Abstract:
This article addresses the derivational relationship between attributive (nominal) and predicative (verbal) possessives marked by the poss sign in American Sign Language. Though traditionally classified as a possessive pronoun, a collection of morphological, syntactic, and semantic patterns is presented here as evidence that poss instead displays the distributional characteristics of a verbal predicate in the language. Classifying poss as a verbal predicate of possession explains its presence in predicative possessives and allows its attributive use to be derived from this underlying verbal structure as an instance of a prenominal reduced relative clause modifier. These base structures and their interaction with other components of the predicative and attributive domains explain the documented properties of attributive and predicative poss possessives, including, crucially, the sometimes divergent behaviors of these two possessive constructions.

Abstract:
The paper gives a thorough insight into the system of possible forms of (in)alienably possessed nouns in Hungarian. Its point of departure is the group of [Nominative + -j- +A] possessive forms the stem of which has an alternative (morphologically “shorter”) possessive form; such longer possessive forms are claimed to express alienable possession (see den Dikken 2015). We point out that Hungarian deverbal nominals― and especially the groups of T-nouns―play an interesting role in this system via the thematic character of their possessors (given the obvious connection between alienable possession and external argumenthood, on the one hand, and inalienable possession and internal argumenthood, on the other).

Abstract:
" Means of Expressing Inalienable Possession in Verb Structures with Body Part Nouns (French and Romanian). Departing from the verb structures with the possessive dative that express the inalienable possession between a noun that names body parts (Nbp) and its possessor in Romanian (Ro: I-a rupt gâtul. / Fr. Il lui a rompu le cou), we set out to establish a typology of verb structures consisting of two subclasses: (1) Verbs that place the possessor in the possessive dative and the Nbp in the accusative (direct object); (2) verbs that place the Nbp as an adverbial modifier and the possessor in the possessive dative, possessive accusative or genitive. The second objective of our study is to carry out a comparative-based analysis of the ways of expressing the inalienable possession in the verb structures of the two Romance languages, constructed with the lexeme Fr. cou, gorge / Ro gât, to highlight the similarities and differences in this relationship-type structures specific for the two Romance languages. For the analysis we resorted to an authentic corpus, complied from real-life examples sampled from journalistic texts (Corpus Leipzig, online newspapers), supplemented by electronic dictionaries (TLFi, CNTRL, Dex online). Given the richness of verb structures and the considerable number of differences between the two languages, we systematised our analysis in several stages: (1) identifying the verb structures built with the possessive dative; (2) establishing a verb structure typology according to the syntactic function assigned to the Nbp (subject, direct object, indirect object, adverbial modifier) and its possessor (possessive dative, possessive accusative, genitive); (3) highlighting the similarities and differences between the two languages in terms of the construction of the inalienable possession relationship between the Nbp and its possessor. Keywords: possessive dative, inalienable possession, noun denoting body parts, possessor, syntactic function "

Abstract:
In this article, we examine locational constructions (including existentials, locatives, and possessives) in a number of languages. Morpho-syntactically, locationals resemble or are related to one another in word order, in case marking, and in the choice of verbs. In semantics, the relatedness lies in the definiteness effect, in the locative feature, and in the mutually defining relationship between the semantic elements within each construction. As is recognized by Heine (1997), Stassen (2001) and others, the existential is one of the major sources from which possessives are derived. Basically, possessive constructions are existentials whose locative elements are prototypically human. We argue that locational constructions are relational processes and that they can be integrated into a systemic network with respect to two semantic features, i.e., the definiteness of the existent element and the humanness of the locative element. This systemic relationship between locationals has implications for the description and comparison of languages within the Systemic Functional Grammar framework, particularly where locationals are concerned.

Abstract:
This study describes how Turkish and Moroccan adults acquire Dutch possessive clauses in which the verb have expresses the possessive relationship. The acquisition process is explained within the framework of recent generative theory in which have-clauses are assumed to be copular locative constructions. In this theory, predicate inversion of the locative PP and incorporation of the locative P0 into a be-copula are the main characteristics of a possessive have-clause. Assuming that all linguistic knowledge of the L1 is present, L2 learners rely on it from the earliest stages, irrespective of whether this L1 knowledge is parameter-related or not. The results confirm such a “conservation” viewpoint, which accounts for how the possessive relationship is expressed in the earliest stages and why these learners have their language-specific difficulties in discovering the target have-construction. The results corroborate the conservation effect of both parametrized linguistic knowledge, viz., the strong features triggering predicate inversion, and non-parametrized knowledge, viz., knowledge of syntax, morphology and morphological realization rules, and properties of lexical items.

