Full textCrisis are extremely difficult to predict and according to Curtin, Hayman and Husein (2005) this is a problem that worsen by the trend in the 1970s and 80s where companies developed managers to be specialists. One example of this trend could be that a finance
director knows only about finance, likewise for the marketing director, the technology director and operations director who all have their specialist fields. This kind of approach will lead to gaps in the management structure, since a finance director who is
driven by profits and earnings per share would most probably lose sight of the bigger picture which will prevent the chances of predicting any crisis (Curtin et al., 2005). This kind of thinking began to change in the 1990s and a new approach came into vogue
where managers were produced to be far more rounded than they were previously, as a generalist (Curtin et al., 2005). Our purpose is to find out how crisis emerge in projects and investigate the role of emotion in crisis management.
The qualitative method is best suited to fulfil our aim since we are interested in individual’s personal experiences and personal reflections related to crisis management. The reason for us not choosing the quantitative method is that we do not wish to measure or create statistical generalizations about crisis management, it is rather to describe the essence of crisis management and issues related to crisis management, also how crisis is perceived from organizations. We therefore performed interviews with respondents that were of interest for our purpose.
With all the information and knowledge gathered throughout our research we believe that when it comes to the abilities of the project managers to predict and prevent crisis, it is correct that managers have different and perhaps better education than 30 years ago
but when everything comes around it is still next to impossible to completely be able to prevent crisis. We came to this conclusion after done our research and realized that even though every project manager who has been involved in any crisis can not completely
prevent the same crisis to happen again.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to investigate the project manager's experience of crisis management by examining the current situation with Covid-19 and what new challenges they face due to the pandemic. To find out, a qualitative study was conducted with semi-structured interviews. The study's selection process was targeted at project managers from the construction industry. The data material from the interviews was analyzed through a thematic analysis and resulted in five themes. The results of the study show that a crisis management plan is an important tool when a crisis occurs and that project managers with greater experience have an easier time managing their work tasks during a crisis compared with new project managers. The results also show that project managers have encountered several challenges during a crisis such as communication and social presence. A communication plan should be in place in the event of a crisis to make it easier for project managers to delegate tasks and streamline operations. The telework due to Covid-19 also led to a reduction in the personal contact between the project manager and the employee, which created a challenge for project managers to keep track of their employees' well-being.

Full textInteractional uncertainty is a relevant subject, but very little research has been done about the impacts on cooperation in interorganizational projects. The study focuses on the main question in which ways are interactional uncertainty handled in interorganizational projects. To answer the question an organizational perspective was used to explore in what ways interactional uncertainty affects cooperation within interorganizational projects. This study uses a deductive perspective by examining literature concerning interactional uncertainty, interorganizational project and embeddedness. A case study regarding how interactional uncertainty can be prevented was implemented through a qualitative method. The collection of data consisted of in-depth interviews concerning the themes cooperation, uncertainty, crisis management and trust. This study concludes that interactional uncertainty has an impact on cooperation and that preventative gear can reduce the interactional uncertainty. The study contributes with development and tools for managing interactional uncertainty.

Full textRelevance of the topic: in modern conditions of a pandemic and the current intense competition, the role of strategic planning determines the stability and stability of the enterprise. The goal is to develop a methodological approach and practical tools for the implementation of the company's anti-crisis strategy based on the “company strategy” strategy using project management technologies. Objectives: to study the theoretical aspects of the basic strategies for getting the company out of the crisis and project technologies in implementing the strategy; analyze the external and internal environment of the company and justify the transition to the "blue ocean" strategy; The project is a project to implement the company's anti-crisis strategy and make recommendations to reduce project risks. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the expansion of the implementation of anti-crisis strategic strategies of the "blue ocean"; adapting the blue ocean strategy as a firm's anti-crisis strategy; improving the methodology for implementing the "blue ocean" strategy through the use of project management technologies. The proposed set of methods for the development and implementation of an anti-crisis strategy SP Karamysheva S.V. Also, the proposed methods can be applied, which are achieved in the search for growth opportunities who want to increase the value of their goods and services for consumers, avoiding direct competition. As a result of solving the tasks, the following conclusions were obtained: As an alternative anti-crisis marketing strategy, the strategy of the “blue ocean” and the analytical tools necessary for developing a strategy were considered: as a strategic canvas, a model of four actions, a lattice “abolish - reduce - increase - create”. Based on the core values of consumers, the need was identified to create a product that has a colorful and attractive appearance and a natural composition without the use of synthetic additives. The chosen strategy of the “blue ocean” allows the company to get out of the crisis situation by reconstructing the boundaries of the market, and also enables the company to carry out market activities, avoiding costly direct competition. And the use of project management technologies in the development of an anti-crisis strategy is to carry out the process of implementation and development at the same time, which is extremely necessary in a crisis. Within the framework of this master's thesis, based on the creation of a new company strategy, recommendations were given for the reconstruction of the market boundaries, which consists in opening a new target market segment, changing the functional and emotional attractiveness of the product for consumers, as well as expanding the product distribution channels.

