Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to argue that the quality of a Building graduate is not compromised by qualifying through the access programme route. This paper examines the statistics of the 2005 and 2006 access programme and mainstream National Diploma Building cohorts as well as the 2007 mainstream cohort. The study made use of descriptive research comprising quantitative data. The quantitative data was derived from statistics based on student performance that was downloaded from the Management Information System of the University of Johannesburg. The findings revealed that, although the access Building students enter the access programme with results below the minimum entrance requirements for the national diploma, their graduation rate is above or equal to that of their mainstream peers who gained entry directly into the national diploma. Furthermore, many of these students register for post-graduate studies once they start working. This study confirms that students who have received additional support in their first year of study and who have been 'enculturated' into the 'ways of doing' of construction and engineering during a four-year access diploma programme are not inferior to students who have completed a mainstream diploma in 3 years.

Abstract:
Engineering education is being viewed as a fundamental matter in modern industry because engineering education produces graduates that are very important to the continued development of industry. Because of its importance, the quality of the engineering education should be improved continuously. Basically, the quality of education can be divided into the quality of the process and the quality of the outcome. The process includes the quality of the teaching, learning and curriculum, and the quality of the outcome is the quality of the competencies possessed by graduates. While the quality of curriculum and learning have been discussed in many scientific reports, the quality of competence is rarely discussed. Therefore, a study on the quality of graduates’ competence will be useful to augment recent studies on the quality of engineering education. The objective of this study is to analyse data of graduate quality so that useful information is obtained to help engineering education providers put strategies in place to improve its quality. The information includes the models linking quality and satisfaction.Data for this study including competence of graduates, performance of graduates, satisfaction of stakeholders, and expectations of stakeholders were obtained by survey with the questionnaire sets developed based on established variables and indicators. The targeted respondents are industry personnel monitoring graduates in workplaces. For comparison, data from academicians and professionals also were collected. Because of the diverse nature of engineering disciplines, the survey is limited to Civil Engineering graduates completing their studies from universities in Australia in recent years. The collected data were analysed using statistical methods in levels of samples and population. The variables related to competencies have been ranked so that the weaknesses and strengths of the competencies can be understood. The variables related to the expectations of stakeholders are also ranked so that the competencies that should be prioritized in education are identified. The characteristics of stakeholders’ satisfaction is defined based on the performance of graduates. Reliable models linking graduates’ competence and the stakeholders’ satisfaction have been developed. These findings will be useful to improve the quality of engineering education especially in the division of Civil Engineering.

Bittinger, Sara-Beth. "Perceptions of Bachelor-Degree Graduates Regarding General Education Program Quality." Thesis, Frostburg State University, 2017. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10603311.

Full text
Abstract:

This study was directed by a modified Delphi-methodology design to gain perspective of the perceptions of alumni regarding the value and applicability of the general education program. The expert-panel participants were 14 alumni of Frostburg State University from various majors, representative of all three colleges, who graduated between 2006 and 2011. This study sought to identify alumni perceptions of general education programming through three rounds of a survey administration and to use alumni responses to review the future development of the general education program. Overall, respondents agreed that their experiences at Frostburg moderately prepared them for real-world demands. Specifically, the average importance rankings of the various attributes related to their bachelor’s degrees identified by the panel were as follows: overall life preparation, preparation to be well-rounded and educated, career and professional preparation, preparation for the major, and aided in skill development.

Alumni ranked the importance of skills/attributes that prepared them for their profession as follows: communication, internship, leadership, relating to others, understanding different perspectives, legal and ethical skills, becoming well-rounded, and open-mindedness. Attributes identified as important to alumni when explaining their general education course selections were perceived usefulness of the course in the future, the subject of the course, the convenience of when the course was offered (time and day), satisfying the General Education Program requirement, advisor guidance, the professor teaching the course, and course rigor.

English composition and social and behavioral sciences ranked highest in importance, followed by mathematics, in all three rounds of the survey. Arts, humanities, and biological and physical sciences exhibited lower importance, measured by the mean rank. Regarding course subjects, English had the highest ranking followed by psychology, sociology, probability, and statistics.

Lazetic, Predrag. "The differences in job quality among higher education graduates in Europe : a cross-national analysis of 17 countries." Thesis, University of Bath, 2017. https://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.723330.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis investigates the diversity in job quality of university graduates in 17 European countries using multilevel regression modelling, based on combined REFLEX and HEGESCO graduate survey data. The focus of the research is on aspects of graduate jobs that affect quality, especially the analytically neglected aspects of skill utilisation and work autonomy, as well as income, job security and work life balance First, for the purposes of measuring job quality, the thesis proposes an international multidimensional Graduate Job Quality Index (GJQI) with potential applications for further research and policy evaluation. Second, the thesis analyses variance in graduate job quality across 258 sectors of economic activity in the 17 countries studied, and identifies a number of factors that are correlated with overall job quality and its dimensions. The main research focus, however, is on contextual factors in the wider society and economy that help explain both diversity in job quality and differences between different sectors of the economy and different occupational groups. In particular: 1) the adoption of new computer technologies; 2) exposure to globalisation, and 3) high educational attainment in the labour force. The study tests two broadly contrasting theoretical approaches to differences in graduate job quality: skill-biased technological change theory (Acemoglu, 2002) and the new institutionalism (Baker, 2014) on the one hand, and the conflict theory of global knowledge capitalism (Brown et al., 2012) on the other, and in empirical terms finds more support for the latter of two theoretical accounts.

Dommestrup, Pierre. "The relationship between collegiate athletic participation and future health and quality of life." Virtual Press, 1996. http://liblink.bsu.edu/uhtbin/catkey/1027115.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examined the relationship between former collegiate athletes and former college students who did not participate in intercollegiate athletics to determine if there is any correlation between athletic participation and future health. Two groups of Ball State University faculty (42 former athletes and 32 non-athletes) were selected for this research, and the variables of quality of life and well-being were investigated through the Quality of Life Index and TestWell wellness inventory. Former athletes were found to have a higher level of wellness. Similarly, as a group, athletes were found to have a higher quality of life than former non-athletes. These findings do not support the quality of life findings by Morgan and Montoye (1984).

