Abstract:
Nature-based recreation has become an important activity in contemporary society and a key component of cultural ecosystem services. Although the methods of mapping the outdoor recreation supply have been gradually improved, few studies have carried out multi-temporal evaluations. Based on land use/land cover (LULC), POI, and other web-open data, we mapped the recreational service supply in Shanghai in 2008 and 2018, combining recreation potential and recreation opportunities. We first selected the evaluation indicators, using LULC to measure recreational potential, and POI density and accessibility to measure recreational opportunities. Then, we used principal component analysis (PCA) to determine the weights of the 12 factors that measure recreational opportunities, and made RO and RP maps, respectively. Finally, we overlaid RO and RP maps to obtain the spatial distribution map of recreation service supply. Our results showed that the supply of recreation services in 2008 and 2018 presented a “V-shaped” gradient along the city center areas—the peri-urban areas—the rural areas. Compared with the year 2008, the average recreation value decreased in nine regions, but increased in Chongming District in 2018. The assessment and mapping of recreation service supply value provide a basis for the development of local recreational resources, land use decisions, and the management of recreational cultural ecosystem services.

Abstract:
Urbanization processes with their too rapid activity and changes in the state of the environment have the ability to compensate for recreation in forest parks, parks, gardens and squares, alleys and boulevards. Natural and recreational resources are understood as factors, substances and properties of components of the natural environment that have favorable parameters for recreational activities (qualitative and quantitative) and serve or may serve for the organization of recreation, tourism, treatment and rehabilitation of people [1]. Recreational resources of the city are the properties and factors of the components of the natural environment of the city and suburban area, which can be used for recreation, tourism, treatment and rehabilitation of people. The problem of preservation and use of recreational resources of the urban environment in modern scientific publications is not covered enough. Questions of this content often arise in the study of urban ecological processes or components of urban planning, green areas of the city and so on. However, from the standpoint of recreational nature management, urban areas as potential areas of short-term recreation are still insufficiently studied. That is why the purpose of this publication is to highlight scientific approaches to the assessment of recreational resources of urban areas on the example of one of the regional centers - the city of Ternopil. The article analyzes the approaches to the assessment of natural recreational resources of the city. The current problems of recreational load on the natural areas of the urban environment are highlighted. The method of assessment of natural recreational resources of the city has been improved. It is established that the natural recreational resources of the city, first of all, include greenery, forests, water bodies and nature reserves. Accordingly, the provision of recreation areas of the urban population is directly affected by the forest cover and nature reserves of the city and suburban area. Within the city there are areas of short, medium and long-term recreation. Differentiation of these areas is based on the time availability and structure of natural recreational resources that are included in the zone. On the basis of the conducted analysis the basic indicators of a zone of short, average and far recreation of the city of Ternopil are defined. The level of landscaping of the residential area of Ternopil, which is 95 m2 / person, is calculated. Provision of the urban population with public green spaces 21.3 m2 / person and the coefficient of general use of urban green spaces, which for the city of Ternopil is 22%. The zone of distant inner-city recreation of the city of Ternopil is characterized by such indicators as the recreational capacity of parks, which is more than 13 thousand people for five parks of the city and the recreational capacity of water bodies with coastal areas 5,5 thousand people. Ternopil city parks need more detailed research, especially taking into account their functional zoning and promising areas for recreation within the city. Key words: recreational potential, recreational capacity, Ternopil city, recreation area.

Abstract:
Trabzon province attracts foreign tourists from Arab countries, and forest recreation areas are used extensively. This study aimed to determine the consumer profile, recreational use of forest resources, user and recreational demand characteristics for recreational areas, and consumer preferences and expectations of Arab tourists coming to Trabzon. In the study, a face-to-face survey was conducted with the random sampling method for 400 Arab tourists using 10 forest recreation areas in Trabzon. In the survey, questions such as visitor characteristics of foreign tourists, use of forest resources, recreational suitability, deficiencies, and reasons for site preference were included. The obtained data were evaluated with descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and the Duncan test. According to the analyzes and evaluations, it was found that approximately 83% of Arab tourists coming to Trabzon for forest recreation tourism came from Kuwait, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Iraq. The most common activities in forest recreation areas were determined as walking on forest roads, chilling, watching the scenery, taking fresh air, and taking pictures. The reasons considered very important for the preference of forest recreation areas by Arab tourists were determined natural and aesthetic values, the beauty of forests, and clean and cold water to drink, respectively. The most important variables affecting the utilization of forest recreation areas are inadequate facilities and services (4 points), environmental pollution (3.41 points), crowdedness (3.38 points), adverse weather conditions (3.34 points), noise pollution (3,12 points), security (2.86 points), transportation problem (2.59 points), and inadequate pandemic measures (1.35 points). In addition, the demand for forest recreation areas differs at 95% confidence level according to age, gender, education, family size, natural and aesthetic values, clean and cold water, the beauty of forests, tour program, friend recommendation, desire to be alone with nature, pandemic measures, lack of another place to go around the city, pollution situation, promotion and facility, and service adequacy. In the study, some suggestions were made for the sustainable management of forest recreation areas, increasing the quality of recreational services, tourist satisfaction, and tourism development for Arab tourists.

