Abstract:

Background: Indonesia has a very high diversity of flora and fauna, including various marine biota. The diversity of marine biota varies greatly and can represent all phyla in the Pacific region of Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the environmental factors, the value of diversity and the density of gastropods in the coastal waters of Tihunitu. Methods: This study was conducted on July 19, 2018. The type of research used is a descriptive type of research to see the value of diversity and density. Results: The measurement of environmental factors shows that the temperature values on transect I range from 26.5-28, ° C. The second transect ranged from 27.1-29.7, ° C. The transect III ranges from 28.0-29.8, ° C. The PH value on transect I ranges from 7.4-74. The transect II ranges from 7.2-7.4. The transect III ranges from 7-7.3. The salinity value on transect I ranged from 24-34 (‰). The transect II ranges from 26-39 (‰). The transect III ranges from 25-29 (‰). The value of dissolved oxygen on transect I ranged from 7.3 to 8.3 mg / 1. On transect II ranged from 6.9-723 mg / 1. The transect III ranges from 7.1-7.2 mg / 1. While the results of determining the type of substrate visually descriptive showed that Tihun Beach has 2 types of substrate types, namely sandy and rocky. Conclusion: Gastropods found in Tihun coastal waters are 37 species representing 14 families in the phylum of molluscs. With the average value of diversity in the research station is classified as moderate, namely 3,448.6. The highest density value is 0.108 and the lowest density value is 0.01

Abstract:

Home ranges of feral goats studied by radio-telemetry in a pastoral area in Western Australia were much larger than those found in most other studies. Home ranges of males were larger (ranging from 139.2 to 587.7km*2) than those of females, which ranged from 15.0 to 190.2km*2. Excursions outside the normal (90 percentile) home ranges were common. The home ranges of females were smaller during summer than during winter. Male home ranges were of similar size in both seasons. Group structure and composition was highly variable. Implications of goat movements on management and control programmes are discussed.

Abstract:

Plankton is organism that susceptible to environmental changes that used as indicator of environmental pollution by saprobic index because plankton has important role in affecting the water primary productivity. The research about plankton saprobic in Benoa Harbour is never done before. The aim of this research is to explain the structure of community and the level of plankton saprobic at Benoa Harbour. This research using random sampling method for determine the station. The result explained that there was 17 species of plankton in the waters of Benoa Harbor from two classes such as Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae on phytoplankton and from five classes such as Magnoliopsida, Malacostraca, Maxillopoda, Globothalamea and Hexanauplia on zooplankton. The total abundance of plankton ranges from 1.117.172 Individual / Liter- 1.626.163 Individual / Liter. The zooplankton diversity index in the waters of Benoa Harbor ranges from 1.06 to 1.58 and phytoplankton ranges from 1.02 to 155. This indicates that the value of diversity in all observation stations is categorized into low biodiversity. Zooplankton evenness index value in the waters of Benoa Harbor ranged from 0.73-0.88 and phytoplankton ranged from 0.71-0.96. This indicates that the index of evenness is relatively high. The dominant value of zooplankton in the waters of Benoa Harbor ranges from 0.24-0.43 and phytoplankton ranged from 0.22-0.41. This indicates that the dominance is relatively low. Saprobik Index (SI) value ranges from 1.0-1.6 and Tropic Saprobic Index (TSI) ranges from 1.76-1.96. This indicates that the waters of Benoa Harbour is categorized mild contaminated conditions until not contaminated.

Abstract:

We investigate an implementation of the multi-level or ℓ-level k-range data structure. The ℓ-level k-range is compared to naive and R*tree search over N randomly generated k-dimensional points. Results indicate that multi-level k-ranges are not competitive due to their (previously unreported) complexity. We show that storage is S(N,k,ℓ) = O(N1+2(k-1)/ℓ) and S(N,k) = Θ(N1+2(k-1)/ log 2N). Our results also indicate that the ℓ-level k-range requires Q(N,k,ℓ) = O((2ℓ)k( log N + A)) time for range search, for A = number of points reported in range.

