Abstract:
As well as transforming the way terrestrial space was traversed, railways spearheaded texts that enabled passenger traversal of such spaces to be regulated and monitored. Among the most important of these texts was the railway ticket, which as a pre-electronic information storage device, was capable of encoding through semiotic inscription, details of a passenger’s spatial entitlements, both on and off a train. Yet curiously these facets of the ticket have not hitherto been the subjects of analysis. Through analysing the railway ticketing system of Australia’s Victorian Railways during the 1930s and 1940s and the manuals that regulated the choreography of ticket inspection and the associated performances of passengers, this article redresses this oversight. Using Foucaultian and semiotic concepts, it argues that the railways tickets of the past, like their contemporary counterparts, provide convenient and portable mechanisms for gate-keeping and calibrating mobile populations.

Abstract: The current railway or bus ticket booking system is human dependent and tedious with regards to the ticket booking process. The core objective of our project is to develop the web-application which will serve as a medium for students/employees/anyone to book the tickets to travel through trains or bus. The principle motive force of this web-application is to ease the process of ticket booking by avoiding the hectic and boisterous process to stand in a queue and book the ticket for the short distance for travelling in the trains. Several applications are available in the market which gives information about the travelling destinations and their fares. However, none of these applications incorporate the ticket booking process coordinated for both train and bus. Our application contrasts from such a lot of existing applications as it would book the ticket as well as save the ticket in the cloud database for both train and bus. This website is for railway and bus ticket booking and one can easily validate those booked tickets using mobile. Ticket can be bought with the help of smart phone, laptop using the web-application where your railway tickets can be carried in your phone. The ticketing information of the user is securely stored in the cloud database. Additionally, the ticket checker is given the checker application which is utilized for the approval of the ticket appeared by the user. This framework gives the ticket checker web-application to look for the user's ticket with the ticket number or other appropriate information in the cloud database for checking purposes. Consider that the user's display is being damaged and not able to show the ticket due to other reasons like battery failure we have another safeguard alternative to check the ticket by searching in the ticket database with the ticket number or user’s other relevant information for validation purpose. Abstract:
Jamming is one of the serious problem in Indonesia caused by the increase of vehicle. The government has made solution for this situation for example was public transportation. Train is one of the suitable public transportation because of the ticket price was cheap. Tawang Railway Stasion Semarang was the biggest railway station in Semarang. In the specific day such long holiday or celebrating day, many people have chosen train to bring them. This make a queuing situation on the counter of station. Queue theory models provide the random of arrival and service time. The Bayesian theory suits to handle the problem of queuing that has been working for several times. Based on the analysis of the queue models for customer service, self-print tickets, cancellation and ordering are (G/G/c):(GD/∞/∞) from the posterior distribution with combination from prior distribution and likelihood sample. The combination of prior distribution and likelihood sample used in this research is Poisson distribution for all ticket counter except the arrival for cancellation counter which Normal distribution. The likelihood sample used Poissonn distribution for all ticket counter, except for self-print tickets which Diskrit Uniform Distribution. Queue models can be used to count the size of the system performance. Based on the calculations and analysis, it can be concluded that the queueing system to the customer service, self-print tickets, cancellation and ordering have been good because its steady state and busy probability is higher than jobless probability. Abstract:
Rail operators in many countries discount group tickets to improve revenue by increasing price-driven demand. For individual passengers, dynamic pricing is beneficial for maximizing revenue based on the price discrimination principle. Usually, group fares are cheaper than individual fares. If too many group tickets are sold, there will not be enough tickets available to meet high-priced individual demand; by contrast, if not enough group tickets are sold and there is insufficient individual demand, the unsold seats will not have value once the train departs. Therefore, for railway operators, it is worth looking for a balance between group discounts and dynamic pricing to maximize benefits. Essentially, rail operators need to find the symmetry point of the expected revenue between accepting group bookings and reserving tickets for individuals when making decisions. In this study, we formulated a joint decision model of group ticket booking control and dynamic pricing and investigated the effect of the joint decision. The results of numerical experiments showed that incorporating group discounts into dynamic pricing can improve expected revenue when passenger demand is weak, and compared to setting fixed quantities for group tickets, dynamically controlling the limit of group bookings can effectively increase expected revenue. Further analysis of the impacts of time, number of tickets sold, and group demand was helpful to implement the proposed joint policy.

