Abstract:
The textbook describes complex natural, geological, geographical, hydrogeological and lithological studies based on modern geological and ecological theories and forming the basis of environmental science. The theoretical views on the ecology of the geological environment are expanded. The tasks of ecological geology and geography, as well as ecological hydrogeology and ecological lithology are substantiated. Attention is paid to the history of geoecological research in the development of new territories. The influence of the tectonic formation of geological structures on the ecological situation of the Earth's lithosphere is studied. The ecological zoning of the lithosphere and hydrosphere is given. The ecological characteristics of sedimentary deposits, which are associated with minerals of important industrial and environmental importance, are given. The ecological properties of various types of mineral raw materials for their application in industry are considered. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. It is intended for bachelors studying the discipline "Ecological Geology" and Earth sciences, and will also be of interest to environmental specialists in the design and operation of industrial facilities, structures and deposits of natural raw materials.

Hughes, Jim. Exposures and image quality. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/med/9780198813170.003.0004.

Full text
Abstract:
In C-arm systems, the X-ray beam output is determined by both the signal returned from the automatic exposure device (AED) in the receptor and the exposure table set up for the exam type. The settings for the exposure (as well as aspects of the image receptor and display) will affect the qualities or resolutions of the resulting image. This chapter covers the factors and qualities of images produced by an X-ray C-arm system, and the effect that varying exposure factors has on the resulting image quality and resolutions. This includes spatial, temporal, and contrast resolutions, as well as the effects of under- and overexposure, and distortion or artefacts on the produced images.

Hugh, Beale, Bridge Michael, Gullifer Louise, and Lomnicka Eva. Part I Introduction, 3 Financial Collateral. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/law/9780198795568.003.0003.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter discusses the significance of distinguishing between the various types of property over which security may be taken, or which may be the subject matter of a retention of title or other quasi-security device, since the same general principles will be applicable whatever the nature of the property. There are also differences between the various kinds of property, which will mean that the way the law applies in practice will differ. Thus, a charge over either ‘inventory’ such as stock in trade or raw materials will in practice usually have to be a floating charge rather than a fixed one; the chapter shows how it is very difficult to take and maintain a fixed charge over book debts or other receivables.

Harney, Jacob P., Kathryn Gudsnuk, Ami Patel, Anantha R. Vellipuram, Sathyajit Bandaru, and David Butler. Endocrine and Reproductive Effects of Ketogenic Diets. Edited by Detlev Boison. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/med/9780190497996.003.0025.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter reviews endocrine, behavioral, and reproductive outcomes of the ketogenic diet (KD) in rodent mouse and rat models. KD treatment can result in conditions seen in metabolic syndrome, including dyslipidemia and inflammation. Females raised on low protein KDs will experience delayed puberty onset. Results presented suggest an increase in ketones and a decrease in spatial memory as percent protein drops. Postpubertal female pups fed KD experienced similar cognitive decline to KD-fed dams, despite consuming only normal rodent chow since weaning. This finding is consistent with the development of anatomical differences in the brains of pups from KD-fed versus rodent chow–fed controls. A thorough evaluation of the effects of different lipid and protein profiles (amount and type) will be necessary if KDs are going to be safe and effective long-term therapies for both sexes and in neurological disorders besides pediatric intractable epilepsy.

Abstract:
Tests used in a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation produce a myriad of scores, which can be confusing for the clinician and easily misinterpreted, even by experienced examiners. Standardized scores, raw scores, percentile ranks, age and grade equivalents, and other score types are explained and contrasted. Recommended scores are described so that the clinician will know what to look for and how to evaluate a report. In addition to test scores, verbal range descriptors such as “below average” or “superior” convey student performance in an accessible and user-friendly manner. Qualitative information can enrich the understanding of the student’s performance and provide crucial information for intervention planning.

Abstract:
This chapter identifies on three different types of problems: research problems, personnel problems and unexpected problems. The first two are the daily stuff of leadership and management, and are discussed in the res of this book; it is the third category that can present ethical challenges. Some of the most difficult issues that the manager has to deal with concern people who, in one way or another, have personal (as opposed to personel) problems that affect their work. These need to be dealt with firmly but fairly. The general principles of problem resolution and dealing with people are discussed and some examples are worked through. Most of these problems will, at some point, lead to a difficult interview, and techniques for handling this are also discussed.
