Abstract:
Abstract We conducted an idiographic analysis to examine the effect of survey burden, measured by the length of the most recent questionnaire, or number of survey invitations (survey frequency) in a one-year period preceding a new survey, on the response probability to a new survey in a probability-based Internet panel. The individual response process was modeled by a latent Markov chain with questionnaire length and survey frequency as explanatory variables. The individual estimates were obtained using a Monte Carlo based method and then pooled to derive estimates of the overall relationships and to identify specific subgroups whose responses were more likely to be impacted by questionnaire length or survey frequency. The results show an overall positive relationship between questionnaire length and response probability, and no significant relationship between survey frequency and response probability. Further analysis showed that longer questionnaires were more likely to be associated with decreased response rates among racial/ethnic minorities and introverted participants. Frequent surveys were more likely to be associated with decreased response rates among participants with a large household. We discuss the implications for panel management and advocate targeted interventions for the small subgroups whose response probability may be negatively impacted by longer questionnaires or frequent surveys.

Abstract:
Likert-style questionnaires and surveys are commonly used tools for research. To alleviate survey-fatigue, researchers have explored gamification routes to increase engagement and lower drop-outs. However, these attempts still rely on direct use of questionnaire text and focus on creating engagement around the actual activity and do not fully alleviate the challenges of filling survey. In this paper, we explore an alternative approach involving the use of a serious game to capture user responses through in-game activities rather than direct questions. We chose the Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ) and explored the design challenges of creating a serious game which deploys a sub-sample of the FCQ questions as four mini-game activities. The player actions and decisions are used to compute a result which is compared with their FCQ responses. We demonstrate the method to evaluate the equivalence of game results to the questionnaire responses. We discuss how future serious games can be designed and evaluated to generate similar outcomes while avoiding potential pitfalls through design and analysis.

Abstract:
Introduction: Over the years, surveys have become powerful tools for assessing a wide range of outcomes among patients. Healthcare managers and professionals now consider patient satisfaction as an outcome by itself. This study aims to determine if results of a patient satisfaction survey are affected by the manner by which the survey instrument is administered. Materials and Methods: A patient satisfaction survey was conducted from May 2006 to October 2007 in a tertiary level acute care facility. All patients admitted to the observation unit during the study period were invited to participate. Using a contextualised version of the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) Hospital Survey, data was collected through either a phone interview, face to face interview or self-administered questionnaire. Each of these survey modes was administered during 3 different phases within the study period. Results: Eight hundred thirty-two (832) patients were included in the survey. Based on results of univariate analysis, out of the 18 questions, responses to 11 (61.1%) were related to survey mode. Face-to- face interview resulted in the greatest proportion of socially desirable responses (72.7%), while phone interview yielded the highest proportion of socially undesirable responses (63.3%). After controlling for possible confounders, logistic regression results showed that responses to 55.6% of the questions were affected by survey mode. Variations in response between phone interview and self-administered questionnaire accounted for 87.5% of the observed differences. Conclusions: Researchers must be aware that the choice of survey method has serious implications on results of patient satisfaction surveys. Key words: Methods, Patient satisfaction, Surveys

The purpose of this study was to compare participant responses to a questionnaire delivered via the Internet with data collected using a traditional paper and pencil format distributed via postal mail. Athletes (N = 214, mean age 26.53 years) representing 18 sports from the New Zealand Academy of Sport were randomly assigned into two groups and completed the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ; Raedeke & Smith, 2001). There was a noticeable trend (p = .07, two-tailed) toward a better response rate in the online group (57.07%) compared with the postal group (46.63%). Furthermore, online questionnaires were returned faster and contained fewer missing responses. A series of nested, multigroup confirmatory factor analyses indicated that there were no significant group differences in the factor structure or latent mean structures of the ABQ.

Abstract:
The Pregnancy and Birth Survey of the Fukushima Health Management Survey is a questionnaire survey that has been conducted annually since 2011 in Fukushima Prefecture. Since 2016, the survey has been available online as well as in paper form. This study aimed to determine whether making the survey available online improved response rates and to identify the characteristics of paper and online survey respondents and their results. Using LimeSurvey, we constructed an online survey environment that enabled responses via computer or mobile device. Respondents could choose whether to respond on paper or online. The response rate for the 2016 survey was 51.8%, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. Of these responses, 15.8% were made online. Online respondents were mostly primiparous. Further, while there was no difference in the percentage of respondents who provided free responses, the amount written was higher in paper surveys than in online surveys. The combination of paper and online surveys increased convenience for respondents and contributed to improved response rates. In addition, paper surveys were superior in terms of allowing respondents to express their feelings and opinions.

