Price, Danielle Nicole. "Spatial Cognition among Montana Eleventh and Twelfth Grade Agricultural Education Students." Thesis, Montana State University, 2004. http://etd.lib.montana.edu/etd/2004/price/PriceD04.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine high school student's spatial cognition abilities to identify features and attributes in agriculture production images, projected in two-dimension (2D) or three-dimension (3D). The effects of selected demographics on spatial cognition were examined. The population consisted of 101 high school students from selected secondary agricultural education programs during the Fall Semester of 2003. Criteria for participation were that the class size be 10-15 students enrolled in 11th or 12th grade. The agricultural classes were randomly assigned as either participating in the 2D or 3D study. When viewing 2D and 3D images of production agriculture students were able to correctly identify features and attributes about 50 percent of the time. Based on the 17 multiple-choice questions of the 23 questions used, there was no significant difference in students' spatial cognitive abilities when viewing 2D and 3D production agriculture images. When viewing production agriculture images in 3D, containing features and attributes relative to elevation, spatial cognition was enhanced. Age, grade level, semesters enrolled in agricultural education, gender, place of residence and prior GIS experience did not enhance spatial cognition.

Higgs, Helen. "Price and volatility relationships in the Australian electricity market." Queensland University of Technology, 2006. http://eprints.qut.edu.au/16404/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis presents a collection of papers that has been published, accepted or submitted for publication. They assess price, volatility and market relationships in the five regional electricity markets in the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM): namely, New South Wales (NSW), Queensland (QLD), South Australia (SA), the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme (SNO) and Victoria (VIC). The transmission networks that link regional systems via interconnectors across the eastern states have played an important role in the connection of the regional markets into an efficient national electricity market. During peak periods, the interconnectors become congested and the NEM separates into its regions, promoting price differences across the market and exacerbating reliability problems in regional utilities. This thesis is motivated in part by the fact that assessment of these prices and volatility within and between regional markets allows for better forecasts by electricity producers, transmitters and retailers and the efficient distribution of energy on a national level. The first two papers explore whether the lagged price and volatility information flows of the connected spot electricity markets can be used to forecast the pricing behaviour of individual markets. A multivariate generalised autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (MGARCH) model is used to identify the source and magnitude of price and volatility spillovers within (intra-relationship) and across (inter-relationship) the various spot markets. The results show evidence of the fact that prices in one market can be explained by their own price lagged one-period and are independent of lagged spot prices of any other markets when daily data is employed. This implies that the regional spot electricity markets are not fully integrated. However, there is also evidence of a large number of significant ownvolatility and cross-volatility spillovers in all five markets indicating that shocks in some markets will affect price volatility in others. Similar conclusions are obtained when the daily data are disaggregated into peak and off-peak periods, suggesting that the spot electricity markets are still rather isolated. These results inspired the research underlying the third paper of the thesis on modelling the dynamics of spot electricity prices in each regional market. A family of generalised autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH), RiskMetrics, normal Asymmetric Power ARCH (APARCH), Student APARCH and skewed Student APARCH is used to model the time-varying variance in prices with the inclusion of news arrival as proxied by the contemporaneous volume of demand, time-of-day, day-of-week and month-of-year effects as exogenous explanatory variables. The important contribution in this paper lies in the use of two latter methodologies, namely, the Student APARCH and skewed Student APARCH which take account of the skewness and fat tailed characteristics of the electricity spot price series. The results indicate significant innovation spillovers (ARCH effects) and volatility spillovers (GARCH effects) in the conditional standard deviation equation, even with market and calendar effects included. Intraday prices also exhibit significant asymmetric responses of volatility to the flow of information (that is, positive shocks or good news are associated with higher volatility than negative shocks or bad news). The fourth research paper attempts to capture salient feature of price hikes or spikes in wholesale electricity markets. The results show that electricity prices exhibit stronger mean-reversion after a price spike than the mean-reversion in the normal period, suggesting the electricity price quickly returns from some extreme position (such as a price spike) to equilibrium; this is, extreme price spikes are shortlived. Mean-reversion can be measured in a separate regime from the normal regime using Markov probability transition to identify the different regimes. The fifth and final paper investigates whether interstate/regional trade has enhanced the efficiency of each spot electricity market. Multiple variance ratio tests are used to determine if Australian spot electricity markets follow a random walk; that is, if they are informationally efficient. The results indicate that despite the presence of a national market only the Victorian market during the off-peak period is informationally (or market) efficient and follows a random walk. This thesis makes a significant contribution in estimating the volatility and the efficiency of the wholesale electricity prices by employing four advanced time series techniques that have not been previously explored in the Australian context. An understanding of the modelling and forecastability of electricity spot price volatility across and within the Australian spot markets is vital for generators, distributors and market regulators. Such an understanding influences the pricing of derivative contracts traded on the electricity markets and enables market participants to better manage their financial risks.