Abstract:

Baobab (Adansonia digitata) is a deciduous tree with many useful plants. The objective of this work was to determine the effect of processing methods on proximate, mineral composition, phytochemical and anti-nutrient of control, boiled, roasted and fermented samples of baobab seeds. The result showed that the protein content of the seeds of different process ranged from (32.87%) roasted to (32.13%) control sample. The fat content ranges from (30.97%) roasted to (29.77%) boiled seeds. The ash content ranges from (0.60%) boiled to (0.57%) fermented. The moisture content ranges from (9.03%) boiled to (8.53%) control sample. The carbohydrate content ranges from (29.93%) boiled to (26.73%) roasted seeds respectively. While the mineral composition of the seeds measure in (mg/100g) ranges from: Ca (188.33) fermented to (173.33) boiled, Fe ranges from (12.87) fermented to (11.73) boiled, Na ranges from (446.67) fermented to (416.67) boiled, Mg ranges from (55.00) fermented to (46.67) boiled, K ranges from (43.33) fermented to (33.33) boiled, Cu ranges from (0.83) fermented to (0.60) boiled seeds respectively. While the phytochemicals and antinutrient factors of the seeds measured in (mg/100g) ranges from: Alkaloids ranges from (30.00) control sample to (20.00) fermented, Flavonoids ranges from (61.67) fermented to (48.33) boiled, Steroids ranges from (20.00) fermented to (15.00) control sample, Tannins ranges from (140.00) roasted to (128.33) boiled , Saponins ranges from (45.00) control sample to (33.33) fermented, Protease Inhibitors ranges from (0.83) control sample to (0.40) fermented seeds respectively. The baobab seeds are a very proteinous with high mineral composition. Therefore, these seeds can be useful in the preparation of diets for people with low-level of mineral elements and also as dietary supplement in weaning food to improve quality of diets of infants and children.

Abstract:

Ugba was produced by fermenting African oil bean seed samples for different periods of time. The Proximate and Mineral composition of fermented and unfermented African oil bean seed ‘ugba’ was investigated and the results showed that the Moisture content ranged from 49.32±0.08% to 51.32±0.06%, the crude Fat content ranges from 17.80±0.08% to 19.36±0.12%, the Protein content ranges from 15.46±0.05 % to 17.36±0.07 %, the Ash content ranges from 1.94±0.03% to 2.64±0.00%, the crude Fibre content ranges from 2.63±0.09 % to 3.22±0.06% and the Carbohydrate content ranges from 6.33±0.01 % to 12.15±0.07 %. The results from the mineral composition showed Ca from 86.35±0.09 mg/100g to 92.11±0.09 mg/100g, Mg from 186.14±0.17 mg/100g to 235.14±0.08 mg/100g, P from 102.48±0.02 mg/100g to 117.23±0.06 mg/100g and Fe from 11.46±0.11mg/100g to 12.50±0.05mg/100g. The results showed that the minerals and some of the proximate compositions increased as fermentation time increased, therefore giving an indication that fermentation improves the nutrient composition of Ugba.

Abstract:

I analyzed 364 spring and 239 fall migrations by 194 white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) from 1975 to 1993 in northeastern Minnesota to determine the proximate cause of arrivals on and departures from winter ranges. The first autumn temperatures below −7 °C initiated fall migrations for 14% (95% confidence interval (CI) = 0 – 30) of female deer prior to snowfall in three autumns, but only 2% remained on winter ranges. During 14 autumns, the first temperatures below −7 °C coincidental with snowfalls elicited migration in 45% (95% CI = 34 – 57) of females, and 91% remained on winter ranges. Arrival dates failed to correlate with independent variables of temperature and snow depth, precluding predictive modeling of arrival on winter ranges. During 13 years, a mean of 80% of females permanently arrived on winter ranges by 31 December. Mean departure dates from winter ranges varied annually (19 March – 4 May) and between winter ranges (14 days) and according to snow depth (15-cm differences). Only 15 – 41% of deer departed when snow depths were >30 cm but 80% had done so by the time of 10-cm depths. Mean weekly snow depths in March (18 – 85 cm) and mean temperature in April (0.3 – 8.1 °C) explained most of the variation in mean departure dates from two winter ranges (Ely, R2 = 0.87, P < 0.0005, n = 19 springs; Isabella, R2 = 0.85, P = 0.0001, n = 12 springs). Mean differences between observed mean departure dates and mean departure dates predicted from equations ranged from 3 days (predictions within the study area) to 8 days (predictions for winter ranges 100 – 440 km distant).

