Abstract:
ABSTRACT The present study evaluated the potential of recombinant binding region A of clumping factor A (rClfA-A) to be an effective component of a vaccine against mastitis induced by Staphylococcus aureus in the mouse. rClfA-A and inactivated S. aureus were each emulsified in Freund's adjuvant, mineral oil adjuvant, and Seppic adjuvant; phosphate-buffered saline was used as a control. Seven groups of 12 mice each were immunized intraperitoneally three times at 2-week intervals. The titers of IgG and subtypes thereof (IgG1 and IgG2a) in the rClfA-A-immunized group were more than 1,000-fold higher than those in the killed-bacteria-immunized group (P < 0.01). Of the three adjuvants used, mineral oil adjuvant induced the highest antibody levels for both antigens (P < 0.001). Furthermore, the anti-rClfA-A antibody capacities for bacterial adhesion and opsonizing phagocytosis were significantly greater in the rClfA-A-immunized group than in the killed-bacteria-immunized group (P < 0.05). Lactating mice immunized with either rClfA-A or inactivated vaccine were challenged with S. aureus via the intramammary route. The numbers of bacteria recovered from the murine mammary glands 24 h after inoculation were significantly lower in the rClfA-A group than in the killed-bacteria-immunized group (P < 0.001). Histologic examination of the mammary glands showed that rClfA-A immunization effectively preserved tissue integrity. Thus, rClfA-A emulsified in an oil adjuvant provides strong immune protection against S. aureus-induced mastitis in the mouse.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT There is currently no licensed vaccine against Chlamydia trachomatis, the leading cause of sexually transmitted bacterial disease worldwide. Conventional vaccination attempts using surface-exposed chlamydial antigens have achieved only partial success. We have employed a novel vaccination strategy using a secreted protein, chlamydial protease-like activity factor (CPAF), which has been shown to degrade host major histocompatibility complex transcription factors and keratin-8 and therefore may allow immune evasion and establishment of a productive infection. Intranasal immunization using recombinant CPAF (rCPAF) plus interleukin-12 (IL-12) (rCPAF+IL-12 immunization) was used to assess the protective immunity against genital Chlamydia muridarum infection in BALB/c mice. rCPAF+IL-12 immunization induced robust gamma interferon (IFN-γ) production and minimal IL-4 production by splenocytes upon in vitro recall with rCPAF. The total and immunoglobulin G2a (IgG2a) anti-rCPAF antibody levels in serum were significantly elevated after rCPAF+IL-12 vaccination, as were the total antibody, IgG2a, and IgA levels in bronchoalveolar lavage and vaginal fluids when the animals were compared to animals that received rCPAF alone. rCPAF+IL-12-vaccinated mice displayed significantly reduced bacterial shedding upon chlamydial challenge and accelerated resolution of infection compared to mock-immunized (phosphate-buffered saline) animals. Moreover, rCPAF+IL-12-immunized animals exhibited protection against pathological consequences of chlamydial infection, including the development of hydrosalpinx and oviduct dilatation. This vaccination regimen also reduced the development of fibrosis and the influx of neutrophils into the upper genital tract when the animals were compared to mock-immunized (phosphate-buffered saline) animals after bacterial challenge. rCPAF+IL-12-mediated resolution of the bacterial infection and protection against Chlamydia-induced inflammatory disease were highly dependent on endogenous IFN-γ production. Together, these results demonstrate that secreted chlamydial antigens may be novel vaccine candidates to induce protective immunity.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We have previously demonstrated the efficacy of recombinant chlamydial protease-like activity factor (rCPAF; a secreted chlamydial protein) in inducing antigen-specific CD4+ T cell/gamma interferon (IFN-γ)-mediated but not antibody-mediated chlamydial clearance and reduction of upper genital tract (UGT) pathological sequelae. Since chlamydial integral antigens may induce neutralizing antibody protection, we further evaluated induction of protective immunity using a combination of rCPAF and UV-inactivated chlamydial elementary bodies (UV-EB) against vaginal chlamydial challenge in comparison to immunization with the individual components or live EB. The rCPAF-UV-EB immunization induced a significantly enhanced anti-UV-EB cellular and antibody response and a reduced anti-CPAF cellular and antibody response, compared to immunization with the respective individual components. Moreover, vaccination with UV-EB and rCPAF-UV-EB induced serum antibodies that neutralized chlamydial infectivity. The rCPAF-UV-EB immunization resulted in a significant reduction of vaginal chlamydial shedding and induced earlier bacterial clearance than vaccination of mice with the individual components. Importantly, the UGT sequelae were significantly reduced in mice immunized with rCPAF or rCPAF-UV-EB, but not in those immunized with UV-EB alone, and approached the levels of protection induced by live EB. These results collectively suggest that a combination of neutralizing antibodies induced by integral chlamydial antigens and cell-mediated responses induced by secreted proteins such as CPAF induces optimal protective immunity against genital chlamydial infections.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT An important consideration for antichlamydial vaccine development is the induction of cross-serovar protection, since multiple serovars (D to L) of Chlamydia trachomatis cause genital infections. We have shown previously that vaccination with C. trachomatis-derived recombinant chlamydial protease-like activity factor (rCPAF) induced significant earlier resolution of Chlamydia muridarum infection and reduced oviduct pathology. However, the vaccinated mice continued to shed chlamydiae for up to 2 weeks after challenge. In this study, C. trachomatis serovar D recombinant proteins, such as recombinant major outer membrane protein (rMOMP), recombinant inclusion membrane protein A (rIncA), and rCPAF were administered intranasally, individually or in combinations, with murine interleukin-12 (IL-12) as an adjuvant, and cross-species immunity against intravaginal C. muridarum infection was examined. Immunization with rCPAF plus IL-12 (rCPAF+IL-12), compared to immunization with rIncA+IL-12 or rMOMP+IL-12, induced the greatest antigen-specific gamma interferon production from purified CD4+ T cells and concurrently enhanced serum antibody production. All (100%) the animals vaccinated with rCPAF+IL-12 alone or in any combination completely resolved the infection by day 18 after challenge compared to animals vaccinated with rIncA+IL-12 (50%), rMOMP+IL-12 (33%), or phosphate-buffered saline (mock vaccinated; 0%). Moreover, oviduct pathology in mice vaccinated by any regimen that included rCPAF, but not rMOMP+IL-12 or rIncA+IL-12 alone, was markedly reduced compared to mock-immunized animals. The addition of rMOMP and/or rIncA did not significantly enhance the rCPAF+IL-12-induced effect on bacterial clearance or oviduct pathology. These results suggest a greater conservation of protective linear antigenic epitopes within CPAF than MOMP or IncA across the examined serovars and the need to identify other highly conserved antigens for use with rCPAF in a multisubunit recombinant vaccine.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Prokaryotic secretion relies on proteins that are widely conserved, including NTPases and secretins, and on proteins that are system specific. The Tad secretion system in Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is dedicated to the assembly and export of Flp pili, which are needed for tight adherence. Consistent with predictions that RcpA forms the multimeric outer membrane secretion channel (secretin) of the Flp pilus biogenesis apparatus, we observed the RcpA protein in multimers that were stable in the presence of detergent and found that rcpA and its closely related homologs form a novel and distinct subfamily within a well-supported gene phylogeny of the entire secretin gene superfamily. We also found that rcpA-like genes were always linked to Aggregatibacter rcpB- or Caulobacter cpaD-like genes. Using antisera, we determined the localization and gross abundances of conserved (RcpA and TadC) and unique (RcpB, RcpC, and TadD) Tad proteins. The three Rcp proteins (RcpA, RcpB, and RcpC) and TadD, a putative lipoprotein, localized to the bacterial outer membrane. RcpA, RcpC, and TadD were also found in the inner membrane, while TadC localized exclusively to the inner membrane. The RcpA secretin was necessary for wild-type abundances of RcpB and RcpC, and TadC was required for normal levels of all three Rcp proteins. TadC abundance defects were observed in rcpA and rcpC mutants. TadD production was essential for wild-type RcpA and RcpB abundances, and RcpA did not multimerize or localize to the outer membrane without the expression of TadD. These data indicate that membrane proteins TadC and TadD may influence the assembly, transport, and/or function of individual outer membrane Rcp proteins.

