Abstract:
This paper studies the risk data and protection measurements of lightning based on the IEC62305 standard. In addition, Visual Basic (VB) is used to build a lightning risk calculation program with a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The data structure, including environment data, line data, zone data, economic data, and protection measures is designed to simulate risk of loss of human life (R1) and risk of loss of economic value (R4). To achieve the most economical protection structure design, additional protection measurements and annual savings are considered. In the practical application, the main purpose is to discuss effective protection distances of surge protective devices (SPDs) for low-voltage power distribution. This paper takes advantage of Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) to simulate the voltage of equipment with different types of loads and length of the cable. After using the protection measures, the value of risk of human life reduces form 21.299 × 10−5 to 0.439 × 10−5 and the value of risk of economic value reduces from 2696.754 × 10−5 to 98.062 × 10−5. The results mean that the protection measures let the values of the risk below the tolerance. By considering the annual cost saving. Assume the cost of protection measures, the interest rate, the depreciation rate, and the maintenance rate are 150,000 $, 4%, 5%, and 1%, respectively. The annual cost before using protective measures, the annual cost after using protective measures, the annual cost of protective measures, and the annual cost saving are $925,000, $33,635, $15,000 and $876,365, respectively. Consequently, it is feasible that the simulation result can provide users with great suggestions to choose the best installation location and achieve the most effective protection design.

Water-saving forms a base for reallocation of water resources and more balanced integrated development of economic sectors of Central Asian countries. Implementation of water-saving programs can highly contribute to objectives laid down in the Strategic Scheme of Integrated Use and Protection of Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All three scenarios of water and land use studied in the scheme relay on water-saving, however an approach of water-saving is not clarified. This study discusses benefits and shortages of potential approaches to achieve water-saving at a basin scale using lessons from countries implemented basin scale water-saving projects. Three water use accounting methods discussed are as follows: (a) accounting efficiency; (б) accounting water use; (с) accounting water consumption. It is argued that the strategic scheme has to relay on real water-savings to meet growing water demand of different sectors of the economy.

Life is a natural course, full of uncertainty and temptation of every human being. In order to make our lives more peaceful and have a more peaceful future, we are trying in various ways to secure ourselves and make our lives safer. Savings through insurance is a life-saving type of savings that involves the material protection of an individual against the risk of premature death and loss or loss of ability to earn money. In conditions where the solidarity-based pension system is unsustainable, it is necessary to develop voluntary pension insurance and savings through life insurance, as sources of long-term savings and additional sources of financing. The subject of this research is to answer the question of what people think about saving through life insurance. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the attitude of the residents of the Republic of Serbia towards saving through life insurance. The survey was conducted on the territory of the entire Republic of Serbia, on a suitable sample of 500 respondents. Through this paper, the citizens' attitude towards saving through life insurance in the Republic of Serbia is analyzed in one place. By analyzing the data from the survey, we can conclude that the general hypothesis is confirmed: Residents are not satisfied with the current state of savings through life insurance in the Republic of Serbia.

Railways are an energy-efficient mode of transportation. Even so, efforts are being made to attain even further energy savings. The latest train-car model of the Shinkansen bullet train, while achieving enriched functionality and improved performance, has attained a 49% energy reduction compared with the 0-series Shinkansen train-cars that debuted at the start of Shinkansen's operation. Also, in the underlying train control system, technologies that will lead to energy reduction have been developed. In order to achieve further energy savings and higher-performance train control, we are developing a new train control system known as Automatic Train Protection and Block System (sometimes referred to ATP-Block system here). This new control system produces a high energy-saving effect compared with conventional signal systems based on ground equipment. We believe that realization of low-cost, highly functional energy-saving Railways will bring back users of automobiles and airlines to Railways, contributing to global energy saving and helping to prevent environmental destruction.

Abstract:
Many challenges are faced in the process of urban sustainable development, including the continuous growth in energy demand and rapid increase in CO2 and air pollutant emissions. This study focuses on the costs of measures to address these issues and establishes a multi-objective comprehensive assessment model for energy saving, CO2, and pollutant emission (MCEE). Taking Guangzhou as an example, the sustainable development measures are divided into three categories, energy-saving, demand-optimization, and environmental-protection. Five scenarios are set to quantitatively evaluate the costs when these measures are implemented alone or coordinately for the period 2015–2035. Conclusions are as follows: (1) Measures of energy-saving and demand-optimization have the best synergistic effect on energy saving and emission reduction. The synergistic benefits include an 80% and 84% increase in energy savings and CO2 reductions, respectively, and more than 50% increase in pollutant reductions. (2) Measures of demand-optimization and energy-saving have the best synergistic effect on cost saving, which reduces the unit technical improvement costs of energy saving and CO2 reduction by 49.5% and 54.9%, respectively, and the unit end-of-pipe costs of four pollutants by 59.15%, 54.43%, 61.15%, and 51.96, respectively. (3) Environmental-protection measures have remarkable synergistic effects in reducing the cost of health loss and labor loss. At the price of a 5% increase in technical improvement cost and 9% in end-of-pipe treatment cost, health loss, labor loss, and total social cost will be reduced by 18%, 19%, and 3%, respectively. The above conclusions provide support for cities of the same type to coordinate various measures, reduce resistance and barriers to their implementation, compensate for the market deficiency of high costs of some measures, and achieve the goal of sustainable development.

