Abstract:
A detailed study of photosensitivity and noise characteristics of ultrafast InGaAsP / InP avalanche photodiodes (APDs) with separate absorption, grading, charge and multiplication regions was carried out. Carrier multiplication and noise factors were evaluated. Noise origin in investigated APDs is 1/f, generation-recombination and shot noises. Different quality samples have been investigated and it is shown that noise characteristics well reflect APD quality problems. It is shown that low-frequency noise and excess shot noise characteristics are very sensitive to the APD quality problems and clear up physical processes in device structure. Noise characteristic analyses can be used for the APD quality problems revealing and optimal design development.

Abstract:
The product smaller-the-better (STB) quality characteristics are continually changing and out of specification limits because of the constant stress, wear and others after the product is put into use, which will cause loss because of the product rejected and scrapped. On the basis of the quality viewpoint that product quality loss is present worth of a loss caused as a result of its quality characteristics because its quality characteristic is out of specification and lead to product scrap after the product is put into service, the paper establishes the present worth model of quality loss of STB characteristic based on service life distribution, and proposes the calculation method on the probability density function (PDF) of the product service life based on the technical specifications of STB quality characteristic. It takes the concentricity between the inner cylindrical surface and the outer cylindrical surface of the link bushing as an example to analysis the various factors that impact on the present worth of concentricity quality loss in the new model, and contrast with Taguchi quality loss model. The results show that the new model describes an actual loss that a product imparts to society after the product is put into service, and can reflect the quality loss of STB characteristic in the product service process, and is more realistic than Taguchi quality loss model of STB. The new model extends tolerance design of STB characteristic from the manufacturing stage to the service stage.

Abstract:
At the present time, the international standards and technical reports for system and software product quality are dispersed in several series of normative documents (ISO/IEC 9126, ISO/IEC 14598, ISO/IEC 12119 etc.). These documents are not purely consistent and do not contain a tools for exact requirements set-ups. As quality is defined as a degree to which the set of inherent characteristic fulfils requirements, the exact requirement formulation is the key point for the quality measurement evaluation. This paper presents the framework for quality requirements for software, which is recommendable to use in the new international standard series ISO/IEC 250xx developed on the SQuaRE (Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation) standardisation research project. The main part of this contribution was presented on the conference Agrarian Perspectives XIV, organised by the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague, September 20 to 21, 2005.

Abstract:
Whether it is important components of a machine tool itself or various important components processed by the machine tool, many vital quality characteristics mostly belong to the smaller-the-better type. When the process quality levels of these quality characteristics do not attain to the criteria, friction loss may increase during the machine operation, affecting not only the process precision and accuracy but also the lifetime of the product. Therefore, this study applied a smaller-the-better six-sigma quality index simultaneously demonstrating process quality level and process yield. Besides, in coping with statistical process control data, a one-tail confidence-interval-based fuzzy testing method was developed to evaluate process quality. Because this approach is built on the basis of confidence intervals, it can reduce the possibility of misjudgment resulting from sampling errors as well as integrate past experience to enhance the accuracy and precision of the assessment, and then it can grasp the timeliness of improvement.

Abstract:
The double exponentially weighted moving average (DEWMA) control chart has been observed to be more sensitive than the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart for process monitoring assuming that the quality characteristic follows the normal distribution. In this paper, the DEWMA control chart is proposed for monitoring quality characteristics that follow the exponential distribution using variable transformation technique. The in-control and out-of-control average run lengths (ARLs) of the proposed control chart is obtained for equal and unequal smoothing constants. The performance of the proposed control chart with equal and unequal smoothing constants was investigated and compared with recent existing control charts in terms of the out-of-control average run lengths. Real life example is given to demonstrate the application of the proposed chart. The findings show that the performance of the proposed control chart outweighs existing control charts in the monitoring of process parameter when the quality variable follows exponential distribution for all shift sizes.

Abstract:
Financial reporting quality is one the most interesting topics which draw a great deal of attention to researchers and scientists in the field of accounting (Céline Michailesco, 2010). In the review of research on financial information from 1980 to 2016, Pham (2016) found that characteristics of useful financial information are relatively diverse with as many as 15 attributes being identified. In addition, he also found that all research in any period has employed the characteristics published by professional associations such as American Institute of Accountants, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB as theoretical basis. Research on the quality of financial information is diverse yet have many things in common, above all is the Relevance characteristic which considered to be the basic qualitative component of the quality of financial information in financial statements. Conceptual Framework officially issued by FASB & IASB in 2010 (FASB & IASB 2010) has further confirmed Relevance is the basic quality component of financial information. Compared with previous announcements, there has been a considerable change in the criteria and attributes used to evaluate the appropriateness of Relevance characteristic of financial information in financial statements. This study aims at confirming the importance of the Relevance component in evaluating the quality of financial information, clarifyingg the characteristics of Relevance measurement before and after Conceptual Framework 2010 and constructing relevant scales as well as measuring the qualitative characteristic of Relevance among enterprises in Vietnam.

