Abstract:
Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between practicum and student learning outcomes in the pre-pandemic and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method applied is descriptive quantitative research which is supported by data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects are students of Biology Education, University of Borneo Tarakan. The results of data analysis showed that most of the practicums were carried out in the pre-covid-19 pandemic but only a few practicums were carried out during the pandemic with different practicum forms. This indicates the occurrence of learning loss in learning that practices science. Practicum is closely related to student learning outcomes. The relationship tends to be linear where student learning outcomes can increase in line with the quantity and quality of the practicum. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Learning Loss, Practicum

Abstract:
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching practicum has been conducted in online learning settings in Turkey, which, in return, has made pre-service English language teachers do their practicums online. The lack of research into the effect of distance teaching practicum on pre-service English language teachers’ practices of giving feedback prompted the researcher to carry out this research. This instrumental case study aims to investigate the changes in a pre-service English language teacher’s feedback giving practices in the English lessons she taught in the distance teaching practicum and her views about how the distance teaching practicum affected her skills of providing feedback. The results obtained from the analysis of the data collected from the researcher’s notes on the pre-service English language teacher’s provision of feedback in the four online lessons she taught, post-lesson telephone interviews and end-of-study semi-structured interview indicated her teaching experiences helped her make a considerable progress in her skills in giving effective feedback. The findings pointed to the significance of distance teaching practicum in developing pre-service English language teachers’ feedback giving practices.

Abstract:
The education process for science student teachers in Indonesia must continue, even in a pandemic situation with an unclear end. The research aims to find the most appropriate science practicum method during the Covid-19 pandemic for science student teachers. The method used in this research is mix-methods. The research design chosen by the researcher is the Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Participants in this study were 140 science student teachers who did distance practicum on basic biology practicum courses. Basic biology practicum is a practicum course that practices biological science, including respiration, photosynthesis, nutrient content of food, and pollutant testing. Based on gender, the participants were 62 male students and 78 female students. The value of N-Gain d > 0.58 (moderate effect) means that practicum activities can be continued as a practicum solution during the pandemic. Student activities during a practicum at home apply new adaptations different from a practicum in the laboratory. Independence in preparing materials and tools, preparing worksheets, simplifying materials, and modifying tools is a new way for students. The study concludes that a new practicum method that utilizes the environment potential is a solution in the implementation of science practicums as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The environment can be explored to find resources that can be used as practicum materials and the manufacture of basic biology practicum tools.

Abstract:
This study investigates the role of supervisory support for assisting the EFL student teachers to perform better during practicum. It also aims at identifying the barriers of effective supervision during teaching practicum. The study adopts the qualitative research design using a multiple case study. Semi-structured interviews are developed to collect data from four student teachers and their supervisors during their teaching practices at local secondary schools in Yemen. Four emerging themes are developed from the thematic analysis of the data including the supervisory support on lesson planning, teaching strategies, classroom management and the number of observations. The findings reveal that the participating student teachers received insufficient support and guidance from their panel supervisors which limit their pedagogical practices during practicum. The findings also highlight some barriers to effective supervision due to some restrictions. The study provides practical implications for EFL teacher education program administrators and developers to reconsider the supervision plan so as to contribute towards professional teaching practices at schools during practicum in Yemen.

Abstract:
Chemistry learning ideally should invite students to interact directly with the object being studied. This can be realized through a practicum in the laboratory. However, chemistry practicum still generates significant waste in the environment. There is also a need for character education to promote environmental literacy. Therefore, there is a need for a green chemistry-based practicum module for class X senior high school. This research aims to develop a green chemistry-based practicum module, to know the quality of a green chemistry-based practicum module, and to know the students' responses to environmental literacy. This a research and development using a modified Borg and Gall development model that includes information gathering, planning, product development, limited trial, and product revisions. The results of the validity of the green chemistry-based practicum module in terms of material had a percentage of 93.45% and in terms of media had a percentage of 90.00% with a very valid criterion. The use of the green chemistry-based practicum module gets a very practical criterion with a score of 86.67% based on students’ responses. The green chemistry-based practicum module effectively increases students’ learning outcomes which are marked by the n-gain value of 0.3 - 0.78 in the medium to high criteria. The value of tcount ttable and sig.(2-tailed) in three practicums 0.05 indicates that the green chemistry-based practicum module can support students' environmental literacy

