Abstract:
As a prerequisite for pollution control, monitoring air pollutants is crucial. In recent years, all walks of life are developing toward intelligence, and the concept of intelligent ports is also the development direction of current port planning. A lot of work such as loading and unloading of port cargo and planning has now achieved intellectual development, and the monitoring of air pollutants in ports also needs to be developed towards intelligence. However, at present, there are not many air pollutant monitoring systems for ports. In order to find monitoring equipment and models that are better suited to the port environment, this paper focuses on the main components of air pollutants in ports (SO2, NOX, PM, etc.) and their sources and describes the monitoring methods and principles for these pollutants in ports and on ships, respectively. Regarding monitoring methods, the current application of DOAS (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy) equipment and the monitoring system based on various gas sensors have great development prospects and advantages, based on the monitoring system being more intelligent. At the same time, the use of the same monitoring principle for a variety of pollutants monitoring equipment to a certain extent can save the cost and efficiency of monitoring. In terms of monitoring mode, the combination of manual analysis and automatic analysis will be perfect for the port’s air pollutant monitoring system. This mode can alleviate the embarrassment of the low life of the sensor-based monitoring system to a certain extent, and the data monitored by this mode will be more accurate.

Abstract:
While promoting the global economy and trade, ports impose serious pollution on the global ocean and atmosphere. Therefore, the development of ports is restrained by the policies and measures of governments and international organizations used to cope with climate change and environmental protection. With the development of information technology, the operation and expansion of ports is facing forms of green and intelligent reform. This research aims to link the development of green intelligent ports, government policies, and third-party organizations to find the most suitable evolutionary path for the development of green intelligent ports. This paper assumes that governments will push ports to transform into green intelligent ports from the perspective of benefiting long-term interests, that the goal of ports is to maximize their profits, and that third-party organizations will actively promote the development of green intelligent ports. Based on these assumptions, this paper has established an evolutionary game theory model of “government–port–third-party organization” regarding the development of green intelligent ports. The Jacobian matrix of the game theory system was constructed by using the replicator dynamic equation, and local stability analysis was performed to obtain the equilibrium stability point of the entire system. This research reveals the limitations of the development of green intelligent ports without government involvement and explores the ability of third-party organizations to promote the implementation of policies, confirming the role of government regulation and control in promoting the development of green intelligent ports. This paper may be helpful for the development of green intelligent ports in the future. The results show that: (1) The main factors affecting the choice of port strategy are the benefits of building a green intelligent port, the intensity of government regulation, and the quantitative influence of third-party evaluation results on the port strategy selection. (2) Government decision-making plays an important role in port transformation. If the relevant government chooses the wrong strategy, then the transformation of the port will be delayed. (3) Government regulation and control need to change with the change of the evolution stage. (4) Compared with the macro-control policies of the government, the influence of the third-party organization on the port is significantly smaller.

Abstract:
Smart ports represent the current trend of port development. Intelligent operations reduce the daily production cost of ports, facilitate efficient production, strengthen the risk mitigation ability and comply with the requirements for long-term development. However, a systematic and scientific smart port evaluation method is missing to nail down the evaluation indicators of a smart port and enable accurate evaluation of a port’s degree of intelligence. This paper analyzes the concept of the smart port, establishes a set of smart port evaluation indicator systems, and applies a single-valued neutrosophic exponential similarity measure to port evaluation to enable quantitative evaluation of port integrity. This evaluation method is capable of decision-making in the event of incomplete, uncertain, and inconsistent information during general evaluation, opening up a new method for smart port evaluation, and acting as a helpful tool for ports to carry out improvements during actual application.

Abstract:
This PhD thesis is dedicated to propose a robust cyclic scheduling methodology applied to container management of medium sized seaport which faces ever changing terminal conditions and the limited predictability of future events and their timing. The robust cyclic scheduling can be seen not just a predictable scheduling to compute a container transportation schedule, but also a reactive scheduling to eliminate the disturbances in real time. In this work, the automated intelligent vehicles (AIV) are used to transport the containers, and the P-time strongly connected event graph (PTSCEG) is used as a graphical tool to model the container transit procedures. Before the arrival of the container vessel, a cyclic container transit schedule can be given by the mixed integer programming (MIP) method in short time. The robustness margins on the nodes of the system can be computed by robustness algorithms in polynomial computing time. After the stevedoring begins, this robust cyclic schedule is used. When a disturbance is observed in system, it should be compared with the known robustness margin. If the disturbance belongs to the robustness margin, the robustness algorithm is used to eliminate the disturbance in a few cycle times. If not, the MIP method is used to compute a new cyclic schedule in short time