Abstract:
Abstract This study is based on a sample of 116 languages from the Mainland East and Southeast Asian linguistic area. Its first objective is to examine four distinct synchronic patterns of areal polysemy, created by the semantic domains of copular, locative, existential and possessive verbs and the constructions they form. As a consequence, its second objective is to model the diachronic change underlying four language types identified on this basis from the data. We argue that there are three grammaticalization pathways which motivate the four synchronic patterns: Type III languages are distinguished by the grammaticalization chain: (Postural verb) > (Dwell) > Locative > Existential > Possessive, while the other two types, Type II and Type IV, show an opposing pathway: (Grasp) > Possessive > Existential. Type I and Type II languages additionally reveal a recurrent polysemy between Locative and Copular verbs. On this basis, an implicational universal is adduced to the effect that no diachronic adjacency exists between locative and possessive constructions. Crucially, the intervening stage of an existential construction provides the necessary bridging context for possessive reanalysis in this first pathway, while possessive verbs are formally distinct from locatives in the second, bearing no diachronic relationship to them. The findings on the patterns of polysemy sharing reinforce the notion of a clear typological split between Tibeto-Burman languages on the one hand, and Sinitic, Kra–Dai, Hmong–Mien, and Austroasiatic on the other.

Abstract:
Abstract Most languages which code possession morphologically do so by using either prefixes or suffixes. This study examines the minority of languages which employ both prefixes and suffixes in order to express the contrast between alienable and inalienable possession. The focus is on a possible interaction of affix order type and possession type. An analysis of a dozen Malayo-Polynesian languages (8 Eastern Malayo-Polynesian and 4 Central Malayo-Polynesian) reveals a surprisingly consistent pattern. Ten of these languages consistently associate prefixes with alienable possession and suffixes with inalienable possession. None of the 12 languages does it the other way around. This form-meaning relationship is argued to be iconically motivated. Suffixes are claimed to be more closely linked to their stems than prefixes are. This formal closeness mirrors the tighter relationship between possessor and possessum in inalienable than in alienable possession. Five languages make a three-way contrast among inalienable, intermediate and alienable possession. This suggests that the distinction between alienable and inalienable possession should be viewed as a continuum rather than a dichotomy. Individual languages may split up this continuum in different ways.

Abstract:
This research discusses possessive construction on the Simalungun sentence structure. Furthermore, this article will discusses the type of possessive construction and the relationship between the owner/possessor hereinafter referred to as PR and possessed/possessum hereinafter referred to as PM in the sentence. Data are taken from sentences containing possessive construction from folklore contained in "Sinalsal" The Local Content Textbook of Simalungun for Elementary School Students with note reading techniques. The method used in the data analysis stage is the aggregate method and the equivalent method. These method are used to determine the type of possessive construction and the relationships between PR and PM. The research shows the element of owner in Simalungun was marked by the use of pronouns (called hata panggasihi goranan) or the pronouns of owner (called hata panggasihi simadasi/simada: owner, master, the owner). In Simalungun, pronouns or personal pronouns do not distinguish gender as in English. This research proves that the type of relationship between PR and PM in Simalungun is in the form of kinship or partuturan relations and ownership or simadasi relations.

Abstract:
In the clinical practice, as well as in the scientific literature, there is a vast repertory of diagnostic errors, especially when migrant patients express symptomatology related to spirits, djinns and ali "the night's beings" and/or they say (or who are said) possessed, inhabited, or visited by the invisible world. The purpose of this study is to analyze, explain and prevent the high incidence of acute psychiatrie disorders, mainly psychotic, among migrants. We collected and analyzed the speeches of patients, clinicians, patients and their families and we reproduced a photogram of psycho-medical follow-up. We hypothesized that the spirits's illness would be for the patient the expression of suffering, as well as the pivot of the healing process that passes through a quest for meaning, a negotiation between the present and the past, the individual and the group, the origin country and the new world, the ordinary and the extraordinary, and between all the beings, and the persans who are part of. We have corne to the conclusion that spirits often have a "restorative" function in the psyche of the patients analyzed. The appearance, or possession by the invisible, can also be a source of desire satisfaction and narcissistic healing in the patient's experience, although it is a terrifying experience. This work highlights the need to build the framework and the therapeutic relationship, from the way the patient tells his story

The research presented here has as goal to analyse relationship networks generated by possession experience of a spiritual entity, in religious hausehold session, in a popular zone in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. This work is centered on a socio-anthropogical approach of religion and is based on a case study provided by ethnographic method, consisting of participating observation techniques, interviews, life history and regular visitation. In this study, it was established as central points of analysis the cooperation networks molded in the group, the way which the rituals presided by the entity provided experience resignification of the religious group participating, as well as the repercutions implicated in a major context of their lives. Besides, this research presents a discussion about the ways which the literature and this analysis are discussing the possession phenomenon and spiritual entity agency. In the chapters, it is still possible to note a discussion about the brasilian religious field, and the way which its structure provides the religious practices analysed here.

