Abstract:
The accuracy measurement of fine-pitch gears within module 0.02-0.2mm in batch production is one of the puzzle problems in industry because of its small amout of dimension and rigidity. Based on the gear integrated error measurement technology developed by CTRI in China and Frenco in Germany, a kind of differential roll-scanning measuring technology and a differential fine-pitch gear integrated error measuring machine first developed by the authors are introduced briefly in the paper, including the working principle and calculation formulas of ‘two synchronized rotate-driving systems, one differential-compensation closed-loop measurement’ , the stucture of ‘spindle on spindle’ and ‘differential composite driving spindle system’ of the master gear, and the unique master gear with ‘every other tooth thinned’ followed the principle of overlap coefficient not bigger than 1 for a few certain gear pairs, and also the special made hob for making the thinned master gear. The measuring results of four items of deviations, including pitch, profile, tangential composite and integrated deviations of product fine-pitch gears show the feasibility and prospect of the new developed measuring technology and machine in future industry application.

Abstract:
The preparation of Fe2O3-montmorillonite and it's application as a catalyst for congo red dye photodegradation has been carried out. Fe2O3-montmorillonite was prepared by mixing the iron complexes pillaring agent and montmorillonite. The product was calcined at 250 oC for 5 hours. Montmorillonite and calcined product was analyzed by X-ray diffractometry (X-RD), infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), gas sorption analyser, X-ray fluorescense (X-RF) and UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spektrophotometry (UV-DRS). Fe2O3-montmorilonite then was used as a catalyst on congo red dye photodegrdation by UV-illuminating a mixture of 50 mg Fe2O3-montmorillonite and 25 mL congo red 10-4M at 365 nm at various illuminating times. Adsorption of congo red on Fe2O3-montmorillonite and montmorillonite was also performed as a comparison. Result of X-RD analysis showed that the 001 reflection of Fe2O3-montmorillonite was not detected that probably indicating the formation of house of card stucture and this result was supported also by the analysis result of distribution of pores and SEM photography result. Results of the XRF analysis showed that iron content increased from 5.21 % (w/w) in montmorillonite to 25.12 % (w/w) in Fe2O3-montmorillonite. UV- DRS analysis showed the increament of band gap energy from 3.69 eV in the iron oxide bulk to 3.8 eV in Fe2O3-montmorillonite. Specific surface area of the montmorillonite also increased significantly from 69,71 m2/g to 126,49 m2/g and total pores volume increased from 50.70x10-3 mL/Å/g to 107.89x10-3 mL/Å/g, respectively. Photodegradation of congo red using Fe2O3-montmorillonite caused the decreament of congo red concentration up to 90.22 % on UV illumination for 60 minutes. Adsorption of congo red on Fe2O3-montmorillonite reached 84.4% and on montmorillonite was 75.15 %. Keywords: photodegradation, congo red, Fe2O3-montmorillonite, UV light

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the effect of using natural masks to moisturize dry skin. This natural mask was made of ingredients that are safe to use and based on special formulations which include; bengkoang powder (2 grams), chocolate powder (1 gram), black cumin oil (0.6 ml), and honey (5 ml). This formulation was made so that the resultied mask formed paste stucture that can be directly applied. Masks were given to ten probandal women who have dry skin types and are 30-40 years old. Masks were used twice / week for six weeks (12 times usage). The instrument used to measure the moisture level of facial skin was a skin analyzer (HL-611) by directly attaching it to the face area and the results can be seen after 4-5 seconds. The data were analysed using ANOVA test 95% confidence interval and significance test using SPSS 15 for windows. The results showed that skin moisture values increased around 3.9% within 6 weeks of use, with a 0.8% increase at week 2, at week 4 there was an increase of 1.65% and at week 6 there was an increase in skin moisture by 1.4%. The moisture value of the skin on the face area (forehead, nose, chin, cheeks) showed no significant difference with almost the same value of humidity. It is recommended for dry skin types to use a face mask that contains oil as a skin lubricant and to protect water evaporation from the skin. It is necessary to do further testing on this natural mask so that safety on the skin can be guaranteed. It needs to be done so that the final product obtained meets the face mask safety quality standards set by the government. Keywords: Bengkuang; cocoa; black cumin; honey; natural mask.

