Abstract:
Doctoral thesis in detail and comprehensively deals with mechanic of incipient bedload motion for gravel-bed rivers. This study based on theoretical knowledge, experimental researches, numerical models and field survey extends present knowledge concerning with incipient bedload motion and sediment transport at small relative height and hydraulically rough surface bed for turbulent unaerated free surface flow. Incipient bedload motion and sediment transport have been determined for homogeneous and inhomogeneous bed materials. For homogeneous bed material the velocity profiles have been described by different methods in near the bed. Further, hydraulic flow resistance has been evaluated. In the case of inhomogeneous bed material, static armouring and influence of surface layer sorting on hydraulic roughness have been investigated. The correctness of obtained knowledge has been confirmed on the object of nature-inspired river widening. Results shown, among others, that incipient bedload motion does not depend on relative height or final armouring of surface layer to what extend hydraulic roughness is influenced.

Abstract:

This thesis is an overview of American song and opera repertoire from the beginning of the 20th century to the present and is conceived as an initial, brief look into this, in the Czech context still unknown, repertoire. This overview is meant to fill in information which is missing from Czech musicology and is meant primarily for singers wishing to include the works of American composers in their repertoire. The thesis is supposed to illustrate both the diversity and the general character of American song and opera repertoire and does so through an examination of the national character of American classical music, a brief history of American opera, a division of song composers into stylistic categories, and a selection of twenty-one American composers the singer should know.

Abstract:
Marek FAPŠO, Enlightenment as the Origin of National Revival?, dissertaion, Institute of Czech History, Charles University, Prague 2019 Dissertation aims a goal to catch an age between 1760-1790, which is usually in the Bohemian Lands taken as the so called beginning of the National Revival. Methodologically the dissertation stands upon tradition of Michel Foucault's research and environmental history. Firstly, it brings synchronic connections of phenomena instead of searching for diachronic predecessors and followers of so called Enlightenment. Secondly, the dissertation brings up the reflections of nature, landscape and environment, which became an important issue in the second half of the 18th century. One of the leitmotivs is the relationship between usually disconnected realms of natural and human sciences. The work is divided into three main parts. The first one is focused on reflections of languages, their natural background and classifications related to Carl Linne's taxonomy. Then the second deals with long forgotten concept of Naturgeschichte forging together natural and historical perspective. A topic is also devoted to new-born fields of expertise - archaeology and critical historiography - that have a special relation to landscape as well. In the last part the notion of nature and...

Abstract:

Abstract:
Diploma thesis " Karel Laznovsky's Death as the Beginning of Revision of the Protectorate Journalist's Role" deals with a group of protectorate journalists who collaborated with German occupying forces. It is focused on the death of one of the most significant activist journalist Karel Laznovsky, who died after the official audience with premier Alois Elias in October 1941. For a few days this case became a central subject matter of all protectorate newspapers. The German activism was present in their pages dramatically and the print propaganda was intensified a lot. The press identified the person of Karel Laznovsky as an exemplary journalist and therefore he became some sort of icon of journalistic activism. The thesis analyses articles that were published after the death of this collaborator and its ambition is to give a general definition of activist journalist in accordance with how he was described in legal protectorate press in those days. Thus it could contribute to better understanding of how the action of pro-German journalists was presented in legal newspapers, in what ways it was justified and how the journalistic profession was appreciated in general.

Abstract:
The presented study analyses on the example of Bohemia the question in what extent the creation of oppida (and more broadly the cultural transformation of the Transalpine world in the recent La Tène period) were influenced by Mediterranean impulses and to what extent they may be on the other hand considered as a local phenomenon. The historical and chronological background are studied in detail, the question itself is approached by an analysis of the corpus of Mediterranean imports in central Europe intended to evaluate the role of Bohemia (within the central European context) in the contacts with the Mediterranean. In the concluding chapter the oppida and their settlement systems are confronted with the Mediterranean towns. The contacts with the Mediterranean turn out to have been constant and significant for the Transalpine word, the oppida, however, seem to be a largely local phenomenon. In the beginning seems like the editors don't know hO\,v each actor in the war is aligned with the international powers and gives a rather impartial account of the events. Mural paintings in the urban environment in 16th and beginning of 17th century has been rather an ignored topic, however its artistic interpretation and iconographic concept says a lot about the life of residents during Renaissance. The art phenomenon in this work was studied on the borderland between Bohemia and Moravia, currently the place of Havlíčkův Brod, Pelhřimov and Jihlava districts. At the same time, this division facilitated systematic research and listing of surviving paintings. First, the study focuses on the summary of a colourful historical situation in the given place and religious affairs related in particular, but not only to the New Utraquism and Lutheranism which followed up local Utraquist foundations from the Hussite Era. One of the aims of the work is to study the relationship between religion and artistic or iconographic interpretation of paintings. Selected artistic sources related in particular to the graphic works of that time play also important role. This is why other chapters are dedicated to the study of the theory of art of mural paintings, urban houses abroad and in the concerned location, study of sacral interiors within the context of the Saxon environment, and the last chapter deals with the thematic and iconographic study of collected paintings. Abstract:
The presented degree work sets the aim of introducing one of typical displays of aristocratic life - horse riding and horse racing ? in the actual example of primogeniture and secondo geniture of the noble family Schwarzenberg in the 19th and early 20th centuries. As the basic information sources there were used aristocratic large estates collections, some sources of personal character and, last but not least, iconographic sources. The first part of work deals with the horse-breeding at aristocratic estates. It acquaints with the organization of horse raising on Schwarzenberg horse-breeding farms, raised horse breeds, and clarifies the purposes of raising such animals. Above all, this part asks the question to what extent the nobleman himself participated in the organization of horse breeding and what personal relationship to these creatures he experienced. The second part introduces in detail some activities which brought gentlefolk diversion and enjoyment, especially horse races, equestrianism, carousels, and of course, hunts and hunting pastime. All these activities were the privilege of upper classes, but in the 19th century they greatly influenced the other social classes and became the base for modern equestrianism we know today. The last part dwells on horses with relation to the arts. This noble animal has always been the Muse of artists and the symbol of nobility, elegance, speed and power. Till now in the castle collections we have been tracing a large number of horse portraits (either with their noble owners or without them) and horse- riding scenes. Even the horse equipment - harness, sledge or horse-drawn couches - were reflected in arts. And such equipment could have been displayed as a work of art in noble family galleries, or at least created the period atmosphere of magnificent winter man?ges.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to map out the beginning of literature written in the domestic language, i.e. Galician-Portuguese and later Portuguese, as it started to separate from works written in Latin. The first part of the thesis describes how the Portuguese language evolved from Latin, which in turn evolved from the Indo-European language. A colloquial form of Latin began to emerge, splitting later into several dialects. The Galician- Portuguese language appears and individual Romance languages start to form. The new Portuguese language undergoes a period of formation, with the first phase being the Old Portuguese, followed by the classical period, until Portuguese became the language we know now. The second part of the thesis describes the formation and early phases of Portuguese writing, both literary and non-literary, including a list of genres that prevailed during the beginnings of Portuguese literature, and a selection of excerpts of the oldest texts and their translations. Key words: Old Portuguese, old texts, evolution of language, Portuguese philology, translation