Abstract:
History is often told by the victors. Even the history of the defeated is recounted either by the victors or by those survivors amongst the defeated who find themselves seated on the victor’s throne. Such is the case with the history of the Zafinifotsy, or "descendants of silver", to whom this study is dedicated. Identified, by a historiographical tradition, as belonging to a minor branch of Sakalava royalty, defeated by the "descendants of gold", these descendants of silver founded a new kingdom to the north of Madagascar in the middle of the 18th century: the Antankaraña kingdom. However, a number of these descendants of silver committed suicide by drowning themselves in a bay on the northwestern coast of the island. In this region, currently ruled by a monarchy of the descendants of gold (Zafinimena), a cult of possession is practiced to honour the spirits of these drowned nobles of the silver, former rivals of the rulers of gold. Faced with the political and economic crisis that Madagascar has undergone for the last several years, clan groups and political actors negotiate their legitimacy and current position in the post-colonial context of the Malagasy republican state through these dynastic categories of gold and silver. In carrying out royal rituals, the descendants of slaves and the servants of Sakalava royalty claim a conception of loyalty and work that differs from that imposed first by colonisation and then by the postcolonial state. National government representatives, on the other hand, draw on their aristocratic origins, and more generally on the history of kings, to legitimise their controversial power amongst the population. It is the ideology of royal power and social hierarchy mobilised by these actors that this thesis examines.Through the study of oral traditions and ritual activities in the different villages where this cult is performed, I analyse the historical and ritual relations between the dynastic or clan groups participants belong to. In visiting these different sites and, more broadly, the main historical capitals of the Sakalava royalty, I have realised a regressive history of the royal dynasties in question. The regressive history, inspired by the work of Marc Bloch and Nathan Wachtel, has revealed, on the basis of the contradictions emerging from oral traditions and ritual interactions, that these royal dynasties were originally functional and relative categories used to organise royal succession. This framework grants the descendants of gold the power to reign, and the descendants of silver that of legitimising the power of the former. This ambivalent hierarchy between these two categories of nobles is, moreover, shaped by the joking relationships that link the stranger kings of gold to the masters of the earth. It is at particular historical junctures that these structural and contextual categories crystallised into dynastic designations. This process of dynastisation was primarily driven by the descendants of silver who founded the Antankaraña kingdom, i.e. those who, defeated in ancient times, took to the throne of the victor. This ethnographic example therefore represents a concrete case of the "structure of the conjuncture" theorised by Marshall Sahlins. In conclusion, this study shines a new light on the founding and organisational mechanisms of Sakalava royal power, as well as the functional and structural character of these categories of "gold" and "silver", reified into effective dynastic groups in particular historical conjunctures. More generally, this thesis provides insight into the relational and contextual nature of hierarchy and individual and collective identities in Madagascar

Abstract The Bill of Lading (B/L) is the core concept in the contract of the carriage of goods by sea. With a long history, its nature and legal relationship significantly determine the carrier’s rights and interests. Based on the development history of the B/L, this research employs case studies of relevant international conventions and legislations, domestic and international practices to explore the essence and legal relationship of the B/L. The following is a brief introduction of the seven chapters in this study: Chapter one explains the research motives, objectives, methodology and expected results. Chapter two reviews the history and evolution of the Bill of Lading, and also further discusses its position in today’s international trade world. Chapter three introduces the objectives and content of the international conventions related to the Bill of Lading in the past century, and also anticipates its future prospects based on the close examination of the relevant regulatory regimes. Chapter four concludes the value and nature of the Bill of Lading from the perspectives of current theories and practices, attempts to define the Bill of Lading, and reconciles the conflicts between different attributes. Chapter five identifies the three major theoretical functions of the Bill of Lading, further explores the validity of right in rem and the validity of creditor’s right, and discusses the nature of the Received Bill of Lading. Chapter six studies Britain’s The Bills of Lading Act of 1855 and the theories of the issuance of the negotiable document in Taiwan, and redefines the legal relationship of the B/L. Chapter seven summarizes the conclusions from all previous chapters, and drafts The Bill of Lading Act based on Britain’s Act and Taiwan’s The Bill of Exchange Act in order for theoretical and practical references.

