Abstract:
Modern dynamic transformations in the state naturally affect the growth of social demands for the quality of management processes in various sectors of the economy. Accordingly, the need to improve future managers training at higher schools is highlighted. Due to the fact that the profession of a manager belongs to communicative professions, among the requirements for specialists in this field, the ability to communicate effectively is important. The article substantiates the necessity to take into account socio-adaptive, status-role aspects and aspects of self-expression while training future managers for professional communicative interaction; the above-mentioned aspects are considered in the context of their socio-professional adaptation to the professional environment. The social-adaptive aspect reflects the management specialists orientation on professional self-improvement by revealing the inner personal potential, the desire for continuous self-development in management activities. The status-role aspect of future managers preparation for professional communicative interaction combines functional and social contexts of management activities and is focused on the students readiness to perform efficiently socio-professional roles in the labor environment. The aspect of self-expression is related to the acquisition of self-presentation skills, which, based on self-assessment and self-regulation of a manager during communicative interaction, reflects the level of a managers ability to coordinate communicative actions and dependence on the system of internal means of their regulation. Taking these aspects into account while training future managers at higher schools will provide a basis for the implementation of efficient business relations in the labor environment, which will positively affect the process of management specialists adaptation to professional conditions and improve the quality of management processes in general. Abstract:
The article demonstrates the timeliness of the emergence in Ukraine of new positions for higher / intermediate BIM qualification specialists at modern architectural offices and construction companies during design, construction, and operational stages of an architectural object. Attention is focused on the legislative framework for the development of interrelated (architectural and construction) specialties in Ukraine. At the same time, a shortage of personnel with deep knowledge of BIM technologies is noted. Development of specialized courses and curricula for training and integration of professional BIM managers in the design and development business throughout the country is encouraged. The hierarchy of the main responsibilities and functions of BIM managers determines the list of tasks and the direction of their professional activities. Engaging specialists from real design, leading specialized institutions, educational and experimental centers for the formation of an in-depth specialized training course for top-level specialists is proposed. For the preparation of BIM managers, the concept of a training program for senior years of a specialized university, a refresher courses or other postgraduate trainings in licensed training centers has been proposed. It includes training in project administration, setting up collaboration, an interdisciplinary system, checking the model’s quality, effective organization of BIM processes themselves and within a company, as a whole. A system of organizational, technical, methodological, software and other means of ensuring the educational process is considered. The stages and specifics of professional staff development, as well as preparation for the subsequent BIM certification, have been specified.

Joseph, Janine Marcelle. "Professional development programme for middle managers at schools." Thesis, Peninsula Technikon, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11838/1905.

Full text
Abstract:
Thesis (MTech (Education))--Peninsula Technikon, Cape Town, 2005
In order for productive and positive interaction and growth to occur, schools need to be regarded as organisations with a specific purpose and aim. This means that very definite duties and responsibilities need to be structured to ensure that the organisation operates smoothly and that it achieves its aims and goals. In turn, smooth organisational operation will also determine its effectiveness and efficiency and the impact it has on educators, learners and the community. A professional development programme for middle managers might help to expand a philosophy and practice, which could help to equip middle managers of primary schools for a role in bringing about qualitative changes to address educational, needs. This study attempts to investigate the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes required by middle managers of Heads of Department (HODs) to be effective in their departments. This could be used to develop a skills development programme for middle managers in primary schools. The study as a whole is set against the research literature on the professional development of middle managers in primary schools and focuses on the following aspects: (I) managing policy; (2) managing people; (3) managing teaching and learning and (4) managing resources. In the exploration of the management roles and responsibilities of middle managers in primary schools. qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used in investigating the research questions. The research instruments used in the study included 11 semi structured questionnaires, interviews and a focus-group workshop. After the development of data collection instruments, data was collected through semi- structured questionnaires from HODs at selected 18 primary schools. Interviews were also conducted with four principals, one circuit manager, the Assistant Human Resources Consultant and the Human Resource Coordinator of the WCED. A workshop was also conducted with 35 BTech students to develop a framework for a management programme for middle managers in primary schools. The research study reveals the following aspects: (I) the Western Cape Education department has no existing skills development policy for the training of middle managers in primary schools; (2) research respondents identified a need for training in the interpretation and formulation of policies within their various departments as well as training in conflict management and counselling in order to successfully manage the human resources in their department; (3) finance is available for the training of educators but not specifically for middle managers, (4) educators prefer formal training above informal training. This thesis then examines, analyses and discusses these findings with recommendations that follow in Chapter 5.

