Abstract:
Zusammenfassung. Der KIDSCREEN–27 und der KIDSCREEN–10 Index dienen der Messung der gesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität (gLQ) bei Kindern und Jugendlichen. In der vorliegenden Analyse werden beide Instrumente im Selbst- und Elternurteil mit Hilfe von bevölkerungsrepräsentativen Querschnittsdaten psychometrisch geprüft und normiert. Die dazu verwendeten Angaben von 11- bzw. 8- bis 18-Jährigen ( n = 1 163 Selbst- und 1 658 Elternurteile) stammen aus der BELLA-Studie, dem Modul zur psychischen Gesundheit der Studie zur Gesundheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen in Deutschland (KiGGS-Studie) des Robert Koch-Instituts. Die Item- und Skalenkennwerte gemäß der klassischen Testtheorie (KTT) entsprachen denen der europäischen Konstruktionsstichprobe und fielen akzeptabel bis gut aus. Die faktorielle Validität konnte über konfirmatorische und explorative Faktorenanalysen teilweise bestätigt werden, es zeigte sich aber auch ein starker Generalfaktor. Item-Response-Analysen im Partial-Credit-Modell legen die Rasch-Skalierbarkeit nahe, es verblieben aber bedeutsame Residualfaktoren. Es werden nach Alter, Geschlecht und Urteilenden stratifizierte Normwerttabellen bereitgestellt. Insgesamt handelt es sich um verbreitete, bewährte und sehr umfassend psychometrisch evaluierte Instrumente, die einen Vergleich der gLQ von Kindern und Jugendlichen aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern ermöglichen.

ZusammenfassungNoch während des Zweiten Weltkrieges war 1941 mit der Einrichtung des Psychologie-Diploms der Weg für die Professionalisierung der klinischen angewandten Psychologie geebnet worden. Als Psychologen “am Krankenbett” unterstützten Psychologen in den Kliniken der 1950er-Jahre Ärzte in der Diagnostik. In den 1960erund 1970er-Jahren wandelte sich das Berufsbild zum “behandelnden” Psychologen in Beratung und Therapie. Ein Wechselspiel von einerseits amerikanischen Einflüssen mit einem Trend zur Psychometrie, neuen psychologischen Theorien oder experimentellen Verfahren und andererseits wissenschaftssowie gesellschaftspolitischen Entscheidungen, führten zur universitären Verankerung der klinischen Psychologie innerhalb der philosophischoder mathematisch/-naturwissenschaftlichen und schließlich an den medizinischen Fakultäten.

Abstract:
Different reports on the efficacy of electroacupuncture in pain led to a randomized prospective study on 120 patients suffering from long-term chronic pain syndromes of different aetiology taking into account the psycholgical situation. The collected data included measuring the pulse amplitude difference of the arteria radialis dextra and sinistra oscillographically, pain evaluation by visual analogue scales, blood pressure and heart frequency and psychometrie. Results show that neurotic patients have a higher level of anxiety and that reduction of pain and the equalization of the amplitudes of both arterial curves is higher in anxious patients. The results are highly significant with an α value of 0.001.

Zusammenfassung: In der Entwicklung der Experimentellen Psychologie im späten 19. Jahrhundert spielten der Anspruch auf Präzision und die Zugänglichkeit psychischer Prozesse für Messungen eine bedeutende Rolle. Auf diesem Hintergrund werden die Entwicklung der Psychometrie anhand der Reaktionszeitversuche von James McKeen Cattell geschildert sowie auch ein Vergleich zur heutigen neuropsychologischen Aufmerksamkeitsdiagnostik angestellt. Dabei werden - trotz des Mißerfolges von Cattell, die elementaren sensorischen und motorischen Tests als Prädiktoren für akademische Leistungen zu etablieren - dessen grundlegende Erkenntnisse für Reaktionszeitmessungen überhaupt und für standardisierte Untersuchungssituationen hervorgehoben. Auch werden die von Cattell im Selbstversuch gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zum Einfluß bestimmter Faktoren auf die Reaktionsfähigkeit im Lichte der heutigen Aufmerksamkeitsdiagnostik diskutiert. Abschließend werden die an Testinstrument, Proband und Versuchsleiter orientierten Präzisionsstandards mit den heutigen für die Diagnostik wesentlichen psychometrischen Gütestandards verglichen und bewertet.

