Abstract:

Abstract:
Cloud offers compute, storage and network as services. To reduce the offer cost, the operators tend to rely on centralized and massive infrastructures. However, such a configuration hinders the satisfaction of the latency and bandwidth requirements of new generation applications. The Edge aims to rise this challenge by relying on massively distributed resources. To satisfy the operators and the users of Edge, management services similar to the ones that made the success of Cloud should be designed. In this thesis, we focus on the monitoring service. We design a framework to establish a holistic monitoring service. This framework determines a peer-to-peer deployment architecture for the observation, processing, and exposition of measurements. It verifies that this architecture satisfies the functional and quality of service constraints of the users. For this purpose, it relies on a description of users requirement sand a description of the Edge infrastructure. The expression of these two elements can be unified with two languages offered by the Framework. The deployment architecture is determined with the aim of minimizing the compute and network footprint of the monitoring service. For this purpose, the functions are mutualized as much as possible among the different users. The tests we did showed the relevance of our proposal for reducing monitoring footprint with a gain of -28% for the compute and -24% for the network

Anzalone, John Anthony. "Educators' Perspectives on Secondary Education Alternative Placement, Student Recidivism, and Treatment Models." ScholarWorks, 2015. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/739.

Full text
Abstract:
The recidivism rate for disciplinary offenses has increased during the last 8 years in the secondary student population of a sizeable, urban school district in the southwest United States. Recidivism for this district is the act of committing a second disciplinary offense during a single calendar year following completion of a behavior program. Guided by Erikson's theory of social development, this case study was designed to collect a purposeful sample of 21 educators' perceptions of the impact of recidivism on students' education and the effectiveness of treatment models to reduce recidivism. Data were collected from qualitative semi-structured interviews and field notes. Data were coded to identify common themes. Six themes emerged from the analysis: academics vs. discipline, stigmas, mentoring, social pressures, truancy, and loneliness and isolation. The most effective models for reducing recidivism were identified as restorative justice and teaching-family. In addition, educators believed recidivism lowered overall student achievement. The results of this study are of interest to those seeking an understanding of the impact of recidivism on students' education. This study promotes positive social change by suggesting effective practices, models, and treatments that contribute to improved educational environments that support for all students.

Keen, Carolyn Marie. "An investigation of the achievement of 4 x 4 block-scheduled advanced placement calculus AB students." W&M ScholarWorks, 1996. https://scholarworks.wm.edu/etd/1539618463.

Full text
Abstract:
The research investigated whether 4 x 4 block scheduling had any effect on students' achievement in Advanced Placement Calculus AB and described some of the dynamics involved in the shifts to 4 x 4 plans. Data from 52 schools (38 North Carolina, 14 Virginia) were divided into two groups: (Sample 1) 25 schools in which the course was taught in one semester (N = 252) and (Sample 2) 27 schools in which it was taught in two semesters (N = 355). Using two-tailed Z and chi square goodness-of-fit tests {dollar}(\alpha=0.05),{dollar} the 1995 AP test mean score of each sample was compared to the mean of the 103,032 students who took the test. The z test showed that Sample 1 made significantly lower scores. The effect size ({dollar}-{dollar}0.51) and chi square test supported this conclusion. The chi square test revealed significantly higher scores for Sample 2, but the z test did not. The study also found that schools used diverse practices regarding both AP classes and the change process. The study has implications for instruction, staff development, and administrative decision-making related to block scheduling.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine if there was a significant relationship between students who entered a Tennessee university for the first time in the fall of 2014 who had earned either Advanced Placement (AP) or dual enrollment credit and their college readiness and 1-year college retention. College readiness was defined by students’ American College Testing (ACT) sub scores in English, reading, and mathematics. The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) regulates the minimum sub score for each sub section that a student must obtain to be college ready. College retention was defined by students who enrolled at the university in the fall of 2014 and reenrolled in the fall of 2015 at the same university. The independent variables for this study were AP credits received in AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and dual enrollment credit received in any course. The dependent variables for this study were college readiness as defined by TBR and fall-to-fall retention. A series of chi-square tests of independence was performed to examine the differences in college readiness and fall-to-fall retention between students who had earned AP or dual enrollment credit and those students who had not. The quantitative findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between students who enroll in their first college year with AP English or math credit or dual enrollment credit and first year retention rates when compared to students who do not reenroll with AP English or math credit or dual enrollment credit. The results indicated there was no difference in students who enrolled with AP English or math credit and students who enrolled with dual enrollment credit regarding their fall-to-fall retention rates. AP English credit increased the likelihood that a student was college ready in both English and reading based on TBR determinations of college readiness. Credit in an AP mathematics course also increased the likelihood that a student was college ready in math based on TBR determinations of college readiness.