Abstract:
A comprehension about magnetic refrigeration which develops strong materials as the refrigerant will be explained and develop in this project. Magnetic refrigeration comes from magnetocaloric effect (MCE) which is magnetic material known as refrigerant that react with a magnetic and demagnetic field. Refrigerant plays the roll in control the performance of magnetic refrigerator. One of interesting refrigerant is MnCoGe compound which found very favourable in produce high value of MCE. From this point of view, the process of producing of MnCoGe using ball milling treatment and heat treatment had been studied. Variable of temperature in heat treatment process and following by cooling down to room temperature have been implemented in order to produce good structure of MnCoGe compound. Furthermore, from structure properties measurement found this compound produce three type of structures which are hexagonal, orthorhombic and mix structure (hexagonal and orthorhombic). Based on the different temperature of heat treatment, it indicate for 1500o C and 1200o C treatment are dominant to the hexagonal structure type, then for 1000o C dominant to the orthorhombic structure and lastly for 1100o C dominant to mix structure. Electric properties measurement found the frequency play the role in change the structure as well as in 1000o C compound was found below 5M Hz frequency show the hexagonal structure and when increasing above 5M Hz the pattern change to orthorhombic structure respectively. Moreover, for the permittivity measurement it gives the information about conductivity and tan delta value. Systematically at 1000o C compound found this material is more to conductor behavior compare others compound. Therefore, when the temperature is increased to 1100o C, 1200o C and 1500o C then the conductivity value decreasing and its resistivity value become increasing.

Abstract:
We can encounter products made from UHMWPE in many different areas of utilization. This material is used in plastic bearings, ball-and-socket joints, heavy-duty plastic cog-wheels and joint implants. The UHMWPE is a very particular polymer, the special characteristics of which can be attributed to its molecular structure. The ulra-high molecular weight has an effect on wear-resistance, creep-resistance and hardness. These are the parameters demanded by the highly specialized utilization. On the other hand, this molecular stucture also has disadvantages next to the many advantages. Its greatest disadvantage is that it’s difficult to process. The UHMWPE is a thermoplastic, but because of the long molecular chains its injection molding is impossible. In the course of the present research work we will compare the mechanical and quality properties of products made with lathe machining (RAM extrusion) and direct compression molding. We will examine the impact of the changes of the manufacturing and technological parameters. We will be placing a special emphasis on the surface quality because the quality and life-span of the abovementioned products (bearings, ball-and-socket joints, artficial joints) largely depends on this parameter. Besides this we will examine the changes of hardness and the stability of size. In view of these results we will try to determine what would be the best manufacturing technology that could ensure the maximum performance and life-span of these products. [1,3,6] We are focusing by having the results, to optimizing the manufacturing.

Sailors, indeed anyone interested in the development of sailing craft, will be for ever indebted to Joseph Needham. Today they will find with ease literature that describes the origins, characteristics, and development of sailing craft in the various regions of the world; the inter-relationships between natural products, and native hull stuctures and forms, sails' fabrics, shapes, and performance. They can learn, too, that the closestowing anchor, the water-tight bulkhead, the balanced rudder (and other features of the modern efficiency-conscious ship constructor) have all been adapted from the millenniaold, so-long-despised by Westerners, Chinese junk, just as has, late in this twentieth century, the stiffened sail of the modern high-performance yacht.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine the process of activities and measurment- evaluation in the sixth grade math lesson. In the study that was conducted with case study that is one of the qualitative study patterns. A primary math teacher's lessons were observed, and subsequent to the observations, semi-structured interviews with the teacher and the students were performed. The data obtained from the classroom observations demonstrated that the teacher used different variables so as to increase the quality of teaching service and present the new knowledge to the students, enabled the students to understand and use this knowledge and the teacher exhibited some negative behaviours and produced some negative utterances that influenced the quality of the teaching service. The data pertinent to the students suggested that the students demonstrated learning and thinking products, fulfilled learning needs and made some explanations regarding their performance. However, during the application process it was observed that the teacher was more involved and engaged in the class than the students were and that the acquistion of basic skills specific to the subject accomodated certain limitations. Another dimension during the application and evaluation process of the teacher showed that some difficulties were experienced on account of the stucture and design of the content and physical features of the setting. It was also found that the students had difficulty solving and constructing the problem and learning algebra and that they experienced some difficulties owing to the lack of time while evaluating the process of their learning and that the excessive number of the questions in the evaluation forms caused the students to undergo hard times. The results of the study indicate that an in-service training should be held in order to raise awareness of the teachers so that the students can be more involved in the process of learning. The other difficulties and limitations show that some reformations and reorganizations related to the structure of curriculum and the teaching setting should be performed.

