Abstract:
The integrated direct digital apprenticeship represents a new and crucial experimental apprenticeship modality with the primary function of guaranteeing everyone the possibility of living this entire pre- professional experience through virtual modalities and widening and enriching training opportunities for future pre-primary teachers and primary teachers. The experimental project arose from the need to respond to the need to guarantee the practicability of professional training courses at a time when, due to the pandemic, it was not possible to accommodate all students in schools. It was designed with the Regional School Office of Tuscany and resulted from the degree course constant commitment to the USR Tuscany to guarantee students; right to study and enhance the schools; willingness to accommodate trainees.

Abstract:
Three Tuscan doctors, and three intriguing professional histories. The inventory of the papers of Pietro Betti, Carlo Burci and Vincenzio Chiarugi has made available an important archive heritage, which goes to supplement the partial knowledge deriving from the biographies and works of these figures who represented the bridge between the enlightened and revolutionary eighteenth century and the following century, taut between the claims of science and political and social influences. A great season for Medicine and Surgery is revisited through the voices of three important exponents of this period of knowledge and action, of a commitment – that is also contemporary – to care, to teaching and to research.

Abstract:
This book is a collection of essays in honour of Giovannella Cresci Marrone, Professor of Roman History at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, on the occasion of her retirement on 1 October 2021. The volume explores Giovannella’s interests through the eyes of a group of colleagues, who, over the years and since the very beginning of her academic career, have shared with her significant experiences in a professional and personal capacity. The essays cover the main domains of Giovannella’s scientific research: epigraphy and regional history, ancient writing cultures, historiography and political history, from the Greek classical period to the uses of the past in the twentieth century. Specific attention is given to the multiple patterns through which different areas of Italy were incorporated into the Roman world and to the scrutiny of several key figures of ancient history, such as Themistocles, Alexander the Great, Caesar, and Augustus, as well as their receptions. They also consider Giovannella’s innovative teaching methodologies and her commitment to the institutions at which she worked. The book is conceived as a tribute to the crucial role that Giovannella has played for her many pupils, for her countless students, and for all those who have had the privilege of benefiting in different ways from her mentorship.

Abstract:
The chapter explores how a profession is different from an occupation and how an area of human endeavor evolves from an occupation to a profession. More particularly, it asks why the effort to make management a profession was unsuccessful and how medicine and law made the successful transition from simple practices to complex professions. The professionalization of medicine and law is tracked in some detail, generating conclusions about how professional status is achieved. These include generally accepted body of knowledge; extended education; extended training; clear criteria for evaluation; clear criteria for certification; clear demarcation between those within the profession and those without; explicit commitment to the public interest; explicit commitment to a code of ethics; and a professional association with the power and authority to monitor the status of the profession and the conduct of its members. Leadership, it is noted, fails to meet every one of these criteria.
