Validointi toteutettiin puolistrukturoiduilla yrityshaastatteluilla. Työn tuloksena esitetään kirjallisuuskatsauksen ja empiirisen validoinnin avulla määritellyt 15 teknologiatyöntöisten projektien menestystekijää. Tutkimuksen käytännöllinen merkitys on auttaa yritysjohtoa tunnistamaan tärkeät toiminnot tuotekehitysriskien madaltamiseksi. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen merkitys on auttaa tutkijoita keskittymään avainasioihin ja tunnistamaan menestystekijät läpimurtotuotetutkimuksessa

Full textLatinas/os represent the largest ethnic group in California and are under-represented in higher education. Latina/o student college completion rates are the lowest of any racial or ethnic group, including Whites. This study used a critical race theoretical lens to explore the experiences of 14 Latina/o community college students who were pushed out of the transfer path. Storytelling served as the foundation of this study to understand and give voice to Latina/o students' transfer path experiences. Interview data from all participants were analyzed to extract codes and develop themes within the stories. Demographic surveys were evaluated to identify student characteristics.
Findings revealed that Latina/o students were pushed out of the transfer path at four critical points: Students were pushed out as they found themselves on academic or progress probation, resulting in conditional financial aid suspensions. Some students became discouraged as they figured out the amount of courses necessary to become transfer ready. Other students attempted to transition to transferable coursework, but they were unable to pass developmental math courses. Students also reported being pushed out as they learned about the immense amount of transfer requirements, program options, and costs, which created transfer information paralysis.
Latina/o students reported feeling emotional relief after being pushed out of the transfer pathway. Earning an associate's degree or certificate was an achievable goal and students felt a sense of academic accomplishment. Students also believed that an associate's degree was a "stepping stone" on their journey through the educational pipeline.
Students noted race, class, and gender stereotyped experiences that adversely affected their transfer path experiences. Negative perceptions about their race impacted their academic performance. Erratic and limited resources-including suspension from financial aid-proved harmful to their ability to remain on the transfer path. Gender role expectations obstructed Latina women and propelled Latino men on the transfer pathway.
The findings suggest that Latina/o students were disadvantaged by community college policies and procedures. Yet, they remained committed to their educational goals. Further investigation of Latina/o student community college experiences is necessary to develop policies, procedures, and practices that will serve to strengthen their educational pathways.
Henneman, Tasha K. "Preschool expulsions| Parental experiences of Black boys who were pushed out or left behind." Thesis, Mills College, 2015. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3683724.
Full textPreschool expulsions have gained new attention in the early child care field. The disproportionate rate of Blacks boys that are expelled or "pushed out" from their child care settings suggests particular concern for exploration. Behavioral problems in early childhood have negative outcomes later in life (Keane & Calkins, 2004); therefore, it is imperative that educational systems create equitable, non-disciplinary practices, which do not marginalize or shame Black boys. This study captured the experiences of five parents of Black boys that were expelled or pushed out of multiple child care settings, as well as the temporary and lasting effects of the expulsions or "push-outs" on the entire family. One center director of a state-funded preschool and one head teacher of a private center also participated. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews, focus groups, and on-line temperament profiles. Grounded theory was used to code the data in terms of the study's conceptual framework, including relationships between parent, child and teacher/provider, Critical Race Theory (CRT), neurobiological considerations, gaps in teacher/provider preparation, and the high-stakes accountability movement. The social construction of Black boys and learning in early child care settings was also explored. Expulsions or push-outs had several negative impacts for parents, the boys of this study and their families. However, through these hardships, parents learned strong advocacy skills and showed resiliency. Implications for providers and policy are discussed.

Full textGraduating globally conscious citizens, prepared to lead in a global society and serve competently in their communities, is a mission for institutions of higher learning. Short-term study abroad programs with service-learning components have increased in favor toward exposing more students to international engagement, however, few studies explore socially responsible leadership development from these programs and fewer reveal participant perspectives. The purpose of the qualitative case study was to explore and interpret perceptions had by undergraduates and faculty leaders on socially responsible leadership development from participation in the short-term, faculty-led international service-learning component of a capstone course. Utilizing the Social Change Model of Leadership Development to guide the research and organize the findings allowed a thorough exploration of the constructs, identification of experiential learning and transformative learning, along with short-term international service-learning. Findings revealed engagement, reflection, and communication were integral to socially responsible leadership development as well as challenging bias and assumption, change in perspective, trust, skill contribution, global consciousness, and knowledge acquisition. A short-term, faculty-led international service-learning experience embedded within a capstone could develop socially responsible leadership in undergraduates thus influencing their global citizenship. Recommendations for practice include considering the maturity level and learning styles of participants to reduce disengagement and enhance learning and development for all students. Future research could document the longitudinal effect of short-term international service-learning on former participants’ socially responsible leadership.