Full text
Abstract:
Birds were studied at 57 sites in Mountain Ash forests in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia in spring and summer 1995/96. The sites represented 41 patches of old-growth forest (up to 390 ha in size) in a matrix of regrowth mostly from severe fires in 1939 (57 years previously), with multiple sites in the four largest patches of old-growth and eight sites in 1939 regrowth. Relative bird abundance was assessed by an area-search technique. Generalized linear modelling was used to develop predictive models by regressing abundance of groups of bird species against patch size, isolation and some basic habitat and context variables. Total bird abundance (of all species combined) tended to be higher in old-growth patches than in 1939 regrowth, but not significantly. There was no trend in total abundance with patch size or isolation. Fruit-eating birds tended to be commonest in small patches. Bark-foragers and uncommon birds favoured large patches, though the latter were most common in 1939 regrowth. More variation was explained by habitat and context variables such as aspect, altitude and forest structure. Unevenaged forest structure was often associated with small patches. It was concluded that old-growth forest patches can have similar values per hectare for forest birds whether they are large or small. The regrowth forest matrix appears to protect small patches from factors which reduce densities of forest birds in small forest patches in farmland. The data support the current policy of retaining all old-growth ash forest patches. A range of factors should be considered in selecting regrowth stands of various sizes to regrow as old forest of the future, including their intrinsic potential to develop particular habitats and produce a mix of forest stuctures in the landscape.

"The cretaceous-tertiary boundary Fiskeler at Stevns Klint, Denmark: The geochemistry of the major trace metals." Journal of the Serbian Chemical Society 66, no. 10 (2001): 647–70. http://dx.doi.org/10.2298/jsc0110647p.

Abstract:
Trace metals in the four discrete layers of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary (Fiskeler) at Stevns Klint (Denmark) are relatively well studied, yet much remains to be learned about them. Therefore, an integrated study of the trace (meteoritic Ir, partly meteoritic Cr/Ni/Co/Au and terrestrial Zn/Cu/La/Ce/Nd/Sm/Eu/Tb/Yb/Ta/Th) metals in the basal black marl of Fiskeler and in its (carbonate, HCl-soluble, smectite, HCl-insoluble, silicate and kerogen) fractions was undertaken. The mineralogy of the marl is comparatively simple, authigenic calcite (mainly derived from planktonic marine algae: coccoliths), detrital Mg-smectite and quartz being the principal components, with lesser amounts of kerogen, Fe3+-oxides, pyrite, ilite and feldspar. Selective leaching procedures were used to establish geochemical associations and specific mineralogical locations of the trace metals. The results identified the main locations of the major trace metals (Cr/Ni/Co/Zn/Cu/Ir/Au). They occur mainly in the smectite and, to a lesser extent, in the biogenic calcite (Ni/Co/Zn) and kerogen (Ir/Au). The trace metal data are in accordance with the hypothesis that substantial proportions of Cr/Ni/Co/Zn/Cu/Ir/Au were probably contained in the detrital smectite arriving at the site of the deposition. In a general discussion of the results, a geochemical model describing the incorporation of trace metals in the smectite is presented, based on the weathering/trasport of the clay by (impact-induced) acid surface waters and the adsorption of trace metal ions by the smectite particles/colloids in the acidic solution of nearby oxic soil. The distribution/enrichment patterns of Cr/Ni/Co/Zn of the basal black marl and higher Fiskeler layers indicate, on the other hand, that notable proportions of these metals were incorporated into the smectite structure during the formation of the clay. The trace metal data are also considered in light of previously published paleoecological and geochemical information for Fiskeler. It is proposed, for example, that the local (impact-induced) superacid rainfall and wildfires played an important role in providing appropriate humics (i.e. appropriate organics of decaying land green plants) having porphyrin stuctures for the formation of kerogen (enriched with Cu2+-porphyrins). In addition, it has been suggested that the biogenic calcite with high Ni is probably a product of the metabolic uptake of boundary seawater (enriched with this metal) by the coccoliths. The metal enrichment of the seawater was created by a sudden and high influx of (apparently mainly meteoritic) Ni: airborne and laterally redeposited (by the acid surface/river waters) from a nearby soil. Lastly, the lateral distribution of kerogen (enriched withCu2+-porpyhyrins) supports an earlier interpretation presented by Hultenberg1,2 that the alleged (Nye Kl?v/Dania) boundaries in northwestern Denmark represent erosion and subsequent redeposition of Fiskeler in eastern Denmark.

