Abstract:
Land transportation networks play key role in economic activities by providing access to industries and commercial centers. As integral part of transportation system ports provide essential interchange between sea and land communication to facilitate interaction with global economic hubs. Region’s accessibility to port usually determines its production and growth potential. This paper provides quantitative analysis of roadway based port accessibility to different regions in Saudi Arabia using GIS framework. It also provides analytical basis for comparing relative geographical implications of the ports in the context of regional GDP and population concentration. Using geoprocessing tools like Network Analyst and Spatial Analyst in ArcGIS framework, accessibility contours are assessed. Then spatial indicators are developed to measure interaction between accessibility and economic parameters. Using these indicators, the regions lacking in adequate port accessibility are identified. Further analysis reveals that investment to improve accessibility of these regions may provide beneficial effect on their economic growth. The proposed procedure may be applied in regional planning and economic feasibility studies.

Abstract:
Abstract Currently, there is a rapid increase in demand for the transmission of large amount of data with extreme accuracy, which is usually performed by the antenna system. Therefore, this work aims to design an antenna system that has the potential of improving the performance of such system in terms of reducing the antenna size, and expanding the bandwidth. First, a single-port antenna was designed after calculating the basic requirements and then a comprehensive analysis of the antenna performance was carried out to reach optimum performance. Then, the antenna was connected to two, three, and four ports. Such connection was implemented while maintaining efficiency and magnification in each case within the range for wireless applications. The antenna with four input ports was designed with a 45° angle on a circular circumference around the antenna to prevent interference between the ports. The modified antenna was designed to accommodate wireless communication applications (such as the 5G mobile communications network as well as the future 6G mobile communications network). The experimental results were compared with those obtained from the simulation studio Computer Simulation Technology, which is more compatible with the practical results.

Abstract:
Abstract A new formula for determining the suspended sediment load in Khour Al-Zubair port has been proposed using dimensional analysis. Six cross-sections have been identified in Khour Al-Zubair port at Basrah province, South of Iraq for the purpose of conducting field measurements during the two tidal periods (Neap and Spring). The study involved taking field measurements of the hydraulic and fluid properties, and sediment sampling by section every 2 h to get effective parameters used for developing empirical formula. These parameters include the density of sediment (ρ s), mean velocity (V), hydraulic radius (R h), fall velocity of the particle (W s), median grain size (d 50), the salinity of water (S), water level (W L), the width of the estuary (B), specific gravity (G s), maximum flow depth (D max), and kinematics viscosity (ν). The formula was developed using the statistical analysis using the SPSS program and dimensional analysis method. A good agreement between the loads computed by the suggested formula and the observed data has been attained based on the correlation coefficient value (R = 0.97). The results showed that the average total suspended sediment loads by using the proposed formula is 1288285.464 tons/year.

The author gives examples of in mation security incidents in transport in Russia and worldwide since 2018. Statistical analysis made it possible to conclude that the main motive of cybercriminals in carrying out information attacks is information theft, mostly personal data, including from cloud storage. Social engi-neering and cyber-attacks using malicious software are likely to remain the most popular and successful methods of infiltrating corporate information systems.

Abstract:
Flexibility of Lime Mortar resulting from its good permeability feature through its relatively large interconnected pore structure makes it popular as an old sustainable building material. This characteristic feature enhances its capability to suppress masonry deformation. However, its mechanical strength is weak. To address this shortcoming, cement is added to form a stronger composite. This study, therefore, evaluates the pore structure of the resulting lime-cement composite, with a view to assessing impact and sustainability of the lime’s flexibility in the overall performance of the composite. Adopting equal mix ratio (1:3) of Binder/Aggregate (B/A), mortars were prepared using lime as a lone binder, as well as other five different compositions in the ascending and descending order of lime and cement binders (i.e., 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 2:1 and 3:1). Each composition was assessed in fresh state using Water/Binder ratio, Air Content and Bulk Density. For the hardened state assessments, mechanical characteristics and microstructural features evaluated through six (6) and twelve (12) month curing periods respectively, were considered. Results of the investigation reveal that low cumulative porosity (i.e., summation of the porosities) across the three pore regions of Inter-Nano pores (1 – 10 nm), Super-Nano pores (10 – 100 nm) and Sub-Micro pores (0.1 – 1 µm), for each of the mortars, is observed to be synonymous with low cement content, low Modulus of Elasticity, low (fc/ff), and thus, high flexibility. This observation is supported by high linear coefficient of correlation (R2 = 0.89) for the equation describing both ‘cumulative porosity’ (within the referenced three pore ranges) and cement content. Thus, it could be inferred that despite cement addition with resulting alteration in the pore structure of the composite, presence of lime would retain flexibility property of the composites, with more flexibility in the descending order of cement contents. Considering the impacts of pandemic climate change, growing energy costs and human activities on the environment, this study therefore attempts to promote revival of an old but partially abandoned sustainable lime based mortars, with a view to facilitating improved lime mortar performances, conservation of energy resources and overall protection of the environment.