Tyft, Rasmus. "Servicelandskapets påverkan på studenters konsumentbeteende : Undersökning inom mobilabonnemangsbranschen." Thesis, Karlstads universitet, Handelshögskolan, 2017. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kau:diva-57037.

Full text
Abstract:
I slutsatsen redogjordes uppsatsens viktigaste konklusioner.
In the introduction and problem discussion the thesis background was explained, which was, try to discover if servicescape influence students’ consumer behaviour. The line of business that were chosen was the Swedish cellphone subscription business, the specific line of business was chosen because it seemingly had two different positioning strategies. One strategy that tries to achieve higher service quality, mainly through servicescape in the shape of physical stores, though with a higher price. The other strategy focuses on lower prices, though without any existing servicescape, all communication expect marketing happens through the internet or phone. The orientation of the thesis seemed interesting because no earlier research was found that have tried to find connections between servicescapes influence and the consumer segment students. The purpose of the thesis was to find if the servicescape in cellphone subscription businesses have a significant role in students´ consumer behaviour. To find conclusions about their consumer behaviour, a generalization of students’ value perception was needed, because the value perception is considered crucial in the consumers’ choice of service. To be able to get answers regarding students’ value perception two questions were formulated. (1) Do servicescape give students increased perceived service quality in the cellphone subscription business? (2) Is the cellphone subscription business a price sensitive market for students? The questions are about the two underlying factors to perceived value, these are perceived quality and perceived price that the consumers use to create their value perception In the theory chapter, the theoretical framework was created. First part of the theoretical framework immerses in the concepts service experience and servicescape, both concepts are seemingly strongly connected to each other. Second part immerses in consumer behaviour and consumer behaviour of students. In the method, the research structure is pinned down and how the surveys achieved results to answer the questions formulations. The research were quantitative inspired studies that the respondents answered through web-based surveys. In the result chapter, the results from the questions of the surveys are revealed. In the analysis, the results from the surveys is disambiguated and discussed. In the analysis, it becomes clear that it´s not possible to easily make a generalization, because each of the respondents’ individuality. In the conclusion, the most important findings of the thesis are presented. Which are, even though there are clear indications that students’ consumer behaviour is affected by the servicescape, it´s still not enough to confirm an answer to the purpose. Because, the respondents’ individuality makes a generalization of the entire consumer segment students not reliable enough.

