Abstract:
BackgroundCare of people with serious mental illness in prayer camps in low-income countries generates human rights concerns and ethical challenges for outcome researchers.AimsTo ethically evaluate joining traditional faith healing with psychiatric care including medications (Clinical trials.gov identifier NCT02593734).MethodResidents of a Ghana prayer camp were randomly assigned to receive either indicated medication for schizophrenia or mood disorders along with usual prayer camp activities (prayers, chain restraints and fasting) (n= 71); or the prayer camp activities alone (n= 68). Masked psychologists assessed Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) outcomes at 2, 4 and 6 weeks. Researchers discouraged use of chaining, but chaining decisions remained under the control of prayer camp staff.ResultsTotal BPRS symptoms were significantly lower in the experimental group (P= 0.003, effect size –0.48). There was no significant difference in days in chains.ConclusionsJoining psychiatric and prayer camp care brought symptom benefits but, in the short-run, did not significantly reduce days spent in chains.Declaration of interestNone.

Abstract:
The article provides a brief description of an unpublished handwritten work by Mukhammad-Amin al-Bulgari, devoted to the issue of the obligation to perform a night prayer on short summer nights, when the evening dawn does not disappear until the dawn. The work is a dispute in absentia between the author and an opponent representing the camp of those who believed that the obligatory nature of night prayer on the mentioned days of the year subsides due to the absence of a reason for its obligatory nature, which is the disappearance of twilight. The author refutes the condition put forward by the opponent by the fact that the real reason for the obligation to perform a prayer is that a person receives benefits from Almighty Allah, while physical signs serve as nothing more than a guideline for its performance. Coordinating the hadith about the imamship of Jibril (Gabriel), which explains the times of five prayers, and the hadith of Dajjal (The Antichrist), which refers to the need to determine the conditional time of prayer during the day, which will last a year, the author concludes that the first does not imply a physical sign (disappearance of dawn), but the corresponding period of time.

Abstract:
AbstractThis essay examines the 1990 documentary Like a Prayer, emphasizing performances by Chicano AIDS activist Ray Navarro, to reassess two prevailing narratives in religion and politics. First, it challenges the culture wars distinction between secular progressivism and religious conservatism that haunts histories of religion and sexuality. It locates American AIDS activism at the center of religious and sexual narratives to question the range of subjects that become visible as “religious.” Second, reading Like a Prayer as part of the archive of modern Catholicism exposes scholarly assumptions about the relationships between religion and politics, sincerity and performance, religion and secularism. This essay expands the archive of the culture wars—and of queer and Catholic history—to include another form of religious engagement: the use of camp. Thinking with an analytics of camp suggests how AIDS activists employed religious imagery in ways that confound the very division between Catholic and anti-Catholic, religious and secular.

Abstract:
This research was conducted in order to reveal the details and details of the history of prayer history in the interpretation of Ibn Kathir. In this study, several important conclusions can be taken, First, prayer actually has been long before Islam came, as evidenced by the practices of prayer performed by Pagan around the Ka'bah in certain different ways and relationships with the way of Islamic prayer compilation comes. Second, from the interpretation data that the writer can convey the period of the stipulation of prayer in the interpretation of Ibn Kathir into two, namely the obligation prayer before Isra` and Mi`raj, and obliation prayer by Isra` and Mi`raj. To pray before Isra` and Mi`raj, the Messenger of Allah had performed the evening prayer through Surat al-Muzzammil sentence 1 and prayed in the morning and evening with the anatomy of the raka`at prayer only two raka`at-dua raka`at, because of Isra `and Mi`raj as the beginning of the five-day prayer period, raka`at prayer still consists of two raka`at, the prayer provisions are fourteen raka`at fix the Prophet's compilation in Medina, by providing the two prayers raka`at is given to those who is on the way (Safar) and prayer with four raka`at is intended for the settled. Third, the night prayer required to complete the beginning of prophethood became the sunna of the compilation of Muslims already in Medina, due to the factor of seeing the enthusiasm of Muslims who performed the evening prayers so that they were burdensome.