Williamson, Loni S. "An Evaluation of Attributes and Competencies for Manufacturing Engineering Technology Graduates." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2006. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/807.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to determine the required attributes and competencies required for a graduate from a manufacturing engineering technology baccalaureate program. A document called “Competencies of Manufacturing Engineering Technology Graduates” was compiled in October 2004. This document lists twelve attributes thought to be important for MET graduates: Leadership, Professionalism, Creativity and Problem Solving, Management, Materials, Processes, Quality, Systems, Design, Communication, Safety and Environmental Issues, and Global Awareness. Under each attribute is a list of five to seven competencies creating a total of seventy-three competencies for graduates of an MET baccalaureate program. This list of attributes and competencies was converted into a survey for the purpose of evaluation by two manufacturing groups: educators and industry representatives. Overall, educators and industry representatives rated the attributes and competencies as important. Ninety-nine percent of the combined educator's and industry representative's competency questions had a mean response of 3.50 and above. Therefore, the competencies are relevant for MET graduates. It was determined that educators did significantly differ from industry representatives for their ratings of the attributes, but educators did not significantly differ from industry representatives for their ratings of the competencies. Generally, industry representatives rated attributes less highly than educators; however, the pattern of responses was similar across educators and industry representatives. The rankings of each attribute section from those rated most important to those rated least important were as follows: Professionalism, Communication, Creativity and Problem Solving, Manufacturing Processes, Design, Safety and Environmental Issues, Quality, Materials, Leadership, Management, Manufacturing Systems, and Global Awareness. Current literature mentions aspects of manufacturing that are considered important and these include: global or international awareness, lean manufacturing, life long learning, and communication. This survey indicated that the Global Awareness section was rated the least important of any section. The lean manufacturing competency had an average ranking out of all seventy-three competencies. Communication has been an important concern for MET graduates since the earliest studies and the survey results suggest that communication continues to be highly valued. MET educational programs should provide many opportunities for students to improve their communication skills.

Essilfie, Nomalanga V. "Enhancing employability of graduates from Higher Education Institutions in Botswana : a case study of Environmental Science." Thesis, University of Pretoria, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/46162.

Full text
Abstract:
The main aim of this study was to explore and describe the circumstances on the ground concerning employability of Environmental Science (ES) graduates in Botswana and to provide evidence that would either confirm or refute claims that graduates in Botswana, in general, are not employable. The second aim of this study was to describe whose role it is to enhance the employability of graduates. Furthermore it was also the aim of this study to investigate whether or not employability audits could be used as a quality assurance mechanism to ensure the employability of graduates in Botswana. These issues were investigated using the contextual framework of employability which explains the quality of higher education in relation to employability of graduates. This research reports on the findings of a case study of the Environmental Science programme offered by the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Botswana which was conducted in June 2012. The study revealed and confirmed gaps among ES graduates in the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the world of work. As a result of these gaps, ES graduates were found not be immediately employable without further on the job training. This created a lot of discontent among employers interviewed. The study concluded that higher education should go beyond providing education for the general development and well-being of individuals and address issues related to employability of graduating students. Conflicts in the possible roles of higher education and industry in enhancing the employability of ES graduates in terms of the changing expectations of the world of work were identified. The study highlighted the possible role of employability audits in enhancing employability not only of ES graduates but all other graduates in Botswana. Furthermore the study recommended that employability audits should be introduced in the tertiary education system of Botswana as a quality assurance mechanism. It further recommended collaboration and partnership with industry as key to the success of any measures put in place for the enhancement of the employability of graduates in Botswana.

Jones-Garcia, Tracy J. "Relationship Quality Associations Family Values for Online Graduate Students with Intimate Partners." ScholarWorks, 2017. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/3566.

Full text
Abstract:
Previous research found that relationship quality (RQ) for intimate couples may be adversely effected in times of stress, potentially decreasing marital satisfaction up to 36% during a four-year period for high stress couples. Previous research indicated family values (FV) may mediate RQ in stressful times; however, no research has examined this relationship for online/blended program graduate students. Students in these programs experience unique stress, change, and at times, physical distance from an intimate partner. Coombs's theory on values consensus postulated that the more alike family values are in a relationship, the better the RQ will be. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine differences between graduate students in online/blended programs and their partners in RQ and FV. Forty-five participants were surveyed using convenience sampling through a university participant pool. The majority of the online/blended program graduate participants were Caucasian and female. Variables were measured using the Family Assessment Device (FAD), the Perceived Relationship Quality Components Scale (PRQC), and demographic information. Mean scores for FAD were elevated indicating dysfunction in FV. A hierarchical multiple linear regression tested the hypothesis that family values are associated with RQ for study participants. The PRQC and FAD were significantly and negatively associated (R = -.80, α = .05) indicating as FAD increases PRQC decreases. Online/blended program students may need supports to maintain FV to mediate decreases in RQ during graduate study. Identifying FV impacts RQ can assist in the development of more targeted intervention, design, planning, and implementation of online and hybrid student assistance programs.

Abstract:
This study describes the experiences of doctoral students in education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The study focused only on the 14 HBCUs that offer doctoral degrees in education. Twelve of the 14 eligible institutions agreed to participate in the study. A total of 47 doctoral students who were in their third year of study or close to completion participated in the study. These doctoral students completed a survey that was utilized in a national study of doctoral students at predominately white institutions and Ivy League institutions conducted by Golde and Dore in 2001. The purpose of this study was to determine if doctoral students in education at HBCUs are receiving a quality education and if they are being adequately prepared for their careers. This study offers 368 findings from which the doctoral experience in education at HBCUs can be comprehensively evaluated. It was determined that doctoral students in education at HBCUs do receive a quality education and are being effectively prepared for their careers.

Day, Michael Dennis. "An assessment of selected factors contributing to the success of high quality college jazz studies programs." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1992. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/185890.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine what differences distinguish "quality jazz programs" from "other" programs and what might be learned from a comparison of the two groups that would be meaningful to jazz education. The study answered the questions: (1) is there a consensus among a group of jazz authorities regarding the ten "most effective" jazz programs in colleges and universities; and (2) are there characteristics of jazz programs considered outstanding by the profession that are not present in randomly selected college jazz programs? A panel of "experts" identified the top thirteen college jazz studies programs. A random group was selected from a list provided by the International Association of Jazz Educators. The "outstanding" population (n = 13) and the random population (n = 34) were sent identical survey instruments. The analysis of data identified significant differences between groups: (1) in the number of staff at every level (full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and teaching assistants); (2) in the number of big bands, combos, and jazz choirs; and (3) in the number of undergraduate and graduate music majors in the institution. There was a significant difference between groups in the number of jazz combos and within the outstanding population between big bands and combos. Also, outstanding schools were more likely than the "other" schools to: (1) employ full-time jazz faculty; (2) have a vocal jazz program; (3) have an organized plan for recruiting and award jazz scholarships; (4) be located in larger urban areas with more opportunities for students to hear jazz; (5) offer a jazz studies degree; (6) offer a greater variety of jazz courses; (7) have a recording studio on campus; and (8) have a jazz requirement for music education students. Enrollments in jazz courses were increasing in both populations.

Oliveira, José Renato Sena. "Quality in the process of scientific production in accounting in Brazil." Universidade de São Paulo, 2016. http://www.teses.usp.br/teses/disponiveis/12/12136/tde-12072016-102123/.