Der Wunsch nach einer diskriminierungsfreien Diagnostik in Schule und anderen pädagogischen Settings wird häufig an die Psychodiagnostik herangetragen: Durch objektive und faire Tests soll diese Möglichkeiten einer differenzsensiblen Diagnostik schaffen. Doch wie be- und verantwortet die Testpsychologie diese gestellten Ansprüche an Objektivität und Fairness vor dem Hintergrund sprachlicher und kultureller Diversität? Wie sind Versuche von „kulturfairen“ Testkonstruktionen motiviert und welche Rolle spielen die Kontexte, in denen sich die testenden und getesteten Subjekte befinden? Anhand dieser Problemfelder erörtert der Artikel Fairness in der Psychodiagnostik aus einer intersektionalen Perspektive. Dazu werden zunächst der Diskursstand der Psychometrie/Psychodiagnostik skizziert und bisherige Versuche der Problemlösung kritisch untersucht. Schließlich werden intersektionale Perspektiven auf Psychodiagnostik entwickelt und es wird gefolgert, dass Fairness nicht im Test, sondern in der Relation zwischen Test und involvierten Subjekten innerhalb von Kontexten verortet ist.

Abstract:
Objective: Obesity is one of the leading public health problems worldwide. Obese individuals are often stigmatized and the psychosocial consequences of overweight and obesity are the subject of current research. To detect stigmatizing attitudes towards obese people, the Fat Phobia Scale (FPS) was developed in the USA in the early nineties. In addition, the 14-item short form of the FPS was constructed. The FPS belongs to the most commonly used instruments for measuring negative attitudes towards obese people because of its good psychometric properties. For the recently developed German short form of the FPS, however, the comprehensive investigation of the psychometric properties and the determination of reference values are still pending. Thus, the main objectives of this study were the evaluation of the psychometric quality of the scale as well as the calculation of reference values. Methods: The study was based on a representative survey in the German general population. A sample of 1,657 subjects (18–94 years) was assessed via structured telephone interviews including the 14-item German version of the FPS. Descriptive statistics and inference-statistical analyses were conducted. Reference values in terms of percentage ranks were calculated. Results: Substantial evidence for the reliability and validity of the German short version of the FPS was found. This study, for the first time in Germany, provides age-specific reference values for the German short form of the FPS allowing the interpretation of individual test scores. Conclusion: Facing the far-reaching consequences of experienced stigmatization of obese individuals, these study results provide an important basis for further studies aiming at the investigation of negative attitudes towards overweight and obesity.

Abstract:
Background: The Patient Health Questionnaire PHQ-9 is a widely used instrument to screen for depression in clinical research. The first aim of this study was to psychometrically test the PHQ-9 in a large sample of cancer patients. The second aim was to calculate unbiased estimates of the depression burden for several cancer groups taking into account age and gender distributions. Methods: A sample of 2,059 cancer patients with varying diagnoses were examined in this study six months after discharge from a rehabilitation clinic. A representative sample of 2,693 people from the general population served as controls. Expected PHQ-9 mean scores of the general population sample, regressed on age and gender, were calculated to enable a fair comparison of different groups of cancer patients. Results: While the reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) for the PHQ-9 scale was good (alpha ≥ 0.84), the CFA fit indices of the one-dimensional solution were unsatisfactory in the patients’ sample. The factorial analysis confirmed two factors. PHQ-9 mean scores for 15 types of cancer are given, ranging from 4.0 (prostate) to 8.2 (thyroid gland). Differences between expected mean scores (derived from the general population) and raw mean scores of the cancer subsamples are reported that provide a better estimate of the depression burden. Conclusions: The results confirmed that the PHQ-9 performs well in testing depression in cancer patients. Regression coefficients can be used for performing unbiased comparisons among cancer groups, not only for this study. The burden of patients with testis cancer and Hodgkin lymphoma is underestimated when age and gender are not taken into account.