Abstract:
In anticipating a high completion rate for web surveys, researchers must be attentive to the design features, two of which are the forced responses (i.e., 100%-, 50%, or 0%-forced) and the questionnaire item display (i.e., paging or scrolling). Moreover, the respondents’ favorable attitude towards questionnaires is a key factor driving them to complete the questionnaires. However, no studies have examined the effects of these three variables on web survey completion rates. This research thus attempts to fill this gap. Using a quasi-experiment, we obtained 401 responses to six (i.e., 3 levels of forced responses x 2 display styles) comparable online questionnaires with identical contents. The analysis confirmed the statistically significant effects of the forced responses, the item display and the subjects’ attitudes toward questionnaires on completion rates. In addition to extending theoretical insights into the factors leading to a web survey’s completion rates, practical recommendations are suggested based on the findings.

Abstract:
Noncognitive skills (e.g., persistence and self-control) are typically measured using self-reported questionnaires in which respondents rate their own skills. In many applications—including program evaluation and school accountability systems—such reports are assumed to measure only the skill of interest. However, self-reports might also capture other dimensions aside from the skill, such as aspects of a respondent’s situation, which could include incentives and the conditions in which they complete the questionnaire. To explore this possibility, this study conducted 2 experiments to estimate the extent to which survey administration conditions can affect student responses on noncognitive skill questionnaires. The first experiment tested whether providing information about the importance of noncognitive skills to students directly affects their responses, and the second experiment tested whether incentives tied to performance on another task indirectly affect responses. Both experiments suggest that self-reports of noncognitive skills are sensitive to survey conditions. The effects of the conditions are relatively large compared with those found in the program evaluation literature, ranging from 0.05 to 0.11 SDs. These findings suggest that the effects of interventions or other social policies on self-reported noncognitive skills should be interpreted with caution.

Abstract:
Prader–Willi Syndrome Association (USA) monitors the ongoing health and welfare of individuals with Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS) through active communication with members by membership surveys and data registries. Thromboembolism and blood clots have emerged in clinical studies as significant risk factors for injury and death in PWS. A 66-item questionnaire was developed by a panel of PWS medical and scientific experts, with input from Prader–Willi Syndrome Association (USA) leadership, so as to probe their membership on the frequency, risk, and protective factors for venous thromboembolism, pulmonary embolism, and related findings. The characteristics of those with and without a reported history of blood clots and related health factors were tabulated and analyzed. Responses were obtained for 1067 individuals with PWS (554 females and 513 males), and 38 (23 females and 15 males) had a history of blood clots. The individuals with clots did not differ by gender, but were significantly older 32.8 ± 15 years vs 20.4 ± 13 years, and were more likely to have a reported history of obesity (76%), edema (59%), hypertension (24%), vasculitis (33%), and family history of blood clots (33%) than those without clots. Growth hormone treatment was more common in individuals without clots. The risk factors for thromboembolism in PWS overlap those commonly observed for the general population.

Abstract:
Telephone interviews were used to assess both the prevalence of psychic distress among women during the past 12 months and the willingness of respondents to participate in a study of how women employ self-change efforts to cope with emotional distress. A second purpose of this research was to demonstrate the general effectiveness of telephone surveys in assessing psychological distress. The major findings indicated that the experience of having been nervous or upset was not uncommon: 64% of the 140 respondents indicated some distress, while 31% had been distressed for more than just a couple of days; also, the majority of distressed women were willing to complete an initial questionnaire (81%), a personal interview (53%), and/or follow-up questionnaires (76%). Respondents who reported greater distress were more willing to participate in the study than were respondents who reported less distress. These findings agree with those of a national household interview survey of psychological distress. Our results suggest that telephone surveys represent an effective alternative method for collecting epidemiological data on the sensitive topic of emotional distress.

Abstract:
Online surveys are fast becoming the favourite tools of researchers due to various advantages they offer like ease of administration, reduced survey cost and real time data analysis. However they also have their drawbacks like any survey method; some of them being lack of population representativeness due to digital divide, consideration of the survey as spam eliciting low responses and technical glitches. Survey errors are generally classified in to two groups of Sampling & non-Sampling errors. Respondent errors, one of the most widely studied non- Sampling errors consist of Primacy and recency effects. The response order effects both Primacy and Recency have not been studied in online surveys according to accessible literatures; though their effect in oral and paper -pencil surveys are well documented. The existence of respondent errors in online surveys may vary vastly from other survey methods due to the respondent characteristics like higher education levels, control on the response setting and time and independence in response in the absence of a survey administrator. Using an experimental design we examined and provided preliminary evidence for response order effect (Primacy effect) in online surveys. We have also explored the impact of question complexity and questionnaire length on response order effects. The results indicate the existence of response order effects in online surveys, much like the traditional methods. The result also indicates the exacerbation of response errors due to question complexity and questionnaire length. Our study may offer valid insights and ideas to survey researchers, who use online survey tools, to reduce response order effects and thereby make their survey results more accurate.