Abstract:
For railway transportation networks that serve traffic demands for many origin–destination pairs and consist of many railway lines that provide passengers with different choices, this paper proposes a mathematical programming model for optimizing the assignment of tickets among the sections of railway lines. The purpose of the model is to maximize the total passenger turnover or the total number of transported passengers within the capacity constraints of vehicles. A typical numerical example, solved using the linear interactive and general optimizer solver, has been designed to illustrate the proposed model. In addition, the ticket assignment schemes based on different goals are compared.

Abstract:
Purpose – India has a big pool of internet savvy population that is not only accessing the internet but also buying online. Online shopping could be defined as the concept of buying and selling of goods over the internet. From the perspective of the seller, it is the attempt on the seller's part to attract and persuade the prospect to conduct the purchase decision-making process, and ensure satisfaction and loyalty. From the perspective of the buyer, online purchase behavior is the degree to which consumers access, browse, shop and transact and repeat the behavior. With a revolution in the very basics of transaction from a physical store format to a non-store one, the retail industry has begun to understand the indispensability of the internet as a medium of transaction. However, the rate of diffusion and adoption of the new phenomenon among consumers is still relatively low. With the internet advancing new opportunities, it is important to understand the factors that could motivate Indian consumers to indulge in online buying. This paper is a theoretical attempt at conceptualizing “motivation” as a construct, in the context of online buying and testing it empirically. The objective of the study is to explore the critical motivational factors that influence the online buying decision of people, and to establish their causal impact, if any, through developing an integrated model. Design/methodology/approach – The study, descriptive, diagnostic, and causal in nature, has been conducted in the context of online buying of railway tickets in India. In the first phase, a pilot survey was conducted on a sample of 100 users of the online railway reservation. After having tested the survey instrument for validity and reliability, the second phase of the study was conducted on a sample of 327 users of online railway reservation facilities. A series of multiple regressions analyses was conducted to determine the causal impacts of critical motivational parameters on online reservation of railway ticket by users in the Indian context. The analysis of demographics based on gender and age groups were also made to capture the cross-comparisons of critical motivational attributes. Findings – The results were in expected direction and fulfilled the research aims of the current study. The factor analysis had grouped the items into nine constructs with 38 items. For analytical purposes, descriptive statistics were used through measures of central tendency and dispersion. The item total correlations to each construct were found significant. All the critical motivational constructs were found to have a significant impact on the intention of buyers of booking/purchasing railway tickets online in India. The analyses of demographics established that as far as gender is concerned, all the critical motivational attributes to online buying intention have no significant differences between men and women; however, for age groups it was observed that some of the attributes were found significant and others were not. Originality/value – Through identifying and empirically establishing critical motivational parameters in online reservation of railway tickets in Indian context across demographics, this study helps to understand what consumers expect from the online reservation facilities from the railways for their convenience and satisfaction. By examining the various dimensions explored and established in this study, the concerned authority can develop a better understanding of consumer needs and expectations. Academicians and researchers can use this study for assessing consumer motivation towards online reservation of railway tickets in Indian context, and identifying such attributes that would lead to favourable motivational disposition towards online reservation of railway tickets. The policy decision makers of railway authority may also use the findings of this study as a resource, while constructing, managing, and evaluating their marketing strategies in the Indian context.