Full text
Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the building process of scientific production in accounting in light of the quality attributes of good research. In so doing, it attempts to identify the stages of the research process in which these characteristics are revealed, to compare the literature on research attributes with the attributes identified in respondents\' practices, and to present an approach based on the attributes of good research to judge the quality of scientific production in the accounting field. This research uses the Modified Delphi Technique, which indicates that the first inputs came from the literature. The expert panel consisted of 37 faculty members from 19 Brazilian graduate programs in accounting who were recommended/recognized by the CAPES Foundation. Based on the literature, especially Brinberg and McGrath (1985), Spencer et. al. (2003), and Mays and Pope (2006), an orientation matrix was developed with 53 attributes/relationships related to general quality criteria and nine key features. Experts gave each proposition a grade from 1 to 10 based on their level of agreement regarding adherence to their research practices. The Delphi was applied in two rounds using online questionnaires with customized access. The findings reveal that most of the respondents obtained their doctoral degree in accounting at a national institution other than the one at which they currently work and that more than 70% of the respondents have been working as teachers or coordinators in graduate programs for fewer than seven years. With respect to the respondents\' research experience, most serve on journals\' editorial boards, act as journal referees, and at some point have obtained research funding from development institutions. Approximately one-third have received research productivity grants and almost one-half either currently serve or has served as a journal editor. Approximately 3/4 of the propositions achieved a strong level of agreement, and the following 10 propositions achieved a Delphi relative score of more than 90%: voluntary participation of subjects, goal/problem shown precisely, confidentiality of participants\' data, conclusions versus aim, results comparison with other studies, checklist of findings versus purpose, literature review versus main concepts, theory to support propositions, useful strategy for purpose, and previous findings versus hypotheses. Those attributes that demonstrated low or moderate levels of agreement involved items that may compromise the quality and integrity of research, including those related to ethical principles, demonstrations of how researchers addressed errors and biases, and disclosure of the impact of the research team\'s participation on the results. The approach chosen meant discussing the relationships between criteria and fundamental features versus levels of agreement, followed by presentation of a logic model to evaluate the research process. The research concludes that certain current practices employed by Brazilian researchers in accounting - combined with the local institutional environment - contribute to reduce the quality of accounting research. This position is supported by the high dispersion of answers on various items and the low acceptance of attributes related to ethics, both of which are mandatory requirements under Brazilian law. Additionally, the low level of agreement on issues regarding the criteria of rigor and internal validity/credibility or defensibility - in addition to items related to rigor, integrity, and feasibility - reached only the moderate level.

Cortes, Kathryn R. "Comparing a General and Transitional Registered Nurse Orientation to Facilitate Quality Improvement." ScholarWorks, 2018. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/5548.

Abstract:
Most hospitals orient new graduate nurses and experienced nurses in the same generalized orientation programs. To address the cost of orientation to specialty units, a pediatric hospital developed a tailored transitional residency orientation program for experienced nurses. The purpose of this project was to describe, compare, and evaluate the existing generalized orientation program and the transitional orientation program to determine how the orientations differed in structure, process, and outcomes. Donabedian's model assessing quality of care services and Benner's novice-to-expert theoretical framework served as guides in evaluating the orientation outcomes. Qualitative data about residency classroom time, preceptor selection and time, mentor selection and time, debriefing, and total length of orientation were collected for the generalized and transitional programs. The findings were that interview process and time, classroom time, mentor time, debriefing time, and length of orientation were decreased in the new transitional orientation program. Orientation costs were less for the transitional program than the generalized program ($20,000 to $30,000 versus $50,000 per nurse, respectively) and nursing staff retention was better for the transitional program than the generalized program (90% versus 68%). The generalized orientation and separate transitional orientation have resulted in a social change by delivering cost-effective orientation to both novice and experienced nurses. Outcomes will be of interest to hospital human resource departments and nurses who conduct orientation programs.

Klingler, Scott Lavell. "What makes a quality Ph.D. program in library and information sciences?" Thesis, University of North Texas, 2006. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc5499/.

Full text
Abstract:
The intent of this study was to establish and validate criteria for use to assess the quality of a library and information sciences (LIS) Ph.D. program. The Ph.D. student-centric topology for quality Ph.D. programs was developed from a 2001 position statement by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) regarding the quality indicators in research-focused doctoral programs in nursing. Topology components were tested using a survey instrument to establish their importance to the community of practice and their potential use to assess a Ph.D. program. Survey participants were asked to rank terms or concepts in a balanced incomplete block (BIB) design then rate, on a Likert-type scale, statements about the applicability of these terms or concepts to assessing a quality LIS Ph.D. program. Survey participants were from the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) Open Lib/Info Sci Education Forum jESSE Listserv. Of 225 survey participants affiliated with universities or schools from North America who submitted usable surveys, slightly less than two-thirds (64.4 %) were female while 35.5 % were male. Ninety-eight participants (43.6 %) were faculty, 114 (50.7 %) were Ph.D. students or candidates, and 13 (5.8 %) were in other roles. Statistical analysis of survey responses showed consistent results between the different demographic groups. The topology was validated by the results of the statistical analysis of the research data. Every component of the topology was acknowledged as very important to assess the quality of a LIS Ph.D. program. Faculty was the highest ranked item in the BIB analysis with a statistically significant difference (p < .0001) in the mean rank order from the next highest ranked item, Ph.D. students. The rank order from the BIB analysis was as follows: faculty, Ph.D. students, programs (courses) of study, teaching, learning environment, resources, and evaluation. Faculty was also the highest rated item in the Likert-type statement analysis.

Abstract:
Background Mentorship is used to ease entry to practice for new nursing graduates. However, little is known about the process of pairing with experienced nurses. The aim of this dissertation is to explore mentorship pairing processes for new nursing graduates and experienced nurses. Methods 1. A quality improvement project was conducted using organizational data to describe the impact of the New Graduate Guarantee program at The Ottawa Hospital from 2013 to 2018 on new graduate nurses and organizational outcomes. 2. An interpretive descriptive study was conducted to develop an in-depth understanding of mentorship pairing practices specific to nursing occurring in a clinical setting that will ultimately inform future mentorship pairing practices. 3. A systematic review was conducted to determine the effect of mentorship pairing processes on the mentoring relationship and outcomes at the level of the new nursing graduate, mentor and organization. Findings 1. From 2013 to 2017, 66 nurses were hired directly into operational vacancies and 579 new graduate nurses were paired with a mentor in the New Graduate Guarantee program. The two-year turnover rate for new graduates who participated in the New Graduate Guarantee program (21.5%, N=92/427) was lower than new graduate turnover rates reported in the literature. 2. Interviews with 13 new graduate nurses and 12 mentors revealed a lack of awareness of current nursing mentorship pairing processes. Six nurse leaders described pairing processes using third party pairing. Participants suggested preparation, socialization and self-selection are key components to consider for future practice. 3. Of 2583 citations screened, no studies evaluated the nursing mentorship pairing process. Research is required to determine effective mentorship pairing processes in nursing. Conclusion Although 579 nurses were hired through the New Graduate Guarantee nursing mentorship program, the 13 new graduates and 12 mentors interviewed were unaware of the process used for pairing. Furthermore, no studies have evaluated mentorship pairing processes. Ninety percent of new graduates hired participated in the New Graduate Guarantee program. Future research is required to trial pairing processes proposed by nurse leaders, new graduates and experienced nurses and to develop and validate tools to evaluate the outcomes of these pairings.

