Full textWho are these surging ghosts, friendly ghosts from memories whose writers are looking for ? The ghost invades contemporary literature in the form of a haunting memory, putting aside the question of belief and the fantastic. Detached from its spiritual hue, the ghost is an imaginary creation. It's an insistent force which takes root in the traces left by the disappeared and pushes the writers to carry out an investigation. From this ghostly investigation is born an attempt to make a body to the ghost through the multiplication of representations, the association with other figures and the materialization of documentary traces, real materials of the ghost. Just like the ghost, the ghostly investigation come back, revealing through this succession of investigations, a tendency towards serial writing. When the investigation does not return, it's the picture of the ghost that return, confronting us with a new appearance of the missing. This return reflects the contemporaneity of the ghost and interrogates the space in which it appears. Is the ghost only at home in the text? Can his powerfully literary heart lead him to expose himself, to perform himself and to incarnate himself in an extratextual elsewhere, taking advantage of the invitation to emerge in our lives? Through practice and theoretical research, I question the form taken by the ghost in the ghostly investigation as well as the use of documentary resources that writers and I use to embody it. The union of these two researches - form and material - will reveal the behind the scenes of a manufacturing of ghost

Full textOur thesis is on the mechanism used by the teachers of the pilot project to improve the quality of basic education (PAQUEB) in Cameroon to ease the tension engendered by the introduction of the XO computers in their schools. In a systematic manner, our study analyses the emergence of a community of practice in the practising school of Angalé and the process of generating digital resources in this community (Wenger, 1998, Rabardel, 1995, Gueudet et Trouche, 2008).The analysis of the activity of producing digital resources in a community context, by people who do not possess the required competence in this field of using XO computers in class, is a complex operation. Our research work sheds light on the manner in which community work can enable teachers to develop technopedagogic skills by learning from their peers in a context where singular initial and in-service training have weakness. In order to carry out our study, we have used the didacitic documentary approach in a community context (Gueudet et Trouche, 2008). In order to realize our study, we have proposed an immersion in the universe of the practising school of Angalé in Ebolowa, South of Cameroon. We have also shed light on the community and individual processes of generating digital resources in a community of teachers who have successfully set up an in-service training scheme of a particular type. Our research approach is based on tools proposed in the procedure of the scientific committee’s analysis of the teacher’s activity. The complexity of this phenomenon has made us choose a systematic approach to tackle the phenomenon observed. In a duration of nearly three consecutive years, we have observed the teachers of Angalé generating digital resources as individuals and as a community. This observation has enabled us to take note of the evolutions in the professional development of teachers in a cooperative learning process within the framework of a practice community which integrates a technopedagogic innovation into practices. We have also demonstrated the link between participation and reification in the process of community documentary work, the dynamics of instrumentation and instrumentalisation process among teachers who are learning to build and produce digital documents. Keywords: XO computers, document generation community of practice, digital resources, in-service training, professional development, primary school, documentary system, tool systems, families of activities, class situations, singular situations

Full textThe epistemological prescriptions and didactics of the university disciplinary are next to a documentary order based on the selection and the intellectual and physical treatment of documents within the common service of documentation. The apprenticeship of the History demands a particular attention on the methodological characters and on the nature of the exempt teachings. The History raises from a formalization curriculaire liable for requirements of validation by diplomas and for prescriptifs speeches. Our investigation concerns students' representations in History on their own documentary practices. It is a question of determining the manners the answers of which they envisage to the educational requirements of their discipline according to their level of programme. We examine the manners among which fifteen students in History represent themselves the constraints of selection and exploitation (operation) of the documentary resources according to the requirements of their discipline. Our study bases itself on an anthropological approach pressed on semi-directive conversations. The results show us that the students grant a strong intellectual pledge to the monographs printed (scientific and manual works) as well as to the technical control of Web. A majority of the questioned students act in tacticians, alternating between the will to answer the disciplinary requirements by a reduced documentary investment and the wish to be in accordance with these same requirements. The majority of them arrange only few criteria objectivizing their informative and documentary choices. These tactics are above all directed to the profitability of the documentary resources, and less to the informative quality which remains nevertheless dominating in the methodological requirements and epistemological of the teaching of the History