AimAs part of a program of work to develop an educational strategy and implementation plan for the World Stroke Organization, we conducted a survey of World Stroke Organization members (health professionals, laypersons (Stroke Support Organizations)) to identify their potential educational needs.MethodsWe developed a questionnaire to identify priority educational needs in consultation with the World Stroke Organization Education Committee. The World Stroke Organization invited all individual members and associated Stroke Support Organizations to complete the questionnaire via a web-based survey. Survey responses were supplemented by questionnaires emailed directly to key persons in Stroke Support Organizations and information from semi-structured telephone interviews, where necessary. The questionnaire asked respondents to prioritize topics in diagnosis, management of acute stroke, stroke care services, stroke rehabilitation, and stroke prevention. Free-text responses were assessed with word cloud.ResultsThe online survey was completed by 264 respondents from 60 countries; 19.1% were from low- and middle-income countries, 59% were stroke specialist physicians, 28% allied health professionals or nurses, 9% Stroke Support Organizations, 4% general physicians. Fifteen Stroke Support Organizations from 11 countries responded to the emailed survey. Seven Stroke Support Organizations' members were interviewed by telephone; one was interviewed in-person. We highlight the two highest priority topics in each of the five questionnaire domains.ConclusionThe 10 priority topics were all applicable in a low- or middle-income setting: setting up and delivering stroke diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention services, and emphasized the most basic elements of care. The survey participants have identified a number of key topics that merit inclusion in stroke teaching materials and courses, especially those aimed at practitioners working in resource-limited settings.

Objectives: Literature suggests that college (ie, post-secondary) students experience food insecurity (FI) at alarming rates. However, the commonly used FI questionnaires have undergone limited evaluations for accuracy in this sub-population. The objective of this exploratory study was to evaluate if FI estimates among college students differ by survey distribution modality. Methods: A test-retest study was conducted from October to December 2017. A random sample of undergraduate students (N = 343) participated in an online survey. After completing the survey, a random sample of these students (N = 66; 29%) completed the same items in paper-and-pencil format. Responses were compared with percent agreement and kappa (κ) coefficients. Results: Students were less likely to affirm each item on paper-and-pencil questionnaires. Percent agreement ranged from 71.2% to 96.9% across items, and κ coefficients ranged from poor to fair. FI prevalence differed by 15% between online and paper-and-pencil assessments (40.9% and 25.8%, respectively). Percent agreement for FI categorization was 75.8% and κ=0.47. Conclusions: Differing survey modalities resulted in varying FI classifications in a sample of under-graduate students. Though limited by size and representativeness, this supports the need for further testing of FI surveys, as accurate FI estimates are essential to serving college students.

Abstract:
In today’s globalized world the socio-economic role of cities is decisive, therefore they have become one of the most important scenes where responses are given to the complex challenges facing our society. For a city to be successful and competitive, it is necessary to strengthen its flexible resistance, in other words, its resilience. For this purpose, efficient steps could be taken, benefiting from the results of digitization and Industry 4.0, by using smart applications and developments. Nowadays, smart city development and the application of smart/intelligent technologies are gaining an increasing focus in the development of a city. In our study we present the partial results of a primary quantitative research that we conducted in 2019 among the inhabitants of the City of Miskolc, in the age group of 20-64 years. With the help of a questionnaire survey, we were looking for the main focus points that should be given priority in urban smart developments according to the inhabitants’ opinion. Currently, Miskolc is at a medium level in terms of available smart cities technologies – in the inhabitants’ view. According to the opinion of the inhabitants of Miskolc it would be of outstanding importance to introduce smart solutions in the health care, education, safety and fire protection, environmental protection and air pollution.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper was to determine (1) the degree of students' motivation in English language learning and (2) the dominating motive between instrumental and integrative motivation in English language learning. This study was carried out at SMAN 1 Palopo. Mixed technique, which is mostly quantitative, was used, with a survey using an online Likert scale questionnaire administered to 31 respondents and five of them interviewed. The data has been evaluated quantitatively and statistically using the paired sample t-test and qualitative description. The questionnaire was examined according to the proportion of each response. To convert questionnaire data into percentages, the researcher multiplied the number of occurrences by 100 percent and then divided by the total number of respondents. The findings of this study reveal that SMAN 1 Palopo students have strong instrumental and integrative motivation, with a mean score of 4.12, when it comes to studying English. According to the results of the questionnaire survey, students' responses of agreement and strong agreement predominated, whereas responses of disagreement and severe disagreement did not occur considerably. The overall findings of the study indicate that students' English-learning motivation is mostly integrative. This indicates that students study English based on their initiative and desire to grasp and learn more about English culture.

