La question des effets de la promotion des ventes sur le comportement du consommateur est souvent traitée dans la littérature, en revanche peu de travaux s’intéressent à l’impact de la communication promotionnelle en prospectus. Cette recherche se consacre à l’étude des déterminants de la recherche d’information promotionnelle dans le prospectus et à la réponse comportementale du consommateur en termes de choix du point de vente compte tenue des offres promotionnelles communiquées.Le corpus théorique se rapportant au comportement de recherche d’information promotionnelle et au comportement de choix du point de vente, ainsi que l’étude qualitative exploratoire contribuent à la construction du modèle conceptuel et la définition des hypothèses.Une étude quantitative auprès d’un échantillon composé de 460 consommateurs identifie les motivations et les caractéristiques des consommateurs qui cherchent le plus l’information promotionnelle dans le prospectus. En effet, la sensibilité à la promotion, la recherche de l’exploration, l’économie de temps perçue, l’appréciation positive des caractéristiques du prospectus et les variables socio-démographiques (l’âge, le revenu et la taille du foyer) sont les variables qui déterminent une recherche élevée d’information promotionnelle dans le prospectus. Par ailleurs, la recherche d’information promotionnelle influence positivement la réactivité promotionnelle et son impact sur le comportement de choix du point de vente est modéré par l’implication envers l’achat programmé
In literature, sales promotion effects on consumer behavior are often documented, however few researches have investigated the impact of promotional communication through store flyers. This work is dedicated to study the determinants of promotional information search on flyers and the consumer behavioral response in terms of store choice having regard to communicated promotional offers.The theoretical corpus relating to promotional information search behaviour and to store choice behaviour, as well as the exploratory qualitative study contribute to the construction of the conceptual model and the definition of the hypothesis.A quantitative study with a sample of 460 consumers identifies the motivations and the characteristics of consumers who seek more promotional information on store flyers. Indeed, the deal proneness, the exploration search, the perceived time saving, the positive appreciation of flyers characteristic and the socio-demographics variables (age, incomes, household size) are the variables that determines a high promotional information search level in store flyers. Furthermore, the search of promotional information positively influences the promotional reactivity, and its impact on store choice behavior is moderated by involvement with the planned purchase

Abstract:
This dissertation considers the reforms made to the liability rules in Australia�s prospectus laws during the 1990s. It traces the rewrite of the fundraising provisions at the end of the 1980s as part of the new Corporations Law through to the rewrite of those provisions at the end of the 1990s as part of the CLERP Act initiative. As the law in this area is not particularly well served by detailed judicial or academic analysis in Australia, the dissertation seeks to define the scope of the Australian liability regime by reference to case law analysis, a review of relevant theoretical considerations and comparative analysis with other key jurisdictions. The thesis of the dissertation is that many of the reforms were, particularly initially, misconceived in key respects because of a failure to apply appropriate theoretical underpinnings and to take account of the lessons that could have been learned from a comparative analysis with other key jurisdictions.

Abstract:
This thesis provides new insight into the information environments of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and analysts’ equity reports. The thesis consists of four essays that address the issues of firm disclosure and the relevance of information for analysts and investors in the capital market. The research question concerns the role of accounting information on the capital market. The present thesis entails the following analyses: (i) An analysis of the content in IPO prospectuses (ii) Cross-sectional analyses on factors affecting prospectus disclosure (iii) An analysis of the short- and long-run returns of IPOs (iv) An analysis of the relevance of IPO disclosure on IPO valuation (v) An analysis of non-financial information content in analysts’ reports (vi) An analysis of the valuation relevance of non-financial information The first essay examines prospectus disclosure and looks at explanations as to the factors that drive the disclosure. The findings reveal that IPO firms provide more information in their prospectus in comparison with non-IPO firms. The second essay analyzes how prospectus disclosure affects IPO valuation in the secondary market. It is hypothesized that increased disclosure in the prospectus decreases valuation uncertainty, which implicates lower underpricing for the IPO firm. The essay shows that Swedish IPOs are underpriced. However, disclosure is not found to be related to underpricing. The third essay examines the extent and type of forecasts provided in the prospectuses and the value relevance of this information. The study reveals a reduction in profit and sales forecast disclosures while at the same time shows an increase in sales growth forecasts for the period 1996-2004. The essay finds that forecast information is particularly relevant to investors and analysts. Forecast disclosing firms demonstrate a significantly lower underpricing and lower long-run return compared with non-forecast disclosing firms. The fourth essay concerns the valuation relevance of non-financial information contained in analysts’ equity reports. The essay notes that valuation relevance of non-financial information is positively related to the size of the target firm. Moreover, analysts were observed to rely more heavily on forward-looking non-financial information than historical non-financial information in their valuation.

Preparation of the company project for financing by help of Structural funds EU One of a few centrally administrated possibilities of how to help a domestic company stand very tough fight on the market is to make use of financial resources provided by EU budget as a help in development of the entering members. These are variant sources that can be obtained despite the very complicated system of administration and that can be used to replace (or to replenish) primary financing e.g. loans or one’s own resources. Within the framework of published appeals for bringing forward the projects, conditions related to supplying these financial means and according to the purpose of these supporting programmes there are several possibilities of financing of our company. This thesis concerns the financial preparation of a project of a small company based on EU structural funds and their proclaimed appeals of Ministry of Industry and Trade. A detailed analysis of the company’s situation as a general base for entrepreneurial projects is accomplished. This analysis is followed by the project appropriate for the application to the administrator.