Date: May 30, 2011 Program: MIMA – International Marketing Course name: Master Thesis (EFO 705) Title: Consumer behavior towards private label brands: A study of  Thai undergraduate students' experience Method: Both quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Quantitative method was used to collect the primary data for this research. Moreover, qualitative method was also used to support the results from questionnaires. Conclusion: The research attempts to examine the different factors that influence consumers' purchasing intentions of private label brands among Thai undergraduate students. Five important factors were identified; there are collectivist culture, perceived risk, price, quality and store loyalty. Collectivist culture and perceived risk were found out to be important background factors which affect the other three factors. Furthermore, the result shows that price and quality of private label brands are highly related as most of the target consumers tend to associate expensiveness with high quality and vice-versa. However, the effect of store loyalty on consumers' (Thai undergraduate students)purchasing intention was found out to be insignificant.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: Share price recommendations are a common feature in the financial media. At the same time the financial theories argue that an asset can't systematically be over- or under valued. In spite of this, former studies show that share price recommendations do influence the financial market since the trade increases after an announcement. This means that the financial knowledge the student obtain during its education won’t matter when he or she chooses to follow a share price recommendation. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate which factors influence students’ opinions about share price recommendations, and how big effect the students’ business education has on that opinion. Theory: The frame of reference will give the reader a deeper knowledge beyond the theory and also theoretical perspectives essential for analysing the study. The frame of reference will consist of asset pricing, the effective market hypothesis, behavioural finance, cultural influences, educational influences as well as the schools backgrounds. Methodology: For best being able to answer to the purpose of this study, an explanatory survey investigation with a quantitative method is being made. The study will be investigated through an electronic questionnaire that will be sent to students. Empirical findings: The empirical material consits of the answers of students from four different business educations. Conclusions: The business educations affect the students’ opinion about share price recommendations in differing ways. The influencing factors are whether the student believes in effective market hypothesis, the students’ personal interest in finance, gender, risk appetite, theoretical knowledge, and culture.

Lee, Wai-Fong Tang. "Effects of tuition increases on community college enrollments in the state of Washington: A student price response study." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1991. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/185438.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate how changes in tuition and fees affect community college enrollment patterns in the state of Washington, and to identify other key factors that have major effects on enrollment changes. Several enrollment categories were selected for analysis: Total headcount, FTE, first-time freshmen, minority students, full-time and part-time attendance, two age groups, gender, and academic and vocational programs. The theoretical framework was derived from demand theory in microeconomics, with particular application of the concepts of price elasticity and of the demand function. Eight independent variables were examined, including tuition prices, student aid, socioeconomic factors, and a State enrollment cap. The results were based on a time-series analysis of system-wide data from 1971-1987. The major findings were that (1) own-tuition price was associated negatively with all categories of enrollment, except for academic programs; (2) tuition and fees at public four-year institutions had positive effects on community college enrollments; (3) student aid was a key factor and related to enrollment negatively, suggesting that public four-year institutions were substitutes for community colleges; (4) personal income was a stronger economic indicator than unemployment for most of the enrollment categories; (5) the proportion of whites in the population had different effects on different enrollment groups; and (6) the enrollment cap caused a substantial reduction in most of the enrollment categories. Different types of students responded differently to price changes and other factors. In general, older students, part-timers, females, and minority students were more sensitive to tuition price changes than younger, male, and full-time students. Overall, the results of the study were consistent with previous enrollment demand studies of community colleges.

Saxon, Randall J. "An Assessment of the Use of Student Price Response Models to Predict Changes in Undergraduate Enrollment at a Metropolitan University." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2004. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc4653/.

Full text
Abstract:
Most colleges and universities invest substantial resources in an effort to strategically plan for a sound financial base. The revenue for the financial base is dependent on student enrollment that must be effectively managed. Increases in the price of tuition and fees can lead to decreased enrollment and negatively impact the revenue of an institution. The increases can also impact the enrollment of certain student populations such as minority students and high school graduates enrolling in college for the first time. Many studies have analyzed the price elasticity and student price response models that have been developed over time by reviewing historical price increases and enrollment across institutions. Few studies have used the models to predict changes in the enrollment of students for one college or university after the increases in the cost of attendance are imposed on students. This study sought to analyze the effectiveness of the most commonly reviewed student price response and price elasticity models in predicting changes in undergraduate enrollment at one metropolitan academic university. The three models introduced by Leslie and Brinkman, St. John and Heller were used to analyze the tuition and fee increases and to identify the likely percentage of increase or decrease in student enrollment at the University of North Texas for the fall 2004 semester. The study predicted the change in undergraduate enrollment among Caucasian, Hispanic, African American and Asian student populations. The price elasticity among full-time students, part-time students, undergraduate transfer students and new from high school students entering the University of North Texas were also analyzed in the research study. The results of the study found the student price response developed by Heller accurately predicted decreases in enrollment among first-time undergraduate students, continuing undergraduate students and undergraduate Caucasian students. The model introduced by Heller accurately predicted increases in enrollment among first-time Asian undergraduate students, first-time African American undergraduate students, continuing Asian undergraduate students and continuing African American undergraduate students. The study found an inelastic demand to price elasticity among full-time and part-time students and undergraduate transfer students. New from high school students were found to have an elastic demand to price elasticity.

