Jungle lodges in small towns have a very important role to play in these times of ecological tourism, environmental rescue and the importance of enjoying the contact with nature in order to preserve it. This study aimed to demonstrate that the Balanced Scorecard can serve as a tool for managing alternative tourist hotel enterprises, family business, located in the city of Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas state, Brasil. The Balanced Scorecard is a strategic management tool most widely used by organizations in Brazil and in the world and their goal is to evaluate and measure the organizational performance using indicators. These indicators reflect the mission, strategy and objectives into operational performance and operational data and are organized into four perspectives : financial , customer , internal processes and learning, and growth. This research regarding the technical procedures was a case study and, a descriptive study in order to identify, describe and analyze the facts of reality. In this study eight projects were observed, data were collected and analyzed without interfering directly in their functioning in order to propose the Balanced Scorecard as a strategic management system. Among the effective results were identified in the projects that they go through difficulties in their management. These difficulties are at different degrees at distinct issues: financial resources, number of staff, no occupancy during weekdays, space and support structure for services and stimulate the generation of ideas and suggestions. The main result was a proposal for implementing the Balanced Scorecard as a strategic management tool in the projects evaluated. So we reached the conclusion that the Balanced Scorecard is a strategic management tool suitable to be applied to projects due to its ease application and control. The application of the proposed Balanced Scorecard in the projects will improve efficiency in the provision of services, allow higher qualification level of employees, increase the level of satisfaction and loyalty, and generate greater financial return to the owner of the enterprise.

Abstract:
Previously threats were conceived as being connected to wars and armed attacks on other countries. But if we observe the world today there are financial situations that, if they got out of hand, could cause severe problems for large parts of a countries population. The environment is another area where severe consequences can be expected. Buzan, Waever and de Wilde (1998:2) work from the premises that security can, and should, be applied to a wider selection of areas in society. From this stand point this Bachelor thesis will cover the discourse of threats in the inaugural addresses of USAs five most recent presidents: Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump. The inaugural address` were chosen because it is the presidents opportunity to outline their strategy and ‘set the tone’ for their term in office (Brownell 2016).Throughout the analysis there is a focus on the five sections outlined in Buzans (1991:116) analysis model: military, politics, economy, ecology and societal. The analysis frame is based on both traditional realism and more alternative security theory. There is also a comparing element to examine whether there have been any changes in the discourse, connected to threats, since the 9/11 attacks. Furthermore, the study sets out to see if any of the subjects have shown signs of becoming securitized. The result of this study shows that the discourse of threat is mainly focused around the military section. There has been a general increase in the number of threats mentioned since 9/11, although some sections have decreased. Terrorism and immigration are the two questions that meets the criteria to have undergone securitization.

Abstract:
The central nexus of Chapter 1 the Lecumberri Palace, commonly known as the Black Palace—the state prison inaugurated in 1901, turned into the General National Archive in 1976, and the site of the public announcement of President Vicente Fox’s transparency reforms in 2002. Lecumberri is also the locus of the two early testimonial narratives on the 68 student movement and Tlatelolco massacre, by Luis González de Alba and José Revueltas. Their analysis shows how this theoretically closed, impermeable institution constitutes a node within the network of the modern spaces of discipline and, at the same time, the microcosm of Mexico City. On the other hand, the transmutations of Lecumberri serve to reflect on different modes of knowledge production, history writing and commemoration. Both the prison and the archive are shown to be more than just physical spaces—they are results of the ongoing embodied interpretative processes.

Abstract:
The Gilmer Hotel was a central spot for white power brokers, women’s club luncheons, and visiting travelers. Pruitt often took pictures there, whether it was politicians making speeches or white women eating in the Gardenia Room. The four-story hotel was made from clay hand-dug by Black slaves in 1860. During the Civil War, the hotel was converted into a hospital. The cast of characters visiting the Gilmer was remarkable. These included President William Taft, boxer Jack Dempsey, and actors Clark Gable and Doris Day. William Faulkner, an occasional visitor, captured the hotel’s spirit. in an April 1954 Holiday magazine essay. Faulkner wrote about leaving the Gilmer to get moonshine whiskey at a bootlegger’s in nearby Alabama hills. A decade after Pruitt photographed seven bellhops and hotel manager J.O. Slaughter, Slaughter helped bellhop Edward C. Bush and his wife Bessie secure a loan to renovate a hotel in a Black neighborhood. In 1947 the Bushes reopened the Queen City Hotel, one of the few Mississippi hotels for Blacks and listed in the Negro Travelers’ Green Book. Musicians B. B. King, Count Basie, and Marian Anderson and baseball player Jackie Robinson were among the Queen City’s guests.