Abstract:
Optical lenses are extensively used to enhance the performance of light-emitting diodes. Both uniformity and efficiency are important performance indicators in lens design; however, improving uniformity always lowers efficiency. In this study, the Taguchi method and principal component analysis (PCA) are integrated to optimise the lens shape for two quality objectives, namely, uniformity and efficiency. The Taguchi method was conducted twice to establish the signal/noise ratio of the two quality characteristics for calculating the principal components in PCA. Then, the optimum parameters obtained by the Taguchi method were processed by PCA. The correlated individual responses were converted to the principal components which explained most of the dataset and were considered as the single quality characteristic for the optimisation. The combined method resolved the difficulties of optimising multiple quality characteristics without sacrificing any particular quality characteristic while the traditional Taguchi method can only be applied to the single quality characteristic. A LED light source fitted with a secondary lens designed by the proposed method showed over 92% light efficiency and an improvement in uniformity.

Abstract:
Abstract Since governments all over the world are paying more attention to water quality in water distribution systems (WDS), a method based on mass balance and first-order chlorine decay model was proposed to assess the efficiency of WDS involving water quality (represented by residual chlorine). The concepts of surplus chlorine factor (S) for nodes in individual pipes and comprehensive surplus chlorine factor (CS) for nodes in WDS were put forward to represent the water quality characteristic of nodes in WDS based on the assumption that the structure of the pipe network and quantity of chlorine dose are definite. The proposed method was applied to two examples of WDS and sensitivity analysis regarding chlorine decay coefficient (k0) was discussed. The results indicated that values of CS for nodes in WDS are affected by the inflow of nodes, which is determined by water demand and pipe length from water sources to nodes. In addition, the value of CS increases with k0 when the inflow of the node is larger than the optimized inflow. The results verified that the deduction of S for a single pipe can be generalized to WDS, and can measure the water quality characteristics for nodes in WDS easily.

Abstract:
AbstractThe aim of the research is to propose the method for forming an indicator of compactness of a populated population and to test it. The comparative analysis, structuring, geospatial modelling methods have been used in the research. Land use management and development regulation, which is carried out by urban planning documentation, is the spatial frame for sustainable territory development. Forming of quantitative and qualitative indicator system that characterises the level of urban development of a settlement is an overriding issue for state estimation of settlement development. Management decisions on land use management should be made taking into account the evaluation results. The compact form is an essential basis for the efficient and stable use of the settlement territorial resources. There is no single evaluation technique of settlement compactness; there are a variety of approaches and methods for the assessment of settlement form. The compactness level in this study is estimated by a system of indicators that attests to the multiplicity of land uses and the degree of accessibility to basic services and leisure facilities. The determining technique of component compactness has been tested in evaluating the planning structure of Kyiv. All planning quarters are rated according to a five-level rating scale. For each classification group, general recommendations have been developed to improve the land use system aimed at improving the compactness of the settlement. The results of compactness assessment can be used through geoinformation monitoring tools in the provision of administrative services as justification for managerial decision-making.

Abstract:
The paper presents new ideas in the International SQuaRE (Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation) standardisation research project, which concerns the development of a special branch of international standards for software quality. Data can be considered as an integral part of software. The current international standard and technical report of the ISO/IEC 9126, ISO/IEC 14598 series and ISO/IEC 12119 standard covert the whole software as an indivisible entity. However, such data sets as databases and data stores have a special character and need a different structure of quality characteristic. Therefore it was decided in the SQuaRE project create a special international standard for data quality. The main idea for this standard and the critical discussion of these ideas is presented in this paper. The main part of this contribution was presented on the conference Agricultural Perspectives XIV, aligned by Czech University of Agriculture in Prague, September 20 to 21, 2005.

Abstract:
Tolerance design plays a very important in any manufacturing process because this activity directly influences products cost and quality. In design activity the designer solve the quality problems selecting tight tolerances for components but this generates cost increasing. The practical problem is to assure the high quality characteristics using the maximum tolerances for components that influence them. The paper’s aim is to find optimal parameters setting which assure the desire value of quality characteristics using the DoE (Design of Experiments), and to find a mathematical model and a respective quality characteristic function of the parameters that it was influenced. Using the mathematical function, by imposing the desired tolerance for quality characteristic, it will be allocated the optimal tolerance for components. This tolerance allocation will be verified using Monte-Carlo method.