Abstract:
Discipline in this day and age is still a difficult thing to apply in life, especially the problem of time discipline, many young people do not care about time. Discipline character is a condition that is created and formed through the process of a series of behaviors that show the values of obedience, obedience, loyalty, order and order. Education is a human civilizing process, and schools are formal institutions to civilize humans. The formation of school culture begins with a process of habituation that is carried out in a planned, integrated, systematic and organized manner. One of the habituation programs carried out at SMP Plus Al-Ittihad Cianjur is the habit of praying fardhu and sunnah prayers in congregation. The purpose of the research in this thesis is to describe the planning, implementation, evaluation, and the things that support and hinder the habituation program for congregational prayers. To discuss these problems, data was collected in the field by applying the instruments of interview, observation and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed through a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method. The results of the study at SMP Plus Al-Ittihad Cianjur explained that the planning of the congregational prayer habituation program had been formulated in the form of a work program that was in line with the Vision and Mission of SMP Plus Al-Ittihad Cianjur. Plus Al-Ittihad Cianjur through habituation of congregational Fardhu and Sunnah prayers. Evaluation of the congregational prayer habituation program focused on timeliness in carrying out congregational prayers between groups of students who prayed in congregation at the beginning of time and groups of students who prayed in congregation who came late. -Ittihad Cianjur, as well as adequate facilities and infrastructure. The inhibiting factors for the congregational prayer habituation program come from students such as a sense of laziness and low student motivation. Thus, the implications of the congregational prayer habituation program have a positive impact on students, namely increasing faith and piety, praying five times a day without feeling forced. Students who carry out the habit of praying in congregation early in time have a high discipline and responsibility attitude, for example entering class on time, always doing schoolwork well and other obligations, so that they have achievements in both academic and non-academic fields. In addition, students who always carry out the habit of praying together at the beginning of time, they have good morals towards teachers (ustadz-ustadz) and friends and the people around them, in terms of speech as well as their attitudes and behavior.

Abstract:
PTFE is not melt-processible. One of the production methods of PTFE parts consists in the powder compaction at room temperature followed by a thermal treatment, the sintering. Fillers can be added to the virgin powder. In order to be able to predict the properties of the obtained green parts and to have a reliable tool to optimize the parameters of the process, modeling of the mechanical behavior of PTFE compounds during their industrial pressing in big billets is proposed. Experimental characterization is made thanks to a 3D compaction tool, installed in the triaxial machine ASTREE. From original and complex loadings, a Drucker-Prager/cap model is identified, where the variations of density and properties are described. In addition to the elastoplastic model, a phase transformation in the crystalline structure at ambient temperature under pressure is experimentally characterized, modeled and implemented in the FE code. Then the interaction of the PTFE with a metallic counterpart is described as a friction between the PTFE transfer film and the bulk PTFE, characterized by the internal friction coefficient of the Drucker-Prager line once the cohesion of the material is reached. No additional parameter needs to be identified. Two laboratory tests allow the validation of the model, an instrumented œdometric tool and an original ‘V’ tool where the displacement field of the material during the compaction is measured by Digital Image Correlation. FE simulation of the whole compaction process is finally made and compared to industrial data. First links between the compaction and the sintering are established by a characterization of the crystalline texture thanks to XRD

_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
Concrete Face Rockfill Dams (CFRD) have been constructed with increasing frequency all around the world. However, design criteria still are mostly empirical and based on practical experience obtained during the construction of this type of dam. The use of numerical analyses is not yet a usual tool in the development and design of CFRD. Aiming to reduce the design empiricism, this research proposes a methodology to analyze the CFRD behavior and to design the structural concrete face, based on the following aspects: three-dimensional numerical analysis of all design phases (construction, reservoir filling and rapid drawdown); associated analysis of the concrete face and the rockfill dam mass; interface element to represent the contact between these structures; separated analysis of concrete face with plate elements over an elastic bases, using settlement coefficients calibrated from the numerical analysis during reservoir filling phase. The methodology was validated using Barra Grande Dam as a case study. In these analyses, the rockfill was simulated with the Modified Cam- Clay elastoplastic model, the concrete face with a linear elastic model and the interface represented by an elastic-perfectly plastic model with the Drucker-Prager failure criterion. The results highlight the influence of the construction process, imposed boundary conditions on the shoulders interface and the changes in shoulder slope on the whole dam behavior, resulting in an optimized concrete face design regarding the rate of steel reinforcement. Therefore, this research represents a contribution to CFRD design, based on a rational technical framework.

