Abstract:
The analysis of quality of service (QoS) and user experience (QoE) has become a major focus in network development. This research adopts a holistic approach to examine the close relationship between QoS and QoE in a rapidly evolving network environment. We review the impact of the interaction between technical aspects (QoS) and user perception (QoE) in the context of multimedia services and high-speed networks. We analyse various QoS evaluation methods as well as factors affecting QoE, considering the dynamics of changes in user preferences. The review covers a wide range of related research conducted by key researchers in this field, including applied models and recent findings related to improving quality of service in modern networks.

Abstract:
The paper focuses on ensuring the quality-of-service (QoS) and quality-of-experience (QoE) requirements of users having heterogeneous devices in a multicast session. QoS parameters such as bit rate, delays, and packet losses are good indicators for optimizing network services but fall short in characterizing user perception (QoE). In N-Screen service, the users have different devices with heterogeneous attributes like screen size, resolution, and access network interface, and the users have different QoE on N-Screen devices with the same QoS parameters. We formulate the objective function of the N-Screen multicast grouping to ensure the minimum user’s QoE with smaller bandwidth requirement. We propose a dynamic user reassignment scheme to maintain and satisfy the QoE by adapting the user’s membership to the varying network conditions. The proposed schemes combine the available bandwidth and multimedia visual quality to ensure the QoS and QoE. In the network architecture, we introduce the functions of the QoS and QoE aware multicast group management and the estimation schemes for the QoS and QoE parameters. The simulation results show that the proposed multicast service ensures the network QoS and guarantees the QoE of users in the varying network conditions.

Abstract:
Satisfying a context consumer’s quality of context (QoC) requirements is important to context management platforms (CMPs) in order to have credibility. QoC indicates the contextual information’s quality metrics (e.g., accuracy, timeliness, completeness). The outcomes of these metrics depend on the functional and quality characteristics associated with all actors (context consumers (or) context-aware applications, CMPs, and context providers (or) IoT-data providers) in context-aware IoT environments. This survey identifies and studies such characteristics and highlights the limitations in actors’ current functionalities and QoC modelling approaches to obtain adequate QoC and improve context consumers’ quality of experience (QoE). We propose a novel concept system based on our critical analysis; this system addresses the functional limitations in existing QoC modelling approaches. Moreover, we highlight those QoC metrics affected by quality of service (QoS) metrics in CMPs. These recommendations provide CMP developers with a reference system they could incorporate, functionalities and QoS metrics to maintain in order to deliver an adequate QoC.

Quality of Service (QoS) requirements are possible with actual transmission of updates for wireless applications typically included in mission critical applications such as military use or disaster recovery. This research paper proposes an efficient Secure Quality Oriented Distributed (S-QOD) Secure Enhanced Adaptive 3 Acknowledgment (S-EA3ACK) and implements a new on-demand wireless intrusion detection system. S-QOD can improve a best performance of output quality (QoS) to reduce transmission delay, transmission time and also increase network communication throughput for S-EA3ACK using Enhanced Adaptive Acknowledgement (EAACK) DSA (Digital Signature Algorithm) with MAJE4 symmetric cryptography specially designed for MANET through Network Simulator-2.34 (NS2) to implement it.

Abstract:
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that can send real-time data with IP-based networks (Internet Protocol). In VoIP technology with wireless network has several problems that cause the performance of the network to be varied due to the QoS (Quality of Service) include delay, jitter, packet loss and MOS that affect the wireless network. This research uses G.711?, G.711a and G.729 codec based on SIP and IAX server on wireless network which then the QoS result from each codec compared with ITU-T standard which become the reference of whether the network is good or not so that later can realized on campus. In the research results, QoS on wireless IEEE 802.11 b has linear results, whereas QoS wireless in VoIP has fluctuating results because the use of codecs in VoIP on each codec has a large bitrate and different coding techniques and is a feature of wireless networks. The QoS comparison of three codecs produced the best G711 Q7S codecs because the G.711 codec has a bitrate that conforms to the 64 kbps voice communication standard and uses voice coding techniques that match the digital signal encoding technique of PCM (Pulse Code Modulation).