Abstract:
The article addresses the viability of industrial cities in the PrydniprovskRegion in the context of the necessity for urban transformations. It examines the current public demands and technological challenges faced by the region's cities as monofunctional economic centers with entrenched and unresolved urban planning conflicts. Using the example of the city of Dnipro, the article analyzes the role of a modern industrial city, emphasizing the need for reorganization of its industrial zones to create a more sustainable and attractive environment for residents' living, work, and leisure. Upon analyzing the recreational aspect at the regional level, it was identified that the main issue of optimizing the recreation and tourism system of the PrydniprovskRegion lies in resolving the conflict between the economic impact of heavy industry and the region's residents' demand for quality and ecological recreation. The work relies on urban scientists' contributions in defining methods and scientific approaches to optimize stagnant industrial territories within the city structure. In the context of developing alternative sectors as new economic opportunities, the study extensively examines the Mixed-Use Development method, which stands out for its effectiveness in integrating various functions into the urban environment, including residential, commercial, office, public spaces, and recreation. Through this method, appropriate strategies were formulated for the development of recreational elements on former industrial territories. The article presents basic principles for organizing the recreation system, and based on them, rational architectural-planning approaches were developed for tourist-recreational formations according to functional types and urban planning levels – from local zones to regional tourism and recreation systems.

Abstract:
It is increasingly important to identify the determinants and barriers to the use of urban parks. To this aim; the sample group in the study, which was carried out to determine the participation preferences and constraints of individuals using open space urban recreation areas, consists of 629 people using 11 urban open recreation areas in Turkey’s Ankara province. In addition to the demographic questionnaire, “Preference Factors of Recreation Areas” (PFRA) and “Sportive Recreation Barriers Scale” (SRBS) scales were used to collect the data. Frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data. Independent sample t test and one-way analysis of variance ANOVA test were applied to determine the difference since homogeneity and normal distribution conditions were fulfilled. Correlation coefficients were given by Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis was used. The findings obtained can be stated that individuals who use open space recreation areas in Ankara province have a high preference for recreation area participation and perceive sportive recreation barriers at average values. It was determined that the variables such as gender, education level, marital status and reasons for going to recreational areas significantly differentiated recreation area preference factors and sportive recreation barriers. It was found that there was a statistically significant relationship between PFRA and SRBS, and it was also found to be a factor in explaining the barriers to sportive recreation. Within the scope of the findings obtained, the findings were discussed with the support of the literature in terms of evaluating the preference factors of open space urban recreation area users for using parks and the barriers that they may encounter.

Abstract:
The article defines the directions that it is recommended to assess the role of the population in the formation of recreation and tourism activities (RTA). It is proved the need to investigate the role of the population in the RTA in two main directions: 1) as a subject of recreational and tourist systems in its relation to their media (objects); 2) combined - as a subject and component of the object of recreational and tourist systems. The population forms the flows of recreation and tourists, developing relevant structures and mechanisms for their recreational and tourist service, organizes directions and fields of economic and non-economic activities that ensure the recreational needs of the population, creates a specialized recreation infrastructure, develops and implements a variety of functional and territorial organization of recreation and tourism, forms at the national and international level of territorial division of labor. In order to evaluate the recreational potential of a separate plot or object usually consider not the entire nomenclature of conditions and resources, but only a characteristic or typical combination. Each territory, each object of recreation and tourism has its own set (complex) of resource characteristics. And this circumstance greatly facilitates the procedure for a comprehensive assessment of recreational potential due to elimination (allocation) of a characteristic complex of terms and resources of RTA. A similar situation arises for a functional assessment of recreational potential. The valuation of conditions and resources are not developed for a general list of species and forms of RTA, but for those that are distributed in this area in this locality. It is determined that among the numerous characteristics and indicators of recreational potential, the concept of recreational and tourist attractiveness is one of the objective indicators of resource potential. Estimation of recreational potential for quantitative indicators of recreation and tourists and their numerical and spatial distributions creates an objective basis for all other characteristics and indicators of RTD. Another important characteristic of the recreational potential, which forms the population as a factor of RTA is a recreation capacity of territories and objects of RTA. The concept of "recreational capacity" is related to "recreational attractiveness". Attractiveness characterizes recreational territories and objects for their attraction, according to real flows of recreation and tourists. Recreational capacity is intended to set the upper limits of such attractiveness. Attractiveness represents the actual use of a recreational resource, and the capacity indicates its critical level of recreation, which does not lead to degradation of this resource. In recreational geography, tourism and planning of territories, this direction is well known and extremely designed. The indicators of recreational capacities for certain types and recreation forms and recreations - beach baths, short-term rest in green zones, anthropogenic load of resort zones and areas of the natural reserve fund, maximum population density in various functional zones of the big city, etc. At the same time, the zonal principles of assessing the recreational capacity of objects and areas of recreation and tourism have not yet been developed, and this actual problem is waiting for its researchers. The population forms a so-called anthropogenic load on the territory, and its economic activity is man-made load. Anthropogenic-technogenic load is considered as a factor of recreational and tourist activities, in turn, indicators of anthropogenic-technogenic load are the original characteristics of "anti-resource" of recreation potential. The article has proven that in the context of the study of the prerequisites for the development of recreation and tourist activities of the region also need to analyze both the quality of life of the population, in addition to the assessment of this indicator have a high contrast and diversity in the country. Key words: population, recreational and tourist potential, attractiveness of recreational territories, anthropogenic-technogenic load, quality of life of the population.

