Gaillard, Ludovic. "Modélisation rhétorique pour la publication de discours multimédias : applications audiovisuelles." Compiègne, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008COMP1783.
Full textOur work propose a device for assisting the authoring process of multimedias discourses based on previously annotated audiovisual archives. This approach focus on assistance of the author. The SAPHIR project (Système dAssistance à la Publication Hypermédia guidée par les Intentions Rhétoriques) aims to build an editorial framework allowing an expert of content, but novice in multimedia audiovisual editing tools, easily create document based on audiovisual archive. Our approach use modeling based on rhetoric to examine the differents components from intentions to the final multimedia document. We make difference between the logic intentions and the discursive arrangement of materials. Each dimension of editing task (logic component, discourses arrangement component and layout component) is a step in the publication process. All of these proposals is available in an effective framework. Contribution can be summarized in models and instrumentation based on abstraction of discourses structures called intentions in a way to create audiovisual media document

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to establish a number of concept needed for the analysis of persuasive texts. The issue of persuasion is placed within the theorical and epistemological framework of Interpretative Semantics. Semantics and Rhetoric are closely associated, since we seek to articulate questions of meaning Interpretative Semantics) with those of persuasion (Rhetoric). We consider that it is possible to recast the different aspects of Rhetoric within a semantic conception of textual products. We attempt to integrate the concepts issuing from Rhetoric into Interpretative Semantics, by adapting them to and articulating them with the concepts associated with text semantics. The study deals with advertising and political texts. Through close analysis of these texts, the relevant persuasive strategies and procedures are pinpointed

Full textReading is the process by which the literary work, being essentially of a fictional nature, is assimilated into the reality of the reader's existance. The aim of the study of reading is thus to describe the way in which the "world" of the text reacts with the "world" of the reader. To this effect, two different approaches will be employed. The first consists in the rhetorical analysis of literary language. Its task is to distinguish the narrative stratagies adopted in order to attract, sollicit and otherwise gain the confidence of the reader. Rhetoric refers to the way in which literary language attains, at least from the reader's point of view, the appearance of truth. The second approach, which we will call hermeneutic, concerns the different possibilities of interpretation which arise in respect to the given work. Hermeneutics aims to discover, over and above the question of meaning, the factors which affect the understanding of the work and its incorporation into thepractical sphere of experience. This particular view of reading provides the basis for a methodological approach to literary texts. Works of five different authors (nerval, claude simon, giono, leiris and blanchot) will thus be examined from a rhetorical and hermeneutic viewpoint. Throughout, the problem of reading is posed in terms of time. The temporal dimension of reading determines the projection of aesthetic experience beyond the limits of the text, towards a reality which must be continually reconstructed
Nzamickale, Damien. "L’art oratoire chez les Bapunu du Gabon : pour une rhétorique interactionnelle." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012LYO20009.
Full textIn ritualized encounters of the Bapunu in Gabon, there is no doubt that speech is always a communicative event. This dissertation deals with two types of speech events – traditional weddings and customary trials. In these two different though related events, the author gives evidence of a very specific interactional rhetoric. He shows that punu oratory presents aspects of dialogue and aspects of monologue all at the same time. In fact, each orator comes to take the « speechfloor » in order to answer other orator’s contradictions. But these dual contributions to the interaction are intrinsically tirades where argumentation is displayed, and some rhetoric processes are designed to seek the public’s reaction. On the whole, the demonstration leads us to a comprehensive and insightful approach to Punu oratory
Boulay, Bérenger. "Poétique et rhétorique du récit historiographique : pour un nouveau discours de l’Histoire." Paris 8, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA083417.
Full textThis study constitutes a prelude to a New Discourse on History and aims at defining the categories of a theory of the forms and genres of historical writing by expanding and examining Roland Barthes’ proposals in his “Discourse of History”. While adopting Barthes’ approach, this study does not leave out the criticism often targeted at semiotics, structuralism and formalism. Though it mainly focuses on the formal properties of the texts written by historians, this morphological and narratological study is nonetheless intent on accounting for the ways these texts refer to the real world, which is one of their chief characteristics. Hence the title of this work whose translation is rather tricky since Barthes’ article “Le discours de l’histoire” can be both understood as “Discourse of History” (which is the official translation in English) and “Discourse on History”. By choosing to add the adjective “new” to Barthes’ title, a choice which constrains us to swap prepositions, our aim is to emphasize the difference between his approach and ours. From narrative poetics to demonstrative and testimonial rhetoric, we examine the three phases of Paul Ricœur’s historiographical operation and set out to demonstrate what link they entertain. But this has to begin with the examination of the representative phase in order to study the way it is articulated to the explanatory/understanding phase and the documentary phase. Thus, we set out to demonstrate how historical writing is able, through the interplay of representation, explanation and documentation, to lead the reader onto a path towards the real world

Full textThis research is focused on the general agreement around m. Blanchot's proposition who says that literature goes to its disappearance. According with r. Barthes, this thesis oppose an historical approche which pretends that it wouldn't be a disappearance of literature, but it would be a connection between the "political signification of literature" and "the usury of the representatif form of narration". This usury is explained on the basis of the pre-eminence of the pictural model -the description gives evidence of this-, over the paradigm of the body - which concerns the enonciation. This pre-eminence of the pictural could be progressive from the first to the second sophistic, and could affirm itself with balzac. Later, in the twentieth century it could disappear. This thesis infers that any question about the situation of literature must take in account the reasons why modernity is fascinated by m. Blanchot's theory. Then, this work reduces the disappearance of literature to the history, using an examination of the rhetoric and poetic treatises

Full textThis study aims to analyse the translation of child rhetoric in Twain's novels Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. The approach is both descriptive and prescriptive. It is based on findings in the fields of translation studies, the history of book publishing, narratology, linguistics as applied to translation, stylistics, as well as over a century of critical discourse on Twain. The approach of the field is systemic, the different versions being analysed in relation to the original but also in relation to one another. Following Berman's precepts, the translators have been taken into account according to their 'position', 'project' and 'horizon'?these notions that encompass the historical, linguistic, literary and cultural elements that influence the translators' way of thinking and translating. A number of paratextual elements are analysed in order to assess the versions according to their readership. This aspect is crucial in the context of novels which have largely been considered as children's literature. The different publishing houses and translators are also defined in terms of political engagement or lack thereof. Child rhetoric is a 'literary sociolect' and one of the many voices which make up these American novels in their original version. It appears that this aspect has been overlooked by critics as well as by French translators. Child rhetoric has been defined as relying on several different types of discourse and a limited number of figures of speech: litotes (or any way of achieving understatement), simile and hyperbole (or any way of achieving overstatement)
