The scientific article analyzes the importance and relevance of media education. The author provides teachers with the pedagogical foundations of teaching media education in the field of information literacy in the field of vocational education. The scientific article takes into account the fact that the development of information technology in the world contributes to the latest trends in the development of pedagogical personnel and pedagogical technologies in the development of media education in the educational process, assuming that the younger generation will be crucial for information. In the article, the author draws on scientific conclusions, citing examples of the importance and necessity of media education. Considering that information technologies are developing in society, the ways of teacher education are analyzed in a scientific article. The development of science and technology is associated with the need for widespread use and application of the latest technological methods and equipment in the direction of vocational guidance and the role of media education in this direction.

Media technologies make it simple for students to access accurate information wherever and whenever they want at a lower cost, however, many studies show that children do not see a difference between the real world and the fictional media world until they reach the age of 12. This study aims to determine primary school students' professional activity adaptation based on media technologies. The study was conducted in the spring term of 2020 - 2021, with 339 elementary school students voluntarily participating. The "Media technologies" questionnaire developed by the researchers was applied to primary school students. The questionnaire was developed and edited by experts in the field. Collected data were analyzed using an SPSS program. Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, One Way Anova, and T-test were applied to analyze the data obtained from the media technologies survey. According to the results of the study, it was concluded that elementary school students have high results in determining media technologies concepts.

Introduction. The article examines the problem of using authentic media texts in the professional foreign language instruction of students studying international relations. The purpose of the article is to identify the main advantages and controversial aspects of using foreign media texts, to propose a step-by-step algorithm for their analysis, as well as recommendations aimed at neutralizing their impact on students. Materials and Methods. For this study, the following methods were used: analysis of scholarly and theoretical literature and authentic teaching materials, survey and questionnaires, analysis of empirical data and their systematization. The empirical study was conducted over two years. The research sample consisted of university students from nine groups (n = 79) studying advanced German as a second foreign language at MGIMO University of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Results. The article summarizes the experience of studying the process of professionally oriented foreign language teaching, built on the basis of authentic media texts. The advantages of their application are revealed: the texts of foreign language media are available, relevant, and diverse in style and genre characteristics. They are considered as a source of cultural and professional-relevant information. Their implementation has a positive effect on the development of all language skills and types of speech, affects the development of verbal and non-verbal speech, and increases motivation. The negative aspects include the following: foreign texts often have an ideological orientation, consequently, they are able to influence the recipient’s opinion, their consciousness and subconsciousness, manipulate ideas about events and phenomena of the surrounding reality. The proposed algorithm for analyzing the media text includes the following stages: evaluating the mass media, analyzing the subject matter of the text, considering the historical period of its writing, identifying the main realities, hypotheses and argumentation of the author, and ideologized structures. The final stages are comparing the source with texts in a foreign or native language, building a personal position, and mastering lexical and grammatical means of expression. Conclusions. As a result of the study, with the aim of using the advantages and leveling the negative impact, recommendations were proposed and an algorithm for analyzing the media text was developed. The implementation of this algorithm allows students to preserve their cultural identity, and prepare for professional communication.

Culture today is experiencing a state defined by most researchers as “critical”, “threshold”, “moral or spiritual apocalypse”. One of the main problems is the devaluation of spiritual values, which leads to the destruction of the connection between society and academic culture.The multi-channel and all-consuming system of mass communications (media) has begun to play an increasingly decisive role in modern society. As an alternative to spontaneous dissemination of information flows, the concepts of “media culture” and “media art” arise, which makes it possible to combine aesthetic searches with modern media, the best opportunities of which should be used in the field of academic culture dissemination. That is why the issues of artistic enlightenment, professional dissemination of academic culture in the new information space, the focus of spiritual, moral and aesthetic guidelines, as well as the training of potential musical educators within the initial professional stage are so relevant today. The proposed experimental model of children’s musical enlightenment is aimed at teaching the popularization of academic music, disseminating acquired knowledge about music in the context of related arts, on the basis of a unified three-stage educational music enlightening system.The purpose of the presented project is to develop and implement the model on the basis of the existing primary state music education (of preschool, school and post-school professionally-oriented levels) using the achievements of media technologies. The presented model will contribute to the most harmonious development of individual creative abilities of students, the formation of their active life position, and the provision of their primary professional and activity competencies in the field of musical enlightenment, which can help optimize primary art education.