Fox, Alison. "Leading collaborative professional enquiry : implications for teachers, chartered teachers and their managers." Thesis, University of Stirling, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/1893/1756.

Full text
Abstract:
This research explores the implications of the practice of collaborative professional enquiry on professional re-formation and development. A series of case studies focuses on four aspiring Chartered Teachers as they lead collaborative enquiries in two schools. The case studies take account of the experiences of the teachers in the collaborative groups, as well as the managers in both schools. Using a Foucauldian theoretical framework, relations of power between all participants are explored. This reveals that active positioning is in operation. The Chartered Teachers are positioned in an ‘in-between’ space: neither teacher nor manager, and this appears to have allowed them to construct and negotiate new possibilities, contributing to their developing professional identities. While this challenged the established hierarchies in schools, the teachers reported that undertaking collaborative professional enquiry under the leadership of the Chartered Teachers, benefitted themselves and their pupils, appearing to offer opportunities to demonstrate an active professionalism which was in contrast to the expectations of their managers. The findings raise several issues for consideration by the profession. These include a recommendation that collaborative professional enquiry is encouraged as a core pedagogical resource. The research also highlights the need for policy makers to take account of the way power is exercised in and on schools when developing new policies and evaluating the success of current ones. It is argued that genuine and open dialogue is necessary and it is recommended that the national CPD framework should reconsider the current practice of supporting distinctive pathways within the profession.

Severan, Debra Devillier. "A Qualitative Approach to Transfer of Training for Managers in Leadership Development." ScholarWorks, 2019. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/7570.

Full text
Abstract:
Learning and development (L&D) professionals in a Fortune 500 company were unable to determine whether managers who completed leadership development courses were transferring what they learned to their work practices. The purpose of this qualitative single instrumental case study was to uncover the factors that accelerated or impeded the transfer of training for employees in the workplace. The conceptual framework was social cognitive learning theory with emphasis on the triadic reciprocal causation model. Guiding questions were used to explore 2 areas: (a) how managers described their preparedness to transfer the training to their jobs, and (b) how managers described their perceptions of the transfer of training from the concepts learned in class to practical job application. Data were collected through one-on-one online interviews with 12 managers who had completed a leadership development course. Data analysis included organizing the data; reading them multiple times; developing codes, categories, and themes; and interpreting the findings. Over 90% of the participants stated that they felt prepared to implement the training after the class. However, only half reported a moderate to high level of confidence incorporating the training into their work. A 3-day professional development project was designed to heighten awareness of the benefits of advancing the transference and application of training with a strong focus on driving social change in the workplace through improved interpersonal skills between managers and their direct reports.

Abstract:
The dissertation presents the argument that the formal training of a professional social worker is relevant but not equivalent to the training needs of a professional manager in the social work field. Social work professionals as managers do not, without management training, have the same credibility and/or skills as professional managers of social work. Within the general topic of welfare, research is first directed to the Australian welfare experience in its historic sense. Selecting relevant philosophical and ideological frameworks the writer a) critically explores traditional and contemporary theories, with special reference being made to bureaucracy, organization, and management; b) investigates theories and practices of social workers and social work managers to ascertain their relevance to contemporary Australian society, using the A.C.T. Family Services Branch as an example of a social welfare agency. This assists in explaining the context, functions and obligations of a welfare agency, as it responds to the needs of the community and of the staff it employs.