Abstract:
The widespread use of social media, along with the possibilities to conceal one’s identity in the fibrillation of ubiquitous technology, combined with crime and terrorism becoming digitized, has increased the need of possibilities to find out who hides behind an anonymous alias. This report deals with authorship verification of posts written on Twitter, with the purpose of investigating whether it is possible to develop an auxiliary tool that can be used in crime investigation activities. The main research question in this report is whether a set of tweets written by an anonymous user can be matched to another set of tweets written by a known user, and, based on their linguistic styles, if it is possible to calculate a probability of whether the authors are the same. The report also examines the question of how linguistic styles can be extracted for use in an artificially intelligent classification, and how much data is needed to get adequate results. The subject matter is interesting as the work described in this report concerns a potential future scenario where digital crimes are difficult to investigate with traditional network-based tracking techniques. The approach to the problem is to evaluate traditional methods of feature extraction in natural language processing, and by classifying the features using a type of recurrent neural network called Long Short-Term Memory. While the best result in an experiment that was carried out achieved an accuracy of 93.32%, the overall results showed that the choice of representation, and amount of data used, is crucial. This thesis complements the existing knowledge as very short texts, in the form of social media posts, are in focus.

Moine, Hervé. "Intelligence économique territoriale de l'aire d'influence du Port de Marseille Fos." Université de Marne-la-Vallée, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2007MARN0343.

Abstract:
The Port of Marseille-Fos, strengthened by its 10 000 hectares located at the mouth of the second largest river of the mediterranean basin is a center piece of a global network and a central core of a local network. Interfacing maritime and land stakes, the area which is influenced by this international port must become aware of this complex system which surrounds it. It is the main object of this action research work. The approach presented is structured around the concept of the "territorial manufacturing plant" which links the analytical vision of productivity to that of the plant and the systemic vision associated to sustainable territorial development. This concept has enabled the setting up of a process based on volontary prospective, concertation, action and innovation, which aroused the port's local network, which allowed it to change from a passive state to a receptive one. . . First step toward a territorial pact. The work carried out is based on a precise analysis of the port system problematic and it proposes a method which allows to coordinate the territorial "manufacturing plant" in order to better understand and govern its regulation systems / retroactions (economic, environmental and social). The concrete results are presented and commented in order to finally propose a Territorial Economic Intelligence Master Plan for the areas influenced by the Port of Marseille-Fos. This thesis is the first step of a long process which will lead this territory toward new richnesses

Mtunzini, Samnkelisiwe. "The impact of team emotional intelligence in team decision making at Transnet Port terminals." Thesis, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10948/d1020121.

Full text
Abstract:
Numerous decisions in organisations are made by teams, groups or committees. The need for group decision making is brought about by the increased complexity of many decisions which require specialised knowledge in numerous areas usually not possessed by one person. As such there has also been an inherent recognition that different members bring different contributions and that a marshalling of these contributions enhances decision-making. Most research about how to make teams more effective has focused on identifying the task processes that distinguish the most successful teams - that is specifying the need for collaboration, involvement and commitment to goals. The assumption seems to be that, once identified; these processes can simply be imitated by other teams, with similar effects but it is not the case since they do not take the level of the team’s emotional intelligence into consideration. Emotional intelligence should always be considered in a team setting since teamwork is an inherently social activity and as such emotions play an important role in team processes including decision making. Surprisingly the study of the effects of emotions and emotional intelligence in decision making at group level is a relatively new research avenue. Research indicates that emotional intelligence has been the subject of a significant amount of literature for a number of years. However little has been contributed to how the behaviours associated with emotional intelligence may be practically applied to enhance both individual and group decision-making. Druskat and Wolff (2001a and 2001b) proposed a model for emotional intelligence at the group level. According to their model, groups develop a set of behavioural norms called the Group Emotional Competence Norms (GEC norms) which guide the emotional experience in groups. The proposed model by Druskat and Wolff was used to define and measure group emotional intelligence in this study. The aim of the study was to establish whether there was a relationship between team emotional intelligence and team decision making at Transnet Port Terminal’s Ngqura Container Terminal. The findings of the literature study and the empirical study were combined to evaluate whether team emotional intelligence affected team decision making in the chosen population. The literature study suggested that there was a relationship between team emotional intelligence and team decision making. The empirical study confirmed the relationship between group emotional intelligence and group decision making but failed to confirm whether the chosen population consisted of teams.