Questionnaire responses were obtained from 146 high-school cheerleaders. The questionnaire was designed to evaluate typical vocal use, vocal history, and the incidence and nature of acute dysphonic episodes related to cheerleading. Many high-school cheerleaders reported frequent instances of acute aphonia, aphonic syllables, dysphonia, and pitch breaks. Abnormal voice characteristics often persisted for many hours following completion of the cheerleading event. Both "tired voice" and "sore throat" were experienced more frequently during evenings following a cheerleading event than during those evenings not preceded by cheerleading.

Abstract:
User satisfaction with a technology is an essential usability metric. Unlike efficiency and effectiveness, which are generally recorded during use, satisfaction is often measured subsequently using questionnaires, such as the modified version of the system usability scale (MSUS). This makes satisfaction the most costly usability measure to acquire in large-scale testing. To mitigate this cost, we compared the performance of a four-button kiosk with a standard SUS instrument for measuring satisfaction. Three hundred and fifty four demographically diverse subjects used the kiosk and completed a SUS questionnaire immediately after using one of two different alternative technologies. Kiosk ratings took only 11.43 ( sd = 7.30) seconds on average to collect, much faster than 1200 seconds on average for the SUS. Kiosk ratings and MSUS scores were strongly correlated ( r = 0.62, p < .005), showing the same pattern of differences between the tested technologies. However, the index of dispersion for kiosk ratings was 71.74% larger than for MSUS scores. We conclude that satisfaction kiosks are a cost-effective alternative for measuring satisfaction in usability studies with large sample sizes.

Abstract:
This paper aims to present and discuss the results of a survey study concerning the notion of SZACUNEK (“esteem”). The survey was conducted in a group of students from Lublin universities: Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Medical University of Lublin and Lublin University of Technology. The participants of the study included male and female students pursuing both STEM and liberal arts degrees. The present paper is situated within the research on the language of values, which has its framework in the context of the five-volume Leksykon aksjologiczny Słowian i ich sąsiadów (“Axiological Lexicon of Slavs and Their Neighbours”) published under the scholarly and editorial direction of Jerzy Bartmiński as part of the international conference EUROJOS. The analyses discussed by the author were carried out in accordance with the methodological approach adopted in the report Język – wartości – polityka. Zmiany rozumienia nazw wartości w okresie transformacji ustrojowej w Polsce (“Language, Values, Politics. Evolution of the Understanding of Names of Values during the System Transformation in Poland”) published under the direction of Jerzy Bartmiński. The survey study made use of the Axiological Dictionary Questionnaire. All respondents were obligatorily asked the following question: “What – in your view – constitutes the essence of esteem?”. The analysis and discussion of questionnaire results was based on 100 responses (N) and 142 “mini-responses” (W). This allowed to distinguish 28 descriptors (D), 15 of which had only single occurrences. Descriptor characteristics (along with the corresponding phrases) were ordered according to the number of occurrences and assigned to appropriate aspects. Six aspects characteristic for the students’ view of ESTEEM were distinguished.

Abstract:
Background: The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) aims to measure physical activity consistency throughout the world. It has been translated into many languages and its validity has been examined worldwide. However, the IPAQ has not been translated into Hebrew and the psychometric properties of the Hebrew version have yet to be evaluated. Material/Methods: The current study assessed the test-retest reliability of the short IPAQ in Hebrew (IPAQ-S-H) and its validity among college students. Intra-class correlation coefficients were computed to assess reliability, and survey responses were compared to VO2max to determine concurrent validity. Results: The IPAQ-S-H’s test-retest reliability was primarily high, particularly for total physical activity (ICC = 0.90; 95%CI = 0.87-0.93). While agreement for the physical activity components of the survey was higher (ICCs: 0.58-0.79), agreement for sitting time was lower (ICC = 0.39; 95% =0.25-0.52). When comparing the survey scores to VO2max, total physical activity and vigorous intensity activity were significantly correlated with maximal oxygen uptake (Pearson’s r = 0.43 and 0.40, respectively), but not with other survey components. Conclusions: The IPAQ-S-H primarily exhibits moderate reliability and validity, which are comparable psychometric properties to other IPAQ validation studies. Further validation is warranted among more representative samples utilizing objective monitoring to determine criterion validity.

Abstract:
We estimate the difference in the chance of giving a socially undesirable response, one that violates social norms, by administration mode (online or in person) for a self-administered questionnaire (SAQ). We do this by evaluating open-ended responses to a photographic stimulus designed to generate undesirable responses. We test five variables: socially undesirable responses generally, blatant stereotyping, distaste, inappropriate descriptors, and the number of words in the response. The results show that, contrary to expectations, online SAQs are not more likely to produce socially undesirable responses generally, but online responses are less likely to contain blatant stereotyping. Responses from the online SAQs were longer, suggesting that respondents from the paper-and-pencil SAQs may have used stereotypes to bypass writing lengthy responses. The longer responses of online respondents enabled them to avoid stereotyping, thereby biasing their responses in an alternate way.