Abstract:
Our aim was to investigate the effects of acute cold pressor test (CPT) on augmentation index (AI) and wave intensity (WI) indexes from right common carotid artery (RCCA) and right common femoral artery (RCFA) and to test whether the reflection coefficient (RC) from wave intensity analysis can reflect the distal vascular resistance (DVR) accurately. Forty-three healthy males were randomly selected for measurements at baseline and 1 min after CPT at RCCA or RCFA. CPT induced similar increases of heart rate and blood pressure in RCCA and RCFA groups with their pulse pressures unchanged. The W2 (the second peak of WI) was too obscure in RCFA to be analyzed. The W1 (the first peak of WI) of both arteries, W1-W2 (interval between W1 and W2), and NA (negative area between W1 and W2, indicating reflected waves) of RCCA and the R-W1 (interval between the R wave of ECG and W1) of RCFA decreased obviously, whereas the W2 and R-W1 of RCCA and the RC (calculated as NA/W1) of RCFA increased with no changes in the RC of RCCA and the NA of RCFA during CPT compared with baseline. The AIs from both arteries increased significantly after CPT. These results suggested that acute CPT has opposing effects on cerebral and peripheral vascular resistances, with the former decreased and the latter increased. The RCs from RCCA and RCFA are more associated with the changes of cerebral and peripheral vascular resistances, respectively, than the NA and AI, and the RC is of guiding value in assessing DVR.