This piece of work was meant to be countinuous to my bachelor's thesis. In that essay I was dealing with the history of Czech electronic dance music in general. This time I focused just on Prague and surrounding area. The Czech capital was deeply influenced by presence of tourists. After the Velvet revolution, they were suddenly able to visit Prague. And as they they were already familiar with electronic music, they could help to spread it here. The situation in Prague is also compared with the rest of the world (western civilization). In the first part of the essay, I describe the qualitative research and the method I have used, which is the oral history. I also enclose a brief vocabulary of frequently used terms that are not very well known to the greater audience, I suppose. The last part is the analysis of the interviews itself. The interviews were done with important narrators.

Abstract:
Three main sources of this Dissertation Thesis are three Old Czech translation works, Life of Christ the Lord, Passional and Life of Holy Fathers. All three mentioned works belong to the first prose written in Old Czech. The object of research is their lexical reserve seen from various angles of view. The basis of analysis is a reciprocal comparison of vocabulary of these three above mentioned Old Czech relics. Attention is also given to lexical terms of newer paraphrases of Life of Christ the Lord and Passional that in comparison with the oldest preserved works are showing the development of Old Czech during 14th and 15th centuries. Examined lexis is being also confronted with developmental processes of Old Czech vocabulary. The special attention in particular texts is given to verbal procreation; the part of analysis is a characteristic of emergent or eventually existent terminology; phraseology is being elaborated separately and uniquely or sporadically incident lexemes (hapaxes, etc) that appear in the beginning of Old Czech written prose are also not being omitted. Separately observed texts are incorporated into a more general culturally-historical frame.

Abstract:
This work whishes to open phenomenological paradigm in child psychology. It is inspired by the philosophy of Maurice Merleau-Ponty. It, at first, foreshadows his thinking, which is not very extended in czech psychology. So, it discusses the relationship between psychology and phenomenology too. Then it tends to put down how it is possible to understand some aspects of infant perception. The pivotal part of the work is a consideration about the nature of the "beginings" of our life and about how their conception influences developmental psychology at all. We try to find out what gives a fashion and direction to the development of man. Hier, it takes advantage also from others fenomenological authors. The result of this work is summary of the phenomenological view on child and it's development. It suggestes non-privative conception of child and it's world. It couldn't be uderstanded only as an imperfect wolrd of adults. We show, that the task of the other people is rather "to introduce" a child to the world.

My diploma thesis focuses on including students from foreign countries in the first grade of primary school and problems related to these questions. It deals with Czech and foreign educational systems, which could help teachers to understand different approaches of parents from foreign countries and their children to education. This thesis explains multicultural differences, which could support better communication with students from foreign countries and their parents as well. This work offers possibilities of subvention of children from foreign countries in the process of including in the Czech educational system. On the basis of research it is obvious, that students from foreign countries are mostly successfully adapted to the educational system. Rarely there are problems with language boundaries or social and emotional development. Teachers consider admission of a student from a foreign country as a benefit but they often point out that it also means a harder work for them. In case of some difficulties teachers often cooperate with non-profit organisation Meta.

Abstract:
This thesis is chronologically related to the Bachelor's work ca11ed "Tumultuous Events in Eastern-Bohemian Mass-Media" and was pleaded for in the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Pardubice. The thesis deals with a role and position of regional journalists in years from 1968 up to 1969 and a manner of selection of new staff for vacant (journalistic) positions as well as effects of staff changes on work of regional mass-media and a Eastern-Bohemian branch of the Union of Czech Journalists. At the beginning of the period called "Normalization" the experienced and impartial journalists were excluded from mass-media because they declined to reduce themselves to the function of a political worker. The pressure brought by totalitarian power to bear on journalists was so much strong that every journalist had to knowingly accept a role of an agitator for the leading role of the (communistic) Party. If the journalist didn't submit he or she had to leave for non-journalistic jobs, mostly working jobs. The same development occurred in the regional mass-media as well as state-wide mass-media and a little bit later it happened to journalists (outside workers, sport columns) who hadn' t engaged in the year 1968 in respect to their specialization. In the first wave their...