Abstract:
The study aims to evaluate the various techniques used to perform circumcision in Saudi Arabia. In September 2018, this cross-sectional survey was performed. A questionnaire was sent to all pediatric surgery units across the Kingdom. The responses to the questionnaire were analyzed and categorized. A total of 176 questionnaires were send and more than half (56.3%) of the practitioners filled the questioners, 62 (63%) were consultants, 19 (19%) were specialists and 19 (19%) were trainee in pediatric surgery fellowship program. Circumcisions were performed in Maternity and Children hospitals (32.3%), tertiary hospitals (32.3%), private hospitals (16%) and in general or academic hospitals (19%). The most commonly used method for circumcision was Gomco clamp (n = 39; 39.6%) followed by Plastibell (n = 30; 30%) and bone cutter (n = 25; 25.4%). The optimal time for circumcision was in neonatal period. Eighty-six percent of the surgeons agree that 2.5 to 5 kg is the optimal weight for the baby to do circumcision. In Saudi Arabia circumcision is a religious practice done for every Muslim male. It should be done by trained medical practitioner and circumcision done by non-medical personal should be avoided. Circumcision should be performed in the neonatal period and attention should be given to analgesia.

Abstract:
Background and Objectives: The extensive spread of the COVID-19 pandemic is a major concern among the healthcare profession. The study aims to assess the perception and knowledge about COVID 19 outbreak among various college going medical students Materials and Methods: A total of 1141 responders completed a questionnaire- based survey on the perception and knowledge about COVID 19 outbreak among various college going medical students. Data collection and the distribution of responses was presented as frequencies and percentages. Data was analyzed using convenient sampling method. Based on the percentage of correct responses descriptive statistics were performed for all groups and subgroups and for the percentage of correct responses individual pair wise comparisons were done using the median test. Results: 90% of the responders provided correct answers indicating adequate overall awareness for all subgroups. More than 75% of the responders were aware of the various symptoms and mode of transmission of COVID 19. However, only 26% of the responders were unaware about the spread of COVID 19 infection, 93% responders know about the primary actions taken after getting infected with COVID 19. Almost all (95%) of our responders were aware of the preferred method for hand hygiene. Conclusion: This study showed good knowledge of COVID-19 among 1136 various college going medical students with an overall knowledge score of more than 90%. The results of the study helped us to conclude that students showed extensive knowledge about general information of COVID-19 like its route of transmission, people at high risk symptoms and signs, and complications. Hopefully, conducting periodic webinars could be a useful tool to create more awareness in this regard for all healthcare students and professionals.

Abstract:
Background The Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire is a validated disease-specific instrument to measure the impact of lymphoedema on patients’ lives. In this study, we tested its psychometric properties and validated the use of the questionnaire in its Dutch translation. Methods We obtained the answers to a standardised questionnaire, including Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire and Short-Form (36) Health Survey, twice at an interval of 2 weeks in 60 patients with lower limb lymphoedema. Feasibility was tested on the basis of missing responses and response distribution. Structure was studied using factor analysis. The reliability of the Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire was assessed using Crohnbach’s α and test-retest reliability. Construct validity was tested by correlating Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire scores with the Short-Form (36) Health Survey scores. Results The response rate was 88.2%. One of the 22 items missed >10% of responses; another showed a borderline ceiling effect. Internal consistency was good and test-retest reliability was excellent. The Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire correlated well with the physical component of the Short-Form (36) Health Survey and moderately with the mental component, suggesting that its construct validity was good. Conclusion The Dutch Lymphoedema Quality-of-Life Questionnaire can be used for health-related quality-of-life research in lower limb lymphoedema patients.

Abstract:
Previous qualitative research has identified a number of factors which influence patient satisfaction with orthopedic outpatient clinic visits. To further evaluate these factors, the authors initially generated a number of items or statements representing these factors. This cohort of items was then subjected to analysis by an expert group to assess which 3 items best represented each factor. These items formed the basis of a draft survey which was then administered to 323 orthopedic outpatients to assess these factors as characteristics of patient satisfaction. Items and factors were also assessed against 2 global measures of patient satisfaction. One hundred and one survey responses were returned and subjected to factorial analysis. Results indicated that factors of trust, empathy, and relatedness were not distinguishable and subsequently combined to represent a single factor, the therapeutic relationship. A final 5-factor model is proposed incorporating 3 interpersonal factors (communication, expectation, therapeutic relationship) and 2 environmental factors (clinic wait time, clinical contact time). The factors identified by this study should be considered in surveys evaluating patient satisfaction with orthopedic outpatient services.