Uppsatsen syftar till att utreda möjligheterna för en investerare att söka ersättning för fel eller brister i ett prospekt för gröna obligationer. Mot bakgrund av detta utreds såväl ansvarsrekvisiten som ansvarssubjekten. Därtill behandlas även betydelsen av råd, rekommendationer och ramverk från branschaktörer. Syftet är vidare att diskutera huruvida ett utökat prospektansvar eller en särreglering av gröna obligationer, helt eller delvis, är motiverad. En grön obligation är ett värdepapper som särskiljer sig från andra värdepapper genom att likviden är förbunden till att investeras i klimatpositiva ändamål. Marknaden för gröna obligationer utvecklas i hög grad genom råd, rekommendationer och ramverk utfärdade av branschorganisationer. Dessa utgör en självreglerande funktion som kompletterar övrig reglering väl, exempelvis beträffande hur likviden får förvaltas. En grön obligation regleras i övrigt genom sedvanliga obligationsrättsliga regler. För närvarande är ansvaret för fel och brister i prospekt endast uttryckligen reglerat för bolagsorganen i 29 kap. 1 § ABL. Detta mot bakgrund av en bestämmelse i prospektdirektivet som ger medlemsstaterna stor frihet att utforma prospektansvaret i enlighet med nationell civilrättslig lagstiftning. Inom svensk rätt måste därför en investerare som anser sig ha lidit skada, till följd av fel eller brister i ett prospekt, och vill utkräva ansvar från emittenten eller en medverkande aktör, välja mellan två tillvägagångssätt utan uttryckligt stöd i en författning. Dessa utgörs av att grunda en talan på en kontraktsrättslig alternativt utomobligatorisk grund, varav den förstnämnda har begränsat med stöd i gällande rätt. Rättsläget anses därför oklart avseende möjligheterna att rikta en talan mot emittenten av ett prospekt eller en medverkande aktör till dess upprättande. Avsaknaden av ett tydligt rättsläge riskerar vidare att skada förtroendet för och hämma effektiviteten på kapitalmarknaden.
This paper examines the possibilities for an investor in a prospectus of green bonds to seek compensation for false or misleading information. That includes the conditions for compensation as well as the liability of different subjects. Furthermore, the importance of advises, recommendations and frameworks from green bond market organizations are being examined. The purpose is also to discuss if an extended liability for a prospectus or a further regulation of green bonds is motivated. A green bond is a security that separates from other securities since the proceeds must be allocated to environmental friendly projects. The market for green bonds develops mainly through advises, recommendations and frameworks from green bond organizations. These are a self-regulating part of the market who complements the other regulation well. For instance, regarding how to manage the proceeds. A green bond is otherwise regulated through traditional bond regulation. The prospectus responsibility for false or misleading information is currently only explicitly regulated for persons exercising corporate functions, through the Companies Act (ABL), chapter 29 paragraph 1. This is due to a formulation in the Prospectus Directive which entails the EU member states a wide possibility to design the responsibility according to the national law system. Thus, the possibility for an investor, that has suffered a loss due to false or misleading information, to claim responsibility from the issuer or a participating subject is a choice between two courses of action without explicit support of the law. The two courses of action are through tort law or on a contractual basis, of which the latter has a limited support in the law. Consequently, the lack of an explicit and transparent state of regulation are risking to damage market efficiency and the public confidence in the capital markets.

This thesis aims to analyze the supposed inevitability of a breakthrough in machine translation and the role that this breakthrough will play in the evolution of translation companies. It will analyze the changes that are happening and what repercussions those changes will have on the decisions made by students, professionals, agencies, and institutions over the next twenty years. This paper will be divided into three main sections: The first part will provide a background of today’s translation industry and consider the advent of machine translation in translation agencies and its continuous developments. In the second part of this essay, I will illustrate how I carried out my research inside Global Voices - a translation agency based in Stirling, Scotland, in which I have interned as Project Manager in December 2018 - to understand what use the translation agency makes of machine translation, also conveying my colleagues’ thoughts about it. The conclusion will recapitulate the topics approached, revolve around the main findings of this study and try to foresee what translators should expect from the future, how in my opinion they should deal with the changes the future will bring.

Abstract:
An experimental investigation into the feasibility of imaging multiple medical radioisotopes with the ProSPECTus Compton camera is presented. The aim of the project is to develop a Compton imaging system configured with segmented solid state detectors, for the purpose of alleviating the limitations of conventional Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) systems. The ProSPECTus system consists of a Si(Li) and HPGe planar detector housed in a magnetic field compatible custom made cryostat. The investigation presented in this thesis has been undertaken with a prototype ProSPECTus system, which consists of Si(Li) and HPGe planar detectors housed in separate cryostats. Analysis of the results attained from investigations into the optimum coincidence window, noise thresholds and image reconstruction techniques as part of this thesis are to be used to inform future developments and measurements. The work presented focuses on an investigation of simultaneous data acquisition with the medical radioisotopes 99mTc and 123I, which emit gammarays with energies of 141 keV and 159 keV, respectively. The experimental methodology of defining parameters for timing and noise thresholds is described along with system performance in terms of image quality and efficiency. A custom designed phantom is used to build source complexity and to provide qualitative and quantitative assessment of the imaging capabilities of ProSPECTus using analytical and iterative reconstruction algorithms. It has been determined that a spatial resolution of 3 mm is achievable, using iterative reconstruction of data acquired from a 139Ce point source of energy 166 keV. Quantitative analysis has revealed that an Edge Response is a good measure of determining the resolvability of extended source distributions. It has been proved that the spectroscopic response enables ProSPECTus to image 99mTc and 123I simultaneously. This would otherwise require complex peak deconvolution techniques in clinical SPECT systems. An improvement in efficiency of up to a factor of 2.5 over conventional SPECT systems is demonstrated, with suggestions for further improvements, indicating a factor of 23 is achievable with the next generation system. This would potentially reduce patient dose or increase patient throughput. Suggestions are presented for the iterative reconstruction algorithm to facilitate enhanced imaging with the next generation ProSPECTus system.

