Full textWe investigate in this thesis a tight collaboration between techniques of Abstract Interpretation and Constraint Programming within a unified method of resolution of constraint satisfaction problems. This work addresses the problem of the design in a generic and modular way of a constraint solver based on abstract domains, which capture specific properties of program or constrained variables. We exploit the assets of both fields to bypass the restriction of standard constraint solvers, such as the dedication to a certain type of constraints or variables. Our effort also consists in the design of a robust method, providing soundness properties even in thecontext of floating-point errors. Moreover, we are interested in different techniques allowing the construction of a partition of a solution space that can be easily reused, both from a quantitative and a qualitative point of view. Our work has been concretized in the form of an implementation within the AbSolute constraint solver and applied on several examples. Our experiments show that our methods improve the solver’s efficiency or the quality of the results according to the metrics we have defined

Full textIn animal nutrition, 56% of product developments fail (source: author). An empiric field study is conducted in Europe in collaboration with fifty-one persons working for twenty-eight companies involved in animal nutrition. Information regarding the development process of one hundred and twenty-five new technical products, among them fifty big commercial failures, forty-seven great successes and twenty-eight medium successes, are collected to create a data-base. Thank’s to a “Principal Component analysis”, thirteen explicative factors are detected as responsible of the commercial result. These ones are related to skills and the knowledge status of the company and the employees, to marketing-mix and to the attention paid by the management team to the new product development. An econometric model is developed from the five following indicators recorded in the form of a score from zero to ten: innovation degree and adaptation capacity to the local market, involvement of the management team in the project of product development, knowledge of the competitors, attention to grant to the financial benefit that the client could get in case this one purchases the new product. The model allows to predict the commercial performance in the form of a probability of commercial success. The use of this econometric model together with the control of the thirteen main explanatory factors of the commercial result constitute a tool for decision-making of new product launch devoted to animal nutrition
Masson, Josselin. "Effets de la modification d’un attribut constitutif d’un produit alimentaire sur son adoption par les consommateurs : le cas du vin à teneur réduite en alcool." Thesis, Montpellier, SupAgro, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010NSAM0017/document.
Full textIn the marketing literature which focuses on innovation adoption by consumers, the adoption process is explained mostly by consumer innovativeness. However, some research works show that the new product's perceived cues can better explain its adoption than individual characteristics. Our work lies in the latter perspective and contributes to explain cognitive and sensory mechanisms of adoption, making a careful distinction between extrinsic and intrinsic effects of new product cues. Moreover, most research works use unique and immediate measurements while it appears necessary to make repeated measurements. Therefore, we implement longitudinal methodologies in this research. Three experimentations show lower quality expectations with the modified non-sensory cue (reduced alcohol content) than with the usual non-sensory cue (normal alcohol content). However, perception of this non-sensory information on modification is not sufficiently negative to reduce the overall perceived quality of the new product which remains close to that of the regular product. Therefore, both judging by its taste and conceptually, a new food product (i.e. low-alcohol wine) seems acceptable, at least as long as it does not move away too far from limits of the products category to which it belongs

Full textBitumen and its use in road engineering have been studied to substitute flux oil by biomass byproducts. Adding vegetable oil emulsion stabilized by natrium oleat to hot bitumen enables bituminous binder foam expansion. By optimizing surfactant rate, water to oil ratio and water quantity, we formulated an emulsion allowing formation of bituminous foam and expansion ratio increase. This binder in foaming form, was used at a lower than 120°C temperature to prepare bituminous coatings or to reuse old bituminous coatings. The vegetable oil, part of the binder, should reactivate old bitumen. Some experiments carried out on old bituminous coatings have shown the potential of this new binder. An advanced analytical study with high resolution mass spectrometry have been carried out

Full textIn recent years, the use of less-lethal weapons has increased. These weapons, designed to neutralise individuals exhibiting dangerous behaviour, can cause injuries or even death. Similar injury mechanisms are observed in the rear deformation of bulletproof vests during impacts. To protect citizens and law enforcement personnel, it is necessary to prevent such scenarios. However, today there are few tools available to assist in the sizing of such equipment. In this context, this thesis aims to develop tools for predicting thoracic injury risk during non-penetrating ballistic impacts. Accordingly, a physical substitute of the human thorax and its numerical twin are developed. Initially, the HUByx numerical model is used as a reference to construct a simplified numerical model that can be manufactured using readily available materials. Different materials are characterised, and their material laws are established. Once validated, this numerical model serves as a basis for constructing the physical substitute called SurHUByx. It is equipped with various sensors to record data over the rib and in internal organs during ballistic impacts. Specific impact cases described in case reports are replicated on SurHUByx to correlate sensor data with injury assessments. Finally, a statistical approach is used to develop injury prediction curves, allowing to estimate of the risk of injury following an impact on SurHUByx or its numerical twin, SurHUByx FEM