Abstract:
University departments that offer graduate programs require feedback to assess the quality of the education they offer. Feedback on the quality of education is provided in the form of program evaluation. In the general approach to program evaluation, outsiders, i.e., people who are not parts of a program, do the evaluation. This descriptive study starts out with the belief that the best feedback in program evaluation can only come from insiders, i.e., faculty, students, and alumni, who are parts of a particular program. In order to capture the perspectives of insiders on the quality related characteristics of a program, this study evaluated a master&rsquo
s degree program in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) at an American university in a practical and cost-effective way, using a minimum number of evaluators. All faculty, students, and alumni of the program form the participants in this study. Regular program evaluation studies are conducted to do one type of evaluation only and they do not seek insiders&rsquo
opinions. Unlike such studies, this evaluative research study aims to go beyond that familiar narrow focus and provide a richer description of the program it evaluates. Its research design and the data collection methods employed in it are chosen to achieve that goal. These enable the present study to have a broader scope than those of the regular program evaluation studies as the collected data can be used for more than one type of analysis. The results of data collection show that all parties express positive opinion on the aspects of the program that are directly related to the teaching that takes place in classes. Areas of the program that need improvement are also introduced, and recommendations to overcome them are presented.

Abstract:

The text presents the investigative report.
The investigation described and analyzed the labour insertion situation for professionals who graduated in Science Education from different universities in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia).

It is based on the analysis of socio - educational & economic texts, educational theories and concepts, employability, and transitional studies.

A tool, a structured questionnaire, was designed and applied using an empirical and analytical focus. This was applied to 242 junior professionals (class of 98´) and seniors (class of 01´). The results indicated that transition into the labour market is determined by first level training, i.e. teaching received and experience.

In order to produce a favourable transition into the labour market regarding the transitions, certain guidelines are proposed for the monitoring of professionals and the implementation of labour insertion programmes. These employ strategies such as the creation of interdisciplinary teams, the establishment of an information network and the importance of the investigative function.

Full text
Abstract:
Information literacy is one of competences conferred to individual employability in information and knowledge society (IKS). By Requiring employable skills (EC), this society acquires a new dimension (SICS & CE) and passes labor market from classic concept of "job market" to "employability market (MEMP)" seeking flexibility and adaptive skills to changes. Foresight Scanning in general and specifically digital one, works by its "Information and Knowledge Production Process" to develop information literacy/Internet (CIVI) to improve various individual skills. In this sense, this thesis evolves in a qualitative and interpretative exploratory approach, to treat the issue of quality skills development, defining the employability of university students. It seeks to know how a universities’ foresight scanning will improve quality of their employable CIVI culture skill, by adopting in its informational production process, a market-oriented relational marketing involving university students as "internal customers ", as well as employability market actors as" external customers " ?Evolving in a socio-constructivist perspective, series of evaluations on skills and satisfactions of learners as well as their skills CIVI assessment models were developed as part of a competency based approach (SBA) adopting a relational internal and external marketing. This approach is characterized firstly by an "Orientation-Involvement of Learners-Clients: OI-APCL" and secondly by an "Orientation-Involvement of employability market: OI-MEMP," based on an educational blog as informational Web.2.0 System and monitoring tool designed to develop competency in information literacy learners. This led us to conclude in the orientation forward an employability university, skills levels improvement by declining secular groups CIVI culture, from 88.74% to 41.94% and a need for training CIVI rate of Culture from 89.50% to 46.50% resulting to learner employability and the recruitment of three groups of the 20 pairs graduate students involved in our work, This recommends adoption of an " Foresight Scanning employability" for quality development skills in SICS&CE society seeking now more than information and knowledge, but also flexibility skills to adapt changes and innovations defining really individual employability

Abstract:
In recent years, transformation in South African Universities saw an increase in the number of postgraduate students enrolling for Masters’ research programmes as access and educational opportunities have been widened. The purpose of this research was to investigate research supervision experiences of Masters postgraduate students. A qualitative, contextual, descriptive and phenomenological research design was used to explore the experiences of the 2010 MEd cohort at a purposively chosen university. This was a small scale study of six participants in different stages of their research projects sampled purposively. The preferred phenomenological interview method of gathering information from the subjects was in-depth unstructured interviews. This research study revealed that the postgraduate students at the University under investigation still continue to experience the traditional model of a single supervisor supervising a strictly research based work. The most crucial component of research supervision experiences that emerged was the quality of supervision between supervisors and supervisees which revealed power struggles in supervisory relationships. Such relationships emerged as push and pull, fight or flight amongst different individual participants and their supervisors.

Abstract:
Graduate end postgraduate Institutions have felt the transformations that have been happening all over the world, and this has influenced the quality of professors work life. Based on this fact, this work aimed to: (i) comprehend how the quality of work life is perceived by professors in graduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of Social and Human Sciences of a Federal University in a country town of the South Region of Brazil; (ii) understand how the new employment configurations can influence professors life quality; (iii) learn the meaning attributed by professors to the quality of work life and (iv) identify aspects of professors QWL and relate them to the conditions of their professional activity. This work consisted of an empirical, exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained by means of a semi- structured interview, and the technique of content analysis was used for analyzing the data. Ten professors participated in the research: five taught undergraduates programs and the other 5 also worked in the postgraduate ones. All of them hold a Doctoral Degree and have an exclusive dedication work regime at the University. Data were collected in the months of April, May and June 2011. As a result of the study, two papers were written. In the first article entitled work life quality of professors in graduate and postgraduate programs , a non-systemic literature review of the comprehension of the life quality of professors who work in graduate and postgraduate programs was undertaken. The study aimed to present the main elements which are part of the notion of quality of work life emphasizing how professors dealt with this issue especially in graduate and postgraduate programs. In the second article, the empirical research called quality of working life from the perspective of professors of graduate end postgraduate programs of a Public University , three categories were described: new demands and greater requirements; meanings of the quality of working life, and aspects mentioned about professors QWL which were discussed based on related theories. The results of the first study made it clear that several elements are essential for the quality of work life of professionals in graduate and postgraduate programs such as the individual pathway, the organizational aspects of the institutions and the social environment in which these workers are incorporated. Therefore the set of these elements will influence the way the teachers perceive their professional activity and this will reflect into the quality of life at work as well as into the quality of their performance in the education process of future professionals. In the second article, it became evident that regardless of whether the teachers were working or not in postgraduate programs, they have the same perception about the increase of workload, which happens after the qualification process, a requirement they need to fulfill. The teachers feel they have to work harder to fulfill the requirements in the postgraduate programs, and this seems to unleash a negative reaction once they recognize that teaching is being directed to other purposes, that is, to fulfill the requirements of publications to achieve the score established by the Ministry of Education. Moreover, it is necessary a discussion about the aspects that comprehend the quality of work life, as a way of fostering an awareness on professors and Institutions about the care they should take with the health of their professors and provide a better work environment to them.