Abstract:
In our previous work, we proposed an Integrated Fuzzy-based Admission Control System (IFACS) for admission control in 5G wireless networks. In this paper, we present a new system by considering Service Level Agreement (SLA) as a new parameter. We call this system IFACS-Q3S. We also implemented a new scheme for Slice Overloading Cost (SOC), called Fuzzy-based Scheme for SOC (FSSOC). The SOC is used as a new input for the IFACS-Q3S system. The other input parameters for IFACS-Q3S are Quality of Service (QoS), Slice Priority (SP) and SLA. From simulation results, we conclude that the considered parameters have different effects on the acceptance decision. The increase of QoS, SP, and SLA caused an increase in the AD value, whereas the increase in SOC resulted in a decrease in the AD value. For SOC 0.3, when the QoS value is 0.1 and the SP value is 0.1, in the case when SLA is increased from 0.1 to 0.5 and 0.5 to 0.9, the AD is increased by 5% and 11%, respectively. On the other side, when the SLA value is 0.9, we see that AD is decreased 14% by increasing the SOC values from 0.3 to 0.8.

Abstract:
Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) are considered as self-configured network those does not have any centralized base station for the network monitoring and control. MANET environment does not control architecture for routing for the frequent maintenance of topology. The drastic development of Internet leads to adverse effect of development in MANET for different multimedia application those are sensitive to latency. Upon the effective maintenance of the QoS routing route discovery is performed to calculate queue and contention delay. However, the MANET requirement comprises of the complex procedure to withstand the Quality of Service (QoS) with Artificial Intelligence (AI). In MANET it is necessary to compute the MANET attacks with improved QoS with the reduced latency as existing model leads to higher routing and increased latency. In this paper proposed a Generative Boltzmann Networking Weighted Graph (GBNWG) model for the QoS improvement in MANET to reduce latency. With GBNWG model the MANET model network performance are computed with the weighted graph model. The developed weighted graph computes the routes in the MANET network for the estimation of the available path in the routing metrices. The proposed GBNWG model is comparatively estimated with the conventional QOD technique. Simulation analysis stated that GBNWG scheme exhibits the improved performance in the QoS parameters. The GBNWG scheme improves the PDR value by 12%, 41% reduced control packets and 45% improved throughput value.

Quality of Service (QoS) is an important criterion for Web service selection. The work in this paper is based on QoS Information & Computation framework (QoS-IC) [1]. QoS-IC framework supports QoS-based service selection in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), namely Web services. In this paper, we extend the functionality of QoS-IC framework with QoS-Constraints Model. QoS-Constraints establish an association relationship between different QoS properties and are used to govern the QoS-based service selection in the underlying algorithm. We have enhanced the algorithm to accommodate QoS-Constraints and discussed an experimental evaluation based on an implementation prototype that shows how QoS-Constraints introduce efficiency to the QoS-based service selection mechanism and save valuable time for consumers.

Abstract:
Wireless Network Controlled Systems (WNCSs) are a new area of research which concerns the implementation of control strategy over wireless networks. Therefore, many potential applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) span a wide spectrum in various domains. The dependability of the WNCSs becomes a strong requirement due to real-time requirements of control. The Quality of Control (QoC) is performed through optimally allocating the network resources to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) and optimally designing controller to compensate for time delays in the control feedback loop. The IEEE 802.11b standard is a really widespread wireless network. However, some QoS properties are missing, compared to more specific protocols, such as 802.15.4. In this paper, the authors present the implementation of an extended model of the IEEE 802.11b standard in order to add more QoS properties through the use of CSMA/CA with the combination of the frame selection sort and the First Come First Served (FCFS) scheduling methods. The control performances of the new model are compared to those of IEEE 802.15.4 with QoS. Several improvements are achieved including a reduction in the number of collisions and priority-based flow control.