Full text
Abstract:
In Germany, many universities have student tickets that are bargained for between student representatives and public transport companies, approved by referendum, and mandatory for all students. They allow the use of public transport at no additional cost. I analyze such a scenario in a theoretical model as an example of a flat-rate ticket for public transport which is implemented by majority decision. The mandatory character of the ticket reduces transaction costs like marketing and ticket inspection, reducing the ticket price and thus the students’ commuting expenses. However, there is a countervailing effect. Students face and rationally expect zero marginal monetary commuting costs, so that new students choose a place of residence which is relatively far from the university. This in turn raises the equilibrium ticket price. It may even be the case that students would be better off if such a ticket had never existed. Nonetheless, they always vote for it in referenda, because accepting the high price is optimal given their place of residence. After laying out the model, I analyze an optimal policy, which consists, for example, of subsidizing student dorms at an efficient distance to the city center.

Abstract:

To address the issues of affordability and student persistence through graduation, some institutions of higher education have embraced the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) program. The fact that several of these institutions have subsequently shown improvements in affordability and student retention suggests that other colleges and universities that have adopted the Baldrige framework or a Baldrige style approach to institutional management may also be making improvements in the same institutional outcomes. However, to date, little research has been conducted to measure whether these institutions are improving in affordability and retention. To help close this gap in research, the present study investigated to what extent participating in a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) based program improves affordability and degree completion. The study’s four research questions asked whether an institution’s participation in a MBNQA-based program was associated with the institution’s first-year, full-time, degree/credential-seeking undergraduate students’ (a) net enrollment cost, (b) student debt, (c) the likelihood of degree completion, and (d) the institution’s educational expense per degree.

Data for the period 2000 to 2013 were gathered for 870 colleges and universities accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Of these institutions, 167 AQIP/Baldrige-participating institutions were compared by regression analysis to 703 non-participating institutions concerning several dependent variables related to student costs or student retention and graduation.

After controlling for year, institutional characteristics, and student demographics, results indicated that an institution’s participation in a MBNQA based program was associated with lower in-state tuition and fees (-$187), decreased student first-year student retention (-1.1%), increased student persistence (.9%), and decreased 150% graduation rates (-2.1%) or students graduating on or before 3yrs for 2-year intuitions and 4yrs for 4-year institutions. However, MBNQA based program participation was not statistically significantly associated with out-of-state tuition and fees, percentage of students receiving loans, average student loan amount, and institutional expense per degree.

Bryant, Angela V. "A Case Study for Georgia Southwestern State University: The Discrepancies' of Financial Aid Services that Impact Student Enrollment." ScholarWorks, 2016. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/2396.

Full text
Abstract:
At many traditional universities, the federal timelines for determining financial aid eligibility is based on releasing of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid each January, and the subsequent financial aid processing cycle July 1- June 30th. These federally established dates can conflict with traditional August class starts and creates a backlog and delayed processing of information that, in turn, hinders students from receiving timely information in order to make informed decisions based on financial aid awards. The purpose of this case study of a traditional university in Georgia was to apply net price theory and rational choice theory to evaluate the impact of timeline conflicts and how students make decisions about which institution to attend. Data consisted of internal documents, including the results of a prior survey of 425 freshmen, and 13 alumni focus group and survey participants. All data were inductively coded and analyzed using a constant comparative method to reveal key themes. Key findings indicated decision making by prospective students largely focused on accurate and timely communication and cost of attendance. One discrepant area was the decision maker's ability to differentiate between cost of attendance and net price which impacted some student decisions to enroll. The findings are consistent with both net price and rational choice theory. Recommendations to university leaders include encouraging early communication to prospective students and retraining efforts for financial aid staff in order to meet regulatory demands and timelines, increase student enrollment, and reduce anxieties for potential students and families associated with the financial aid process. These outcomes enhance social change by potentially opening doors to higher education for new generations of students.