Abstract:
Aim: Increasing recreational demands primarily depends on eliminating the factors that prevent people from participating in recreational activities . recreation demand depends on the planning of recreational activities by the administration and the development of recreational areas , starting from the choice of recreational activities on line with the leisure time demands of individuals . The main purpose of this study is to determine the recreational demands of middle-aged and older individuals residing in Kahramanmaras, the factors that prevent their participation in recreational activities and the factors that should be considered during the development of recreation areas in Kahramanmaraş and the construction of new recreation areas. Methods: In the research within the scope of the study , the leisure time barriers scale was applied in the recreation areas in Kahramanmaraş and the data collected from 600 volunteer participants were analyzed using the SPSS 21 program. Results: According to to the results of the research, it was determined that the first of the leisure time inhibitors that prevent the recreational demands of the upper middle individuals is the Lack of Knowledge sub-dimension. The sub-dimension of lack of information is followed by the psychology of the individual, lack of interest, lack of facilities, time and friends sub-dimensions, respectively. Conclusion: Across the scale of leisure barriers , it was determined that the leisure time barriers perceptions of the participants did not differ statistically significantly according to to their gender , marital status and income groups . It is seen that the perceptions of leisure time barriers of individuals over middle age differ statistically significantly according to the age groups, level of education and working status. It is seen that the factor affecting the “ facility sub-dimension ” of the leisure time barriers scale the most is the suitability of the facilities for their age group and the perceptions of the recreational participants , the upper middle class participants . Abstract:
The ever-increasing demands for outdoor recreation have caused widespread ecological damages in many parts of the world, so that methods to contain deleterious impacts and maintain the quality of recreational experience must be earnestly sought. Besides the commonlyprescribed preventive and ameliorative actions on the resource-base, visitor management which can provide cost-effective and long-term solutions deserves more attention than hitherto. This paper evaluates a spectrum of relevant options including the subtle (influencing userbehaviour), through the intermediate (redistributing use), to the regulatory (rationing use). The reduction of per caput impact can, naturally, raise the capacity of an area to accommodate continuing use. Minimum impact techniques can substantially curtail the largely inadvertent damage due to ignorance rather than malice, while recreational planning and management can take into account the changing user preference. Appropriate data to guide management decisions can be acquired through innovative non-contact approaches, including visitor observation, to solicit candid and spontaneous responses. Good-quality information, conveyed through different channels in ample time before a visit, can effectively modify user behaviour and perception. Formal and informal education, to inculcate a responsible attitude towards the natural environment, can bring long-range benefits. Citizen participation can furnish diversified and useroriented perspectives that are important for successful programmes.

Abstract:
Outdoor recreation opportunities are crucial for sustaining people’s physical and mental health, and forests are important recreational venues in Europe, especially in its northern part. Our study sought to characterise outdoor recreation patterns and their changes in Latvia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted a representative population survey with public participatory GIS elements that allowed the respondents to map their favoured recreation destinations. Our results revealed increased visitor numbers to nature areas during COVID-19. The main stated psychosocial factors behind the increased frequency of nature visits are health benefits and lower perceived risks in the context of the pandemic. Forests as areas simultaneously providing multiple ecosystem services have significant importance in providing space for outdoor recreation. Outdoor recreation hotspots concentrate around major urban areas and in some of the largest and most popular nature areas.

The research was carried out in 2019/2020 in the Homilsha Woods National Nature Park in the plantings with different levels of anthropogenic load: an economic area (with selective sanitary felling in 2017); ‘recreation + felling’ in winter 2019); a protected area; an area of regulated recreation; an area of stationary recreation. A total of 63 species from 49 genera of 23 families of subcortical Coleoptera with the predominance of Cerambycidae and Curculionidae: Scolytinae were identified. Xylophages (23 species, or 36.5%) and entomophages (16 species, or 25.4%) predominated in terms of the number of species. Saproxylophages included 13 species (20.6%), xylomycetophages – 7 species (11.1%), myxomycetophages – 3 species (4.8%), mycetophages – 1 species (1.6%). Xylophages are represented in four families, xylomycetophages in two ones, entomophages in eight ones, saproxyphages in eight families, and mycetophages in one family. In the area of regulated recreation, 37 species of subcortical Coleoptera were identified (58.7%), in the areas of stationary recreation and protected area – 25 and 32 species, or 39.7 and 50.8%, respectively. In the plantings of economic and recreational ones, where selective felling was carried out, 27 and 25 species were identified respectively (42.9 and 39.7% of the total number of detected species). In the economic and recreational areas, where selective felling had just been carried out, xylophages accounted for 51.9 and 56%, and entomophages for 18.5 and 20% of all subcortical Coleoptera species found in each area. In the protected area and the area of regulated recreation, xylophages make up 25 and 29.7% respectively, and entomophages – 28.1 and 24.3%, respectively. With the help of the Sorensen-Chekanovsky index, the plantings with the high similarity of the subcortical fauna of Coleoptera were determined as: 1 – areas of economic and recreational areas where felling was carried out, and 2 – areas of the protected area and regulated recreation area.

