Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe increase in the rattan industry has skyrocketed in line with the ban on exports of rattan raw materials by the government. This condition can certainly be an opportunity for the rattan industry, especially UMKM or rattan centers engaged in the rattan product business. One of the rattan centers owned by West Sumatra is the Anil Furniture Rattan Center in Padang, which is a Rattan Product UMKM that is still standing and surviving in selling rattan products. However, so far, UMKM in rattan products at Anil Furniture have experienced a decline and have been in place in the sale of rattan products. This has an impact on decreasing the motivation of craftsmen in making and selling rattan products. However, so far the UMKM players in rattan products at Anil Furniture have experienced a decline and have stalled in the sale of rattan products. The decline in product sales was due to the fact that the products produced were always repetitive (reproducing similar patterns or shapes) so that the market for rattan products experienced sluggishness and did not develop. In this PKM, the ISI Padang Panjang Team tries to provide assistance with socialization methods, lectures and applications in developing rattan product designs found at the ANIL Furniture Rattan Center. ANIL Furniture Rattan Center is a Partner in this PKM which has 5 (five) craftsmen including the owner. The evaluation that the PKM ISI Padang Panjang TEAM has to look at the craftsman's ability to design and then understand the development of rattan products. The results achieved in this PKM are products that are designed according to the results of research on market tastes and then made into a prototype (three dimensional). keywords: rattan; market tastes; design; anil furniture.

This condition can certainly be an opportunity for the rattan craft industry, especially UMKM or rattan crafting centers engaged in rattan products business. One of the rattan centers in West Sumatra is Anil Furniture Rattan Center in Padang. Anil Furniture is a surviving UMKM in producing and selling rattan products. However, so far, Anil Furniture as one of existing UMKM has declined and stuck for the sale of rattan products. The condition is impacted on the decreasing of the artisan’s motivation in making and selling rattan products. The products designs sold at Anil Furniture are still conventional and minimum. Moreover, the making of rattan products in general is still under buyer control so that the artisans do not have their own original designs. Meanwhile, artisans still have to compete with other rattan crafts products in crafts market nationwide, in which the variety of products designs are vast. The community service program carried out aims to provide motivation and rise up the awareness of rattan artisans, so that they can be passionate in properly developing rattan product designs. The implementation method used is training and mentoring. The training is carried out by participation, discussion and application between resource persons and partners. Meanwhile, mentoring is done by participation and intensive discussion so that the artisan can fully comprehend the knowledge from PKM Team. The results from implementing mentoring and training method show that the artisans can develop the design of their rattan products and complete them in prototype form. Abstract:
A preliminary study conducted on twenty-four rattan workers at the Trangsan Rattan Industry Center showed various types of occupational health and safety risks including respiratory disorder due to exposure of fine dust, hand tools usage , chemical hazards of using rattan coloring, and Muscoskeletal Disorders ( MSDS) due to improper working positions. This condition encourages research to improve safety behavior for workers by identifying factors related to unsafe behavior and implementing Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) for workers . The BBS approach was carried out with four stages, namely Define, Observe, Intervene, and Test (DOIT), while the level of worker behavior was calculated using the Safety Performance Index (SPI). There were ten unsafe actions that were targeted for intervention for hundreds of workers. Through an intervention program which was based on a motivational intervention approach, the value of SPI in the Trangsan Rattan Industry Center increased by 36.21%.

