Abstract:
Today the phenomenon of getting married at a young age is rising and shown through social media. According to Islamic religious rules, there are many pros and contras against this phenomenon, especially related to marriage. It has led to various pre-marriage educational programs as a means of understanding and preparing for marriage. This study aimed to explore the experiences of a single woman in emerging adulthood who participates in Pre-Marriage Talk Class. This study used a qualitative approach with the snowball sampling technique. A total of 5 respondents participated in this study, and data were collected through an online interview. The respondent’s answers were then analyzed thematically. The results showed that Pre-Marriage Talk Class provides additional knowledge, awareness, and mindset to participants, including 1) knowledge about the age of marriage; 2) knowledge about the vision and mission of getting married; 3) awareness of knowing the self; 4) knowledge of managing the self and environment, and 5) changing mindset. Abstract:
Marriage is a sacred bond between husband and wife to live happily. However, many couples end up divorcing due to various factors such as disputes, economics, etc. For this reason, the Government conducts guidance on pre-marriage guidance to minimize divorce cases. This Article reviewed the implementation of pre-marriage guidance in the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Surabaya City to prepare brides and grooms for married life. This research is field research and qualitative. Data collection is conducted by observation, interview, and documentation. The data is then presented, analyzed, and concluded by a deductive analogy. This research concluded that the implementation of pre-marriage guidance in the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Surabaya City follows the Decree of the Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance No. 379 of 2018 concerning the implementation of pre-marriage guidance. In 2020, they held 28 pre-marriage guidance activities. Pre-marriage guidance is done to prepare the brides and grooms to live in harmony to reduce the occurrence of divorce. However, the implementation could be more optimal due to several factors, including funding, human resources, lack of coordination with several institutions, and awareness of brides and grooms to follow marriage guidance. This research contributes to the importance of the role of Pre-Marriage Guidance for Brides and Grooms as the foundation of the family. The debate about roles and barriers is discussed in this article.

Abstract:
<p>Pre-nuptial agreement which was originally provided in Article 119 of the Civil Code and Article 29 of Act Number 1 of 1974 may only be made upon or before the marriage is conducted. As for foreigners who conduct mixed marriage with Indonesian Citizen, without having pre-nuptial agreement before marriage is conducted or upon the marriage is conducted, the joint property in marriage shall be deemed as foreign property and in accordance with the Basic Agrarian Law, land and building which is registered under the name of Indonesian citizen who conduct mixed marriage with foreigners, which is not transferred after one year will become state property. Afterwards the Constitutional Court issued Decree Number : 69/PUUXIII/2015 which grants permission that pre-nuptial agreement may be made after the marriage is conducted. Can after marriage pre-nuptial agreement be applied retroactively without harming the third party? Pre-nuptial agreement may be made after the marriage is conducted if it's implementation does not harm the third party. Because after the pre-nuptial agreement is made the conjugal property is no longer joint property. The husband and wife property's title shall become their own property title respectively. Thus, Indonesian citizen property shall remain Indonesian citizen property, foreign citizen property shall remain foreign citizen property in mixed marriage. Land which is owned by Indonesian citizen may still be owned by Indonesian citizens because there is no joint ownership of property by foreign<br />citizen.</p>

Abstract:
The Catholic Church has long proclaimed the importance of pre-marriage education for the benefit of spouses and of society. It requires that education on the Rite of Marriage be part of the immediate phase of pre-marriage education so that the bridegroom and bride may receive greater benefit from the celebration of the sacrament. The terms ‘sacrament’ and ‘covenant’, which are central to the Church’s teaching on marriage, lack meaning for many Catholics and particularly for the young. The current emphasis on New Evangelization includes a call to find new ways to speak to an increasingly secular society. One challenge facing the Church as it seeks to clarify the meaning of marriage is to develop a new model of pre-marriage education which communicates the Church’s teaching on sacrament and covenant in a manner which speaks clearly and effectively to the culture of today. This thesis develops a new model of pre-marriage education using the method of liturgical theology to identify the fundamental official meanings (theology) of the Rite of Marriage and to compare those meanings with the meanings couples derive from the experience of the rite. This study is limited to the Catholic Rite of Marriage as it is enacted within the Australian context.

Abstract:
Thesis Msc.(Clinical Psychology))--University of Limpopo, 2009.
The overall scope of the study was to explore reasons why couples do not present themselves for premarital counselling. Research indicates that despite the high divorce rates and dissatisfaction with the institution of marriage, most engaged couples are reluctant to participate in premarital counselling, in spite of its demonstrated efficacy. To understand the reasons for this lack of participation, five (5) couples who were in the process of getting married were interviewed. The results of the analysis indicate that engaged couples experience high levels of relationship satisfaction. This may result in the low participation rate as they do not perceive themselves as being susceptible to marital problems and divorce. However, due to the small sample size, it is difficult to generalize the findings. As a result further research is suggested. It is also recommended that research be conducted to determine the connection between the lack of awareness surrounding premarital counselling and participation in premarital counselling. Lastly, it is also recommended that the structure and format of the program should be made to appear more appealing and socially acceptable.