Abstract:
The development of wireless networks brings people great convenience. More state-of-the-art communication protocols of wireless networks are getting mature. People attach more importance to the QoS provisioning in heterogeneous wireless networks. This study proposes a cross-layer-based mobility management Quality-of-Service (QoS) architecture that includesthe QoS manager、the cross-layer scheme and the access control algorithm. In order to provide the QoS support for mobile user, the overall architecture for QoS management is required in heterogeneous wireless environment, where various mobile users are connected to the different access network through the core network. The QoS manager is composed of ANQM (Access Network QoS Manger) and IANQM (Inter-Access Network QoS Manger) which are used to provide consistent QoS management over an integrated wireless access network environment. The access control algorithm is based on the QoS mapping mechanism between the access network and the core network. The simulation result shows that the QoS for mobile user is guaranteed more effectively and this mechanism provides an end-to-end QoS between different access networks.

Abstract:
MANETs (Mobile Adhoc Networks) has gained an increased interest by the research community. Regular intelligent exchanges of multimedia will be typical in MANET, though the extended motivation on QoS (Quality of Service). However, various properties of the discussed QoS framework are provisioned for QoS as a challenging concern. Providing QoS provisioning is, to a great degree, challenging in MANETs in view of bouncing correspondences, center point movability and nonattendance of central coordination. Thus, most of the research has focused on giving QoS guarantees in MANETs coordinating traditions. Though huge numbers of QoS coordinating procedures have been proposed in composing, focusing on different QoS estimations yet none of the prescribed or discussed frameworks achieves a universal course of action. There exist several genuine necessary research areas of focus such as QoS metric assurance and cost limit layout, source level scheduling framework and QoS coordinating. In this paper, working and connecting of various QoS frameworks for MANETs is investigated throughout several veritable focus areas of research. After a comparative review, it is concluded that there is still a good scope of research for proposing a QoS framework for MANETs which could have cross-layer advantages, resource reservation, connection admission control, multi-constrained QoS parameters, hard QoS assurance, proactive routing advantages etc.

Abstract:
Several Quality of Service (QoS) architectures and mechanisms have been proposed by standardisation bodies. However, those proposals were not always aligned with the spirit of IP networks. Furthermore, most research activities have focused to date on supporting QoS only within a singleadministrative domain. In this paper, we demonstrate that it is possible to provision QoS-enabled services that maintain the ability to easily connect any pair of users worldwide. For this purpose, we introduce the notion of Meta-QoS-Class and demonstrate its relevance for building QoS-enabled services across multiple domains. We then show how a QoS-enhanced Border Gateway Protocol (q-BGP) can be used together with Meta-QoS-Classes, for building a set of parallel Internet planes with different QoS capabilities. This concept opens up a new perspective for a global QoS-based Internet.

Abstract:
The development, registration, discovery, and invocation of quality Web services are vital for the successful implementation of applications using Web services. Considerable research focuses on quality for Web services. Unfortunately, current research on Quality of Service (QoS) for Web services is concentrated on service users and the implementation stage. This research highlights the importance of incorporating QoS at the design and development stages; the authors propose the introduction of QoS at the same time as functional requirements. However, Web Service Description Language (WSDL) describes the functional elements of a Web service, and QoS is significant for this description. Therefore, the authors propose an extension to the WSDL through a generic QoS metamodel, incorporating QoS specifications into the functionalities. This paper begins by defining the required QoS specifications for the development of quality Web services and explores the potential of the Unified Modeling Language as a technique and notation to specify QoS. To properly integrate QoS in the design, the authors propose extensions to the existing UML QoS profile. The paper concludes with the evaluation of the proposed framework and summarises its advantages.