La question des effets de la promotion des ventes sur le capital de la marque est souvent traitée dans la littérature par l’intermédiaire de modèles économétriques complexes. En revanche, peu de travaux s’intéressent aux effets d’une promotion des ventes entendue comme communication sur les perceptions du consommateur. Cette recherche tente de palier cette limite de quatre manières : (1) en intégrant la composante médiatique de la communication promotionnelle par l’intermédiaire du prospectus, (2) en identifiant les effets de la communication promotionnelle en prospectus sur le consommateur et sur ses perceptions de la marque, (3) en étudiant l’influence de ces effets sur le capital de la marque et (4) en tenant compte de différentes sources de contingence de nature situationnelle. Les résultats d’une expérimentation conduite auprès de 900 consommateurs confirment l’existence d’une persuasion essentiellement périphérique en communication promotionnelle en prospectus. Ce type de communication apparaît alors comme un levier efficace pour activer la marque de produit de grande consommation
In literature, sales promotion effects on brand equity are often documented through econometric models. However, few empirical researches have investigated the consumer’s perception of this specific type of communication. Thus to fill the gap, this work aims at studying sales promotion effects from a communication perspective by: (1) integrating the media component of sales promotion through store flyers, (2) identifying the store flyers’ effects on the consumer and on their perception of brands, (3) studying the influence of these effects on brand equity and (4) controlling moderating variables related to situational differences. Results of an experiment on 900 consumers confirm that persuasion through store flyers mainly use a peripheral route. This means of communication then appears as an efficient lever for brand activation in fast moving consumer goods industry

För att kunna utveckla en produkt eller en affärsverksamhet är tillgången till finansiering mycket betydelsefull för företag. Nystartade och mindre företag stöter ofta på patrull när de försöker anskaffa kapital från traditionella finansieringskällor såsom banker och riskkapitalister. De nystartade och mindre företagen har istället varit hänvisade till att söka finansiering från ägarnas vänner, familj och andra inom deras bekantskapskrets, för det fallet att deras ägare själva inte har haft tillräckligt med kapital. Den tämligen nya finansieringsformen Equity Crowdfunding kan emellertid vara lösning på finansieringsproblemet för nystartade och mindre företag. Equity Crowdfunding kan beskrivas som en finansieringsform innebärande att ett företag eller dess ägare anskaffar kapital till företaget genom att via internet erbjuda allmänheten att teckna eller köpa värdepapper i företaget. Med anledning av Equity Crowdfunding uppkommer emellertid ett antal betänkligheter av såväl praktisk som legal karaktär. En fråga som förekommit i diskussionen av Equity Crowdfunding i förhållande till svensk rätt är om Equity Crowdfunding-förfarandet strider mot spridningsförbudet i 1 kap. 7 § aktiebolagslagen (2005:551) (ABL). Med tanke på att det inte finns någon praxis avseende spridningsförbudet är det föga förvånande att det förelegat en betydande osäkerhet avseende frågan. I uppsatsen framkommer att väldigt mycket tyder på att de företag som söker finansiering genom Equity Crowdfunding gör sig skyldiga till överträdelser av spridningsförbudet. En överträdelse av det nämnda spridningsförbudet kan ytterst leda till ett fängelsestraff enligt 30 kap. 1 § ABL. Det faktum att en överträdelse kan leda till ett fängelsestraff visar på allvarligheten av en överträdelse. Vidare har det tidigare varit något osäkert om det uppkommer en skyldighet för de finansieringssökande företagen att upprätta ett så kallat prospekt enligt 2 kap. 1 § lagen (1991:980) om handel med finansiella instrument (LHF). Av den utredning som görs i uppsatsen synes dock någon sådan skyldighet inte uppkomma I uppsatsen föreslås att ett lagstiftningsarbete bör initieras för att göra det möjligt för privata aktiebolag att söka finansiering via Equity Crowdfunding utan att dess företrädare, ägare och andra inblandade aktörer riskerar att hållas straffrättsligt ansvariga, samt vilka överväganden lagstiftaren i övrigt bör göra om ett sådant lagstiftningsarbete sätts igång.
Access to financing is essential in order to develop a product or a business. Small businesses, especially start-ups, have a difficult time raising money. The usual sources of business finance, e.g. bank lending and venture capital, are hard to obtain for small and micro-businesses. Instead, entrepreneurs who lack the personal resources needed to finance their businesses have to turn to friends, family members, and personal acquaintances but those sources are often insufficient.1 A rather new form of financing called Equity Crowdfunding may however be a possible solution to the funding problem of start-ups and small businesses. In essence Equity Crowdfunding means that company turn directly to the public and solicit securities in the company through the Internet in order to finance its business. Equity Crowdfunding gives rise to a number of questions. Pursuant to the prohibition to solicit securities which is expressed in the 1 kap. 7 § aktiebolagslagen (2005:551) (ABL),2 a private limited company must not offer securities of the company to the public. Given that nearly all of the companies who seek financing through Equity Crowdfunding are private limited companies, one question that has occurred is the lawfulness of Equity Crowdfunding. There are no relevant precedents on this matter. Nonetheless in this thesis it is argued that there are many indications that Equity Crowdfunding is unlawful according to 1 kap. 7 § ABL. The fact that a violation of 1 kap. 7 § can lead to criminal liability according to 30 kap. 1 § ABL shows how serious the legislator has seen on an infringement of the prohibition. Furthermore pursuant to 2 kap. 1 § lagen (1991:980) om handel med finansiella instrument (LHF),3 it is unlawful for a company to offer transferable securities to the public unless a prospectus has been drawn and published. It has been uncertain whether or not the companies using Equity Crowdfunding have to draw and publish a prospectus. In this thesis it is argued that the companies using Equity Crowdfunding aren’t subject to LHF and thus do not have to draw a prospectus when seeking finance through Equity Crowdfunding. In the end of this thesis I suggest that the legislator should initiate a legislative scheme in order to make it possible for Swedish start-ups and small companies to seek financing through Equity Crowdfunding without risking to be held criminally liable. I also present other considerations which I deem necessary.