Abstract:
Although nowadays many railway tickets are bought online, still many are bought through rail appointed travel agents and ticket offices at stations. There are several works on microscopic and accelerated-time simulations, some of them related to the topic of this paper, treating passengers movements in railway stations (both of general purpose and also with a focus on specific topics like evacuation, stations design, ticketing, etc.). We focus on a very specific topic: modelling queuing at ticket offices at a main Spanish station where “AVE” (“High-Speed”), “Larga Distancia” (“Long-Distance”), “Media Distancia” (“Middle-Distance”), and “Cercanías” (“Suburban Services”) dedicated windows exist. The existence of “Last Minute” desks is also considered. The goal is to provide the user with a tool that allows to choose the best option for windows distribution along time, after different microscopic simulations based on given data and windows possible distribution are performed (as done in a previous work of one of the authors for airport terminals check-in counters). Special attention is paid to “Last Minute” windows and shared windows (for example simultaneously selling tickets for “Larga Distancia” and “Media Distancia”). Input is given by arrival curves or can be generated by the package. The output is the detailed situation of any window at any moment and the evolution of queues by train or window type. There are different further possible extensions of this work. The implementation has been developed in a computer algebra system in order to minimize the development time.

Abstract:
“The reservation system of the Indian Railways is an enormous database system dealing with about millions of passengers everyday. Many of these passengers travel with a reservation however a lot more travel with unreserved tickets. In this measureless system, it is an extraordinary task to competently handle this data, which is the basic demand of the management. The problems with the existing scenario are Corruption, User Authentication Security Issues, Over population, Inefficient Railway Management. This paper presents an approach to tackle these problems in a much efficient manner. In case of Indian Railways, detailed passenger data is handled for reservations and in order to provide fast and efficient services, the data has to be processed and verified at a fast pace. For the Indian railways, enhancing the existent system with ADHAAR Card Identification will reduce manual intervention to a great extent. Also the verification of the passengers would be comprehensive and safe. The ADHAAR Card Based railway System will handle the passenger data more effectively and easily”.

Abstract:
In recent ten years, the rapid development of China high-speed railway is called "China miracle", and it not only provides great convenience for people's daily life trip, but also greatly promotes the economic development. However, the annual spring transportation in the special period is still a great challenge to high-speed railway transportation, and this paper analyzes the high-speed railway ticket for spring transportation from the perspective of microeconomics, and then thinks for the solution. This paper specifically analyzes the problem that demand exceeds supply for high-speed railway ticket by using the theories of the demand elasticity of supply and demand and the influence of price on supply and demand, monopoly markets. In addition, opportunity cost, incomplete information and other economic principles are used to think about the theoretical reasons for the difficulty of buying tickets during the spring transportation. I have given my understanding for the two problems owned by China spring transportation, and the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. For example, speed up the development of substitutes and carry out the mechanism of price fluctuation; In the ticket refunding mechanism, this paper boldly conceives the method to relieve the pressure through a reasonable and scientific ticket refunding mechanism. Finally, this paper starts from the source and find the key point to solve the problem of spring transportation in China by breaking the urban-rural dual structure.Hereafter the final conclusion was drawn: Although there are some problems to cope with the spring transport for the current China high-speed railway, it is believed that in the near future, the difficulty of buying a ticket in spring transportation will no longer hinder the homecoming of wanderers.

Abstract:
COVID-19 has swept the world for more than one year. Public transport, especially railway passenger transport for long distance and extensive areas, is the most potential risk source of the pandemic. In railway passenger transport, real-name train ticket check can effectively track the propagation path of the pandemic, which is of most significance for spread prevention of COVID-19. In this study, the evaluation index system of real-name check of ticket in trains was first established, in which 22 indexes in 4 levels were included, and their weights were determined by the Method of Kantiray Weighting. Furthermore, a comprehensive evaluation model of real-name system check was proposed, in which normalized work of different indexes was done, and key factors affecting the evaluation were founded. Finally, typical data of 8 trains check were collected, and from the evaluation analysis, we can find out that most factors affecting results of real-name ticket check are attendant management, train organization level, train service, and real-name ticket check proportion, based on which corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are given oriented to short-, medium-, and long-distance trains, respectively, all of which can reduce the risk of pandemic propagation in railway system.

