Abstract:
“The training I received from PLYMC’s Kindergarten Readiness Workshop didn’t simply help me to understand the number of ways our libraries are striving to support school readiness, it enabled me to effectively communicate with and engage parents and caregivers as to how they can be active participants in this endeavor as well. The workshop group activities created a dialogue that allowed me to internalize what we learned from the assigned readings by coming up with and discussing the different ways learning domains can be implemented in practice.”—Marnie Alvarez, Readers’ Services Librarian, Main LibraryThe growth articulated here is the result of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s (PLYMC) Kindergarten Readiness Initiative. Mahoning County (OH) has a long history of supporting early literacy. After reviewing kindergarten readiness assessment results for our county, we realized we could strengthen our value in the community by articulating how we support all school readiness domains and look for ways to increase support to families who most need kindergarten readiness support.

Abstract:
Many of the systems that control the critical infrastructure were not originally designed with security in mind. This has left us vulnerable to unwanted attacks in many of the environments. It has become essential that the authors determine if their infrastructures are better prepared for existing and future threats. In this study, the authors will examine the impact of attacks, including terrorist attacks on critical infrastructures, in particular, the Energy sector. The results show that in spite of the warnings of the threats carried out in various sectors and organizations around the world, they have still remain extremely vulnerable because of a number of critical security issues that hamper their ability to better serve and protect our vital information assets. The authors examine some of the most prominent models being used today and how they may be modified to better serve the needs of their user communities and key stakeholders.

Abstract:
This article explores the challenges of engaging historically excluded communities with archives and archival discourse, focusing on people and communities experiencing homelessness. Positioning the phrase literal homelessness, which is used in the United States to determine eligibility for an annual census of people experiencing homelessness, as representative of ongoing exclusive and non-collaborative forms of recordkeeping, the author proposes a concept that she calls archival readiness to move toward archive making, rather than archive taking, with historically excluded communities. Using her experiences as a part-time staff member in a temporary emergency shelter that was established during the COVID-19 pandemic, she shows how archival readiness, based on ongoing relationships among archivists, researchers, community organizations, and individuals, would increase the likelihood that shelter guests would participate in archiving. Exploring how homelessness creates challenges for the development of inclusive institutional and community-archiving praxes, she argues that while archival readiness would not solve each of these challenges, it could enable historically excluded communities to participate in generating other approaches. The author enacts archival readiness by sharing three records from the shelter and her interpretations of them, introducing forms of information about shelter living that is not collected in official data that tracks “literal homelessness.”

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to delineate key aspects of backshoring readiness and discuss how such aspects contribute to a smooth shift-back from global sourcing operations. It aims to answer the following questions: which factors constitute backshoring readiness and how these factors affect the backshoring transition.Design/methodology/approachBased on theory departure from the organizational readiness field and the emerging field on backshoring, a conceptual model is developed. A multiple qualitative case study is then conducted to exemplify the backshoring readiness factors delineated in the study.FindingsThe study indicates that due to previous outsourcing, limitations concerning the availability of firms’ capabilities are affected by ownership structures and that backshoring appears to be time-sensitive. The study delineates three key aspects of backshoring readiness and proposes a comprehensive understanding of readiness as an important construct to enhance successful backshoring.Research limitations/implicationsThe findings are limited by the nature of this conceptual study, the restriction to a high-cost context and the small number of cases. Therefore, conclusions and proposed recommendations need to be further investigated in preferably larger samples of case studies.Practical implicationsBy introducing contextual variables that go beyond traditional cost considerations, this work should be of special interest for both practitioners and academics, because the absorptive capacity for the exploitation of cutting-edge knowledge is globally scarce and hence rather expensive in Western countries compared with traditionally low-cost countries. Another practical contribution of this study is the conceptual backshoring readiness framework itself, as it can guide firms acquainting themselves with the resource availability in their home environment.Originality/valueThe research defines key resources needed to facilitate backshoring readiness in a conceptual framework developed from literature, which is then exemplified by a case study. This framework conceptualizes backshoring readiness as aspects of requirements to knowledge, technology and supplier infrastructures. Furthermore, the readiness framework developed provides firms and their managers with six recommendations that can enable a rigorous evaluation of a firm’s readiness to embark on backshoring and reflect on the aspect of fitness of its current strategies.

Abstract:
In order to compete with other job seekers, a university graduate should have adequate provisions. In addition to knowledge and skills, they also need to possess readiness to enter the workplace, which is known as work readiness. Work readiness is characterized by having a number of skills, knowledge, basic attitudes, and practical understanding that enable an individual to work productively and to achieve the goals of the organization. Work readiness is influenced by individual internal and external factors. In this study, the internal factor studied is psychological capital, namely an individual’s positive psychological state of development characterized by self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience. Furthermore, the external factor studied is social support, namely the perception or actualization of care or assistance from a social network. This research implemented a non-experimental quantitative method, by distributing the Work Readines Inventory developed by Brady (2010), the Psychological Capital Questionnaire developed by Luthans et al. (2007), and the Personal Resources Questionnaire (PRQ2000) developed by Weinert (2003) to 124 students of University X in Jakarta, Indonesia. The results showed that work readiness of the students of University X is significantly influenced by psychological capital (F= 131.291; p< 0.000) and social support (F= 67.007; p< 0.000).

Abstract:
The new line of research in language policy and planning acknowledges the importance of decentralized language policy decisions. There is widespread dissatisfaction with central governments' top-down approach, and it is time to redirect the wheels. Covid 19 imposed a hybrid education model in Morocco: teacher-directed versus self-directed learning. The purpose of this paper is to investigate ESL teachers’ readiness in sustaining a self-directed learning language policy using Guglielmino readiness scale. The results will sustain research in critical language policy and seek ways to involve teachers in policymaking.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the essence of the concept of “the future teacher’s readinessˮ on the basis of theoretical indicators: knowledge, skills and abilities through the indicator of the educational employee’s professionalism in professional activity. It presents the role of the teacherʼs work in the society, which is considered through the prism of basic values: scientific, cultural, and traditional as a great responsibility to the society for the quality education of primary school children. The professionalism of a new type of teachers in the new Ukrainian school which is based on the harmonious development of the junior school student is revealed. It is argued that the readiness of primary school teachers to work with younger students in primary education is of great importance. The opinion is highlighted that the main goal of education is a comprehensively developed personality in the aspect of moving from traditional to innovative learning. Various approaches (competence, personality-oriented, dialogical, criterion, synergetic) are used to develop the future primary school teachers’ readiness. The importance of these approaches is presented in the form of a structured system of the teacher’s readiness based on a disordered flow of information. Emphasis is placed on the readiness of the future primary school teachers through individual characteristics. It is stated that the readiness of the primary school teachers contributes to the modernization of the education system of the primary school children. Keywords: future teacher’s readiness, dialogical approach, competence approach, criterion approach, personality-oriented approach, primary school, teacher professionalism, professional activity, synergetic approach, structured system.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine whether online students' course-related readiness would undergo changes between midterm exams and final exams, and which student-readiness factors might predict students' willingness to take an online course again. The analysis used survey data from 217 students enrolled in an online course that was presented three times over three consecutive semesters. The results of this study were as follows: (1) an increase in communication self-efficacy and a decrease in learner control and in motivation for learning from middle of the semester to the end of the semester; (2) communication self-efficacy and learning motivation were statistically significant predictors of the students' willingness to take future online courses.
