Abstract:
Effects of heat treatments on the on-line service life of a press die manufactured by W-EDM are studied. In this work, four manufacturing processes for a press die are considered: (1) milling and then grinding, (2) wire-cut electric discharge machining (W-EDM), (3) low temperature heat treatment after W-EDM, and (4) high temperature heat treatment after W-EDM. On-line punching experiments for an automobile part of BL646-chain are performed. The amount of wear of the die and punch, roll-over and burnish depth in the punched chain are measured every 1,000 strokes. Overall productivities are carefully compared. Finally, it is concluded that heat treatment after W-EDM for a press die can enhance its on-line service life. Especially, high temperature heat treatment after W-EDM is very attractive as a fast and cheap manufacturing method for a press die.

Abstract:
In this study, an energetic, economic and environmental feasibility for the anaerobic digestion (AD) of press mud previously pretreated with liquid hot water (LHW) or thermo-alkaline (TA) methods were assessed. A typical Cuban sugar mill was selected as ¨Case Study¨. The sugar mill has a potential capacity to process 4600 t d-1of sugar cane and operates 130 days per year. The biogas produced can be used to feed an internal combustion engine to produce electricity and heat. It was assumed that the electricity will be sold to the national electric grid and the heat recovered from the exhaust gases will be used as energy source to supply the thermal demand for press mud pre-treatments. The thermal requirements for pre-treatments (9.4 and 12.1 MWh d-1) were energy sufficient by recovering the heat from the engine exhaust. For the alternatives considered, an improvement of the environmental profile with respect to the reference scenario was obtained. The profitability of methane production also increased for alternatives considering pre-treatment. In general, the economical, energetic and environmental assessment showed the best indicators for the AD of press mud using LHW pre-treatment.

Abstract:
The study examined caffeine (5 mg/kg body weight) vs. placebo during anaerobic exercise. Eighteen male athletes (24.1 ± 5.8 yr; BMI 26.4 ± 2.2 kg/m2) completed a leg press, chest press, and Wingate test. During the caffeine trial, more total weight was lifted with the chest press, and a greater peak power was obtained during the Wingate test. No differences were observed between treatments for the leg press and average power, minimum power, and power drop (Wingate test). There was a significant treatment main effect found for postexercise glucose and insulin concentrations; higher concentrations were found in the caffeine trial. A significant interaction effect (treatment and time) was found for cortisol and glucose concentrations; both increased with caffeine and decreased with placebo. Postexercise systolic blood pressure was significantly higher during the caffeine trial. No differences were found between treatments for serum free-fatty-acid concentrations, plasma lactate concentrations, serum cortisol concentrations, heart rate, and rating of perceived exertion. Thus, a moderate dose of caffeine resulted in more total weight lifted for the chest press and a greater peak power attained during the Wingate test in competitive athletes.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes a semi-continuous laboratory-scale investigation of a potential co-substrate for mesophilic anaerobic sludge digestion in a municipal wastewater treatment plant. A feed liquid produced from source-sorted municipal organic waste by pretreatment with a screw press was subjected to the investigation. Quantities produced in press trials as well as the composition of the feed liquid are presented. Mass balances for N, P and chemical oxygen demand are given in order to verify the methane production of the feed liquid in co-digestion with sewage sludge at mesophilic conditions. Hydraulic retention time of the reactors were 14.7 to 16 d and organic loading rates were 1.5 to 2.7 kg volatile solids (VS) per cubic metre per day. The pretreatment by screw press is compared to the production of feed liquids with pulper-based pretreatment processes. While the addition of the feed liquid increased methane production by about 345 ml CH4/g VSin, total solids of the feed liquid were reduced to about 63%. With respect to co-digestion at municipal wastewater treatment plants, several risks associated with the investigated feed liquid are outlined.