Abstract:
Green infrastructure plays an important role in recreation and human well-being, especially in urban and peri-urban areas. Our study aimed to evaluate and map the recreational potential of an urban area (Brașov, Romania) using two data sets: (a) people’s preferred landscape features and (b) preferred locations where outdoor activities and recreation take place. The latter was gathered through participatory mapping techniques. For each location, we computed explanatory variables, e.g., the distance to 19 landscape elements known to be important for recreation. Based on (b), we determined the recreational activity profiles for each participant and evaluated how well these profiles matched the participant’s preferences for landscape features (dataset a). Finally, recreational potential was mapped by computing a recreational index using dataset b. Two preference profiles (P1: urban, infrastructure-oriented; P2: nature-oriented) were identified based on people’s preferred landscape features, and three recreational activity profiles were identified based on the preferred locations, i.e., an “urban”, a “nature”, and an “ubiquist” type. The importance of green infrastructures for recreation in both preference profiles was striking. Many persons belonging to the urban and infrastructure-oriented group indicated that they recreate in locations with a high amount of green infrastructure and nature. The map of the recreational potential shows hotspots for recreation but also areas lacking recreational provisions, giving useful insight for future urban planning.

Methods of geoinformation analysis and geomodelling are used for the implementation of urban zoning. Recreational land use is a complex spatial system. The main task of recreational areas is to restore the strength and health of the population. Recreational areas consist of climatic, engineering and technical elements. Currently, creative and adaptive recreation is developing. These types of recreation fill the deficit of traditional recreational areas. The decrease in recreational areas is due to the construction of buildings. Recreational areas lose their natural properties. The financing of recreational infrastructure is reduced. In the article the geoinformation analysis of recreational provision of the city of Novosibirsk is executed. An original method of constructing a network of evaluation blocks is proposed. The analysis of the spatial location of residential and transport infrastructure. Information on the population and area of recreational facilities was used to calculate the recreational provision. These areas have great importance in recreational use in terms of their natural and cultural landscape values. Within the scope of the study, it aims to calculate the potential of the Karacabey district of Bursa, one of these areas, in terms of recreational use. Material and Methods: The main material of the study consists of 64 villages located in the Karacabey district of Bursa province. The method of the study is based on the principle of assigning weighted points to five items of recreation areas. After scoring, calculations were made with basic mathematical operations, and the obtained quantitative data were interpreted. Results: As a result of the study, it was determined that there are no villages in the Karacabey district with very low recreation potential (30%>); 40 villages are low (30-45%), 17 villages are medium (45-60%), 5 villages are high (61-75%) and 2 villages were also found to have a very high (75%<) recreational potential. Conclusion: Within the scope of the study, it has been determined that the existing natural and cultural landscape values and infrastructure facilities add great value to the villages with high recreation potential. Therefore, various recreation types in which these values will be protected and used have been evaluated within this framework and new proposals have been developed.

Abstract:
Recreational activity is the indicator, which reflects the cumulative impact of recreation on landscape complex and represents an integral indicator of recreational use of natural objects depending on the number of tourists on the item available for recreational use of space, time and prevailing forms of recreation, measured in person-days. The most important objective in addressing the problem of sustainable recreational use of forest resources today is the determination of maximum allowable recreational loads, their rules. As a result of researches on the territory of the meander part of the floodplain forests of the river Don, area of the protected natural landscape State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, we identified the active recreational use of riparian plantings on the area of 431 hectares or 30.4 % of the total area of the studied territory. Prevailing forms of recreation are determined: roadless, obtaining and picnic one. Roadless form of recreation impact covers the largest part of areas suitable for recreational use (18 % of the total area) and it makes 256.3 ha. This form of recreation is common in largely undeveloped forest areas of the left bank and right bank of flood plain of the river Don near the villages of stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, Bazkovskaya and nearby hamlets. Picnic form of recreation is dominated on 5.5 % of the territory, but the impact caused by the consequences is the most aggressive ones. Estimated of unit values of recreational load in the prevailing forest type groups revealed that at most sites the actual load does not exceed the indicators of maximum permissible values and varies from 0.2 to 5.4 person-days./ha, given the landscape accessibility and the prevailing forms of recreation. The dependence of the distribution of resting people on the distance to the village is defined.

