Abstract:
Cyclopentadiene (Cpd) is widely used as a starting material in organic and inorganic chemistry. In neat form, Cpd dimerizes, making it necessary to distill it prior to use to obtain fully reactive material. We have screened three different tetraphenyladamantane octaethers for their ability to act as encapsulating organic crystal (EnOC) hosts for Cpd. To this end, we also synthesized 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)adamantane, a new octaether, dubbed iso-TDA. Only one of the octaethers was found to produce inclusion complexes with Cpd in the crystalline state. The encapsulated diene was stable for one month and showed full reactivity in a series of different synthetic transformations.

Abstract:
Prior to embarking on mobile technologies, mobile learning has become an integral part of learning strategies. It is viewed as a potentially significant learning tool as it has made learning ubiquitous with the use of wireless mobile devices. However, before designing and implementing a new learning system, learner’s readiness should be taken into consideration. Despite its notable advantages, mobile learning is largely unresearched at Malaysian Form Six Students. Therefore, this quantitative study aims to investigate the extent of readiness of Malaysian Form Six students., A set of questionnaires was administered to 106 randomly selected form six students to serve this purpose. The questionnaire was designed to explore three main readiness, namely Self-Directed Learning (SDL), technological readiness, and psychological readiness. The overall findings revealed that a great majority of the students show a high level off readiness for the implementation of mobile learning. The evidence from this preliminary finding has provided valuable information for educators and curriculum designers to discover ways to exploit mobile learning in the teaching and learning process.

The predominant form of research dissemination resides in the scholar’s domain, namely academic conferences and peer-reviewed journals. This paper describes how two colleagues and researchers integrated documentary filmmaking with research methods in their respective scholarly work, supporting the case for documentary film as an alternative form of scholarly work and knowledge mobilization outside the walls of the university. The authors add to the ongoing conversation for a more dynamic use of digital video-recording that moves beyond simple data collection and encourage researchers to tap into multimodal forms of expression, specifically digital filmmaking.

Abstract:
The architects of the Modern Movement in the late 1920s found new sources of form through the pursuit of technical and functional issues in design. They sought shaping agents in functional organization, in the admission of light, in efficiency of structure and construction, and many other physical issues of this kind. At the same time, they felt the need to escape from traditional rules of architectural composition involving Classical orders of columns, symmetry and axes. They were ready to discover a new and surprising identity for buildings precisely to defy the historicist conventions that until then dominated architecture as a cultural tradition. Acoustics is an area in which many interesting claims were made, and some famous Modernist designs were supposedly formed, or at very least inspired, by acoustic forces. These historical instances beg the question whether acoustics is really a legitimate and helpful formal determinant of buildings. Perhaps instead, the acoustic arguments put forward by architects to justify their formal choices were just convenient alibis. This is a far more complex issue than at first it seems.

Abstract:
An interest in investigating the effect of instruction on interlanguage development prompted me to conduct a study on a small group of adult migrant learners of English. As a first step, the learners were assessed for their stage of syntactic development. This assessment showed that a structure-do-fronted questions – had not been acquired by some of the learners but was one for which they were syntactically ready. Because questioning is an important and complex speech act, the learners were then given instruction which focused their attention on do-fronting. The follow-up assessment indicated that instruction can be successful because the learners acquired do-fronting. The study supports the claim that form-focused instruction can make a difference. It also lends weight to Pienemann’s claim that the effectiveness of instruction depends on whether a structure is learnable for an individual learner. The study shows that form-focused instruction can provide an innovative linguistic focus to communicative language teaching and give important assistance with the second language acquisition of the learners.

Abstract:
Listeria monocytogenes is of great concern as a foodborne pathogen. Many ready-to-eat foods are widely contaminated with this organism and have caused listeriosis outbreaks and sporadic cases in many countries. In Japan, there is a high incidence of L. monocytogenes contamination, specifically in raw ready-to-eat seafood. Identical L. monocytogenes subtypes have been isolated repeatedly from samples of food manufactured at a given store or processing plant, and researchers suspected that certain L. monocytogenes isolates have formed biofilms at these sites. A microtiter plate biofilm formation assay was conducted, and all raw ready-to-eat seafood isolates tested were able to form biofilms to various degrees. Biofilm formation by L. monocytogenes isolates of lineage I was significantly greater (P = 0.000) than that by isolates of lineage II. However, isolates of clonal lineages formed different levels of biofilms, indicating that the ability to form a biofilm is affected positively or negatively by environmental factors.