Abstract:
This work offers a morpho-syntactic analysis of a corpus of Latin notarial charters written in northern and central Italy in the Early Middle Ages. The focus is on the concurrence between the synthetic and the analytical encoding of the modifier in the noun phrase. This concurrence represents a stage in the grammaticalization of the prepositional phrase headed by de as an adnominal modifier, a long-lasting process, fully accomplished only in the Romance languages. The interpretation offered in this work relies on semantics and makes use of the functional domain of possession. An important section of the work is devoted to the analysis of the noun inflection attested in the Lombard documents. Despite the highly formulaic and inconsistent language usage, I show on the one hand the dismission of the Latin case system, on the other the reconstruction of the nominal paradigms. Both processes can be semantically motivated with reference to the animacy parameter.

We are surrounded by an enormous amount of objects in everyday life. The notion of human-object relationship has been more and more complicated through the development of technology. To date, people have increasingly acquired virtual objects in their daily life. Researchers recently focus on the concept of how people develop emotional relationship to their digital object. However, there is still an open question that how and why people attach to their virtual possessions and what are the characteristics of the attachment. This research explores emotional relationship between individual and their virtual possessions by Grounded Theory. We conducted 24 in-depth interviews with younger adults (under 20-year-old) and elder adults (above 40-year-old) in Taiwan. By understanding usage behaviors and feelings about participants’ important virtual possessions, several findings came out. The findings are presented as materials for building a theory of attachment development to virtual possessions. We found attachment between an individual and their virtual possessions is developed from individual’s extended self. In addition, “sense of possessing” is not a necessary factor for developing attachment but it may effect the strengthen of attachment. Moreover, We observed four types of virtual possessions with their causes of attachment and usage behaviors. Also, the virtual possessions attachment could be influenced by various factors according social value, personal value, technology access and technology knowledge. Several interesting issues and design implications were proposed for designing the attachment to virtual possessions. As a consequence, we hope not only to help designers and researchers create a sustainable and longer lasting virtual product but also an emotionally flourished virtual world.

"Understanding Romantically Intimate Relational Escalation and De-escalation Among High Functioning Individuals Possessing an Autism Spectrum Disorder." Master's thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/2286/R.I.38627.

Abstract:
abstract: Romantic relationships are an important aspect of anyone's life. For individuals with an autism spectrum disorder, this is true as well. However, these people may experience relational dynamics and trajectories that are in some aspects either similar to or markedly different from those who are not on the spectrum. There are very few studies analyzing and understanding how adults with an ASD navigate romantic relationships. This particular study examined how turning points pertaining to relational escalation or de-escalation were recognized and understood by eight individuals (four men and four women) possessing an ASD. The Retrospective Interview Technique (RIT) was implemented in order to accrue data from participants. Each participant completed a RIT graph mapping out a romantic relationship of their choice by understanding when a turning point was identified and placing a mark next to the corresponding level of relational closeness or attachment. Once all turning points were mapped out, they were connected with lines so that a visual representation of the entire relationship may be viewed. Participants were then queried about how they knew that particular event (or mark) to be a turning point, how it impacted the relationship, and how they were, personally, influenced by it (how they responded to the event). Interviews were transcribed and explored through a grounded theory approach. Specifically, Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis method was applied to articulate interview data. The research revealed four main themes (Relational Genesis, Relational Escalation, Relational De-escalation and Conflict Management) as well as seventeen sub themes. Limitations for this study, information relating to discourses surrounding autism spectrum disorders and romantically intimate relationships, as well as, areas for future study are also discussed.