Aim: The main aim of the article to analyze the principles and methodology of recreational zoning, the related theories, as well as the factors, which must be successively considered in this process. The methodological basis of the article is the theoretical provisions set forth in the works of Azerbaijani and foreign scholars in defining theoretical and methodological peculiarities of the state programs, international experience in the organization of Recreation Zones. Results: The carried work also demonstrates the feasibility of the conduction of recreational zoning in Azerbaijan, with distinguishing sub-regions within the boundaries of touristic-recreational region of Gusar. The tourism- recreation zone of Gusar specifically predicts the main directions of development of the microdistrict by type of tourism. In accordance to the selection of areas for the Gusar tourism-recreation zone are taken into account the potential for the development of various types of tourism, as well as the suitability for the joint organization of many services. From this point of view, in the formation of recreational tourism zones graphic of dependence is considered the basis for the development of areas. The article shows that the advantages of applying this dependence graphic is suitable for the Gusar recreation and tourism zone. At the same time, the separation of Chilagir-Urva-Khuray, Anig-Laza, Hazra-Sudur micro-recreation regions in the Gusar recreation-tourism zone is due to the existence of similar natural-geographical conditions and conditions for the organization of different types of tourism. The structure of employment is dominated by agriculture and, in part, by tourism. Potato-growing and livestock are the main agricultural sectors. Scientific novelty: The practical significance of the article is the selection of areas suitable for tourism development in the Gusar Tourism and Recreation Zone, and the forecasting of tourism development trends, taking into account the ecological balance.

Abstract:
With the development of large cities, stable and dynamic development of recreational areas becomes relevant both directly in cities and in suburban areas for short-term stay of urban residents. The problems of organizing recreation in the city and suburban area were dealt with by specialists in architecture and urban planning, specialists in recreational geography and researchers noted that recreational activities are clearly differentiated geographically and are directly related to the natural properties of the territory. The methodological problem of such developments is their predominant orientation to commercial forms of recreational activities, in particular to tourism and to mass organized recreation, which has its own management and marketing. Other types of recreational activities – mass unorganized recreation and domestic forms of recreation and leisure – are practically considered in this context, experience not considered in this context, experience has shown that recreation is actually a complex phenomenon. A typical problem has become an intersectoral one, which requires the joint work of many specialists. The aim of the study is to deepen the concept of the recreational environment of the city and suburban area. Currently, the «city-suburban zone» system is considered as a single whole with its own connections, interdependencies and interactions, with its own principles of integrated and synergistic development. One of the main functions of the suburban area is recreation and recreation of the city’s population. There is a practical need to consider the recreational resources of the city and suburban area together and term this combination as the «recreational environment of the city». The recreational environment of the city and suburban area is considered as a multicomponent system that combines components – natural, historical and cultural, social, economic, manmade, environmental, legal, managerial, information environments. The recreational environment, formalized as a result of the overlap and interaction of the original environmental environments – natural, historical, cultural, and social, technogenic, economic, ecological is a set of resource components united by a common social function-ensuring the recreational needs of the population.

Abstract:
Insecurity has become a global phenomenon affected even the most advanced countries of the world such as the United States of America where periodic gun violence or mass shooting of unarmed civilians has been claiming many lives annually. Though insecurity is more prevalent in developing countries where series of armed conflicts have claimed many lives, destroyed properties, and forced displacements. This paper examined the impacts of insecurity on recreation and tourism in Katsina State Northern Nigeria. The methodology employed to collect data for the research includes field visits to the affected areas to observe the physical and human settings. There is also the use of focus group discussions involving ten participants each from two groups in each of the eight local government areas most affected by the insecurity. The results have shown that Katsina State possesses a variety of recreational and tourist centers such as historical sites and monuments, recreational parks and resorts, waterfront areas, geomorphic features, and durbar festivals. The results further showed that banditry is the form of insecurity affecting recreation and tourism in the State from 2011 to date (2023). Banditry has negatively affected recreation and tourism in form of loss of lives of recreationists, taking over forests and villages containing tourist's sites, halting recreation and tourism projects, deliberate clearance of forest areas, restricting travelling and cancellation of durbar festivals. This is despite the series of efforts by the Federal and State Governments towards curbing insecurity to allow recreation and tourism to flourish. There is therefore the urgent need to adopt more active and decisive measures to combat the insecurity thereby promoting tourism and recreation in Katsina State northern Nigeria.

Abstract:
Life in big cities exacerbates a person's desire to be more often in the bosom of nature, enjoy the peace and beauty of landscapes. The administration of megacities is concerned about the problems of preserving the natural environment and creating within the city limits a network of recreational areas where recreational activities can be organized. In each region, this type of recreation is organized in accordance with the laws adopted in the state. According to geoecologists, the share of recreational areas should be at least 15% of the total area of the city. So for example the total area of such territories in St. Petersburg is only 6 004.4 hectares (which is 4.17% of the total area of the city). Comparison of the urban map of landscapes and located areas for recreation within the city allows concluding about the unequal representation of each landscape. This should be taken into account when designing new protected areas within the city. In the research, an attempt to generalize the theoretical material in the field of environmental and recreational resource studies is done. Also, a detailed description of recreational opportunities for the rational use of individual components of the city's natural environment is presented. The authors conducted a geoecological analysis of the allocation of recreational areas in large cities. Features of nature that should be taken into account when designing recreational areas in large cities, on an example of St. Petersburg, are noted.

The recreational impact directly affects both the recreation experience and environmental attitudes with negative and positive consequences. 3. The recreation experience has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between recreational impact and environmental attitudes; 4. Environmental attitudes have a full mediation effect on the relationship between recreational impact and ERB. Our findings indicate that with a better recreation experience, hikers increase their positive environmental attitude and ERB. However, the recreational impact is contradictory in that it reduces the recreation experience which indirectly worsens hikers’ environmental attitude. Interestingly, the environmental attitude does not mediate the relationship between the recreation experience and ERB.