Abstract:
This thesis is an attempt to understand few aspects of the initial public offerings (IPO) market using the data from the London Stock Exchange (LSE) for both the Main Market (MM) and the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) segments. I examined the cost of raising money for the IPOs. I found that IPO spread is in the range of 4% - 6.43% and a median of 5%, which contrasts with previous US studies that report a spread of 7%. More interestingly, there is no clustering of fees at any level in the LSE. Economies of scale explain the spread charged in the AIM better than the MM, implying the spread decreases when the proceed increases. As the final product of the IPO preparation stage is the IPO prospectus, I conducted a textual analysis to measure the tones’ relationship with IPO short-run and long-run dynamics. I used a novel methodology of analysis the textual tone from the IPO prospectus utilising Loughrun and McDonald (2011) modified word list. I found that IPO tone is related to underpricing, spread and lockup length. However, I did not find any relationship with the volatility or idiosyncratic risk. That may be due to the fact that these are not useful measures of ex-ante uncertainty. I also examined some of the long-run anomalies in the IPO literature. The tone measures show a significant relationship with the survival of the firms and time till dead. I showed that the information disclosed at the time of IPO is still valid for predicting the survival of IPO firms. However, I do not find much correlation with the IPO tone measures and lockup expiration returns and long-run IPO performance. That might be a result of methodological controversies of measuring the long-run performance of the IPO. JEL Code: G14, G15, G24, G30, G32.

Dans la littérature, l'examen des effets de la promotion des ventes sur le capital de la marque mobilise le plus souvent des modèles économétriques, qui ne considèrent pas la dimension communicationnelle de la promotion des ventes et son influence sur les perceptions du consommateur. Notre recherche propose donc de ré-explorer cette question en intégrant la composante médiatique de la communication promotionnelle par l'intermédiaire du prospectus, et en mesurant plus spécifiquement les effets de celle-ci sur la manière dont le consommateur perçoit la marque qui s'y trouve insérée. Pour ce faire, une expérimentation est conduite auprès d'un échantillon de 900 sujets représentatif des responsables d'achat au niveau hexagonal. Ses résultats mettent en évidence la nature essentiellement périphérique du processus de persuasion à l'œuvre en communication promotionnelle en prospectus. Dans les cas manipulés, la communication promotionnelle en prospectus améliore la notoriété de la marque et ne semble en mesure de détériorer son image qu'exceptionnellement. Elle n'a donc aucune raison de dégrader son capital et apparaît finalement comme un outil efficace pour activer la marque de produit de grande consommation.

Till skillnad från auktoriserade börser är reglerna färre kring prospekt och informationsgivning på MTF-plattformar. I dessa prospekt väljer vissa bolag att sätta upp finansiella mål. Uppnår bolagen dessa finansiella mål och hur utrycker de sig kring sina finansiella prestationer i VD-ordavsnittet? Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur tre bolag efter börsnotering presterat finansiellt i förhållande till prognoser i emissionsprospektet. Ytterligare ett syfte är att göra en kvalitativtextanalys av respektive bolags VD-ord i årsredovisningen. Metod: Denna kvalitativa studie utförs genom en deduktiv ansats med där forskningsfrågor formulerats utifrån befintliga teorier. Nyckeltal-och textanalys av tre bolag har gjorts på sekundärdata bestående av årsredovisningar, prospekt och memorandum. Slutsats: Två slutsatser har kunnat dras. Endast ett av bolagen uppnådde ett av sina finansiella mål från emissionsprospektet vid notering. I två av tre bolag såg vi tecken på försök att påverka läsarens uppfattning om de finansiella prestationerna.
Introduction: When a company is listed on an MTF platform, it is common to carry out an emission and thus an emission prospectus. Unlike authorized stock exchanges, the rules are fewer on prospectuses and information disclosure on MTF platforms. In these prospectuses, certain companies choose to set financial targets. Do the companies achieve these financial goals and how do they express their financial performance in the CEO's comments? Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how three companies after an IPO performed financially in relation to forecasts in the emission prospectus. Another purpose is to make a qualitative text analysis of the respective company's CEO's comments in the annual report. Method: This qualitative study is carried out through a deductive approach with research questions formulated on the basis of existing theories. Key ratio and text analysis of three companies have been done on secondary data consisting of annual reports, prospectuses and memoranda. Conclusion: Two conclusions have been drawn. Only one of the companies achieved one of its financial targets from the emission prospectus on listing. In two out of three companies, we saw signs of attempts to influence the reader's perception of the financial performance.