Abstract:
Actually, rattan handicraft home industry can play three roles in the same time, as a worker supplier, producer, and consumer. In this way, we can see the relation of working time allocation, income, and household spending pattern as a system (household economic decision). In doing its economic decision, a household always interacts with its environment. Any environmental changes outside the household, such as material costs, output price, business scale, and business pattern (business characteristic factor) will give direct or indirect influence. This writing is based on the result of a research done in Sei Sikambing rattan handicraft industrial village, Medan Petisah District, Medan. The population of the research was rattan craftsman household. The sample was taken from the population using simple random sampling technique that is 35 rattan home craftsmen. The primary and secondary data gathered were analyzed based on the econometric model with 2SLS method. The analysis is conducted by performing a simulation entails several scenario alternatives.Based on the analysis result, it is found that: (I) improving business scale to small industry and changing the business pattern to subcontract may rise income and outcome for consumption and investment, (2) if these changes are done along with any rise of material and rattan products price, the income and outcome for consumption and investment will be higher, and (3) those changes will give effects to the development of job opportunity in rattan industry, unless there are any changes on the business pattern.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand how the cross-cultural collaboration between developed market and emerging economies promotes an inclusive global value chain (GVC) through innovation and technology transfer. Drawing on global rattan industry, this paper identifies the three typologies and social mechanism of cross-cultural collaboration in GVC. Design/methodology/approach This study uses a qualitative method with a case study of rattan industry. The case study analysis covers the linkages between upstream industries in emerging economies and downstream industries in developed countries. Findings The result shows that innovation and technology transfer play an essential role in the cross-cultural collaboration through presenting the creative value-adding process beyond the simple trade of rattan. This study identifies the social mechanism of cross-cultural collaboration in three GVC typologies of rattan industry. Research limitations/implications The study was undertaken between 2015 and 2017. The observed value chain in rattan industry context demonstrates the selected business network from Indonesia to the European countries. Practical implications There were some activities that worked well for decades, such as creative innovation and technology transfer from multinational corporations to small businesses. The initiative to promote brand seemed to work less well for the local designers in developing countries from being part of the GVC. The creative innovation and technology transfer from multinational corporations to rattan farmers continued to struggle. Originality/value This study draws a distinction between the typologies of GVC, where cross-cultural collaboration has developed slowly and those where it comes about quickly. This extends the discussion about creative value between players in developed and developing countries, including the social mechanism of cross-cultural collaboration in GVC.

Abstract
Synthetic colorants (lacquer or nitro-based clear finishes, cellulose acetate butyrate - CAB, polyurethane, acid catalyst clear lacquers, polyester, waterbased colorants, etc) are commonly used to produce colors on various rattan products. Although water based colorants are claimed to be environmentally friendly, but many industry stakeholders still continue using other synthetic colorants due to cost consideration.
As an effect, environmental cost is inevitable. Prior experiment shows that natural colorant like sappanwood produce red color on rattan peel, though color adhesiveness is not stable. This re search maintains focus on sappanwood as natural red colorant, but type of rattan is shifted to rattan flat core, presumed to produce higher color adhesiveness and stability. Result of research is applied on home décor products, using small to medium home industry quantity to test the stability and uniformity of colors on one production batch. The results of this study show that the problems facedby rattan handicraft producers are: 1) a lack of availability of raw materials caused bylong shipping distances, such as from Sulawesi and Kalimantan to Cirebon; 2) a lackof capital that can be absorbed by small entrepreneurs to continue to be able to run thisrattan craft business because of the lack of attention given to small entrepreneurs fromboth the government of Cirebon and the World Bank. 3) the lack of human resourcemanagement for rattan handicraft producers due to the lack of interest from the youngergeneration and the lack of a training platform for the younger generation to continuethis rattan craft relay from time to time.

Abstract:
The straps of rattan bag handicraft products in Indonesia have different shapes and sizes. This can be observed from the straps of rattan shoulder bags designed to have a permanent size, leading to the lack of flexibility in increasing or decreasing the length of the bag to fit the height of the users. Therefore, this study aimed to design a standard ergonomic strap length for rattan shoulder bags in order to ensure compatibility with small, medium, and large-sized users in Indonesia. The process was conducted through the retrieval of anthropometric data for women between the ages of 17 and 45 years for calculations. The results showed that 60 cm was the appropriate length for small-sized users, 85 cm for medium, and 100 cm for large. The implication of the results was to provide support for the production of different strap length designs based on the differences in the type of bag and body size. Moreover, the results contributed to the rattan handicraft industry by providing recommendation on the standard strap lengths for shoulder bags to be produced.

Abstract:
Many studies show that industrial clusters have been successfully promoting the progress of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, many governments around the world, including Indonesia, enthusiastically perform comparative studies of cluster policy. Thus, it is important to understand the characteristics of the business of small and medium industries as input in formulating the policy of industrial clusters. Research objectives are focused on the early stages of analysis as to whether the cluster of wood and rattan furniture industry which has existed long enough in Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia, has formed a pattern of awareness among employers in considering the benefits proportionally between cooperation and competition. In various scientific literature reviews, this issue was named by the term coopetition. Thus, the benefits of this research are useful in formulating policy toward strengthening the industrial cluster furniture and rattan towards a more integrative of industrial clusters, and supporting industries involve complex, well integrated backward (backward linkage) and integrated into the front (forward linkage). In the end, it is expected that increasingly mature industrial clusters of wooden furniture and rattan will be transformed into a form of industrial agglomeration and positively impact on strengthening the competitiveness of the furniture industry widely influential in regional and national economy. The test results show that nearly all of the dimensions of a differentiator (discriminant factor) are significant by influence on differentiating into three patterns of interaction between companies in the cluster of wooden furniture and rattan, while there is only one dimension that is not significant, i.e., the horizontal dimension of cooperation. These results indicate that the industrial cluster of wooden furniture and rattan in Jepara have long formed, where the cycles and patterns of cooperation are factors that could indicate variations in differences concerning perceptions of entrepreneurs in the wood and rattan furniture cluster. Results of the analysis with the approach of the discriminant also show the forming awareness of employers about balancing the important role of competition. It is, as well as cooperation in the industrial cluster wood and rattan furniture from Jepara being already cycle of clusters, characterized by maturity. The cooperation is characterized by bilateral, multilateral, and vertical indicating that the cluster is ready to metamorphose into a form more complicated than an agglomeration. This condition needs to be examined further to see the impact of the maturity cycle of an industrial cluster and more complex patterns of cooperation towards the formation prerequisite agglomeration, and its impact on industrial performance and competitiveness clusters in the aggregate, as well as the economic development of the region

