Full textThe qualitative phenomenological study described herein examined the meaning and essence of the lived psychospiritual and felt-sense experiences arising in individuals who are living with a life-threatening illness. The purpose of the study and the research question are described in this dissertation along with definitions of important terms, the theoretical lenses through which the research was conducted, and an autobiographical reflection describing the motivation behind the research. A historical background of early medical and spiritual practices and beliefs provides context for the study and precedes a review of pertinent literature. The literature review discusses existing germane research studies that support the need for the study. Research methods used to conduct this study are described, along with participant qualifications, recruitment processes used, and ethical considerations undergirding this study. This document includes references for the many citations appearing throughout this research, a chapter that discusses the results that arose from an examination of the data, along with a discussion of findings. It is my sincere hope that my words inspire greater interest in this topic and open a sacred space for the study to have deep and lasting meaning within the wider transpersonal and scientific community.

Full textResearchers have examined reverie and the numinous autonomously; however concomitant studies on reverie and the numinous are nonexistent. Moreover, no research in depth psychotherapy explores reverie or the numinous as essential experiences associated with early childhood psychospiritual awareness. This heuristic investigation examines the experience of reverie as it can lead to the numinous in the context of Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). Case history as arts based data conceptualizes this premise. Five nonactive child case histories give an initial glimpse into the researcher's clinical experience of reverie as it can lead to the numinous.
Reverie is defined as a daydream, and numinous is viewed as an ethereal attribute given to one's personal experience of phenomena. Both descriptions are universal depictions. The researcher includes personal perspective through autobiographical accounts of early childhood experiences and through reflections of reverie as it can lead to the numinous in adulthood. In heuristic inquiry, understanding the researcher's internal frame of reference is essential to understanding the research premise and the unique explorative research process.
Overall, this research serves as a way to include children and their unique depth psychotherapeutic processes. Understanding how children access unconscious material may help depth psychologists to understand what informs early childhood psychospiritual awareness.
Ultimately, children can and do access psychological material that can and do lead to transformation and healing at a deep level. Children's psychotherapeutic processes manifest differently and sometimes emanate from a place of reverie; what manifests from those soulful reveries sometimes take on a numinous quality.
This initial heuristic investigation on reverie as it can lead to the numinous is exploratory in nature and is not intended to be conclusive. More research is likely needed to continue to expand on this dissertation's premise.

Full textThe general goal of this study is to discuss the teaching and practice of psychospiritual assistance to clients, considering the teachers and students perception of the graduation courses on nursing, and to emphasize the psychospiritual assistance to clients in the nursing teaching and praxis. Descriptive-exploratory research carried out in the Middle West Region of Brazil. The sample was comprised of 63 nurses and 141 students of graduation courses on nursing. Data were collected by the researcher, who used the applied questionnaire as an instrument, after approval of the project by the Research Ethics Committee of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo - PUCSP. The spiritual values of education of the new nursing professionals were discussed. It is believed that more than offering drugs, the professionals need to know how to listen to the patient and his/her family, work for prevention and take care of the individual as an active agent in the healing process. In the academic education, the new professionals need a space that assures them religious knowledge for the spiritual assistance. The autonomy of the patient must be the conductor axis to introduce the spirituality in the practice. Finally, among other aspects, it is believed that the faith of the clients is a positive power for the faster recovery; that doing and taking care must be turned to the humanized integral assistance and that the nurse must take care of the clients rather than the disease, besides providing full assistance according to the needs. We are sure that our thesis brought many possibilities to touch those who work in the area of health!