This paper analyses the use of modal auxiliaries in an investment fund prospectus and how they are translated into Swedish. The semantics of modal auxiliaries is a rather fuzzy area. One modal verb such as may or will can have several different meanings, depending on the textual and situational context. Correctly interpreting the modal verbs is an important prerequisite for an accurate translation. A theoretical background founded on linguistic studies and grammatical presentations by Palmer (2001), Huddleston and Pullum (2002), Coates (1983), Teleman et al. (1999) and Wärnsby (2006) and others, provides a framework for analysing the meanings of the modal verbs in the source text and determining the most equivalent expressions in the Swedish modal system. Different types of modality, such as epistemic, deontic and dynamic, are discussed, along with the different textual and situational factors associated with each type. The analysis includes the most frequent modal auxiliaries found in the source text, namely (in the order of frequency from high to low) may, will, should, can, shall and must. Each modal verb is analysed in terms of its meanings and possible Swedish translations are discussed. One interesting aspect highlighted in the study is the close relationship between modality and futurity, which is particularly true for will. Due to the nature of the source text as a legal contract between the investment fund and the investors, the use of modal verbs specific to legal register is also considered in the analysis. The analysis shows that an awareness of the various factors associated with different types of modality and the linguistic features typical for the particular text type can help the translator correctly interpret and translate the modal verbs as accurately and consistently as possible.

In the first two decades of twentieth-century Alaska, various groups portrayed the mining prospector as a central Alaskan figure despite the fact that the actual prospector was neither the image maker nor always part of the desired end. Political and economic interests and policies were promoted aggressively by rhetorical arguments; in Alaska, these arguments used the ideals found in the nineteenth-century prospector image as an ideological cover and a material means for early twentieth-century economic and political goals of industrial growth and regional development. The prospector was one of the most complex of Western characters, a prototype that was a product of American cultural, economic, legal and political ideals and notions about the individual and individualism. The mining industry, federal agencies overseeing Alaskan mining, and Alaskan promoters all used prospector images to entice mineral seekers to Alaska, but they also worked to direct prospectors in material ways to ultimately aid their own industrial-based goals of Alaskan growth and settlement. Actual Alaskan prospectors could not fully live up to their images. They faced many challenges in Alaska, but were able, through hard effort, to achieve a limited self-sufficiency. Prospector images were also at center-stage of ideological and rhetorical debates to determine land use policy of Alaskan coal lands, despite the simple fact that actual mineral seekers had little to do with coal mining development. Prospector images also carried political meanings in the struggle for Alaskan home rule. Using this fluid iconic figure did have material consequences, although in the end the political economy had greater influence in Alaskan development.

Background: The number of IPOs has been numerous in recent years. Moreover, the returns of the IPOs managed to either be over and underpriced. IPO-firms are generally unknown before they get listed. Therefore, the media outlets play an essential role in the dissemination of information to new investors. Thus, it becomes noteworthy to investigate whether media attention could be an explanatory factor for the first-day returns and how it affects an IPO in the short-term perspective. Research Questions: i) If the amount of media coverage two months pre-IPO has any relation with the first trading day return and ii) If the amount of media coverage helps to predict the IPOs stock return volatility after a two-month period (44 trading days)? Purpose: This research will attempt to find evidence if the amount of media coverage pre- IPO may drive the demand for the IPO and the first-day return. For this purpose, it is also necessary to find the under and/or overpricing. Furthermore, a regression analysis will be applied during a two-month period after the first trading day to investigate if increasing volatility depends on the amount of media coverage. Delimitations: The sample consists of 165 IPOs in Sweden from Aktietorget and OMX Stockholm during the period 2005-2017. IPOs are initial introductions that are not unit IPOs, mergers & acquisitions, right issues, spin-offs or buy-out firms. Method: The first research question is explained by a Pearson correlation where X is the media variable and tested against the degree of under or overpricing. Furthermore, a multiple-linear regression is examined where variables market index, Retriever data and trading volume is tested against stock return. Conclusion: It has been identified that Aktietorget has been overpriced 2005-2017 by 2.9% while OMXS has been underpriced 6.8%. In summary, the study did not manage statistically to ensure that the amount of media coverage significantly influenced the stock return volatility.

This project uses a qualitative research approach to understanding Mormon women's uses and gratifications of magazines. The first study provides a retrospective look at the uses and gratifications of readers of the Relief Society Magazine (1915–1970) in order to understand where media targeted to Mormon women has been. Through interviews, focus groups and questionnaires, the study finds the main reasons Mormon women read the Relief Society Magazine was to provide (a) a handbook for daily life, (b) a community, (c) intellectual stimulation, (d) an aspirational ideal, and (e) an escape from daily life. When the magazine ceased publication, readers felt a sense of loss and recognized a need to move on. The second study researches Mormon women's current uses and gratifications of media, with a focus on magazine use. Through focus groups and questionnaires, the main uses and gratifications of current media among Mormon women include (a) interaction, (b) cognition, (c) and diversion. Mormon women's media use is also influenced by warnings from others about the dangers of particular media or too much media use. This project then presents the concept and design for a new magazine targeted to Mormon women and seeks to fulfill the needs and gratifications found in the research discussed here.