Abstract:
The Royal College of Pathologists (RCPA) and then RCPA Quality Assurance Programs Pty Ltd (RCPAQAP), a company independent from but aligned with the RCPA, have been producing proficiency testing programs (PTP) for infectious diseases for 52 years. This involves sending infectious disease material in surveys to over 80 countries worldwide throughout any year. The PTP panels are developed depending on the prevalence of diseases, which requires flexible panel composition and dynamic enrolments. The Defence Trade Controls Act was introduced in 2012 as part of a wider international regulatory counter-proliferation framework. In 2017, the inclusion of inactivated infectious diseases as controlled microorganisms in the Defence Strategic Goods List (DSGL) had the potential to completely disrupt the RCPAQAP business model in the provision of infectious disease PTP. Some strategies for mitigating this risk are discussed in this paper.

Abstract:
In the shallow-water waveguide environment, the tonal signals radiated by moving targets carry modal interference and Doppler shift information. The modal interference can be used to obtain the time of the closest point of approach (tCPA) and the ratio of the range at the closest point of approach to the velocity of the source (rCPA/v). However, parameters rCPA and v cannot be solved separately. When tCPA is known, the rCPA and the v of the target can be obtained theoretically by using the Doppler information. However, when the Doppler frequency shift is small or at a low signal-to-noise ratio, there will be a strong parametric coupling between rCPA and v. In order to solve the above parameter coupling problem, a target motion parameter estimation method from tonal signals with a single hydrophone is proposed in this paper. The method uses the Doppler and modal interference information carried by the tonal signals to obtain two different parametric coupling curves. Then, the parametric coupling curves can be used to estimate the two motion parameters. Simulation experiments verified the rationality of this method. The proposed method was applied to the SWellEx-96 and speedboat experiments, and the estimation errors of the motion parameters were within 10%, which shows the method is effective in its practical applications.

Abstract:
Recycled aggregates have been widely studied and used in concrete products nowadays. There are still many waste materials that can be used as recycled aggregates other than crushed concrete particles. This paper aims to study the property variations of sustainable concrete paving block incorporating different contents of construction wastes. Five different types of waste materials were used in this project, including: recycled concrete coarse aggregate (RCCA), recycled concrete fine aggregate (RCFA), crushed glass (CG), crumb rubber (CB), and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS). According to the test results of the properties of blocks mixed with different levels of wastes materials, it is concluded that adding both RCCA and RCFA in the block can decrease its strength and increase the water absorption. The suggested replacement levels for RCCA and RCFA are 60% and 20%, respectively. Mixing crushed glass in the concrete paving blocks as a type of coarse aggregates can improve the blocks’ strength and decrease the blocks’ water absorption. Addition of crumb rubber causes a significant deterioration of blocks’ properties except for its slip resistance.