Abstract:
The characteristics of service computing environment, such as service loose coupling, resource heterogeneity, and protocol independence, propose higher demand for the trustworthiness of service computing systems. Trust provisioning for composite services has become a hot research spot worldwide. In this paper, quality of service (QoS) planning techniques are introduced into service composition-oriented QoS provisioning architecture. By QoS planning, the overall QoS requirement of the composite service is decomposed into separate QoS requirement for every constituent atom service, the QoS level of which can subsequently be satisfied through well-designed service entity selection policies. For any single service entity, its QoS level is variable when the deployment environment or the load of service node changes. To mitigate the uncertainty, we put forward QoS preprocessing algorithms to estimate the future QoS levels of service entities with their history execution data. Then, based on the modeling of composite service and QoS planning, we design three algorithms, which include the time preference algorithm, cost/availability (C/A) preference algorithm, and Euclidean distance preference algorithm, to select suitable atomic services meeting the user’s requirements. Finally, by combining genetic algorithm and local-search algorithm, we propose memetic algorithm to meet the QoS requirements of composite service. The effectiveness of the proposed methods by which the QoS requirements can be satisfied up to 90% is verified through experiments.

Abstract:
The Quality of Service (QoS) is enforced in discovering an optimal web service (WS).The QoS is uncertain due to the fluctuating performance of WS in the dynamic cloud environment. We propose a Fuzzy based Bayesian Network (FBN) system for Efficient QoS prediction. The novel method comprises three processes namely Semantic QoS Annotation, QoS Prediction, and Adaptive QoS using cloud infrastructure. The FBN employs the compliance factor to measure the performance of QoS attributes and fuzzy inference rules to infer the service capability. The inference rules are defined according to the user preference which assists to achieve the user satisfaction. The FBN returns the optimal WSs from a set of functionally equivalent WS. The unpredictable and extreme access of the selected WS is handled using cloud infrastructure. The results show that the FBN approach achieves nearly 95% of QoS prediction accuracy when providing an adequate number of past QoS data, and improves the prediction probability by 2.6% more than that of the existing approach.

Abstract:
A cross layer QoS framework is a complete system that provides required QoS services to each node present in the network. All components within it cooperate together for providing the required services. In existing QoS frameworks there is no security mechanism provided while Security is a critical aspect for QoS in the MANET environment. Cross layer QoS framework tend to be vulnerable to a number of threats and attacks like, over/under-reporting of available bandwidth, over-reservation, state table starvation, QoS degradation, information disclosure, theft of services timing attack, flooding attack, replay attack, and denial of service (DoS) attack, attacks on information in transit and attacks against routing. So it is necessary when designing protocols for QoS framework, the harmony between security and QoS must be present as one impacts the others. In this work we proposed secure and proficient cross layer (SPCL) QoS frameworks which prevents from various types of threats and attacks. The proposed SPCL QoS framework achieves better performance compared to existing QoS frameworks in metrics of throughput, packet drop ratio, end-to-end delay, and average jitter in both condition when malicious node present in the network and when malicious node not present in the network

Abstract:
Now, a network operator must choose between two packet switched technologies for providing QoS in WAN networks, which are ATM and IP QoS [3, 4, 9]. As ATM has reached the maturity with capabilities for offering a number of different network services (i.e. CBR, VBR, ABR, UBR, GFR), the IP QoS with network services like expedited forwarding, assured forwarding, etc. is still at developing phase but nevertheless is commonly regarded as capable to guarantee in near future similar QoS level as ATM. This paper tries to compare the efficiency of the mentioned technologies (in case of IP QoS network the AQUILA network concept [1, 2] is investigated) for handling traffic generated by LANs with QoS differentiation. This is extremely required since the applications running in LAN differ in QoS requirements and emitted traffic profiles (streaming, elastic). Therefore, a classification process of outgoing LAN traffic into predefined sub-streams should be performed at the entry point to WAN network (edge ATM switch or IP router). Furthermore, particular sub-streams are submitted to adequate WAN network service, available in ATM or IP QoS. The paper presents the experimental results, measured in the test bed, corresponding to QoS level and QoS differentiation provided by ATM and IP QoS core. For this purpose, a set of representative applications currently available to a LAN user was selected demanding from the core different QoS level. They correspond to streaming applications like VoIP with QoS objectives represented mainly by packet delay characteristics and elastic applications controlled by TCP protocol with minimum guaranteed throughput/goodput as target.

