Abstract:
A prototype RF probe card is assembled to test the feasibility of Pogo-pins as robust probe tips for the automized testing of multiple-port millimeter-wave circuits. A custom-made ceramic housing machined from a low-loss dielectric holds an array of 157 Pogo-pins, each with 2.9 mm-length in fixed positions. The ceramic housing is then mounted onto a probe-card PCB for power-loss measurements on two signal-ground Pogo-pin connections arbitrarily selected from the array. The probing results on a test circuit with a simple thru-line indicate a successful power transfer with a small insertion loss of less than 0.5 dB per single Pogo-pin connection up to 25 GHz. A new probe card design using shorter Pogo-pins is being prepared to extend the operation frequency to beyond 40 GHz.

Abstract:
A design for a millimeter wave RF probe card that removes resonance is proposed. The designed probe card optimizes the position of the ground surface and the signal pogo pins to resolve the resonance and signal loss issues that occur when connecting a dielectric socket and a PCB. At millimeter wave frequencies, the height of the dielectric socket and pogo pin matches the length of half a wavelength, allowing the socket to act as a resonator. When the leakage signal from the PCB line is coupled to the 2.9 mm high socket with pogo pins, resonance at a frequency of 28 GHz is generated. The probe card uses the ground plane as a shielding structure to minimize this resonance and radiation loss. The importance of the signal pin location is verified via measurements in order to address the discontinuity caused by field polarity switching. A probe card fabricated using the proposed technique exhibits an insertion loss performance of −8 dB up to 50 GHz and eliminates resonance. A signal with an insertion loss of −3.1 dB can be transmitted to a system-on-chip in a practical chip test.

Abstract:
In this study, we present the Diverse Holding and Release Mechanism Can Satellite (DHRM CanSat) platform developed by the Space Technology Synthesis Laboratory (STSL) at Chosun University, South Korea. This platform focuses on several types of holding and release mechanisms (HRMs) for application in deployable appendages of nanosatellites. The objectives of the DHRM CanSat mission are to demonstrate the design effectiveness and functionality of the three newly proposed HRMs based on the burn wire triggering method, i.e., the pogo pin-type HRM, separation nut-type HRM, and Velcro tape-type HRM, which were implemented on deployable dummy solar panels of the CanSat. The proposed mechanisms have many advantages, including a high holding capability, simultaneous constraints in multi-plane directions, and simplicity of handling. Additionally, each mechanism has distinctive features, such as spring-loaded pins to initiate deployment, a plate with a thread as a nut for a high holding capability, and a hook and loop fastener for easy access to subsystems of the satellite without releasing the holding constraint. The design effectiveness and functional performance of the proposed mechanisms were demonstrated through an actual flight test of the DHRM CanSat launched by a model rocket.

Abstract:
JESI APRIANI LATEKA. Analysis of Factors Affecting Pine Gum Production in Poso District. Supervised by JANTJE D. PRANG as main supervisor and TOHAP MANURUNG as a co-supervisor. Poso Regency is a center of productivity for pine resin in Central Sulawesi, so it is very important to know the factors that influence the production of pine sap in Poso District. Referring to several previous studies, the accumulation of various factors can cause a problem or an event triggered by various previous events, to predict the use of multiple linear regression equations that can summarize these various factors. The data used in this study are data on the land area of each group (X1 ), the number of group workers (X2) and the number of hours of group work (X3). Based on the results of multiple linear regression analysis there is a symptom of multicollinearity between the variables of the number of workers and the number of hours worked, therefore to overcome this one variable is taken, namely the number of workers. The results of the analysis show that the variable area of land and the number of labor simultaneously affect the production of pine sap with a determination coefficient of 93%. Abstract:
Ventricular fibrillation (VF) occurs frequently during myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) and must then be terminated by electrical defibrillation. We have investigated the impact of VF/defibrillation on infarct size (IS) or area of no reflow (NR) without and with ischemic conditioning interventions. Anesthetized pigs were subjected to 60/180 min of coronary occlusion/reperfusion. VF, as identified from the ECG, was terminated by intrathoracic defibrillation. The area at risk (AAR), IS, and NR were determined by staining techniques (patent blue, triphenyltetrazolium chloride, and thioflavin-S). Four experimental protocols were analyzed: I/R ( n = 49), I/R with ischemic preconditioning (IPC; n = 22), I/R with ischemic postconditioning (POCO; n = 22), or I/R with remote IPC (RIPC; n = 34). The incidence of VF was not different between I/R (44%), IPC (45%), POCO (50%), and RIPC (33%). IS was reduced by IPC (23 ± 12% of AAR), POCO (31 ± 16%), and RIPC (22 ± 13%, all P < 0.05 vs. I/R: 41 ± 12%). NR was not different between protocols (I/R: 17 ± 15% of AAR, IPC: 15 ± 18%, POCO: 25 ± 16%, and RIPC: 18 ± 17%). In pigs with defibrillation, IS was 50% larger than in pigs without defibrillation but independent of the number of defibrillations. Analysis of covariance confirmed the established determinants of IS, i.e., AAR, residual blood flow during ischemia (RMBFi), and a conditioning protocol, and revealed VF/defibrillation as a novel covariate. VF/defibrillation in turn was associated with larger AAR and lower RMBFi. Lack of dose-response relation between IS and the number of defibrillations excluded direct electrical injury as the cause of increased IS. Obviously, AAR size and RMBFi account for both IS and the incidence of VF. IS and NR are mechanistically distinct phenomena. NEW & NOTEWORTHY Ventricular fibrillation/defibrillation is associated with increased infarct size. Electrical injury is unlikely the cause of such association, since there is no dose-response relation between infarct size and number of defibrillations. Ventricular fibrillation, in turn, is associated with a larger area at risk and lower residual blood flow.

Abstract:

For high-frequency measurement, the RF probe is weak due to its tiny pins. In addition, it is necessary to purchase the expensive SOLT calibration substrate. To reduce the high cost, the study developed a ground-signal-ground microwave probe of 1 mm pitch with pogo pins. Because the pins are stronger so as to increase measurement efficiency without damaging the pins. Furthermore, we designed an SOLT calibration substrate made of FR4 for this probe. The insertion loss of a trace on the PCB was measured by the probe to be within ±1.2 dB and return loss less than -20 dB within 0 to 10 GHz after calibration. Those parameters needed for the probe were obtained by using CST microwave studio, VNA, TDR. The correct compensation of capacitance and inductance could suppress measurement ripples. For return loss, the correct value of capacitance and inductance can improve the trend of curve effectively. The discrepancy of capacitance and inductance did not influence the insertion loss below 5 GHz. The more accurate the compensated values are, the more stable the higher frequency measurement results are. The results of measurement were even similar to RF probe upon 8 GHz by using the correct valve, which was directly measured from the Open and Short model on substrate. This designed SOLT substrate with correct parameters made the calibration results of RF probe successfully similar to CS-10 calibration substrate below 10 GHz.

Abstract:

Abstract:
A failure mechanism of pogo-type probe pin is investigated. A probing tester with actuation capable in three-axes is used to simulate the actual inspection process experimentally. Force required to break in surface oxides and develop electrical contact is measured. Contact resistance history reveals that pins mating to Sn surfaces fail earlier than SnPb surfaces. Through periodic inspection of pin using microprobe/EDS as a function of probing count, the general root cause of pin failure is turned out to be pin tip wear out associated with Sn oxide growth on its surface. The cause of earlier failure of the pin probing matte Sn surface is identified as severe wear out by a rough and abrasive characteristic of matte Sn.
