Abstract: Between 1945 and 1964, Brazil experienced a period of political parties creation and of the establishment of direct elections for the most important positions of the executive and legislative powers. The period was also marked by developmentalist euphoria, strikes and urban riots against the rising on the living cost. The worker, recognized in the voter condition, became central to the achievement of public power.Florianópolis, unlike other capitals or cities with large industries, had no significant contingent of workers. The city¿s dynamic relied on the condition of administrative center of the state of Santa Catarina. However, the absence of a working class in the "classic¿ sense did not mean the sterilization of social struggles. From the analysis of various sources ¿ such as newspapers, opinion polls, electoral data, parliamentary documents, this study investigated the channels of dialogues established between the working classes and political groups. It was verified a more complex conjuncture than the traditional interpretation of Santa Catarina political history. Some understandings of the state as polarized between UDN and PSD, with a weak PTB, restricted to the role of "true balance¿ in the equilibrium between the two major parties, were relativized. Interpretations based on the results of the elections equally affirmed that Florianópolis presented "strong predominance¿ of PSD. However, the investigation of multiple experiences woven among candidates, parties and workers, embodied with the analysis of the vote distributions of the candidate for city regions, allowed seeing beyond the prevalence of one acronym. Political leaders, such as Aderbal Ramos da Silva, later remembered as the 'city owner¿, was not always recognized. On the other hand, characters labeled as "troublemakers¿ or "demagogues¿, likeManoel de Menezes, were significant political forces, sometimes able to put into question the dominance of the so-called big parties. The relationship between politics and the working class from Florianópolis was not, nor can it be thought of, as mere reproduction of national movements, neither as epiphenomenon isolated in its peculiarities. Thus, from the relations between the regional and the national, the present work seeks to understand the unstable alliances between social actors and the various means by which the working classes inserted the fight for rights on the political agenda of the city

Within this project we shall try to show the links between urban children s nursery rhymes, their history, structure, methods of production and their practical use within the class room, being used in musical activities for children aged between seven and ten years of age, helping to create a musical base. The project will involve students from two different schools in Sao Paulo. The research will consist of three chapters arranged in the following manner: The first chapter studies traditional nursery rhymes through their historical and cultural origins; we shall be aiming to analyze their inherent musical and poetical structures. The main emphasis of this chapter will be to show how this type of traditional nursery rhyme has evolved since the beginning of the last century and how they are presented today. In the second chapter we shall focus on a more specific area, being modern urban nursery rhymes from the city of Sao Paulo. We have selected three of the main composers from this area and through interviews we shall be looking to get closer to this very specific area within the musical field; which is now calling a lot of attention as a social project. The third chapter will be a practical exercise, creating two original songs, designed specifically for use within the class room and also in local choirs; This chapter will also include activities developed with pupils from the two participating schools.

Abstract:
Crowd simulation models usually aim at producing visually credible crowds with the intent of giving life to virtual environments. Our work focusses on generating statistically consistent behaviours that can be used to pilot crowd simulation models over long periods of time, up to multiple days. In real crowds, people's behaviours mainly depend on the activities they intend to perform. The way this activity is scheduled rely on the close interaction between the environment, space and time constraints associated with the activity and personal characteristics of individuals. Compared to the state of the art, our model better handle this interaction. Our main contributions lie in the domain of activity scheduling and path planning. First, we propose an individual activity scheduling process and its extension to cooperative activity scheduling. Based on descriptions of the environment, of intended activities and of agents' characteristics, these processes generate a task schedule for each agent. Locations where the tasks should be performed are selected and a relaxed agenda is produced. This task schedule is compatible with spatial and temporal constraints associated with the environment and with the intended activity of the agent and of other cooperating agents. It also takes into account the agents personal characteristics, inducing diversity in produced schedules. We show that our model produces schedules statistically coherent with the ones produced by humans in the same situations. Second, we propose a hierarchical path-planning process. It relies on an automatic environment analysis process that produces a semantically coherent hierarchical representation of virtual cities. The hierarchical nature of this representation is used to model different levels of decision making related to path planning. A coarse path is first computed, then refined during navigation when relevant information is available. It enable the agent to seamlessly adapt its path to unexpected events. The proposed model handles long term rational decisions driving the navigation of agents in virtual cities. It considers the strong relationship between time, space and activity to produce more credible agents' behaviours. It can be used to easily populate virtual cities in which observable crowd phenomena emerge from individual activities

Abstract:

Abstract:
The topic of this thesis is the Marca dynasty, a piedmontese family from the Valsesia area, specialized in the stucco work. In the early eighteenth century, some of its members migrated to the Franche-Comté in France, in search of work, the others remaining in Piedmont. Their realizations can be studied in religious places and private houses in Italy, in Franche-Comté and Burgundy. These works (altars, pulpits, statues and bas-reliefs in stucco) were created between the late seventeenth century and the early nineteenth century. This topic is entirely unpublished, especially as the information on this family are rare and scattered. Moreover, no research has been undertaken on it, neither in France nor in Italy. This study is well an analysis on this Italian family and its activity. The thesis provides an accurate biography of each member, defines the organization, methods and techniques of the stucco work, the inventory of their works, and position them in the artistic and religious context of their time. The archives of Burgundy, Doubs, Jura, Haute-Saône in France and of the regions of Biella and Vercelli in Italy have been exploited. Visit a large number of Italian and French buildings decorated with Marca’s furniture or near their style has been also necessary to carry out this work. The main objective was to place the Marca dynasty in its geographical, historical and cultural context, to understand its organization and specificity, to define accurately its style from recognized works, to be able to propose new attributions

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the analysis of the adult educational association activities in the Czech lands during the period of the monarchy ofAustria-Hungary (1848-1914). The Czech society was subjected to development being part of the multinational Habsburg Empire affected by the modernization process of the second half of the 19th century. The ideas of capitalism, industrialization and urbanization marked a series of changes in the economical, educational, political and cultural area. In the second half of the 19th century, the initially united national-emancipatory stream fell apart into separate trends of adult education. The process of centralization reached its climax together with the forthcoming adult education specialization. All the cultural engagement resulted in the founding of the Union of adult education (Svaz osvětový). The thesis takes a closer look at the physical education and women adult education activities and the national unions activities. An analysis follows of the main characteristics of the pre-war adult education: the intricate co-existence with the German nationals, the culture link to the political interests or copying foreign models. The final chapter places the adult education in the years 1848-1914 into the context of the following development during the period of the...
