Abstract:
Noise reduction in piston pumps has been being the focus research. Many methods have been designed to smooth it. Research shows that noise takes place at the time when pistons enter the discharge port or enter the suction port. In fact, noise is induced by imbalance pressure in piston chamber. In this paper, piston initial volume and instantaneous controlled volume are deduced. Equations describing pressure angle-rate-of-change are also deduced. Keep the pressure increment equal when the pump eccentric distance is maximum and minimum, and then find out the optimal structure parameters. The parameters makes the pressure ripple minimize and makes the lowest noise.

Abstract:
This paper studies the flow characteristics and flow ripple reduction techniques of a spool valves distributed radial piston pump. The mathematical models of the pump are established, and simulations based on the mathematics are performed in AMESim environment. The results indicate that the spool valves distributed radial piston pump has fewer flow fluctuations than the pump distributed by check valves, due to the rigid motion of its distribution component—the spool valves. Then, in order to reduce the flow ripple of the spool valves distributed radial piston pump, three techniques, namely, time delay, relief chamfer and transition compression filter volume, are proposed and their working principles are illustrated. Particularly, the design method of time delay is elaborated and its effectiveness is evaluated. The simulation results suggest that with the usage of the time delay method, the fluctuation range of the spool valves distributed radial piston pump is expected to be reduced by 21.7%.

Abstract:
Purpose The drive shaft and the distribution shaft of a traditional radial piston pump are in a cantilever state. To solve this problem, this paper aims to present a radial piston pump with through shaft driving and valve plate distribution. Design/methodology/approach The working principle of the pump is discussed in detail. In this radial piston pump, valve plate distribution parts are designed to distribute oil to the piston chambers, and the distribution shaft is replaced. A bearing is installed between the stator and rotator to reduce the friction. The transmission shaft is supported by two bearings to ensure smooth operation. The support force of the transmission shaft is optimized. In addition, the flow pulsation principle is presented. To accomplish the change, the displacement of the radial piston pump, the proportional control system is designed. Findings After completing the machining and assembly of the pump, an experimental study was carried out. The results show that the output flow of the pump is basically the same as the theoretical flow. Originality/value The friction between the slipping shoes and the stator is greatly reduced due to the function of rolling bearings. The higher stability of the driveshaft is obtained for the reason of double-sided support. The radial piston pump has a novel structural design in reducing the friction between the shoes and the stator and improving the stability of the transmission shaft.

The working mode of constant-pressure radial piston pump includes the mode of constant flow and constant pressure. The dynamic model of stator vibration was established and the analysis was made on the stator vibrating velocity in time domain to the two modes. Measurement mechanism was designed to test the vibration of stator of JB32H-type radial piston pump. It is concluded from the analysis and test results that the velocity of stator vibrates periodically on the two modes. The maximum amplitude on the mode of constant pressure is smaller than the one on the mode of constant flow. The conclusions are helpful to the noise control of piston pump.

The displacement, velocity, acceleration and stress curves of the piston under different working conditions were investigated. In addition, a ball-in-socket contact model was established, and the effects of hydraulic pressure, piston radius and radial clearance on normal displacement, contact radius, maximum contact pressure, normal contact stiffness and tangential contact stiffness were analyzed comprehensively. The results indicate that the normal displacement, maximum contact pressure, contact radius, normal contact stiffness and tangential contact stiffness can be improved by enlarging the piston radius and decreasing the radial clearance.

Abstract:
Dynamic lubrication analyses for a spherical pump, consisting of a piston and cylinder, are presented. Contact forces between piston and cylinder are modeled first using an equivalent ball-on-plane model. Both the effects of external loads and operating conditions are considered in a dynamic elastohydrodynamic lubrication model, which is derived from Reynolds equation. Two assumed time-dependent sine-wave and square-wave loads are applied to the model. Fluid film thicknesses are estimated using the model and assumed loads, effects of different structural, and operational parameters, such as piston diameter, radial clearance, applied load, piston speed, lubricant viscosity, and surface roughness, on fluid film thickness are investigated. Fluid film thickness reactions of more realistic smooth and continuous sine wave loads are compared to discontinuous ones in order to verify whether or not assumed ideal loads are acceptable and reliable. Results indicate that piston diameter, speed, lubricant viscosity have positive relations on the dynamic lubrication performance, and increasing these values can improve the dynamic lubrication regime. While the parameters such as radial clearance, applied load, and surface roughness have the verse effects. Furthermore, the impacts of all the above parameters on fluid film are different either. These obtained results can be used to effectively optimize spherical pump lubrication performance.