Abstract:
In the assessment of writing ability it is difficult and costly to rate the students' texts reliably. Using more structured writing tasks and rating procedures could help avoiding some of the assessment problems. However, structured tasks and rating procedures threaten the validity of the writing assessment. This balance between (rating) reliability on the one hand and validity on the other hand is the main focus of this paper. In the present study five different types of writing task were evaluated. The writing tasks represented different degrees of structuring. Two tasks could be regarded as direct measurements, two as semi-direct measurements and one as an indirect measurement. A way to improve rating reliability is to structure the rating procedure as opposed to structuring the writing task. Two scoring methods were compared with respect to the ratings they produced for two tasks: the specified and the stuctured task. The methods consisted of (1) essay scales with example essays as 'range finders', and (2) scoring according to strict scoring guides (counts). The structuring of both the writing task and the rating procedure were expected to simplify the assessment of writing ability and to improve the reliability of the measurements. The effects of writing task and rating procedure on reliability of individual raters (five raters with the direct measurements, three with the semi-direct measurements) were analysed with ANOVA's. The results did not completely support the theoretical assumptions. However, as expected, the semi-direct tasks were rated far more reliably than the direct tasks. The (small) differences between the two direct respectively two semi-direct tasks showed a positive 'structuring effect', i.e. gain in rating reliability. Furthermore, the rating 'with scoring guides' was shown to be more reliable than the rating with essay scales. This difference was related to the aspect of the texts being rated: rating reliability appeared to vary between the rating procedures when content and organization were being rated, whereas no such difference was found in rating language usage. Possible instrument bias was studied as a way of evaluating the validity of the writing assignments. No bias with respect to sex could be demonstrated, but there was a bias with respect to writing ability. Proficient writers seemed to be unable to produce a distinctive performance in semi-direct and indirect tasks, whereas less proficient writers seemed especially to benefit from the 'simplicity' of these more restrictive tasks. These findings appeared most strongly in relation to the content and organization scores. In line with other evaluations of the validity of writing assignments (cf. Schoonen, 1991), one must conclude that the gain in reliability as a result of the structuring of the writing assignment also means a loss in validity, especially with respect to content and organizational aspects of texts. The rating of the essays is best done using essay scales rather than strict scoring guides (counts), especially when it concerns language use.

Abstract:
A <em>type hierarchy</em> for an imperative language defines an ordering on the types such that any application for small types may be reused for all larger types. The imperative facet makes this non-trivial; the straight-forward definitions will yield an inconsistent system. We introduce a new type constructor, the <em>partial product</em>, and show how to define a <em>consistent</em> hierarchy in the context of <em>fully recursive</em> types. A simple <em>polymorphism</em> is derived. By extending the types to include <em>stuctural invariants</em> we obtain a particularly appropriate notation for defining recursive types, that is superior to traditional type sums and products. We show how the ordering on types <em>extends</em> to an ordering on types with invariants. We allow the use of <em>least upper bounds</em> in type definitions and show how to resolve type equations involving these, and how to compute upper bounds of invariants.