Abstract:
In the pharmaceutical industry, dry granulation by roll compaction is a process of size enlargement of powder into granules with good flowability for subsequent die compaction process. Understanding the roll compaction process and optimizing manufacturing efficiency is limited using the experimental approach due to the high cost of powder, time-consuming and the complexity of the process. In this work, a 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) model was developed to identify the critical material properties, roll press designs and process parameters controlling the quality of the product. The Drucker-Prager Cap (DPC) model was used to describe the powder compaction behavior and was determined based on standard calibration method. To overcome the complexity involving two different mechanisms of powder feeding by the screw and powder compaction between rolls, a novel combined approach of Discrete Element Method (DEM), used to predict the granular material flow in the feed zone and the Finite Elements Method (FEM) employed for roll compaction, was developed. Lastly, for a more realistic roll compaction modelling, allowing the fluctuation of the gap between rolls, a Coupled-Eulerian Lagrangian (CEL) approach was developed. FEM simulation results clearly show the effect of different process parameters on roll pressure and density distribution in the compaction zone of powder between the rolls. Moreover, results show that using a cheek-plates sealing system causes a nonuniform roll pressure and density distribution with the highest values in the middle and the lowest at the edges. On the other hand, the resultant pressure and density distributions with the rimmed-roll obtained higher values in the edges than in the middle and overall a more uniform distribution. The combined DEM-FEM methodology clearly shows a direct correlation between the particle velocity driven by the screw conveyor to the feed zone and the roll pressure, both oscillating in the same period. This translates into an anisotropic ribbon with a density profile varying sinusoidally along its length. To validate the results, the simulations are compared with literature and experimentally measured values in order to assess the ability of the model to predict the properties of the produced ribbons

One of the methods for the processing of refractory material is cold pressing of the powder material, followed by sintering. Heterogeneous distribution of density can occur in the green compact during pressing because of the friction between the particles of the material and the pressing tools, that may hinder the sintering step. In this context, the simulation of the pressing process constitutes an important tool for the study and improvement of this step, to obtain green compacts with good microstructural homogeneity and also analyze the pressing tools to optimize its design in industrial applications. The identification of a constitutive model to represent the powder material is required to perform the simulation and it is the most complex step. The Drucker-Prager/Cap model implemented in the commercial software of finite elements, AbaqusTM, is suitable primarily for soil compaction study and is able to simulate the mechanical compaction of particulate materials. The parameters of this model have been obtained for a silico-aluminous refractory by a combination of simple, diametrical and hydrostatic compression tests. In studies available in the literature, the material models are partially identified, and in many cases, inadequate simplifications are applied. This study aimed to identify the parameters of the material model more precisely using the digital images correlation technique in the mechanical tests, which enabled a greater understanding of the yielding mechanisms and the achievement of data not obtained by conventional techniques. This methodology allowed the identification of a constitutive model and it was valitaded by the good agrrement between experimental results and those obtained in computer simulations, applied to a uniaxial case followed by isostatic pressing.

Abstract:
The current situation of conflict in Northern Nigeria in the past decade has been responsible for more displacement than in the region’s previous recorded history. According to the Global Terrorism Index, Nigeria is the most terrorised country in Africa and the third most terrorised on the planet. The UNHCR and IDMC estimate over 3.2 million people displaced in the region with 2.58 millions of them scattered internally. The consistency of these conflicts has given rise to a perpetual process of internal displacement and rare forms of peripherality. IDP/Refugee camps are most often treated as periphery—appendices to the script of the city. As peripheries, IDP camps and informal settlements in various cities in the north are constantly faced with a pressing need to develop resilience for just surviving. There are currently no significant research attempts to study these resilience characters. The research focuses on the socio-spatial praxes of Durumi (Area 1) camp towards resilience. Durumi Camp is a rather surreptitious periphery sandwiched in a middle-class area in the city of Abuja in Nigeria. Using a mixed approach of ethnography, digital spatial analyses, and architecture, the new lives of the campers are studied in their simple but sophisticated adaptations to the dynamics of their new social and physical environment. The findings of the spatial study engage and further raise new questions and notions of the periphery in terms of socio-spatial compatibility, movement, re-enactment and re-invention of socio-spatial practices and cultures in African urbanity. The study also displaces the current theories of the periphery that describe it as fully dependent on the city center in terms of innovation. The study is a product of three years of ethnographic field work and spatial study in the area. It helps expand the discourse of the center and periphery in the context of conflict, displacement, and vulnerability.