Abstract:

AbstractThe coast of Aragua is a home of bottlenose dolphins (BND), Atlantic spotted dolphins (ASD) and fishermen (FIS) from four towns. A photo-identification study was carried out on BND to estimate their home ranges. From 2004 to 2008, 100 field surveys were carried out along 30 km of coastline (92.12 km2). In each sighting of BND, information regarding date, time, latitude/longitude and photographs were registered (ASD and FIS were registered without photography). The data were analysed using a Geographic Information System to estimate Minimum Convex Polygon (MCP) and Fixed Kernel (FK) at 95%. The home ranges of BND were estimated for seven individuals. This included three females (29–31 sightings) with estimated areas ranging from 33.90–39.90 km2 with MCP (36.79–43.31% of the study area) and from 80.47–101.31 km2 with FK (109.97–104.26%). For the remaining four dolphins (14–20 sightings) the estimated areas ranged from 9.67–22.34 km2 (MCP), the predominant depth of these home ranges varied from 51–100 m (χ2 = 24.5, df = 2, P = 4.785 × 10−6). For the pods of ASD the estimated area ranged 75.23 km2 with MCP (81.66%) and 119.86 km2 with FK (130.11%) with predominant depths of 101–200 m (χ2 = 24.5, df = 2, P = 4.785 × 10−6). The area used by FIS ranged 93.27 km2 by MCP and 228.49 km2 by FK. Finally, the overlap area of BND, ASD and FIS ranged 24.75 km2 (26.86%). We point out this locality presents important oceanographic and ecological aspects which deserve to be the subject of application of management plans for the conservation of its habitat and species.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to measure the physical properties (Temperature, TDS, Turbidity), chemistry (pH, DO, BOD, Phosphate, Nitrate) and biology (Fecal coliform) of groundwater water quality in the Teuku Umar University environment. This research was carried out for 4 months, i.e. water sampling was carried out in August, physical, chemical and biological properties were measured in September to October and data analysis was carried out in November. Sampling at 11 stations. The results of temperature measurements are 26-290C, with an average value of 27.50; TDS between 122 - 410 mg / l with an average of 234.5 mg / l; turbidity ranged from 3.89-85.55 NTU, with an average value of 17.3 NTU; Water pH ranged from 6.65 to 6.7.65, with an average value of 7.1; DO ranges between 1.2 - 2.5 mg / l average value of 1.5 mg / l; BOD5 ranges from 0.7-2.71 mg / l, with an average of 1.7 mg / l; Phosphate ranges from 0.19 - 2.08 mg / l with an average value of 1.1 mg / l; Nitrates range from 0.2 - 0.6 mg / l with an average value of 0.5 mg / l; Fecal coliform ranges from 0 - 90 ml / 100 ml with an average value of 24 mg / l.

Abstract:

This research was conducted in the village of Sambungo, Silaut District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province in August 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure of the macrozoobenthos community which includes: type, density, diversity, uniformity, dominance and distribution patterns. Sampling was done randomly at 3 stations, each station consists of 3 transects and each transect consists of 3 plots, namely in the upper middle and lower in the intertidal zone. The results of the study found 5 classes of macrozoobenthos with 9 species. The abundance values obtained ranged from 3.33 - 5.11 ind/m2. The diversity index value ranges from 1.18-1.54 which is classified as moderate, while the dominance index value ranges from 0.39-0.52, namely there was no species that dominate, the uniformity index value ranges from 0.03-0.06 which is not balanced and the value of the distribution pattern ranges from 2.81 to 3.76 with the pattern of distribution in groups

Abstract:

In present study, we present data on tree diversity, stand structures and community composition in six sites of tropical forest in Rajaji tiger reserve, Northern India. The enumeration of 72 plots results a total of 19,050 individuals, 47 species, 42 genera, 25 families in which Holoptelia integrifolea, Dalbergia sissoo, Shorea robusta, Cassia fistula and Trewia nudiflora were the species which showed higher importance value index (IVI) in the study area. The stand density of the six sites ranges from 149.99 - 397.91 hac-1 where as the total basal area of trees ranges from 3.612 - 46.813 m2/hac-1. The Shannon diversity index ranged from 1.35 to 2.51, Simpson index ranged from 0.097 - 0.446, Margalef index ranged 2.584 - 4.9, The Evenness index ranged from 0.551 - 0.852 in the study area. Further the studied area has showed ample evidences from indices in supporting the higher floristic diversity and stand structure after providing the present area as a status of tiger reserve.