Full textIn this PhD, I study the collective work of language teachers and its consequences for collectives and individuals, particularly with regard to the design and use of digital resources. To do this, I analyse the activity of three collectives of the region of Rennes by mobilising the theory of the documentational approach to didactics and that of the communities of practice. I first specify the community documentation, by proposing a description of the collective resource system, before explaining the community knowledge identified during the design work. In a second step, I describe the effects of the integration of this/these resource(s), collectively designed, in the practice of some teachers. To do this, I rely on the analysis of key episodes to uncover ongoing documentational genesis. My work introduces a schematization of the community resource system represented under a double level of description including the definition of blocks of situated collective resources. Finally, I propose a description of the schemes individually developed by teachers, articulating the document table and the design capacity concept

Full textBeyond Documentary Realism: Aesthetic Transgressions in Contemporary British Verbatim Theatre Verbatim theatre, a type of performance based on actual words spoken by ‘real people’, has been at the heart of a remarkable and unexpected renaissance of the genre in Great Britain since the mid-nineties. Simultaneously, contemporary British theatre-makers claimed to have found a renewed avenue to politics through this particular medium. In spite of recent shifts in the British theatrical landscape as well as the much-vaunted postmodern culture of anti-realism, documentary realism is generally conceded to have remained the normative mode of presentation for verbatim plays on stage. Through a comparative examination of seven representative verbatim productions, this dissertation argues, however, that there has been an equally persistent strand of verbatim works that involves a move away from realism as the key element in performance. These productions make use of a wide variety of aesthetic experiments that broaden and transgress what we might understand as verbatim theatre. The strategy adopted by this study is thus to read verbatim theatre against the grain of its claim to ‘authenticity’ and ‘truthfulness’ and to suggest the need for a discourse which better articulates an interdependence between its aesthetic imperatives and the possibilities of social engagement. Finally, this dissertation accounts for the existence of a range of aesthetic variables in present-day verbatim theatre which is aimed at more media-aware contemporary audiences. These are grouped into three theoretical positions, each of them being analysed and discussed in a separate part and illustrated by case studies. It is hoped that, through this argument, the changing aesthetics of verbatim theatre will be illuminated and that – on however small a scale – this doctoral dissertation will contribute to a critical history and theoretical formulation of the complexity of this rich field as both a scholarly discipline and a lived practice

Full textThis thesis aims to understand how the "digital" interrogates both the processes of legitimization and delegitimization of informationnal practices and how these processes are embedded in objects, places and devices. This work takes place within the school institution which transmits implicitly or explicitly, common standards for "good practices" of production, circulation and reception of texts, documents and knowledge. This is an ethno-semiotic study within the class and the library school’s spaces in two medium schools to observe and analyze the ways to search, read, operate, circulate and produce documents. The digital unveils the need to understand the practices and skills to qualify the information beyond canonical methods forged by mediators (citing sources, respect copyright, do not copy and paste etc.), and beyond signs of value inherited from the model of the bibliography and their fetishization in reference (publisher, author, cataloging record etc.). This thesis is based on an anthropological approach of information literacy and of digital as a social phenomenon that redefines geographies and temporalities of texts, knowledge and their documents. This approach allows to renew questions about the concept of document value. This research demonstrates the entrenchment of practices, objects and values at work in the communicational processes of knowledge sharing. Understanding today resistances of pupils to follow the rules of a « good research » requires a political theory of the economy of the document to the digital age and an anthropological approach of the common practices of texts and documents, one is feeding the other