Full textThe oil crisis of 1974 strikes quite hard the energy consumption. First of all, this crisis has disturbed the daily consumption, the companies which consume a lot of energy (steel, automobile, etc.) Then the State which reduced the oil taxes to settle the public market. The citizens, especially the Parisians who have a little reserve of energy resources may need to change their consumption habits. Reducing the energy consumption in the buildings becomes a necessity and the government has to show the example. The public, new, renewed or restored buildings, display the examples that the government wants to give of its new position. Dealing with the question of energy savings in public buildings, is also showing the governmental interest towards its public sector. See how the traditions and the decisions in the energy management and the new technical means applied to the construction of buildings are the purposes of this research, which highlights this problem and applies it to some of the public buildings realized recently after the oil crisis of 1974 in Ile-de-France

Full textTraditional project management methodologies are considered rigid and suitable only for environments of little uncertainty. However nowadays increasing number of projects is being developed in high complexity and uncertainty environment, requiring different approaches for project management: less rigid and more flexible. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to present a framework for managing projects under uncertainties, through a systematic literature review. The developed framework, based on the contingency theory, suggests that approaches for project management under uncertainty are, in part, determined by the characteristics of the existing uncertainties. The responses for uncertainty can be driven by the cause or consequence of the uncertainties and those are chosen according to the ability to influence the cause, which is higher for internal uncertainties and lower for external uncertainties. The flexibility of the project management approach, in its turn, is impacted by the uncertainty degree. Six case studies and a pilot case study were conducted in projects with complexity. The cases showed that there is a relation between the source of the uncertainty and the ability to influence, and between the ability to influence and the orientation of the responses. They also pointed out the importance of flexibility to manage uncertainties, combining prediction methods, the instructionism, such as using risk management, and resilience, especially the ability of the management to admit the existence of uncertainties. The cases also indicated that the highest is the project uncertainty, the highest is the need for flexibility. The paper also presents the limitation of the research, and suggestions for further works.

Denna fallstudie undersöker ”gender mainstreaming” i organisationen Women in Informal Employment: Globalising and Organising (WIEGO) i relation till miljöproblem.

Taiwan is in the Circum-Pacific seismic belt, and Tai-tung Longitudinal Valley in east Taiwan is just on the edge of Eurasia Plate and Philippine Sea plate. Due to the effect of the action of compression plate, there are many earthquakes in Taiwan. In addition, rivers in Taiwan are short and steep as well as cause fast flow, that will crosscut mountains into the valley, by the way, Taiwan’s location is just in the frontier of palm rain and in the western pacific typhoon path, so Taiwan usually have natural disasters like storms and floods, etc. Taiwan still had natural disasters and serious accidents since Pachang events happened and when those happened, relevant units in the government usually could not deal well in real time so causing blamed and questioned by people. When a serious disaster happens, local governments are responsible for the first line of relief work, but because most of local government leaders do not have concepts of the disaster prevention and relief work, and they often neglect the disaster preparedness, so they will rush in deal with disasters. Crisis Management is an action of planning and processing after crisis events happened. Its main purpose is to confirm crisis and uses proper processes, steps, essentials timely to reduce damages of people’s life and property as well as integrates human, material and financial resources effectively to restore orders in limited time for ensuring social stability. So this essay uses concepts and architectures of Crisis Management , and quotes “Project Management Matrix” from “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge”, as well as applies five for project integration management knowledge area, project scope management, project time management, project human resource management and project communication management to review government’s processing with the 88 Flood. This research focuses on the prestige of government’s crisis management, the command implementation of the disaster prevention and rescue and communication issues between central and local governments, as well as uses project modeling of crisis management for understanding advantages and disadvantages of government’s disaster prevention and relief administration in deal with the 88 Flood.

