Full textThis thesis deals with people detection and re-identification in an environment instrumented by a network of disjoint-field cameras. It stands at the confluence of the Operational Research and Computer Vision communities as combinatorial optimization techniques are used to formalize new computer vision methods. In this context, a people visual detector, based on mixed-integer programming, is first propose that simultaneously take computation time and detection performances into account. This detector is evaluated and compared to the best detectors of the literature. These experiments, conducted on two public databases, clearly demonstrate the interest of our detector in terms of processing time with detection performance guarantee. The second part of the thesis deals with people re-identification. Our novel approach, called D-NCR (Directed Network Consistent Re-identification), explicitly takes minimum transit times in the camera network into account, as well as the network topology, in order to improve the re-identification performance. This problem is similar to the determination of particular maximum-profitable independent paths in an oriented graph. A mixed-integer program is proposed to model and solve this problem. The experiments made on a public dataset sound promising and tend to prove the potential of the approach

Full textThe study presented in this thesis concerns the scheduling flow problem in the semiconductor manufacturing plants. The scheduling problem in re-entrant systems has been particularly studied. The thesis is divided in five chapters. Ln the two first chapters, we study sorne notions and characteristics of semiconductor manufacturing systems. The mono-part type systems and multi-part type systems are been defined. The scheduling problem for the re-entrant systems is also emphasized. Ln the third chapter, several scheduling policies are studied. Sorne classical policies are recalled and sorne extension to multi-part type systems are studied. We introduce a new scheduling policy: FIFO(LBFS). The problem of stability of scheduling policies is discussed in the fourth chapter. Sorne proofs of stability and counter-examples are presented. For studying and analysing policies performance, many simulation examples are presented in the last chapter

Full textIn the Probabilistic Bin Packing Problem (PBPP) the random deletion of some items once placed into bins. The problem is to rearrange the residual items, using the a priori solution. The initial arrangement being done with the Next Fit Decreasing Heuristic (NFD). We propose two resolution methodologies: the redistribution strategy according to NFD and the a priori strategy. In the first one, the Next fit algorithm is applied to the new list. In the second one, successive groups of bins are optimally rearranged. In both cases, we develop an average case analysis for the (PBPP). We prove the law of large numbers and the central limit theorem for the number of occupied bins as the initial number of items tends to infinity. We verify these theoretical results by simulation
Yang, Bin. "Contribution to a kernel of symbolic asymptotic modeling software." Thesis, Besançon, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014BESA2055/document.
Full textThis thesis is dedicated to develop a kernel of a symbolic asymptotic modeling software packageMEMSALab which will be used for automatic generation of asymptotic models for arrays of micro andnanosystems. Unlike traditional software packages aimed at numerical simulations by using pre-builtmodels, the purpose of MEMSALab is to derive asymptotic models for input equations by taking intoaccount their own features. An approach called ”by extension-combination” for the asymptotic modelingwhich allows an incremental model construction is firstly proposed for the homogenization modelderivation. It relies on a combination of the asymptotic method used in the field of partial differentialequations with term rewriting techniques coming from computer science. This approach focuses onthe model derivation for family of PDEs instead of each of them. An homogenization model of theelectrothermoelastic equation defined in a multi-layered thin domain has been derived by applyingthe mathematical method used in this approach. At last, an optimization tool has been developed bycombining a house-made optimization software package SIMBAD and COMSOL-MATLAB simulationand it has been applied for optimization of a SThM probe
Hallet, Christophe. "Etude et réalisation de filtres matriochkas pour des applications spatiales." Thesis, Brest, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018BRES0052/document.
Full textThe matriochka resonator is based on reentrant coaxial Stepped Impedance Resonator (SIR). So, the thesis develops theoretical innovations on the matriochka technology offering accurate analytical models on the frequency and the quality factor behaviors of the resonator. The models prove the existence of degrees of freedom within the matriochka resonator which allows to get different form factors of the resonator. The degrees of freedom create many configurations of the matriochka resonator for a fundamental frequency and a quality factor. Consequently, a volume optimization is realized to design a L-band filter and a C-band filter. A multipactor study is also carried out for the L-band filter. So, a joint optimization method of the multipactor and the volume minimization is proposed for this filter. Thus, the models and optimisations are used in the order to to design and fabricate the microwave filters. The first one is a transmission L-band filter for the navigation application Galileo which offers a volume alternative and a high power in the vaccum. Then, the second one is a reception C-band filter for the telemetry application which offers wide spurious free-performance and a low volume compared to the state of the art. Finally, for a frequency and a quality factor and depending on the configurations, the matriochka technology offers an alternative of the resonator volume, and it offers a wide spurious free- performance and a low volume compared to the state of the art
Jin, Shendan. "Online computation beyond standard models." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Sorbonne université, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020SORUS152.
Full textIn the standard setting of online computation, the input is not entirely available from the beginning, but is revealed incrementally, piece by piece, as a sequence of requests. Whenever a request arrives, the online algorithm has to make immediately irrevocable decisions to serve the request, without knowledge on the future requests. Usually, the standard framework to evaluate the performance of online algorithms is competitive analysis, which compares the worst-case performance of an online algorithm to an offline optimal solution. In this thesis, we will study some new ways of looking at online problems. First, we study the online computation in the recourse model, in which the irrevocability on online decisions is relaxed. In other words, the online algorithm is allowed to go back and change previously made decisions. More precisely, we show how to identify the trade-off between the number of re-optimization and the performance of online algorithms for the online maximum matching problem. Moreover, we study measures other than competitive analysis for evaluating the performance of online algorithms. We observe that sometimes, competitive analysis cannot distinguish the performance of different algorithms due to the worst-case nature of the competitive ratio. We demonstrate that a similar situation arises in the linear search problem. More precisely, we revisit the linear search problem and introduce a measure, which can be applied as a refinement of the competitive ratio. Last, we study the online computation in the advice model, in which the algorithm receives as input not only a sequence of requests, but also some advice on the request sequence. Specifically, we study a recent model with untrusted advice, in which the advice can be either trusted or untrusted. Assume that in the latter case, the advice can be generated from a malicious source. We show how to identify a Pareto optimal strategy for the online bidding problem in the untrusted advice model