Abstract:
With the rise of mobile edge computing (MEC), mobile services with the same or similar functions are gradually increasing. Usually, Quality of Service (QoS) has become an indicator to measure high-quality services. In the real MEC service invocation environment, due to time and network instability factors, users’ QoS data feedback results are limited. Therefore, effectively predicting the Qos value to provide users with high-quality services has become a key issue. In this paper, we propose a truncated nuclear norm Low-rank Tensor Completion method for the QoS data prediction. This method represents complex multivariate QoS data by constructing tensors. Furthermore, the truncated nuclear norm is introduced in the QoS data tensor completion in order to mine the correlation between QoS data and improve the prediction accuracy. At the same time, the general rate parameter is introduced to control the truncation degree of tensor mode. Finally, the prediction approximate tensor is obtained by the Alternating Direction Multiplier Method iterative optimization algorithm. Numerical experiments are conducted based on the public QoS dataset WS-Dream. The results indicate that our QoS prediction method has better prediction accuracy than other methods under different missing density QoS data.

Abstract:
Quality of service (QoS) is a very important concept in service-oriented architecture (SOA). While there is a growing body of study on QoS-based service selection based on SOA, there is little research on analyzing QoS factors from the viewpoints of IT workers and researchers. As a result, the purpose of the current study aims to offer an integrated fuzzy VIKOR-TOPSIS-DEMATEL approach framework for evaluating QoS factors of online services from the viewpoint of experts in a fuzzy environment. A numerical assessment of the QoS factors for a case firm in Ghana indicated that the suggested technique is appropriate for the problem. Furthermore, the technique outcomes divided QoS factors into cause-effect variables, ranked QoS factors, and lastly, suggested conflicting QoS factors. The results from the Fuzzy DEMATEL aspect of the proposed approach found integrity, availability, accessibility, compliance, documentation, latency, and adaptability as causal variables. While response time, cost/price, reliability, performance, security, reputation, throughput, best practices, success ability, encryption, portability, storage, and consistency are regarded as influential variables. The Fuzzy TOPSIS aspect of the technique found adaptability, documentation, consistency, transaction, and accessibility are the most ranked QoS factors of online services. The fuzzy VIKOR side of the proposed method discovers integrity, cost, and latency as incommensurable QoS factors. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was carried out, and the results show the model is robust. This study confirms the position of existing knowledge on sensitivity analysis in the QoS literature. In the issue of QoS factor evaluation, this work effectively blended three MCDM techniques. The study's shortcoming stems from its reliance on data from QoS specialists from only one developing nation (i.e. Ghana).

Abstract:
Purpose Multimedia applications such as digital audio and video have stringent quality of service (QoS) requirement in mobile ad hoc network. To support wide range of QoS, complex routing protocols with multiple QoS constraints are necessary. In QoS routing, the basic problem is to find a path that satisfies multiple QoS constraints. Moreover, mobility, congestion and packet loss in dynamic topology of network also leads to QoS performance degradation of protocol. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, the authors proposed a multi-path selection scheme for QoS aware routing in mobile ad hoc network based on fractional cuckoo search algorithm (FCS-MQARP). Here, multiple QoS constraints energy, link life time, distance and delay are considered for path selection. Findings The experimentation of proposed FCS-MQARP is performed over existing QoS aware routing protocols AOMDV, MMQARP, CS-MQARP using measures such as normalized delay, energy and throughput. The extensive simulation study of the proposed FCS-based multipath selection shows that the proposed QoS aware routing protocol performs better than the existing routing protocol with maximal energy of 99.1501 and minimal delay of 0.0554. Originality/value This paper presents a hybrid optimization algorithm called the FCS algorithm for the multi-path selection. Also, a new fitness function is developed by considering the QoS constraints such as energy, link life time, distance and delay.