Abstract:
The manufacture of plant-based drinks has the drawback of a huge production of underexploited press cakes. In particular, the oat press cake is mainly used in feed formulation, whereas added-value applications in human nutrition are scarce. Considering that enzymatic treatments may be useful to improve the nutritional quality of these insoluble byproducts, this study aimed to evaluate whether the treatment with some food-grade enzymes, such as amylase, cellulase/xylanase, protease, and their combination, may be useful to achieve this goal. Proteomic and peptidomic studies showed that the enzymatic treatments improved the protein extraction yields and induced a release of low molecular weight (LMW) peptides that were demonstrated to provide a useful antioxidant activity. In the treated oat press cake proteins, the concentration of the bound phenolic compounds was decreased, with the exception of caffeic acid, which was increased, and avenanthramides, which remained unchanged. Finally, the enzymatic treatment decreased the concentration of phytic acid. All these results indicate that the enzymatic treatments may be useful to ameliorate the nutritional profile of these protein ingredients, before their inclusion in different food products.

Abstract:
Generally, coastal sandy soil has low water content and potassium nutrients. One way to fix this is by adding organic matter and potassium fertilizers. Sugarcane press mud compost as organic material acts as a slow-release fertilizer, it has an effect long enough to support plant growth. A pot experiment was carried out to test the probability of combining sugarcane press mud compost and potassium fertilizer to improve the vegetative growth of corn plants in coastal sandy soils. This research was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design. The first factor is the dosages of sugarcane press mud compost (0, 20, 25, 30, 35 tons per hectare). The second factor is the dosages of potassium fertilizer (0, 60, 90, and 120 kg K2O per hectare). After applying basal fertilizer (120 kg N per hectare and 90 kg P2O5 per hectare) and the treatment factor has been applied, the corn seed is planted and grown until vegetative growth or at flowering. The results showed that sugarcane press mud compost and potassium fertilizer interacted with the effect of shoots fresh and dry weight, fresh weight, and root dry weight. The combination treatment of 25 tons of sugarcane press mud compost per hectare and 90 kg K2O per hectare (B2P2) resulted in the highest fresh weight and dry weight of shoots. Meanwhile, the combination of 0 tons of sugarcane press mud compost per hectare and 120 kg K2O per hectare (B0P3) produced the highest fresh weight and plant roots' dry weight. The two treatments did not interact in influencing plant height and potassium content in the corn leaf tissue. Both the sugarcane press mud treatment (20, 25, 30 and 35 tons per hectare), and the application of potassium fertilizer (60 and 90 kg K2O per hectare) significantly increased plant height growth. The highest dosage of sugarcane press mud compost (35 tons per hectare) and potassium fertilizer (120 kg K2O per hectare) produces potassium content in plant leaf tissue

Abstract:
Purpose. To observe and compare the efficacy of modified trabeculectomy (TE), Ahmed drainage valve implantation (AGV), and EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt for refractory glaucoma (RG). Methods. The study population of this retrospective study comprised 73 patients (76 eyes) who were suffering from RG and treated with modified TE, AGV, and EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt in our hospital from October 2012 to October 2020. The number of cases who underwent modified TE, AVG, and EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt was 36 (38 eyes). 19 (20 eyes), and 18 patients (18 eyes), respectively. The intraocular pressure (IOP), best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), postoperative antiglaucoma medications, filter bubble morphology, anterior chamber depth (ACD), successful rate, and postoperative complications were recorded and statistically analyzed preoperative and 1 d, 1 w, 1 mon, 3 mon, 6 mon, and the end follow-up after operation. Results. The BCVA differed insignificantly among the three cohorts before and 6 months after surgery. Compared to preoperative BCVA, the postoperative BCVA of the three groups had no statistical significance. An obvious reduction in IOP was observed in all the three group after operation ( P < 0.05 ). An obvious decrease in antiglaucoma medications was observed after surgery in all the three groups ( P < 0.05 ). The AGV group showed deeper ACD postoperatively, while no marked difference was found in postoperative ACD in the other two groups. The total success rates in modified TE and AGV groups were slightly higher than those in the EX-PRESS group. The three groups differed insignificantly in filter bubble morphology after operation. Conclusion. Modified TE, AGV, and EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt showed equivalent efficacy for RG, which could validly reduce IOP and postoperative antiglaucoma medications. However, the success rates of modified TE and AGV were slightly higher than those of EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt in the last follow-up, and their complications were slightly less than those of the EX-PRESS glaucoma shunt.