This article is devoted to the problem of implementing the competency-based approach to the educational process of the university in the preparation of future biology teachers. The authors consider practice-oriented pedagogical technologies that contribute to the formation of subject competencies: problem-based learning technology, project-based learning technology, discussion technology, media technology, game technology (business, role-playing, simulation games), case technology (situation analysis), portfolio technology , quasi-professional technologies. Their use in the process of professional training of a biology teacher gives the learning process a productive character, increases the motivation, independence and activity of students in the course of educational activities. In addition, the ways of creating the conditions for the use of educational technologies in the practice of variably preparing a biology teacher through the organization of various forms of practice- oriented students' activities aimed at the formation of subject competencies are considered.

The article examined one of the priority areas of social development — media education. The transition to a new technological system has caused major changes in media education. Digitalization processes influence the system of higher vocational education and highlight the fact that media education should be aimed at developing students' skills relevant to new digital environment. The originality of the research is the fact that media education is one of the factors that ensures that students are able to adjust to innovative economy of the Russian Federation. The study examined the regional demand for trained media literate professionals. The research proposed a model of media education for students majoring in journalism and a special educational program to develop professional competencies taking into account the media discourse in the region. The article discussed one of the components of the model of strategically oriented media education — the integrative course of additional vocational education. We found that graduates who participated in media education program not only improved their professional competencies defined by the government standard, but also acquired additional skills such as the ability to form media culture of the target audience. This kind of focus of educational efforts increased their competitiveness in the regional labor market. The proposed model of media education of future journalists, which integrates information and communication environment of the university in sync with current industry requirements; media technologies as part of the core subjects, and the advanced training program that focuses on the management of media literacy of the audience, has shown its effectiveness. Teaching methodology presented by the authors develops value and belief system that has ongoing professional media education at its core. It also fosters the development of mass media culture in digital environment.

Introduction. Personnel training for the tourism industry able to meet the challenges of its development in a particular region is one of the priorities of specialized universities. Digital technologies in a global creative economy require new approaches to the choice of training content and applied pedagogical technologies. The aim of the article is to develop and test the model of foreign language learning through the creation of professionally integrated Internet content, focused on information and advertising promotion of tourism products of the Republic of Karelia (Russian Federation). Materials and methods. The methodology is based on the comparative analysis of the data, formalized open and closed questionnaire surveys and expert assessment. A survey was conducted among 42 hospitality students of Petrozavodsk State University (Russian Federation). Results. The experimental training in group interaction creating a digital professionally oriented product stimulated the formation of digital, communicative and soft skills. Comparative analysis of the obtained data revealed a high level of development of these competencies among the experimental group students. Their indicators were significantly higher (p=0.0001) in the skill of creating a digital tourism media product and in the ability to interact in a team (φemp =3.655, p≤0.01), as well as in presentation skills for tourism product promotion in a digital environment (φemp =1.878, p≤0.05). Discussion and conclusion. The conducted research revealed the effectiveness of the author's methodology of English teaching in a professionally integrated digital environment for the development of skills that ensure competitiveness in the hospitality industry. Recommendations for intensification of teaching foreign languages in tourism through individual and group interdisciplinary digital projects are offered.