Davis, Donald Joseph. "Placing Students in Eighth Grade Mathematics: A Case Study of the Decision-Making Process." ScholarWorks, 2015. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/1405.

Full text
Abstract:
Algebra 1 is considered an essential course to master in order to understand the concepts of higher-order mathematics, and the California accountability system designates this course for completion in 8th grade. In Shelton County, however, placement of 8th graders in this course is based on feeder school, rather than student ability, resulting in inequitable access. The purpose of this case study was to examine the experiences of administrators who place individual students in mathematics courses and the factors that influence their placement decisions. The conceptual framework for the study was administrative theory as related to processes of effective decision making. Eighteen administrators from 9 local districts described their experiences as they made decisions to place 8th grade students in Algebra 1. Seventeen administrators completed a semi-structured questionnaire on the placement decision-making process, 9 participated in follow-up semi-structured interviews, and 1 was interviewed only. Data were transcribed, open coded, and thematically analyzed. They key findings that affected placement decisions included that many students entered middle school unprepared for algebra, the local mathematics programs were not coherently designed, and aspects of an effective action-cycle decision-making process were absent. A position paper was developed that offers policy and practice recommendations that address these findings. Key recommendations include implementing clear policy, pursuing a coherent instructional program, providing student support interventions, and utilizing assessment and placement processes. This project study advances positive social change by engaging educational leaders at the local site to develop their professional practice and enhance the quality of their organizations' mathematics education program.

Makan, Shallu. "Exploring Administrative Practices to Improve African and Hispanic Highschool Students Enrollment in Advanced Placement Courses." ScholarWorks, 2019. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/7487.

Full text
Abstract:
Disproportionately lower numbers of African- and Hispanic-American high school students are enrolled in advanced placement (AP) courses in U.S. high schools. Thus, the purpose of this exploratory case study was to explore the administrative practices that may expand enrollment of African- and Hispanic-American students in high school AP courses. The conceptual framework of the study was based on Bandura's social cognitive theory and its 4 elements: affective processes, motivational processes, selection processes, and cognitive learning. Research questions were designed to examine the perspectives of administrators about the disproportional enrollment of African- and Hispanic-American students in AP courses and administrative practices that may support proportional representation of these students. Semistructured interviews were used to collect data from 10 administrators from 2 high schools in the same school district. Data analysis involved open, axial, and a priori coding. The findings indicated that administrators agreed on the need to reevaluate prerequisites for AP courses that may create unintentional obstacles to enrollment of Hispanic- and African-American students. Additionally, administrative support for the counselors to provide academic advising may improve access for Hispanic- and African-American students. This study contributes to positive social change by creating a deeper understanding of how administrative practices can improve African- and Hispanic-American enrollment in high school AP courses.

Parton, Joy Brown. "Classroom Placement of Twins Triplets and Other Multiples in Grades Kindergarten Through Eight in East Tennessee Schools: East Tennessee Principals Perceptions." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2011. https://dc.etsu.edu/etd/1319.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to learn from kindergarten- through 8th-grade principals in East Tennessee (a) what policies guide their decisions regarding classroom placement for multiple-birth children; (b) what postsecondary training they have; (c) what sources guide their decisions; (d) what knowledge they have of the needs, relationships, and bonds of multiples; and (e) what their perceptions are regarding how to best meet the needs of multiples. Data were collected through interviews with a purposeful sample of 10 principals of kindergarten- through 8th-grade schools. Five themes emerged forming constructs for organizational framework: (a) learning environment, (b) meeting individual needs, (c) communication, (d) culture, and (e) perceptions. Based on the research, the following conclusions were presented: Prior to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-3102, effective July 1, 2010, none of the school systems had placement policies. Most principals had no postsecondary or graduate school training specific to and were not knowledgeable of the educational psychology of multiples or implications regarding their developmental, emotional, and academic issues. Most said on-the-job training was their only instruction. Few principals were aware of the needs, relationships, and bonds of multiples. Principals stated their conviction that separating multiples would promote individuality and foster independence. Findings from this study might result in colleges modifying their teachers' education curriculum to include the educational psychology of multiples and implications regarding their developmental, emotional, and academic issues. Principals currently serving should enlighten themselves regarding the educational psychology of multiples to include the dynamics of the multiples' relationships and the bond that exists between them. School districts should provide education for staff regarding the development of multiples. Principals should recognize parents of multiples as their best source of guidance and look to school psychologists as resources. It is recommended that principals work with families, become more acquainted with multiples, and seek their opinions when making decisions that affect them. It is recommended that if principals want to help multiples become independent and develop as individuals, they should learn to tell them apart and call them by their individual names rather than twin or triplet.