The purpose of this research is to explore whether the peculiar local images can create the flow experience in the listeners through the activities of listening to folk songs and thus allow them, haunted with the musical conditions describing the place, time and affairs, to experience the intense local feeling and to further arouse their attachment to the place. This research is conducted by analizing and exploring the three aspects of musical perception, flow experience and place attachment with the survey of questionaires. 450 copies of questionnaires are distributed and 386 copies of questionaires retrieved are valid. According to the outcomes from the valid questionaires conducted by the softwares of SPSS and AMOS, the analysis is proceeded in the statistical approaches of the descriptive statistics, the confirmatory factor analysis and the structural equation. The statistical figures reveal that the credibility validity, and structural models of the questionaires all correspond to the requirements of the basic satisfying standards, the overall model suitability and suitability of model inner structure questionaires. The result of the research reveals: A)Musical perception definitely exerts a positive influence on flow experience; B)The stronger level of musical perception and flow experience one achieves, the more intense attachment one will have to the place. Based on the result of the research, it’s discovered that by appreciating folk songs, local images can obviously obsess the people with the atmosphere of the space and time and them make them create the flow flow experience, and therefore, arouse the attachment to the place. So the travel activities may follow. Here is a suggestion to the travel activities and the hosting administration of travel activities. The introduction of the creating backgrounds, historical allusions, local customs of the songs possessing local images and the appreciation of the lyrics and melodies of the folk songs can be applied to interact and match perfectly with the tourist attractions. Not only can people’s cultural capabilities be enhanced but their willingness to go traveling can be reinforced as well.

Abstract:
The essay proposes a study of the relationship between Tasso and Boccaccio, analysing the references to the ancient auctoritas present in Tasso's theoretical production. The sixteenth-century poet's interest in Boccaccio's works can be found in the author's epistolary, in the letters in which Tasso claims to be in possession of some of his texts or in those in which he explicitly requests them. As with Dante and Petrarch, the reading is careful and inclined to take the ancient source as a model for observations of a rhetorical, linguistic-grammatical and metrical nature. These observations form a non-systematic corpus of reflections on poetic language, an authentic reflection of an intimate dialogue between the author and Boccaccio.

Abstract:
In this chapter, Ondřej Daniel discusses the contemporary developments of hardbass, a predominantly Eastern European electronic dance music style that emerged at the turn of the first decade of the twenty-first century in Russia and spread to different countries of the region and beyond. Specifically, the author focuses on de-politicized and commodified hardbass in relation to social class and the mutations it underwent in late postsocialism in Eastern Europe, while paying particular attention to contexts of the Czech Republic and Russia. In terms of transnational circulation, Daniel approaches hardbass as an element of cultural transfer. The resulting study is based on a multi-site research project focusing beyond Eastern Europe on the specific relationship of hardbass to the Netherlands. It interprets contemporary hardbass music videos in line with mocking colonization by the »normcore« strategies of the »middle class« hipster youth possessing cultural and to certain extent also social and economic capital.

Abstract:
Logical abilities are a ubiquitous ingredient in all those contexts that take into account soft skills, argumentative skills or critical thinking. However, the relationship between logical models and the enhancement of these abilities is rarely explicitly considered. Two aspects of the issue are particularly critical in our opinion, namely: (i) the lack of statistically relevant data concerning these competences; (ii) the absence of reliable indices that might be used to detect and measure the possession of abilities underlying the aforementioned skills. This paper addresses both aspects of this topic by presenting the results of a research that we conducted between October and December 2020 on students enrolled in various degree courses at the University of Florence. The dataset has been collected by a three-stage initiative. We started from an entrance examination to assess the students' initial abilities. This test included ten questions, each regarding a specific aspect of logical reasoning. Then, students underwent a short training course to strengthen their knowledge of logic. At the end of the short course, students underwent a final examination to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. To verify the effectiveness of the training program we used students’ characteristics into a Structural Equation Model comparing the distribution of abilities before and after the training.

Abstract:
The paper describes the results of an experimental study carried out by sending bogus CVs in response to online posts. To each post related to a job vacation in a Veneto industry a number of five CVs was created and sent. The CVs were created so to experimentally evaluate the likelihood of discrimination against certain categories of candidates. The variability of call back rates of the addressed industries was analysed to elicit possible relationships between recruiters’ taste and gender, nationality, academic curriculum and other social characteristics of applicants. Contrary to expectations, women obtained more call backs than male counterparts and graduates in a social or humanistic discipline were called back more than graduates in a scientific or technical one. Even the possession of a car was negatively evaluated by recruiters. As expected, instead, foreign-born candidates obtained far less call backs than Italian ones. A multivariate analysis drew us to the conclusion that the largest part of online posts was destined to candidates who belonged to intermediate categories, that is, to candidates being the best once the bottom and the top candidates were skimmed. The worst candidates were excluded for intuitive reasons, while the excellent ones – we conjecture – were left aside because recruiters guessed they would demand more than companies were available to give. These outcomes could help graduates in their duty of preparing an ad hoc CV.