Abstract:
Abstract The calf muscle pump is a major determinate of venous return in the legs but has not been studied as a risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE). A population-based cohort study of Olmsted County, Minnesota residents was performed using calf pump function (CPF) measurements from venous plethysmography studies from 1998 to 2015. Patients with a history of VTE were excluded. Nursing validated VTE outcomes from the Rochester Epidemiology Project were identified after the index study date, and patients with reduced CPF (rCPF) were compared with patients with normal CPF. A total of 1532 patients with recorded CPF (28% air and 72% strain gauge plethysmography) were included; 591 (38.5%) had normal CPF, 353 (23.0%) had unilateral rCPF, and 588 (38.3%) had bilateral rCPF. Any VTE occurred in 87 patients (5.7%) after a median follow-up of 11.7 years (range, 0-22.0 years). Comparing patients with bilateral reduced to bilateral normal CPF, the unadjusted hazard ratio (HR) for incident VTE was 2.0 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.2-3.4) and after adjusting for age, BMI, and Charlson Comorbidity Index, the HR was 1.68 (95% CI, 0.98-2.89). The adjusted HR for ipsilateral deep vein thrombosis was evaluated in 3064 legs comparing legs with reduced to normal CPF and was 1.71 (95% CI, 1.03-2.84). Mortality was significantly higher in both the bilateral (P < .001) and unilateral (P < .001) rCPF groups compared with normal CPF. Our results demonstrate that CPF is a risk factor for VTE in an otherwise low-risk ambulatory population and might be a useful component in risk stratification models.

Abstract:
Background: Venous return from the lower extremities is pumped upwards to the right side of the heart in a process that is facilitated by one-way valves and the venous muscle pump, of which the calf muscle pump is a major contributor1-3. Venous plethysmography can quantitatively assess calf pump function (CPF). The association between the CPF and venous thromboembolism (VTE) has not been investigated. Methods: Venous plethysmography (VP) data (strain gauge or air plethysmography) from the Mayo Clinic Vascular Lab database (1998-2015) of CPF (bilaterally reduced, unilaterally reduced, and bilateral normal) were examined in Olmsted County Residents. The Rochester Epidemiology Project (REP) captures the population of Olmsted County and contains demographic information, medical diagnoses, hospital admissions, and surgical procedures as well as validated VTE events and death. Patients with signs of obstructed outflow in either extremity on the venous plethysmography (a possible sign of acute or chronic deep vein thrombosis) study were excluded. Patients with a history of VTE diagnosed before the physiologic study were also excluded. If more than one measurement of calf muscle pump function was performed, only the first measurement was used. The primary outcome was a composite of any VTE, including proximal and distal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). Results: 1703 Olmsted County residents had venous plethysmography studies performed. MN research authorization was denied in 64 patients and 107 were excluded for any documented VTE preceding index VP study. 1532 patients with recorded CPF (28% air and 72% strain gauge plethysmography) were studied: 591 (38.5%) had normal CPF, 353 (23.0%) had unilateral reduced CPF (rCPF), and 588 (38.3%) had bilateral rCPF. The mean age was 64.4 (SD 18.4), 68.9% were female, and the mean BMI was 29.5 (SD 6.4). Any VTE occurred in 87 patients (5.7%) after a mean follow up of 10.9 years (range 0-22.0 years). Isolated lower extremity DVT (excluding concurrent PE) occurred in 49 patients and PE+/-DVT occurred in 38 patients. Death occurred in 352 patients (23%). Bilateral rCPF compared to bilateral normal CPF was associated with VTE (p=0.007), DVT only (p=0.02) and death (p<0.001) but not PE+/-DVT (p=0.13). Unilateral rCPF compared to bilateral normal CPF was not associated with VTE, but was associated with death (p<0.001). Kaplan-Meier curves for VTE and death are shown in Figure 1. The hazard ratio for bilateral rCPF compared to bilateral normal CPF for VTE was 2.0 (95% CI 1.2-3.4) and for DVT only was 2.2 (95% CI 1.1-4.2). A sensitivity analysis for the main outcome of VTE did not show significant interaction based on the type of plethysmography (strain vs. air), by age stratified at 65 years, sex, or BMI stratified at 30 (p>0.1 for each comparison). Conclusion: In this population-based study of Olmsted County residents with no prior VTE, rCPF function as measured by venous plethysmography is associated with increased risk for VTE, particularly lower extremity proximal DVT. More research is required to understand what additional measures of venous physiology influence these findings and whether CPF could be used in VTE risk stratification. Vibration due to misalignment in the hydraulic pump is detected as the main problem of damage to the pump. Resolved a problem with the alignment of the pump, shaft alignment as an action in overcoming the problem. Vibration measurements are carried out during alignment and misalignment conditions by using a vibration measuring instrument, namely vibration analysis fluke 810. Voltage, current, electrical power, motor & pump rotation, and other operating parameters are observed. Vibration analysis is done by observing the velocity and frequency of the wave signal for alignment and misalignment conditions. Vibration analysis is performed using a comparison method to the ISO 10816-3 tester standard. Finally obtained an ideal vibration in the operation of hydraulic pumps based on the above standards. The method used to analyze using the tool RCFA (root cause failure analysis) which is an investigation process to determine the main causes of a failure mode. From the analysis, we concluded that the formulation RCFA rise broken of coupling.