Abstract:
Purpose In this paper, a Quality of Service-sensitive customer behavior model graph (QoS-CBMG) is proposed for use in service quality adaptation in e-commerce systems. Success in achieving customer satisfaction and maximizing profit in e-commerce is highly dependent on the QoS provided. However, providing high-level QoS for all customers in all Web sessions is often deemed costly and inefficient. Therefore, a QoS-sensitive model for formulating QoS-aware offers to customers is required. The paper aims to respond to this necessity. Design/methodology/approach Process mining is adopted as the knowledge extraction technique for developing a QoS-CBMG. If it is assumed that user navigation on a website is a process, then clickstreams during one user’s navigations can be considered process steps. Findings The application of both QoS-CBMG (the new model) and CBMG (the classic version) to the same real data set demonstrated that the proposed method outperforms CBMG due to its reduction of average absolute error in the measurement scale. This finding also verifies the assumption that customer behavior is sensitive to the level of QoS. Research limitations/implications From a theoretical viewpoint, the obtained QoS-CBMG facilitates the adaption in e-commerce systems, which leads to conduct the user to the desired behavior by tuning QoS levels in different Web sessions in a dynamic manner. This implication is due to the fact that QoS-CBMG can predict the upcoming clickstream of the customer at different QoS levels. Practical implications Using the proposed model for the adaptation of service quality in e-commerce websites not only results in the efficient management of the provider’s resources but also encourages customer purchases from the website and increases profitability. It is noteworthy that with the advent of cloud computing, e-commerce websites are enabled to provide various levels of QoS for their customers by supplying their basic services (e.g. infrastructure, platform) through cloud platforms. Originality/value According to the best of our knowledge, no previous model has taken into account the QoS dimension for customer behavior modeling. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a CBMG that is sensitive to the QoS provided to customers during their navigation to formulate QoS-aware offers to them.

Abstract:
The internet protocol television service (IPTV) has become a key product for internet service providers (ISP), offering several benefits to both ISP and end-users. Because packet networks based on internet protocol have not been prepared for time-sensitive services, such as voice or video, packet networks have had to adopt several mechanisms to secure minimal transmission standards in the form of data stream prioritization. There are two commonly used approaches for video quality assessment. The first approach needs an original source for comparison (full-reference objective metrics), and the second one requires observers for subjective evaluation of video quality. Both approaches are impractical in real-time transmission because it is difficult to transform an objective score into a subjective quality perception, and on the other hand, subjective tests are not able to be performed immediately. Since many countries worldwide put IPTV on the same level as other broadcasting systems (e.g., terrestrial, cable, or satellite), IPTV services are subject to regulation by the national regulation authority. This results in the need to prepare service qualitative criteria and monitoring tools capable of measuring end-user satisfaction levels. Our proposed model combines the principles of both assessment approaches, which results in an effective monitoring solution. Therefore, the main contribution of the created system is to offer a monitoring tool able to analyze the features extracted from the video sequence and transmission system and promptly translate their impact into a subjective point of view.

Abstract:
MANETs (Mobile Ad-hoc Networks) is the self organizing wireless structure of mobile hosts. Wireless media is used for communication in MANETs. Considering the developing requirements for multimedia and real-time traffic applications in real world, QoS (Quality-of-Service) support is essential in MANETs. But most of the characteristics of MANETs make QoS support a difficult problem. It is challenging to support QoS routing in MANET due to dynamic behavior and mobility of the hosts. The OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol can be efficiently used in MANETs to provide QoS routing because of its dynamic MPR (Multi Point Relay) selection criteria and proactive nature. In this paper, a design of QoS routing framework integrated with OLSR protocol is proposed and also analyzed using network simulator. Proposed QoS framework combines a bandwidth estimation algorithm with explicit resource reservation, QoS routing and connection admission control (CAC). OLSR protocol is extended for QoS framework to solve performance issues related to node mobility using cross layer approach. Results after simulation conclude about efficiency of the proposed QoS routing framework.