Olive, Karl William. "Characteristics of Local Dual Credit Programs That Promote Sustained Enrollment and High School Achievement." TopSCHOLAR®, 2010. http://digitalcommons.wku.edu/theses/189.

Full text
Abstract:
The intent of this study was to identify the features of local dual credit programs that promote high achievement and sustained enrollment. Ancillary outcomes of the study were to identify strengths and weaknesses of the programs as well as develop recommendations for the development and implementation of future dual credit programs in the area. The dual credit programs studied were offered by two secondary schools in conjunction with the local community and technical college. Information regarding the programs was collected via interviews from individuals at the secondary and postsecondary level who had substantial knowledge of the programs. Overriding themes that emerged as a result of this study were the need to designate a single dual credit coordinator at both the college and the high schools to improve communication, the desire to increase participation in the existing programs while expanding the program to area schools that do not already participate in dual credit, and the need to maintain the quality and academic rigor of the courses.

Full text
Abstract:
This essay has its basis in issues concerning supervisors’ skills. The term supervisor, in this case, refers to teachers functioning as supervisors during teacher students’ placements or as mentors during the probationary year. What is the crucial point in the role of the supervisor? Is it possible to follow a model and what works in reality? What fields of interest and which questions are relevant for future supervisors? How can you educate these individuals so the will be able to handle such issues? The empirical material that is a part of this essay is a result of the dialogue seminar. According to the basic outlook of the research subject Skill and technology examples from practice is the foundation of this work. Beyond these practical examples of dilemmas in connection to supervision research in the field of supervision is described. Different perspectives of knowledge and skill are other components in this essay. Finally, a discussion about the crucial points in the role of the supervisor is conducted. It is illustrated how different perspectives of knowledge affects the possibility to educate skilled supervisors by using “a model for reality”.

Abstract:
This dissertation examined whether there had been any changes in local practices and policies with respect to the identification and placement of English language learners in special education programs and services since the enactment of Proposition 227, and if so, what they were. This study was comprised of an examination of statewide general and special education aggregated student enrollment data, school years 1996-1997 through 1999- 2000, at state and local education agency (LEA) levels and interviews with selected LEA special education administrators. The findings revealed that (1) the proportion of English language learners who were identified and placed in special education programs and services changed since Proposition 227 passed; however, there were no specific changes identified in local practices and policies, (2) district special education administrators believed that this law had no affect on the identification or assessment processes of special education programs, (3), they also believed that proposition 227 had no effect on identification and placement of English language learners in general education or special education programs, and (4) lack of qualified staff, inadequacy of instructional materials, staff training and misconception of the law in general were identified as LEAs primary challenges post- Proposition 227.

Nash, Robyn Elizabeth. "Collaboration in clinical education : development, implementation and evaluation of an innovative model of clinical education for undergraduate nursing students." Queensland University of Technology, 2007. http://eprints.qut.edu.au/16493/.

