Abstract:
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Noninvasive mechanical ventilation during the postoperative period (PO) following lung resection can restore residual functional capacity, improve oxygenation and spare the inspiratory muscles. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) associated with physiotherapy, compared with physiotherapy alone after lung resection. DESIGN AND SETTING: Open randomized clinical trial conducted in the clinical hospital of Universidade Estadual de Campinas. METHOD: Sessions were held in the immediate postoperative period (POi) and on the first and second postoperative days (PO1 and PO2), and the patients were reassessed on the discharge day. CPAP was applied for two hours and the pressure adjustment was set between 7 and 8.5 cmH2O. The oxygenation index (OI), Borg scale, pain scale and presence of thoracic drains and air losses were evaluated. RESULTS : There was a significant increase in the OI in the CPAP group in the POi compared to the Chest Physiotherapy (CP) group, P = 0.024. In the CP group the OI was significantly lower on PO1 (P = 0,042), than CPAP group. The air losses were significantly greater in the CPAP group in the POi and on PO1 (P = 0.001, P = 0.028), but there was no significant difference between the groups on PO2 and PO3. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups regarding the Borg scale in the POi (P < 0.001), but there were no statistically significant differences between the groups regarding the pain score. CONCLUSION: CPAP after lung resection is safe and improves oxygenation, without increasing the air losses through the drains. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT01285648

Abstract:

Abstract:
Objective: Post-operative ileus (POI) is a common and potentially serious complication after surgery. We assessed the incidence and identified predictors of POI in older surgical patients.Design: A retrospective observational study.Setting: University of California-San Francisco electronic medical record data.Participants: Opioid-naïve, noncancer patients, aged 65 and older, who underwent elective surgery in the period 2017-2019.Exposure: Administration of opioid analgesics per day of hospitalization in opioid naïve patients.Main outcomes measure: Incidence of POI and likelihood of developing POI.Results: In the study period, 3 percent of opioid naïve patients developed POI. Patients with POI used on average 197.1 oral morphine equivalents (OMEs) per day of hospitalization compared to 82.5 OME in patients without POI (p = 0.013). Yet, there were not statistically significant differences in post-operative pain scores between patients with and without POI. General surgery (p = 0.0031), length of surgery (p = 0.0031), and hospital length of stay (p 0.0001) were significant predictors of the risk for developing POI. Adjusted inpatient administration of more than 90 OME per day of hospitalization was associated with a four times greater risk for developing POI (p = 0.016). Developing POI was associated with 6.5 (95 percent confidence interval: 5.2-7.8) additional days of hospitalization among patients who developed POI compared to patients who did not develop POI (p 0.0001).Conclusions: Adjusted inpatient administration of more than 90 OME significantly increased the risk for developing POI in opioid-naïve older patients. Developing POI after surgery significantly increased the hospital length of stay. Optimizing inpatient administration of opioids may prevent opioid use-related POI and longer hospitalizations.

Abstract:
Some studies on the impact of traditional land use factors on traffic crashes do not take into account the limitations of spatial heterogeneity and spatial scale. To overcome these limitations this study presents a systematic method based on multi-scale geographically weighted regression (MGWR), which considers spatial heterogeneity and spatial scale differences of different influencing factors, to explore the influence of reclassified points-of-interest (POI) on traffic crashes occurring on weekdays and weekends. Experiments were conducted on 442 communities in Hankou, Wuhan, and the performance of the proposed method was compared against traditional methods based on ordinary least squares (OLS), spatial lag model (SLM), spatial error model (SEM), and geographically weighted regression (GWR). The experiments show that the proposed method yielded the best fitness of models and more accurate model results of local coefficient estimates. The highlights of the results are as follows: There are differences in the scale of the predictor variables. Residential POI, scenic POI, and transportation POI have a global effect on traffic crashes. Commercial service POI and industrial POI affects traffic crashes at the regional scale, while public service POI affects crashes at the local scale. The local coefficient estimates from residential POI and scenic POI have little impact on traffic crashes. During weekdays, more transportation POI in the entire study area leads to more traffic crashes. While on weekends, transportation POI has a significant positive effect on crashes only in some communities. The local coefficient estimates for industrial POI vary at different periods. Commercial service POI and public service POI may increase the risk of crashes in some communities, which can be observed on weekdays and weekends. Exploring the influence of POI on traffic crashes at different periods is helpful for traffic management strategies and in reducing traffic crashes.