Abstract:
Background: People have various and changing needs as they age, and the number of people living with some form of dementia is steadily increasing. Smart homes have a unique potential to provide assisted living but are often designed rigidly with a specific and fixed problem in mind. Objectives: To make smart-ready homes and communities that can be adaptively and easily updated over time to support varying user needs and to deliver the needed assistance, empowerment, and living independence. Method: The design and deployment of programmable assistive environment for older adults. Results: The use of platform technology (a special form of what is known today as the Internet of Things or IoT) has enabled the decoupling of goal setting and application development from sensing and assistive technology deployment and insertion in the assistive environment. Personalising a smart home or changing its applications and its interfaces dynamically as the user needs change was possible and has been demonstrated successfully in one house – the Gator Tech Smart House. Scaling up the platform technology approach to a planned living community is underway at one of UK’s National Health Services (NHS) Healthy New Town projects. Conclusions: There is a great need to integrate technology with living spaces to provide assistance and independent living, but to smarten these spaces for lifelong living, the technology and the smart home applications must be flexible, adaptive, and changeable over time. However, people do not just live at home, they live in communities. Looking at the big picture (communities), as well as the small (homes), we consider how to progress beyond smart-ready homes towards smart-ready communities.

Abstract:
Aims: The study examined readiness to change the level of physical activity in leisure time among physically inactive adults, the sociodemographic, lifestyle-related and social factors associated with readiness to change, and finally the various kinds of help to become more physically active required by people who are ready to change and by those not ready to change. Materials and methods: Data were derived from the national representative Danish Health Interview Survey 2005 and included 9,160 physically inactive persons between 16 and 79 years of age. Data were analysed using multiple logistic regression and multiple correspondence analysis. Results: In all, 52 % of the physically inactive respondents stated they were ready to change their level of physical activity. Men had higher odds of being ready to change than women. Readiness to change decreased with age and increased with increasing levels of education. Those ready to change led an active and social lifestyle characterized by considerable health-oriented engagement, while the opposite characterised those not ready to change. Those ready to change wanted help to become more physically active in the form of e.g. opportunities for physical activity at work or help and support from the family. Those not ready to change wanted help from a general practitioner or did not want help at all. Conclusions: Those ready to change and those not ready to change were characterized by very different sociodemographic, lifestyle-related and social factors. This knowledge will benefit prevention initiatives and elucidates the necessity of targeting the initiatives.

Numerous innovations of form have been developed by ready-to-drink tea producers for variety of flavours. The highly competitive market for this product demands the producers to develop more distinctive product for consumers. This research was using qualitative approach with qualified quantitative data. Questionnaire and tactile testing were done to gather data. The questionnaires were given to respondents with age range of 11- 17 years and 1733 yearsold. The respondents are also given tactile test for each packaging, for ready-to-drink tea. The target market for this research was young consumer with often-outdoor activities. Therefore they need abundant liquid intake. Nutrition rich tea in ready-to-drink packaging is one of solution for practical drink. With a high activity tendency, it is logical that the most preferred packaging for ready-to-drink tea is PET bottle. This type of packaging is easy to carry, easy storage for later consumption and hygienic in consumers perception. PET bottle is also could give better fresh sensation compared to other packaging. In specific, consumers like bottle with small diameter and tall opening. Bottle cap with rubber layer is more preferred because has it has maximum closure. For structure, bottle with curvy form, 60 degrees shoulder bottle, vertical and slanting shoulder is considered more attractive.

Abstract:
Abstract A theory of evolving the language-ready brain requires a theory of what it is that evolved. We offer the TCG (Template Construction Grammar) model of comprehension and production of utterances to exhibit hypotheses on how utterances may link to “what language is about.” A key subsystem of TCG is the SemRep system for semantic representation of a visual scene. We offer an account of how it may have evolved as an expansion of the ventral pathway supporting the planning of manual actions, complemented by a dorsal pathway for articulation. The Mirror System Hypothesis (MSH) claims that early Homo sapiens had protolanguage but not language and that cultural evolution yielded the social structures within which children could indeed acquire language. The article poses the challenge of understanding how a brain system could be innately specified that could develop into a TCG-like form, posing a range of questions for future research.

