Abstract:
This article investigates the conception of and attitude towards the ‘beyond’ in the work of the twentieth-century poets Rainer Maria Rilke and James Merrill, arguing for striking similarities in this regard despite the two poets being of different generations, nationalities, and languages. While the influence of poets such as W. B. Yeats and W. H. Auden on Merrill has been thoroughly illustrated by others, this essay aims to illustrate the no less paramount but less often discussed influence of Rilke, especially in matters regarding the spiritual.

Abstract:
W pierwszej części artykułu opisuje problemy metodologiczne związane z badaniami frekwencji i kategorii wiekowych, a następnie wskazuje najważniejsze zależności między kategoriami wiekowymi a liczbą widzów kinowych. Abstract:
AbstractDeep Neural Networks (DNNs) are being deployed in a wide range of settings today, from safety-critical applications like autonomous driving to commercial applications involving image classifications. However, recent research has shown that DNNs can be brittle to even slight variations of the input data. Therefore, rigorous testing of DNNs has gained widespread attention. While DNN robustness under norm-bound perturbation got significant attention over the past few years, our knowledge is still limited when natural variants of the input images come. These natural variants, e.g., a rotated or a rainy version of the original input, are especially concerning as they can occur naturally in the field without any active adversary and may lead to undesirable consequences. Thus, it is important to identify the inputs whose small variations may lead to erroneous DNN behaviors. The very few studies that looked at DNN’s robustness under natural variants, however, focus on estimating the overall robustness of DNNs across all the test data rather than localizing such error-producing points. This work aims to bridge this gap.To this end, we study the local per-input robustness properties of the DNNs and leverage those properties to build a white-box (DeepRobust-W) and a black-box (DeepRobust-B) tool to automatically identify the non-robust points. Our evaluation of these methods on three DNN models spanning three widely used image classification datasets shows that they are effective in flagging points of poor robustness. In particular, DeepRobust-W and DeepRobust-B are able to achieve an F1 score of up to 91.4% and 99.1%, respectively. We further show that DeepRobust-W can be applied to a regression problem in a domain beyond image classification. Our evaluation on three self-driving car models demonstrates that DeepRobust-W is effective in identifying points of poor robustness with F1 score up to 78.9%.

Releasing declassified files, reports, denunciations and other Communist-era secret service documents in the former socialist countries raises great controversies and emotions. The so-called “teczki” become an element of political maneuvering and power games. Reports from the informants and collaborators are usually the object of consideration for historians and archivists alike. However, there are virtually no linguistic analyses that characterize them. The paper is an attempt to investigate the language of secret service employees from a comparative perspective based on two collections of notes from Poland and Bulgaria.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to present three currents of thinking about didactics: 1) as a science, 2) as art and 3) as an academic subject. The position of didactics as one of the basic subdisciplines of pedagogy in systematic science was presented. The question whether didactics be long to social sciences was raised. The need to rebuild and reconstruct didactics was emphasized, remembering about its permanent foun dations, complexity, and diversity. Directions of development and va rieties of didactics were recalled. Attention was paid to the problem of marginalizing general didactics as an academic subject in the curricula of pedagogical studies. The narrative was given a tripartite structure complemented with examples of didactic thinking and action, which is part of the systematics of problems proposed by Stanisław Palka.

The negative and positive aspects of the profession of Occupational Therapy are raised. On the whole Winnicott values this book and also values the already artistically inclined trainee for this area of help for those who are ill.

Abstract:
In this paper, Winnicott raises the issue of bisexuality in men and women and also of creativity in the male. He discusses a great deal of clinical material in which the female elements in a male patient predominate and are kept split off or dissociated from the rest of his personality. He ascribes ‘doing’ to the male and ‘being’ to the female and sees the female’s capacity to ‘be’ as providing the child’s dependence upon her and of ultimately giving him a sense of self or identity. He puts this succinctly as ‘after being—doing and being done to. But first “being” ’. He refers briefly to stealing as the male element in both boys and girls.

Abstract:
In this collection of points following the discussion of Congress papers by Winnicott and Greenacre on the parent-infant relationship, Winnicott states that he has learnt from the discussion, in particular from Greenacre’s discussion of aggression. He finds that there is a positive effect of understanding the whole infant-mother relationship as a real and rich experience. He refers to Balint on language, to the subject of predestination raised by Lagache, to Klein on envy, and to Martin James on the false self, quoting Hamlet’s line that Osric ‘did comply with his dug before he sucked it’. He argues finally that abnormalities in the mother-baby relationship can develop very early, noting that this demonstrates that the subject of infancy can be extremely fruitful for psychoanalytic discussion.