Abstract:
Good profit planning will affect the success of the business in achieving optimal profit. The calculation of future profits is very useful for preparing the profit planning process. In general, almost all management decisions will have more impact on activities or attitudes in the future than on past activities or attitudes. Thus management decision making is a continuous process. This continuous process makes management must be able to anticipate upcoming events and plan what must be done, including planning company profits. Profit Volume Cost Analysis (cost-volume-profit analiysis) is often called a break event point analysis because of the significance of the break event point in this analysis, in the profit volume cost analysis, volume refers to all activity cost triggers, such as sales units are assumed to collaborate with changes in income, costs and profits. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded as follows; The amount of break even points for living room chair products in Hidayah Sidorejo's rattan industry is 4 units, meaning that the company will be in a position where the profit is equal to 0. The amount of contribution margin for living room chair products in Hidayah Sidorejo's rattan industry is Rp. . 2,879,000 The operating profit target is assumed if Hidayah's rattan industry is targeting a profit of Rp. 10,000,000, then the number of units that must be sold is 7 units of living room chairs. The results of the cost volume profit analysis in the decision making for advertising spending show that Hidayah's rattan industry decides to advertise in the newspaper with an advertising cost of Rp. 1000,000, then this will increase the contribution margin by Rp. 2,879,000 and operating profit increased to Rp. 1,879,000 even though the cost continued to increase to Rp. 11,000,000 The results of the cost volume profit analysis in decision making to reduce the selling price from Rp. 6000,000 / chair set becomes Rp. 5,000,000 / set of chairs will reduce the contribution margin by Rp. 10,000,000, although if you lower the selling price the sales will increase to 10 units.

Abstract:
Rattan Calamus spp. is a high commercial value palm from the subfamily Calamoideae the primary source for cane in the well-developed rattan industry. Most studies on rattan have focused on its biodiversity, distribution, quality, strength, physical, mechanical, and morphological properties and genetics. Still, only a few have investigated the association of rattan with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. These mycorrhizal fungi are well known to play essential functions as promoting plant growth, maintaining plant community biodiversity and nutrient cycles in soil. This study aims to identify the established AM fungi community and their ecological interactions with Calamus spp. in the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex, Perak, Malaysia. Calamus spp. roots and their rhizospheric soil samples were collected from six sampling sites in the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex, one of the oldest rainforests in the world. The degree of mycorrhizal colonisation in Calamus spp. was evaluated using the grid lines method. At the same time, the AM fungi spore diversity in the rhizospheric soils were isolated using the wet sieving method and identified taxonomically analysed into different genera. Calamus insignis showed the highest degree of mycorrhizal colonisation amongst all the Calamus spp. present on the sampling sites. The AM fungi spores isolated from the rhizospheric soil from Belum-Temengor Forest Complex belonged to the genera Acaulospora, Entrophospora, Gigaspora, Glomus, and Scutellospora. Glomus was the most frequently found genus in all the sampling sites. This study is the first record of the AM fungal diversity found in the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex.

Production planning is an activity to obtain products in accordance with the needs of two parties, namely companies and consumers. Production planning is important in the industry in order to achieve optimal profits. In the rattan handicraft business, furniture faces problems in production planning. The production process is carried out based on the availability of raw materials and the estimated average demand, but it is often difficult to determine the optimal amount and time of production. This results in a shortage or excess of stock which has an impact on profits. By using a linear program, this study aims to determine the optimal results in production planning in the rattan and furniture handicraft business using the simplex method so that optimal profits are obtained. The results showed that the number of products produced was optimal so that the profit obtained was 8.49%.