The results we have collected show that there is a widespread lack of understanding of basic patterns that are common in the everyday way of arguing. Students then underwent a short training course, using formal logic techniques in order to strengthen their abilities, and afterwards took an “exit” examination, replicating the structure and the questions difficulty of the entrance one in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the course. Results show that the training was beneficial.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter identifies four word-formation strategies for body-part terms in Mapudungun: Coining of simple forms, derivation, compounding, and reduplication. Semantically opaque components in the latter two shed light on different diachronic stages coexisting in the synchronic language. An analysis of the syntactic behavior of body-part terms reveals the existence of oppositions related to inalienability in nominal and verbal possession. In relation to the morphosyntactic coding of the body part and its whole, two main constructions are identified. If the affectation of the body part is foregrounded, its possessive relation to the whole also tends to be coded overtly, whereas if the affectedness of a body-part is backgrounded, its possessive relation to the whole tends to be implied. Therefore, in Mapudungun, we find constructions where the possessive and sympathetic interpretations of the meronymic relationship coexist, and this coexistence is typologically marked.

Abstract:
Abstract Jealousy occurs when one feels an actual or potential intimate relationship is threatened by a real or imagined rival. This chapter shows that the psychological experience of jealousy is associated with physical and hormonal characteristics. Particularly, the focus is on the distinction between possessive jealousy and reactive jealousy in humans and other species. Possessive jealousy is a preventive reaction that often results in mate guarding. Among human males, possessive jealousy aims to prevent investment in offspring sired by another male, whereas among human females, it seems to have evolved to obtain and preserve the investment of males in offspring and for disease avoidance. Possessive jealousy is related to cultural factors, such as parental control of mate choice, life history (in particular attachment style and father absence), and domestic violence. Regarding reactive jealousy (i.e., the responses to actual sexual and emotional intimacy with a third person), we discuss sex differences in emotional versus sexual jealousy, how reactive jealousy is experienced, and the variables to which it is related. Jealousy implies by definition a rival, and assessing the threat of a rival is a basic, adaptive mechanism rooted in intrasexual competition. This aspect of jealousy may also occur when one has not yet established a relationship but is trying to obtain a mate. In the context of the evaluation of rivals, we focus in particular on sex differences and similarities in the rival characteristics that evoke jealousy among heterosexual, homosexual, and transgender men and women.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter argues for the existence of an early possessive classifier *t(V)- that may have distinguished body parts from the rest of the inalienable nouns in the ase a language family. Evidence of this is the documentation of a t(V)-form or a t(V)-form series in the possessive flexional paradigms in this family. In most cases, it is synchronically reanalyzed as part of the possessive prefix fused to the pronominal possessive prefixes, while in others, *t(V)- seems to have been fused to the root. This suggests that, in Proto-Mataguayan, there may have been only one pronominal series-indexing possessor, and that *t(V)- was related to the meaning of the root. We also posit that there is a relationship with a formally similar verbal prefix, which classifies agentive intransitive roots, and a presumable semantic extension of *t(V)- from body-part nouns to agency in intransitive predicates.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the application of K-Means Clustering algorithms to traditional aircraft conceptual-level weight estimation techniques. As a proof of concept demonstration, application was narrowed to fuselage basic weight estimation with expansion to additional component weights as a planned follow on activity. A variety of weight sources were parsed and curated to produce a large, diverse dataset consisting of 82 separate aircraft with a corresponding new universal baseline regression to compare against. A K-Means Clustering algorithm was then employed that sorted aircraft into groupings based on configuration as well as topology and created an associated regression for each grouping. Configuration-based groupings utilized information such as a high-level abstraction of the structural layout as well as whether the aircraft is a fixed-wing or rotary-wing vehicle. Topology-cased groupings utilized information such as landing gear location and possession of a cargo ramp or wing. The configuration-based groupings showed modest improvement compared to the baseline regression while the topology-based groupings consistently outperformed both the baseline regression as well as the configuration-based regressions. Under all conditions, a subset of the data associated with fixed-wing aircraft was shown to be an outlier in regards to error as a result of a large range of weight and speed scales, as well as possible secondary pressurization impacts. Special treatment of the winged dataset led to further reduction in error based on unique design features, presenting an overall fuselage weight estimation methodology that leverages machine learning algorithms that can improve and inform existing best practices.