Abstract:
Machine tools are fundamental equipment in industrial production, and their processing quality exerts a direct impact on the quality of the component product that they process. Thus, machine tool manufacturers develop various machine tools depending on market needs and processing functions, and the processed component products generally possess multiple smaller-the-better, larger-the-better, and nominal-the-best quality characteristics at the same time. For this reason, this study employed the widely used process capability indices, [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] to develop a model that can evaluate the process quality of component products and analyze the processing quality of various machine tools. We first converted the process capability indices into functions of the accuracy and precision indices and constructed a multi-characteristic quality analysis chart that can identify the reason for poor process quality in a quality characteristic. Furthermore, considering the fact that the process capability indices can only be estimated, which may lead to misjudgment in the evaluation of process quality, we derived the [Formula: see text] upper confidence limits of indices and the coordinates formed by the corresponding accuracy and precision indices. Manufacturers can then evaluate the process quality levels of the quality characteristics based on where the coordinates falls in the multi-characteristic quality analysis chart. This can more reliably assist manufacturers in monitoring the processing quality of their machine tools and providing feedback to the machine tool manufacturers for machine improvement.

Abstract:
Using the harmonic balance method, analytical formulas are obtained for calculating the amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics, as well as the quality factor of the forced oscillations of a linear fractional oscillator. It was established that the characteristics under study depend on the dissipative properties of the medium - memory effects, which are described by derivatives of fractional orders. It is shown that fractional orders affect the attenuation of the oscillatory process and are associated with its quality factor. The calculated curves of the characteristics of the forced oscillations of a linear linear fractional oscillator showed that fractional orders can be considered as control parameters of the oscillatory process in a dissipative medium. Key words: quality factor, amplitude-frequency characteristic, phase-frequency characteristic, fractional derivatives, memory.

Abstract:
The variability of characteristic components of aronia (Aronia melanocarpa, black chokeberry) and to evaluate the chemical composition and quality of aronia products in order to complete the already available data and to facilitate authentication of fruit products were estimated. The mean values obtained for the set of aronia fruits were: soluble solids 19.9 °Brix, titratable acidity 9.8 g malic acid/kg, formol number 11.9 ml 0.1M NaOH/100 g, ash 6.7 g/kg, phosphorus 0.34 g/kg, potassium 2.90 g/kg, calcium 0.27 g/kg, magnesium 0.16 g/kg, sucrose 0.10 g/kg, glucose 47.1 g/kg, fructose 37.8 g/kg, sorbitol 66.1 g/kg, malic acid 9.6 g/kg, citric acid 1.0 g/kg, quinic acid 5.0 g/kg, isocitric acid 0.02 g/kg. These values can potentially be a useful tool to determine aronia content in foodstuffs or to determine adulteration of other fruit-based products with aronia. The most promising markers appeared to be the content of sorbitol, quinic acid and characteristic profile of anthocyanins measured by HPLC.

Abstract:
The surface quality of components has the important influence on the components’ operational performance, characteristic of the geometry topography and statistical Characteristic is the important aspect of the surface quality. This study takes the arithmetic mean deviation of the assessed profile (Ra) to reflect the altitude characteristic of the surface profile, takes the mean width of the profile elements (Sm) to reflect the width characteristic of the surface profile, takes the material ratio of the profile (tp) to reflect the shape characteristic of the surface profile and takes the altitude density function φ(z) and autocorrelation function R(l) to reflect the statistical characteristic. Four groups of experiments are carried out in which 1Cr18Ni9Ti is taken as the material object of the test piece and test pieces with different initial surface roughness are polished. By experiment, the changing rules of the value of Ra, Sm, tp, φ(z) and R(l) after different polishing time are obtained. By analyzing the changing rules of Ra, Sm, tp, φ(z) and R(l), the influence of the Electrochemical Polishing (ECP) process on the surface geometry and statistical characteristic is obtained.

Abstract:
Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is useful for manufacturing complex structures; however, factors affecting the forming quality have not been clearly researched. This study aimed to clarify the influence of geometric characteristic size on the forming quality of solid struts. Ti–6Al–4V struts with a square section on the side length (0.4 to 1.4 mm) were fabricated with different scan speeds. Micro-computed tomography was used to detect the struts’ profile error and defect distribution. Scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy were used to characterize the samples’ microstructure. Nanoindentation tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties. The experimental results illustrated that geometric characteristic size influenced the struts’ physical characteristics by affecting the cooling condition. This size effect became obvious when the geometric characteristic size and the scan speed were both relatively small. The solid struts with smaller geometric characteristic size had more obvious size error. When the geometric characteristic size was smaller than 1 mm, the nanohardness and elastic modulus increased with the increase in scan speed, and decreased with the decline of the geometric characteristic size. Therefore, a relatively high scan speed should be selected for LPBF—the manufacturing of a porous structure, whose struts have small geometric characteristic size.
