Abstract:
Abstract The present study has shown that the atmosphere, being a vital natural resource for humans, is constantly negatively influenced by the side effects of human social activities. As a resource that has no territorial boundaries, the atmosphere needs not only modern technologies to ensure its prosperity, but also intensive methods of protection. In this connection, the purpose of this article is to determine the necessary directions for optimizing the mechanisms for preventing atmospheric pollution. The isolation of mechanisms that control and guarantee the observance of the procedure for using this natural object, ensuring respect for the interaction of human society with the specified component of the environment, as well as identifying problems that create an obstacle to the full implementation of atmospheric pollution prevention mechanisms, contribute to the achievement of the set goal and predetermine the results of this study.

Abstract:
ANIMAL WASTE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT FOR PREVENTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IN KOTAMOBAGU CITY. The animal wastes from animal farm affect the environmental condition of human settlement, when it was not well managed. The objectives of this study was to evaluate either levels of knowledge, attitude and technical skill had correlated directly or not with their motivation activity in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes around Kotamobagu city. Variables in this study were referring on the farmer’s standard knowledge (X1), attitude (X2), technical skill (X3) and motivation activity in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes (Y) around Kotamobagu city using the functions of linear multiple regression, Yi = b0 + b1X1 + b2X2 + b3X3 + ei; where Yi was the-i observation of farmer’s motivation activity in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes; b0 was intercept; b1, b2 and b3 were regression coefficients, X1 was farmer’s knowledge, X2 farmer’s attitude, X3 was farmer’s technical skill in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes; and e1 was random error. Results of this study showed that knowledge level (X1), attitude (X2) and technical skill (X3) of farmers could be the important factors affecting farmer’s motivation activity in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes (Y) in Kotamobagu city areas. The equation of multiple regression model was found, Y = 1.468 + 0.784 X1 + 0.218 X2 + 0.004 X3. The determination coefficient (R2) of 0.81 in this model indicated that 81 percents of the variation of independent variables (X1, X2, and X3) used in the model were able to affect the variation of the dependent variable (Y). The rest of 19 percents in the model were caused by the other unknown factors. The average score values of knowledge level (X1=87.23), attitude (X2=93.37) and technical skill (X3=88.40) and farmer’s motivation activity (Y=90.60) in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes (poultry and pig) in Kotamobagu city areas were still below the score median values (X1=93; X2=100; X3=100; Y=93) of those variables. This condition suggested that extension activities related to the prevention of environmental pollution of animal wastes in Kotamobagu city areas were still needed to be conducted, mainly to the farmers with low scores in knowledge, attitude, technical skill and motivation activity in preventing environmental pollution of animal wastes. Key words: Animal waste product, prevention of environmental pollution, Kotamobagu city.

Abstract:
This research is focused on the development of protecting system for window. In detail, we tried to develop pollution preventing system of a glass, mirror, or camera lens. For this, the new method for efficient pollution prevention was designed and the characteristic evaluation for developing the system is partly performed. Formerly, the method using air purge is generally used for preventing the pollution of camera window. However, the conventional method often induces contaminations due to back flow of air purging. These pollutants can be crucial damage to the camera window and peripheral materials especially in clean room condition. And the conventional method always requires air supply, therefore it is difficult to apply the method where air source can not be supplied such as traveling crane located at mountain altitudes. To solve above mentioned the problem, the efficient concept for preventing pollution of camera window is proposed in this research. Without air purging, we proposed the new method using repulsion induced by electrifying dirty or moisture to positive magnetic force with high-voltage charge and then injecting gas to the ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) coating window for generating positive ion. To sum up, in this research, we aim to develop an efficient pollution preventing system for camera window based on the new method through characteristic evaluation and stabilization of the designed system.

Abstract:
This paper describes a new system – Vehicle Kit (VEKIT), which uses a secure web-based interface for the authentication and monitoring of Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) infrastructure and for preventing environment pollution. This paper presents the hazards caused by the usage of bags made of plastic material and proposes the design of VEKIT, which is to be installed in the vehicles for reducing the usage of such carry bags up to 75%. The survey results prove that the proposed VEKIT approach is very much relevant to solve the pollution problem faced by various countries. This novel application adds value to the future VANET projects by helping the countries to prevent pollution. The web interface of VEKIT presented in the paper can also be used to monitor the vehicles for their authenticity. A secure architecture is proposed for the usage of VANET in transport related projects.