Abstract:
In recent years, an increasing number of military veterans have enrolled in higher education. Little research has been conducted on veterans in tandem with higher education, but what does exist shows that they are a unique student population because of their military background. In the last few years, scholarship has called for research on veterans in classroom environments. Moreover, composition scholars in particular have called for research on veterans and writing. Although veterans have been recognized as a unique student population, little research has been conducted on what pedagogical practices can be used to help them as they become students. First-year composition courses are the perfect context to examine the intersection of these calls for research because most veterans have to take them – since they often enroll as freshmen – and they involve varied written assignments. The purpose of this study was to explore what veterans’ experiences had been in the classroom environment of first-year composition courses and in working towards the course goals for written assignments through qualitative methods. This study also sought to discover what veterans thought could be altered to improve their experience in first-year composition. This study focused on the context of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and its first-year composition course, Engl-101. In order to discover what veterans’ experiences had been, a focus group of five veterans that had taken Engl-101 at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale was held. Additionally, a follow-up interview was conducted with one of the participants of the focus group. The results were consistent with the findings of other research on veterans. What was most notably clear was that veterans’ experiences in Engl-101 were greatly influenced by their experiences in the military. Participants expected their instructors to wield more authority over the class, much like their superiors would in the military. Additionally, veterans were often challenged by the behaviors of non-military students, which they perceived as disrespectful. Despite these challenges that participants encountered in the classroom environment, they also drew from the leadership skills they acquired while in the military to counter them. Additionally, the participants of this study raised that their instructors cared about the students and the content of the course, which alleviated some of the challenges they encountered. When it came to working towards the course goals for the written assignments, veterans struggled to expand their ideas beyond a few sentences, largely due to the style of writing they were used to in the military. That said, once veterans had a clear understanding of the conventions needed for an assignment, they were able to write strong essays. Ultimately, instructors of first-year composition that work with veterans will need to further training on the expectations that veterans’ carry with them from the military. Once instructors have knowledge of the ways veterans learn, they can adapt their pedagogical practices to suit.

Abstract:
The origin of this dissertation is the authors unrest relatively to the unexpressive results of public policies towards solid wastes issues in small cities of Minas Gerais. The Program known as Minas Joga Limpo, implanted by the State Government about ten years ago, wasthe starting-point. It is questioned, overall, the indication of the recycling and composting units (known as URC) as the main alternative for these cities, showing that, in their majority, the small municipalities are not prepared to implant and to keep than in operation. It is recognized the importance of physical characterization and solid wastes mass balancestudies, althought in the case of Minas Joga Limpo the procedures upon which they are based are arguable, mainly solid wastes and composting production evaluations. It is resumed the concept of solid wastes valuation, presenting, in consequence, a practical criteria to evaluate small cities capacity to make it real. The size, the instruction degree and the income level of the population are the studied variables, which translate, respectively, the scale of solid wastes production, the possibility of users collaboration in previous household selection aiming at the separate collection, and the availability of city halls economy inrelation to implanting and maintaining composting units. As indicators are used, beyond population, education and income level components of Human Development Index - IDH. The results seem to indicate that the composting and recycling system is not advisable for most part of the small cities in Minas Gerais. According to the proposed criteria, only 5% of those cities have chances to implant them, in opposition to the settings of Minas Joga Limpo. This is the demonstration that the majority of localities involved in that Program could be benefited in other way, maybe with better collecting and landfilling systems.

Abstract: The yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg.) has been suffering with many diseases, what have been severely compromising the crop yield, determining the migration of the culture. Abstract:
Abstract: Chemical control of the fungus Didymella bryoniae, causal agent of gummy stem blight of melon, is frequently inefficient. Alternative methods as grafting on resistant rootstocks and nutrition handling must be studied. Different rootstocks and potassium concentrations were tested to control the disease on net melon grown under plastic house conditions. In a first experiment four rootstocks (melon „Dinero‟, watermelon „Ojakkyo‟, squash „Strong Tosa‟ and calabash „TI-191‟) were tested for resistance inoculated by disks mycelium (7 mm diameter) with four isolates ( Dbr 34, Dbr 36, Dbr 37 and Dbr 39) of D. bryoniae in stem previously injured. Based on lesion size „Dinero‟ proved to be susceptible to the fungus, „Strong Tosa‟ moderately resistant and „Ojakkyo‟ and „TI-191‟ resistant and the isolated Dbr 37 proved more aggressive among isolates. In a second experiment hybrid net melon „Bonus II‟ was grafted on rootstocks „Dinero‟ and „Strong Tosa‟, inoculated with isolate Dbr 37 of the fungus and submitted to different potassium concentration (0; 62,5; 125; 187,5; 250 mg L-1), inoculated both grafted plants as non grafted. Grafted plants of „Bonus II‟ were resistant to the fungus and the non grafted ones susceptible. Potassium concentrations did not influenced size of the lesion on the stem and also in the plants survival, however influence on stomatal conductance and transpiration plants.