Abstract:
Nature-based recreation (NBR) is an important cultural ecosystem service providing human well-being from natural environments. As the most concentrated and high-quality wilderness in China, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) has unique advantages for NBR. In this study, we designed an integrated nature-based recreation potential index (INRPI) based on four aspects: nature-based recreation resources, landscape attractiveness, recreation comfort and opportunity, and recreation reception ability. A combination of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy evaluation method was adopted to assess the NBR potential in the QTP from 2000 to 2020. The research shows that: (i) The INRPI for the QTP decreases gradually from southeast to northwest and increases slightly from 2000 to 2020. (ii) The INRPI displays a pronounced difference on either side of the Qilian-Gyirong line. The areas with very high and high potentials mainly distributed in the southeast of the line, while areas with very low and low potentials distributed in the northwest. (iii) The construction of protected areas effectively improves NBR potential. Areas of INRPI at diverse levels within protected areas obviously increased in 2020. (iv) Increasing altitude has a notable effect on INRPI, and 3000 m is a critical dividing line for the NBR in the QTP. These findings can contribute to decision-makers in guiding rational use and spatial planning of natural land and promoting sustainable recreational development.

Abstract:
Natural environment potential encompasses such components as e.g. climate, relief, biota, waterways, all of these significant for the recreational activity carried out in nature. Such activity is increasingly more popular with city dwellers who, encouraged by new lifestyle trends, try to engage in active recreation on weekdays and at weekends. Existing environmental potential in urban areas may determine to a great extent the opportunity and nature of recreational activities of city inhabitants. Szczecin spans across a large area (over 300 km²) and enjoys versatile natural environment, with predominance of water and green areas (25% and 20% respectively). Green areas include forests with great landscape, recreational and specialist values, which allows the citizens (approx. 400 000 inhabitants) to engage in various forms of recreational activities. However, half of this area remains unkempt or not properly maintained which results in concentration of recreational traffic in the other areas, now hosting better leisure facilities though still not sufficient to meet the needs of the city’s population. The accumulation of tourist and recreational infrastructure over a limited area causes an over-concentration of recreational traffic, contributing to excessive exploitation of natural environment (as estimated, capacity norms are being exceeded 15-16 times). At the same time, even though there are several initiatives in operation aimed at integrating Szczecin’s green areas, the city still lacks a coherent, sensible system of developing and using Szczecin’s wooded areas which would benefit the citizens, as well as sustain the ecological balance of its forests. It can be thus concluded that the huge recreational potential of Szczecin’s wooded areas is used only in part. Key words: recreation, natural potential, woodland.

Abstract:
Ecotourism, outdoor recreation, and protected areas are interlinked and thus, most of the ecotourism and outdoor recreational activities are conducted in protected areas. The study's primary purpose is to describe the opportunities and challenges and pinpoint possible strategies for outdoor recreation and ecotourism development in the urban fringe protected areas of Harego and Bededo protected areas, Ethiopia. The primary data was collected through a qualitative approach, interviews with purposely selected experts and personal observation. From the findings, several opportunities were identified including the availability of other tourist attractions around Harego and Bededo, the geographical position of the sites, the coming newly constructed railway, and the presence of the Kombolcha integrated industrial park. Even though opportunities exist some challenges were also identified. These challenges include the presence of unwanted trash in the natural protected areas, the encroachments of the local community on the protected areas, the planting of non-indigenous trees, unplanned management of protected areas of Harego and Bededo, landslides, and erosion problems. Finally, possible strategies were identified and presented for developing ecotourism and outdoor recreation in the study area.

Abstract:
Research background. Recreation as a phenomenon is gaining more and more attention from the government, scientists and other researchers. It is becoming more and more important to preserve population’s dynamic activity, energy and health because of a faster pace of life and increased workload. Any chosen form of recreation allows a person to get some rest, regain peace, relax from tension and worries, and experience new things, etc. This article examines the theoretical point of view of recreation and the need for it. The purpose of the conducted study was to determine the application of recreational resources of Liudvinavas to satisfy the needs of its residents. The problem of the research. Only little research has been conducted in rural areas, including Liudvinavas recreational environmental studies, its application for recreation. The purpose of the research. To analyse the application of recreational resources of Liudvinavas to satisfy the social and cultural needs of the community. Methods of the research. Quantitative and qualitative. Results and conclusions. Recreational potential in Liudvinavas is quite big but it requires detailed research to be done. Recreational potential in leisure, forests, cognitive and sports (active) recreation can be used without requiring big investments. Employing a recreational specialist in Liudvinavas who would be in charge of organising leisure (recreation) activities would help to meet the needs of local residents as well as those visiting the town. In the future it can be used to promote entrepreneurship. Usually a passive and local form of recreation is chosen, but the potential of Liudvinavas nature is great for the active forms of recreation as well. Respondents usually prefer recreational resources of nature such as forests, water and coastlines, natural heritage objects that are suitable for people’s leisure and entertainment. Therefore it is important to adapt all those resources of nature to be suitable to satisfy the recreational needs. Both younger and older residents of Liudvinavas would like to have more organised gatherings and activities, more recreation of sports and wellness, and the majority would prefer a lake shore that is nicely arranged and adapted for leisure. Keywords: recreation, globalization, recreational resources, natural resources.