Abstract:
In recent years the economy of Bangladesh has increased significantly due to rapid industrialization. Despite economic prosperity, it causes serious damage to the environment by polluting water resources. Factors like discharging industrial effluents, urban runoff, and agricultural wastage are primarily responsible for polluting the water bodies in Bangladesh. This kind of pollution not only harms the environment but also severely affects human health, and in Bangladesh, nearly 80 percent of all diseases are related to water pollution, and arsenicosis is one of them. To prevent and control water pollution, the government has primarily enacted various laws and policies, including Environment Conservation Act 1995, Environment Protection Act (EPA) 1995, Environment Court Act 2000, and Bangladesh Water Act 2013. Despite numerous initiatives, legal loopholes, institutional weaknesses and lack of enforcement of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) are the main obstacles to preventing and controlling water pollution in Bangladesh. Therefore, this paper addresses the legal shortcomings and functions of respective bodies in preventing and controlling water pollution.

Radio pollution of space is connected with general ecological conditions resulting from world development. A practical aspect of the problem is related to the possibility of making radioastronomy observations of cosmic emissions and searching for signals from extraterrestrial civilizations over almost all of the entire radio spectrum. For this purpose, it was decided at WACR-79 to keep a quiet zone on the shielded side of the moon. Here we shall discuss the problem as it relates to an observatory in orbit. The vicinity of the L2 Lagrangian point of the earth-sun system is of particular interest as a location for such an observatory.

International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 20, no. 5 (March 1, 2023): 4396. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/ijerph20054396.

Abstract:
Environmental regulation (ER) is essential to preventing agricultural non-point source pollution (ANSP). Prior research has focused on the effect of ER on agricultural pollution (AP), but little is known about the impact of ER following digitization on preventing AP, particularly ANSP. Based on the spatial heterogeneity, the effect of ER was examined using a geographic detector tool with provincial panel data from 2010 to 2020 in rural China. The results show that ER is a driver in preventing ANSP, primarily because of the constraint on farmers’ behavior. Digitization positively affects the prevention of ANSP, as the new impetus for the infrastructure, technology, and capital is supported. The interaction between ER and digitalization forms a driving effect on the prevention of ANSP, indicating that digitalization constitutes the path dependence of farmers’ rule acquisition and perception and addresses the “free riding” dilemma of farmers’ participation, thereby enabling the incentive of ER to make agricultural production green and efficient. These findings indicate that the endogenous factor of digitization allowing ER is essential to preventing ANSP.

Abstract:
The demonstrable value of precision medicine, in the context of common environmental exposures, has scarcely been explored. This study evaluated the cost effectiveness of a preventive personalised intervention to reduce the adverse effect of air pollution in the context of asthma.A decision–analytic model was used to conduct a cost-utility analysis of prevention interventions in case of acute exposure to air pollution in mild asthma. Three different strategies, as follows, were compared: no preventive intervention; precision health strategy based on information from genotype testing, followed with treating high-risk patients; and prescribing additional medication to all mild asthmatics as a preventive intervention. The costs and quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) in the base case and alternative scenarios were obtained through probabilistic analysis. The results showed that the precision prevention intervention (anticipatory intervention for asthmatics, guided by relevant genetic abnormality, in the face of acute air pollution) is a cost-effective strategy compared with no such intervention, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of CAD 49 555 per QALY. Furthermore, this strategy is a dominant strategy compared with an intervention that prescribes medication indiscriminately to all asthmatics. The incorporation of genomic testing to stratify risk of asthmatics to pollution-driven exacerbations, and then tailoring a preventive intervention accordingly, may be cost effective relative to untailored methods. These results lend plausibility to the use of precision medicine for limiting asthma exacerbation in the context of air pollution and, potentially, other exposures.