Abstract:
Digital evolution is a computer-based instantiation of Darwinian evolution in which short self-replicating computer programs compete, mutate, and evolve. It is an excellent platform for addressing topics in long-term evolution and paleobiology, such as mass extinction and recovery, with experimental evolutionary approaches. We evolved model communities with ecological interdependence among community members, which were subjected to two principal types of mass extinction: a pulse extinction that killed randomly, and a selective press extinction involving an alteration of the abiotic environment to which the communities had to adapt. These treatments were applied at two different strengths, along with unperturbed control experiments. We examined how stability in the digital communities was affected from the perspectives of division of labor, relative shift in rank abundance, and genealogical connectedness of the community's component ecotypes. Mass extinction that was due to a Strong Press treatment was most effective in producing reshaped communities that differed from the pre-treatment ones in all of the measured perspectives; weaker versions of the treatments did not generally produce significant departures from a Control treatment; and results for the Strong Pulse treatment generally fell between those extremes. The Strong Pulse treatment differed from others in that it produced a slight but detectable shift towards more generalized communities. Compared to Press treatments, Pulse treatments also showed a greater contribution from re-evolved ecological doppelgangers rather than new ecotypes. However, relatively few Control communities showed stability in any of these metrics over the whole course of the experiment, and most did not represent stable states (by some measure of stability) that were disrupted by the extinction treatments. Our results have interesting, broad qualitative parallels with findings from the paleontological record, and show the potential of digital evolution studies to illuminate many aspects of mass extinction and recovery by addressing them in a truly experimental manner.

It was found out that the roller press with the claw-grooved confguration of molding components in comparison with the extruding-vacuum press allowed to obtain the higher quality briquettes which had the higher resistance against the fracture under the heat treatment. The most favourable clay moisture to use in the roller press was defned to be 21 %. It was established that production of the briquettes having just this moisture could provide both the minimal briquettes' destruction under the heat treatment and the energy consumption for the drying material before the compacting as well as it could increase the intact briquettes outcome of the press while the wet briquettes having higher strength.Ill.2. AbstractThis study examines how news factors in press releases influence journalists’ decisions and the journalistic treatment of press release information after its initial selection for the news agenda: These journalists can transform press releases into a news story, which involves little journalistic capital investment, or use these releases for a unique news production, which requires significant journalistic capital investment. The data elicited from the content analysis show that the more profound the presence of certain news factors in press releases, the higher the chance that journalists will choose to invest their journalistic capital in these press releases. This result means that journalists will only invest journalistic capital in press releases that contain specific news factors.

Abstract:
Paper mills are under constant pressure to increase their profits and to reduce their wastewater treatment costs. Champion International Mill in Hamilton, Ohio, is not an exception. The mill produces 340 to 365 tons/day of coated and uncoated printing and writing papers. Prior to 1996, Champion used less than 60 tons/day of secondary fiber. The usage of secondary fiber has increased to 100 to 114 tons/day. In 1996 improvements were made in the mill to reduce fiber losses. At that time the corporation also changed suppliers of polymers. As a result of these changes, the wastewater treatment plant saw its sludge disposal costs increasing. The solids from their screw presses decreased from 55% to 48%. This paper reports the series of options that were examined to improve the dewatering and to lower disposal costs. Included are changes in polymers and polymer applications, changes in the chemical sludge mixing, improved press orifice cleaning, and screw press motor load control systems. The effects of these changes have resulted in improved dewatering and the potential for even higher solids in the sludge cake. The economics of the sludge dewatering system are reviewed.