Abstract:
Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Evaluation von strukturfindenden Methoden, die die Items psychologischer Fragebogendaten in homogene Gruppen von ähnlichen Items zusammenfassen. Ein wesentlicher Unterschied zwischen Methoden, die zu diesem Zweck verwendet werden, ist, ob sie ein zugrundeliegendes Messmodell annehmen oder ob sie nur eine möglichst brauchbare Gruppierung der Items anstreben. Zum einen gibt es die modellbasierte Faktorenanalyse (FA), die auf dem Faktormodell basiert. Der mathematische Ansatz ist ähnlich der Hauptkomponentenanalyse, oder principal component analysis (PCA). In der FA wird im Unterschied zur PCA noch angenommen, dass die Antworten auf die Items kausal von zugrundeliegenden Faktoren plus einem einzigartigen Residualterm kausal erklärt werden. Und dieser spezifische Residualterm jedes Items wird als völlig unkorreliert zu allen anderen Items angenommen. Ein Verfahren, das keine Modellannahmen trifft, ist die Clusteranalyse (CA). Hier werden lediglich Objekte zusammengefügt, die sich auf einem bestimmten Kriterium ähnlicher sind als andere. So wie man Methoden darin unterscheiden kann, ob sie ein zugrundeliegendes Modell annehmen oder nicht, kann man auch bei der Evaluation von Methoden diese Unterscheidung treffen. Eine Evaluationtechnik, die ein Modell annimmt, ist die Monte Carlo Simulation. Eine Technik, die nicht zwangsweise ein Modell zugrunde legt, ist das Resampling. Es werden Stichproben aus einem echten Datensatz gezogen und das Verhalten der Methode in diesen Stichproben wird untersucht. In der ersten Studie wurde ein solches Resampling-Verfahren angewandt, das wir Real World Simulation nennen. Es soll das bestehende Problem der mangelnden Validität von Monte Carlo Studien zur FA beheben. Es wurde eine Real World Simulation an zwei großen Datensätzen durchgeführt und die Schätzer der Modellparameter aus dem echten Datensatz anschließend für die Monte Carlo Simulation als Modellparameter verwendet. So kann getestet werden, welchen Einfluss die spezifischen Datensatzcharakteristiken sowie kontrollierte Veränderungen von ihnen auf die Funktion der Methoden haben. Die Ergebnisse legen nahe, dass die Resultate von Simulationsstudien immer stark von bestimmten Spezifikationen des Modells und seiner Verletzungen abhängen und daher keine allgemeingültigen Aussagen getroffen werden können. Die Analyse echter Daten ist wichtig, um die Funktion verschiedener Methoden zu verstehen. In der zweiten Studie wurde mit Hilfe dieser neuen Evaluationstechnik ein neues k-means Clusterungsverfahren zur Clusterung von Items getestet. Die zwei Verfahren, die vorgeschlagen wurden, sind: k-means skaliertes Distanzmaß (k-means SDM) und k-means cor. In den Analysen zeigte sich, dass sich die neuen Verfahren besser eignen, Items zu Konstrukten zuzuordnen als die EFA. Lediglich bei der Bestimmung der Anzahl der zugrundeliegenden Konstrukte, waren die EFA-Verfahren genauso gut. Aus diesem Grund wird vorgeschlagen eine Kombination dieser beiden Verfahren zu verwenden. Ein großer Vorteil der neuen Methoden ist, dass sie das Problem der Unbestimmtheit der Faktorwerte in der EFA lösen können, da die Clusterwerte der Personen auf den Clustern eindeutig bestimmt werden können. Am Ende der Arbeit wird auf die unterschiedlichen Evaluierungs- bzw. Validierungstechniken für modellbasierte und nicht-modellbasierte Verfahren eingegangen. Für die Zukunft wird vorgeschlagen, für die Evaluation des neuen k-means CA Verfahrens zur Clusterung von Items, Real World Simulationen sowie Validierungen der Clusterwerte mit Außenkriterien anzuwenden.

Rayleigh matches gathered with anomaloscopy have been used to study polymorphisms of human cone photopigments and causes of acquired color vision defects. Anomaloscopy typically requires a skilled and trained tester following a standard protocol. The endpoints of the matching range can be readily determined if the responses of the observer are consistent, but if the observer gives varying responses to the same mixture then the tester must develop decision criteria to determine the matching range endpoints. Since the number of trials is small, it is not possible to quantify response variability. These factors reduce test-retest reliability and introduce a source of test site dependence for Rayleigh match data.