Abstract:
Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation is attracting the increasing attention of researchers because of the rapid development of Location-based Social Networks (LBSNs) in recent years. Differing from other recommenders, who only recommend the next POI, this research focuses on the successive POI sequence recommendation. A novel POI sequence recommendation framework, named Dynamic Recommendation of POI Sequence (DRPS), is proposed, which models the POI sequence recommendation as a Sequence-to-Sequence (Seq2Seq) learning task, that is, the input sequence is a historical trajectory, and the output sequence is exactly the POI sequence to be recommended. To solve this Seq2Seq problem, an effective architecture is designed based on the Deep Neural Network (DNN). Owing to the end-to-end workflow, DRPS can easily make dynamic POI sequence recommendations by allowing the input to change over time. In addition, two new metrics named Aligned Precision (AP) and Order-aware Sequence Precision (OSP) are proposed to evaluate the recommendation accuracy of a POI sequence, which considers not only the POI identity but also the visiting order. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for POI sequence recommendation tasks, and it significantly outperforms the baseline approaches like Additive Markov Chain, LORE and LSTM-Seq2Seq.

Abstract:
With the advent of the era of rapid information expansion, the massive data backlog that exists on the Internet has led to a serious information overload problem, which makes recommendation systems a crucial part of human life. In particular, the Point-Of-Interest (POI) recommendation system has been applied to many real-life scenarios, such as life services and autonomous driving. Specifically, the goal of POI recommendation is to recommend locations that match their personalized preferences to users. In existing POI recommendation methods, people tend to pay more attention to the impact of temporal and spatial factors of POI on users, which will alleviate the problems of data sparsity and cold start in POI recommendation. However, this tends to ignore the differences among individual users, and considering only temporal and spatial attributes does not support fine-grained POI recommendations. To solve this problem, we propose a new Fine-grained POI Recommendation With Multi-Graph Convolutional Network (FP-MGCN). This model focuses on the content representation of POIs, captures users’ personalized preferences using semantic information from user comments, and learns fine-grained representations of users and POIs through the relationships between content–content, content–POI, and POI–user. FP-MGCN employs multiple embedded propagation layers and adopts information propagation mechanisms to model the higher-order connections of different POI-related relations for enhanced representation. Fine-grained POI is finally recommended to users through the three types of propagation we designed: content–content information propagation, content–POI information propagation, and POI–user information propagation. We have conducted detailed experiments on two datasets, and the results show that FP-MGCN has advanced performance and can alleviate the data sparsity problem in POI recommendation tasks.

Abstract:
Abstract Context: NACHT leucine-rich-repeat protein 5 (NALP5)/maternal antigen that embryo requires (MATER) is an autoantigen in hypoparathyroidism associated with autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type 1 (APS1) but is also expressed in the ovary. Mater is an autoantigen in experimental autoimmune oophoritis. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to determine the frequency of NALP5/MATER autoantibodies (NALP5/MATER-Ab) in women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and in patients with autoimmune Addison's disease (AAD) and to evaluate whether inhibin chains are a target for autoantibodies in POI. Methods: Autoantibodies against NALP5/MATER and inhibin chains-α and -βA were determined by radiobinding assays in 172 patients with AAD without clinical signs of gonadal insufficiency, 41 women with both AAD and autoimmune POI [steroidogenic cell autoimmune POI (SCA-POI)], 119 women with idiopathic POI, 19 patients with APS1, and 211 healthy control subjects. Results: NALP5/MATER-Ab were detected in 11 of 19 (58%) sera from APS1 patients, 12 of 172 (7%) AAD sera, 5 of 41 (12%) SCA-POI sera, 0 of 119 idiopathic POI sera and 1 of 211 healthy control sera (P < .001). None of 160 POI sera, including 41 sera from women with SCA-POI and 119 women with idiopathic POI, and none of 211 healthy control sera were positive for inhibin chain-α/βA autoantibodies. Conclusions: NALP5/MATER-Ab are associated with hypoparathyroidism in APS1 but are present also in patients with AAD and in women with SCA-POI without hypoparathyroidism. Inhibin chains do not appear to be likely candidate targets of autoantibodies in human POI.

Abstract:
Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a typical disorder of amenorrhea that lasts for a minimum of four months in women < 40 years old and is typically characterized by reduced estrogen levels and elevated serum concentrations of follicle-stimulating hormone. We collected urine samples from two participant cohorts from Gil Hospital of Gachon University (Incheon, Korea): a sequencing cohort of 19 participants (seven patients with POI (POI patients without Turner syndrome), seven patients with Turner syndrome (POI patients with Turner syndrome), and five control individuals (age-matched controls with confirmed ovarian sufficiency)) and a validation cohort of 46 participants (15 patients with POI, 11 patients with Turner syndrome, and 20 control individuals). Among differentially expressed miRNAs, hsa-miR-4516 was significantly upregulated in patients with POI in both cohorts, independent of the presence of Turner syndrome. Moreover, the upregulation of miR-4516 was confirmed in the ovary—but not in the uterus—of a cyclophosphamide and busulfan-induced POI mouse model. This was accompanied by a decrease in STAT3 protein level, a predicted target of miR-4516, via miRTarBase2020. Our study provides compelling evidence that miR-4516 is highly expressed in patients with POI and POI mouse models, suggesting that miR-4516 is a diagnostic marker of POI.