High pressure treatment of organic materials was introduced several years ago by Japanese researchers as a means to preserve food. Application potentials are also envisaged in the field of waste treatment. Hygienization effects, for instance, are achieved, when microbially contaminated samples are placed into an isostatic press and exposed, at room temperature, to a pressure of 4,000 bars and above. Deformation of the biopolymers under those extreme pressure conditions leads to effects such as coagulation, denaturation of proteins, crystallisation and/or gelatinization (Heremans 1992). As a result the microorganisms lose viability within a few minutes.

AbstractAn earlier prospective, randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial had suggested that Bryophyllum pinnatum might have potential in the treatment of overactive bladder. Here we investigated the effects of B. pinnatum leaf press juice, fractions enriched in flavonoids and bufadienolides, and a flavonoid aglycon mixture and individual aglycons on detrusor contractility as a major target in overactive bladder treatment. The strength of the detrusor contractions was investigated using porcine muscle strips stimulated with KCl. B. pinnatum leaf press juice increased the contraction force of muscle strips. Treatment with the flavonoid-enriched fraction had almost no effect on contractility, while the bufadienolide-enriched fraction and flavonoid aglycons led to a concentration-dependent lowering of the contraction force. The data indicate that several components of B. pinnatum leaf press juice may contribute to the inhibitory effect on detrusor contractility, which in turn provides support to overactive bladder treatment with B. pinnatum.

Abstract:
This descriptive research examined how attention paid to Arab- Israel relations news editorials in newspapers. To explore the state of Arab- Israel relations, editorials in newspapers content analysis has been conducted. Two theories were utilized: agenda-setting theory and framing theory in mixed-method research. By selecting three newspapers, 320 editorials related to Arab- Israel relations were obtained in six months from 15 Nov, 2020 to 15 May 2021 through purpose sampling. The findings of the study concluded that mostly editorials discussed the topics of Arab- Israel conflict/crisis and Israel's recent recognition by Arab states, which are highly reported in this time period. Most editorials were in positive/favorable, negative/unfavorable, and neutral directions, respectively. Two-thirds of the editorials discussed the nonscientific evidence. USA press (The Washington Post) have more tendency to present and focus the Arab-Israel relations-related editorials in positive/favorable direction content as compared to other newspapers.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to report outcomes in dogs with periprosthetic femoral fractures associated with a press-fit cementless femoral total hip replacement implant. Materials and Methods Electronic medical records and digital radiographs were used to identify dogs with periprosthetic femoral fractures associated with press-fit cementless total hip replacement. Data collected included signalment, weight, time of fracture, cause of fracture, presence of intra-operative fissure, fracture type, repair technique, and clinical and radiographic outcomes. Long-term patient outcome was assessed by communication with owners or referring veterinarians. Results Twenty-eight dogs with femoral fracture repair associated with cementless press-fit total hip replacement were identified. Eight of the fractures occurred intraoperatively and 20 occurred at a median of 2 days postoperatively. An oblique or spiral configuration was noted in 19 cases and 15 occurred at the distal end of the femoral stem (type B), with thirteen type B1, one type B2 and one type B3 fractures. Fractures were repaired with non-locking (18/28) or locking-plate fixation (10/28). Cerclage wire was applied around the plate and proximal bone segment in 17/28 dogs. Major complications occurred in 7/28 cases (five deep infection, two mechanical failures). Bone healing was noted in 21/23 cases, for which follow-up radiographic interpretation was available. Return to function was complete in 17 cases, acceptable in 8 cases and unacceptable in 3 cases. Conclusions While cementless total hip replacement periprosthetic femoral fractures can be successfully repaired with lateral plate fixation, the risk of infection appears to be high.