Abstract:
Paired interviews are used to evaluate whether a questionnaire functions properly for both the target respondent and an alternate respondent (proxy). We developed a new application of this tool to evaluate whether a Patient Experience of Care Survey (PECS) for long-term care hospitals (LTCHs) and inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) functioned acceptably for patients and their family members. Frequently, patients in LTCHs and IRFs cannot fully recall their care experience and are often unable to complete surveys because of cognitive or physical limitations. For this project, researchers conducted interviews with 20 paired respondents: a patient and a proxy. Results revealed that the patient and their proxy went through similar response strategies and answered questions similarly to each other a majority of the time. We concluded that the questionnaires function acceptably for patients and proxies.

Aims and MethodWe aimed to find out how patients on clozapine felt about clozapine treatment. A structured questionnaire was given to 1284 consecutive patients attending 27 clozapine clinics in the UK.ResultsThe response rate was 44.4% (570 forms returned). This cohort of responders to the questionnaire consisted, for the most part, of Caucasian males who had been taking clozapine for more than 2 years. Respondents expressed largely favourable views on clozapine treatment. For example, 86.1% claimed to feel better on clozapine and 88.6% claimed to prefer to remain on clozapine than to change to another drug. Many patients stated that they disliked having to undergo blood testing, but a large majority (87.0%) felt that the advantages of clozapine outweighed disadvantages. All other responses supported this overall favourable view of clozapine therapy.Clinical ImplicationsPatients stabilised on clozapine are largely content with their treatment. These results suggest that clozapine is effective as assessed by patients' own standards and that adherence to therapy is likely to be good.

Abstract:
This study investigated pharmacists’ and pharmacy assistants’ current weight management recommendations to consumers across Australian community pharmacies using a mailed questionnaire. Two questionnaires were developed, one for pharmacists and one for pharmacy assistants, each divided into five sections. One pharmacist and pharmacy assistant questionnaire were mailed in November 2011 to a systematic sample of 3000 pharmacies across Australia for one pharmacist and pharmacy assistant each to complete. A total of 537 pharmacist and 403 pharmacy assistant responses, from 880 different pharmacies, were received. Overall 94.5% (n = 832/880) of associated pharmacies stocked weight loss products and 48.2% (n = 424/880) offered a weight management program. Both pharmacists and pharmacy assistants felt that the development of pharmacy-specific educational resources and additional training would help improve their ability to provide weight management services. Australian pharmacists and pharmacy assistants currently appear to be providing weight management services to consumers; however, not all their recommendations are evidence based. The need for additional training for pharmacy staff in areas identified as lacking and the development of pharmacy weight management educational resources needs to be addressed.

Abstract:
AbstractEffortful control is thought to foster adaptive action in defensive contexts and may thereby protect individuals against anxious inhibition and focus on their own distress. We examined if effortful control predicted adolescents' perceived arousal, unpleasantness, and control as well as autonomic (heart rate [HR]) and hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis (cortisol) responses during social stress. The data came from a focus sample of the Tracking Adolescents' Individual Lives Survey, a prospective population study of Dutch adolescents (N = 715, 50.9% girls; mean age = 16.11, SD = 0.59), who participated in a laboratory session including a social stress task (public speaking and mental arithmetic). Perceived and physiological stress measures were assessed before, during, and after the social stress task. Effortful control was measured using various questionnaires and informants, as well as by means of a reaction time (RT) task assessing response inhibition. Overall, adolescents with high questionnaire-based effortful control tended to feel more relaxed, pleasant, and in control during the laboratory session than adolescents with lower levels of control and had stronger HR responses to the stress test. Adolescent girls with high inhibitory control as measured by the RT task also had strong HR responses, but inhibitory control was associated with high rather than low perceived arousal. Our results suggest that both questionnaire and RT measures of effortful control predict strong HR responses to challenging situations, but associational patterns diverge with regard to perceived stress measures.