Abstract:
The affordability and availability of fast motion cameras presents an ideal opportunity to build computer systems that create real-time feed- back loops. These systems can enable users to learn at a faster rate than traditional systems, as well as present a more engaging experience. In this dissertation, I document the development and evaluation of a real- time audio and visual feedback system for geometric poi manipulation. The goal of the system is to present an experiential and objectively su- perior learning tool when compared to traditional learning techniques in the object manipulation community. For the evaluation, I conduct an experiment that compares the feedback training system with traditional learning techniques in the object manipulation community. The results suggest that the feedback system presents a more engaging experience than traditional mirror feedback training, and conclude that further re- search is warranted.

Abstract:
Hawaiian poi pounders are unique artifacts which have received inadequate attention from the archaeological community. Three varieties of poi pounders are recognized today: the common knobbed form, ring pounders, and stirrup pounders. These artifacts have never been systematically analyzed, and a great deal of variability exists within the three categories. This research utilizes paradigmatic classification to examine stylistic variability in poi pounder morphology. The seriation method is used to illuminate patterns of interaction and transmission through time and space among Hawaiian groups. Functional analyses are carried out to help explain processes of selection and interaction between poi pounders and the environment. The spatial extent of this research is limited to the island of Kauaʻi, which is historically known for its distinctive poi pounder forms.

The task of points-of-interest (POI) recommendations has become an essential feature in location-based social networks. However it remains a challenging problem because of specific constraints of these networks. In this thesis I investigate new approaches to solve the personalized POI recommendation problem. Three main contributions are proposed in this work. The first contribution is a new matrix factorization model that integrates geographical and temporal influences. This model is based on a specific processing of geographical data. The second contribution is an innovative solution against the implicit feedback problem. This problem corresponds to the difficulty to distinguish among unvisited POI the actual "unknown" from the "negative" ones. Finally the third contribution of this thesis is a new method to generate recommendations with large-scale datasets. In this approach I propose to combine a new geographical clustering algorithm with users’ implicit social influences in order to define local and global mobility scales

Abstract:

The text establishes a debate between the work of Clarice Lispector and theories of philosophical thought of Gilles Deleuze and F?lix Guattari , watching from the meeting of the authors, the agency of a ?deed Glide? regarding the various discursive interrelationships of chronic clariciana. Thus, the concept of ?face? of the French philosophers as ?abstract machine? subsidize our discussion at the prospect of ?deformable combinations of gears? of the genre. It is observed also in this context the setting of a literary cartography which sketches out an everyday poiesis in the movements of deterritorialisation and re-signification of multiple images established by the author.

Abstract:
This thesis aims to evaluate measurement techniques for delivery precision at Holmen Paper (HP). Delivery precision is an important KPI for a business, because it gives an indication of how well the company’s supply chain is performing. At HP, the Operation and Logistics division, wants to use the result to assess that if they are doing a good job planning HP’s production and transportation. The purpose of the thesis: “The purpose of the thesis is to determine how the KPI delivery precision ought to be measured for various order types in Holmen Paper’s supply chain.” A great deal of literature was initially reviewed on the subject of delivery precision, and different sources suggested alternative ways in which it may be determined. To understand the logistics and information flow, two flow-charts where constructed. This was done in order to obtain a holistic overview of HP’s order-delivery process, and furthermore, to see where the required data could be retrieved from the system. After evaluating the supply chain, it was concluded that the SCOR models’ pre-defined Key Performance Indicator Perfect Order Fulfillment (POF) and Perfect Order Index (POI), were the best way to measure the delivery precision. Both theories are well known in the logistics sector and both are built upon lower level metrics. The metrics measure if an order is delivered satisfactorily to a customer, according the parameters of time, quantity, quality and documentation. The thesis, however, rejected the parameter of documentation in dialogue with HP (and because the parameter has little to do with the operators work at Operation and Logistics). Data was collected from HP’s database in an attempt to measure the delivery precision according to both the theories. However, it was concluded that the calculated value was unreliable. This was mainly due to fact that the data required did not exist, and the data that did exist was not reliable. The data was seen as unreliable because there was no information of when the data was collected along the supply chain. Therefore, the thesis presents a model that will help HP implement the KPI delivery precision in the future. At the completion of the study, it was concluded that HP, initially, needs to implement a system to save data regarding the reason and source of order modifications. Additionally, it is suggested that HP should try to measure the delivery precision as close to the customer as possible. Currently, the data required to do this does not exist. To obtain this data, HP needs to implement some sort of receipt when the customer receives the goods.

He, Lijun. "Identification of some microorganisms isolated from poi and characterization of the biological properties of one lactic acid bacteria." Thesis, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10125/7032.