Full textLibrarians and special librarians do not seem to be socially, economically, technically and culturally adapted to their environment. This situation is the more paradoxical and evil that at the same time the western societies are moving to an "informational era". Their practices are strongly, if not exclusively, influenced by empirism and tradition. They fail, by ignorance or neglect, to base them on theoretical foundations. They are not considered as "professionals". The effectiveness of information systems is largely discussed. Even if, at the present time, the theoretical foundations are not well established, some exist which will allow the "information specialists" to identify and call the same objects with the same words, to understand each other, to communicate with other specialists, to have a better understanding of the phenomena they consider, and so to manage them in a better way, to explain their "professional" choice, to foresee new situations, to convey this framed knowledge within "information science schools", in a word, to be real "professionals". This leads to new and enlarged theoretical researches in the fields of "information" and "communication", to a professional training and in some countries, like in france, to the gathering of all the varied "information specialists" in one single "professional group" to face new challenges

Full textThis study aims at analysing the representations and ordinary use of school librarians and students in the documentation space known as “Centre de Documentation et d’Information” (CDI) in French secondary schools. The school library is understood as a documentary space both in a physical and digital way. Its use is academic, information-related, but also social. Use and representations are studied spatially. In this dimension, the actors are seen as individuals with a spatial ability of their own, who experience the documentation space : indeed, beyond sheer visual aspects, we look into the dynamics of the space as it is said to be experienced. The methodology used is qualitative. Semi-directed interviews are carried out with school librarians and students in five middle schools. Participative photo elicitation interviews allow us to show the different visions of the documentary space that the various actors may have. The analysis of the results shows different kinds of documentation landscapes, created by both professionals and students in their everyday use

Full textSince the late 1980s, Chinese documentary films have been submitted to radical transformations, one of which is the emergence of independent productions which complement and question the official ones broadcast on Chinese televisions. The purpose of this dissertation is to evaluate Chinese independent documentary films on the background of the works and theories that helped generating them. These films testify firstly to a conceptual transformation in the history of Chinese cinema in the 1990s. Outside the official institutions for documentary film production and distribution, these films circulate in a non-official space and are appreciated in new structures that constitute the second major transformation brought by the actors of this independent movement. Finally, by using new documentary practices, this film movement presents a new documentary aesthetic, similar in certain aspects to the appearance of direct cinema in Western film history. The methods of independent filmmakers are fundamentally opposed to those of propaganda documentaries made before the 1980s, and they also assimilate the new developments of this film form to build a style based on the recording of subjective experience

Full textWith the advent of information technology, the information explosion and the resurgence of media changed the practices of users of libraries that use more digital and new communication tools. These developments within the University training interrogate us on the issue that may represent the documentary training in the needs and expectations of users for a better use of the information. Our research says around digital social media that punctuate the lives of students and which raise questions on their impacts in access to academic literature. Observed that skills to master by users are still obscured in conventional formations proposed in academic libraries that are necessary to produce a better reception of documentary and informational knowledge to interact a consumerist confinement of information. Based on a methodology with exploratory talks to a questionnaire with information, communication and documentation professionals, our study shows that this is in digital convergence that a change may occur among students. This convergence is part of formations that are moving towards digital cultures combining both education media declining the critical spirit, centered learning and technical culture which must take into account both the knowledge of the tools, but also the training tools. It is this vision of the ecology of the training that foreshadowed in our analysis and looming for academic libraries as a strong axis of anchoring in higher education around a dynamic oriented towards a digital documentary convergence. These recommendations are considered in the context of collective action within the University with real mediation between the different actors of education and training, and a central place for the University Library as the place of training for digital transversalities