The article provides comparative analysis of the forms, methods, means of the future specialists of pre-school education preparation at the universities of Ukraine and Poland to realization of media education for children and their parents. The achievements of Polish higher educational institutions have been shown: the study of courses “Media Pedagogics”, “Media in Education” the main forms of teaching, these subjects are lectures, practical classes, conversations, master classes; methods –interactive, project, demonstration of films on the formation of media literacy; analysis of media products for the pre-schoolers. The achievements of the Ukrainian pedagogical science have been highlighted, in particular the development of the complex of professionally oriented technologies for the formation of readiness of the future kindergartners for the use of media education. The focus is on the activity of the Academy of Ukrainian Press in forming the readiness of kindergartners, university teachers for media education, in particular organization of summer schools and the publication of the necessary literature. Author’s interpretation of the concept “Media Education in the Establishment of Pre-School Education” has been proposed. The results of experimental researches in Poland and Ukraine have been presented. The necessity of providing system character of media education has been proved. The possibilities of using positive ideas in the field of media education at higher and pre-school educational institutions have been substantiated: the continuous nature of study of topics on the formation of pre-school children media literacy at universities; development of didactic-methodical support of media education; carrying out master-classes on the media topics at pre-school age. The ways of prevention of media threats for children through the organization of parental media education, improvement of training for its implementation have been determined. The necessity to use traditional media, namely books, children’s press together with modern ones has been emphasized. The expediency of studying the experience of national and foreign institutions of pre-school education, which implement individually developed media education programs for children, has been shown. The attention has been focused on the “Preschooler in the Media World” program.

The article analyzes the current problems of educational policy in general and outlines the strategies for training future professionals and trends in competency-based training of future professionals in Ukrainian universities as its component. It is emphasized that the competence approach is the main direction of renewal of vocational education in the modern world, which provides a position in the educational process, which contributes to the experience of a holistic systemic vision of professional activity, systemic actions in it, solving new problems and tasks. Analysis of the works of leading scientists of today shows a significant interest in the problems of formation and development of professional competence in higher education, the application of the competence approach in the formation of future professionals; characteristics of competence in the education of foreign countries, the emergence and formation of a competency approach. The vector of higher education development makes it possible to identify a range of trends that confirm the transformation and allow to predict certain changes and design appropriate actions. Among them, we focus on those that are a direct indicator of changes in the organization and construction and conduct of the educational process in higher education institutions, in particular in universities: the accumulation of knowledge; gender policy; humanitarian knowledge; use of available resources; development of paradigms; development of scientific activity; development of the world ICT market; ethno-national processes; media globalization; development of the socio-cultural situation in society; innovation and investment activities, etc. This, of course, is not a complete list, but it is these positions that define the broad panorama of approaches that characterize modern university education. Сompetence (competency) is a dynamic combination of knowledge, skills, values and personal qualities that describe the learning outcomes of the educational / curriculum and is the basis of the qualification of the graduate. Competencies are considered as the powers given to a person, the range of official (and other) rights and responsibilities. Thus, when talking about the implementation of the competency approach, we must outline the expected / obtained learning outcomes in accordance with the assigned qualifications.

Online guidance and counseling services began to thrive during the Covid-19 pandemic in the 21st century. The emergence of online-based media and platforms offers various facilities that can support guidance and counseling services more effectively, efficiently, and professionally. Electronic devices that can be used are computers, smartphones, tape recorders, and several technology devices. Technological sophistication attracts participation in various life activities, including education-oriented communication processes. Guidance and counseling are part of educational activities. A collaboration of technological sophistication with guidance and counseling can be supported through attractive features in a device. Emojis are one of the features available on some technology devices. Generally, emojis are used in the communication process to represent feelings and thoughts when conveying messages without the need to write a complete statement. This writing aims to provide information about emojis in online guidance and counseling service media. The writing method used is a literature study, data sources obtained from research articles and books relevant to writing. The data source analysis results show that emojis have a significant effect on the application of online guidance and counseling services for counselees in schools.