Materials and methods. The study aims to conduct an integrative analysis of studies on the independence of health protection as an indicator of physical culture of university students. Independence of health saving is considered as an index of high development, effectiveness, awareness of the physical culture of university students, their free and responsible behavior and attitude to the development and implementation of an individual health saving trajectory, including an individualized physical activity. Results of the research. The state of the research and problems of building and developing health protection independence as a criterion of physical culture of university students in modern pedagogical science and practice have been studied. The results of studies on the health protection independence as an integrative indicator of physical culture of university students have been summarized and the conclusion about the importance of using the independence of health protection as a criterion for assessing the extent to which physical culture is developed has been made. Conclusions: Prospects for and directions of the development of independence of health saving as an indicator of physical culture of university students are highlighted.

The environmental protection attribute and energy-saving level of green buildings cannot be described by the traditional evaluation model. In order to solve the above problems, a new ecological energy-saving effect evaluation algorithm of green buildings based on gray correlation degree is designed. Based on the framework of building energy-saving index system, the environmental protection evaluation standards are divided and the results are used to screen the energy-saving indexes, so as to complete the establishment of green building ecological energy-saving index system and standards. Then, the evaluation set is established, and the evaluation scale of each layer of indicators is accurately located according to the weight value of each index. On this basis, the membership matrix is constructed. By calculating the index weight and determining the fuzzy synthesis operator, the rating process of the algorithm is improved and the analysis of the evaluation algorithm of environmental protection and energy conservation indicators of green building materials based on gray correlation degree is realized. The experimental results show that the designed algorithm has good stability of the fitting curve, can save energy, and has low cost.

Purpose. Substantiate the expediency of optimizing decision-making in resource-saving maintenance of mine workings. Methods. The concept of ensuring the conditions for the repeated use of mine working is based on modern methods of managing the rock pressure manifestations, conducting multifactorial computational experiments, experimental verification of the principles’ implementation during effective use of resources in full-scale conditions. Findings. The directions of improving the fastening and protection structures, which ensure the stability of reused mine workings, have been determined. In this case, the most lightweight protection structure is proposed, the functions of which are transferred to the collapsed and compacted rocks of the uncontrolled collapse zone. Originality. The basic concept of repeated use of mine workings, taking into account resource-saving technologies, has been formulated and implemented. The stress-strain state of the “mass – support – protection elements” system has been studied, and its rational parameters have been optimized. An example of an optimization solution based on the stated methodology is presented. Practical implications. The schemes have been developed for calculating the parameters of loading the fastening and protection structures in reused mine workings with a geomechanical substantiation of the adopted provisions and assumptions, which is the basis for issuing recommendations to ensure the mine working stability.

The current study has motivated for assaying whether life insurance (LI) enrolment should be taken as a protection tool or a saving instrument. Reviewing literature hypotheses have been farmed and tested by gathering primary data through a survey from 120 sample respondents chosen by applying stratified random sampling. It has applied a cross-sectional study design and significant results have validated selective demographics, risks, returns, tax incentives, and precautionary motives likely have influenced LI enrolments. Interestingly, instead of protection tools, LI plans have been preferred as saving instrument. Existing insured customers may use the report for revisiting their risk appetites and quantum of sum assured to assess whether they have been under-insured and if so, they could chalk out plans for taking purely term plans rather than traditional plans and unit link insurance plans to replenish the deficiency.

A 50-ton/batch electric grain circulation drying system was designed that adopted clean electric energy as a drying heat source. The exhaust gas of the dryer was recycled after condensation and dehumidification. The drying system has the advantages of energy saving and environmental protection. The corn drying test showed that the specific heat consumption was 3185 kJ/kg H2O in close operating mode, compared to the Chinese standard of 5700 kJ/kg H2O, and the energy consumption ratio was 44%. This research pioneers a way of saving energy and protecting the environment from drying and comes up with a new thought on how to utilize the waste heat from exhaust gas and the latent heat released by the evaporation of water vapor reasonably.

This design idea was tested and verified. According to the proposed new designed method, by optimizing and selecting the wave-transparent aggregate and absorbing agent material, the absorbing composite materials of cement-based electromagnetic protection, electromagnetic wave absorbent, energy saving and environmental protection can be improved. A new cement-based composite with electromagnetic protection and microwave absorbing properties (the minimum reflectivity is-8.4dB), wide frequency bandwidth, and letter mechanical properties was prepared by using a 20 mm sample between 8-18 GHz. The results provide a basis design and preparation of cement-based composite with electromagnetic protection.

The results show that the typical enclosure-structure with good heat saving capacity can maintain the indoor thermal stability. Through the calculation of heat retaining structure, we can know that the tested adobe house's energy consumption is larger than normal house. it suggested that the earth construction has the characteristics of better energy saving and environmental protection. seeing that the factual tested adobe house's lower intensity , bad decoration and imperfection ,we put forward the suitable earth buildings scheme of the construction of new countryside.