Abstract:
This study aims to describe perceptions, practicum results, and students' creative thinking skills in online and offline practicums. This research is ex post facto. The subjects of this study were 70 students of the 2016 and 2017 batches of the Department of Biology Education, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The two batches experienced different treatments; the 2016 batch took offline practicums, while the 2017 batch took practicums online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The research instruments consisted of (1) student perception sheets, (2) tests, and (3) creative thinking skills assessment instruments. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using one-way ANOVA and Hotelling's T2. The study results show students' perceptions of offline and online practicum. Students tend to understand the material better in offline practicum than online, and students also think that offline practicum is more interesting than online. Other findings indicate that students find it difficult to understand procedures in online practicums compared to offline ones. In addition, students experience technical problems in offline practicums, especially those related to networks. In contrast, technical issues can be overcome in online practicums because students can consult directly with practicum assistants. Analysis of student practicum results shows no difference between offline and online practicum results from the aspects of understanding and activeness. Meanwhile, from the aspect of report value, the online practicum is better than the offline one. This study also shows that students' creative thinking skills in offline practicums are higher than online in terms of the four aspects of creative thinking and three aspects of assessment, namely data analysis, work methods, and lists of references. In general, student perceptions, practicum results and creative thinking skills in offline practicums are better than in online ones.

Abstract:
Aim. This phenomenological study probes the experiences of pre-service English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in the practicum process. Thus, this paper aims at bringing a light to the effects of practicum experiences of pre-service EFL teachers on their professional identity. Methods. Based upon a narrative identity method, this phenomenological inquiry examines the experiences of pre-service EFL teachers (N= 20) in their practicum. A one-shot question was directed to the informants with the aim of clarifying their personal constructs. Results. Practicum has got a significant role in education faculties all over the world. The theories applied in teaching practicum are quite common and universal. However, the practices utilised in practicum may show variations among education faculties. Further, the practicum content, and the characteristics of teacher candidates and supervisors may cause practicum to be carried out in diverse ways. The practicum aspect of pre-service teacher education is contemporarily given significant emphasis all around the world. Further, the exact theory of practicum and the desired outcomes of the related practices are relatively identical in education faculties throughout the world. Nonetheless, the practicum practices represent diversities among institutions. Yet, the characteristics and experiences of pre-service teachers may lead the practicum to be carried out in diverse ways in dissimilar contexts. Conclusion. The results of the study suggest that teacher candidates developed both positive and negative cognitive constructs during their practicum. Related implications are provided to overcome the problems encountered during practicum, as well as to suggest ways to develop EFL pre-service teachers’ practicum process. The aims of this study is to explore the practicum implementation in order to see barrier occurs and to suggest off possible solution to issues occur into the below specific objectives: (a) to explore form of PPL implementation from several points of view: school partners, supervisor-lecturer, and teacher-student, (b) to overview the actual work of the students in the school, viewing from workload and timing, (c) to describe supervision from school partner teacher, types of supervision and partnership pattern in the classroom. The approaches employed samples from four schools, a university and related research participants all of whom are probed for detail individual and group interview. There is also a look for document review applied for better comprehension of the practice. The selected schools are; two SMPs and two SMAs, all of which lie in Pekanbaru. Then, the university reviewed at was Universitas Islam Riau. The research sees that the currect practice is running well, however, there are few wrong doing happening on the ground that school management and PPL unit need to review about, such as workload of the students, supervision, and illegal request from schools that related to financial or non-financial. The timing of the practicum variation need some unified approached and the university need to delegate supervisor-lecturer for initial talk with schools regarding the timing, at about 2 months period. On the other hand, the preparation of the students is in need of revision in term of their self awarenes for experience-based learning. And post practicum reflection process is strongly suggested for better practice and indivdual strengthening learning process.