In this study 30 samples each of ready-to-cook meatballs and white cheese as well as 96 samples of various ready-to-eat foods, obtained from different sales outlets in Istanbul, were analyzed for the presence of verotoxins (consequently vemtoxigenic E. coli) E. coli with the aid of the enzyme immunoassay technique. Additionally, total coli-form and chromogenic E. coli count were determined by cultural methods for all food samples. E. coli growth was detected in all ready-to-cook meatballs (100%), in 27 of the white cheese samples (90%) and in 69 of the other ready-to-eat food samples (71.9%). Verotoxins, however, could not be detected in any of the samples examined with the aid of the ELISA technique. The findings of this study indicate a low microbiological quality of the analyzed meatball, white cheese and ready-to-eat food samples; a considerable part of them did not conform to legal standards. However, within the sensitivity limits of the method applied no verotoxinogenic E. coli could be detected.

Abstract:
We consider a single-item, two-echelon spare parts inventory model for repairable parts for capital goods with high downtime costs. The inventory system consists of multiple local warehouses, a central warehouse, and a central repair facility. When a part at a customer fails, if possible his request for a ready-for-use part is fulfilled by his local warehouse. Also, the failed part is sent to the central repair facility for repair. If the local warehouse is out of stock, then, via an emergency shipment, a ready-for-use part is sent from the central warehouse if it has a part in stock. Otherwise, it is sent via a lateral transshipment from another local warehouse, or via an emergency shipment from the external supplier. We assume Poisson demand processes, generally distributed leadtimes for replenishments, repairs, and emergency shipments, and a basestock policy for the inventory control. Our inventory system is too complex to solve for a steady-state distribution in closed form. We approximate it by a network of Erlang loss queues with hierarchical jump-over blocking. We show that this network has a product-form steady-state distribution. This enables an efficient heuristic for the optimization of basestock levels, resulting in good approximations of the optimal costs.

Abstract:
Non-secretory myeloma is a myeloma subtype whose diagnosis, until a few years ago, was established by demonstration of monoclonal plasma cells in the bone marrow and by negative results on serum and urine electrophoresis and immunofixation studies. However, this type of myeloma could be misdiagnosed if the workup does not include an accurate study of serum free light chain test since some of the patients diagnosed as non-secretory could be light chain only with small amounts monoclonal proteinuria. Due to this limit in classification, all the information available today, generally coming from retrospective studies including patients studied in a complete and incomplete fashion, could be misleading. A new definition is thus needed to distinguish between the true non-secretory, with a possible better prognosis, and the other forms of oligosecretory myeloma with a prognosis more similar to the secretory form of myeloma. With all the data of the literature, the availability of laboratory and radiological tools, times are mature to depict a new definition of non-secretory myeloma which deserves, a peculiar work up and different response evaluation and, maybe, a different therapeutic approach. Keywords: Non-secretory myeloma; Free light chain; Myeloma subtype.

Abstract:
The new generation of cooled slow-scan CCD cameras (SSC) have demonstrated the superior properties to conventional photographic films in sensitivity, resolution, dynamic range, linearity, and on-line availability. Furthermore the digital imaging capability as offered by SSC cameras facilitates image processing and quantitative analysis. Other advantages of digital imaging include easy archiving, sending images to a remote site via high speed communication network, and carrying out telemicroscopy, etc. Today, many laboratories in electron microscopy have already abandoned the traditional “dark room” and switched to digital imaging. One of the obstacle in replacing photographic films with digital imaging is the fact that current SSC cameras (e.g. 1024 × 1024 pixels) do not have enough pixels as compared with the film. Therefore the resolution is often compromised with the field of view when using CCD cameras. With computer control of electron microscopes and the use of CCD cameras, we have developed automated “montage” software that can automatically shift and acquire images from a microscope, and automatically perform pixel-to-pixel image alignment to form a montage. The size of the montage is defined by the number of images acquired in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT One of the routes for entry into practice for international medical graduates (IMGs) in Canada entails completing some form of an in-practice assessment program. The latter route is referred to as practice ready assessment and is the focus of the present investigation. A pan-Canadian practice ready assessment process is currently being designed to evaluate IMGs' practice readiness. The selection of candidates who will not only have the highest likelihood of successfully completing the practice-ready assessment program but who will also attain specialty certification is of paramount importance. Our study focused on assessing how well practice-ready assessment candidates' performance on Medical Council of Canada (MCC) examinations and four demographic variables could predict both their score and pass fail status on the College of Family Physicians' (CFPC) certification examination. Data from 132 practice-ready assessment candidates were analyzed and indicate that MCC Qualifying Examination Part 1 scores, gender and age were significant predictors of both pass/fail status (p<0.05) as well as scores (p<0.01) on the short-answer management problems component of the family medicine certification examination. This study provides initial validity evidence for using the MCCQE Part I as a selection tool for practice-ready assessment. Practice-ready assessment programs across Canada might consider adopting the set of standardized predictors examined in this investigation, in addition to other measures, in an effort to better promote a pan-Canadian model.