Abstract:
AbstractWe explore the alternative explanation for barriers and facilitators for implementation of PCC evolving from human resources through the lenses of institutional theory. We have deepened the explanation by adding the perspective of different institutional logics, which shows that the physician's resistance or nurses’ support may originate from the differences in institutional logics. Working with patients by applying person-centered principles places new demands on health professionals. It is widely agreed that education and training are very important for the clarification on the roles of professionals in the person-centred care. PCC education programs were designed to be delivered through informal training, continued medical education, leadership development and training through mentors’ system. Managers, on the other hand, may support the implementation of PCC, but their motivation may be less oriented to increase of service quality, than gaining higher external legitimacy of the organization and increase organizational access to external resources. Therefore, managers may not implement sufficient control and motivational mechanisms for healthcare professionals for following PCC routines and make them slip back into ‘usual care’ or lose interest, knowledge or commitment. As the psychological state of medical staff can determine the duration and success of the treatment and care, therefore they should be properly motivated. In this chapter we show comparative research study in Ukraine and Poland. The methodology of this study selected a list of motivators for medical staff in both countries. The results of this study brought the main findings that may be useful for reforming inefficient healthcare systems.

In the framework of the circular economy, pedagogy, which is based on the educability of individuals, takes into consideration forms of educational planning to identify a long-lasting balance between economic prosperity, social wellness, and environmental development. The challenge of the future is the possibility of increasing youth employment; this calls for pedagogical expertise and organizational planning to ensure that everyone’s development is authentic and holistic. To this end, the MSc Degree programme in Educational Planning and Human Resource Development offered by the Catholic University trains graduates to become professional figures with expertise in coordinating and managing the development of human resources (guidance, selection, personal services); the professional training and retraining of project managers in social and educational contexts for both academic and corporate spheres. The guiding vision behind the MSc in Educational Planning and Human Resource Development is fully in line with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart’s educational project, to support a culture of responsibility and creativity, entrepreneurism and collaboration, multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills, and scientific research for the purpose of holistic human development. Educational planning, in a period of socio-economic and social change, involving the whole planet in many respects, can relaunch an ‘integral model of development’, based on long-term wellbeing, technological innovation, ‘human development’, and the dignity of work

Rotmann, Sea, and Beth Karlin. "Training commercial energy users in behavior change: A case study." In ACEEE Summer Study for Energy Efficiency in Buildings. ACEEE, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.47568/3cp104.

Full text
Abstract:
Within the commercial sector, energy managers and building operators have a large impact over their organizations’ energy use. However, they mostly focus on technology solutions and retrofits, rather than human or corporate behaviors, and how to change them. This gap in targeted commercial sector research and behavioral interventions provides a great opportunity which is currently not being addressed. This paper presents a field research pilot where an empirical behavior change research process was applied and taught to commercial energy users in Ontario, Canada. This course served to fill an identified market gap and to improve commercial energy managers’ literacy in behavioral science theory and techniques. A needs assessment identified a clear gap in behavioral training for energy managers, and high interest in the course further proved out the market opportunity for professional training on how to design, implement and evaluate behavior change interventions. Evaluation results identified positive feedback in terms of course reaction, self-reported learning and behavioral outcomes, and tangible results when course participants returned to work to apply their learnings. Evaluation results suggest that such training fills a vital gap in the current Strategic Energy Management (SEM) landscape, and could unlock significant savings in the commercial energy sector.

