Abstract:
Tubular plate lead acid deep cycle batteries are becoming more and more popular in Bangladesh to run electrical vehicles. A China made low cost charger is commonly used to charge these batteries which takes approximately 10 hours to full charge. In this paper, comparative results of charging EV tubular battery using conventional charger as well as Universal Battery Tester (UBT) have been reported. Total 8 different types of charging methods have been tested and different parameters like temperature rise, change of specific gravity of the electrolyte in the battery, variation of voltage and current, stored Ampere-Hour etc. have been observed. Thereby a comparatively quick charging method has been proposed which can ensure less temperature rise and therefore better efficiency and longer battery life.

Stein, Peter J. "The Demand for Advertising on Television: What Guides Firms' Decisions and How Their Choices Change During Highly Rated Telecasts." Thesis, Boston College, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/2345/bc-ir:106764.

Abstract:

Television ads have become as much a part of watching TV as the programs themselves. They are such a ubiquitous component of network and cable television that they have developed their own sub-culture; popular commercials get brought up in conversation, and many commercial actors become famous for portraying their respective characters. For how prevalent television advertising is and always has been, though, it’s amazing how little is known about advertiser demand. While many academics have conducted studies on the effects of advertising, little research has been steered towards understanding why advertisers choose to advertise when they do, especially within the context of advertising on TV. My research revolves around answering this question, as I attempt to establish patterns that can predict when firms will choose to advertise. By looking at data on past advertising trends, I try to find a sense of consistency across firms and across industries and then use that information to analyze and explain any observed changes in behavior during highly rated telecasts

Liu, Jinfang. "Application of native fluorescence tracers for quick quantification of milk changes caused by novel processing technologies." Doctoral thesis, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/458675.

Full text
Abstract:
This PhD dissertation is focused on using native milk fluorescence indicators to establish models for rapid evaluation and prediction of the effects of thermal (70-90 °C, 0-30 min) and ultra-high pressure homogenization (UHPH) processing (100-300 MPa, inlet temperature 22-83 °C) on bovine milk by means of front-face fluorescence spectroscopy (FFFS). Rapid quantification of retinol concentration, in both thermally and UHPH processed milk, was well modeled with an R2 of 0.92 and 0.90, and standard error of prediction of 0.025 mg/L and 0.016 mg/L, respectively. Retinol degradation originated by thermal treatments followed a first-order kinetic and the activation energy was estimated to be 52.26 kJ/mol. In both skim milk and whole milk, the tryptophan, dityrosine and Maillard intermediate compounds fluorescence could be modeled as functions of UHPH processing parameters. In skim milk, the dityrosine and Maillard compounds fluorescence intensities were only significantly affected by inlet temperature, while all the fluorescence indicators were significantly influenced by both pressure and temperature in UHPH treated whole milk. The changes in fluorescence revealed the milk protein modifications induced by UHPH, including whey protein denaturation, casein disintegration and protein aggregation. Particle size distribution showed that UHPH treatments could effectively reduce the particle size in whole milk. With pressure under 200 MPa, UHPH would not lead to significant protein aggregation in either skim or whole milk. On the contrary, a clear effect of UHPH treatment on milk protein structure modification could be observed above 200 MPa. These findings support and complement the conclusions from the fluorescence indicators about milk protein aggregation.

Wilsborn, Karl, and Kennet Heggdal. Ortopedteknisk plattform, 2020. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hj:diva-50002.

Full text
Abstract:
Aim: The aim of this thesis was to investigate the necessity of the quick change adapter for lower limb amputees.   Background: Quick Change Adapter is a relatively new product that both Otto Bock and Lindhe Xtend offers, but no research has been done on the area of its necessity yet.  According to the supplier´s websites the benefits of the product is that you with it easily can change prosthetic components without affecting the alignments or change socket.   Method: To investigate the necessity of the Quick Change Adapter, semi structural interviews of phenomenological characteristic were used.  A series of seven questions were compiled as a basis for the interview from the three focus areas: Function, participation and quality of Life. The thesis involved n=6 participants, of who n=3 was trantibial amputated and n=3 transfemoral amputated. Collected data was later analysed to find general themes and results.   Results: From the interviews these themes were exposed: Changing prosthetic feet/prosthetic knee joints, Donn and doff of pants, Socket fit, Transport and Biomechanics. Each theme presented a potential application area where the biggest needs seemed to be in Changing prosthetic feet/prosthetic knee joints, Socket fit and Transport.   Conclusions: The necessity of the Quick Change Adapter turned out to be very subjective, and depended more on the participant´s life then any general factors. Still there were some potential application areas detected for it.

Abstract:
AbstractIn the last decade, Information and Communication Technologies have revolutionized the tourism and hospitality sector. One of the latest innovations shaping new dynamics and fostering a remarkable behavioral change in the interaction between the service provider and the tourist is the employment of increasingly sophisticated chatbots. This work analyzes the most recent systems presented in the literature (since 2016) investigated via 12 research questions. The often appreciated quick evolution of such solutions is the primary outcome. However, such technological and financial fast-pace requires continuous investments, upskilling, and system innovation to tackle the eTourism challenges, which are shifting towards new dimensions.