Abstract:
Friction is generated between a press tool and a material during the inflow of material in an automotive press drawing process. Currently, there is deficienttechnical information on such tool-material friction properties. This study is accordingly aimed to understand friction characteristics by investigating them from drawing variables in the press deep-drawing process for steel plates of 590MPa grade and above that are recently being applied for the reduction of weight and improvement of safety of automobiles. The drawing variables in this study are blank holder holding pressure, drawing velocity, and tool surface treatment, which are tested and applied for stamping analysis. The results showed that for holding pressure and drawing velocity, friction coefficient decreases as holding pressure and drawing velocity increases. In case of friction properties according to tool surface treatment, friction coefficient is lower in surface-treated tools compared to non-surface-treated tools, which verifies the need for surface treatment when fabricating press tools. In addition, this study ascertained the need to have a stamping analysis that considered actual drawing variables when analyzingforming by verifying the results of drawing simulations after applying the experimented friction coefficient in the stamping analysis.

Abstract:
Purpose. To increase the efficiency of surgical treatment of patients with secondary glaucoma using microfistulizing and micro-shunting operations: Ahmed valve implantation and Ex-press shunt. Material and methods. 53 patients (53 eyes) with secondary glaucoma underwent surgical treatment in the form of implantation of Ex-press shunt and Ahmed valve (models FP7, FP8) in the Orenburg branch of The S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution. We analyzed the results of surgical treatment of these groups of patients 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery. Results. The Ahmed valve system creates a longer stable hypotensive effect in secondary glaucoma in 26 cases (85.7 %) during follow-up up to 1 year after surgery than Ex-press shunt implantation, suspending the progression of glaucoma neuroopticopathy. The degree of proliferative and scarring changes in the angle of the anterior chamber directly depends on the values of IOP: the lower the IOP level, the less the degree of changes in the angle of the anterior chamber of the eye. Conclusion. Implantation of the Ahmed valve and Ex-press shunt is a low-traumatic operation and is an effective way to compensate for secondary glaucoma due to other eye diseases in these patients, at the same time, both the hypotensive and optical effects persist even one year after the operation. Keywords: unstabilized glaucoma, Ahmed valve, Ex-press valve, true pressure.

Abstract:
Extrusion of AlCuMg Alloys with Simultaneous Solution Heat Treatment In the work, the experiments on extrusion of high-strength aluminium alloys (2014 and 2024) with solution heat treatment on the press were performed. The experimental study describes extrudates microstructure and mechanical properties in dependence on alloy chemical composition, mode of homogenization treatment and temperature-speed extrusion conditions. The optical microscopy and SEM/EDS characterization were supported by DSC analysis, enabling to determine the solidus temperatures of the alloys. The investigations revealed that minimal contents of the main alloy additions (Cu, Mg), high-temperature homogenization and increased extrusion temperatures contributed to achieving high solutioning ratio of the alloys, guarantying improved mechanical properties of the extrudates. The high-temperature homogenization allowed achieving uniform microstructure of ingots with fine particles of intermetallic phases. The significant increase in solidus temperatures of the homogenized alloys enabled more effective solutioning on the run-out table. The maximal permissible metal exit speed was increased and the extrusion force was reduced in comparison to the conventional extrusion technology. The proposed solutions will allow for industrial producing AlCuMg extrudates of improved mechanical properties in the shortened technological cycle with heat treatment on the press.