Full textThis thesis analyzes the process of politicization and de-politicization of documentary films that focus on stigmatized urban areas. It is based on 42 films made between 2000 and 2010 in the neighborhoods of Centre-ville Basilique in Saint-Denis and La Joliette in Marseille. This research draws from open-focused interviews with directors and content analysis of the studied films, as well as of other promotional or theoretical productions by the same directors. This thesis aims at understanding the structure and logics of a “documentary world” which is gaining structural autonomy towards other social fields. At the intersection of the sociologies of art, cinema, journalism and politically involved professionals, this study analyses the ambiguous positioning of the filmmakers when it comes to taking a political stand in the light of their social and professional backgrounds, of the professional collaborations that develop around the making and distribution of the films, and of the structural divisions organizing the documentary world. This approach allows us to question several dimensions of documentary film making that are often taken for granted: from the creative power of the director and his/her place in the creative process, to the opposition between cinema and journalism, and the relationship between documentary and politics generally speaking. By placing professionalization mechanisms and the relationships that directors develop with filmed participants and the public at the center of the study, this work sheds new light on the process of political commitment by and through cinematographic productions

Three expertises are involved in activity, domain expertise, system expertise and information seeking expertise. Although considered as novices in these three categories, young people became regular searchers. The aim of this study is to describe youth's information seeking in context. Sixth to twelveth graders conducted two search tasks, selfgenerated or assigned, on WWW, on-line catalog or full-text electronic encyclopedia. In addition, an enquiry method is proposed, from the method of stimuled recall. It is used to analyse the activity of 15 binomials. Analysis shows that analytical strategies, query formulations and reformulations are preferred to navigation in all search tasks. When middle school and high school students assess primaries and secondaries documents and search systems, they apply about twenty relevance criteria. They use images in three phases of process, information accessing, information assessing and information extracting. The document made with copy-and-paste extracts could be use for defining information need and checking activity

Full textOur work in history didactics falls within the framework of the theory of joint action in didactics (Sensevy, 2011, Collectif Didactique pour Enseigner, 2019) and the documentary approach to didactics (Gueudet and Trouche, 2008, 2010). It focuses on the mobilization of documentary resources during the preparation and teaching of three lessons on the history of ancient Egypt, in a sixth grade class in the Central African Republic. The study first presents the usual practice of session preparation and teaching by two history-geography teachers (P1 and P2). To overcome difficulties linked to the lack of textbooks and documentary resources, the teachers' documentary work takes the form of sketching maps (for P1), and reproducing (scanning and printing in A3 format) images found in textbooks (for P2). These documents are then introduced into the lessons. They provide material support for the lessons, but don't always provide relevant signs for the students. This is why, in a second phase, we set up a joint working arrangement with another teacher (P3). The aim is to show how work carried out by both the researcher and history-geography teachers in the Central African Republic can help them overcome the difficulties they encounter in mobilizing documentary resources when preparing their teaching. To this end, we co-constructed with P3 an original session on the history of the Black Pharaohs of Egypt, based on resources downloaded from the Internet (an image of King Taharqa, Pharaoh of Egypt, and a map of the Egyptian kingdom under his reign). The co-prepared session was then implemented in class by P3. Analysis of this session reveals an epistemically rich didactic environment, despite the limited materials available. In this context, the students called on spontaneous knowledge, both of academic origin, specific to their school memory, and socio-cultural, linked to their personal life experiences, family, and ethnic tradition. Pupils mobilize this knowledge to try to meet the teacher's expectations (sometimes without producing the expected answer) and interpret the problems posed. The teacher draws on this prior knowledge to help them acquire new knowledge, through dialog-based learning games. These games lead students to investigate the relevance of their answers to the questions posed by P3, based on the documents studied. Calling on certain socio-cultural knowledge that is already present in the students'backgrounds helps them to acquire new historical knowledge