This research, delimited between the ages of 1881 to 1884, studies the educational laws of the imperial period and the aspects focused on and related to the primary instruction. It unveils the motives of the creation of an elementary teaching school and its pedagogical practices for the primary teaching to the naïve children capita of the Sergipe settlement destined to children as well as the pedagogical practices developed by the school. It identifies the profile of the Sociedade Libertadora Aracajuana Cabana do Pai Thomaz (1882) as a space for speeches, conferences, journalistic activities, delivery of emancipation letters and instruction to naïve children. As Finanças Comportamentais, com base em estudos empíricos, procuram demonstrar que os investidores nem sempre se mantêm racionais ao tomarem decisões que envolvem riscos, conforme argumentava a Teoria Neoclássica de Finanças. Este trabalho tem como objetivo contextualizar o recente campo de estudo e replicar a investigação empírica do artigo seminal de Kahneman e Tversky (1979) que aborda a Teoria do Prospecto e que constitui a base de Finanças Comportamentais. Simultaneamente, serão comparados os resultados da pesquisa com os de Kahneman e Tversky (1979) com os obtidos nesse estudo. Os resultados encontrados nesta população específica mostram similaridade, e que mesmo com populações e períodos diferentes, os indivíduos tendem a se comportar de maneira, na maioria das vezes, contraria ao que argumentava a Teoria Neoclássica de Finanças
Basing on empirical studies, Behavioral Finance seek to demonstrate that investors not always have a rational posture when it comes to making decisions that might involve some sort of risk, according to Neoclassical Finance Theory. This paper aims to contextualize recent studies and respond to the empirical investigation on Kahneman and Tversky’s (1979) seminal article, which approaches The Prospect Theory and constitutes the basis for Behavioral Finance. The results of the investigation will simultaneously be compared to those of Kahneman and Tversky (1979). The results, which have been specifically found in this population, show that the results of the samples are similar, and even in different populations and different periods, individuals tend to behave, more often than not, just as opposed to the arguments of the Neoclassical Finance Theory

O cinturão Fíngoè é uma unidade tectônica do Supercontinente Gondwana Oeste composta por rochas supracrustais formadas há aproximadamente 1.33 Ga. Essas rochas são portadoras de mineralizações de Au, Cu, Zn, Pb e Fe. Com cerca de 150 km de comprimento, e orientado WSW-ENE, este cinturão estende-se desde o Monte Atchiza a oeste até cerca de 30 km para leste da vila de Fíngoè no norte de Moçambique e consiste de uma extensa variedade de rochas metassedimentares e metavulcânicas. O cinturão Fíngoè apresenta especialização metalogenética para Au e Cu, que já foram explotados no passado em diversos locais. Muitos destes registros estão associados com magnetita e malaquita. Atualmente trabalhos de prospecção e pesquisa mineral têm sido realizados pela empresa de mineração African Queen Mines Ltda, através do projeto denominado de King Solomons, localizado na parte central do mesmo. A geologia da área abrangida pelo prospecto Mankombiti, mostra uma predominância de rochas carbonáticas, granitos e gabros. As rochas carbonáticas são consideradas importantes na gênese de depósitos tipo skarn e depósitos de substituição de metais de base e Au devido à sua natureza fortemente reativa. Os dados geocronológicos realizados neste trabalho indicaram uma idade precisa para a rocha intrusiva granítica associada à mineralização de 1079,1 ± 8,2 Ma, que poderia ser a idade da formação do skarn e consequentemente desta mineralização. Entretanto a idade obtida para o processo de alteração hidrotermal que afetou o gabro, na ordem de 657 ± 36 Ma e a idade modelo Pb-Pb sugerida pelo modelo de Stacey e Kramers (1975) para a calcopirita da mineralização principal de 725 Ma, sugerem que a mineralização, do prospecto Mankombiti é neoproterozóica. Para melhor entendimento dos processos que estiveram envolvidos na formação deste depósito skarn, duas hipóteses são consideradas: (i) poderia ser admitida a presença de corpos graníticos intrusivos em 700 Ma, situados em profundidade, que não foram ainda caracterizados, como responsáveis pela fonte de calor necessária, (ii) pode ser admitida ocorrência de um evento distensional em 700 Ma que produziria um adelgaçamento da litosfera e a consequente ascensão da astenosfera, produzindo uma elevação do fluxo térmico gerando os fluidos mineralizantes necessários.
The Fíngoè belt is a tectonic unit of West Gondwana Supercontinent, comprised of supracrustal rocks formed at approximately 1.33 Ga. These rocks are carriers of Au, Cu, Zn, Pb and Fe mineralization. With about 150 km long and oriented WSW- ENE, this belt extends from west of the Atchiza Mount to about 30 km east of the Fíngoè village in the north Mozambique, and consists of an extensive variety of metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks. The Fíngoè metallogenic belt provides specialization for Au and Cu, which have been exploited in the past in various locations. Many of these records are associated with magnetite and malachite. Currently, the prospecting and mineral exploration have been conducted by the African Queen Mines Ltd mining company, through a project called the King Solomons, located in the central part of it. The geology of the studied area shows a predominance of carbonate rocks, granites and gabbros. The carbonate rocks are considered important in the genesis of the skarn deposits type and deposits of replacement for base metals and Au due to its highly reactive nature. The geochronological data performed in this work indicate a precise age of the 1079.1 ± 8.2 Ma for the intrusive granitic rock associated with mineralization, which could be interpreted as the age of the skarn and consequently of the mineralization. However the age obtained for the hydrothermal alteration that affected the gabbro at about 657 ± 36 Ma and the Pb-Pb model age suggested by the model of Stacey and Kramers (1975) for primary chalcopyrite mineralization at 725 Ma, suggesting that the mineralization of the Mankombiti prospectus was developed during the Neoproterozoic time. For understanding the processes that were involved in the skarn-type mineralization processes, two hypotheses are here considered: (i) could be admitted the presence of i ntrusive granitic rocks at 700 Ma, situated in depth, which have not yet been characterized, as responsible for the heat source required, (ii) may be admitted occurrence of an extensional event at 700 Ma to produce a thinning of the lithosphere and the uplift of the asthenosphere, producing high thermal flows generating the mineralization fluids.