In Library and Information Science (LIS) courses, practicums serve as a specific bond between theory on the one hand and practical work and the profession on the other. In seeking to prepare graduates for the profession and for professional work, LIS programmes use practicums as a model to enhance the library school curriculum. During the traditional LIS practicum, one already makes use of the many advantages online tools provide, building online portfolios or keeping student work diaries online while undertaking the practical part of one’s practicum. This enables easy and constant communication among all three stakeholders: host institutions, educational institutions, and students. Whilst it is important to engage actively with industry to provide students with opportunities to participate in ‘experiential learning’ and in building practical skills and knowledge, it is also important to ensure this is done in a systematic manner, and with a genuine desire on the part of the employers for a collaborative partnership. Striking similarities regarding practicums and placements between geographically distant countries such as Australia and Slovenia, and the opinions and attitudes that all three stakeholders – students, host institutions and educational institutions – share, indicates that traditional practicums, undertaken in a physical workplace, are still a key component of an LIS education. In Library and Information Science (LIS) courses, practicums serve as a specific bond between theory onthe one hand and practical work and the profession on the other. ObjectivesThe objectives of this study are to (1) identify Graduate Public Health (GPH) programmes with an integrated practicum, (2) determine current practice for practicum design and (3) use the information to make recommendations to inform the design of Public Health Graduate programme practicums.DesignScoping review.Data sourcesAcademic Ranking World Universities 2019 was used to identify top 10 institutions in each geographical hub offering GPH programmes. Each GPH programme website was searched for practicum information.Eligibility criteriaGPH programmes offering a practice-based component as a requirement in their curriculum.Data extraction and synthesisOne reviewer screened GPH websites for eligibility and extracted data. Verification of data for accuracy and completeness was done on 10% of the sample by the second author. Data were compiled into an Excel file and were analysed to describe the duration, timing, credit, contact hours, preceptor requirements, prerequisites, objectives, deliverables and methods of evaluation of the practice-based component.ResultsOut of the 108 GPH programmes screened, a total of 35 programmes were included. There was a significant variation in required practicum duration ranging from 4 to 16 weeks. Only 31% specifically outlined prerequisites to be completed before the initiation of the practicum. More than half (57%) had a published list of core competencies. A majority of practicum did not provide criteria for appropriate preceptors (63%) and their responsibilities (66%). All programmes listed assessment criteria however the majority (57%) did not specify if the practicum was graded or a for-credit component.ConclusionsThe integration of practical components into curricula is inconsistent. This research resulted in 14 recommendations intended to guide GPH practicum design. We propose that this study be used as a tool to spark a global dialogue about best practices in GPH education through the identification of common practices and opportunities for improvement.

Abstract:
Practical activities during the covid pandemic are difficult to do because all learning has turned to online learning. So that students are required to carry out independent practicum at home, even though laboratory equipment and materials are quite expensive and difficult to obtain. A breakthrough is needed so that the practicum can still be carried out. One of them is independent practicum using simple equipment and materials. Independent practicum is implemented in basic chemistry courses during the odd semester. However, reflection on the practicum is needed to identify motivation and an opinion from student. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on students of the Chemical Education Study Program, University of Lampung. Data was collected by using a questionnaire through a Mentimeter. The results showed that (1) students were highly motivated to participate in independent practicum because it was interesting, (2) students' perception of independent practicum is very good, this is shown by the number of students who are helped in understanding the concept of chemistry after doing independent practicum, (3) the obstacle experienced by students during independent practicum is the difficulty of signaling in some areas which causes the upload of independent practicum videos to be often late. This research is relevant and can be a practical breakthrough for both lecturers and teachers who have limited laboratory equipment and materials by loosening the collecting of practicum videos.