Full textThe teen years is a self-construction period : inner character and physical body are transformed. For the teenagers, this metamorphosis modifies their relationship to the world, their body and also their reading choises. In the field of reading, their practices are very different, frequently in competition with others activities. Some teenagers have broken away from the book sensed as a limiting object, despite its presence in the school environment. What kind of relationship exists between the pupils and this object ? What kind of practices and behaviours do they adopt as readers ? In keeping with the biblilogic approach (Otlet, Estivals) of the mediator and that of the anthropological phenomena of behaviours (Lévi-Strauss, Monod), the production of drawings described and analyzed through the indexing language - usually used by the information professionals - is the starting point of this research which undertakes a shift from the portrait of the reader to the reading scene. Whilst bringing significant clues and details alongside interviews, we analysed the collected informative material using an observation and interpretation table that we have specifically developed. This analysis tool constructed from specific lexicon linked with the observed practice is a way to translate the graphic language into words. The drawing, considered as a visual and sensitive method, reveals some practices, postures, attitudes, behaviours, reading rituals and perceptions. Finally, showing active subjects and with our approach supplemented by other investigation methods, drawings seems to be able to reveal a self-consciousness as reader and to act as mediator between the latter and the book

Full textThis dissertation studies the practices of montage in the photographic and filmic work of Raymond Depardon. In choosing this artist, we are recognizing not only him as one of the most important actors in the history of contemporary visuals arts, but also the capacity of his work as establishing pertinent associations between images, between images and texts (in his photography books), and between images and sound (in his films). Two introductory chapters try to present Depardon's personality and personal history (from his first experiences as a reporter to his condition as artist), and then general considerations on the subject of montage. The next chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the device of montage implemented in three of Depardon's photography books : Notes (1978), Correspondence new-yorkaise (1981) and Errance (2000). Here, we attempt to understand what is in play between images and texts, between "fields" and "counterfields", etc. We assemble a history of the "photoreport" and of its evolution towards the "journal". We also address Depardon's journeys across the world. Another chapter follows the "cinematographic paths" in Depardon, through three examples : Les Annees declic (1984), Montage (1994), and Delits flagrants (1994). It is here that the problematic elements of photography are developed in the sense of an analysis that is formal but also institutional. Depardon appears, throughout our study, as the incarnation of the figure of "the author as producer", following Walter Benjamin's ideas. Three annexes transcribe interviews carried out by three film editors that worked with Raymond Depardon

Full textThis thinking process aims at perceiving the managerial, pedagogical and communication practices introduced by the school librarians in order to create links between the material and the digital school libraries. To the end, we have proceeded with a field survey in the south east of France : 41 school librarians (39 secondary school librarians and 2 high school librarians). Our investigation is organized in two successive periods : an exporatory study followed by a semi-structured interview. The established data has been analysed « step by step », relating the important moments of the participants : those which prove the routine and those which seem unusual. We have compared the words meaning, selecting the reccuring rationales in order to define the conjonctural and particular trends in some schools, leading to a double level. The school librarians appropriate digital tools according to their needs, possibilities and resources in absence of regulatory requirements. They are also constrainted by the school libraries, real documentary spaces they depend on. The current studies are interested in the purely pedagogical or digital aspects but they rarely connect the two facets. Therefore, how may the school librarian, torn between the institutional ordinances and the particular professional necessity, offer a service that could really and efficiently respond to the needs of the users considering its general management ?

The systemic approach shows that the teacher's managements of pedagogical projects appear only when the teachers can link the new knowledges with the constructs previously built. The third part is dedicated to the representations of teachers and teachers trainers with respect to the documentary practice. The factor analysis of correspondances is used to determine different "familles" of subjects; they are structured as different combinations of three different pairs of factors : acceptance or denial of the pupil's autonomy, of his susceptibility to cultural practices and of the flexibility of the pedogogical environment. Thus significant discrepancies appear to exist between teachers and teachers trainers : they are the results of the different ways of thinking wich are combined in a training action. The fourth part proposes training prospects and methods of research resulting from previous

Full textOur work deals with the teaching practices of university mathematics professors. These concur specificities: the articulation between teaching and research is an example. We seek to characterize the research impact in the teaching practices at university. We have chosen to explore this theme through the lens of the interaction with resources for teaching graph theory. The choice of graph theory is due to the fact that it is a branch of mathematics that belongs to "contemporary" mathematics, and that is taught in a wide spectrum of university majors in Lebanon as in France. Our methodology first draws on interviews with university professors. We rely on the documentational approach, in particular the concept of the scheme of use of resources to characterize the interactions of university professors with resources issued from teaching and research. We also analyze resources designed collectively by some of the university professors interviewed using the concept of connectivity, followed by observations of sessions by a university professor, one of the designers of the resources analyzed. We have shown that a comparison of the processes of the design of resources and their implementation in class allows us to characterize the various factors that impact the practices of university professors