Abstract:
The modern landscape of a large city is a complex, dynamically changing environment with a constant influence of environmental, social and economic factors. The gradual historical development of the territory and the change in urban processes led to the formation of a city containing mixed-type areas, i.e. border territories and separate zones - industrial, residential, intermediate. In Russia, the improvement of coastal zones in large cities has become an urgent task when adjusting master plans for the development of territories [1-5]. The main component of such projects is the development of a concept for the renovation of coastal zones into generally accessible natural and recreational recreation areas based on water bodies within the urban planning. The creation of recreations, recreation areas, the formation of a system of pedestrian communications, the opening of residential complexes to the water, the integration of water into public urban spaces [2-6]. A comprehensive analysis of theoretical studies and design experience made it possible to highlight the properties of water used in architecture and urban planning. Thus, the development of a promising bioclimatic model of urban settlements of the third millennium will be based on ecological design, which includes part of the processes of the circulation of substances and energy, as well as harmony in the environment [6-9].

Abstract:
This study examines modern rural changes associated with the transition from an economy focused on production to an economy focused on services, which in the future will allow the formation of tourist clusters within rural areas. The history of the formation of a scientific view on such concepts as "rural", "rural area", "rural tourism and recreation" is studied. Three main characteristics that clearly define the districts as rural were studied: population density and size of the settlement, land use and economy, traditional public structures. The spectrum of tourist and recreational activities in the countryside has been formed, which make up its attractiveness through attractions and the development of relevant types of tourism. The potential aspects of the development of rural tourism are identified. An analysis of socio-economic, cultural, and physical influences on the development of tourism and recreation in rural areas was proposed. A number of dynamic processes in the measurement of world trends are highlighted. The general strategy of the tourist cluster is proposed.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the identification of the recreational potential of the city of Odessa for the development of tourism. For this, the analysis of the existing landscape and rec-reational areas of the city was carried out using the general plan of Odessa (DIPROMISTO, in 2015), DBN B.2.2-12: 2019 “Planning and development of territories” and “Methods for deter-mining the recreational capacity of resorts and recreation areas” (by T. Panchenko). It has been es-tablished that the results of assessing the recreational potential of Odessa make up 20% of the total city territory, which suggests that almost all types of landscape and recreational territories are scarce and disordered, especially in the coastal zone. The capacity of coastal recreation areas on the seashore (near the beach and water area) is set based on the size of the beach area (W1) and the length of the coastal strip (W2). The results show that on the seaside coast of Odessa at the same time on the beach can be more than 53 thou-sand vacationers, although every season the beach recreation area is visited by more than 75 thou-sand people (city residents and tourists), which is not enough for the development of tourism in the city. All this testifies to a huge shortage of coastal recreation areas on the seaside coast of Odessa. Thus, as a result of assessing the recreational potential of coastal common areas, using the example of the city of Odessa, it was revealed: 1. Greening of public areas, namely parks, gardens, squares, pedestrian boulevards, are not evenly distributed throughout the city in relation to the general territory and administrative districts of the city. This is a prerequisite for the use of other territories, including abandoned economic plots in these areas, for new recreational areas, as well as for the rehabilitation of existing parks in a depressed state. For example, an increase in the recrea-tional territories of the Malinovsky district makes it possible to rehabilitate the Savitsky and Dyu-kovsky parks. On the territory of the Suvorov District – restoration and modernization of the exist-ing Luzanovka Hydropark; the creation of specialized parks on the “Fields of irrigation and filtra-tion” (landscape, zoological and botanical) on “Zhevakhov Mountain” – the organization of an open-air museum of architecture and life, a park of architectural miniatures, a golf course. 2. The huge shortage of coastal recreation areas on the seaside coast of Odessa and the lack of free access of the population to the entire coastline makes it possible to reorganize the coastal territory using the abandoned territories of “Irrigation and filtration fields” (Khadzhibey estuary), “Meat-packing plant” and “Odessilmash” for organizing seaside pedestrian boulevards, promenades and public beaches. Also on the territory of “Meat-packing plant” and “Odessilmash” it is possible to create exhibition, sports parks and attractions.