Abstract:
The universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) has distinct benefits in that it supports a wide range of quality of service (QoS) criteria that users require in order to fulfill their requirements. The transmission of video and audio in real-time applications places a high demand on the cellular network, therefore QoS is a major problem in these applications. The ability to provide QoS in the UMTS backbone network necessitates an active QoS mechanism in order to maintain the necessary level of convenience on UMTS networks. For UMTS networks, investigation models for end-to-end QoS, total transmitted and received data, packet loss, and throughput providing techniques are run and assessed and the simulation results are examined. According to the results, appropriate QoS adaption allows for specific voice and video transmission. Finally, by analyzing existing QoS parameters, the QoS performance of 4G/UMTS networks may be improved.

The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has adapted the Internet-Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as a service delivery platform for the Next Generation Networks (NGN). IMS offers multimedia services over Internet Protocol (IP) based infrastructure. These services require a mechanism to manage Quality-of-Service (QoS). The current 3GPP QoS standards are based on Policy Based QoS Management architecture which provisions QoS in a single IMS domain, but users may be located in different IMS domains, or roaming between deferent IMS domains. This raise issues regarding management of QoS across IMS domains. In this paper we will identify these issues in the current IMS Policy Based QoS Management architecture and propose a mechanism for Inter-domain QoS management based on the IMS platform.

Abstract:
With the advent of the paradigm of the Internet of Things, many computing elements need many modifications to promote Quality of Service (QoS). Quality of Service is a pillar that promotes real-time reaction to time-critical tasks. Any impediments to QoS should be resolved and handled. In 2012, fog computing was implemented to enhance QoS in current systems in a bid to tackle QoS problems encountered by using cloud computing alone. Currently, the primary focus in fog computing is now on enhancing QoS. The primary goal of this study is, therefore, to critically review and evaluate the literature on the work done to improve elements of QoS in fog computing. This study begins by examining the roots of history, characteristics, and advantages of fog computing. Secondly, it discusses the important elements of QoS parameters. Finally, open problems that still affect fog computing are identified and discussed in order to achieve enhanced QoS.

Abstract:
IPv6 is the core protocol of Future Internet. Thus, IPv6 based QoS (Quality of Service) routing mechanisms need to be developed to support diverse QoS requirements of new network applications. In this paper, an IPv6 based QoS unicast routing mechanism is proposed based on OSPFv3 and BGP4 +. By introducing QoS state message and extending the link state database and link state advertisement, the collection, storage and release of intra-domain QoS information are realized. By introducing NLRI (Network Layer Reachability Information) which supports QoS, the release and revocation of inter-domain QoS routing information are realized. The mechanism not only provides QoS support, but also is compatible with the existing routing protocols. It can be quickly and effectively deployed in networks. A prototype implementation of the proposed mechanism is completed, which is tested under a video conference application over the CERNET2 topology. The results indicate that it is feasible and effective with good performance.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a framework for quality of service (QoS) control in WLAN-based converged personal network service (CPNS). First, we show that the CPNS devices in WLANs occupy the shared wireless channel in an unfair manner; and thus, QoS is degraded. The reasons of such problem are analyzed from two viewpoints of (i) channel access mechanism according to carrier sensing multiple access protocol of WLAN and (ii) TCP congestion control mechanism in response to packet loss. To improve QoS and assure fair channel sharing, we propose an integrated QoS control framework consisting of admission control and rate control. Based on the available capacity, the admission control determines whether or not a specific QoS service can be admitted. The rate control is implemented using congestion window control or token bucket algorithm. The proposed mechanism differentiates QoS service from best-effort (BE) service such that the QoS service is preferentially served to satisfy its QoS requirements and the BE service is served to share the remaining resource in a fair manner. The extensive simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme assures QoS and fair channel sharing for WLAN-based CPNS.