Abstract:
The changes taking place in the schooling landscape because of the coronavirus are real and meaningful and have implications for the training of preservice teachers, especially the teaching practicum component of their initial teacher education programs. The havoc caused by COVID-19 forced many faculties of education into a state of ‘panic-gogy’ to ensure that student teachers could complete their teaching practicums. In this paper we argue that consideration should be given to core teaching practices and practice-based teacher education pedagogies (i.e., representations and approximations) that can be used in alternative “placement contexts” that will supplement and harness the authenticity of school-based experiences. We provide two conceptual tools, collaboratively developed by teaching practicum educators and mentor teachers, that can be used as heuristic by other university-school partnerships when considering teaching practicum redesign efforts.

The purpose of the design and application of the ATMEGA8535 microcontroller system simulation circuit is minimize the damage of the practicum module, helping students improve their understanding of practicum goals through maximum frequency of practices. Every year damage the practicum module avr8535 increased. Based on the analysis, the damage of this module is mostly caused by the damage of the main component, namely the IC ATMEGA8535. This happen because a maximum of program downloading to the IC ATMEGA8535 is 1000 times and this ability can even be less if the operation procedure of the module is incorrect. This simulation software utilizes the facilities contained in the proteus software. The steps to make this simulation circuit are doing the needs analysis, designed the basic circuit, ouput circuit, input circuit, and ADC circuit. The test results show all units of the circuit can run according to the practicum module. This simulation circuit has been implemented in microcontroller practicum activities and interfacing as companion software. There was a decrease in module damage of 57.60% after the implementation of simulation circuit. With this simulation software programs that have been created can be loaded first into a simulations circuit, so they can extend the life time of the practicum module and can help lecturers in developing lecture material and maximize the understanding of learning for students through practical activities.

Abstract:
This study gathered data from Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs) in preparation for teaching practicum at a university in Indonesia. The study utilized a qualitative approach to comprehend the current practices in preparing participants of the teaching practicum and identifying the essential aspects needed to be addressed by research participants (PSTs, Practicum Supervisors, and Classroom Supervisors). The study found several courses that have helped PSTs in scaffolding their journey toward their practicum, including curriculum and material development, micro-teaching, and practicum orientation. However, as PSTs conduct their practicum, the dynamic and challenges were inevitably evident throughout the journey. The skills and knowledge they have studied have not been able to be fully utilized in the teaching practicum. These are reflected in their responses related to their confidence handling classroom management, language skills, identifying their role as practicum teacher, and the effectiveness of the current practice of classroom observation. The study concludes the importance of adjusting and reflecting on relevant aspects and knowledge that need to be integrated into the preparation of the teaching practicum. A systematic and continual innovation will need to be the focus of stakeholders in the teacher education prior to the teaching practicum.

Abstract:
Practical activities are a series of activities carried out to apply skills or practice something that requires practical tools in its implementation. The purpose of using practical tools is to meet the needs of practitioners in carrying out a process. One of the physics concepts that can be explained through practical activities is calorimetry. Specific heat is one of the observations made during the practicum using a calorimeter. The specific heat of the material is usually measured using a coffee-cup calorimeter manually. The obstacle faced by the practitioner during the calorimetry practicum is that the measurement of the dependent variables takes up the time and attention of the practitioner in the implementation of the practicum. The objectives of this research are (1) to design an Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (2) explain the work system of the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (3) measuring the amount of heat on the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (4) comparing the effectiveness of the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool with the coffee-cup calorimeter practicum tool. This study uses a type of research and development (Research and Development) with a Nieveen design conducted in the Laboratory of Physics Education Study FKIP Jember University. Nieveen's design research procedures include Preliminary Research, Prototyping Stage, and Assessment Stage (summative evaluation). Based on the results of data analysis, there is a very strong relationship between the data from the measurement results of the design of the tool and the data from the results of the measuring instruments that have been standardized. The results of the measurement of the specific heat of the material using the design of the tool indicate a conformity with the previous theoretical study.