This paper starts by an explanation of the context of personal branding and online personal branding and the problem identified by the authors. Thus, the purpose of the study is to investigate on the perception of students towards online personal branding through their own personal brand and with the perspective of matching employer’s expectations. A section reviewing online personal branding and related literature is provided in order to describe among others, the several components of the elaboration of an online personal brand and the different employers’ expectations towards this brand. Next, a section describing the different methods used in the study is implemented. The data of this paper is gathered through 13 semistructured interviews based on an operationalization of the different concepts presented in the theoretical framework section. The results are then presented in the empirical investigation section following recurrent identified themes bring by the respondents: The need to fit the norm, to stand out and of control. Then the data is analyzed through the theories and is therefore following the different components of an elaboration of a personal brand including the different items related to employer’s consideration and practices. Then the conclusion is drawing in order to answering the research question as well as providing some acknowledgement and recommendations. This paper has permitted to describe the perception of student towards online personal branding with the perspective of matching employers’ expectations. This perception is a rather incomplete online personal brand, consisting of a normalized image of the self, a tool for a certain self-realization towards a limited audience and a have a certain perception of an overall control of this online personal brand.

Міжнародна академічна мобільність у галузі вищої освіти прискорила такий напрямок міжнародної діяльності, як навчання іноземних студентів. Серед запропонованих міністерством спеціальностей найбільшим попитом користуються спеціальності медичного профілю. Зважаючи на це, актуальним залишаються питання щодо якісної мовної підготовки іноземних студентів з урахуванням майбутньої професійної спрямованості. Проте спостереження за навчальним процесом та досвід роботи показали, що студенти недостатньо володіють професійною лексикою, зазнають труднощів із засвоєнням навчального матеріалу під час лекційних та практичних занять. Одним із напрямів покращання ситуації, що склалася, є застосування професійно-орієнтованого навчання.

Головним завданням іншомовної підготовки майбутніх ІТ-фахівців є навчання професійно орієнтованої та практично спрямованої іншомовної комунікації, в результаті чого першочерговими стають: взаємозалежне формування і розвиток мовних навичок і умінь як основи іншомовної професійно-орієнтованої комунікації; орієнтація на практичне застосування мов у реальному інформаційному середовищі; широке залучення провідних фахівців в галузі інформаційних технологій до побудови та реалізації професійних проектів.The theses consider a variety of principles for modernizing the foreign language training of future IT professionals, which include: the principles of comprehensive integrity, professional mobility, authenticity, advanced development. The main task of the foreign language training of future IT specialists is the training of professionally oriented and practically oriented foreign-language communication including the following priorities: interdependent formation and development of language skills and abilities as the basis of foreign language vocational communication; orientation to the practical use of languages in the real informational environment; widespread involvement of leading IT professionals in the design and implementation of professional projects.
В тезисах рассматриваются различные принципы модернизации иноязычной профессиональной подготовки будущих ИТ-специалистов, к которым отнесены: принципы всесторонней интегративности, профессиональной мобильности, аутентичности, опережающего развития. Главной задачей иноязычной подготовки будущих ИТ-специалистов является обучение профессионально ориентированной и практически направленной иноязычной коммуникации, в результате чего первоочередными становятся: взаимосвязанное формирование и развитие речевых навыков и умений как основы иноязычной профессионально-ориентированной коммуникации; ориентация на практическое применение языков в реальной информационной среде; широкое привлечение ведущих специалистов в области информационных технологий к созданию и реализации профессиональных проектов.

Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar e propor uma metodologia para o ensino de história. Tal metodologia considera duas características específicas das sociedades tecnológicas na inter-relação com as práticas escolares: a cultura midiática que o aluno e o professor carregam em seu interior para o interior da escola, e os processos de formação continuada do professor. Visa-se com tal metodologia colaborar com um ensino de história significativo para alunos e professores, e que a história seja instrumento de compreensão da vida cotidiana e processo contínuo de formação. A pesquisa possibilitou a elaboração de uma proposta teórico-metodológica denominada como atividade de ensino de história. Os referenciais teóricos que sustentam esta proposta são: a teoria da atividade de Aléxis Leontiev que se insere no conjunto da corrente histórico-cultural em psicologia; os pressupostos da pedagogia da comunicação que traz em seu interior o princípio didático do agir comunicacional; as pesquisas que analisam os conceitos de professor reflexivo-investigativo e o professor pesquisador; a historiografia que se identifica com a análise da cultura em diferentes temporalidades. Os referenciais teórico-metodológicos foram utilizados para analisar um conjunto de quatro atividades de ensino de história realizadas entre os anos de 1997-2000 em escolas da rede pública e particular de ensino da cidade de São Paulo. Os dados deste conjunto de aulas foram coletados pelo pesquisador que se serviu dos princípios metodológicos da pesquisa-ação. A análise dos dados à luz da fundamentação teórico-metodológica assumida possibilitou a explicitação de princípios orientadores da construção de atividades de ensino de história. Concluiu-se pela viabilidade de tal proposta e de sua inclusão nos debates sobre ensino de história.The main goal of this research is to analyze and to propose a methodology for history teaching. Such methodology takes into account two specific characteristics of technological societies in the interrelationship with school practices: the media culture that both student and teacher bring along to school, and teachers continuing education process. Such methodology is intended to contribute towards a more meaningful teaching of History for both parties involved teachers and students in such a way that History becomes a more comprehensive tool in interpreting day-to-day events as well as a continuing education process. The research made it possible to elaborate a theoretical-methodological approach we called History teaching activity. The theoretical milestones upon which such approach is based are: Aléxis Leontiev´s theory of activity, which is part of the historic-cultural approach in psychology; the fundamentals of communication pedagogy and its didactic principle of a communication-oriented attitude; the research which analyzes the concepts of the investigative teacher and the researcher teacher; historiography which identifies itself with culture analysis in different periods in time. The theoretical-methodological references were used to analyze a set of four History teaching activities that took place along the years 1997 to 2000, in public and private schools in the city of São Paulo. The data of these classes were gathered by the researcher who then used the research-action methodological principles. The analysis of the data in the light of such theoretical-methodological principles made it possible for the researcher to show the principles that oriented the construction of History teaching activities. Such proposal was believed to be valid as well as its inclusion in the debate about history teaching.