Abstract:
Increasing efficiency and quality demands of modern Internet technologies drive today’s network engineers to seek to provide quality of service (QoS). Internet QoS provisioning gives rise to several challenging issues. This paper introduces a generic distributed QoS adaptive routing engine (DQARE) architecture based on OSPFxQoS. The innovation of the proposed work in this paper is its undependability on the used QoS architectures and, moreover, splitting of the control strategy from data forwarding mechanisms, so we guarantee a set of absolute stable mechanisms on top of which Internet QoS can be built. DQARE architecture is furnished with three relevant traffic control schemes, namely, service differentiation, QoS routing, and traffic engineering. The main objective of this paper is to (i) provide a general configuration guideline for service differentiation, (ii) formalize the theoretical properties of different QoS routing algorithms and then introduce a QoS routing algorithm (QOPRA) based on dynamic programming technique, and (iii) propose QoS multipath forwarding (QMPF) model for paths diversity exploitation. NS2-based simulations proved the DQARE superiority in terms of delay, packet delivery ratio, throughput, and control overhead. Moreover, extensive simulations are used to compare the proposed QOPRA algorithm and QMPF model with their counterparts in the literature.

Abstract:
The service network is capable of addressing large-scale service composition. However, existing service network works still have several limitations. Prior knowledge, such as expert-defined service chains, is not incorporated into the service network. QoS constraints are less considered in the service network, and thus the generated service chain does not always satisfy the optimal QoS constraints. Additionally, some basic services also require outputs to be used directly as inputs, which the service network cannot provide. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a geospatial service web (GSW) model named SR-QoS-GSW that incorporates service semantic relationships and QoS information. The SR-QoS-GSW model consists of atomic services and composite services that consider QoS, processing services, data services, and relationships among them. A SR-QoS-GSW prototype was developed using 570 atomic services and 27 composite services and evaluated using two case studies—a river network extraction and an urban housing selection. Then, the information entropy and time complexity between SR-QoS-GSW and the existing service network were compared. The results show that geospatial service chains can be created more efficiently by incorporating existing service chains as composite services. Integrating QoS information into the GSW would allow service composition algorithms to generate service chains that satisfy optimal QoS constraints. The outputs of services used as new inputs with additional self-matching relationships also give the service network greater flexibility. Finally, the analysis of the information entropy and time complexity verified the increased diversity and decreased the search space of the SR-QoS-GSW.

Abstract:
With the great development of mobile services, the Quality of Services (QoS) becomes an essential factor to meet end users’ personalized requirement on the nonfunctional performance of mobile services. However, most of the QoS values in real cases are unattainable because a service user would only invoke some specific mobile services. Therefore, how to predict the missing QoS values and recommend high-quality services to end users becomes a significant challenge in mobile service recommendation research. Previous QoS prediction researches demonstrate that the nonfunctional performance of mobile services is closely related to users’ location information. However, most location-aware QoS prediction methods ignore the premise that the obtainable QoS values observed by different users in same location region would probably be untrustworthy, which will lead to inaccurate and unreliable prediction results. To make credible location-aware QoS prediction, we propose a hybrid matrix factorization method integrated location and reputation information (LRMF) to predict the unattainable QoS values. Our approach firstly cluster users into different locational region based on their geographical distribution, and then we compute users’ reputation to identify untrustworthy users in every locational region. Finally, the unknown QoS values can be predicted by integrating locational cluster information and users’ reputation into a hybrid matrix factorization model. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on a public QoS dataset which contains sufficient real-world service invocation records. The evaluation results indicate that our LRMF method can effectively reduce the impact of unreliable users on QoS prediction and make credible mobile service recommendation.

Abstract:
Software is gradually becoming more built by composing web services to support enterprise applications integration; thus, making the process of composing web services a significant topic. The Quality of Service (QoS) in web service composition plays a crucial role. As such, it is important to guarantee, monitor, and enforce QoS and ability to handle failures during execution. Therefore, an urgent need exists for a dynamic Web Service Composition and Execution (WSCE) framework based on QoS constraints. A WSCE broker is designed to maintain the following function: intelligent web service selection decisions based on local QoS for individual web service or global QoS based selection for composed web services, execution tracking, and adaptation. A QoS certifier controlled by the UDDI registry is proposed to verify the claimed QoS attributes. The authors evaluate the composition plan along with performance time analysis.