Abstract:
The PN Kammalia-Tarawa in an Old Assyrian tablet seems to be the earliest reference of the deity Darawa. The Luwian background this deity is also apparent, e.g., from the plural form DDa-ra-ú-wa-an-zi or from those texts mentioned in CTH 457 and the etymological interpretation of the divine name to the Luwian verb tarāwi(ya)-. Since the early Middle Hittite period Darawa also found her way into the Hattian milieu and as a goddess connected with the family life, she is mentioned several times in festivals for a queen (CTH 646), but also in the Hittite Prayer to the Sun-goddess of the Netherworld (CTH 371) which is – in my opinion – the only Hittite texts mentioning Darawa within the “pantheon of the state”. Texts from the Hurrian and Kizzuwatnaean milieu (e.g., CTH 351) also refer several times to Darawa, but this is clearly the result of a secondary and marginal dissemination of the goddess. In conclusion one might say that Darawa from her Luwian background also came into contact with various milieus of the “Hittite pantheon”, functioning as a goddess providing good (and evil) to humans in everyday life.

This fragment offers a close reading of the material, historical, and theological significance of the home altar of the author’s Cuban-American grandmother. A resting place for a string of religious memorabilia—from prayer books overflowing with holy cards to statues of la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre and the Pope—it shows that that the objects that comprise the altar are deeply commodified yet irreducible to that commodification. These fragments of kitschy commodities reveal a theology practiced and embodied in and through the limitations and possibilities of culture that resists even narratives that would measure them by their lack of ability to resist the market.

Abstract Jesus came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. When he reached the place, he said to them, "Pray that you may not come into the time of trial." Then he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done." [Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength. In his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.] When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief, and he said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not come into the time of trial."

Abstract:
‘Modernity and the Book of Common Prayer’ describes the revisions and changes to the Book of Common Prayer from the 17th century onwards. It outlines the plans to revise the book by the General Synod of the Church of England, a process that began in 1964 resulting in the 1980 Alternative Service Book. The biggest change came with the publication of Common Worship in 2000, which replaced the Book of Common Prayer outright. It abolished uniformity, providing alternative prayers for different services and encouraging experimentation and improvisation. The Book of Common Prayer always operated as an instrument of monolithic social order. This alone made it difficult for it to survive into the 21st century.

Abstract:
The Book of Common Prayer in its “classical” form came into general use in the English church as one component of the so-called “Elizabethan settlement” of religion enacted by Parliament in 1559. Certain alterations of the text, small but important, were made at that time. This chapter is mainly concerned with its use and reception in the century that followed. Among the topics considered are two texts that were very commonly bound with the Prayer Book as quasi-official adjuncts, the “singing Psalms” and “Godly Prayers”; the adaptation and abridgment of the contents for particular uses; and opposition to the Prayer Book on the part of the section of English protestants conventionally known as puritans.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The meshless integral method based on regularized boundary equation [1][2] is extended to analyze elastoplastic geotechnical materials. In this formulation, the problem domain is clouded with a node set using automatic node generation. The sub-domain and the support domain related to each node are also generated automatically using algorithms developed for this purpose. The governing integral equation is obtained from the weak form of elastoplasticity over a local sub-domain and the moving least-squares approximation is employed for meshless function approximation. The geotechnical materials are described by pressure-sensitive multi-surface Drucker-Prager/Cap plasticity constitutive law with hardening. A generalized collocation method is used to impose the essential boundary conditions and natural boundary conditions are incorporated in the system governing equations. A comparison of the meshless results with the FEM results shows that the meshless integral method is accurate and robust enough to solve geotechnical materials.

In order to have a better understanding of the performance of non-pneumatic tires (Tweel™) on soil and provide information for further optimization of this Tweel™, we model and simulate the interaction between Tweel™ and soil using finite element method (FEM). In this paper, the model of the Tweel™ is described in detail. The Tweel™ is treated as a deformable body. The Drucker-Prager/Cap plasticity constitutive law with hardening is employed to model sand. The material properties of Lebanon sand found in New Hampshire that has a complete set of material properties in the literature is used. Numerical results show deformation of sand and Tweel™. The stress distributions in sand, Tweel™, and along the interface between them are also presented. We next illustrate how this interaction model can be used to develop new tractive solutions for lunar exploration and terrestrial travel over dry soil.