Full textThis study is about the evolution of third-year undergraduate psychology students' information practices. We look at the changes the digital world has brought about in students' information culture. We defend the idea that the web transforms values, representations, and practices within academic culture. We discuss this hypothesis through consideration of the document as a material form and through analysis of the editorial dimension of the document. This work confronts data obtained from interviews, with students and university professors as well as contributions to the Moodle learning Platform, and semiotic analyses of documents and websites. This research explores the notions of circulation and hybridation as applied to information practice

Full textThe transformations of the informational environment change teachers’relationship to resources, involving the development of new information, media, and digital knowledge, which are necessary to carry out their activity. However, their training takes little account of this knowledge. The goal of the thesis is to identify this knowledge as developed by the teachers themselves. It takes place at the crossroads of several fields: the documentational approach to didactics, the conceptualization in action and the information literacy. It aims at modeling what will be called the teachers’ documentational expertise, based on the identification of their documentational scheme of action and documentational scheme of use. This modeling is based on three case studies: two teachers in English and one in mathematics, followed up for two years, each of these teachers having to deal with amutation of their informational environment. The methodology is carried outaccording to the principles of reflective investigation, from which the self-recording device of the documentational work has been designed.Three research questions are considered: what are the components of thedocumentational expertise implemented in the documentational work of theteachers? What are the situations of documentational work which favor its development? What is the influence of the subject taught? A model of documentational expertise is proposed, structured by epistemic, didactic, and pedagogical knowledge affected by the discipline taught, and by informational and technological knowledge which is more generic knowledge. This study evidences thefact that situations of mutation accelerate the development of the documentational expertise thus defined

Full textThe sudden and far reaching way in which the French environment has been institutionalized in the sixties, is adequately explained by invoking a turn in the "documentary practices of aggregation". This is a term used to indicate administrative activities, consisting of the production and circulation of documents, that lead to the centralization and reformulation of knowledge about particular situations. Combining public policy analysis and the new sociology of science, the thesis emphasizes the change in such practices at datar, in the naturalist milieu, and among specialist circles in industry dealing with pollution. It also defines a specific issue and some methodological means of enabling a better description of the relations between science and the state, by following the paths of documents and changes in them, through administrative structures

Full textBased on a comparative approach of the nine constituent dioceses of the Duchy of Brittany, this study aims to explore the relationship between holders of diocesan power (bishops, chapters, archdeacons, deans) and diplomatic writing from the time of the rise of the Breton church at the end of the 10th century until the Fourth Lateran Council. A first chronological phase sees the development of writing arising from both the strengthening of episcopal power in the context of pontifical reform and the monastic expansion from the Loire Valley into Brittany. This development is very variable from one diocese to another; while most of them completely ignore diplomatic acta right up to the very end of the 11th century, others equip themselves with an organized chancery developing a real documentary policy. In the 1090’s we begin to see a movement of convergence towards more homogeneous uses of written language through the gradual assimilation by all dioceses of a model that was closely linked to Roman ecclesiastic ideals which were partly disseminated by the monks who were beneficiaries of the acta. It was only in the 1150’s, however, that written acta become a habitual tool of governance in the Breton dioceses. This evolution is accompanied by a marked increase in the standardization of terms and a strengthening of the legal and judicial dimension of the acta and sees at the same time other holders of diocesan authority beginning to issue their own charters. What this comparative approach does highlight, however, is the great disparity across Brittany, between an eastern area that is much more accustomed to writing communication and a western area where it remains more rare