Abstract:
Right now the distribution of polypropylene in the environment has become more and more so that it can pollute the environment. Thus polypropylene waste can be converted into a composite matrix. In this study, the manufacture of composites from recycled polypropylene was carried out, to be further combined with carbon fiber. After that, tensile testing is carried out to find out the mechanical properties. As a variation, there are differences in press media, namely using metal and ceramics. This research method is carried out experimentally, where when polypropylene waste has been softened using a heat gun at a temperature of 600 °C, it is emphasized using aluminum metal and ceramics so that polypropylene can be solid. Then for the dimensions of its manufacture according to ASTM D 638 for recycled polypropylene and ASTM D3039 for recycled polypropylene matrix carbon fiber composites. From the tensile test results for ASTM D638, specimens with suppression treatment using metal press media have an average maximum tensile strength of 5.40 MPa. As for specimens with ceramic press media has an average value of 6.32 MPa. Tensile testing on recycled polypropylene matrix carbon fiber composite specimens showed tensile strength with a value of 7.53 MPa for the treatment of metal press media and for ceramic press media its strength value of 10.66 MPa. Thus ceramic press media in the polypropylene composite manufacturing process is better than metal press media

Abstract:
Wear of material in unlubricated sliding type electrical contact (e.g. contact wires for trolleys and rotor materials in electric engines and current generators) is one of the main failure causing modes of copper (Cu)-based alloys. High electrical conductivity, high tensile strength, suitable hardness and wear resistance under such conditions should be provided. In a present paper required properties of dispersion-hardened Cu-based electrical conductive alloy (Cu-0.68 wt. % Cr-0.02 wt. % S) were obtained by equal-channel angular press treatment with following six press treatments by Bc route and suitable heat treatment. The wear tests were carried out in unlubricated sliding pair with graphite disk. Optimal properties were reached after annealing at 450 °C for 1 h, exhibiting a lowest wear rate (~1.9268·10-9 g·m-1), high electrical conductivity (up to 95 % IACS) and Vickers microhardness up to 1.7 GPa, respectively.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to assess the toxicity of sewage sludge from the municipal sewage treatment plant in Bialystok. Raw sewage, sewage sludge from the primary settling tank, activated sludge, sludge before the fermentation chamber, recirculated sludge and sewage sludge after fermentation and dehydration on press were tested. The Microtox Model 500 kit using Aliivibrio fischeri luminescent bacteria was used for the toxicity analyzes. The EC50 index (indicating the concentration of toxic substances resulting in a 50% reduction in the intensity of luminescence of the bacterial strains used) converted into the TUa toxicity units was adopted as the value describing the toxicity of the tested media. The obtained results showed high and very high ecotoxicity of raw sewage and sewage sludge from the primary settling tank, sludge in front of the fermentation chamber and after fermentation and dehydration in the press. The use of tests determining the toxicity of sewage flowing into the sewage treatment plant and sewage sludge generated at various stages of the treatment process allows to detect the danger associated with the uncontrolled discharge of toxic substances into the sewage system.

Abstract Granular insecticides were applied to suppress larval rootworm populations in two fields in west central Nebr. Insecticides were applied to Field I at planting on 18 May with application boxes on a John Deere Max-emerge planter. Two replications of each treatment were arranged in a randomized complete block design. T-Band applications were made in a 7.0 inch band in front of the press wheel. Banded applications were made by applying a 7.0 inch band behind the press wheel. In-furrow applications were made by applying insecticide directly into the seed furrow. Corn variety for Field I was undetermined at time of writing. Insecticides were applied to Field II at the time of irrigation furrow construction, 27 Jun, to the base of the plants, with International Harvester boxes on a Hawkins/Bridger ditching unit. Treatments in Field II were replicated 3 times and arranged in a randomized complete block design. All treatments were evaluated 13 Jul by rating washed roots, using the 1-6 Iowa State root rating scale, of 4 plants from each treatment.

The press builds a set of media representations on the facts of reality. The teachers' strike of 2017 marked a substantial milestone in the construction of the news in the Peruvian press, due to the informative singularity and prevalent discourses. Based on the analysis of the informative treatment of the journalistic notes, the underlying media intentions are revealed to present the teachers' conflict, from the conjuncture or anecdote, avoiding its causes; on the contrary, they highlight the scandal or spectacularism of the news. In fact, the media opted for sensationalism, linking the teachers' crisis with violence, anarchy and urban chaos.