Abstract:

In the 1970s, mean lichen biomass ranged by the earmark districts (comprising of 2-9 adjacent herding associations) between 54 kg and 380 kg DM per ha correlating negatively with animal density per lichen ranges (range 1.5 - 14.3 ind. per km2). Biomasses were far below economic carrying capacity of lichen ranges (900 kg DM per ha). The condition of lichen ranges was poorest in the southern half of the area where alternative food to reindeer lichens (Deschampsia flexuosa, arboreal lichens and supplementary feeding) was available. In 1980-86, recruitment (calves per 100 females) was 33% higher than in the 1970's, on an average (65 vs. 49), despite a 90% increase in animal numbers between 1970 and 1986; recruitment has not been dependent on the condition of lichen ranges. The increase in production has been some higher than expected on the basis of animal numbers. The reasons for the increasing trends in animal numbers, recruitment and production remains some unclear, but they may include favorable winter conditions, supplementary feeding, medical treatment against parasites and proper harvesting policy.

Abstract:

Aspects of the home range and space-use patterns of the common wallaroo or euro (Macropus robustus erubescens) were studied over a three year period in arid New South Wales. Thirty-five adults (19 males and 16 females) were captured and fitted with radio-transmitters and their movements followed. The home ranges of the majority of animals were significantly different from that of a bivariate normal distribution, indicating a heterogeneity of space use. Home ranges were small and essentially stable over time. There were significant differences between the sexes in all parameters of home range measured due to differences in ecological and social requirements. Males had significantly larger weekly home ranges in winter than females (77.2 +/- 47.5 ha and 30.5 +/- 16.5 ha, respectively) but in summer home ranges were similar (30.2 +/- 20.4 ha and 27.6 +/- 15.0 ha). On a yearly basis males ranged over an area approximately three times the size of that used by females. Yearly home-range size in males was positively correlated with body size when conditions were poor.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND AIM Adhesive capsulitis characterizes progressive increasing pain followed by progressive decreasing ranges of motion at shoulder joint. The objective was to find out the comparison between the effects of Thera-band, co-contraction and isometric exercises in chronic frozen shoulder patients in improving pain, range of motion and function. METHODOLOGY Randomized clinical trial conducted at DHQ Hospital, Sheikhupura. 36 patients with age ranged 30-70 years, diagnosed with chronic idiopathic frozen shoulder with limited shoulder ranges were randomly allocated to three groups, Group A,B,C performed Thera-band, co-contraction and isometric exercises respectively. Assessment was done at baseline and after 6-week post-treatment at Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Goniometry for all ranges and Shoulder Pain and Disability Index. SPSS version 25 was used to analyze the results. RESULTS One-way ANOVA with multiple comparisons showed that at 6th week, pain was decreased in Group B and C as compared to Group A (p <0.05), however, there was no significant difference between Group B and C. Group A was significantly better in improving ranges as compared to group B and C. CONCLUSION The study concluded that co-contraction and isometric exercises were more effective in reducing pain while the Thera-band exercises showed a significant improvement in ranges. Abstract:

Civil engineering structures are designed from the knowledge of soil properties at the given site. This research work is for the Investigation of index and engineering properties of Areka town subgrade soils. To investigate these ten test pits were selected by dividing the total area of the town in to ten parts based on the expansion potential of the town and the current distribution of the gravel road according to the municipality of Areka town. The soil samples per pit up to 3m depth, were collected from open pits by direct manual excavation. During field testing, field density and natural moisture content tests were done.[15] The laboratory tests that were carried out includes natural moisture content, particle size distribution, specific gravity, Atterberg limits (LL and PL), compaction (OMC and MDD), CBR and CBR swelling potential tests were conducted. From the results that were obtained for grain size analysis, Atterberg limits and from soil classification systems (USCS and AASHTO). According to the results of this research, Natural Moisture content ranged between 8.0-12.0%, field dry density ranged between 1.66 – 1.87( g/cc) , gravel fraction between 9.18-16.19 %, sand fraction between 22.30-54.26 %, silt fraction between 15.82-47.69 %, Clay fraction between 9.0-35.5%, Specific Gravity ranges between 2.58-2.78, Plasticity Index between 8.21- 14.61%,, GI ranges from 4 to 11 and for the soil classification under A-4, A-6, A-7-5 and A-7-6 according to AASHTO M145 and inorganic silts of medium compressibility according to unified soil classification system and the OMC ranges from 10.14% to 21.37 %, MDD ranges from 1.77 g/cc to 1.98g/cc, CBR swell ranges from 1.42- 1.92% and CBR value ranges from 6.31-8.76 (%) as the test result indicate that CBR swelling potential values were below 2%, therefore they were good to use as a subgrade soil for pavement construction [6]. The CBR values for the soil samples were above 5% so they were good to use as a subgrade soil for pavement construction [11]. From all soil samples the subgrade strength class based on CBR value TP1, TP6, TP9, TP10 were S3; and the remaining were S4 [7].; thus, the subgrade soil has good bearing capacity for the pavement construction based on [4].