Full text
Abstract:
Background: The concept of value perception is widely discussed in scientific literature and it is well-known, that channels deliver value to the customer. However, so far there has been no research about the efficiency of channels, especially the consumer´s perception of channel efficiency. Therefore, this study contributes to the current literature in channel management and it fills an existing research gap. The authors establish a definition of the term 'channel efficiency' and they develop a measuring instrument. For this thesis, the three criteria (1) shopping enjoyment, (2) interpersonal service quality and (3) price level are taken into consideration for the efficiency calculation. The two channels of interest are physical retail stores and the Internet. The target group is university students. Purpose: To measure and compare the efficiency of the channels 'physical retail store' and 'Internet' from the consumer´s view and thus, to find general patterns of rated channel efficiency. This will be achieved by investigating the individual channel value perception of certain channel specific criteria and by exploring the respective relevance of these criteria.   Research Questions: 1. What is the general channel efficiency of the channel physical retail store? 2. What is the general channel efficiency of the channel Internet? Method: A quantitative study in form of an online questionnaire has been conducted with German and Swedish students. 1 995 persons participated in the survey. The analysis has been carried out by using the computer software SPSS. Thus, the collected data could be edited with respect to the verification of the proposed hypotheses, the calculation and comparison of the respective channel efficiencies and additionally, the identification of patterns for gender and age groups. Research findings: The analysis of the collected data has shown that the three regarded criteria are of diverse importance and they are perceived differently for the channels physical retail stores and the Internet. Hence, the efficiency of those two channels is also unequal; physical retail stores reach a mean value of 46.8% and the Internet in turn achieves an average of 43.1%. This shows that both channels hold potential for improvement. When looking at patterns between gender and age groups, the authors could also identify interesting differentiations.

Abstract:
Background      Catering to customer needs and wants by, at the same time, reaping maximum profits has, since the beginning of trade, been a tricky task for companies. Customer-segment pricing, i.e. offering lower prices to different target group segments, and its retail manifestation, student discounts, cater to students’ budgetary constraints, serving not only their particular needs but in return offering the company the possibility to reap long term profits from loyal students. High levels of price sensitivity among students provide companies a welcome point of action to address students and make them both attitudinal and behavioural loyal customers by means of financial incentives. The Mecenat card grants students access to those discounts – but does it help to make them loyal? Purpose            The purpose of this thesis lies in the exploration and description of a potential relationship between customer-segment pricing, i.e. student discounts and the formation of student loyalty. This exploration shall further be accompanied by a thorough analysis of the Mecenat card as a loyalty program and its ability to evoke student loyalty within the student body of Jönköping International Business School. Method             The research interest was served best by conducting qualitative prior to quantitative research. The focus groups allowed for a first insight into the topic and students’ opinions. These findings were then described by means of content analysis and further processed in quantitative research. An electronic survey was used to collect data from a sample drawn out of the total population of JIBS students. The data then was processed by means of descriptives, correlations, T-tests and factor analysis. Conclusion        Students at JIBS are a highly profitable customer segment, willing to be both attitudinal and behavioural loyal to stores that cater to their budgetary constraints by offering student discounts. The Mecenat card, however, due to low awareness and usage levels within the student body does not facili-tate, but rather hinders, the development of student loyalty. Thus, the find-ings were also processed into managerial implications that could help im-prove the service, such as improvements in communication