Abstract:
This paper proposed a novel double-row radial piston pump. In this pump, the transformation from the rotation of the shaft to the reciprocation of the piston is realized by a pentagon mechanism, and the oil is distributed by check valves, which are integrally designed on the pump body. Theoretical calculation demonstrated that this improved design can substantially reduce the force on the main shaft of pump. The formulas of instantaneous flow rate and fluctuation coefficient of the pump are deduced. For studying the working characteristics of the pump further, a prototype was manufactured and tested. Results show that when the rotation speed is over 125 r/min, the performances of pump prototype are qualified, the fluctuation rate is limited to 20% and the volumetric efficiency can reach 90%. Moreover, the pump was disassembled after 100 h of service and the wear condition was checked. Except for the pentagon which has indentation on the surface, the components of the pump are all kept intact.

Purpose This paper aims to investigate the lubrication regime in spherical pump, especially under different structural parameters and operational conditions. Design/methodology/approach A ball-on-plane configuration is adopted to represent the contact model between spherical piston and cylinder cover. The governing equations, which include the Reynolds and elasticity equations, are solved and validated by Jin–Dowson model. Both minimum film thickness and lambda ratio (ratio of minimum fluid film thickness to combined surface roughness of the piston and cylinder cover) of the equivalent model are obtained using an established model. Findings The results indicate that piston diameter and radial clearance are the two main factors affecting the pump lubrication regime. Other related parameters such as rotation speed of the piston, load, viscosity of working medium, material matching and surface roughness of piston and cylinder cover also have different impacts on the lubrication regime of the spherical pump. Originality/value These results emphasize the importance of the design and manufacturing parameters on the tribological performance of spherical pumps and these are also helpful in improving the spherical pump lubrication regime and enlarging its life cycle. The swash plate axial piston pump is a main part in liquid press system. It is a positive displacement pump which rely on the change of the plunger cavity content to realize oil absorption or discharge of oil by the reciprocating movement of the plunger in the plunger cavity. Plunger, the slippery boots, oil pan, cylinder body are important parts of the swash plate axial piston pump. Sliding boots is one of commonly used by high-pressure plunger pump form, it can meet the needs of the high pressure high speed;the oil distribution plate and cylinder directly affect of the pump efficiency and life span[1]. Because the swash plate axial piston pump has the advantages of compact structure, fewer parts, good manufacture ability, low cost, small volume, light weight, than the radial pump has the advantages of simple structure, easy to realize step less variable and convenient maintenance, it has been widely used in the industrial production.

Abstract:
Direct drive motor-pumps have attracted a lot of attention from researchers because of high efficiency and compact structure. This paper presents a new type of direct drive motor-pump, which integrates the structure of the radial piston pump and axial-flux permanent-magnet machine. The rotor of the disc motor is fixedly connected to the pump rotor, and the new pump uses a new type of distribution shaft for oil distribution. This structure reduces the intermediate transmission mechanism, and the application of the disc motor further reduces the axial size, the overall volume, and heat dissipation. The efficiency of the entire system has been improved. The three-dimensional finite element method is used to dynamically analyze flow field in the flow channel, which is extracted and simplified. The flow and pressure of the pump meet the design requirements in the simulation. A disc motor was designed for the pump, and the theoretical formula of the disc motor was derived. The initial size of the motor was obtained. The response surface method and three-dimensional finite element are used to optimize the corresponding axial-flux permanent-magnet machine. Loading the torque condition of the pump to the load end of the motor, the response of the motor meets the requirements.