Abstract:
The urgent need to curb climate change calls for an energy transition to cleaner, more resilient and sustainable solutions. Combined designs of energy storage systems and demand management strategies are becoming more frequent in the literature. However, are these solutions really sustainable from a multi-dimensional approach and in real-world applications? To answer this question, this work performs a local and scaled-up field-based evaluation of the social and environmental impacts of a pilot project in Brazil, which consists of replacing diesel generators with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in a peak power plant of a Medium Voltage (MV) commercial load. For this, the combined RCPA-LCI method is applied, which allows characterizing both energy alternatives jointly considering the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) and the multi-dimensional evaluation perspective of the Resource Complete Potential Assessment (RCPA). Then, the scalability of this commercial solution at the national level is analyzed through two main lenses: GHG emissions reduction and job generation. The benefits are estimated at a potential 15.4 million tons of CO2 avoided and 113 new job opportunities per year. The results demonstrate the positive socio-environmental performance of BESS-based peak plants for MV commercial applications in Brazil.

Abstract:
This research investigated the effect of Renolith chemical polymer additive (RCPA) on the properties of expanded polystyrene (ESP) concrete. Renolith chemical additive is a polymer-based product in a liquid form made up of latex and cellulose. Polystyrene panels were collected as a waste materials and grinded into smaller beads. An experimental investigation was carried out on the EPS replacement ranging from 0% to 100% on the M30 (C25/C30) mix design. Engineering properties, such as workability, density, water absorption, compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength tests, were studied for both the conventional and EPS concrete. The results indicate that workability increases with increasing amount of EPS contents. Water absorption, compressive, tensile, and flexural strength yielded a satisfactory result at 0-50% replacement. The density of the EPS concrete at 0-37.5% replacement revealed similar values to a conventional concrete; and light-weight concrete (1817.5 - 1030 kg⁄m3) was achieved at a 50-100% replacement. Generally, the addition of the RCPA to the concrete mix has caused an improvement in the properties of the EPS concrete. It was concluded that EPS beads can be used as a partial replacement for coarse aggregates in the production of both structural light-weight and dense concrete. The replacement of coarse aggregate with EPS beads showed a positive application as an alternative material for the construction industry.

"Supported Nanosizedα-FeOOH Improves Efficiency of Photoelectro-Fenton Process with Reaction-Controlled pH Adjustment for Sustainable Water Treatment." International Journal of Photoenergy 2012 (2012): 1–7. http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/689807.

Abstract:
The overall photoelectro-Fenton (PE-Fenton) process for water treatment with neutral initial pH includes three steps of pH reduction, PE-Fenton reaction, and pH elevation. Reaction-controlled pH adjustment (RCpA), which utilizes the intrinsic electrochemical reactions instead of chemical addition, has been employed to lower the pH, maintain the lowered pH for the Fenton reaction, and recover the pH for final effluent discharge. This study demonstrated that the overall efficiency of this sustainable PE-Fenton process was improved by rapidly recycling the iron substance. Nanosized iron oxide was prepared and employed to ensure such rapid recycling. SEM and XRD results showed that the as-prepared iron oxide wasα-FeOOH with 20 nm in size. The experimental results of dimethyl phthalate (DMP) degradation showed that diatomite-supportedα-FeOOH (N-α-FeOOH/diatomite) could efficiently reduce the DMP concentration and total organic carbon. Furthermore, compared with Fe3+, the N-α-FeOOH/diatomite saved 160 min for iron settlement at 20 mg L−1DMP concentration. Also, with the increment in the initial DMP concentration, extra energy consumed by the individual step of PE-Fenton reaction using the N-α-FeOOH/diatomite became negligible compared with that using free iron ions with the increment in the initial DMP concentration. This development is expected to be a major step of the PE-Fenton process with RCpA towards actual water treatment.