Abstract:
Tourism and recreation play an increasingly important role in the economy of regions located in the European territory of Russia. Their importance in the arrangement of space is also constantly increasing. It is essential to include tourism and recreation in the territorial development programs, which, in turn, requires elaboration of concepts for their promotion at inter-regional, regional, and intra-regional levels. The concept of tourism and recreation development is based on a comprehensive assessment of the territory, taking into account its stable characteristics and dynamic indicators. The areal nature of recreational impacts determines the choice of spatial assessment methods. Structurally, the concept of tourism and recreation development contains three blocks: informational, analytical, and practical. The article discusses the concept formation methodology based on two geographical methods: tourist-recreational zoning and construction of a tourist-recreational frame of the region. The practical part of the study is based on the territory of the Ustyansky district of the Arkhangelsk region. The application of the developed methodology to a specific region made it possible to step by step follow the algorithm for using spatial assessment when working with two blocks of the concept: the informational block, which includes a description of the tourist and recreational potential and the current state of the tourism industry, and the analytical block, which defines priority areas for the development of tourism and recreation. The article also shows the formation of the practical block of the concept based on the data collected. It contains ideas concerning promotion of the region’s tourism potential and the main tools for implementing the concept. Spatial assessment makes it possible not only to outline the directions of tourism development in the region but also to give recommendations for organizing high-quality recreation for local residents. The materials of the article can be used to formulate methodological recommendations on the preparation of tourism and recreation development concepts at various regional levels.

Abstract:
This research investigated the usefulness of the Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) for managing forest recreation in two natural protected areas of southern Durango, Mexico. We used onsite interviews to document the recreation activities visitors participated in, the characteristics of their preferred recreation sites, and socio-demographic information. A cluster analysis identified visitor groups based on the characteristics of preferred recreation sites and the resulting clusters were compared to the recreation activities and socio-demographic data to create a typology of visitors. We used the ROS framework to identify three classes in each natural protected area including (1) zones with easy access and basic facilities (ROS rural class), (2) natural-appearing zones with few facilities (ROS roaded class), and (3) reserve zones (ROS semiprimitive non-motorized or primitive class). Overall, the ROS framework appears to fit appropriately in these two case studies and could be used for recreation planning purposes in other forest areas of the country.

Abstract:
Given the physical and geographical location, unique biotic and landscape diversity, favorable hydroclimatic conditions and availability of recreational resources, we note the active development of the tourism industry in the single national nature park (NNP) «Karmeliukove Podillia» within the Eastern Podillia region. Tourism here is represented by different areas: excursions, recreation, ethnic, sports, religious, environmental, rural (green) and others. The territory of NNP «Karmeliukove Podillia» has a significant recreational potential, which is expressed in the combination of resources and conditions for its development in various sectors of economic activity. The potential of the park is realized through social needs, which manifest themselves in the form of different types of nature management, depending on resource availability and development conditions, structure and nature of social needs, different types of existing habitats, functional zones and sizes. Therefore, the recreational potential of the functional areas of the park is one of the priorities of its sustainable development. In view of the above, we calculated the recreational potential of NNP «Karmeliukove Podillia». In the analysis of which a tribal rating scale was used, where various factors were assessed as favorable for the development of a particular type of recreation (3 points), relatively favorable (2 points) and unfavorable (1 point). The method of determining the recreational potential of the park was aimed at defining the potential of outdoor recreation using the proposed mathematical formula, which included biotic and landscape diversity, favorable climatic and hydrological conditions, infrastructure development, recreation facilities and the impact of negative natural and man-made factors

The concept of “infrastructure”, the history of its emergence and establishing in scientific field are considered. Two directions of “infrastructure” concept interpretation are defined and understanding of its second definition is formulated. In addition to social and production infrastructures it is proposed to distinguish universal one, which is able to satisfy both the needs of population and production sector, that is, society as a whole. According to sectoral criteria it is distinguished specialized infrastructure, that is inherent only to a particular sector and is used only for realization of a particular activity (in the paper it is shown by the example of recreational activities), although its parts may belong to social infrastructure, or industrial infrastructure, or to their joint group – universal infrastructure. By means of modelling it is shown the place of infrastructure in the recreation sphere and its types. It is considered the definition of “recreation sphere” concept, its relationships with the concepts of “recreation sector”, “recreational economy” and “recreation activities”, as well as its belonging to the social sphere in the structure of social production, which is presented in the form of the model. It is given the author’s definition of “recreation activities infrastructure” concept. The structural-logical models showing the place and types of recreation activities infrastructure and structure of public production are developed. Abstract:
This article addresses how to develop national and local policy on tourism and recreation in mountainous rural areas considering the recreational capacity, demographic patterns and economic situations, with an emphasis on local livelihoods. Management of recreational natural resources is an integral component of the national environmental policy. It is considered that the recreational natural resources management is broader than the recreational industry management, since the former covers protection and restoration of the resources. The multiplier economic effect and joint use of recreational resources by various users are the key issues for the industry. Evidently, almost in all the Ukraine’s regions, accessible recreational resources are not used efficiently enough. In order to evolve an appropriate sustainable tourism policy, a multilevel algorithm is developed on how to classify areas depending on the recreational resources and tourism industry. The algorithm supplies several policy models of the recreational industry’s development, taking into account the types of settlements (urban, rural, intermediate, and mountainous), proximity of settlements to urban centres (urbanized and peripheral), recreational capacity of areas (high, medium, low), and economic efficiency of local recreational industry (productive, semi-productive, unproductive). Accordingly, three types of communities’ development strategies have been suggested. They include the recreational focus, profound recreational industry, and recreations for locals. The novelty of this research is that it presents the approach on how to assess the capacity of local recreational recourses and the industry. The multilevel algorithm is proposed to classify areas and define better approaches for the local policies.