Abstract:
"Environmental Education as a Viable Tool in Preventing Groundwater Pollution in Nigeria. The study focused on the use of environmental education, particularly at elementary level, to prevent groundwater degradation in Nigeria. This is especially germane because of the relative advantage of groundwater over other sources of water because of its near universal availability, dependability and low capital cost; groundwater remains the preferred source of water in most parts of the country. The development and management of the resource remains central to the success of rural and urban development programmes. Issues discussed in the research include importance of groundwater in meeting supply challenges imposed by ineffective and inefficient public water supply in Nigeria, groundwater resources and use in the country, sources of groundwater pollution, the need for environmental education and developments and techniques in environmental education. The research concluded by suggesting the need for environmental education, particularly at elementary level in addressing problems of environmental degradation and groundwater pollution in particular. This is considered appropriate because, once a good environmental attitude is developed in children, it will be very difficult for them to change their behavior negatively toward matters concerning the environment. Abstract:
ABSTRACT Despite the strong emphasis on oil spill cleanup in the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, the United States still faces a major gap in its defenses against oil pollution: the lack of adequate professional ship salvage capability. Availability of preventive salvage capability would contribute to the most effective way of preventing a marine environmental catastrophe: keeping the oil, or chemicals, in the ship. This is especially important in view of the increasing age of the world tanker fleet.

Abstract:
Introduction. The requirements of current regulatory documents guarantee the quality of drinking water leaving water treatment facilities (WTF). Hence, the water, coming into water supply networks, made of steel and cast iron pipes, made of gray-cast iron, is transported to consumers. Its quality must meet the standards of GOST R (Russian National Standard) 51232-98 “Drinking water” and SanPiN (Sanitary Regulations and Norms) 1.2.3685-21 “Hygienic standards and requirements to ensure the safety and (or) harmlessness of habitat factors for people”. The aim of the study is to analyze methods of preventing secondary pollution of drinking water in water supply networks, made of metal, and to identify the most effective and practically grounded method. Materials and methods. The concepts of electrochemical corrosion and microbiological corrosion of the inner surface of pipes were used to perform the analysis. Three methods of preventing the formation of a layer of deposits on the inner surface of steel and gray cast-iron pipes are used in the practice of water treatment and disinfection of drinking water: the method of using strong oxidants, such as chlorine and sodium hypochlorite, for the disinfection of drinking water; the method of increasing the pH level of drinking water; the method of using chemicals to ensure the formation of a microscopic film on the surface of layers of deposits to “slow down” electrochemical and microbiological corrosion processes on the inner surface of pipes. Results. The authors have identified a method for preventing the secondary pollution of drinking water, time-tested by the twelve years of practical use by the operator of WTF and drinking water supply and distribution networks made of metal. Conclusions. The effectiveness of the method of preventing the secondary pollution of drinking water through the use of new generation reagents, made of polyhexamethyleneguanidine hydrochloride, has been proven in practice.

Abstract:
The article highlights the problem of integrated monitoring of the aquatic environment, which is technical part of monitoring the aquatic environment. It includes the information management module, a module for analyzing and evaluating the aquatic environment, a module for early warning and forecasting the state of the aquatic environment, a module for integrated monitoring of the aquatic environment, a geographic information system (GIS) and a module of data monitoring. The above problem includes preventing the spread of pollution in areas and elements with potential safety hazards by periodically collecting information about each sub-area (information about pollution sources around each monitoring point). The quality of water at monitoring points is assessed, the trend of water quality deterioration is analyzed, a forecasting model is built that allows preventing dangerous processes in advance, identifying the area of pollution of the aquatic environment and the level of pollution, as well as accurately assessing the scale of the accident, timely processing the incoming information and taking the effective measures against the emergency consequences. Due to using the proposed platform integrated monitoring of the aquatic environment is improved.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The most important objectives of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have been improving maritime safety and preventing marine pollution. The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), which is responsible for coordinating IMO's activities in preventing and controlling marine pollution from ships, agreed that spills of 100 tons of oil or more should be regarded as “significant.”1 Analyses of significant oil spills (more than 100 metric tons) from ships have helped develop spill statistics, categories of spill incidents, geographical data on spills, and so on. Analyses for the past 10 years show that about 75 percent of the incidents were caused by grounding, collision, and breakdown; about 8 percent were caused by operational errors while loading, discharging, or washing tanks; and about 17 percent were due to rough weather, fire, and other causes. These analyses suggest that measures can be taken to prevent oil pollution from ships chiefly by improving safety standards for ship construction, equipment, and operation. This paper analyzes several incidents to understand the causes, actions taken, and results of oil spills in different circumstances and with different types of oil. It also examines IMO's achievements in combating oil pollution and the difficulties that have been met in implementing Annex I of the Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution by Oil, the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the Protocol of 1978 (MARPOL 73/78).