Abstract:
Purpose Children who stutter (CWS) face communication difficulties in school activities and at home. Although the importance of receiving support from their surroundings has been documented, few studies have investigated potential requests of CWS from their surroundings. This study aimed to elucidate such requests. Method A total of 43 school-age children and 25 adolescents who stutter completed a free-description questionnaire, including questions such as “what you want your classmates/your classroom teacher/your family to do about your stuttering?” Their descriptions were summarized and categorized based on similarity. Results The results indicate that 90.6% of the participants had more than one request for their classmates, classroom teacher, or family. A total of 197 items were extracted and categorized into seven themes. In particular, the responses included “listen attentively,” “treat us naturally,” and “make arrangements.” While participants tended to hope for classmates or family to “listen attentively” and “treat us naturally,” the request to “make arrangements” was higher for their teacher. Their potential requests varied by age: While school-age CWS wanted people around them to “listen carefully,” the hope of adolescents who stutter was “treat us naturally.” Conclusions The various potential requests of CWS were categorized, and the responses shed light on the importance of increasing knowledge of stuttering. The difference between the requests could reflect psychosocial differences between school-age children and adolescents who stutter. In addition, social interaction among peers is more developed in adolescents, and they could harbor fear of being excluded within their community.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Extremity rhabdomyosarcoma differs from other soft tissue sarcomas, being highly sensitive to chemotherapy and radiotherapy and having a high rate of metastasis to lymph nodes. Therefore, the treatment modality differs from that of other soft tissue sarcomas. The purpose of this study was to conduct a longitudinal questionnaire survey of orthopedic oncologists in charge of surgical treatment for extremity rhabdomyosarcoma in Japan to determine whether the treatment modality chosen here is in line with the international and national treatment ones. Methods Questionnaire surveys were conducted in 2012 and 2019 to orthopedic oncologists of Japanese Orthopaedic Association and Japanese Musculoskeletal Oncology Group. Results Responses were obtained from 80 facilities and 76 facilities, respectively. Fewer than 50% of the facilities treated one or more patients a year in both years. Many facilities first performed diagnostic biopsy, but most did not perform pretreatment re-excision. The number of facilities that provided radiotherapy in addition to surgery increased significantly from 2012 to 2019 (P = 0.028), but it was still 21% in 2019. The number of facilities performing excision and lymph node dissection was 19% in both 2012 and 2019, which was a very low result without improvement. The departments responsible for follow-up have been changed to pediatrics and orthopedic oncology in tandem (P = 0.0004). Conclusions Radiotherapy and pathological evaluation of lymph nodes are important for improving the prognosis of patients with extremity rhabdomyosarcoma. It is necessary to continue and develop more efficient educational activities on the appropriate medical treatment modalities for extremity RMS.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to identify prevalence rates of medical problems among flautists. The Flute Health Survey (FHS), a questionnaire with items regarding musculoskeletal and nonmusculoskeletal problems, was distributed at the 1999 National Flute Association annual meeting (n = 40). This questionnaire was pilot tested at the 1999 Texas Flute Festival, which is hosted by the Texas Flute Society. The University of North Texas has posted on the Internet a similar questionnaire regarding the medical problems of all musicians. Responses from the University of North Texas Musician Health Survey (UNT-MHS) were filtered to include only those respondents who denoted flute as their primary instruments (n = 328). Data sets from both surveys were then processed using comparative statistics. Findings show that there was no significant difference between the demographics of the two populations. Only one musculoskeletal site, the left hand, was found to be statistically significant between the two groups. Four nonmusculoskeletal items, depression, earache, headache, and sleep disturbances, were found to be different between the two groups. The overall findings of this comparison show that there are many medical problems facing the flute playing community. Further investigation and observations of this population are necessary.

Abstract:
Background Being able to generalize research findings to a broader population outside of the study sample is an important goal in surveys on the internet. We conducted a nationwide, cross-sectional, web-based survey with vignettes illustrating different levels of patient involvement to investigate men’s preferences regarding participation in health care decision-making. Following randomization into vignette variants, we distributed the survey among men aged 45 to 70 years through the state-authorized digital mailbox provided by the Danish authorities for secure communication with citizens. Objective This study aimed to investigate the sociodemographic representativeness of our sample of men obtained in a nationwide web-based survey using the digital mailbox. Methods Response rate estimates were established, and comparisons were made between responders and nonresponders in terms of age profiles (eg, average age) and municipality-level information on sociodemographic characteristics. Results Among 22,288 men invited during two waves, a total of 6756 (30.31%) participants responded to the survey. In adjusted analyses, responders’ characteristics mostly resembled those of nonresponders. Response rates, however, were significantly higher in older men (odds ratio [OR] 2.83 for responses among those aged 65-70 years compared with those aged 45-49 years, 95% CI 2.58-3.11; P<.001) and in rural areas (OR 1.10 compared with urban areas, 95% CI 1.03-1.18; P=.005). Furthermore, response rates appeared lower in areas with a higher tax base (OR 0.89 in the highest tertile, 95% CI 0.81-0.98; P=.02). Conclusions Overall, the general population of men aged 45 to 70 years was represented very well by the responders to our web-based survey. However, the imbalances identified highlight the importance of supplementing survey findings with studies of the representativeness of other characteristics of the sample like trait and preference features, so that proper statistical corrections can be made in upcoming analyses of survey responses whenever needed.