Ethnic civil wars are the most abundant form of large-scale, deadly conflict in the world today, yet the dedicated study of ethnic civil war is relatively new within political science. One empirical observation repeated in the literature is that civil wars are less likely than interstate wars to end in negotiated settlements, and more likely to end in military victory for one side. Recently, scholars have employed expected utility theory and the security dilemma to construct models of how ethnic combatants choose between settling their differences at the bargaining table or on the battlefield. Rooted in the rational choice paradigm, these models draw upon utility calculations and security concerns to describe ethnic combatants' decision processes and explain the low rate of ethnic war settlement. Two problems with these rational choice models, however, are that they cannot account for cases of ethnic war in which combatants elect to continue fighting losing battles when a normatively "rational" settlement is available, and that they do not seem to accurately describe the decision-making behavior of ethnic combatants. In this thesis, I draw upon the principles of prospect theory, a descriptive theory of choice under conditions of risk and uncertainty, to construct a psychological model of ethnic war termination. I argue that ethnic combatants do not behave as rational choice theories suggest; rather, they choose to settle or fight by framing the possible outcomes as gains or losses relative to a subjective reference point. I analyze my theory by comparing it to three prominent rational choice models: Mason and Fett's expected utility theory, Walter's credible commitment theory, and Kaufmann's demographic separation theory. I then perform a first-brush test of my theory by applying all four models to two case studies, the Ethiopian-Eritrean War and the Bosnian Civil War, to determine which model best explains the behavior of the combatants.

A plan of opening a physical shop (a low-cost expediting point) as an extension of currently runnning electronic shop is the main focus of this thesis. The analysis of demographic population data, market situation (supply/demand), internal and external corporate enviroment is presented. An attempt is made to provide the answer for the question whether proposed enterprise is pursuable or not. The results of analytic part are used for the shop building locality selection. Furthermore, corporate history, financial and business planning, marketing strategy, organizational structure are provided in practical part of this thesis. Final part is providing the evaluation and selection of the shop founding locality.

Face à ce constat, l'une des explications avancées par la recherche marketing est la difficulté du consommateur à catégoriser un nouveau produit.Ce travail s'insère dans le courant de recherches sur la catégorisation de l'innovation et suggère de tenir compte de l'incertitude qui caractérise ce processus. L'originalité de cette étude est de proposer un lien entre les recherches sur la catégorisation de l'innovation et celles sur la prise de décision en condition d'incertitude. La Théorie des Prospects (Kahneman et Tversky, 1979) en particulier, et l'un de ses principes, celui d'aversion aux pertes, ont fourni un cadre théorique adapté pour tenir compte du caractère d'incertitude de l'innovation. Notre question de recherche a proposé de vérifier si le principe d'aversion aux pertes pouvait s'appliquer pour expliquer comment la modification de certains attributs d'une catégorie provoque la perception d'une rupture et la création d'une nouvelle catégorie de produits par le consommateur.La partie empirique de ce travail a été appliquée dans le domaine le vin, un produit qui traverse une grave crise de consommation. Nous avons retenu une approche expérimentale à travers six études conduites sur des innovations du secteur vinicole. Les résultats ont permis de mettre en évidence le rôle majeur joué par la nature de l'attribut dans la catégorisation ainsi que son influence sur la perception des ruptures d'une catégorie.Du point de vue managérial, les conclusions de ce travail ont pour objet l'efficacité des stratégies d'innovation qui agissent sur les attributs d'un produit et sur leur capacité à différencier une innovation parmi la concurrence. Cette recherche fournit également des suggestions quant au positionnement et à la communication à mettre en place pour faciliter la compréhension d'un nouveau produit et donc son choix par le consommateur
Title: Categorization and evaluation of innovation: a prospect théory approach applied to the case of low alcohol content wine Every year numerous innovations are available on the market but only a small number meet the hoped-for success. Given this fact, one of the explanations offered by marketing research is the difficulty the consumer has to categorize a new product. This work is part of current research on the categorization of innovation and suggests to consider the uncertainty that characterizes this process. Its originality is to propose a link between research on the categorization of innovation and those of decision making under uncertain conditions. Prospect Theory (Kahneman et Tversky, 1979), in particular, and one of its principles, that of loss aversion, this research has provided a theoretical framework adapted to take into account the uncertainty of innovation. Our research question proposes to determine whether the principle of loss aversion can be applied to explain how the modification of certain attributes of a class causes the perception of a break and create a new category of products by the consumer. The empirical part of this work was conducted on wine, a product that is going through a major crisis of consumption. We chose an experimental approach across six studies conducted on innovations in the wine sector. The results were used to highlight the major role played by the nature of the attribute in the categorization and its influence on the perception of breaks in a category. From the managerial point of view, the conclusions of this work relate to the effectiveness of innovation strategies that affect the attributes of a product in their ability to differentiate an innovation from competition. This work also provides suggestions for the positioning and communication set up to facilitate the understanding of a new product and therefore its choice by the consumer