Abstract:
Passenger demand plays an important role in railway operation and organization, and this paper aims to estimate passenger time-varying demand by simulating the ticket-booking process for High Speed Rail (HSR) system. The ticket-booking process of each OD pair can be partition into discrete booking phases by the times when the tickets of any itinerary had sold out. The ticket booking volume of each itinerary is reversely assigned to its corresponding expected departure intervals to obtain the time-varying demand in each booking phase using the rooftop model, and the total time-varying demand are estimated by summing the time-varying demand distributions in all booking phases. Only with the data about the itinerary flow, the precedence relationship is introduced to constrain the ticket sold-out order of all itineraries for each OD pair. Based on the precedence relationships of itineraries, two typical situations are proposed, in which the Single Booking Phase Reverse Assignment (SBPRA) algorithm and the Multiple Booking Phases Reverse Assignment (MBPRA) algorithm are proposed to estimate the time-varying demand respectively. Case analysis on OD pair Beijing-Shanghai are presented, and the validity analysis demonstrates that the error rates of SBPRA algorithm and MBPRA algorithm are 8.64% and 6.37%, respectively.

Abstract:
In the subject of railway operation, predicting railway passenger volume has always been a hot topic. Accurately forecasting railway passenger volume is the foundation for railway transportation companies to optimize transit efficiency and revenue. The goal of this research is to use a combination of the fuzzy time series approach based on the rate of change algorithm and the Holt double exponential smoothing method to forecast the number of train passengers. In contrast to prior investigations, we focus primarily on determining the next time period in this research. The fuzzy time series is employed as the forecasting basis, the rate of change is used to build the set of universes, and the Holt's double exponential smoothing method is utilized to forecast the following period in this case study. The number of railway passengers predicted for January 2020 is 38199, with a tiny average forecasting error rate of 0.89 percent and a mean square error of 131325. It can also help rail firms identify future passenger needs, which can be used to decide whether to expand train cars or run new trains, as well as how to distribute tickets.

Abstract:
Background: Data that combines techniques and technologies that make sense of information at the extreme limit of practicality is called "big data." Big data contributed to a deeper understanding of the behavior of the features of many systems, and, in particular, the transport system. Big data from various sources with a different range of data scales is becoming more accessible to society. However, in the framework of railway transport, obtaining big data relevant for users, which are both private individuals and companies, is a difficult task, and data collection tools are scarce and their absence is an obstacle to an in-depth study of the patterns of human mobility. The informational basis of the study is the data on unclaimed Sapsan train tickets in the direction Moscow - St. Petersburg during the period February 19, 2020 - March 4, 2020. Information on unclaimed tickets allows us to analyze the behavior of railway users during their travels along the Moscow - St. Petersburg route in a weekly and daily breakdown for the period February 19, 2020 - March 4, 2020. Aim: Analysis of the behavior of passengers of railway transport based on publicly available big data from the official website of Russian Railways. Materials and Methods: The discovered daily cycle gives us the opportunity to conclude on the preferences of passengers and allows us to carry out further research in this direction, based on the results. The result of the study can be called finding some patterns in the preferences of passengers. This study is relevant for companies whose field of activity is associated with rail transport, as well as for companies directly involved in transportation. The data obtained in the study allow, using separate methods of intellectual analysis or applied programming, to perform A / B testing, build marketing strategies, optimize production and solve other problems associated with assessing passenger flow and passenger movement. Results: A wavy diurnal cycle of maximum line congestion was detected, distinguished by two time periods: 06.00 - 09.00 and 15.00 -17.00. It was found that the lowest occupancy rate was during the working week. It was revealed that a higher occupancy rate - about 90 % - was from Friday to Sunday in both one and the other direction of movement. A difference in occupancy between train directions was also found. Trains moving from Moscow to St. Petersburg are more densely populated.