To optimize the design of the non-pneumatic tire for NASA’s new Moon mission, Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to investigate the tread effects on the interaction between cellular shear band-based non-pneumatic tire and sand. The cellular shear bands, which are made of an aluminum alloy (AL7075-T6), are designed to have the same effective shear modulus of 6.5E+6 Pa. The Lebanon sand found in New Hampshire is used and Drucker-Prager/Cap plasticity constitutive law with hardening is employed to model the sand. The tires and tread are treated as deformable elastic bodies. Penalty contact algorithm is used to model the tangential behavior of the contact between the tread and sand and Coulomb’s law is considered for the friction between tire and sand. Numerical results show the deformation of sand and tire. The stress (strain) distribution in sand, tire, and along the interface between them are also presented. The effect of the tread on the contact pressure between tire and sand is explored. Numerical results show that the shear band with cellular geometry of (θ = −65°, h = 21) is the most promising for use in the non-pneumatic tire.

Several treaded cellular shear bands have been investigated and it is found that the shear band with cellular geometry of (θ = −65°, h = 21) is the most promising to give us best contact pressure profile. To further optimize the design of the pneumatic tire made with this cellular geometry for NASA’s new moon mission, the Finite Element Method is used to investigate the effect of the thickness of membranes on the performance of the cellular shear band based non-pneumatic tire. In this research, we use the Lebanon sand found in New Hampshire and employ the Drucker-Prager/Cap plasticity constitutive law with hardening to model the sand. Penalty contact algorithm is used to model the tangential behavior of the contact between the tread and sand and Coulomb’s law is considered for the friction between tire and sand. The tires and tread are treated as deformable elastic bodies. Numerical results show the deformation of sand and tire, the stress (strain) distribution in sand, tire, and along the interface between them for different thickness of the membranes and hub. The effect of membrane thickness on the contact pressure between tire and sand is explored and it reveals that the tire with thickness t = 0.2mm for inner and outer membranes is not acceptable in terms of the elastic deformation of tire and contact pressure profile and the tire with thickness t = 1.0mm gives us best contact pressure profile.

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
Pipelines in operation often experience various loadings due to operational and environmental conditions. Large strain may be accumulated in the pipes under these loadings, and it may eventually induce local buckling or even fractures on the pipes. It is a common practice that a stress relief procedure is applied to a pipe by removing the soil around the pipe, allowing the pipe to spring back to a zero load state. The frequency of stress relief procedure is dependent on the severity of loading and soil conditions. This project is intended to study the behavior of buried pipes subjected to repeated stress relief procedures. The buried pipeline at Pembina River Crossing in Lodgepole, Alberta was simulated using the finite element method and the results were compared with field measured data. The pipeline at Pembina River Cross is situated at the active soil movement locations. A finite element model was developed to simulate the slope movement and the pipeline response. The correlation between soil movement and precipitation was investigated. With shell elements for pipe, 3D-solid elements for soil, this model captures the global and local behavior of pipeline. Soil-pipe interaction was simulated by setting a weak layer of soil surrounding the pipeline. The model incorporates nonlinear material, slope soil creep and water table change. Modified Drucker-Prager Cap Model was applied to soils based on direct shear test results. The finite element model was calibrated by slope indicator data and strain gauge data with satisfactory agreement. The model was used to simulate the strain accumulation and the stress relief in the pipeline, before and after the stress relief operation. Reasonable agreement was achieved when compared to the field data. The model can be used to further understand the behavior of pipe under repeated soil movement and stress relief procedure. It can also be used to develop the optimum stress relief procedure and operating schedule.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Germany is a parliamentary democracy (The Federal Government, 2021) with two politically independent levels of 1) Federal (Bund) and 2) State (Länder or Bundesländer), and has a highly differentiated decentralized system of Government and administration (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, 2021). The 16 states in Germany have their own government and legislations which means the federal authority has the responsibility of formulating policy, and the states are responsible for implementation (Franzke, 2020). The Federal Government supports the states in dealing with extraordinary danger and the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) supports the states' operations with technology, expertise and other services (Federal Ministry of Interior, Building and Community, 2020). Due to the decentralized system of government, the Federal Government does not have the power to impose pandemic emergency measures. In the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to slowdown the spread of coronavirus, on 16 March 2020 the federal and state governments attempted to harmonize joint guidelines, however one month later State governments started to act more independently (Franzke & Kuhlmann, 2021). In Germany, health insurance is compulsory and more than 11% of Germany’s GDP goes into healthcare spending (Federal Statistical Office, 2021). Health related policy at the federal level is the primary responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Health.