Abstract:
The educational changes in the Romanian pre-university education system over the last ten years have required the creation of internal mechanisms, articulated through an internal managerial control system in order to improve and maintain performance in all the basic compartments of the school organization. The success and the performance of a educational organization is based on many factors that take into account the scholars progress, the professional training of professors, the curriculum, but also the manager’s style and strategies that he applies at an institutional level. Despite controversy and doubt, internal management control is seen as an indispensable tool in performance management of modern organizations. The reason for this consists in management control treating the present problem for all the typologies: that there is certainty in the fact that managers, alongside with professors achieve performances in the behalf of the organization. In order for the relationship between the manager of the institution and his personnel to remain favorable, it is normal that the management to measure and control the performance of his employees. The present paper aims to create an internal radiograph within a preschool education institution in order to hierarchize performance indicators and / or identify influential factors to be achieved in order to obtain a performing school environment (for children, teachers and the entity manager). The paper/research begins with a presentation of the theoretical concepts, followed by an empirical research that is based on qualitative methods, and uses as an instrument the interview (applied to teachers, heads of departments, managers). The paper ends with a series of proposals, conclusions that can be implemented in various educational organizations.

Abstract:
When carrying out professional activities, officers of the VNG of the Russian Federation are often in difficult, stressful, emotionally stressful situations associated with the use of weapons as a particularly dangerous means of destruction. The right to use a weapon by an officer makes him responsible for its use. And therefore requires the officer to make a balanced optimal decision, which is associated with the risk and transience of events, and in which no mistake can be made, since the price of it can be someone's life. It is at such a moment that it is important that the officer has stable skills in making a decision on the use of weapons, and this requires skills not only in managing subordinates or the situation, but in managing himself. The complication of the military-professional activity, manifested in the need to develop the ability to quickly and accurately make command decisions, exacerbating the problem of social responsibility of an officer who has the management of unit that leads to an understanding of his singular personal and professional responsibility, as the ability to govern themselves makes it possible to achieve a positive result of the Department for the DBA. This characterizes the need for a commander to have the ability to manage himself, as a "system" that manages others. Forming skills of self-control, patience, compassion, having mastered algorithms of making managerial decisions, the cycle of implementing managerial functions, etc., a person comes to the belief: "before effectively managing others, it is necessary to learn how to manage yourself." The required level of personal and professional maturity can be formed in a person as a result of purposeful self-management, which determines the special role of professional and personal self-management in the training of future officers.

Abstract:
Across the Blue Economy, science must play a fundamental role in moving us away from business as usual to a more sustainable pathway. It provides evidence to inform policy by understanding baselines, trends and tipping points, as well as the multiple and interacting effects of human activities and policy interventions. Measuring progress depends on strong evidence and requires the design of a monitoring framework based on well-defined objectives and indicators, informed by the diverse disciplines required to inform progress on cross-cutting policy objectives such as the Just Transition. The differences between the scientific and policy processes are stark and affect interaction between them, including, among other factors, the time pressures of governmental decision-making, and the lack of support and reward in academia for policy engagement. To enable improved integration, the diverse nature of the science / policy interface is important to recognise – improved communication between scientists and policy professionals within government is important, as well as interaction with the wider academic community through secondments and other mechanisms. Skills in working across boundaries are valuable, requiring training and professional recognition. We also discussed the science needs across the themes of the Just Transition, Sustainable Seafood, Nature-based Solutions and the Circular Economy, where we considered: • What research and knowledge can help us manage synergies and trade-offs? • Where is innovation needed to promote synergies? • What type of indicators, data and evidence are needed to measure progress? The insights developed through dialogue among participants on these themes are outlined in Section 4 of this report.

Abstract:
Analysis of the standards for the preparation of electromechanics in Ukraine showed that the electromechanic engineer is able to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems in a certain area of professional activity or in the process of study. These problems are characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions. The main competencies include social-personal, general-scientific, instrumental, general-professional and specialized-professional. A review of scientific publications devoted to the training of electromechanics has shown that four branches of engineering are involved in the training of electromechanical engineers: mechanical and electrical engineering (with a common core of electromechanics), electronic engineering and automation. The common use of the theory, methods and means of these industries leads to the emergence of a combined field of engineering – mechatronics. Summarizing the experience of electrical engineers professional training in Ukraine and abroad makes it possible to determine the main directions of their professional training modernization.