Lamb, Keith Whitaker. "The Role of Brand Equity in Reputational Rankings of Specialty Graduate Programs in Colleges of Education: Variables Considered by College of Education Deans and Associate Deans Ranking the Programs." Abstract:
Seeking to identify and further understand the variables considered when ranking specialty programs in colleges of education, this research study surveyed all deans, and associate deans responsible for graduate education, at United States institutions that offer the terminal degree in at least one of the ten education specialty areas. The study utilized a three-dimension model of brand equity from the marketing literature, which included the elaboration likelihood model of persuasion. Descriptive statistics determined that research by the faculty of the specialty program is the variable most widely considered by deans and associate deans when determining reputation. In order to determine what predicts a person's motivation to correctly rank programs, a principal components analysis was utilized as a data reduction technique, with parallel analysis determining component retention. The model identified five components which explained 66.224% of total variance. A multiple regression analysis determined that characteristics of a specialty program was the only statistically significant predictor component of motivation to correctly rank programs (β = .317, p = .008, rs2 = .865); however, a large squared structure coefficient was observed on perceived quality (rs2 = .623). Using descriptive discriminant analyses, the study found there is little evidence that marketing efforts have differing effects on groups. Further, a canonical correlation analysis that examined the overall picture of advertising on different groups was not statistically significant at F (15, 271) = .907, p = .557, and had a relatively small effect size (Rc2 = .099).

This research is part of the institutional evaluation field, in particular, the evaluation of undergraduate courses, aiming the development of a methodology for analyzing the results of the evaluation process as a way to subsidize on a broad perspective the decision-making, and more specifically, the reformulation processes. The proposed methodology seeks to integrate information from different evaluation processes related to undergraduate programs, with emphasis on those established by the Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (National Higher Education Evaluation System, SINAES) to analyze them critically. In this case, the report of the institutional self-assessment, the report of the Commissions assessment in loco of the Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais “Anísio Teixeira” (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research “Anísio Teixeira”, INEP), coming from the regulatory processes of recognition and renewal of recognition of undergraduate courses and the course report of the Exame Nacional de Desempenho de Estudantes (National Examination of Student Performance Report, ENADE). In addition to these, it will be exemplified other internal and /or external indicators that may be included when they’re relevant to the course. The objective is to stimulate analysis of the results of evaluation processes which underwent certain undergraduate courses, organizing information and making it accessible to those involved with the course, especially the academic bodies responsible for formulating a critical and systemic diagnosis on the implementation of the Educational Project Course and, when appropriate, for proposing modifications. The theoretical framework proposed for this analysis is based on the concept of emancipatory evaluation, whose basic principle is the pursuit of transformation of a given reality from a participatory assessment process. The preparation of the methodological proposal was preceded by bibliographical and documentary research that theoretically grounded it and then was developed experimentally in an undergraduate degree at UFSCar. The methodology we used for the development of the proposal was the action-research, and in order to validate it, it was held the meeting of the focus group with the teachers of the course. The central idea of the proposal is to collect, organize and analyze the indicators resulting from internal and external evaluation processes of undergraduate courses, organizing the information into large dimensions for a critical comparison of results from different sources. In this paper, a pilot spreadsheet was developed in twelve dimensions that organizes the extracted results from different sources of information, thus contributing with a comparative analysis and critique of each dimension evaluated. The results showed that this methodological approach proved to be appropriate to support the analysis performed by teachers on the results of evaluations to which the course has been submitted. The authors emphasize the importance of the multiple evaluation processes for the construction of a broad diagnosis of the current situation; More than that, it was found that the process of analyzing the information organized as proposed favors collective discussion on the Pedagogical Project of the Course and encourages educational evaluation culture in its formative and emancipatory sense; It showed up, too, the importance of an education expert who has knowledge of the methodological approach and on the evaluation processes.

Abstract:
Submitted in fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of Masters of Technology: Quality,Durban University of Technology, Durban, South Africa, 2012.
This study examined the quality, employability and the competencies of graduates from the Department of Operations and Quality Management at Durban University of Technology (DUT). The objectives of the study included determining the relevance of the curriculum to the workplace; evaluating the views of graduates regarding employability; and assessing the views of organisations regarding graduate performance in the workplace. The study also proposes that with the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Operations Management, graduates should be able to reach their full personal and professional potential. However, these graduates still experience difficulties in adjusting and coping with the realities of the labour market. Combinations of qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. The study was exploratory in nature. The study made use of questionnaires to obtain the respondent’s view. The pilot study composed a sample of ten graduates. For the main study, forty of the sixty graduates and employers completed and returned the questionnaires that were administered. The response rate was 67%. The Cronbach’s Alpha Reliability Analysis was used to measure the reliability of the questionnaires. Face validity was verified by the statistician for pre-administering of questionnaires. The results revealed that obtaining a qualification in operations management at DUT increases the employability of graduates. The study also showed that employers are content with the way in which these graduates are able to translate their theoretical knowledge into practice, and to identify and solve problems within organisations. However, the study shows that some employers did not provide adequate support and guidance in relation to their development.

Abstract:
Job quality has been a subject of growing interest by the international institutions and academics in the last two decades. Economic crisis and increasing supply of graduates renewed the debate about the benefits of investments in higher education and the working conditions of young highly skilled people. This dissertation draws on European Union Labour Force Survey data from the year 2014 and examines the job quality of the PhDs holders in Portugal. It should be noted that literature on PhD graduates jobs is scarce, so this research attempts to fill this gap in the literature. The jobs were examined through a fuzzy clustering analysis, which enabled us to identify typologies of PhDs jobs. The empirical results pointed to three fuzzy clusters and show that one type of job comprises foreign young women with precarious and part-time jobs, who are overqualified and unsatisfied since are looking for another job. Another cluster aggregates senior PhD holders with high-wages, stability and good work-life balance. Finally, the third typology differs from the latter since PhD graduates seem to find it difficult to balance personal life and professional responsibilities. The findings corroborate previous research in that young people are facing increasing difficulties in the labour market; this affects also highly skilled young people.