Abstract:
Pre-marital cohabitation has become a mainstream practice among couples in the United States, yet initial empirical evidence demonstrated significant correlations between cohabitation and subsequent marital instability. Later studies disputed a causal relation and have attempted to show a weakened connection over time, but have themselves suffered from the use of exclusively older and/or unreliable data. This paper uses figures from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (1997-08) and the National Survey of Family Growth (2006-08) to provide an updated analysis of cohabitation’s effect on marriage over the past decade. Using proportional hazard and competing risk models, this paper confirms a now minimal impact of cohabitation on marriage stability, with possible exceptions for serial cohabitation and cohabitation begun prior to engagement. Moreover, this study finds that cohabitation overwhelmingly remains a step toward, rather than serious substitute for, marriage.

Abstract:
The shift from Modernism to Postmodernism had a dramatic impact on different spheres of life, especially on premarital relationships. The Song of songs has been used as basis theory in this study on premarital relationships. The study attempts to lay down guidelines for premarital relationships from the conviction that human relationships are grounded in God's love for man. The perspectives which have became evident are developed and evaluated through the meta-theory. Any study on young people in relationships must consider changes in society due to the fact that young people perform an important seismographic function. This is due to the fact that they are not only deeply affected by these changes but are also acting as indicators for the demands and challenges that changing times has on people and relationships. The lifecycle from late adolescence to early adulthood is studied. Special focus is given to different areas of development in this lifecycle as well as to different relationships young people are involved with. Qualitative interviews have been used to determine the effect of the Postmodernism and the specific lifecycle on young people in premarital relationships. A practice-orientated theoretical framework for pastoral guidance of young people in premarital relationships is drafted.

Toundé, Ernest-Léonard. "Le mariage au Congo - Brazzaville." Thesis, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022ASSA0001.

Full text
Abstract:
The study of marriage in Congo-Brazzaville highlights the basis of the relations that exist between state law and customary law in matters of the formation and termination of the marital bond. Our thesis aims to shed light on the nature of these relationships through the prism of civil marriage and customary marriage. Indeed, the legal regime attached to family law and marriage within the framework of the policy inherited from French civil law and which is developed in the Congolese Family Code, presents two opposing visions on the legal and sociological level. Consequently, we have a legal system that favors state law to the detriment of customary law. Downstream, we are witnessing a resurgence of customary practices whose resistance and insistence weaken judicial institutions and state law. As such, the relationship between spouses presents a matrimonial organization which is based on a principle of equality. This equality is however weakened by the place reserved for the husband in the name of marital power, and which presents a form of domination of the woman by the latter. Also, while monogamy is the common law regime, Congolese law allows polygamy. In addition, the dowry, which formerly had only a sociological and anthropological value, now has legal value in the Family Code, which makes it a prerequisite for the formation of civil marriage, by building a customary institution called pre-marriage. As such, the Congolese legal system presents a dualistic system in the form of a rule of legal conflict, which gives jurisdiction to two different sources of law to govern the conditions of formation and termination of the matrimonial bond. Which ultimately leads us to wonder if the codification of family law in general and marriage in particular was not a missed appointment for the Congolese legislator?

Abstract:
AbstractIn the Qur’an, sex outside marriage is a topic addressed to men and women equally, although society has come down much harder on women in this regard. A distinction is made between pre-marital and extra-marital sex (adultery), yet we hear almost nothing about that, with the two typically collapsed into a single category in the public discourse. While four witnesses are required to prove illicit sex of any kind, a mere expression of remorse is sufficient for the accused to be left alone per Qur’anic dictate. Where remorse is absent, the Qur’an takes a harder line against extra-marital sex and instructs “flogging”, an act of (limited) public shaming undertaken with harmless instruments, per the historical record, rather than the commonly held belief that its intention was corporal harm. How could it be otherwise, anyway, since women are prescribed the same number of “lashes” as men despite the physical differences between the two? As for stoning, it is not mentioned anywhere in the Qur’an.

Abstract:
Despite substantial progress over the last two decades, girls in many parts of the world experience worse educational outcomes than boys, particularly at the secondary and tertiary levels. The COVID-19 pandemic appears to have exacerbated this learning gap in many regions, making research on the relationship between girls’ education outcomes and education systems increasingly urgent. This rapid review explores the determinants of girls’ education outcomes in a specific group of Indo-Pacific countries. It examines the education system determinants of these outcomes such as government investment, teacher training, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in schools, school-related gender-based violence, and indirect costs of education, drawing from pre-COVID-19 data. It also investigates societal determinants such as political factors, poverty rates, labour market participation trends, and child marriage rates. By attempting to explain differences in learning outcomes for girls, it also achieves a typology of countries in the region and suggests ideas for further research and FCDO programming.
