This research was conducted at the public junior high school students of non-music classes in Yilan County. The effective samples come to 462.Via the “Mandarin pop music preferences of junior high school students in Yilan County” questionnaire by the researcher as the research tools. Using frequency distribution, percentage, average, standard deviation, and independent sample t-test to analyze . Investigating and find out that where is the source to junior high school students receive the information of the mandarin pop music, type of music, type and characteristics of singers. And also examine the difference of pop music preferences that caused by gender, the experience of learning a musical instruments, and the participation of music clubs. The results are as follows: Ⅰ. The important way for junior high school students in Yilan to receive the information of mandarin pop music is music class in school. Ⅱ. Girls prefer lyric and hip-hop music types, and boys prefer ballad music type. Ⅲ. Girls prefer creative singers, and boys prefer bands and skilled singers. Ⅳ. Regardless of gender, with or without learning extracurricular talent, whether student participation in music societies are taken very seriously singer's talent performance. Ⅴ. Having crush on singers is the important reason for students’ music preferences. Ⅵ. In the parts of learning talents, participating in the music clubs, and the habit of listening. The people with experience are easier to be affected then the people without experience. Ⅶ. Through lyrical rock genre of the song as a teaching guide or into the design of the bridge, but also enhance the students' willingness to learn music and initiative. According to the conclusions, provide junior high school teachers and future researchers Choose to take melodic or inspirational music as teaching materials to enhance students 'interest in learning, attitudes, giving adolescent children who get spiritual relief, and then through the subtle beauty of music can enhance the students' ability and judgment.