Abstract:
This empirical study goes a long way in determining the psychometric variables that predict individual differences in terms of the degree of success in both cultural adaptation and foreign language acquisition (FLA). Ever since Schumann (1978) introduced his Acculturation Model, the most well-known attempt to link cultural adaptation with FLA, a number of empirical studies have sought to determine these psychometric variables with mixed results due to the wide variation in the research methodologies applied in terms of learning targets, achievement measures, types of treatment, etc. (D.rnyei, 2005). This study overcomes the weaknesses of many previous studies. The experiment involved 86 Chinese students studying at a major private Japanese university in Japan. The 16 psychometric scales of the Kozai Group’s Global Competency Inventory (GCI), a validated psychometric instrument for measuring psychological traits affecting success in cultural adaptation, were employed as independent variables. The dependent variable was “Japanese Ability” in terms of oral/aural performance measured by six native Japanese raters reviewing video-recorded individual structured interviews conducted in Japanese with the Chinese students by a Japanese native speaker. Out of the 16 GCI psychometric scales, 14 demonstrated highly significant associations with the “Japanese Ability” of the Chinese students participating in the study. The results are very promising in elucidating the psychological traits modulating both cultural adaptation and foreign language acquisition.

One of the key tools of noninvasive visual assessment(\p)(p) is the measurement of visual thresholds in a variety of test targets, including letter acuity charts, perimetric visual fields, spatial and temporal sensitivity functions, color discrimination thresholds and so on through many variants. Implicit in the measurement of any threshold (of either the detection or discrimination type) is a psychometric function of percent correct versus stimulus strength. A neglected variable in the analysis of psychometric data is the steepness of the psychometric function, which is usually assumed to be fairly stable across conditions and observers and therefore to play little role in determining the measured sensitivity levels and their disturbances by eye disorders.

We have developed a detection paradigm in which two identical briefly pulsed point sources are presented on each trial with the observer reporting seeing zero, one, or two stimuli. These responses are gathered as a function of stimulus intensity and psychometric functions for seeing either stimulus and for seeing both stimuli are calculated. Psychometric functions are obtained for mid-spectral and long wavelength stimuli. A model positing binomial sampling of L and M cones and Poisson-distributed quantal noise is used to fit the psychometric functions. Three theoretically important parameters are estimated by the model: the L/M cone ratio, the number of quanta per cone needed for threshold detection, and the effective number of cones contributing to threshold detection.

The Duolingo English Test is a computer adaptive test of English language proficiency. In this paper, a measurement model for the Duolingo English Test is proposed, and its formal characteristics are derived. A scalable real-time rating system, with favorable statistical properties, is proposed and applied to data from the Duolingo English Test to address issues related to differential model fit with respect to item and person characteristics. The results indicate that the signed residual time model fit the test data well, and that there is not evidence of statistical bias toward different groups of test takers.

Review question / Objective: The multidimensional model of empowering and disempowering coach climates created by Duda (2013) has a great relevance within the scope of intervention in the context of Sport Psychology. This scoping review of studies summarizes the scientific production about the empowering and disempowering motivational climates created by Duda (2013). The search included the, Web of Science, Scopus, Psycinfo, and Pubmed databases for English, Portuguese and Spanish articles published between 2013 and 2022. A total of 44 studies were found, which 22 were included in the present study. From the 22 studies, 16 were cross- sectional studies, 4 were psychometrics validation studies, 1 concerned a transversal cohort study and 1 concerned a qualitative study. The coach-created Empowering and Disempowering motivational questionnaire (EDMCQ-C) is, the most used and with the necessary psychometric qualities when it comes to assessing the empow-ering and disempowering motivational climates and their various impacts. We describe results concerning the measurement, antecedents and effects of empowering and disempowering coach climates and future research should invest in the study of empirical evidence that could be added to the existing nomological framework, considering antecedents, development, direct and indirect effects, moderating effects, aggregated effects and qualitative studies.