Abstract:
The location of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) beam in a tissue medium is an important parameter in assessment of the thermal field as it influences the temperature rise in the tissue. Our hypothesis is that the location of the beam can be affected by the power of the transducer. HIFU procedure with 30s of sonication time was performed at different powers of transducer (5 to 60 W) as well as different initial locations of beam in a tissue mimicking material. Eight thermocouples were embedded at 4 different layers in a phantom to measure the temperature rise during HIFU procedure. An inverse method based on experimental data and optimization algorithm was used to find the actual location of beam based on the experimental data. Our experimental data showed that for a higher power (60 W) as compared to a lower power (5 W), the focal distance that the actual position of beam moves away from its initial location increased with the raise in power. Thus, beam location can change at different powers of transducer. Using inverse method we showed that there is a direct linear correlation (R2 = 0.95) between the transducer power and the distance that beam moves away from its initial location. Therefore, it is of great clinical importance to study the effects of transducer power on the location of HIFU beam in an attempt to minimize the damage to healthy cells.

Abstract:
Gold nanorods can be tuned to a specific laser wavelength and serve as strong laser energy absorbers. Due to the powerful optical absorption, the laser energy is concentrated in an area congregating by nanorods, and then the energy absorbed can be transferred to the surrounding tumor tissue by heat conduction.1–4 Previous studies have shown a wide range of heating parameters with or without temperature measurements. Our previous experiment4 has demonstrated that using only 0.1 cc gold nanorod solution can lead to tumor temperature higher than 50°C when the laser irradiance is only 2 W/cm2. Based on the measured temperature elevation and heating duration, thermal damage to the tumor is highly likely. However, some researchers raised the question whether temperature sensors used in those experimental studies are truly reflecting the temperatures in the tumors. The objective of this study is to measure quantitatively tumor shrinkage after laser irradiation to evaluate efficacy of laser photothermal therapy.

Abstract:
The increased computational and storage demand has increased the heat dissipation of servers in data centers. The flow inside the data center is highly dynamic due to various parameters such as server workload, server fan speed, tile porosity, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) air flowrates, CRAC supply & return air temperatures and data center cold & hot aisle arrangements. Data center facility level transient CFD analysis was reported in recent literature which needs weeks to accomplish the computation. Hence, such facility level simulations are difficult to achieve with good accuracy. The main contributions of this paper are transient experiments, transient CFD model & transient effects on thermal and flow field due to variation in server load of server rack inside the raised floor plenum data center. In the current study we have developed a transient CFD model of three racks in a raised floor plenum data center room with cold and hot aisle containment based on experiments. The middle 42U (1U = 4.45 cm) rack houses four server simulators each having height of 10U. The flow tiles supply the cold air as inlet with average velocity of 1.53 m/s at 17°C. All the rack servers were modelled with 75% porosity and estimated thermal mass Each server simulator was assigned a total heat dissipation of 2500 W, with a total heat load of 10 kW per rack. The effect on rack inlet and outlet air temperatures were monitored by providing server heat loads as step & ramp inputs to the middle simulator rack. The results show that the rack level transient effects are significant and cannot be ignored.

Abstract:
The continued demand for high performance electronic products and the simultaneous trend of miniaturization has raised the dissipated power and power densities to new unprecedented levels in electronic systems. Thermal management is becoming increasingly critical to the electronics industry to satisfy the increasing market demand for faster, smaller, lighter and more cost effective products. Utilization of waste heat for the purpose of cooling chip is a promising area for enhancing the thermal management and net energy efficiency of the system. This paper focuses on the development of a tubular microgrooved evaporator and its performance characterization based on heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop measurements. Channel with aspect ratio of 3:1 (channel width – 100 μm, channel height – 300 μm) microgrooved structure was used in the evaporator. The system has been tested with R134a as refrigerant for refrigerant flow rate range of 0.005–0.02 kg/s and water flow rate range of 0.25–0.65 kg/s. Very promising results has been obtained in preliminary investigation. Heat transfer coefficient as high as 13,500 W/m2k has been obtained which is almost five times higher than comparative state of art technologies. The associated pressure drop is quite modest and much less than state of the art conventional evaporators.

Abstract:
Thermal conductivity is one of the basic thermal properties of soil. For a buried pipeline, the thermal conductivity of the surrounding soil is the most important factor determining the overall heat transfer from the pipeline, and plays an important role in assessing the safety and energy consumption of pipeline operation. For providing reliable basic data for the commissioning and the operation of a waxy crude oil pipeline stretching in southwest Sahara Desert, six phases of thermal conductivity testing were performed along the pipeline route, respectively in February, March, April, May, July and September, 2011. The pipeline is 462.5km long and 323.9mm outside diameter. The pipeline route crosses tropical desert and grassland. Test points are located at roughly equal spaces along the pipeline route, and additional test points are located in seasonal river beds and rugged terrains. The soil temperature and thermal conductivity were tested simultaneously at a depth of about130cm below soil surface, which is also near to the pipeline centerline. The test equipment used was a field thermal needle system FTN01 for thermal conductivity made in Holland. For a given location along the pipeline route, the soil thermal conductivities have different values in dry season and rainy season. The average soil thermal conductivities for the pipeline route between two stations ranges from 0.5 to 1.1W/(m·°C) in rainy season, and from 0.4 to 0.8 W/(m·°C) in dry season. The test results show that the change of soil moisture content has significant impact on soil thermal conductivity. Because other properties of the tested soil along the pipeline route such as soil mineral composition, particle size distribution and density have no significant change, these factors have little effect on soil thermal conductivity.