Abstract:
As India's largest employer has gone digital, this is the beginning of mass acquisition in a new dimension. Indian Railways serves on a peripheral scale in the size of each aircraft. It carries 23,000 passengers and over 3 million tonnes daily, with more than 12,000 passengers traveling at 115,000 km and 7000 stations. But as the nation's largest employer has begun to digitalize its services operations, it is beginning to gain mass in an emerging dimension. The network collects around 100 datasets per user (one truffle is enough to store 500–1000 movies). This passenger booking plate has 25 million users, leading to approximately 800,000 daily transactions. Such is the creation of a digital scale railway ecosystem, a fertile ground for entrepreneurs, employers and large scale technology for testing and testing. And while Railways has made a good start by integrating third parties with third parties, the company can create a seamless experience in booking, payment and other services at the top of the railway data pipeline. Here we have several ways to verify a passenger or passenger ticket, which will be discussed one by one on Fig.1. We understand here that the N computer system (server) is available in the availability center and the availability train provided by the NECC (North Eastern Carrying Corporation Ltd). Each seat or chair acts as a spring (Smart) chair, which means that we are connected to a ticket scanner or chair that can scan tickets and send the actual data to the field node (fog node). Later, the latest analysis will result in the proposed data and the final data that will be sent to the cloud. We are connected to multiple devices to share real-time data and updated real-time data on the cloud. We have created a fog environment and a cloud environment. We have implemented this with the help of clipping and sending data by sending real data separately. We have created a smart gateway between military (Servers) and customer (sensor), cloud and customer (sensor). In this paper, there is the solution that can enhanced the chances of getting confirm ticket, based on individual server load in coaches of the train, according to the increase in the number of sensors request, in the context of processing and considering three cases , it is an answer by analysing cloud-fog scenario. Up to this implementation the simple round robin algorithm is also used solution for load balancing purpose. The method is implemented by using a class student attendance system in a college level.

Abstract:
The sustainable development of the transport logistics system (TLS) of passenger transportation in Russia is of great social importance for the mobility of the population. The purpose of the study is to check whether the course of the company JSC “FPC” for sustainable development, formulated in the strategy until 2030, is being implemented. The company has created a corporate quality system to improve the quality of services, ensure customer-oriented processes, and improve traffic safety. However, statistics show that the company’s development is unstable, as the share of passenger traffic is small – 6,6% in 2012 and 5,5 % in 2019, and the volume decreased from 1421 to 1201 million people during this period. The majority of the population of the country chooses other modes of transport, because their need for mobility is not provided: the prices of railway tickets are high; also the travel time is significant, due to the low speeds of passenger trains. And the quality of the infrastructure (the state of the railway track and tracks) currently does not allow organizing high-speed movement of modern transport on the territory of the country; serious investments are needed to solve this problem.

Abstract:
Evaluation of Competitiveness of Rail Transport on Example of Connection Among Regional Capitals in Czechia The article is focused on evaluating the significance of rail passenger transport in transport contacts among regional capitals in Czechia representing the most important centres in the settlement hierarchy. The review of the particular connections works with the values of the year 2007 and is based on the relationship between supply and demand for rail passenger traffic. The evaluation is based on the number of rail links within the working day, while assuming that the supply is influenced by the location of the centre in the transport network and its position in the settlement hierarchy. Real demand data represent the number of tickets sold by the Czech Railways. Theoretical size of the interaction is obtained by application of the gravity model. Based on the final evaluation of indicators of supply and demand for rail traffic among regional capitals and their interactions, relations are described where demand is substantially below, respectively beyond the level of real supply and theoretical interaction, which is based on the importance of centres and their accessibility of the railway transport in time. In conclusion, the opportunities for the development of infrastructure in the selected connection in relation to transport planning are outlined, using the obtained results.

Abstract:
In recent years, with the global energy shortage and severe environmental deterioration, railway transport has begun to attract great interest as a green transportation mode. One of the vital means to realize social sustainable development is to improve railway transportation systems, in which providing a demand-oriented train timetable with a higher service level is the most viable method. A demand-oriented train timetable problem generally deals with passengers’ train-choice decisions according to the queue principle, but it is not adapted to rail systems, such as China’s, where passengers usually book tickets a few days in advance by telephone or online instead of going to stations. This paper is devoted to modeling and solving the demand-oriented train timetabling problem integrated with passengers’ train-booking decisions. Firstly, a bi-level programming model is formulated for their integrated optimization on a rail network. Its upper-level model is to optimize train arrival and departure times at each visited station with the aim of reducing passengers’ total travel cost, while its lower-level model aims to determine passengers’ train-booking behavior using the user equilibrium theory. Then, a priority-based heuristic algorithm is designed to solve this model. It has two main steps at each iteration: one is to determine the number of passengers booking each train with a given train timetable, and the other is to improve the current train timetable based on the valuable information of passenger train-booking decisions. The performance, convergence, and practicability of the proposed method were analyzed based on the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan intercity rail in China. Experimental results show the proposed method can effectively reduce the travel cost for passengers, creating a greater passenger demand for railway travel, which is beneficial to the sustainable development of railway systems and even society.