Untersucht werden dafür die Strukturen religiös motivierte Spenden, für die in der islamischen Tradition die Begriffe „zakat“, „Waqf“ oder im Plural auch „awqaf-“ oder „Sadaqa“ verwendet werden, der christliche Begriff dafür lautet „tithes“ oder „ushour“. Aufbauend auf diesem theoretischen Rahmenwerk analysiert die qualitative und quantitative Feldstudie auf nationaler Ebene, wie die ägyptische Öffentlichkeit Philanthropie, soziale Gerechtigkeit, Menschenrechte, Spenden, Freiwilligenarbeit und andere Konzepte des zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagements wahrnimmt. Um eine umfassende und repräsentative Datengrundlage zu erhalten, wurden 2000 Haushalte, 200 zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen erfasst, sowie Spender, Empfänger, religiöse Wohltäter und andere Akteure interviewt. Die so gewonnen Erkenntnisse lassen aussagekräftige Aufschlüsse über philanthropische Trends zu. Erstmals wird so auch eine finanzielle Einschätzung und Bewertung der Aktivitäten im lokalen Wohltätigkeitsbereich möglich, die sich auf mehr als eine Billion US-Dollar beziffern lassen. Die Erhebung weist nach, dass gemessen an den Pro-Kopf-Aufwendungen die privaten Spendenaktivitäten weitaus wichtiger sind als auswärtige wirtschaftliche Hilfe für Ägypten. Das wiederum lässt Rückschlüsse zu, welche Bedeutung lokale Wohltätigkeit erlangen kann, wenn sie richtig gesteuert wird und nicht wie bislang oft im Teufelskreis von ad-hoc-Spenden oder Hilfen von Privatperson an Privatperson gefangen ist. Die Studie stellt außerdem eine Verbindung her zwischen lokalen Wohltätigkeits-Mechanismen, die meist auf religiösen und kulturellen Werten beruhen, und modernen Strukturen, wie etwa Gemeinde-Stiftungen oder Gemeinde-„waqf“, innerhalb derer die Spenden eine nachhaltige Veränderung bewirken können. Daher bietet diese Arbeit also eine umfassende wissenschaftliche Grundlage, die nicht nur ein besseres Verständnis, sondern auch den nachhaltiger Aus- und Aufbau lokaler Wohltätigkeitsstrukturen in Ägypten ermöglicht. Zentral ist dabei vor allem die Rolle lokaler, individueller Spenden, die beispielsweise für Stiftungen auf der Gemeindeebene eingesetzt, wesentlich zu einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung beitragen könnten – und das nicht nur in Ägypten, sondern in der gesamten arabischen Region. Als konkretes Ergebnis dieser Arbeit, wurde ein innovatives Modell entwickelt, dass neben den wissenschaftlichen Daten das Konzept der „waqf“ berücksichtigt. Der Wissenschaftlerin und einem engagierten Vorstand ist es auf dieser Grundlage gelungen, die Waqfeyat al Maadi Community Foundation (WMCF) zu gründen, die nicht nur ein Modell für eine Bürgerstiftung ist, sondern auch das tradierte Konzept der „waqf“ als praktikable und verbürgte Wohlstätigkeitsstruktur sinnvoll weiterentwickelt.This work provides a solid theoretical base on philanthropy, religious giving (Islamic zakat, ‘ushour, Waqf -plural: awqaf-, Sadaqa and Christian tithes or ‘ushour), and their implications on giving trends, development work, social justice philanthropy. The field study (quantitative and qualitative) that supports the theoretical framework reflects at a national level the Egyptian public’s perceptions on philanthropy, social justice, human rights, giving and volunteering and other concepts that determine the peoples’ civic engagement. The statistics cover 2000 households, 200 Civil Society Organizations distributed all over Egypt and interviews donors, recipients, religious people and other stakeholders. The numbers reflect philanthropic trends and for the first time provide a monetary estimate of local philanthropy of over USD 1 Billion annually. The survey proves that the per capita share of philanthropy outweighs the per capita share of foreign economic assistance to Egypt, which implies the significance of local giving if properly channeled, and not as it is actually consumed in the vicious circle of ad-hoc, person to person charity. In addition, the study relates local giving mechanisms derived from religion and culture to modern actual structures, like community foundations or community waqf that could bring about sustainable change in the communities. In sum, the work provides a comprehensive scientific base to help understand- and build on local philanthropy in Egypt. It explores the role that local individual giving could play in achieving sustainable development and building a new wave of community foundations not only in Egypt but in the Arab region at large. As a tangible result of this thesis, an innovative model that revives the concept of waqf and builds on the study’s results was created by the researcher and a dedicated board of trustees who succeeded in establishing Waqfeyat al Maadi Community Foundation (WMCF) that not only introduces the community foundation model to Egypt, but revives and modernizes the waqf as a practical authentic philanthropic structure.

On one hand, unmarried middle-class women in the single-child generations are encouraged to develop themselves as professional human capital through international education, molding themselves into independent, cosmopolitan, career-oriented individuals. On the other, strong neotraditionalist state, social, and familial pressures of the post-Mao era push them back toward marriage and family by age thirty. Martin examines these women’s motivations for studying in Australia and traces their embodied and emotional experiences of urban life, social media worlds, work in low-skilled and professional jobs, romantic relationships, religion, Chinese patriotism, and changed self-understanding after study abroad. Martin illustrates how emerging forms of gender, class, and mobility fundamentally transform the basis of identity for a whole generation of Chinese women.