Abstract:
Open banking – promoted in the European Union by the access to account rule contained in the Directive (EU) 2015/2366 on payment services in the internal market (PSD2) – is supposed to enhance consumer’s welfare and to foster competition. However, many observers are fearful about the negative effects of the entry into the market of the so-called BigTech giants. Unless incumbent banks are able to rise above the technological challenges, the risk is that, in the long run, BigTech firms could dominate the market, by virtue of their great ability to collect data on consumer preferences, and to process them with sophisticated tools, such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques; not to mention the possible benefits arising from the cross-subsidisation. This paper aims at analysing the controversial relationship between open banking and competition. In this framework, many aspects must be clarified, such as the definition of the relevant markets; the identification of the dominant entities; the relationship with the essential facility doctrine. The specific competition problems encountered in the financial sector need to be inscribed in the context of the more general debate around access to data in the digital sphere. The evolving scenario poses a serious challenge to regulators, calling them to strike the right balance between fostering innovation and preserving financial stability. The appraisal intends not only to cover EU law and policy, but also to make a comparison with other legal systems. In this respect, something noteworthy is taking place in the United States where, as of today, consumers’ access to financial data sharing has been largely dependent on private-sector efforts. Indeed, Section 1033 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (passed in the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008) provides that, subject to rules prescribed by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB), a consumer financial services provider must make available to a consumer information, in its control or possession, concerning the consumer financial product or service that the consumer obtained from the provider. This provision, which dates back to 2010, has never been implemented. However, on 22 October 2020, the CFBP has announced its intention to regulate open banking, issuing an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking. In light of their investigation, the authors advocate the adaptation of the current strategies to the modified conditions and, in some instances, the creation of novel mechanisms, more suitable to face unprecedented threats.

Abstract:
Considerable interest centers around the relationship between isomerization rates and solvent viscosity. These isomerizations are viewed as activated processes which proceed across a barrier. This barrier differs from the classical barrier of transition-state theory by possessing both an activation (potential) energy and friction. The viscosity determines the friction at the barrier. Both excessively low and excessively high viscosities tend to hinder the isomerization; high viscosities decelerate the rate of crossing at the top of the barrier, while low viscosities provide insufficient thermal coupling with the solution for activation to proceed efficiently. The frictional force is not determined by the static viscosity alone, and much work has gone into studying dynamic frictional forces (6).

Abstract:
The number of foreigners residing in Korea exceeded 2.5 million for the first time ever. As the ratio of foreigners to the total population approaches 5%, it is evaluated that Korea has actually entered a multicultural society. It is known that among the types of foreigners staying there are many young foreigners who visit Korea for the purpose of employment. The number of marriage immigrants was 16,025, an increase of 4.3% from the previous year. Of these, 82.6% were women. Entering a multicultural society in a situation where empathy for each other is insufficient can lead to social conflict. In particular, in the COVID-19 pandemic, hostility toward foreigners is more prevalent, and hatred for strangers is increasing. This study critically analyzes these social phenomena and seeks to raise the philosophical basis for multicultural education by establishing a concept with a new perspective on the other. This paper focuses on the philosophy of Buber and Levinas. By establishing 'I and You' as a meeting, Buber presented a new relationship with others. Meanwhile, Levinas emphasized human ethics and responsibility as the absolute and infinite being of the other. According to Buber, in the world there is a relationship between 'I-You' and 'I-It', and in order to live a true life, you must establish a relationship between 'I and you'. The relationship between 'I and it' is a temporary and mechanical relationship where objects can be replaced at any time by looking at the world from an instrumental point of view. However, the relationship between 'I and You' is a relationship that faces each other personally, and the only 'I' that cannot be changed with anything and the 'You' that cannot be replaced exist in deep trust. In phenomenology of otherness, Levinas intends to describe the encounter with the something outside the subject. The concepts of possession, distinctiveness and understanding are replaced by those of approaches, proximity, care and fecundity. In Korean society, a policy that seeks to use foreigners as human resources and, especially in the case of marriage immigrant women, as a solution to a society with low birthrates along with the labor force, shows how society treats others. Therefore, multicultural education must rethink the existence and dignity of human beings through the perspective of the other as asserted in the philosophy of Buber and Levinas.