Background: A public offering or "Initial Public Offering" means that a company is transferred from being unlisted to trading on a stock exchange. When a company is listed, the company needs to establish a prospectus. This document is meant to give potential investors information about the operations in the company with both historical financial data and more descriptive information. The prospectus should therefore contain all necessary information needed to make a well-founded assessment about the IPO. Historically IPOs have tended to overperform in the short term and have an underperformance in the long run compared with already listed companies. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the general return patterns for IPOs in Sweden in both short-term and in the long run. The study also aims to investigate whether the company's prospectus published in connection with the IPO can explain these yield patterns. Methodology: The general return patterns have been calculated using the Buy and Hold Abnormal Return (BHAR) and Cumulative Abnormal Return (CAR) methods. The raw returns shown by the IPOs have been adjusted to the chosen reference index to determine whether an over- or underperformance has taken place. In addition, several multiple regressions have been conducted to determine whether selected variables can explain the abnormal return shown by IPOs. Conclusion: The study results shows that the initial return on the first day of the 2007-2014 period was an average of 2.82% for the study's selection of 45 public offerings from Stockholmsbörsen and First North. The IPOs showed a negative trend with an underperformance in the first three months. The result for the short term is thus not consistent with previous research in IPOs. In the long run, however, the study's selection shows an underperformance of -12.85% measured with BHAR and -24.13% with CAR. This result is consistent with previous studies in other markets. Furthermore, only one of the selected variables, the initial return, could to some extent (16.8%) explain the abnormal return for the first month. The other variables were not statistically significant in any of the studied periods.
Bakgrund: En börsintroduktion eller "Initial Public Offering" innebär att ett företag övergår från att vara onoterad till att handlas på en aktiebörs. I samband med att ett företag börsnoteras behöver företaget upprätta ett prospekt. Detta dokument ska ge potentiella investerare information om verksamheten av både beskrivande kvalitet och historiska finansiella data som kan kvantifieras av investeraren. Ett prospekt bör således innehålla all nödvändig information för att göra en välgrundad bedömning. Vidare har börsintroduktioner historiskt visat att dessa tenderar att överprestera på kort sikt och underpresterar på lång sikt jämfört med redan börsnoterade företag. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att identifiera generella avkastningsmönster för börsintroduktioner på kort- och lång sikt i Sverige. Studien ämnar även att undersöka om företagets prospekt som publiceras i samband med börsintroduktionen kan förklara dessa avkastningsmönster. Metod: De generella avkastningsmönstrena har beräknats med hjälp av metoden Buy and Hold Abnormal Return (BHAR) och Cumulative Abnormal Return (CAR). Avkastningen som börsintroduktionerna uppvisar har justerats till valt referensindex för att avgöra huruvida en över- eller underprestation har skett. Vidare har flertal multipla regressioner genomförts för att fastställa om utvalda variabler kan förklara den abnormala avkastningen som börsintroduktioner uppvisar. Slutsats: Studiens resultat visar att den initiala avkastningen första dagen under perioden 2007–2014 var i genomsnitt 2,82% för studiens urval på 45 stycken börsintroduktioner på Stockholmsbörsen och First North. Börsintroduktionerna visade på en negativ trend med en underprestation de första tre månaderna. Resultatet för kort sikt överensstämmer således inte med tidigare forskning inom börsintroduktioner. Na busca por entender de que forma profissionais de contabilidade estão analisando e repassando informações, o objetivo geral do trabalho é mostrar o processo de decisão em ambiente contábil sob a ótica da Teoria dos Prospectos, buscando demostrar que as decisões, são baseadas principalmente em julgamentos, contribuindo para consciência das imperfeições dos julgamentos e decisões. O objetivo específico é testar de que forma os efeitos Framing, e Certeza podem moldar uma tomada de decisão dentro do ambiente contábil. Sendo uma pesquisa descritiva, aplicou-se questionário estruturado e não disfarçado à profissionais da área de Contabilidade. O questionário foi dividido em dois tipos (I e II), dividindo assim o campo dos ganhos e das perdas. Procurou-se através da análise do resultado dos questionários evidenciar o impactos dos efeitos nesses profissionais. Dentre o resultado, pode-se constatar que de maneira geral as questões que envolvem certeza no campo dos ganhos são as mais procuradas entre os respondentes. É possível identificar a presença do Efeito Framing. Em relação ao gênero, é possível identificar maior impacto do Efeito Framing nos homens que nas mulheres. Os Efeitos Certeza e Pseudocerteza se fazem presentes em ambos os gêneros o que demostra certa cautela frente a tomada de decisão. Através desse estudo buscou-se auxiliar os decisores na tarefa de repensar seus atuais processos de tomada de decisão, por meio da conscientização de que são dotados de uma racionalidade limitada e que seus julgamentos são passivos de desvios.
In seeking to understand how accounting professionals are analyzing and transmitting information, the aim of this work is to show the decision-making in accounting environment from the perspective of Prospect Theory, seeking to demonstrate that decisions are based primarily on judgments, contributing to awareness of the imperfections of the judgments and decisions. The specific objective is to test how the effects Framing, and Certainty can shape decision-making within the accounting environment. As a descriptive study, we applied a structured questionnaire and did not disguise the accounting professionals. The questionnaire was divided into two types (I, II), thus dividing the field of gains and losses. Was sought by examining the results of the questionnaires show the impact of these effects professionals. Among the results, one can see that in general the issues involved in the field of sure gains are the most sought after among the respondents. You can identify the presence of Framing Effects. Regarding gender, it is possible to identify the greatest impact Framing Effect in men than in women. The Effect Certainty are present in both sexes which demonstrates caution before making a decision. Through this study we sought to assist decision makers in the task of rethinking their current decision-making processes, through the awareness that they are endowed with a bounded rationality and that their judgments are passive deflections.

Capital market is an important part of the economy. Its development undoubtedly influences efficiency of the economy and thus the overall development of the country. This master thesis analyze the process of initial public offering ("IPO") in the Czech Republic, because I believe that IPO can significantly help to develop capital market and thus the entire economy. I analyze the IPO process in terms of the main factors that affect the value of issued shares and through it the basic objective of the joint-stock company in IPO, to maximize equity gained from the process of going public. The analysis shows that significant weaknesses in the Czech regulation have been removed and the IPO process is regulated on the same level and in the same extend as in other EU countries. However, IPO remains an option that many companies do not involve in their strategic planning because of its complexity and high costs. Thorough preparation and analysis of legal options of how to go public in the legal environment can maximize profits from the issue and, moreover, it contributes to achieving higher long-term profits.