Abstract:
Failure analysis on the fishing vessel's main engine is one of the works that must be completed because it is crucial for the operation of the ship. Analysis of determining the cause and effect of the failure main engine fuel system is the goal of this study. FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) is a method used to determine priority components in failure. The use of Pareto diagrams is an additional method of analysis. RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) is used to analyze the root cause of the failure of the main engine fuel system. The results obtained are the injector component (168) is the component that has the highest RPN value and is the largest contributor to failure according to the Pareto diagram. The root of the failure identified is the lack of checking before operating. The results of the recommendations obtained are the use of corrective maintenance based on the RPN value and the use of a clean filter for the fuel system. The injector is a component that needs to be maintained so as not to experience a fuel system failure on the main engine. The impact of the results of this study is that it becomes a scientific finding using FMEA and RCFA as a method of analyzing failures in the main engine fuel system on fishing vessels

Abstract:
Over the past three decades, more than 8000 pedestrians have been killed in Australia due to vehicular crashes. There is a general assumption that pedestrians are often the most vulnerable to crashes. Sustainable transportation goals are at odds with the high risk of pedestrian fatalities and injuries in car crashes. It is imperative that the reasons for pedestrian injuries be identified if we are to improve the safety of this group of road users who are particularly susceptible. These results were obtained mostly through the use of well-established statistical approaches. A lack of flexibility in managing outliers, incomplete, or inconsistent data, as well as rigid pre-assumptions, have been criticized in these models. This study employed three well-known machine learning models to predict road-crash-related pedestrian fatalities (RCPF). These models included support vector machines (SVM), ensemble decision trees (EDT), and k-nearest neighbors (KNN). These models were hybridized with a Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm to find the optimum values of their hyperparameters, which are extremely important to accurately predict the RCPF. The findings of this study show that all the three models’ performance was improved using the BO. The KNN model had the highest improvement in accuracy (+11%) after the BO was applied to it. However, the ultimate accuracy of the SVM and EDT models was higher than that of the KNN model. This study establishes the framework for employing optimized machine learning techniques to reduce pedestrian fatalities in traffic accidents.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Background: Clinical interpretation of laboratory results is an integral part of clinical chemistry. However, the performance goals for assessing interpretative commenting in this discipline have not been as well established as for the quality of analytical requirements. Methods: We present a review of the 10 case reports circulated in the 2002 Patient Report Comments Program by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) and the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists Chemical Pathology Group of RCPA-Quality Assurance Programs Pty Ltd. Participants were expected to add an interpretative comment to a set of results accompanied by brief clinical details. Comments received were broken down into components that were translated into key phrases. An expert panel evaluated the appropriateness of the key phrases and proposed a suggested composite comment. A case summary/rationale was also returned to participants. Results: There was considerable diversity in the range of interpretative comments received for each case report. Although the majority of comments received were felt to be acceptable by the expert panel, some comments were felt to be inappropriate, misleading, or in a few instances, dangerous. Conclusion: The golden rule in medicine is “do no harm”. Although there is no objective evidence that interpretive comments help to improve patient outcomes, if comments are added to reports it is important that they reflect accepted practice and current guidelines. It is of concern that a large proportion of comments returned were considered to be inappropriate and/or misleading. The Patient Report Comments Program has highlighted the need to consider limiting commenting to persons with clear expertise.

Abstract:
The paper presents the features of terminology and classification of fish products for food and non-food purposes in the nomenclature of various levels: national (All-Russian product classifier by economic activity (RCPA 2) and international (The Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature of the Customs Union (FEACN of the CU). In the course of the study there was conducted a comparison of the codes of fish products within the framework of the existing methodology for the formation of transition keys. In the classification of fish products in FEACN of CU there has been stated the imperfection of methodological and information base, illogicality and ambiguity associated with the lack of clear definitions of terms in EAEU Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activity and in regulatory documents, with a discrepancy between concepts adopted in commodity research and international commodity nomenclature, as well as the lack of development of fish product identification for customs regulation in terms of specificity of the consumer properties of fish products. Correspondence of the codes of the international commodity nomenclature (UCN FEA EAEU) and the Russian classifier (RCPA 2) is recorded in the table reflecting the possible correlation options for the codes of the classifiers in relation to certain types of fish products (fish meal, fish glue, fish gelatin, fish roe), which are set by transition keys. There has been required the development of a unified approach to the interpretation of fish product codes under the FEACN of CU, as well as the development of unified terminology for omitting a subjective assessment in the analysis of consumer properties and product indicators.