Abstract The Peabody Hotel in Memphis is famous for its ducks. They waddle along a red carpet to the fountain in the lobby, then spend afternoons swimming to entertain the guests. In March 1985, Roger Smith went to the Peabody Hotel for a conference. A good friend of his, Howard Baker, a former senator from Tennessee and soon-to-be White House chief of staff for President Ronald Reagan, arranged for Smith to slip away from the conference long enough to meet Lamar Alexander, the governor of Tennessee. Lamar (practically everyone in Tennessee called the young governor by his first name) wanted to tell Roger Smith why the Saturn plant, which dozens of states were after, should be located in Tennessee.

Abstract:
Abstract On March 30, 1981, a troubled 25-year-old man with a .22-caliber pistol lurked in the crowd outside the Washington Hilton, where President Ronald Reagan was addressing a luncheon gathering of 3,500 AFL-CIO delegates. As the President emerged from the hotel lobby, the crowd surged toward him. Carefully positioned in the front rank, the young man pulled the pistol from his jacket and began firing. His first shot hit presidential press secretary James Brady over his left eye, entering the frontal lobe of his brain. The next bullet struck a Washington police officer; the third barely missed a presidential aide. A Secret Service agent who was attempting to shield the President took the fourth round in his abdomen, as the President was shoved by another agent into the Presidential limousine. The fifth shot smashed into the car’s bulletproof window, behind which a startled Ronald Reagan was huddled. Only one round remained in the gun. As the young man squeezed the trigger for the last time, the bullet ricocheted off the rear fender of the limousine, entered the vehicle through the still-open door, and struck the President on the left side of his chest. The assailant, his gun now empty, was wrestled to the ground by Secret Service agents.

Abstract:
Abstract This portrait centers on an incident in 1969, when Presbyterian churchwoman Cynthia Wedel was about to be elected president of the National Council of Churches (NCC), the first woman to achieve this honor. The meeting was a sustained uproar, however, repeatedly interrupted by activists protesting the Vietnam War, and then by Black churchmen with a Manifesto and a direct demand that the NCC elect Albert Cleage. In the course of events, Wedel was literally kidnapped and detained in a hotel room, told to stand down from the election in deference to Cleage. She refused and became NCC president, but as a woman in leadership—and representative of an older nonfeminist generation—had to walk a fine line, one that was familiar to the other women described in previous portraits.

Abstract:
Purpose – the purpose of this paper is to explore the possibilities of creating an integrated tourist product based on traditional wine production, wine culture and gastronomy, heritage and customs on the example of a small wine-growing area in Virovitica-Podravina County. Methodology – the authors of this paper wanted to examine the views and attitudes of small winery owners considering possibilities of developing a wholesome oeno-gastro experience. Based on the studied literature connected with wine and gastrotourism and the experience economy, as well as based on a field research of the mentioned area, the authors have conducted a structured in-depth interview with the president of Pitomača vine growers’ association and focus group with five winery owners to obtain information on their familiarity with scattered hotel models and the concept of unique tourism products based on the experience economy. Following the interview and data obtained through a focus group, a survey was conducted on a sample of fifteen respondents with the purpose of examining the attitudes of winery owners towards the opportunities and limitations for the development of this tourist product. Findings – the data obtained through the survey indicate the fact that most of the respondents are not familiar with the concept of scattered hotels or the opportunities provided by the market with the development of modern, personalized tourist experiences. Even though the respondents see the potential for developing such tourist product in the examined area, they encounter many obstacles in their reflection, which limits their inclusion in the tourist offer. Contribution – this paper can contribute to raising the awareness of local stakeholders for developing a unique offer by evaluating the existing, unused resources.

Abstract:
Between 1950 and 1965, foreign aid played a crucial role within the Indonesian economy. With the Cold War as a backdrop, this aid came from both Western and Eastern blocs with the intention of drawing Indonesia into their spheres of influence. The aid also played a crucial role in the development of architecture in the archipelago. A major endeavour within this period was the construction of buildings and venues for the Fourth Asian Games to be held in Jakarta in 1962 which involved a new stadium, an international-standard hotel and a large by-pass road around part of the city. Financial and technical aid from the Soviet Union, Japan and the United States was obtained to realise these projects. All the while, the Asian Games, along with the modern structures constructed for the event, provided Indonesia an opportunity to advance its own agenda, which was to construct a sense of self-confidence and national pride and to situate itself as a leader among decolonised nations. Nevertheless, foreign financial and technical aid played an important role in the realisation of these projects. The availability of foreign aid was intrinsically tied to President Ahmad Sukarno’s ability to play the interests of all sides. This paper examines plans and preparations for the Fourth Asian Games as a case of engagement between the two Cold War blocs with Indonesia in the middle. By focusing on the key building projects for the Games, the paper reveals the role of foreign aid in the development of architecture in Indonesia during a critical period in its post-war and post-independence formation. This development took place through the interaction of different interests—those of the Western Bloc, the Eastern Bloc, and Indonesia—in the midst of the Cold War and decolonisation period. A glimpse into the interaction may suggest a case of competition. However, examination of the three projects indicates that it was a case of multipolar collaboration instead.