Full textPulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is recommended in the management of subjects with ventilatory impairment to improve their quality of life. Although a large body of evidence support its use, only few subjects benefit from it and the optimal training modality has not been determined yet. In this context, the use of new and existing tools to optimize access as well as the effects of the program are major developments that deserve to be studied. As part of this thesis, we sought to explore these two major issues (1) by considering a rehabilitation model relocated outside the PR centres while assessing the obstacles to this model and (2) exploring the effectiveness of different add-on to PR in further optimizing the benefits of the program. In the first part, we have shown, through several retrospective studies and an original prospective multicentre contribution, that the six-minute stepper test can be used to prescribe endurance training, particularly for those patients with a mild to moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but not to prescribe muscle strengthening. Furthermore, we have shown in a cohort of 105 subjects referred for PR that the use of a remote tele monitoring device was feasible, valid and widely accepted. Finally, we explored the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction, another systemic impairment of COPD that could compromise the relocation of the program, and showed that it was a very common condition (around 75% of the subjects) but that it could improve following PR and did not seem to influence the use of a remote tele monitoring device. In the second part, we evaluated the effects of different add-on used to potentiate the benefits of the PR program. In a cross-over study of 21 COPD patients, we showed that non-invasive ventilation did not improve endurance exercise capacity due to technological limitation of the ventilator. Through a multicentre randomized controlled study carried out in 73 patients with severe to very severe COPD, we have shown that neuromuscular electrical stimulation at home, performed in addition to a PR program, did not provide further benefits on quality of life or exercise capacity. Finally, through a randomized cross-over double-blind study carried out in 10 patients, we were unable to show the effectiveness of transcutaneous nerve electrical stimulation in improving their endurance exercise capacity. Finally, in a last part, we highlighted the research currently carried out in our laboratory following the original contributions described during this thesis, as well as new area of research in order to pursue the themes explored. Thus, two systematic reviews and meta-analysis (the first about nasal high flow therapy in subjects with stable COPD and the second about the use of advanced telehealth technologies to deliver PR) will serve as a basis for future research