Abstract:
The overwhelming majority of global trade is executed over maritime infrastructure, and port-side optimization problems are significant given that commercial maritime ports are hubs at which sea trade routes and land/rail trade routes converge. Therefore, optimizing maritime operations brings the promise of improvements with global impact. Major performance bottlenecks in maritime trade process include the handling of insurance claims on shipping containers and vessel service time at port. The former has high input dimensionality and includes data pertaining to environmental and human attributes, as well as operational attributes such as the weight balance of a shipping container; and therefore lends itself to multiple classification method- ologies, many of which are explored in this work. In order to compare their performance, a first-of-its-kind dataset was developed with carefully curated attributes. The performance of these methodologies was improved by exploring metalearning techniques to improve the collective performance of a subset of these classifiers. The latter problem formulated as a schedule optimization, solved with a fuzzy system to control port-side resource deployment; whose parameters are optimized by a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm which outperforms current industry practice (as mined from real-world data). This methodology has been applied to multiple ports across the globe to demonstrate its generalizability, and improves upon current industry practice even with synthetically increased vessel traffic.

Abstract:
Abstract With the acceleration of the construction of smart ports, the business process in ports is becoming more and more intelligent. Most container terminals in port are generally more automated than other terminals, so it is easier to promote the informatization construction of automated terminals. Through digital twin technology, a container terminal in port can be simulated into a complete system with different combinations of layout, equipment and technology, which can realize real-time monitoring, optimize business processes and bring huge economic benefits. In short, digital twin technology has become an important factor in promoting the development of container terminal. In this paper, digital twin technology is applied to the business of container terminal. Meanwhile, the business processes of container terminal are sorted out according to production factors, production information and production tasks. Then a digital twin model modeling method for container terminal from the three dimensions of element, behavior and rule is proposed to realize the virtual simulation of container terminal. The modeling process of element model, behavior model and rule model in port is elaborated in detail. Taking the container terminal in Qingdao Port as a case study, a digital twin system architecture of container terminal is studied. Part of the DT modeling process of container terminal in Qingdao Port is provided. The feasibility and effectiveness of the modeling method are verified. At last, some applications of digital twin container terminal are advised.

Abstract:
While the context of Industry and Logistics 4.0 is mainly related to smart systems and automation, new efforts are being applied to develop human-centric super-smart system, under the name of Industry 5.0. One example of a logistics system in this context can be seen in port terminals, which are migrating from traditional modern ports to Smart Ports. In this context, a series of questions arise related to the intrinsic human factors influencing the performance of smart systems. Thus, the main objective of this research is to develop a conceptual framework of human-centric decision for the integrated logistics operation and maintenance planning in smart port systems. A systematic literature review is adopted to build the scientific pillars for the conceptual framework. Afterwhile, under the Industry 5.0 context, we developed a human-centric decision framework connected with smart technologies to acquire real-time data and integrate logistics operations. As conclusion, we identified that the interaction of humans with recommendations from smart systems are not explored properly, and, so, the constructed framework presented an approach demonstrating that human decision can be influenced by intrinsic factors and affect the interaction between humans and intelligent systems.

Abstract:
As one of the prevailing social media in China, Sina Weibo maintains its position by utilizing artificial intelligence technology in recent years. This study explores the interaction behaviors of Sina Weibo users in terms of following, commenting, and reposting by social network analysis and discusses the intelligent technology applied on the platform in order to understand the characteristics of user behavior under intelligent background. Based on analysis of data collected from Sina Weibo, it has been proved that the density of the following relationships between users is not particularly close and users' following behavior tends to be "related" or "interest-based"; A small number of users are highly followed and a few posts attract many comments; users' reposting activity tends to be more frequent than commenting. The user's behavior has certain characteristics under the intelligent background. We believe that this study has a certain reference value for the development of social media, and can provide some insights into the interaction design and user experience design under the influence of intelligent background.

Abstract:
Maritime navigational safety is of utmost importance to prevent vessel collisions in heavily trafficked ports, and avoid environmental costs. In case of a likely near miss among vessels, port traffic controllers provide assistance for safely navigating the waters, often at very short lead times. A better strategy is to avoid such situations from even happening. To achieve this, we a) formalize the decision model for traffic hotspot mitigation including realistic maritime navigational features and constraints through consultations with domain experts; and b) develop a constraint programming based scheduling approach to mitigate hotspots. We model the problem as a variant of the resource constrained project scheduling problem to adjust vessel movement schedules such that the average delay is minimized and navigational safety constraints are also satisfied. We conduct a thorough evaluation on key performance indicators using real world data, and demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in mitigating high-risk situations.