Measurements of wrist ranges of motion were made for 40 males and 83 females; only 1 subject worked in a factory. Age ranged from 16 to 88. Flexion was 57° for females and 56° for males; extension was 53° for females and 50° for males. Adduction was 24° for both females and males; abduction was 55° for females and 57° for males. Pronation was 139° for females and 130° for males; supination was 89° for females and 78° for males. Pronation increased significantly with age (r2 = 21%).

Abstract:

The present article is a review of our previously suggested concepts of “Distribution Dependent Correlations” (DDC), and “Intended Ranges”. DDC concern associations between relative amounts of positive scale variables, in unit systems where sum of the percentages is 100%. Such correlations arise mathematically on the condition that the variables in question have particular (“intended”) ranges. For example, with three variables, two of which (A, B) having very low variability relative to a third one (C), we should expect a positive association between percent A and percent B, the slope being estimated by the B/A ratio. In addition, we should anticipate a negative relationship between %C and %A (%B). On the other hand, if A and B have high numbers and variability relative to C, then %A should relate inversely to %B. Furthermore, alterations in the ranges may have appreciable effects to change the associations. We present examples from physiology, where ranges seem to give strong DDC (positive and negative). The examples relate to body fatty acids, and white blood cell counts. Possibly, Intended Ranges could represent a case of evolutionary selection, to ensure proper balance between particular metabolites.

This research was conducted to determine the physical and chemical condition and the variety of fishes which found in the Binuangeu, Banten Mangrove Ecosystem. This research method uses literature study. Physical and chemical conditions of the Binuangeun Mangrove Ecosystem, Banten have degrees of temperature ranging from 28.20 - 32.20; acidity range between 7.00 - 8.09; turbidity ranges from 22.50 - 76.00 NTU; water current ranged from 0.079 to 0.189; phosphate content ranges from 0.02 - 0.008; salinity ranges from 30-35 PSU; and dissolved oxygen content ranges from 5.67 - 8.70. The types of fish found in the Binuangeun Mangrove Ecosystem, Banten are 45 species from 22 Family. The most abundant and relatively high species of existence is the Gobiidae with 10 species. Abstract We evaluated a new portable instrument, the PPG StatPal II pH and Blood Gas Analysis System, designed for "point-of-care" measurements of blood gases and pH. Inaccuracy (% of target value) and imprecision (CV%) were assessed by blood tonometry and comparison with a Corning 178. Within-day results for PCO2 inaccuracy and imprecision ranged from 98.2% to 102.9% and 3.3% to 3.9%, respectively; for PO2, these were 95.5% to 102.3% and 2.3% to 3.0%, respectively. Between-day results for PCO2 inaccuracy and imprecision ranged from 99.2% to 99.3% and from 2.9% to 3.2%, respectively; for PO2, the ranges were 96.2% to 98.2% and 2.6% to 3.0%, respectively. Two PCO2 outliers (in 645 samples = 0.3%) were observed. In general, tonometry recovery, measurement stability, and pH bias results for the StatPal II and Corning 178 were comparable. We conclude that the StatPal II performs within acceptable ranges of inaccuracy and imprecision.

This research was to determine the physical and mechanical properties of particle board from acacia sawdust and sawn wood sawdust. The results of water content ranged from 6.85 to 9.22%, density ranged from 0.39 to 0.47 g / cm3, thickness development ranged from 2.21 to 7.04%, flexural strength (modulus of elasticity or MOE ) ranges between 1000.33 - 16127.48 kgf / cm² and the strength of the fracture (modulus of Rupture or MOR) ranges from 1.10 - 1.73 kgf / cm². MOE and MOR values and densities in treatment C that do not meet SNI 03-2105-2006 while in testing other treatments have meet SNI 03-2105-2006. The composition of raw materials has a very significant effect on the treatment of water content, density, thickness development and MOE. Physical and mechanical properties had no significant effect on the treatment of MOR values. The physical properties of particle board on average meet ISN 03-2105-2006. Abstract:

Bed Sediment samples were collected in the Dry Season from Orashi River at three sampling sites each located in Mmahu, Opuoma, Abacheke and Ogwu Aniocha communities. Physicochemical parameters, hydrocarbon and heavy metal (As, Cd, Fe and Pb) concentrations were determined with standard methods. Results showed that total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) ranged from 0.11 ±0.03 to 1.91 ±0.25 mg/kg while total hydrocarbon content (THC) and oil and grease had ranges of 0.28 ±0.06-2.98 ±0.19 and 0.69 ±0.09-3.60 ±0.57 mg/kg respectively. The sediment samples were classified as unpolluted in terms of TPH. Mean values for pH had a range of 4.33 ±0.22 - 6.60 ±0.52 while the texture of most samples was sandy. Mean organic carbon contents ranged from 0.58±0.07 to 3.15±0.66 % and mean total nitrogen and total phosphorus had ranges of 0.30±0.00 -2.77±0.46 and 17.34±1.65 - 29.48±1.63 mg/kg respectively. Mean Mg concentrations were significantly higher (P<0.05) than the concentrations of other exchangeable bases and mean As concentration had a range of 1.175±0.086-1.291±0.335 mg/kg. Mean Cd concentrations ranged from 0.948±0.072 to 3.120±0.131 mg/kg while mean Fe and Pb concentrations had ranges of 57.324±10.530-159.707±41.192 and 1.300±0.295-7.462±0.861 mg/kg respectively. As and Pb values were lower than the sediment quality guidelines (SQG) but Cd values were higher than the guidelines in all sites. Contamination factors (CFs) for As and Pb indicated low contamination while CFs for Cd indicated moderate to considerable contamination. Geo-accumulation index (Igeo) values for As and Pb at all sites and that of Cd at one site indicated unpolluted, Igeo values for Cd at all other sites ranged between 0.210 and 1.571 indicating unpolluted to moderately polluted status. Abstract:

This research is aimed at examining the strength properties of subsoil at Ede North, Southwestern Nigeria so as to determine its competence as foundation material. A total of 45 soil samples: 30 disturbed samples and 15 undisturbed samples were taken for different tests and analysis. These samples were subjected to laboratory tests of grain size analysis, atterberg limits for the disturbed samples while density, triaxial compression test, permeability, unconfined compression test and odometer consolidation test for the undisturbed samples. The liquid limit of the soil samples at Pit A, Pit B, Pit C, Pit D and Pit E range from 34.57% to 46.20%, 42.43%-48.02%, 40.20%-50.14%, 35.21%-46.04% and 43.04%-47.62% respectively. The plasticity indexes of the soil samples at all pit points range from 16.90%-22.70%. The specific gravity of the subsoil ranges from 2.55 to 2.65. This shows that these sampled soils are either sand or silty sand. The coarse contents of the sampled soil ranges from 33.7% to 61.2% while the fine contents ranges from 38.8% to 66.3%. Samples in pit A fall within the A-7-6 and A-6, samples in pit B and E falls within A-7-6, samples in pit C falls within A-7-6 and A-7-5 while most samples in pit D falls within A-7-6 and A-6. This implies that the soil samples are rated between fair to poor sub-grade materials. They general fall under clayey soils. The coefficient of permeability for the soils ranged from 6.45 × 10-8cm to 1.4 × 10-9cm which classified them as practically impermeable soils. Again, the values of the shear strength parameters are; the angle of internal friction ranged from 11.90 to 37.50, the cohesion ranges from 4.7 kPa to 84.9kPa.

Abstract Cyber Ranges represent complex, multi-component informatic systems, mainly used in the cyber security field. This domain is not the only operational scope of the Cyber Range concept. The applicability of this kind of system presents great benefits in domains like education, research, military etc. The entire scope of Cyber Range systems may be classified into three main categories: training and simulation, research and e-learning. The complexity of a Cyber Range system involves a time and financial consuming implementation. Depending on the area of operation, implementation may vary because each domain involves specific components. As a result, there must be steps prior to implementation in which the whole set of required pieces must be determined precisely. The existence of an implementation methodology may increase the performance and decrease the implementation costs - in the manner of time and financial resources. This paper aims to lay the foundations of a methodology for implementing cyber range systems in the main fields (training and simulation, research and e-learning). Starting from this methodology, detailed configuration and implementation procedures can be developed in each branch of each field.