Abstract:
The Federal Republic of Germany is one of the last member states of the European Union that have liberalized the market of the longdistance buses (interurban buses). Since 1935 until the end of 2012 the access to the market was strictly regulated. Bus companies were allowed only when the bus transport does not threaten the position of railways, and it was only a supplement. The beginning of 2013 lifted most of the restrictions. It has started a dynamic growth of the market. The long-distance buses have changed significantly the urban transport policy as well as have boosted the intermodal competition in the segment of long-distance transport. In the German cities have appeared significant traffic generators, and space of bus terminals turned to be insufficient. Coaches, despite legal restrictions, have become part of the regional transport systems. The unaccustomed to competition national railway carrier – Deutsche Bahn – was forced to find a new position in the market. The answer was to increase the number of promotional tickets. At the same time at the bus market has begun the processes of concentration. The dominant company acquired more than 90 percent of the market. The rapid development of the long-distance buses caused the questions about the extension of a present of motorways toll for lorries also for buses. From the perspective of six years, the liberalization of the bus market to be considered, however, as having a positive impact on transport policy. Most of the passengers using interurban buses used to use private cars, not the railways, as originally feared.

Abstract:
The article discusses the main aspects of the architectural and planning organization of service facilities for transport hubs. The main blocks of the functional planning structure of transport interchange hubs (T.I.HUB), elements of their structure and principles of placement in the structure of large cities have been formed in the center, in the structure of residential areas, in historical city centers, and in the contact zone of urban and suburban development. The work substantiates the relevance of the development regarding the design of transport hubs (T.HUB)s in the structure of modern cities, which are constantly and systematically developing, increasing the need for the transportation of an increasing number of passengers. The dynamic development of modern infrastructural cities, especially large ones, require a revision of the norms and dimensions of transfer stations, the landing front of stops, the reorganization of the inner spaces of the transport hubs (T.HUB), etc. The design and construction of transport hubs can be carried out in a completely new construction, reconstruction or reconstruction with modernization, or in the difficult conditions. Already today, many big cities are suffering from traffic jams bordering on collapse, especially during peak hours. Therefore, this problem must be solved in all possible ways, especially attention should be paid to the architectural and planning organization of service facilities, which are located at the transport hub (T.HUB). A transport interchange hub is a nodal element of the city's planning structure, which allows organizational transfer of passengers between various types of urban and external (intercity, international) passenger transport or between different lines of the same type of transport in an urban structure. For example, transport hubs (T.HUB) are possible in the structure of the functioning of a railway transport hub from one railway line to another. Transport interchange hubs (T.I.HUB)can be specialized or multifunctional, and include a number of facilities for passing passenger services and social infrastructure: accumulative lobbies in front of the entrance group ("entrance" - "exit"), a foyer with digital validation of electronic tickets and cards on different routes of passengers; cargo and goods rooms for baggage claim (at airports, river stations and railway stations); customs premises (if we are talking about international flights departing from transport hubs (T.HUB); intercepting parking lots and taxi and bus stands; public service facilities; shops, catering establishments; financial institutions, etc. As noted earlier, we can talk about six types of transport hubs (T.HUB) in the structure of the designed and existing nodes on land, underground, river, rail, sea and air transport. Thus, modern transport hubs can be organized not only in the city structure, but also in ports, railways. railway stations and airports, which can significantly expand their typological range of service facilities.

