Abstract:
This paper outlines the application and usefulness of a software platform that enables hydrologists to develop custom functionality in a new hydrological modelling tool, eWater Source, designed for water resources planning and management. The flexible architecture of the software allows incorporation of third-party components as plug-ins to add new capabilities that are not built in. Plug-ins can be developed to adapt the software to suit the needs of hydrologists with modest software development knowledge. This can result in an improvement in workflow and efficiencies. In addition, modellers can use plug-ins to integrate hydrological process and management models that may not be able to be built in the normal tool. The paper introduces the plug-ins functionality of the modelling tool, its design and applications with three example plug-ins to demonstrate. These are: (1) a data processing plug-in to upscale urban environment models; (2) a management rule plug-in to calculate loss allowances for the Pioneer Valley; and (3) a model plug-in to integrate into a river system model. For planning purposes, the use of plug-ins is thought to be critical for modelling management rules for various jurisdictions since these can vary significantly between jurisdictions and change over time.

Abstract:
The thermal property of textile structures plays an important role in the understanding of thermal behaviour of the clothing. In this work, user-friendly GUI plug-ins have been developed to generate both microscopic and mesoscopic scale models for finite element analysis. The plug-ins were developed by using Abaqus/CAE as a platform. The GUI Plug-ins enable automatic model generation and prediction of the effective thermal conductivity of woven composite and microencapsulated Phase Change Materials composites via finite element analysis by applying boundary conditions. The predicted effective thermal conductivities from plug-ins have been compared with the results obtained from published experimental research work based on an established mathematical model. They are correlated well. Moreover, the influence of phase change materials on heat transfer behaviour of microencapsulated Phase Change Materials composites was further analysed.

Abstract:
In this paper we discuss the implementation of the state-of-theart end-to-end response-time and delay analysis as two individual plug-ins for the existing industrial tool suite Rubus-ICE. The tool suite is used for the development of software for vehicular embedded systems by several international companies. We describe and solve the problems encountered and highlight the experiences gained during the process of implementation, integration and evaluation of the analysis plug-ins. Finally, we provide a proof of concept by modeling the automotive-application case study with the existing industrial model (the Rubus Component Model), and analyzing it with the implemented analysis plug-ins.

Abstract:
AbstractMatsuda et al. (Matsuda, K., Hu, Z., Nakano, K., Hamana, M. & Takeichi, M. (2007) Bidirectionalization transformation based on automatic derivation of view complement functions. In Proceedings of the International Conference on Functional Programming. ACM Press, pp. 47–58) and Voigtländer (Voigtländer, J. (2009) Bidirectionalization for free! In Proceedings of Principles of Programming Languages. ACM Press, pp. 165–176) have introduced two techniques that given a source-to-view function provide an update propagation function mapping an original source and an updated view back to an updated source, subject to standard consistency conditions. Previously, we developed a synthesis of the two techniques, based on a separation of shape and content aspects (Voigtländer, J., Hu, Z., Matsuda, K. & Wang, M. (2010) Combining syntactic and semantic bidirectionalization. In Proceedings of the International Conference on Functional Programming. ACM Press, pp. 181–192). Here we carry that idea further, reworking the technique of Voigtländer such that any shape bidirectionalizer (based on the work of Matsuda et al. (2007) or not) can be used as a plug-in, to good effect. We also provide a data-type-generic account, enabling wider reuse, including the use of pluggable bidirectionalization itself as a plug-in.

Abstract:
We introduce ProjectQ, an open source software effort for quantum computing. The first release features a compiler framework capable of targeting various types of hardware, a high-performance simulator with emulation capabilities, and compiler plug-ins for circuit drawing and resource estimation. We introduce our Python-embedded domain-specific language, present the features, and provide example implementations for quantum algorithms. The framework allows testing of quantum algorithms through simulation and enables running them on actual quantum hardware using a back-end connecting to the IBM Quantum Experience cloud service. Through extension mechanisms, users can provide back-ends to further quantum hardware, and scientists working on quantum compilation can provide plug-ins for additional compilation, optimization, gate synthesis, and layout strategies.