Abstract:
AbstractHigh Resolution TEM (HRTEM) observations of a dislocation in γ-TiAl are compared directly with atomistic calculations of dislocation structures performed with atomistic potentials in order to obtain an estimate of the Complex Stacking Fault Energy (γcsf). A value of between 470 and 620 mJ/M2 was obtained. HRTEM observations are presented of a Ti-52AI sample, containing a dislocation with Burgers vector 1/2<110> and 60° line orientation. This image is matched against images simulated from the outputs of Embedded Atom Method (EAM) simulations, using potentials that were fit to bulk γ-TiAl properties. Two atomistic simulation methods were employed in order to give the range of values for γcsf. In the first of these methods, three EAM potentials were used to simulate the stress-free core structure. These were fit so as to produce three different values of γcsf, all other properties being roughly the same as the literature values for γ-TiAI. All of these potentials produced cores that were more extended than the experimental observation. Thus a value of 470 mJ/M2, being the highest value of γcsf obtainable for the EAM potentials, is reported as a low limit estimate of γcsf for γ-TiAl. An upper limit estimate of the value of γcsf was obtained by applying an external ‘Escaig’ stress that forced the Shockley partials to further constrict, simulating the effect of an increase in γcsf, The preliminary value calculated from this procedure was 620 mJ/M2.

"Effect of Welding Current and Electrodes on Reinforcement Height in Shielded Metal Arc Welding Process." Regular 9, no. 2 (July 30, 2020): 317–20. http://dx.doi.org/10.35940/ijrte.b3482.079220.

Abstract:
Joining of materials is the need of modern industries and stuctures. Shielded metal arc welding process is one of the most popular and commonly used method of joining materials. The weld reinforcement height should be optimum for mechanical properties of the weld. If the reinforcement height is less or negative, it is not recommended considering strength of weld as surface area will be reduced and if the reinforcement height is more, it will produce stress concentration which is not recommended. In the present work the investigation of the effect of three different types of electrodes at three different welding currents in shielded metal arc welding process utilizing Low Carbon Steel plate of API 5L Grade X 52, was done for reinforcement height. The three different electrodes as E 6013, E 7016 and E 7018 and the varying currents as 90 A, 100 A and 110 A. Total 18 pieces were used to obtain 9 welds which were used to analyze the effect of current and the electrode on reinforcement height. The dimensions of the work pieces were taken as 75 mm x 50 mm x 5 mm. The values of reinforcement height in each weld were written in a table and respective diagrams were drawn to make clear the effect of welding current on reinforcement height for the three different electrodes.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTAlthough ladder polymers have been known for some time, poor solubility and low molecular weights have prevented processing and have discouraged consideration of these materials for structural and electronic applications. Poor solubility can be associated with strong Van der Waals interactions between delocalized π-electron clouds on adjacent chains. The optimum orbital overlap along the polymer backbone existent for ladder polymers has motivated reexamination of these systems for electronic applications. We have pursued alternatives to the tradiational acid-catalyzed polycondensation of underivatized monomers at elevated temperatures by reacting derivatized (e.g., with alkyl or vinylamine substituents) monomers at reduced temperature in organic solvents (e.g., DMF) to produce open-chain precursors to ladder polymers. These are converted to fully-fused ladder polymers by thermal processing either in solution or as solid state (e.g., thin film) materials. The preparation of precursors of improved solubility greatly enhances processing options and has permitted the utilization of both Langmuir-Blodgett methods and the perparation of optical quality films by casting (including spin casting). By control of thermal processing conditions, both derivatized and underivatized ladder polymers have been prepared. Our approach offers obvious advantages for the investigation of the effect of conformation and of substituents upon electronic properties. The preparation of copolymers with rigid rod and flexible chain segments incorporated in the polymer backbone has also been investigated. For such materials, polymers with fully fused ladder segments can exhibit improved solubility in DMF relative to polymers with open chain segments due to the absence of favorable hydrogen bonding stuctures in the former. Finally, we are investigating the effect of electrochemical polymerization of Langmuir-Blodgett films prepared with derivatized diaminobenzene. Such an approach clearly takes advantage of improved solubility of the derivatized monomer and improved molecular order which can be realized with the Langmuir-Blodgett method. Free radical polymerization may facilitate the realization of improved molecular weight distributions.