Abstract:
AimsThe principal aim of this multicentre, international cohort study is to explore the safety concerns of clinicians when performing urodynamic studies (UDS) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study will also assess provider preference on personal protective equipment (PPE) during UDS and awareness of relevant international guidelines. The outcome is to offer a practical means of reducing the risk of aerosol transmis-sion during UDS, to include a protocol for screening patients, and to consider safer methods of inducing urethral leak-point pressure. MethodsA 14-point, multiple-response, online questionnaire was designed through Survey Monkey. This was distributed to healthcare workers involved in UDS via email, WhatsApp, and Twitter. This included, of varying experience; urologists, urogynaecologists, clinical nurse specialists, and clinical scientists across the United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Australia, Europe, and Middle-East.ResultsThe study was conducted over two weeks and there were 104 responses to the survey. The majority of respondents were consultants (60%) and 73% of respondents performed UDS regularly. There were 56.7% of respondents who felt that UDS was safe to be re-instated and there were 52.8% who did not feel coughing was safe during the procedure. At the time of the survey, 83.5% were unaware of any national or international urological guidelines on the best practice for urodynamics during this era and 52.8% of clinicians stated they would wear PPE during UDS if it were reinstated. ConclusionThe majority of respondents felt safe to reinstate UDS; however, they felt more official guidance and recommendation is needed. Our proposed protocol can provide a safe and practical approach that keeps healthcare workers and patients safe.

Abstract The paper presents results of three socio-acoustic surveys conducted in an interval of twelve years, between 2001 and 2013, in a large Romanian city, Cluj-Napoca. The purpose of the surveys was to assess the awareness of residents on urban noise and the extent to which the noise environment affects their everyday life, behavior and health. The surveys were conducted in 2001, 2009 and 2013. The questionnaire used in the first survey had 16 questions and it was verified prior to study through a pilot survey, being corrected and improved. For the second and the third study, the questionnaire was enriched with eight more questions, regarding essentially the description of the residential area, criteria for its selection and also awareness about the noise map of the city. The analysis of responses defines the main characteristics of the local pattern of annoyance and reaction of the urban population to the environmental noise.

Abstract:
AbstractEntrepreneurial innovation is a complex phenomenon. Experimenting with research designs that could claim some degree of generalizable linking between the individual and external influencing factors is challenging. However, progress even in research niches can contribute to a more structured understanding of the process. This article focuses on the first stages of entrepreneurial innovation, using a novel questionnaire design. Responses were collected from two Hungarian universities (147 and 127 responses, respectively) and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling. The results confirm that entrepreneurial innovation success in the early stage is shaped by macro-level factors, which have an influence on risk perception through locus of control. The paper makes two contributions, demonstrating (1) the possibility of using questionnaire survey for analysing multiple levels if the narrative is under control, and (2) how individual entrepreneurs approach the start of their innovation-based business, upon which personality and environmental factors both have significant impact.

Abstract:
The online learning platform is used as an object of research because it is one of the best ways that are widely used by students in helping to learn outside of school to deepen the knowledge that has been provided by the school. In this pandemic situation, the online learning platform is immensely helpful for students who do not understand the learning materials provided by the school because of the limitations when online classes make students bored. The research is focused on the use of online learning platforms among students. Research data to be analyzed in this study were collected by survey method, using a questionnaire. The questionnaire itself is divided into three main sections. From the results of the questionnaires that have been distributed to 100 respondents, users gave positive responses and accepted that they were satisfied with the online learning platform application services, the average online learning platform users were aged 16-18 who live in Greater Jakarta. This study investigates the independent and dependent variables from the online learning platform application. Keywords-- COVID-19, Online learning platform, online learning

Abstract:
Background Respondent engagement of questionnaires in health care is fundamental to ensure adequate response rates for the evaluation of services and quality of care. Conventional survey designs are often perceived as dull and unengaging, resulting in negative respondent behavior. It is necessary to make completing a questionnaire attractive and motivating. Objective The aim of this study is to compare the user experience of a chatbot questionnaire, which mimics intelligent conversation, with a regular computer questionnaire. Methods The research took place at the preoperative outpatient clinic. Patients completed both the standard computer questionnaire and the new chatbot questionnaire. Afterward, patients gave their feedback on both questionnaires by the User Experience Questionnaire, which consists of 26 terms to score. Results The mean age of the 40 included patients (25 [63%] women) was 49 (SD 18-79) years; 46.73% (486/1040) of all terms were scored positive for the chatbot. Patients preferred the computer for 7.98% (83/1040) of the terms and for 47.88% (498/1040) of the terms there were no differences. Completion (mean time) of the computer questionnaire took 9.00 minutes by men (SD 2.72) and 7.72 minutes by women (SD 2.60; P=.148). For the chatbot, completion by men took 8.33 minutes (SD 2.99) and by women 7.36 minutes (SD 2.61; P=.287). Conclusions Patients preferred the chatbot questionnaire over the computer questionnaire. Time to completion of both questionnaires did not differ, though the chatbot questionnaire on a tablet felt more rapid compared to the computer questionnaire. This is an important finding because it could lead to higher response rates and to qualitatively better responses in future questionnaires.