Abstract:
The main theme of this thesis is the influence of stress factors on the students at the Medical Social Science Faculty. Stress is a very broad theme and has a wide range of effects on the students. It can affect every part of our life. If we truly want to understand its influence on students Medical Social Science Faculty we first have to find its origin. In the theory part we find that a lot of authors agree that stress originates in us, it is in us, it comes from us and that we create it within ourselves. This diagnosis, however, is not satisfactory because there are great differences between the ways people create their own stress. We go on to find out what influences we tend to follow in creating behavioral patterns, as a nation, family or as individuals. These influences we regard as true and indiscriminately use as guidelines for our day to day lives. We find that from our early years we develop a view of the world around us using different mechanisms. One sees a glass half full and another half empty. So, also each one of us deals with problems and stressful situations in various different ways. We find different opinions on how to deal with the wrong influences and patterns in our lives. We realize that anyone, if they want and believe, can completely change beyond recognition and be happy. We also find that happiness is closely connected with the spiritual. The practical part of this thesis is done in the form of deep interviews with the students Medical Social Science Faculty. To my surprise the students were very open to these interviews. The thesis describes the stress factors on the students. I find that the field of stress factors is very wide and the students often have trouble dealing with it. Because they don?t know the principles, functions of stress and methods of how to work on themselves and how to get rid of it, they often seem to negatively influence its effects. Thanks to acquiring a deeper understanding of the subject, the obtained information can serve as a basis for improving the quality of education and the students? life. It can also be used for further research in the area of stress and its complications. I hope that my thesis will be an inspiration for others like myself who are trying to deal with stress and the problems and difficulties of student life and that it will encourage and help guide them in dealing with everyday life.

Abstract:
The main instrument of improving the social work education in the Czech Republic is the guideline The Minimum Standards of Education in Social Work issued by the Association of Educators in Social Work. According to this Standard, a student of social work, as a future social worker, shall have not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge which include professional practical training and supervision. It is also essential to become aware of the fact that a student, as a future social worker, will bear the responsibility when helping people in difficulties. Therefore, the school should ensure that any information a student receives during his/her study, is supplied to him/her in a seizable form. That is why it is important that the school provides its students with a supervision which is to improve the quality of their professional preparation, offer them insight in social worker profession and help them solve not only any divergences a student can see between theory and practice. The aim of the Dissertation is to seek higher-education supervisors´ and students´ views of the supervision implemented as a part of future social workers´ studies. Two research questions have been raised within the Dissertation. How do the students future social workers perceive the supervision which is implemented as a part of studies? What do supervisors consider as the purpose of supervision (which is realised as a part of studies) for students future social workers? The necessary information for the elaboration of the Dissertation were acquired through qualitative research. Interviewing and a semi-structured dialogue technique were chosen as the most suitable data collection method. Two research groups were chosen for the needs of the Dissertation. The first group consists of highest-class students in the field of social work at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences and Faculty of Theology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The other research group consists of supervisors operating at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences and Faculty of Theology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The research showed that students perceive supervision as useful and purposeful. Students appreciate the possibility of exchanging their experience. Differences appeared regarding the duration of the supervision session. Students mostly do not know what to talk about during supervision. Greater part of the students has not a problem to confide to a supervisor, but shortcomings were also found in this respect. Regarding the supervisors of professional practical training, in their opinion, the purpose of supervision is especially to educate students, improve students' knowledge, interconnect the theory and the practice, support students in the course of their professional practical training and give students the opportunity to reflect their own practical experience. There was also raised an idea to establish supervision directly in workplaces, where students exercise their professional practical training. The Dissertation may serve as a feedback for supervisors and as an educational material for students. It can also be used to obtain a more comprehensive picture of functioning of school supervisions of professional practical training that takes place in universities.