Abstract:
International policies related to employment and the education system have spread concern about job quality. This dissertation uses the European Union Labour Force Survey to explore the job quality of young bachelor and master graduates in Southern European Countries, namely Portugal, Greece and Italy. After analysing the characteristics of job quality, those were matched with the available information in the database. A fuzzy cluster analysis allowed to understand the different typologies prevailing in each country. The results achieved show that the young graduates (20 to 24 years old) prevail in the typology with the lowest income, involuntary contracts with flexible duration, part-time job and some atypical work, entering the labour market through these conditions and they are searching for another job. The young adult graduates (25 to 29 years old) prevail in a typology with moderate income, contract from seven months to unlimited duration, full-time and working regular hours. However, some graduates are assigned to stable jobs with long-term contract, full-time job working long hours, higher income and disturbances in work-life balance. Considering the distribution of the graduates by job quality, around a third of the sample is aligned with a single typology where slightly more than half has a combination of two. This shows that having a higher education is no longer sufficient to guarantee a high-quality job for all graduates. Policy-makers should take initiatives to encourage employers to foster job quality and allow young people to have a better transition to and trajectory in the labour market.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the quality of life of graduated students in the special classes from Vocational High School located at the remote areas. In this study, we take graduates from three Special classes in Vocational High Schools in Taitung County as research objects, and track their independent living conditions, working conditions and daily life quality. There are about 180 graduates from these three Vocational High School in the last 10 years. The Questionnaires were conducted in the researcher, the actual contact with 145 graduates. Among the 145 questionnaires, 139 valid questionnaires were collected, and the valid received rate was 95.8%. The results showed that the satisfaction of psychological, community and occupational quality of life was between middle and upper levels of consent. In the dimensions of economic integration, independent action and autonomy / self-determination, the performance can reach the significant difference of p <0.05. In addition, for the other relevant options, such as leisure activities, job opportunities and work environments, the degrees of the performance are low. Graduates within three years had the best response to psychological quality of life, while those who had been graduated for more than six years had the best response to community quality of life. The Pearson product-moment correlation analysis showed that the correlation between psychological quality of life and community quality of life was moderately positive correlation. However, on the other hand, the correlation between psychological quality of life and the occupational quality of life, also the correlation between community quality of life and occupational quality of life, were all low positive correlation. In regression analysis of graduates' occupational quality of life, the main influencing factors are autonomy / self-determination, well-being and family support.

This study analyzes the importance of the quality of higher education in the educational input-output process based on two different samples. The sample of fresh college graduates in 1991 is used to measure the impact of school quality on earnings for entry level workers. The sample of college graduate in 1992 with 2-3 years of work experiences is used to measure the impact of school quality on earnings for experienced workers. Six input indices such as “the teacher-student ratio”, “library collections” and “the ratio of teachers with doctor’s degrees” are employed to represent school quality. The potential problem of sample selection bias is taken into account by applying the Heckman’s two-stage procedure and the Bivariate Probit Selection model. The results suggest that in the early 90’s of Taiwan, the input of education does not necessarily have positive effect on the output no matter what kind of sample is adopted, and the school quality effect vanishes with the extension of a graduate’s career. We also find that the impact caused by the input indices varies for college graduates with different fields of major. Commonly, the quality indices show stronger influence on the graduates majoring in natural science than those who major in social science.

This study adopted interview investigation method to explore the community, psychological and vocational aspects of quality of life on 90 graduates with intellectual disabilities from self contained classes of vocational high schools in Kaohsiung area. The difference among those graduates from different background and the relations among three aspects of quality of life were examined too. The Quality of Life Inventory was used to collect the data from 90 graduates. Following the investigation, the qualitative study was adopted to elaborate quantitative findings by in depth interviews with 6 of 90 participants, their parents and significant others. The major findings of this study were as follows. The results indicated that all participants were single and many of them were dependent on the original families in the daily life. Although most of them owned basic abilities to handle their life, they still lived with parents or relatives who support and help them to manage their financial situation and make important decisions about the future as when they were in school. In general, these graduates had low family socioeconomic status, but this fact didn’t affect their qualities of life significantly. For the quality of vocational life, the rate of employment is about the same as the past researches. But results of this study showed that the types and pay of their jobs are worse. In their leisure time, “watching TV, movies and listening to music at home”was the most popular activity, and the next was “entertainments on the internet”. Therefore, there existed three main characteristics,: “home”, “static” and “monotonous” in their leisure life. With regards to the quality of life, the result revealed that the graduates expected to find a job and be independent of families, but they were lack of the chances of being employed and independent, had no close interpersonal relationship and less self consciousness, and felt more dissatisfied with obtaining what they desire or like, expressing their negative emotions and arranging things/ activities or making decisions. They were passive on employment preparation and most of them were not be able to gain the sense of identification and achievement from jobs. For the effect of backgrounds on the quality of life, this study found that there exist significant differences in several dimensions of quality of life about statuses of employment, levels of disabilities, leisure participations and acceptances of employment services. Besides, any two of the above were moderately related to each other in every aspect of The Quality of Life Inventory, sub-scales and total scale. Finally, according to results, some suggestions were proposed to organizations offering services to adults with intellectual disabilities, government making policies and the future research.

Salazar, Meagan Joy. "How current school leaders make sense of inclusive education policies : a qualitative exploration of graduates of a “high-quality” principal preparation program." Thesis, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/2152/28740.

Full text
Abstract:
With increasing demand for school accountability following the NCLB Act of 2001, school leaders have a greater responsibility to students with disabilities than ever tinclude special education leadership due to the leadership imperative to meet the needs of all students (Lashley, 2007; Yell, 2012). Little attention, however, has been paid to special education and special education law in leadership preparation programs (Cusson, 2010; Pazey & Cole, 2013), leaving school leaders inadequately prepared to serve all students. The purpose of this study was to explore how six current school leaders who are graduates of a university-based “high-quality” principalship program created an inclusive school culture. Guided by the theoretical framework of sensemaking (Weick, 1995) and a phenomenological approach (Creswell, 2007; Patton, 1990), this study examined the ways in which six school leaders used what they know about special education and special education law to develop their understanding of such policy and sought to gain insight into why they made sense of and constructed their interpretations of the policy in a particular way. Of particular interest was their perceived roles in working with special education staff, and the effects their construction and application of inclusive education policy had on students with disabilities. The findings of this study suggest that these six school leaders’ sensemaking of inclusive education policy was influenced by three factors: knowledge, experiences, and personal contexts. Each of these three factors were situated within the context of the school leaders’ constructed identities. If the school leader perceived his or her role as a leader for special education, he or she was more inclined to seek special education and special education law content knowledge, ensure their campus staff attained and maintained the capacity to meet the needs of all students, and continuously searched for specific experiences and opportunities that they could make available to themselves and others that required them to grapple with difficult issues related to special education. In doing so, they were able to effect deeper-level change on their school campuses.