Full text
Abstract:
Lactic acid producing microorganisms from poi and the biological properties of one lactic acid bacteria are studied in this work. Based on phenotypical analysis, five bacterial strains isolated from fresh poi are identified as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactococcus lactis lactis, Leuconostoc citreum and Leuconostoc lactis individually. The gas-producing bacterial strain first identified as Lactobacillus acidophilus is finally identified as Weissella confusa by combining the results of phenotypical analysis and genotypical analysis. Acid tolerance of Weisselfa confusa is examined by exposing the bacterial cells to MRS broth at different pH with/without adaptation. When exposed to acid stress, the bacterial strain can survive at pH 3.70 with a decreased growth rate. No bacteria are detected at pH 3.0. However, the survival rate of the bacterial cells at pH 3.0 increases by adapting the cells at pH 4.46. Results suggest that the bacteria can grow in acidic condition and the acid tolerance is adaptable. The effect of the taro base on the growth of Weissella confusa is investigated by examining the growth of the bacteria in four kinds of taro/sucrose mixture (10% taro, 3% taro, 3% taro plus 1.3% sucrose, 3% taro plus 3.2 sucrose). All four media supported the fast growth of the bacteria during the incubation period and the pH of the taro base dropped fast, ranging from 3.39 to 3.73 after three-day incubation. The growth curves of W. confusa in taro/sucrose base (3% taro plus 1.3%sucrose) and acid/heat treated poi were established with the bacterial count and the pH of the sample every day. The bacteria grew rapidly in both of the medium. These preliminary results seem to indicate that a taro-based fermented food is feasibly produced by monoculture with W. confusa as starter culture. In addition, a different pH change was observed in these two taro-based media. These results suggest that the acid/heat treatment and solid content had some effect on the pH change of the taro medium. Based on genotypical analysis, the bacterial strain isolated from sour poi is identified as Lactobacillus p/antarum and the yeast-like microorganism isolated from sour poi is identified as Candida tropicalis. Candida trapicalis can ferment glucose, fructose, sucrose, and starch. Their existence may explain the acid production at the late stage of the fermentation and the consumption of starch. This work helps to elucidate the fermentation process of poi and improve the production by identifying pure cultures of starters. In addition, this work suggests Weisselfa confusa may be a potential bacterial strain in food fermentation.

Abstract: In the context of rigorous models for satellite images orientation, two questions arise for the full explorationof the geometric potential. The first question relates to the most accurate possible knowledge of the exterior orientation parameters (EOP) and the interior orientation parameters (IOP). The IOP values are usually estimated by calibration in the laboratory, before the launch of the satellite. However, accelerations and drastic environmental changes imposed during the launch of the satellite, as well as the thermal influence of the sun when it is in orbit can cause changes in nominal IOP values. Thus, the images orientation with the on orbit estimate of IOP is recommended. The second question concerns the platform model to be used in rigorous modeling, since the satellite positions during the imaging should be estimated with maximum accuracy. This research proposes the use of the UCL platform model and of the UCL platform model added of the orbital perturbation from the Earth's gravitational attraction, due to its polar flattening. This platform model was called J2 model. Both models have been adapted to using coordinates referenced to the Terrestrial Reference System. Bundle block adjustments of three PRISM-ALOS images triplets with and without on orbit IOP estimation using the two mentioned platform models were evaluated. From the results it was found that the use of J2 platform model provided no significant differences in accuracies in relation to the use of UCL model. It was also found that the on orbit estimate of IOP in the bundle block adjustments provided significant improvements of accuracy for the altimetric components. In the planimetrics resulting accuracies, on orbit estimate of IOP provided improvement in the order of decimeter. In order to analyze the usability of the estimated IOP on the orientation of other images are not participants in the estimation process, the estimated IOP with the first triplet were used to the interior orientation in the bundle adjustment of the third triplet images. As a result it was observed a decrease of accuracy in planimetric component and a slight improvement inaltimetric componentrelative to the bundle adjustment of the third triplet images with on orbit IOP estimation.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: A meta-analysis of cross-sectional, case-control and cohort studies (S) was conducted to explore whether women with POI/POF (P) could increase risk of depression, anxiety, and poor quality of life (O). Intervention studies (I) are eligible only if pre-intervention data were available(I) and the comparator(C) of this meta-analysis was people who do not suffer from POI (age-matched). Condition being studied: Several studies have been conducted to show that POI affects the quality of life of patients, of which psychological and psychosocial factors cannot be ignored as a part. Most studies have shown that POI patients are more prone to negative emotions such as depression and anxiety than normal people, but some studies have also shown that normal POI patients are psychologically indistinguishable from normal people. Therefore, meta-analysis is needed to determine the effect of POI on psychological factors and to better guide the clinical treatment plan.