This book suggests that youth civic development should be promoted by providing young people with opportunities to participate in community life. make four arguments. The first of these is that youth can be part of the solution to the problems of contemporary American democracy. The book then summarizes what political scientists say about contemporary politics and the systemic ills that have allowed ideological polarization to stymie the democratic process. Civic education must be located in the political context in which it occurs. This is because citizen participation reflects the political system and is not a consequence of citizens’ immutable characteristics. We must supply young people with opportunities. Our second argument is that civic development and civic education will not be improved by more of what we are already doing. There is scant evidence that schools successfully inculcate civic knowledge in students. There is also little evidence of the efficacy of state-mandated community service as a requirement for high school graduation. The third argument is that improving civic development will require new opportunities for youth participation in the community and in the electorate. We propose that civic education be enriched by science-based, community-oriented environmental engagement and by lowering the voting age for municipal elections to 16. Finally, we argue that now is the time to take steps to facilitate civic development. The problems of youth engagement will neither resolve on their own nor be cured by foreseeable changes in social media technologies, federal politics, or generational change.

AbstractThis chapter describes the quantitative approaches for assessing various aspects of digital transformation from the joint research and development project #ko.vernetzt. In an application-oriented case study approach, the operationalization of a maturity model of digital transformation for educational organizations (MMEO) and the design and implementation of a multi-perspective evaluation concept are outlined. While the MMEO provides a state perspective on the digital transformation of an educational organization and its employees, the evaluation concept aims at tracing developments of media-related professional competencies. MMEO has been implemented in a study with N = 222 participants, while N = 59 learners were subject to the evaluation polls. The results provide the necessary evidence for implementing and continuously improving a qualification program in the regarded research context. However, the methodology can also be transferred to other organizations in the education sector and beyond.

AbstractNew employment demands of a burgeoning Indian software service industry are spawning neo-educational structures, especially in the domain of data sciences through vibrant market mechanisms offering a scalable and industry-focused learning system. Since the 1990s, Indian software firms have developed expertise in carrying out outsourced back-office tasks and mid-level IT services like data entry, managing call centres, and performing software quality testing for foreign companies taking advantage of a technically trained local workforce. The trend of automating manual work practices in the IT industry has generated a different kind of demand for data sciences directed at upskilling and job readiness. India is witnessing a market-oriented groundswell of data science and IT skill tutoring ‘shops’, resituating science and engineering education. In this chapter we report from ethnographic research conducted in two IT skill training parks to underpin arguments about emerging neo-educational learning structures suited to a data science education for new livelihood opportunities in an IT-accredited India. Our chapter makes a case for looking at ‘data studies’ from an ethnographic perspective uncovering a ‘program’ of upward mobility through IT skilling and employment. What directions might data studies about tutoring data science skills in the Indian context lead to? Excerpts presented here from field research imagine new livelihoods, aspirations, and technology skills that are more often than not a reflection of the power of data science education.

AbstractLike other areas, the education sector is facing challenges posed by digitization. The project #ko.vernetzt supports the educational organization Kolping-Bildungswerk Paderborn in the process of digital transformation. In this article it is presented and reflected from a practice-oriented media educational perspective. The outlined qualification measures are intended to ensure sustainable development in the context of digitization for both employees and the organization itself. The processes that are presented here are viewed from the perspectives of the organization and from the viewpoint of its employees. Media education and the transfer of work-related digital competences are equally of great importance in this respect. Insights from this project can be viewed in the greater discourse and eventually applied to other contexts. The work with Kolping-Bildungswerk Paderborn and all partners involved clearly shows that a successful digitization strategy must include the participation of all stakeholders and should always be viewed from the human perspective first.

In higher education design-oriented programs, collaborations with industry can be challenging to establish because of the time demands and work priories of professionals working in the field. Education should foster these relationships to enhance the overall educational experience for students. A common form of collaboration is projects in which students are given “real-world” design problems for which they propose a solution. These types of endeavors are very much practice-based and can be especially valuable in digital media and interactive design academic programs. When education partners with industry on such practice-based projects, education can add value and potentially help sustain these collaborations by ensuring that student methods and solutions are rooted in theory and call upon the rich research and theoretical bases of these disciplines. This chapter reviews approaches that educators can use to enhance educational projects with industry partners and ultimately enrich student learning outcomes.