Abstract:
With the steady increase of corporate system reform in the railway transportation industry, high-speed railways have accelerated their steps toward marketization, and the market competition they face has become increasingly fierce. In this context, enterprises need to make quick adjustments to new changes in order to seize the market share, obtain stable ticket income, and eventually, achieve financial sustainability while ensuring the healthy development of high-speed railways. Thus, it is particularly important to determine a reasonable ticket price. While considering supply and demand, market competition, and passenger utility, this study constructs a model of the passenger flow sharing rate and applies it to modeling the optimal ticket price for high-speed railways, taking the Beijing–Shanghai High-speed Railway as an example for calculating this model. Using the results calculated, this study analyzes the influence of the optimal ticket price on the financial sustainability of the enterprise through use of the evaluation system of financial sustainability established above. The results show that the existing price for a train ticket from of Beijing to Shanghai is not the optimal one, and there is still room for a price increase; the ticket price has an impact on financial sustainability by affecting corporate operating income and cash flow. The study provides a method for formulating the optimal ticket price for high-speed railway travel and enriches the research on the financial sustainability of high-speed railways.

Abstract:
The development of high-speed railways (HSR) in China has attracted a large number of passengers from highway and aviation to railways due to their comfort and high speed. In this case, HSR passenger transportation can improve the operating income by optimizing the ticket allocation. Here, we propose an optimization method of multiclass price railway passenger transport ticket allocation under high passenger demand. First, for the “censored data” problem in the railway passenger demand forecast, we constructed an unconstrained model of railway passenger demand and solved the unconstrained demand through an expectation-maximization algorithm. Then, on this basis, we use gray neural networks (GNNs) to predict the passenger demand of different origins and destinations (ODs), and according to the prediction results, we propose two ticket allocation methods based on operation and capacity control: accurate predivided model and fuzzy predivided model. And we solve this problem by constructing a particle swarm optimization algorithm. Lastly, we use examples to prove that the proposed ticket allocation method can meet the passengers’ needs and have good economic benefits.

Abstract:
Christian Chevandier's Cheminots en Greve is a social, political, and institutional history of railroad workers in France from 1848 to 2001. It is told from the standpoint of the role of strikes in forming the occupational identity of these workers, known in France as cheminots (Chevandier finds the earliest use of the expression dating back to 1898; by the 1930s the Academie Francaise officially recognized it as a French word). Cheminots belong to various crafts and trades. They drive the trains, repair locomotives and rolling stock in shops and factories, sell tickets in stations and collect them in trains. Although the book is largely structured around a chronological account of railway strikes, Chevandier looks beyond the strike for sources of cheminot identity. These include the evolving structure of the French railroad system from private companies to state ownership, the role of skill and technological change, and especially union strategies, structures, and above all divisions. Along the way he revisits earlier treatments of French labor and railworker history, and takes up old historiographical controversies debating, confirming, and refuting well-known scholars from Annie Kriegel to historians of a younger generation like George Ribeill and Atsushi Fukasawa.

The paper examines the problem of the productive functioning of an urban passenger transport system, which has a modular structure for the generation and exploitation of the urban transport services. The research objects consist of conventional, scalable and innovative contactless transaction models of an urban transport services in the case study of the Transport Organization (TO) – Joint Stock Company for Passenger Railway Transport “Serbia Trains” (Srbija Voz a.d.). The urban transport service is defined by invoking users, user expectations and requirements, the input data provided by users to a transport provider, the mechanisms for access and delivery of the service, the resources and roles responsible for delivery, security requirements and other parameters. The communication platform for modeling urban transport services in different transaction contexts is defined by the utilitarian framework with 6W dimensions with situational mapping of the 6 Communication Dynamics Factors (6CDF). The technology-process restructuring was achieved with the scalable In-formation Technology (IT) model by implementing the elements of electronic business in the key activities of the supply of the train tickets. Using the results of the performed research, in the paper has been developed an innovative, non-contact ICT model of urban transport services on the platform for integrating the Internet service into the process-technology and behavioral-context structures.