In this paper a new control method has been studied in which PID control system was integrated into the neural network. It could overcome some disadvantages such as neural network’s slow rate of convergence and PID’s difficulty in application of multivariate nonlinear systems. A controller of the Electro-hydraulic proportional control stroking mechanism for radial piston pump was designed based on the PID neural network control algorithm. The system responses of system variable control signal of system track were achieved by computer simulation. It was found by PIDNN that the control system could reach steady state in a shorter time, compared with PID control system response time by 65% to 80%. Abstract:
Sliding bearing pair is one of the important friction pairs within water hydraulic axial piston pump, which can result in significant influences on the pump’s performance. Generally, owing to the characteristics of low viscosity and poor lubrication of water, the sliding bearing will operate under condition of dry or mixed lubrication, leading to a severe adhesives wear and material softening. In order to investigate the flow field of the sliding bearing in hydrodynamic condition, the effects of the water film pressure distribution, load carrying capacity changing with radial clearance and width–radius ratio of the sliding bearing pair have been simulated through MATLAB. And a suitable material combination of the sliding bearing pair was selected though a custom-manufactured friction and wear test rig. Based on the theoretical and experimental studies, an appropriate structure of the sliding bearing within water hydraulic axial piston pump was designed. The loading experiments for the developed water hydraulic axial piston pump assembled with two different flanges have been conducted at a water hydraulic component test rig. The experimental results revealed that the volumetric efficiency and noise characteristics of the pump are remarkably improved when the sliding bearing work under hydrodynamic lubrication condition in comparison with dry lubrication condition. The research results have laid the foundation for the development and improvement of the water hydraulic axial piston pump.

Abstract:
Based on the theory of thermal fluid dynamic lubrication, the Reynolds equation and energy equation of the average flow of a piston–cylinder interface of a radial piston pump in a high-pressure common rail system are established, considering the surface topography effect. The tribological properties of the piston–cylinder interface are calculated by solving the Reynolds equation and energy equation. A surface wear model is established and the wear distribution and trend of the piston–cylinder interface are studied. The wear characteristics of the piston–cylinder interface are verified through experiment, and the wear lubrication of the piston–cylinder interface is discussed. The surface topography effect has a considerable influence on the characteristics of the piston–cylinder interface film. Different surface morphologies change the film characteristics of the piston–cylinder interface, yielding different wear behaviors on the mating surface. The wear of the piston–cylinder interface first decreases along the film outlet to the inlet and then rises. The cylinder surface mainly exhibits abrasive, cavitation, and micro-convex scratch wear, whereas the piston surface mainly shows cavitation wear. The results obtained in this study are of considerable significance as they reveal the tribological properties of the piston–cylinder interface under the surface topography effect.

Abstract:
The present work develops an integrated permanent magnetic damper (IPMD) to apply magnetic torque on a cylinder block, which makes it possible to suppress eccentric wear of the cylinder block–valve plate pair in an axial piston pump. Then, the structure and working principle of the IPMD are described. According to the relationship between the axial and the radial magnetic pole gap, the corresponding end flux tube models are established. Based on the principle of micro-displacement, the axial magnetic force and torque output by IPMD are derived. After separating from the relevant structures inside the pump, to ensure the effectiveness of the results, the test method of IPMD independent of the axial piston pump is provided. To make a more comprehensive analysis of the magnetic bearing characteristics, the prototype of IPMD is manufactured and tested. The influence of the end effect of IPMD on the residual hydraulic torque under different discharge pressures is studied. The results verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis, which have important guiding significance to improve the reliability of the cylinder block–valve plate pair in the axial piston pump.