In recent years, in view of the global warming and climate change, the hydrological transformation caused by various constructions, the undercurrent of the reef vortex in the open waters, and the rise of people’s consciousness, and strive to protect their own rights and interests, even if there are dangerous waters with announcements, there are still many people who are water-based, or who are still engaged in water activities despite the safety of their maritime phobias, have repeatedly spread the cases of disaster relief, which not only makes the disaster prevention and rescue personnel exhausted, consumes national resources, but also causes major public opinion and affects the government as a whole. The image shows that the government should be more active in formulating relevant policies and implementing safety management. Taiwan is an island-type country. The natural environment around the sea is rich in marine ecological resources. It has the opportunity to develop recreational activities in the waters. With the national development policy, open coastal control and coastal recreation areas, people are increasingly active in water recreation. In addition, the government has promoted the "water supply" (Ministry of Education, 2010) and "Building Sports Island" (Executive Sports Committee, 2010) and other projects to promote the water recreation activities. The integration of various resources is not easy, and it is difficult to effectively implement the hydrophilic education of the Chinese people. The Surabaya incident continues to rise. According to the Disaster Prevention Law and the Measures for the Management of Recreational Activities in the Waters, the Ministry of Communications is the competent authority for the disaster prevention and rescue operations of the Central Committee of the Shipwreck (Ministry of Justice, 2017); the other recreational activities of the waters are within the jurisdiction of the jurisdiction, and are governed by specific administrative agencies or municipalities. The county (city) government is responsible for management (Ministry of Transportation, 2016). Although the Marine Commission''s Sea Guarding Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Sea Guarding Agency) is not the competent authority, it is also duty-bound for the shipwreck search and rescue to be the statutory power of the Sea Guard. Therefore, this study is based on the documentary data of the shipwreck search and rescue system, which is based on the content analysis method, which is based on the procedures of the sea patrol search and rescue operation, relevant domestic laws and international search and rescue regulations, supplemented by qualitative in-depth interview research, through interviews with respondents. Obtaining information and attempting to introduce the meaning of risk management and crisis management theory, exploring the situation of the sea patrol agency assisting the management organs in carrying out the rescue work at sea and the implementation of the inter-shore life-saving task at the grassroots level, and summarizing and analyzing it to provide policy advice and policy.

In March 2013, the vice president Andrew, with many years of work experience, was reading newsletters on the table which reported about RT project recently. He was conscious of the project would be disturbed due to these reported media, and would become more complicated if not handled properly. The continue media would have caused the influence for execution and improvement for this project. Beside that, with the future attentions from media the potential risks will be enlarging. As the media reported that "Cable incident has caused construction progress was delay;….if the situation couldn’t get improved soon”, it would cause the progress continuously going behind, and would doubt about the project". The Cable work was the core item and critical portion for this project. Now, beside the media’s wide range of criticizing coverage has seriously struck down the team’s morale, in addition to the challenge for improvement the technical problems they were facing. The paused progress and the depressed morale has caused the time frame of the project as well. Under the condition that how to well mange public good and satisfy the public’s right to know at the meantime, the challenges were how to reunite a demoralized team and how to timely propose solutions to improve the situation before the media’s influence extends further. The project management problems of government executing various large-scale public projects would be discussed in case studies. The large-scale projects of government always cover a broad and wide range, and with following features: "large-scale, complexity, long duration, profession, argument, high risks, attractive". In order to reasonably control each construction stage, a team with good knowledge and diverse vision for project management was required to take on all task and work assigned. Especially, when the project blocked or the benefit conflicted, that would be expected to achieve the work and objectives of the project under a limited resources and time constraint.

Derivado desta tendência algumas cadeias registaram desempenhos aquém do expectável, nomeadamente a McDonald’s.