Full textThe number of theatrical forms based on documentary research has increased considerably in recent years in the German-speaking world. The works explored are complex, fragmented, often characterized by a porosity between reality and fiction. This study explores how current documentary performances are rooted in reality, especially when developing new forms of participation during creative processes. Although "documentary theatre" is part of a tradition in Germany, this expression is no longer appropriate to the diversity of current documentary practices and aesthetics. Indeed, the experience is now at the heart of these practices, which are based on social exchanges, investigation and long-term process. We highlight the emergence of journalistic aesthetics, the production of a new knowledge and the displacement of politics in theatre through today's documentary practices. A central aspect of the work is to observe the relationship between practices, production methods and dramaturgies in a corpus consisting of biographical accounts. The social and aesthetic transformations generated by these practices reinvent theatricality, interrogate history and presents shifting identities

This descriptive and comprehensive research is based on the observation of activities in four secondary schools in Paris. The data is analysed according to the participants' views. It seeks out to study how school librarians, pupils and sometimes teachers, "work together " during information-oriented sessions. The study of school librarians / teachers / pupils interactions brings out the meanings of the dynamic, and the elements leading to other possible practices within this dynamic. Full textUnderstand, describe and document the information behavior of beninese lawyers in both the academic and professional fields. It is the main objective of this thesis that has chosen the positioning of informational practices in the information sciences especially in the study of users in context. This work has mobilized both theoretical and empirical studies. Four theoretical studies have been conducted to understand the legal and justice context in Benin, developments in information and communication technologies (TIC) in the legal and judicial sector, information practices in terms of models and the specific theories in the field of law. These theoretical approaches were confronted with four empirical studies, two quantitative and two qualitative. Regarding the quantitative approach, 375 students and 60 teacher-researchers from the law faculties of the universities of Benin were interviewed. As for qualitative studies, they are made up of semi-directive interviews with 35 magistrates of courts and courts in the southern part of the country and 15 lawyers in Cotonou. At the end of these studies, it is clear that Beninese lawyers in the course of their professional activities make use of information. They do it to solve legal problems. They refer in the first place to printed sources, namely books and legal works; Then to electronic sources, in this case the Internet, and finally consult their colleagues, confreres or comrades. The criteria governing these sources of information are primarily the accessibility-availability of information, the relevance-usefulness of information and the content of information. All lawyers surveyed share information but face several barriers to accessing information. Examples of such obstacles include the excessive cost of certain legal works, the instability of electric power, the breakdown of the Internet connection, the obsolete nature of certain documents

An initial survey has identified academic and sociological profiles of students who are enrolled in a program offered by the University of Strasbourg to help them succeed in their curricula. Other surveys and tests were conducted to know the information practices of these students in online learning contexts and evaluate their skills entering and exiting the program. The results show that our population does not fit the profile of student failure. Moreover, our conclusions support our hypothesis about poverty information practices in e-learning and lack of expert skills in this area despite several courses followed by these students