Abstract:
There is an increasing number of software packages to analyse biological experimental data in the R environment. In particular, Bioconductor, a repository of curated R packages, is one of the most comprehensive resources for bioinformatics and biostatistics. The use of these packages is increasing, but it requires a basic understanding of the R language, as well as the syntax of the specific package used. The availability of user graphical interfaces for these packages would decrease the learning curve and broaden their application. Here, we present a Cytoscape plug-in termed Cyrface that allows Cytoscape plug-ins to connect to any function and package developed in R. Cyrface can be used to run R packages from within the Cytoscape environment making use of a graphical user interface. Moreover, it links the R packages with the capabilities of Cytoscape and its plug-ins, in particular network visualization and analysis. Cyrface’s utility has been demonstrated for two Bioconductor packages (CellNOptR and DrugVsDisease), and here we further illustrate its usage by implementing a workflow of data analysis and visualization. Download links, installation instructions and user guides can be accessed from the Cyrface homepage (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/saezrodriguez/cyrface/).

Abstract:
The paper presents the new agent framework XJAF and its application on distributed library catalogues. The framework is based on the Java EE technology and uses the concept of the plug-ins for implementation of the basic framework components. One important plug-in of the agent framework has been introduced into this system: the inter-facilitator connection plug-in, which defines how multiple facilitators form an agent network. The inter-facilitator connection plug-in is particularly important in both design and implementation phases in the field of distributed library catalogues. In order to substantiate the above statement, the framework has been used for implementation of the agent-based central catalogue of the library information system BISIS. Also, the framework has been used to implement the agent-based metadata harvesting system for the networked digital library of theses and dissertations (NDLTD). Both systems have been implemented at the University of Novi Sad.

Abstract:
The aim of the SPACE project is to develop a mobile test bed that can position to within centimetres in all conditions and environments. To achieve this goal, a number of different positioning technologies have to be integrated together including GNSS, INS, pseudolites and other technologies such as Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth ranging. The integration of these sensors is achieved by the development of a ‘plug and play’ filter that will optimally combine measurements from each sensor to form an accurate position solution. The filter has been designed so that the sensors are integrated at the measurement level wherever possible, so partial measurements from different systems can be used together. This paper describes the development of the plug and play filter, focussing in particular on how the states are defined, how the measurements are used, and how a generic filter can be developed that can integrate all types of positioning sensor. Some early results from the filter are shown integrating GPS, INS and simulated measurements from an Ultra Wideband system. A prototype version of the mobile test bed is also described.

Abstract:
The article examines children’s clothes in the practices of everyday life in day care. The data for the article are drawn from an ethnography of three- to seven-year-old children’s day care groups in a day care centre intended for children of shift-working parents in southern Finland. Rather than focusing on the relations between identity, representation and clothing, the article examines what clothes do in the everyday practices of day care. Clothes are seen, first, as mediating perception, and, second, as taking part in and maintaining affective everyday practices. The effects of wearing clothes are analysed using the concept of plug-ins by Latour and that of affordances proposed by Gibson. The plug-ins detect the ways in which objects transmit selfhood, while affordances describe the relation between body and environment in perception. Through the analysis of everyday practices of wearing clothing, clothes are seen as connectors. They enhance, diminish or expand possibilities for perception, action and affective practices in which children engage, thereby altering the children’s ways of being. The article proposes that the wearing of clothing plays a role in constituting selfhood outside of mere representations.

So, a novel method constructing cloud system in flexible SaaS patterns is proposed. Following the guidance of flexible thought, the method introduces a series of steps containing service division, constructing service level and so on to help developer analysis and design the whole structure of services and its extensible functions, then, by means of software development based on plug-in and dynamically assembling framework Equinox, services and plug-ins are dynamically assembled into complete services for tenants. Finally, to confirm the maneuverability and effectiveness of this flexible method, it is introduced into a communication project.