Full textMovement of convoy/pushed convoy is its ability to change place due to certainforce that drives it. This force is created by ship’s propellers for given speed v=constand it should be equal to resistance of surrounding water and air. This is the reasonwhy useful force created by ships propellers (thrust) created by propellers of pushboatwhile navigating with a convoy at v=const needs to overcome not only theresistance of barges but push-boat’s resistance as well. For planers of transportprocess it is necessary to know, besides the resistance of surroundings duringnavigation of pushed convoys, the value of reduced and specific resistance for certaintypes of barges and convoys that they form. Apart from that methods for calculationof expected speeds of navigation, value of static load of engines based onexperimental research. Besides that new exploitation parameters for determination ofpush-boat’s work are proposed, which haven’t been used in Serbia. At the enddissertation presents methods to solve practical transportation tasks for differentships with different convoys.

Full textReaction-diffusion equations are commonly used to describe population propagation dynamics. In particular, they can be used to define two types of dynamics: pulled and pushed. The pulled dynamic results from a colonization led by individuals in small numbers located at the edge of the population, the pushed dynamic results from a colonization led by larger numbers from the core of the population. Biological mechanisms underlying the pushed waves are still poorly described, however, the presence of an Allee effect (characterized by a positive correlation between growth rate and population density for small populations) is known to lead to a pushed dynamic. Other mechanisms generating a dependence between population size and the probability of colonization are also likely to generate pushed waves, but this generalization remains to be confirmed. Few studies have addressed the effects of environmental factors such as carrying capacity on population expansion rates. However, while for a pulled dynamic, the colonization of the few individuals at the front of the wave should not be influenced by the value of the carrying capacity of the environment, in the pushed case, individuals evolving at larger numbers, the carrying capacity could be a limiting factor of the expansion. We have therefore attempted to describe (i) the effects of carrying capacity on population expansion dynamics, particularly through the prism of pulled/pushed dynamics, and (ii) the diversity of demographic mechanisms that can generate high dynamics. For this purpose we used individual-centred modelling approaches and microcosm experimentation on parasitoid hymenoptera, Trichograms. We used a species with a positive density-dependent dispersion resulting in an increase in the individual probability of migrating in large populations, thus leading to potentially high colonization dynamics. Using these two approaches, we first studied the impact of carrying capacity on expansion velocity, validating our hypotheses that the dependence of expansion velocity on carrying capacity could be an indicator of the pushed/puledl nature of expansions. In a second part we studied the phenomena of Range pinning described for populations subjected to Allee effects and we tried to generalize this phenomenon to pushed dynamics in the presence of positive dependent density dispersion. In a third part we studied how a heterogeneous distribution in space of different carrying capacities would influence the dynamics of particularly high expansions

Background: A power-assisted pushrim-activated wheelchair (PAPAW) is a manual wheelchair propelled assisted by motor power. It has not been documented about the muscle strength profile of upper limbs for PAPAW users. Purpose: To explore the relationship between the upper limb muscle strength and propulsion characteristics of PAPAW propulsion. Method: Twenty-two participants were recruited into this study who received manual muscle test of upper limbs and propulsion test on three kinds of ground surfaces: level, tile, and asphalt. The descriptive statistics on the upper extremity strength and wheelchair propulsion parameters were calculated and recorded. The mean and standard deviation were computed for each parameter and correlation analysis was performed on all of the strength and propulsion variables. Result: Propulsion torque during start-up phase for all three surfaces tested were higher than steady-state phase. Upper limb muscle groups variables were positively correlated significantly with propulsion torque (P<0.05). Conclusion: The study found that more propulsion torque is needed when initiating a PAPAW wheelchair. As the correlation analysis results indicated, in order to take advantage of the PAPAW, we could provide a reference for wheelchair propulsion training and principle of specificity in strength training for PAPAW propulsion.

Full textInternet and mobile devices have brought a new life to journalism, with the challenges and advantages that all of that implies. With them, there is also a new content distribution technique that emerged with the increasingly personal relation between user and mobile phone. The readers opened the door to the pushed news in their screens. In turn, the media took advantage of this trust and still give a special attention to this tool. But, at the same time, they also started a new battle for the presence in readers’ mobile phones, the search for a balance and the continuation of the values of journalism. In what point are we? This report, based on three months of internship on the online section of the digital newspaper “Observador”, aims to reflect about all these questions raised by pushed news and the attention given to them through a literature review, quantitative data and interviews with people directly involved in sending these alerts.