Abstract:
The transition to a contractual relationship between government and Infrastructure Manager under Directive 2012/34 /EU requires the possession of contract management skills and the development of key performance indicators (KPIs). Previous activities related to the Multi Annual Infrastructure Contract (MAIC) have been exclusively in the field of the Annual Infrastructure Maintenance Program implementation (railway maintenance, public procurement, and supervision of civil works implementation). However, under Directive 2012/34/EU it is necessary to introduce a system of performance indicators for upgrading/modernize infrastructure to obtain value for money. The paper presents a systematic approach in determining the KPIs and their merits on the example of a contract between the Government of Montenegro and the Railway Infrastructure manager of Montenegro (ŽICG JSC) with the aim to improve the operation and quality of services of ŽICG JSC and the condition of railway infrastructure in Montenegro as well. Keywords – Key performance indicators, railway infrastructure Multi-annual contract. Keywords – Key performance indicators, railway infrastructure Multi-annual contract.

Abstract:
Image captioning (IC), bringing vision to language, has drawn extensive attention. Precisely describing visual relations between image objects is a key challenge in IC. We argue that the visual relations, that is geometric positions (i.e., distance and size) and semantic interactions (i.e., actions and possessives), indicate the mutual correlations between objects. Existing Transformer-based methods typically resort to geometric positions to enhance the representation of visual relations, yet only using the shallow geometric is unable to precisely cover the complex and actional correlations. In this paper, we propose to enhance the correlations between objects from a comprehensive view that jointly considers explicit semantic and geometric relations, generating plausible captions with accurate relationship predictions. Specifically, we propose a novel Enhanced-Adaptive Relation Self-Attention Network (ER-SAN). We design the direction-sensitive semantic-enhanced attention, which considers content objects to semantic relations and semantic relations to content objects attention to learn explicit semantic-aware relations. Further, we devise an adaptive re-weight relation module that determines how much semantic and geometric attention should be activated to each relation feature. Extensive experiments on MS-COCO dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of our ER-SAN, with improvements of CIDEr from 128.6% to 135.3%, achieving state-of-the-art performance. Abstract:
Foreign direct investment can be outlined as the net inflows of investment to take possession of permanent management. Foreign direct investments can support poverty alleviation especially for developing countries which needs capital. Global foreign direct investment sums $1.5 trillion in 2019 decreased to a calculated $859 billion in 2020 as the UNCTAD report indicates. Foreign direct investment flows are expected to remain weak with uncertainty due to Covid-19. For almost 25 years, extreme poverty, was steadily declining, on the contrary, expected to rise in 2020 between 88 million and 115 million added as the disruption of the Covid-19 on the global supply chain due to lockdowns. Time series analysis of foreign direct investments and poverty reduction relationship for Turkey between the 1996-2019 period confirms that foreign direct investment net infows reduce poverty: %1 increase of FDI inflow to Turkey increases % 0.011 of household final consumption which used as proxy for poverty. Turkish policymakers should develop an appropriate economic environment to appeal as much as foreign direct investment to Turkey.

Abstract:
Academic entrepreneurship in general implies ipso facto the involvement of academic staff in commercial activities in a system that builds on university-industry relations. In this relationship it is expected from industry to acquire knowledge from institutions of higher education and to utilize this knowledge in the innovation process. On the other hand, academic entrepreneurship also occurs within the national boundaries of a specific country possessing a distinct history and culture. In the case of South Africa, the entrepreneurial culture was build over more than three centuries, 1652 to 1994, on an institutionalized political system of racial segregation. True democracy was only achieved in April 1994 when South Africans saw the first-ever democratic vote and election in South Africa. This paper intends to analyze and evaluate the challenges of academic entrepreneurship for institutions of higher education in South Africa following a historical and survey research design approach. The results revealed that higher education institutions in South Africa, despite remarkable achievements, are still struggling to comply with the demands of the knowledge economy and in the enhancement of academic entrepreneurship.

Abstract:
Nonlinear optical materials possessing large second-order optical nonlinearities at short wavelengths are highly desirable for laser frequency conversion to fabricate high-power laser sources.1-4 Organic polymers are important materials because they offer the advantages of thin film processability, ease of structural modification and fabrication. Therefore organic polymers having nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores either in the main chain or as pendant groups have attracted a great deal of attention. An efficiency/transparency trade-off is the most important factor for practical applications in the field of nonlinear optics. Organic NLO polymers having persistent large second-order optical nonlinearity coupled with desired optical transparency at the fundamental as well as at the second-harmonic wavelengths can be utilized in many applications. Bearing in mind the efficiency/transparency trade-off, we have designed and synthesized a wide variety of polyureas exhibiting large second-order optical nonlinearity and good optical transparency.5,6 This paper describes the second-order optical nonlinearities of novel aromatic polyureas having pendant NLO chromophores. The relationships between molecular structures and optical as well as nonlinear optical properties of polyureas are discussed.