Abstract:
AbstractAs I write this essay in late May 2020, the higher education press is blanketed by debate about the enduring changes brought on by COVID-19. Some maintain that the pandemic has already triggered disruptive changes, such as the quick move to online learning and variations in the academic calendar. They speculate that these shifts will endure after the crisis passes. Others predict a shift in the landscape of higher education. In countries with a private higher education sector that is highly dependent on tuition revenue, a substantial number may close, and the resulting landscape will be dominated by stronger, richer institutions. One estimate is that 20% of private institutions in the United States will close (Wescott 2020).

Abstract:
Abstract This work outlines a case study of charge-induced damage to SOI wafers that caused gate leakage in discrete transistors and static leakage in packaged integrated circuits (ICs). The consequential yield fallout occurred primarily at wafer center. Electrical, optical, and laser-based failure analysis techniques were used to characterize the damage and determine root cause of electrical failure. The failure mechanism was localized to a rinse step during chemical mechanical planarization (CMP). Furthermore, both current-voltage (IV) sweeps and characteristic spatial patterns generated by thermally-induced voltage alteration (TIVA) were used to capture the trends on both packaged ICs and SOI wafers for this type of charge-induced damage; this led to quick identification of another source of charge-induced damage that affected the post-fab yield.

Abstract:
Piezoelectric transducers are known to exhibit less hysterisis when driven with current or charge rather than voltage. Despite this advantage, such methods have found little practical application due to the poor low frequency response of present current and charge driver designs. In this paper, a current control piezoelectric amplifier is presented which can reduce hysteresis. Special circuits and a hybrid control algorithm realize the quick and precise positioning. Experimental results demonstrate that the amplifier can be used for dynamic and static applications. Low frequency bandwidths can be achieved.

Abstract:
Abstract It is shown that a focused ion beam (FIB) grounding technique can be used to alleviate charge buildup on samples that would otherwise charge in the electron beam to the point where analysis by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) was limited or impossible. FIB grounding alleviates the sample charging and permits AES analysis. The grounding technique is quick, easy and well understood as it has been used extensively for voltage-contrast analysis. The technique is shown to be useful for enabling analysis on electrically isolated conductive features as well as insulating samples.

Abstract:
The ability to achieve high surface areas with nanomaterials brought several advancements in energy storage devices and their applications in different industries. Supercapacitors, a new generation of energy storage devises, have quick charge and discharge abilities, and hold as much energy as batteries and other chemical storage devices. The present study focuses on the effects of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) inclusions in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) electrolytes for the improved capacitance values, which may affect the lifetime, charge holding, and charging and discharging rates of the graphene nanoflake-based supercapacitors. In this research, various supercapacitors were constructed using the reduced graphene oxide nanoflakes, PVA and PVA incorporated with CNTs, and the best candidates were selected for the future considerations. The test results showed that the CNT concentrations of 0.1–1.0wt% in PVA enhanced the capacitance (charge holding capacity) and reduced the internal resistance of the electrolytes significantly. This study may open up new possibilities for the supercapacitors and other energy storage devices currently under developments.

Abstract:
Climate change is a growing concern for forests across Minnesota. Foresters, land managers, and landowners are considering how to prepare for future conditions and how to evaluate risks for particular sites. This field guide is designed as a quick reference on climate change for northern Minnesota forests. The intent is to highlight key information that can be used during field visits or forest planning. We hope that this guide will help foresters consider climate change risks together with local site characteristics, and also that it will help people design adaptation actions that help meet management goals.

Orning, Tanja. Professional identities in progress – developing personal artistic trajectories. Norges Musikkhøgskole, August 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.22501/nmh-ar.544616.

Full text
Abstract:
We have seen drastic changes in the music profession during the last 20 years, and consequently an increase of new professional opportunities, roles and identities. We can see elements of a collective identity in classically trained musicians who from childhood have been introduced to centuries old, institutionalized traditions around the performers’ role and the work-concept. Respect for the composer and his work can lead to a fear of failure and a perfectionist value system that permeates the classical music. We have to question whether music education has become a ready-made prototype of certain trajectories, with a predictable outcome represented by more or less generic types of musicians who interchangeably are able play the same, limited canonized repertoire, in more or less the same way. Where is the resistance and obstacles, the detours and the unique and fearless individual choices? It is a paradox that within the traditional master-student model, the student is told how to think, play and relate to established truths, while a sustainable musical career is based upon questioning the very same things. A fundamental principle of an independent musical career is to develop a capacity for critical reflection and a healthy opposition towards uncontested truths. However, the unison demands for modernization of institutions and their role cannot be solved with a quick fix, we must look at who we are and who we have been to look at who we can become. Central here is the question of how the music students perceive their own identity and role. To make the leap from a traditional instrumentalist role to an artist /curator role requires commitment in an entirely different way. In this article, I will examine question of identity - how identity may be constituted through musical and educational experiences. The article will discuss why identity work is a key area in the development of a sustainable music career and it will investigate how we can approach this and suggest some possible ways in this work. We shall see how identity work can be about unfolding possible future selves (Marcus & Nurius, 1986), develop and evolve one’s own personal journey and narrative. Central is how identity develops linguistically by seeing other possibilities: "identity is formed out of the discourses - in the broadest sense - that are available to us ..." (Ruud, 2013). The question is: How can higher music education (HME) facilitate students in their identity work in the process of constructing their professional identities? I draw on my own experience as a classically educated musician in the discussion.