Abstract:
The present thesis is concerned with the ideas that social work students have of their future profession. The theoretical part defines and characterizes social work, its mission, objectives and methods. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the history of education of social workers in the Czech Republic, where it examines in detail the beginnings of this type of education, areas of work of social workers and the development of social work in connection with education from the World War Two to the present. The following chapter is engaged in the education system regarding social work at present. The last chapter looks at social work as a profession. This chapter further depicts and defines ancillary professions, identifying areas of self-realisation of graduates from social work studies, and finally, it describes ethics in social work. The objective of our thesis is to ascertain the ideas of social work students of their future profession, for example, the thesis identifies the kind of workplaces such students would prefer to work at, the target group they would be interested in, and, in point of fact, if such students want to find thein jobs within the field of their study. The practical part uses the quantitative research method, which was conducted by means of a questionnaire technique. The research group consisted of social work students at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies and Theological Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The research based on questionnaires was carried out both in Bachelor's and Master's study programmes. Only full-time students participated in the research. Pre-research was conducted before the research per se. The following hypothesis was set forth: ,,Students of social work want to work within their field of study." The above hypothesis was tested statistically by means of non-parametric testing in the SPSS programme. McNemar's test was used, which proved that the values ,,he/she wants to work within their field of study" and ,,he/she does not want to work within their field of study" do not show significant mutual differences and their probability is the same. Based on the test, a sufficient difference was identified between the resulting signification at the significance level of 0,5; accordingly, the zero hypothesis ,,Students of social work do not want to work within their field of study" was declined, and the hypothesis set forth was confirmed. The findings imply that students have different plans as to their future professions. In particular, this regards workplaces and target groups with which students would like to work, and the query if students want to work within their field of study. For most part, students want to work in the state administration, in nongovernmental non-profit organizations, and chiefly with children. In addition, a part of students emerged that do not wish to find their jobs within the discipline they currently study. Other considerable differences were identified in particular categories that were examined regarding the aspect of student's willingness or unwillingness to work as social workers, the reasons why they want or do not want to work within thein fields of study, practice in the social area (outside their school practice), search for a job during studies, and the key activities of social workers. These differences are further described in the discussion part. The conclusion gives a description of the research findings and assesses the complex problems of ideas that social work students have as regards their future profession; in particular, the problematic self-realisation of this group in the employment market. The author outlines possible solutions to these problems. Moreover, other issues related to the theme discussed are considered. Options of possible utilization of the present thesis are delineated towards the end of the thesis.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis builds on results of national and international surveys of mathematical and natural science literacy of pupils. A collection of newly conceived experimental and laboratory tasks has been proposed. The chosen approach consists on heuristic exploration of physical patterns and rules in a virtual environment. In the theoretical part, the problems of using electronic media in education are discussed and several views on the motivation of pupils which affects it are summarized. The learning process and also participation of sensory perception on this are described. In the practical part, the pupils' opinions on the using of ICT in physics learning are surveyed and the selected virtual environment and methodology for the creating of worksheets are described. Further on, the analysis of a case study of the pilot verification of problems has been carried out. The final evaluation of the study has also been performed.

Abstract:
The thesis is focused on four levels of the Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE). The first chapter describes IBSE in detail and also highlights the studies focused on the efficiency of IBSE. Pendulum and hydrostatic pressure experiments worksheets were created on the four levels of IBSE. A questionnaire reflecting some aspects of students' personalities were created and students were split into groups according to their answers. Another questionnaire about experiments and understanding of the physical phenomena was created. The central theme of this thesis focuses on the students' activities while they were working on the created worksheets. First year students from high school experimented following the created worksheets and they were recorded on the video during their work. We used codes to describe and differentiate the activities in the videos and we studied their distribution afterwards. From the recordings we then obtained information about the students' activities during experimentation at different levels of IBSE.

Abstract:
Self-reflection is an integral part of student?s training, including practical training. Self-reflection can be seen as a professional development and also as a development of personality. The aim was to characterize the reflection of social work students within the linking theory and professional practice. In the theoretical part of this diploma, author focuses on the concept of self-reflection, reflection and self-knowledge. Author also briefly describes social work, skills required for the performance of social work and the importance of appropriate professional experience. Author deals with how theoretical knowledge and practical experience can be connected and how personal experience can be reflected. In subsequent chapters is described supervision as one of its goals is self-reflection. The focus is mainly on auto-supervision and development supervision. In the last chapter author tries to outline the impact of ethics, rules and their dilemmas that affect social work. In the research part is set the main objective: "To characterize the reflection of social work students within the linking theory and professional practice." Author also sets two partial objectives: "To determine the nature of reflection of social work students in relation to the length of study." And: "To identify the extent of students' use of reflection during their professional practice." To fulfill the objectives method of qualitative research technique with half standardized interview was chosen. The interview had structure of broadly worded questions that pointed to the knowledge of the problem. The research group consists of students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies who completed Bachelor and subsequent Master study in the discipline of Rehabilitation ? psychosocial care for handicapped children, adults and seniors. The character of reflection in relation to length of study and level of use of reflection is defined in the proposed hypotheses. The gained finding can be used to improve students' self-reflection and the development of social work professional practice.