Abstract: The present study involved three communities, Porto Limão, Porto Alambrado, and Campo Alegre, located in the territorial continuum of the Pantanal et Cáceres, along the border between Mato Grosso State, Brazil, and Bolivia. Records were made of the population’s knowledge with respect to their perceptions and uses of the plant community, in the local units of landscape, focusing on yards and adjacent areas that serve as sources of plant resources. Data collection involved application of methods from the field of ethnobotany, associated with anthropology and classic studies of plant taxonomy. Structured and semistructured forms were used to record the socio-economic and cultural profile of the population. The landscape units indicated by the population were geo-referenced, and maps were generated of the areas that provide plant resources. The 77 residents of the three communities represent 91% of local households: 25%, 83%, and 100% of households in Campo Alegre, Porto Limão, and Porto Alambrado, respectively. The population reflects the miscegenation of populations native to the region, descendents of the indigenous nations Guató, Bororo, Chiquitano and Terena, and migrants mainly from southern, southeastern and northeastern Brazil. The population often uses products extracted from native plants which are used directly in medicine and in the local diet, as well as in fishing activities and animalraising. Introduced species are more commonly found in agricultural activities, with the exception of manioc (Manihot esculenta Crantz), which was the species most often cited in the three communities. The botanical material indicated and collected composes a collection of 6,212 citations corresponding to 628 taxa belonging to 118 botanical families, with 583 species and 416 genera (according to the Angiosperms Phylogeny Group). Six families are noteworthy with respect to the number of species cited... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

Abstract: The development of urban centers has led to an inordinate increase in the generation of waste and consequent environmental pollution. Considering the agronomic potential of the waste generated by cities, the present work objective was to check the influence of garbage compound (GC), pruning of tree (PT) and commercial substrate (CS), associated to different irrigation blades in the rootstocks (Rangpur Lime) citros development. The experimental delineation adopted was in random blocks in a fatorial scheme 6x3, being six different substrates combinations: S1 - 100% CS; S2 - 80% CS + 20% PT; S3 - 60% CS + 30% PT + 10% GC; S4 - 40% CS + 40% PT + 20% GC; S5 - 20% CS + 50% PT + 30% GC e S6 - 60% PT + 40% GC associated to different irrigation blades: 50% (I1), 100% (I2) e 150% (I3) of the daily evapotranspiration measured by the atmometer. The evaluated plants parameters were: height, leaves number, stem diameter, fresh matter and dry matter of the air part. The results allowed to conclude that the irrigation below the evaporation measured by the atmometer caused negative effect in the plants development and the water replacement with 150 % (I3) was the one that favored the development. The substrates S2, which is used 80% of SC associated with 20% CP was that the enhanced growth of the rootstocks. The substrates with garbage compound percentage superior to 30 % appeared unsuitable for the rootstocks development

Abstract: This work aimed at analyzing the electric energy storage system generated from a photovoltaic system with lead-acid batteries. The increasing claim for energy in the world in addition to the need of utilizing renewable sources of energy in order to preserve the environment makes necessary the development of efficient techniques for energy generation and control. The energy shortage experienced in today's world attracts attention from the scientific community, which is concerned about developing alternative projects towards the human being's need in a productive way, without pollution and low cost. Two photovoltaic systems were used in this work, a conventional one with stationary solar panel and another with automatic solar position system. The comparative analysis has allowed assessing the advantages of both systems. The following characteristics were obtained during the development of this work: charge, discharge, battery capacity, operating time rate, auto-discharge reaction (through fluctuation state), among other important information that allowed to attain an extended life to the stationary battery studied. The characteristics described in the references of this work have been obtained, and modeling techniques through electric circuits were used to simulate the battery behavior for charge and discharge conditions. The experimental tests of the battery operation in both systems were carried out. This research has searched for showing the main differences of the battery behavior in order to get the configuration in which the battery operation is developed in more favorable conditions.