The technological processes of cold rolling of precision workpieces and ring parts, rolling of pipes, rolling of piston-connecting rod axial-rotor piston pump, which are a kind of processing of metals by pressure and contain changes in the shape of workpieces according to performing relative to the axis of the workpiece radial rotational motion. The workpiece can remain stationary or rotate. It is shown that by means of technological process of rolling of pipes, unrolling of preparations various hollow axisymmetric metal products receive, the specified processes are combined by the mechanism of deformation, namely: at them two deformations of compression and one - tension are realized. This mechanical deformation scheme creates favorable conditions for plastic deformation, because intercrystalline displacements are difficult, leading to the violation of mechanical bonds, and plastic deformation occurs mainly due to intracrystalline displacements. It is shown that in the process of connecting the piston-connecting rod in compliance with the process parameters (output supply pressure, feed rate, leaving time) the value of the specified gap either exceeds the maximum value or decreases to the value at which the next operation of the piston-connecting rod spell. The deformed state in the technological operation of rolling the piston-connecting rod pair at different stages of shape change is studied, the process control mechanism is revealed, which prevents the defect in the form of deviation from the regulated gap after rolling between the piston and the connecting rod. The used resource of plasticity at different stages of rolling is calculated, the deformability of the piston workpiece in the rolling process is estimated.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION: The paper presents the operating conditions of tractor diesel engines that cause the appearance of thermal fatigue cracks on the edges of the piston combustion chamber. The presence of sharp edges of the combustion chamber in the pistons, which are stress concentrators, leads to an increase in the probability of their destruction and thereby limits the engine life of the diesel engine. The main reasons for the formation of cracks in the zone of the edge of the combustion chamber are indicated. AIMS: The aim of this study is the assessment of the temperature state of pistons of the D-240 and the D-245 tractor diesel engines, produced by Minsk Motor Plant (MMP). METHODS: Temperature gauging was carried out according to the method in order to identify the nature of changing of piston heads temperatures under stationary and nonstationary operation modes of diesel engines. Transfering of thermal electromotive force from thermocouples to measuring devices was carried out by means of an intermittent current collector. Imitaion of nonstationary operation modes was carried out by means of changing the cyclic feed of a high pressure fuel pump, using a reversible electric motor. RESULTS: The data of the temperature state of pistons under various stationary and nonstationary operation modes of engines is provided. It is noted that the temperature state of the D-245 diesel pistons has a higher level of heat stress compared to the D-240 diesel pistons. The maximum amplitude of low-frequency temperature fluctuations at the edge of the combustion chamber and their radial differences along the piston bottom are determined, depending on the parameters of thermal loading cycles. It is noted that the most dangerous modes of diesel operation, in terms of the destruction of the edge of the combustion chamber, are sharply changing modes (eg.: theloading unloading mode). CONCLUSIONS: It is proposed to increase the fuel injection advance angle in the thermal loading cycle in order to conduct accelerated comparative tests of piston variants for thermal resistance. The developed thermal loading cycle, in which the total duration of the load increase is 180 s and the total duration of the load decrease is 90 s, can be recommended for accelerated motor tests of pistons for thermal cycling resistance. The obtained temperature measurement data is recommended to clarify boundary conditions of the first kind when calculating the piston using the FEM method.

Abstract:
AbstractThe article presents an energy analysis of a real suction-pressure unit of a high-efficiency radial piston pump. This pump can be used in small hydropower plants, where, together with a variable displacement hydraulic motor, it would form a hydrostatic transmission. The main advantage of this solution is the possibility of a stepless, automatic change of gear ratio during its operation, which allows an increase of the efficiency of power generation in a hydropower plant. Mathematical models of friction and resistance of flow through self-acting and geometrical deformations of chambers and piston under stress field are presented. In addition, mass, volume, and energy balance calculations were computed for the ideal unit and pressure losses were determined. Derived indicator diagrams for each chamber of the ideal suction-pressure unit served to analyze the technical work of occurring processes. The paper also presents the formulation of total efficiency of the unit. Lastly, the experimental procedure is presented, according to which it is possible to register the most important parameters of the proposed model.

Abstract:
Based on the external compaction return mechanism of a balanced double-row axial piston pump and the vector coordinate transformation principle, a mathematical model of the relative motion relation within the external return spherical bearing pair was built. The influence of slant inclination of the external swash plate and of pump shaft rotating speed and eccentricity on the relative motion trail, movement speed and acceleration was analysed. The relative motion velocity and acceleration between external retainer plate and external spherical hinge, at top and bottom dead centres, were discussed. By increasing the slant inclination of the external swash plate, the relative motion trail increased correspondingly, leading to a larger size of the pump integral structure. The relative speed and acceleration increased with the pump shaft speed and the slant inclination of the external swash plate, leading to a larger fluctuation of the slipper pair oil film. The increase of eccentricity slightly influenced the relative velocity and acceleration along the x-axis, without significantly increasing the fluctuation of the slipper pair oil film. Increasing the pump shaft speed, the external swash plate slant inclination and the eccentricity all caused fluctuations in the relative velocity and acceleration along the y- and z-axes, deepening the grinding crack on the compaction surface of the external retainer plate. In case of eccentricity and a 0° rotation angle of the principal axis, the related acceleration of the radial friction surface of the retainer plate showed the largest fluctuation amplitude, and a scratch could easily occur.