Abstract:
Abstract. The wear rate of passenger cars of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" according to various estimates is equal up to 88-93%. Its aging is going on at a rapid pace and is not compensated by the acquisition of new cars. The paper analyzes the current state of the inventory of passenger cars. Data on replenishment of the fleet of passenger cars of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" by years of construction are given: in the years 1951-1979 1708 cars were purchased; from 1980 till 1991 3881 cars were received; from 1992 till 2009 532 units were purchased; in 2010-2011 years 30 cars were purchased; in 2016 only 9 were purchased; in 2017 this figure totals to 50 units; in the years 2018-2019 26 cars were purchased. The structure of the fleet of passenger cars by type as of October 9, 2020 is given. The paper presents the statistical data of passenger transportation by railway transport of Ukraine. The work of passenger transport in January - September 2020 in comparison with the similar period of 2019 is reviewed. The rapid decline in passenger traffic by rail in 2020 is due to the introduction of strict quarantine in Ukraine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, passenger transportation by rail was completely stopped from March 11, 2020, and partially resumed in the second half of May. During the quarantine the number of assigned trains decreased significantly, and tickets for these trains were sold for a limited number of seats in cars (50% of seats), so losses incurred by Ukrzaliznytsia increased at least one and a half to two times (approximately UAH 1 billion, taking into account the fact that such transportation is social in nature, and ticket prices are regulated by the state). Statistics on the production of passenger cars by domestic enterprises are given in the paper. Analyzed the current state of the passenger car fleet of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and made the appropriate conclusions and made recommendations on the necessary volumes of renewal of the passenger car fleet.

Abstract:
India is one of the largest countries in terms of geographical size, which requires efficient means for long-distance transportation. Public transport, being the primary mode of transport, remains a powerful yardstick to measure the overall development of a nation. Among the various modes of transport, Railways are one of the biggest modes of passenger transport in the world. The Railway passenger services face long term competitive threats from airlines, luxury buses, personalized transport, and improved public transport. To compete with other modes of transport, it is inevitable for railways to accelerate the growth of passenger’s origination. It is essential for the railway authorities to know the opinion of the passengers regarding the services offered to them to make future policies and provisions. Having this drive in mind, the researchers have undertaken a study about the services provided by the Indian Railways along with its objectives to analyze the passengers’ preferences, satisfaction, limitations, and perceptions towards the same. Every aspect related to railway services like ticket availability, quality of travel, employee behavior, safety, timing, and other relevant aspects is analyzed at different levels of the research. As passenger satisfaction is chosen to be the concept for this research, elements that allow passengers to feel satisfied with offered services are also mentioned in the theoretical part. The scope of this project is limited to passengers of Madurai city.

Abstract:
The problem of the construction of a new system of rate-making in the suburban passenger transportation is described. The analyses of the present day rate systems is conducted. It determined such disadvantages as the absence of the systems flexibility, the record of the competitiveness with other means of transport and social fair pricing. Methods of the rate-making control of the suburban railway transport is researched basing on the multi-level optimization from the view point of its implementation to practical use of the suburban passenger companies. In spite of the correct rate-making conception this method forms socially unfair rates, lets passengers save on the payment of transportation due to «sectoring» the tickets between a rail line station. This can raise the unprofitability of the suburban companies. Moreover, the method of the competitiveness with alternative means of transport is produced, mostly, for the ground, but not on separated passenger correspondences. On the analyses of theory and practical work of the suburban companies the project of the calculating method of fair rates in the suburban lines is offered, which allows to work out a rate matrix for people, depending on their social and economical position in municipal structures of the regional service, the transportation expenses of a suburban company and a probable amount of a regional grant. The rate matrix creation is based on the principals of providing the social fairness. It is reached due to the use of kilometer-by-kilometer station-by-station rate-making type. A suburban company works within competitiveness, therefore the flexible rate policy contains an element of the market pricing to attract an extra passenger flow to the suburban trains. An algorithm of the rate matrix calculation is offered. It takes into account restrictions of the passengers’ solvent demands and the amount of grants with the competitive ability-related rates.