Abstract:
AbstractAcute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients who undergo allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and affects approximately 30–40% of recipients. Prevention remains the goal, and the recent introduction of post-transplant cyclophosphamide in the haploidentical transplant setting is changing the landscape. GvHD diagnosis is complicated, and grading and staging vary depending upon the tool and transplant centre involved. For the majority of patients who go on to develop GvHD, corticosteroids remain the first-line treatment for both acute and chronic forms of the disease. Recipients that are refractory to systemic steroids have a plethora of second- and third-line options available to them. A ‘standard of care’ approach has not yet become agreed globally due to poor evidence from small and limited randomised control trials. However, the recent REACH (Zeiser et al. N Engl J Med. 382(19):1800–10, 2020; Zeiser et al. N Engl J Med. 385(3):228–38, 2021) and ROCKstar trials (Cutler et al. Blood. 38(22):2278–89, 2021) have armed clinicians with new and effective therapies. Supportive care is paramount, and the nurse is at the centre of the patient’s care and in the best position to guide and advise the patient and family through this often-long-term complication.

Abstract:
AbstractUniversities are the main centers where the drivers of innovation for sustainability and decarbonization of the built heritage are investigated and developed. But are existing university buildings sustainable? If zero carbon buildings are to be our goal in 2050 (EU Green Deal), what is the current carbon footprint of these buildings? How can we enhance post-occupancy evaluation and drive technological and energy retrofits for participatory environmental design? This is the focus of the research carried out within the MedEcoSuRe (Mediterranean University as Catalyst for Eco-Sustainable Renovation) Project, funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC MED Program, which analyses and compares a number of sustainability assessment methods for existing university buildings (Green Metric, Stars, GRI, …) in order to develop the most effective indicators, not only to highlight the really virtuous buildings, but also to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the university building stock and to implement the most appropriate redevelopment strategies. According to the Renovation Wave Strategy, these approaches are aimed at improving not only the energy performance of buildings but will also improve the quality of life of people living in and using university buildings. The research considered multiple aspects concerning not only the environmental and functional performance of buildings, but also the direct satisfaction of users (providing a safe, healthy and comfortable environment for students, teachers and staff) and the strategies to manage energy, water, green and material resources during the operational phase (Xue et al. in Sustainability 12(1):294, 2020). The evaluation of environmental and functional performance of educational buildings should ensure that the effectiveness of buildings is maximized not just in terms of occupancy costs but also with respect to user satisfaction (Ekekezie et al. in Int J Progressive Res Sci Eng 2(8/202):388–397, 2021).

Abstract:
AbstractAllogeneic stem cell transplantation was successfully performed in 1968, and its use has grown significantly over the past five decades with the total number now exceeding 1.5 million patients (Niederwieser et al. Haematologica. 107:1045–1053, 2022). HSCT is a curative treatment for many haematological cancers and other disorders. Almost 40,000 HSCT procedures are performed Europe-wide per annum (Passweg et al. Bone Marrow Transplant. 51(6):786–92, 2016), and the number of transplant recipients achieving ‘long-term survival’ and with late effects directly related to their treatment (Majhail et al. Hematol Oncol Stem Cell Ther 5(1):1–30, 2012) is increasing (Penack et al. Blood Adv 4:6283–6290, 2020). This growth in survivors is the result of improvements in transplant knowledge and expertise, refinements to conditioning regimes, developments in supportive care and increased numbers of procedures due to broadening transplant indications. The most common cause of death after transplant is relapsed disease. Yet, even without disease relapse, long-term survival is complex for many as other causes of mortality such as graft versus host disease (GvHD), infection, second malignancy, respiratory disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD) (Savani et al. Blood. 117:3002–9, 2011) prove difficult to address.Recovery post-HSCT is challenging, lasting several months to years. These individuals are susceptible to the development of post-treatment physical and psychological sequelae years to decades after completion of treatment leading to a reduced life expectancy with greater morbidity when compared to an age-adjusted population (Socié et al. N Engl J Med 341:14–21, 1999). Survivors with late effects experience significantly poorer physical and mental health, report more unmet needs for care and have significantly greater use of health services compared with survivors without late effects (Treanor et al. Psychooncology 22(11):2428–2435, 2013).Furthermore, as the number of survivors continues to grow, their long-term health problems and subsequent needs demand increasing resource and attention from late effects services. These services must remain agile and responsive, develop capacity to provide continuing expertise and oversight and collaborate with the other specialist services for input when needed. The unpredictable, complex and multifactorial nature of these long-term and late effects in HSCT survivors means that patients require regular life-long assessment guided by rigorous protocols. However, it is important to remember that even using standardised protocols, these should be different for adults and children and the resulting care must be tailored to the needs of the individual. And finally, further consideration is needed for the growing number of young people and adult survivors in long-term follow-up who have been treated in childhood and transitioned into adult long-term follow-up care.