Abstract:
The performance of axial-piston hydraulic feed pumps depends on the technical condition of the coupling parts that form a radial gap in the pumping unit of the pump. The dynamics of its growth is largely due to the technical condition of parts that form a radial gap in the plain bearings of the pumping pump assembly: «drive shaft pin - bushing hole», «driven axle pin - bushing hole». Stabilization of a radial backlash in sliding bearings is possible by carrying out constructive improvement of the plug which will provide reduction of a contact angle of surfaces of friction of details in couplings. The aim of the work is to ensure the stabilization of the radial clearance in the pumping unit of the feed pump by developing constructive measures to reduce wear of parts in its plain bearings. From the analysis of the operating conditions of the plain bearing it is established that the reduction of the friction force is possible due to the reduction of the contour pressures and the increase of the area of liquid friction between the surfaces of the parts. Providing such conditions is possible by using combined bushings, which consist of working and guide bushings, between which is installed an elastic damping element in the spherical channels of which are additional compensation springs, which are placed in a circle through . The reduction of the friction force when using a combined sleeve with compensating springs is explained by the formation of the deformation component of the friction force at the vertices of the microroughness of the sleeve surface, as the spring elasticity is 4% less than the modulus of elasticity of the sleeve material. The lower value of the moment of friction forces at the end of the test is due to the constant absorption of vibration loads by the elastic damping element, the elasticity of which is 2% less than the modulus of elasticity of the sleeve material, which also reduces the contact area. The total less wear of the experimental friction pair is due to the reduction of the contact area of the shaft with the sleeve in the area of maximum values of friction forces.

Due to the lack of 63.5 mm balloons in Ukraine in the first layout of Hop-900 hydraulic transmission sample, the balls of the PBG company (Precision Ball and Gauge Co., England) were used. However, the trials of hydraulic transmission showed increased wear and cracks on the surface of the balls. Goal. The purpose of the work is to increase the wear resistance of the units of a pump-controlled hydraulic drive. Methodology. The coating on the TICRN ball was carried out at the Bu-Lat-3T installation. The coating modes were chosen using a methodology for mathematical planning of an experiment by evaluating microhardness of molded coating and the material use factor. Metallographic studies of the structure of the materials studied and sprayed coatings were performed on the digestive and non-digestive grinds on the MIM-8M microscope. The phase composition of the spray coatings was determined on a Don-1.5 diffractometer in monochromatic CUKα radiation. Results. Following the wear resistance of all investigated materials showed the largest wear resistance of the balls with ion-plasma coating on the surface. Originality. The tests of the samples of radial ball-piston hydraulic transmission of GOP-900 type allowed to conclude that their reliability and further improvement is largely due to the reliability of the piston ball, to which there are high requirements for wear resistance, minimum volume of force and temperature deformation. Practical value. Taking into account the negative experience of using imported steel balls from chrome steel, positive experience of using balloons from Steel SH-15CG, mastered by the production of OJSC HARP, and at the same time, the need to increase the heat resistance and wear resistance of balls should be considered as promising research when using beads from powder, rapid steels of type P6M5F3-MP, ceramic balls having high strength properties.

Pulse diagnosis is important in oriental medicine. The purpose of this study is explaining the mechanisms of pulse with a cardiovascular simulator. The simulator is comprised of the pulse generating part, the vessel part, and the measurement part. The pulse generating part was composed of motor, slider-crank mechanism, and piston pump. The vessel part, which was composed with the aorta and a radial artery, was fabricated with silicon to implement pulse wave propagation. The pulse parameters, such as the depth, rate, shape, and strength, were simulated. With changing the mean pressure, the floating pulse and the sunken pulse were generated. The change of heart rate generated the slow pulse and the rapid pulse. The control of the superposition time of the reflected wave generated the string-like pulse and the slippery pulse. With changing the pulse pressure, the vacuous pulse and the replete pulse were generated. The generated pulses showed good agreements with the typical pulses.

