Full textIn the past the craft areas of Magna Grecia’s cities have been investigated in a partial way and studied as source of complementary information; in the last few years, the research paid great attention to the Production’s Archaeology, that contributes to expanding the knowledge of the ancient communities, of which it provides informations on the technological and cultural heritage, the trade and exchange relations, and on social organization. Unfortunatley, until today, does not exist a work of synthesis that collects in a systematic way all data concerning the archaeological contexts and take stock of the status of the research. Therefore, the first part of my work is dedicated to the study of production areas of the Greek cities in southern Italy. The data flow into a reasoned record divided by sites, contributing to understanding the organization of their productive system. The second part is dedicated to the interpretation of the Poseidonia’s contexts that have returned traces of craftsmanship, both through the review of published data and unpublished data, found in the archives of the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum; the work was then conducted in the Museum stores, where the philological analysis of all the materials was carried out in order to reconstruct the stratigraphic sequence.