Abstract:
Acknowledging the various benefits that can be reaped from good quality education in schools, the primary aim of this study was to explore and investigate the effect of the BETD Graduates on the quality of education in primary schools, in Kunene region. Seventeen primary school principals took part in the study. They completed a questionnaire and the data was analysed using a qualitative method. Four main categories were investigated: (i) socio-demographic information (ii) the implementation of the BETD skills (iii) job performance and (iv) organizational effectiveness. This study suggests that there is a strong relationship between the type and quality of teacher education and its effect on the achievement and performances of learners in particular and the school in general. Therefore the quality of education in schools can be determined by the quality of the teachers on the ground.

Montenegro, Hans Christian. "La qualité de l’emploi des nouveaux diplômés postsecondaires au Canada : déterminants et évolution dans le temps." Thèse, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/8954.

Full text
Abstract:
This research focuses on job quality of recent Canadian postsecondary graduates. The motivation for this topic is the significant job market shifts, the shortage of skilled workers, and the fact that two out of three Canadians are directly affected by job quality. Using Cloutier’s (2008) typology, the present study has two objectives. The first one is to examine the evolution of job quality of recent Canadian postsecondary graduates between 1992 and 2007. The second objective is to examine the influence that the level of education, field of study and gender have on job quality. Our empirical analyses use data from Statistics Canada’s 1990 and 2005 National Graduates Survey carried out in 1992 and 2007 respectively. Concerning the first objective, our results indicate that three dimensions of job quality, namely salary, job stability and qualifications, declined in 2007 compared to 1992. Concerning the second objective, results show that level of education and field of study are significant determinants of the four dimensions of job quality examined in this study. Indeed, a higher level of education increases annual salary and the probability of working full-time. On the other hand, the probability of having a job that matches the completed program, and the probability of having a permanent position are negatively associated with the level of study. We also find that the job market particularly values domains that allow students to acquire specific (professional) skills. Salary, the likelihood of having full-time work and the probability of job-education match are relatively higher for graduates in these domains. Regarding the impact of gender, our results do not indicate statistical significance for the dimensions of job stability and job-education match. Nevertheless, males earn on average more than females and are more likely to have a full-time employment.