Abstract:
The mechatronic-electro-hydraulic coupler (MEHC) is a novel type of multisource coupling power device which integrates a traditional permanent magnet synchronous motor with a swash plate axial piston pump/motor to realize the mutual conversion of electrical energy, mechanical energy, and hydraulic energy. In order to improve the MEHC’s noise, vibration, and harshness performance, an electromagnetic vibration and noise simulation analysis was performed with a six-pole 36-slot motor as the research object. Firstly, the spatial order and frequency of the radial electromagnetic force were deduced by an analytical method. Subsequently, the electromagnetic field was simulated, and the electromagnetic force was extracted via a fast Fourier transform using Ansys/Maxwell software for the numerical verification. Thereafter, the harmonic response module coupled the electromagnetic field with the structural field for the harmonic response analysis. Ultimately, the research results were imported into the harmonic acoustics module for a noise simulation analysis and two different-shape magnetic isolation bridges optimization schemes were proposed. The results suggested that both optimisation solutions could effectively reduce motor vibration and noise. Scheme one reduced the maximum noise by about 6.5% and scheme two by 10.4%. The analysis process and conclusion provide a theoretical basis for the vibration and noise analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motors with different integer slots.

Abstract:
The research deals with the problem of blowout equipment test for tightness before implementation. The indicated equipment includes a stem, a system of pipelines with valves and a control system. The classic test procedure requires a mobile pumping installation that provides a pressure of 35 MPa.The cost of such tests is rather high. For testing without a pump unit, a design of a device for increased tightness has been developed, including a sealing unit of the mouth from the main column and a piston unit for creating high pressure in the test volume. Generation of a high pressure occurs by lifting the piston with a winch, mounted on the well. Disadvantages of the previously proposed design of the device are as follows. There is a considerable friction between the steel moving parts of the sealing unit. Mostly these are the pairs of a plug and a cup, and a chuck and a cone. Tightness is provided by rubber ring sleeves. Exceedence of axial load on cones causes destruction of sealing rings. The authors of the article improved the design of the sealing unit in the following way: a ball thrust bearing was seated between the ends of the pressure plug and the bottom cup and as a result the sliding friction was replaced with sliding friction. On the outer surfaces of the opening cones in contact with clamping blades, it is proposed to paste a tissue antifriction material of type Nafthlene or equivalent. The friction coefficient in such pairs is next lower order than in steel to steel pairs. The computer model of the device has been created in the Solid Works environment. The computer researches of the loading process of components of the sealing unit in the simulation program based on the finite element method were performed. As a result of the research, recommended values of the axial force, required to create a screw pair of a stem and a plug for sufficient radial axial deformation of elastic cuffs with the simultaneous non-admission of their destruction were identified. Also, the design dimensions of the pressure cups of the device were optimized, namely, the mutual axial placement of the end face, which presses on the cone, and the tapered belt, compressing the sealing ring. The determination of these parameters by an experiment is a long and expensive process.

Abstract:
Digital displacement technology has the potential of revolutionizing the performance of hydraulic piston pumps and motors. Instead of connecting each cylinder chamber to high and low pressure in conjunction with the shaft position, two electrically-controlled on/off valves are connected to each chamber. This allows for individual cylinder chamber control. Variable displacement can be achieved by using different displacement strategies, like for example the full stroke, partial stroke, or sequential partial stroke displacement strategy. Each displacement strategy has its transient and steady-state characteristics. This paper provides a detailed simulation analysis of the transient and steady-state response of a digital displacement motor running with various displacement strategies. The non-linear digital displacement motor model is verified by experimental work on a radial piston motor.

Abstract:
An experimental-theoretical study has been carried out on high-pressure volumetric radial-piston pumps for diesel fuel injection systems. The dependence of the pump inducted flow rate on speed and load was investigated and the characteristic curve of the pump cooling-lubrication circuit was derived. The head-capacity curves were determined for different types of pumps at different revolution speeds and compared with the injector flow requirements in order to evaluate the pressure-control strategy efficiency. An insight into the ageing effects on the pump performance was also provided. Furthermore, the dynamic pump behavior was investigated, with specific reference to the flow-rate ripple at the delivery port. A general analytical expression has been derived for the volumetric efficiency. Furthermore, a specific procedure has been developed and applied to the experimental evaluation of the fuel leakages in pressure control valve (PCV) integrated pumps. Finally, the mechanical-hydraulic efficiency of the pump has experimentally been assessed as a function of head and speed in order to obtain a reliable evaluation of the pump shaft power and torque at different working conditions.