Describes studies and research on geoscience education in virtual worlds. A correlation between spatial reasoning skills and professional performance in many scientific fields has been demonstrated. Traditional models of education are linked by the ideas that the relationship between teacher and students is asymmetric; the teacher transmits information and the students receive it; With the Web 2.0, traditional models of education should have been passed in favor of post-cognitivist models, where knowledge is distributed, situated and embodied. In this framework of interpretation, learning is no more a task-oriented process and knowledge is no longer transmitted but shared, co-constructed, and negotiated within a learning community. Likewise, Web 2.0 learning approaches allow users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to previous websites where people were limited to passive viewing of content.

This paper describes an effective methodological strategy that the Consolidated teaching innovation group in Communication and Audiovisual Media (In-COMAV), composed of a multidisciplinary teaching team, has been developing since 2016 within the Audiovisual Communication degree program offered by the University of Barcelona. This strategy consists of promoting service-learning projects within the context of various courses. Here we present the viability criteria established for the acceptance of projects oriented toward collaboration with organizations outside the university, the critical success factors and the results that this initiative has had on students, teachers, the university and society. Such results are perceived positively, yet there are still challenges and limitations to be overcome to ensure the continuity, sustainability and effectiveness of service-learning projects in higher education.

The article highlights the current state of distance education, considers its advantages and disadvantages, and analyzes the main factors that inhibit the introduction of full-fledged distance learning of art education during the pandemic. The main problems faced by university teachers in organizing distance learning are clarified. Prospects for the introduction of distance education in the Free Economic Zone of Ukraine have been studied. The main role in the implementation of distance learning is played by modern computer technologies, which in combination with the latest educational media technologies become effective means of developing professional and critical thinking of students. Right now, society is more interested than ever in informatization and computerization of all spheres of activity, including art. Therefore, the computer is an indispensable assistant to teachers and students in mastering information flows, modeling and illustrating processes, phenomena, objects and events. High-quality mastery of music and computer technology, orients the future art teacher to the school of tomorrow and gives him a certain "margin of advance" for highly professional activities. The article considers the ways of application of innovative and music-computer technologies in the study of art disciplines, as well as the forms of their implementation, which are aimed at improving the quality of training of future professionals. The main priorities for the development of modern art education in Ukraine and the prospects of distance learning for the higher education system of Ukraine during the pandemic are identified.

Rapid IT industry development constantly requires qualified programmers capable of professional self-improvement throughout life, the driving force of which is the individual motivation which activates the individual self-development process, optimizes thinking and develops special professional qualities, moral and ethical values. The main article purpose is to analyze the state of the form of motivational readiness for future programmer’s professional self-improvement, to identify problems of its formation in colleges and to determine the ways of its increase as one of the main factors of quality improvement. To achieve it, a complex of theoretical and empirical methods was used, with help of which a number of problems were revealed which slow down the process of improving the quality of future programmers professional training. The issues of organization of various types of management of students' independent study activities have been considered. It has been reported, that there are direct, indirect, and dynamic types of management. The possibilities of ICTs in the implementation of each type of management the students' independent study activities have been shown. It has been taken into account, that the introduction of computer-oriented means of co-management and co-organization into the educational process reflects the realization student-centered concept of learning. There has been emphasized the need to use both direct and indirect types of management, which will make it possible for students to move to the position of an actor of independent study activity and capable of exercising self-government. The authors have been paid special attention to the means of developing the students' personality and forming their motivational readiness for independent study activities and self-education. It has been shown, that such necessary means include the following: to promote the development of students' self-organization, self-actualization, as well as their socialization, to encourage self-assessment and reflection throughout the process of organizing independent study activities; to personalize independent study activities, to offer personally and professionally meaningful learning tasks with clearly defined and understandable goals for a student, and to ensure their gradual complication; to create informative feedback; to strengthen students' motivation.