Full textIn the Archives municipales de Metz is now kept a collection of nearly 1500 epistolary documents dated between 1383 and 1548 related to the resolution of conflicts between the city of Metz and the neighbouring jurisdictions. But why and for what purpose did the urban authorities attach so much value to these documents, justifying their long-term preservation despite their ephemeral nature once the request set out in the letter has been resolved? It is to these questions that this thesis attempts to answer. Through a detailed analysis of this documentary collection taken as a whole, it has been possible to take a renewed look at the making of power at the end of the Middle Ages, placing at the heart of our reflection the effect of documentary practices on the construction of the legitimacy of domination in the Lorraine space of the elite groups and holder of the government of the city of Metz: the paraiges. Based on recent contributions from the anthropology of the written word and legal anthropology, we have chosen to adopt a documentary approach that consists of examining quantitatively and qualitatively the various aspects (composition, materiality, content) of the archival collection of letters (AA18-AA28). To do so, we used three software programs: Filemaker (analysis of the elements of the documentary system), TXM (textometric analysis) and QGIS (spatial data analysis). By considering the collection as a genuine “documentary system”, it was possible to reveal the links structuring all the components of the collection (original letters, translations, drafts, copies, etc.) and to propose some explanations of the medieval functions of their preservation for the urban elites of Metz. The serial analysis of the epistolary material thus brought out the legal, political and social functions attributed to the letters and the reasons for the paraiges to preserve them over the long term. More than a question of transmitting information, the letters analyzed possessed a “driving force”, since they were engaged, or even forced their recipients to take action with the aim of re-establishing social relation that had been broken or damaged by the perpetration of violent actions considered illegitimate. Inscribed in the context of the amicable procedures of conflict’s resolution resulting of the feud, the conscious choices made by the paraiges to ensure the preservation of these documents and to deal with this voluminous mass of documents are so many actions that intervene in the construction of the image they forged of themselves. The preserved letters keep the trace of an autonomous and powerful urban power, which was deeply inscribed in the complex hierarchy of the local aristocracy (urban, seigneurial or ecclesiastical). The thesis allows us to highlight certain aspects of the social domination of the paraiges that have rarely been taken into account by research and to better understand the close relationship between the written word, government, space and the construction of authority, offering a renewed perspective on the history of Metz at the end of the Middle Ages

Full textHow did the scriptural changes contribute to the re-definition the necrological documents in the late Middle Ages and their adaptation to new challenges, so as to allow the performance of their function: ensuring the salvation of the soul of the dead ? The corpus of the diocese of Strasbourg reveals that beyond appearances of tradition, necrological documents diversified, a clearer differentiation between liturgical and administrative manuscripts emerged. Within the more complex documentary network of the memoria, they played a role in the normalisation and rationalisation of liturgical and administrative practices, especially from the fifteenth century onwards. While meeting with the internal needs of religious institutions, they also participated in the reform of the Church and built an anthropological community of the living and the dead

Full textThis research examines the divergences and convergences across the histories of three national galleries, in England, Canada and the United States, providing evidence of a common model that emanates particularly from two types of institutions that appeared in England during the 17th century: public museums founded on scientific and populist principles, and private art galleries anchored in elitist traditions. The national galleries compared in this study constitute hybrids in conflict with the original antagonistic models. But their most striking similarities reside in the evolution of their respective documentation practices. The continued struggle to truly integrate technologies in the documentation of art betrays the difficult heritage between these two opposing models. Throughout the unique historical trajectories of these institutions, there was little proof that optical or digital technologies had had important repercussions on the methodologies or the philosophies of the documentation of works of art. On the contrary, it was observed that documentation, even in digital form, continued to rely on minimal standards of data gathering, restricted groups of persons trained to collect data, and limited access to any data captured. This research reinforces the need to redefine museum documentation in order to rethink its strategies and guiding philosophies, to enable new research into museum collections, and to enlarge the integration of digital technologies into the process

Full textOur questioning emerges from the establishment of a new teaching, called Scientific Methods and Practices (MPS), as part of the French high school reform in 2010. This multidisciplinary teaching, which aims to initiate pupils to a scientific approach, leds mathematics teachers to question and to change their practices. We propose to analyze these changes in terms of resources and the way teachers work on these resources. We retain two approaches: the double approach didactic and ergonomic of the teaching practices (Robert, 2010a; Rogalski, 2010) and the documentational approach of didactics (Gueudet et Trouche, 2010). Our research is conducted from observations of mathematics teachers involved in MPS and engaged in different disciplinary and multidisciplinary collectives. These observations are supplemented by interviews with colleagues in other disciplines. We also performed a study of resources available for one of the themes proposed. This study is part of the research program ReVEA (Living Resources for Teaching and Learning), supported by the ANR. Our thesis aims to show the impact of resources and lack of resources from understanding the prescribed task to the effective task, and also the impact of the different collectives in which the mathematics teacher is involved. It questions as well the effects of this work on professional development, especially regarding the inquiry-based science teaching