Abstract:
The fourth industrial revolution and twenty-first century employability development has emerged on education and political agendas as a priority all over the world. Researchers have suggested and investigated more innovative learning experiences using technology as part of a blended learning approach. Restructuring current programmes to include skills development has the potential to equip students with the skills needed for employment. The development of blended learning approaches is an expanding field in both developing and developed countries. Yet, the skills graduates display and employers’ dissatisfaction is a concern. Limited research has been conducted on the use of blended learning to enhance employability development in formal learning environments. Most of the available research relies on employer perceptions, with little data available on the knowledge, skills and values graduates actually possess or on the impact this has on employability outcomes. This study aims to address this gap by focussing on managing the quality of employability development in higher education using blended learning. The study was aimed at gaining insight into the perceptions, understanding, concerns and experiences of institutional managers, tutors, graduates and students in their real world when using blended learning to enhance graduateness. This aim made the qualitative research method a suitable match. This thesis reports on the resulting comparative study between a South African and an American institution using different blended learning approaches to compare different cases for similarities and variations. The South African higher education sector’s fitness for purpose and pursuit of benchmarking against international standards of academic quality, knowledge and expertise calls for redress and reform of teaching-learning. In the fourth industrial revolution with a 21st century knowledge economy, driven from a macro- meso- and microlevel perspective, higher education in South Africa has the potential to provide a workforce that is socially and economically viable and more inclusive. The thesis concludes with a model to support employability development in blended learning environments.
Uphuhliso lwezakhono nokuqesheka ngenkulungwane yamashumi amabini nanye, zivele kwii-ajenda yezemfundo kunye nezopolitiko njengeziqaqambileyo kwihlabathi jikelele. Abaphengululi bacebisile kwaye baphanda ngamanye amava amaninzi amatsha okufunda besebenzisa itheknoloji njengenxalenye yokuvelela ukufunda ngokuhlanganisiweyo/ngokudibeneyo. Ukulungiswa kwakhona iinkqubo ezikhoyo kubandakanywa uphuhliso lwezakhono kunako ukubaxhobisa abafundi ngezakhono ezifunekayo kwingqesho. Uphuhliso lokuvelela ukufunda okudibeneyo/okuhlangeneyo ngummandla owandayo kumazwe asakhulayo naselekhulile. Kunjalo, izakhono eziboniswa ngabafundi abanemfundo ephakamileyo, zibanga inkxalabo kubaqeshi. Uphando oluncinane luqhutyiwe ekusetyenzisweni kokufunda okuhlanganisiweyo ukuphucula uphuhliso lokuqeshwa kwiindawo zokufunda ezisemthethweni. Uninzi lophando olukhoyo luxhomekeka kwiimbono zomqeshi, onolwazi oluncinane kulwazi, izakhono kunye neenqobo ezisemgangathweni abafundi abanemfundo ephakamileyo ngokwenene abanazo okanye kwifuthe le nto enalo kwiziphumo zokuqesheka. Esi sifundo(Olu phononongo) sijolise ekuxazululeni/ ekudibeni lo msantsa ngokugxila ekulawuleni umgangatho wophuhliso lokuqesheka kwimfundo ephakamileyo kusetyenziswa ukufunda okuhlangeneyo. Uhlolisiso lwalujoliswe ekufumaneni ingqiqo kwiimbono, ekuqondeni, iinkxalabo kunye namava abalawuli beziko, abafundisi, abafundi kwizifundo zemfundo ephakamileyo abaphumeleleyo nabafundi kwilizwe labo lokwenene xa befunda ngendlela yokudibanisa ukufunda ukuphucula impumelelo yabo yokuba beneziqu. Le njongo yenza indlela yophando olusemgangathweni lufaneleke. Le ngxelo yeengcingane ezibhaliweyo engqinelwe zizixhobo ekukhutshweni kwengxelo kwizifundo zothelekiso phakathi kweziko loMzantsi Afrika neziko laseMerika kusetyenziswa uvelelo lwezifundo zokufunda ngokudibeneyo ezahlukileyo ukuthelekisa imiba eyahlukileyo kwefanayo kunye neyeleleneyo. Ukufanelekeka kwecandelo lemfundo ephakamileyo eMzantsi Afrika ngenjongo kunye nokulangazelela (nokusukela) imilinganiselo esemgangathweni yemilinganiselo yemfundo yamazwe ngamazwe, ulwazi kunye nobuchule bokulungisa nokutshintshwa kokufundisa nokufunda. Ngolwazi lwezoqoqosho lwenkulungwane yamashumi amabini nanye, oluqhutywa ngokwembono yenqanaba elikhuluu, eliphakathi nelincinane, imfundo ephakamileyo eMzantsi Afrika inokukwazi ukubonelela ngabasebenzi abafanelekileyo ngokwentlalo nangokwezoqoqosho kwaye ibandakanye okuninzi. Le thisisi iphetha okanye iphela ngemodeli/ ngomzekelo ukuxhasa uphuhliso lokuqesheka kwiindawo zokufunda ngokudibeneyo.
Ukuthuthukiswa kwamakhono kanye nokuqasheka kwabafundi abaphuma ezikhungweni zemfundo ephakeme kuleli khulu-nyaka lama-21 sekubonakala njengento eseqhulwini ezinhlelweni zezemfundo kanye nezepolitiki emhlabeni wonke jikelele. Abacwaningi sebephakamise futhi bacubungula izindlela nezinqubo zokufunda ezintsha kusetshenziswa ubuchwepheshe njengengxenye yokufunda okuxubile. Ukuhlelwa kabusha kwezinhlelo ezikhona njengamanje ngenhloso yokubandakanya ukuthuthukiswa kwamakhono kungabahlinzeka abafundi ngamakhono adingekayo ukuze baqashwe. Ukuthuthukiswa kwezindlela zokufunda okuxubile kungumkhakha okhulayo emazweni asathuthuka ngokunjalo nasemazweni asethuthukile. Kodwa-ke nakuba kunjalo, amakhono aboniswa ngabafundi abaphuma ezikhungweni zemfundo ephakeme, kanye nokungagculiseki kwabaqashi, kuseyinto edala ukukhathazeka impela. Lukhona ucwaningo oluncane oselwenziwe mayelana nokusetshenziswa kwezindlela zokufunda okuxubile ngenhloso yokuphucula ukuthuthukiswa kokuqasheka kwabafundi abaphuma ezikhungweni zemfundo ephakeme ngaphansi kwezimo zokufunda ezihlelekile. Ucwaningo oluningi olukhona njengamanje luthembele emibonweni yabaqashi, futhi kunedatha encane kakhulu ekhona mayelana nolwazi, amakhono kanye nezimompilo abanazo abafundi asebephothule iziqu zabo noma idatha ephathelene nomthelela walokhu emiphumeleni yokuqasheka kwabo. Lolu cwaningo luhlose ukuvala leli gebe ngokuthi lugxile ekuphatheni nokulawula ikhwalithi yokuthuthukiswa kokuqasheka kwabafundi asebephothule iziqu zabo ezikhungweni zemfundo ephakeme ngokusebenzisa ukufunda okuxubile. Ngalolu cwaningo kwabe kuhloswe ukuthola ulwazi olunzulu mayelana nemibono, ukuqonda, ukukhathazeka kanye nezimo abadlule kuzona abaphathi bezikhungo, abafundisi, abafundi asebephothule iziqu zabo kanye nezitshudeni esimweni soqobo abaphila ngaphansi kwaso lapho kusetshenziswa ukufunda okuxubile ukuze kwenziwe ngcono amathuba abo okuthi babe sebezuze ulwazi namakhono anohlonze ngenkathi bephothula iziqu zabo. Le nhloso yenza ukuthi indlela yocwaningo olukhwalithethivu kube ngefanelekile kulolu cwaningo. Le thisisi ihlinzeka umbiko mayelana nocwaningo lokuqhathanisa oluwumphumela walokhu olwenziwe phakathi kwesikhungo saseNingizimu Afrika kanye nesikhungo saseMelika kusetshenziswa izindlela ezihlukahlukene zokufunda okuxubile ngenhloso yokuqhathanisa izimo ezihlukahlukene ukuze kubhekwe izinto ezifanayo kanye nalezo ezihlukile kulezo zimo. Ukufaneleka komkhakha wezemfundo ephakeme waseNingizimu Afrika ukuqhathaniseka namazinga amazwe ngamazwe ekhwalithi yezemfundo, ulwazi kanye nobungoti kudinga ukuthi kulungiswe konke lokho okungahanjiswanga ngendlela efanele esikhathini esedlule futhi kulethwe izinguquko emkhakheni wezokufunda nokufundisa. Emnothweni wolwazi wekhulu-nyaka lama-21, oqhutshwa ngokwezinga elibanzi, elimaphakathi kanye nelincane, umkhakha wemfundo ephakeme unawo amandla okuhlinzeka ngabasebenzi abangaletha impumelelo nokusimama kwezenhlalo nakwezomnotho, futhi okungabasebenzi ababandakanya izinhlobo zabantu abavela emikhakheni yempilo ehlukahlukene kanye nasezigabeni zomphakathi ezihlukahlukene. Abstract:
Thesis on the topic of the possibilities and limits of using the method of mystery shopping in the measurement of the public services quality is intended to introduce the method of mystery shopping and to evaluate the possibility of its use in the public services quality measurement through its application. Quality is a broad term which is associated with many definitions. Public services have many specifics compared to the private ones, dominated by the lack of profit and focus on meeting the public interest. Even the definition of quality and performance standards in the public sector differs from those in the private sector. Mystery shopping, which is heavily used in measuring the level of service quality in the private sector occurs rarely in the common practice of public services. The public sector is declaratively for several decades focused on the quality of its services. We can identify a clear commitment to achieving quality perceived from the perspective of actual customer which is represented by the approach of good governance, promoted by the UN, to the National Quality Policy and Strategy of national policy to quality strategy Smart administration. Strategy and objectives are accompanied by a number of methods to standardize, manage and measure the quality of public services, which are...

Abstract:
The objective of current study is to understand the situation of employment and the entrance level salary for graduates in China of recent years. According to the literature review, we assumed three hypotheses regarding individual competence based on the theory of human capital. The data in this research came from two sources: (1) the official channels, including reports and statistics published by the Ministry of Education or the National Statistics Bureau in China. (2) non-governmental channels, including investigation and research work by the institutions independent in China. Our analysis showed that Chinese graduates were exposed in a oversupply labor market. However, some personal character in academic background, such as the teaching quality, education level and study subject, may have an impact on employment and entrance level salary to some degree. In the end we draw a conclusion with Chinese-style solution, which aims at reducing the problem of unemployment.