Abstract:
The mass migration of Syrians with a high rate of school-age children into Turkey brought together the need for teaching these students Turkish for integrating them into the society and Turkish education system. The Ministry of National Education gave this responsibility especially to Turkish teachers. Therefore, these teachers should have the required pedagogical formation and skills to teach Turkish to these students, as well as intercultural sensitivity and cultural knowledge about them. In this study, 19 newly graduated Turkish teacher candidates from a state university in Ankara from the Turkish Education Department were interviewed with the aim to gather their views about Syrian students, their readiness if they are to teach them and their evaluation of their pre-service education in terms of preparing them to this kind of teaching. The qualitative data were collected via the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher and was analyzed with descriptive analysis method. The results show that Turkish teacher candidates do not think they are definitely ready to teach Syrian students. However, they have positive attitudes and believe in themselves that they will do their best to teach them. Teacher training programs should be updated according to the multicultural structure of the schools with Syrian students and these programs should provide the pre-service teachers with the required current information about the student profile in schools.

Abstract:
In the contemporary (Western) literature on mindfulness many authors present it as only a mental practice, which may bring one to a more successful and effective working of the mind, as well as different kinds of mental concentration. However, at least in part of Buddhist literature mindfulness is taken as an inseparable part of the Eightfold Way, and not as a means to achieve a separate mental aim. Another important emphasis of Mahayana Buddhism is that mindfulness does not aim at something new, but instead leads our awareness towards a deeper origin, which has already been present with us. While the initial form of mindfulness clings to various methods and achievements, the higher form lies bare in the present moment, always ready to reveal itself. When we are ready to let go of all that we achieve and do, we can surrender our being to the here and now.

Self-assembled molecular capsules, host structures that form spontaneously when their building blocks are mixed, have been known since the 1990s. They share some basic similarities with enzyme pockets, as they feature defined hydrophobic binding pockets that are able to bind molecules of appropriate size and shape. The potential to utilize such host structures for catalysis has been explored since their discovery; however, applications that solve current challenges in synthetic organic chemistry have remained limited. In this short article, we discuss the challenges associated with the use of molecular capsules as catalysts, and highlight some recent applications of supramolecular capsules to overcome challenges in synthetic organic chemistry.

Abstract:
The composition and dental properties of eight different soft drinks, representing some of the most popular types used in the UK, were examined. Demineralization experiments were conducted on hydroxylapatite, the basic component of dental enamel, determining calcium dissolving by atomic absorption spectroscopy and phosphorus by u.v. visual spectrophotometry. The titratable acid content of the drinks was found to give a better guide than their pH to their potential dental erosiveness. The sugar content, in their ready-to-drink form, varied from zero in a low-calorie product up to almost 14 % in a blackcurrant drink, but using a technique with a relatively long contact time, and in the absence of intact dental plaque, the demineralizing action on hydroxylapatite of the acids already in the drinks eclipsed the effects of the acid generated by oral micro-organisms from the sugars in the drinks. The pure citrus juices showed potentially the worst dental properties, followed by the orange and blackcurrant concentrates after dilution to their ready-to-drink form, with least demineralization from the carbonated drinks, and a cola drink giving especially low values.

Abstract:
Form discussions, which is one of the main reasons for the great breaks and new beginnings in art, freed the artists by moving art to an experimental field and became effective in the context of the point that today's art has reached. Although the idea of ready-made object was perceived as a kind of mediocrity and loss of aura in art in the early days, this situation, which was shaped under an aesthetic point of view, is no longer in a disadvantageous position as before. Accordingly, the pictorial descriptions of all forms of daily life, as well as the direct or associated use, started with Modernism and continued until today. While the mirror, which is one of these forms, is an image that is frequently used in oil painting descriptions, it has evolved to a conceptual level over time. It has attracted the attention of today's artists because it corresponds to reflection, reflection, showing, hiding, transforming, duplicating and many more. In this context, the methods of using the mirror as an artistic form and how it is positioned as a work of art will be discussed, and within the scope of this article, the works of contemporary artists who have mirror-oriented works will be included. As a research method, besides printed sources, images of artists and works of art will be examined and transferred via internet-based data.