Full text
Abstract:
Introduction The purpose of this study was to enhance the prac experience of undergraduate nursing students and registered nursing staff. An innovative model of clinical education, the Clinical Education Unit (CEU) model was developed, implemented and evaluated. Background to the study Clinical education is a vital component of the undergraduate nursing curriculum. 'Real world' practice provides students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to function effectively as a registered nurse. Despite the commitment of universities to produce competent graduates, there has continued debate regarding the preparedness of new graduates for practice as registered nurses. This has focussed continued attention on the adequacy of students' clinical education and, in particular, on the models used for clinical facilitation/supervision. There is little published evidence that clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of any of the current models of clinical education or that any particular model is better than any other in achieving quality outcomes (Wellard, Williams and Bethune 2000; Clare, White, Edwards and Van Loon 2002). Hence, as recommended in the recent National Review of Nurse Education (2002), ongoing evaluation of nursing curricula and teaching practice, including clinical education, is clearly warranted. Methods The study utilised action research methodology to examine the effects of the Clinical Education Unit (CEU) on the quality of clinical prac as experienced by undergraduate nursing students and registered nurses working with the students in wards where they were placed for their practicums. It was undertaken in two iterations or phases: Phase 1 - Development, implementation and initial evaluation of an innovative model of clinical education (the CEU model) and Phase 2 - Refinement and re-evaluation of the CEU model of clinical education. Using focus group discussions and survey questionnaires, qualitative and quantitative data were collected from undergraduate nursing students and clinical nursing staff in conjunction with each iteration of the study. Results Phase 1 results indicated that the CEU model was evaluated more positively by students and registered nurses than were the non-CEU models that were used for comparison. This result was demonstrated in the comments of students and registered nurses with regard to the respective models of clinical education and supported by their ratings of the quality of clinical experience through the QPE-Phase questionnaires. A similar trend was found in the results from Phase 2. The CEU-2 model was again evaluated more positively by students and registered nurses than were the non-CEU models that were used for comparison. Conclusion In summary, the results of this study indicate that the CEU model had a positive impact on the prac experience of students and registered nurses. In both phases of the study, students and registered nurses in wards where the CEU model was being used evaluated the prac experience more positively than did students and registered nurses in wards where non-CEU models were being used. Two key factors were found to be important in achieving this outcome: the collaborative nature of the CEU model and nursing staff ownership of students' clinical education. These factors provided an operating framework which enabled the development of positive learning environments in the wards where students were placed for prac. Equally important were arrangements for the supervision of students' practice which involved local clinical facilitation and the explicit inclusion of other nursing staff in the ward. Further, continued support from the university to allow the clinical facilitators to take a supernumary role when facilitating students, to provide staff development for clinical education and to support staff on a day-to-day basis during the prac was also important, if not essential. It is proposed that these factors, acting synergistically, promoted enhanced access to learning opportunities for students and improved learning outcomes for students and staff. The study makes an important contribution to nursing education by providing evidence that can inform future developments in the area of undergraduate clinical education. It has potential benefits for nursing education not only in the local context, but within the international arena as well.

Abstract:
Universities in Zimbabwe have universally adopted a full-year integrated undergraduate student workplace-based learning pedagogy following the precedent set in 1991 by one pioneering university, the National University of Science and Technology. In this explorative study I analyse participants’ views, reflections and understanding of how the full-year model of workplace-based learning enhances quality academic practices and impacts on short, medium and long-term visions and opportunities for students and other stakeholders. I employed the embedded concurrent mixed methods research design (Creswell&Clark, 2007) using interviews with lecturers, university administrators and industry supervisors, as well as open-ended questions in three matched versions of a questionnaire to students, lecturers and industry supervisors respectively. The same questionnaire provided quantitative data that was statistically analysed. Interviews were conducted with 24 participants from the university under study, industry and other universities, while 363 university students, 40 NUST lecturers and 34 industry supervisors responded to the respective questionnaires. Students, lecturers and industry supervisors concurred on the coherence between industry experiences and university learning, the beneficial experiences at the workplace, and the relevance of those experiences to society, confirming the expressed view that industry-based learning promoted quality learning and teaching, and enabled students to become work-ready. However there were perceptions of inadequate student supervision and assessment, unsatisfactory student welfare safeguards, inadequate research enthusiasm among lecturers, and the lack of involvement of the whole spectrum of industry categories. There was an underlying regard for lifelong learning enabling societal transformation into the increasingly dominant industrialised culture. Lecturers indicated an appreciation for a holistic orientation to teaching and learning (Taylor, 2009), and were inclined towards adopting the hermeneutic approach to education (Danner, 2002). It is recommended, among other things, to revitalise effective practices through staff development efforts, increasing student knowledge and empowerment, and strengthening collaborative platforms between the university and its industry partners. Chief among the suggestions for future research is the understanding and promotion of student welfare during their placement in the workplaces.

Abstract:
There is little research in New Zealand concerning clinical psychology training in general, and in particular the factors that influence effective supervision for students in training as clinical psychologists. This thesis is an exploratory study of supervision and student placements for clinical psychology and is intended to provide a base of data and information to enable further research to be carried out. Data was obtained from two questionnaires which were completed by supervisors and clinical psychology students on placement from the training programmes of six New Zealand Universities. Supervisor and student perceptions of different supervisor behaviours were investigated as well as contracts, conflicts of roles, ethics, transfer of learning from theory to practice, supervision of supervision, gender or cultural issues and parallel process. Information gained from the questionnaires highlights differences between supervisors and students in perceptions of supervisory behaviours. In addition, the responses to the second questionnaire indicate considerable discrepancies within the supervisors' group and within the students' group, as well as between the two groups. The implications for the training of clinical psychologists and for the training of supervisors are stated. The findings suggest that the national minimum and ideal standards, incorporating the defined and specific purposes and objectives of the training and practice component of the programmes for clinical psychology are in need of clarification and justification.

Abstract:
The problem. Research indicates that Latino English language learners in California are placed in special education classes at a higher rate than other states. The factors that determine placement of Latino English learners such as language barriers, transiency, poverty, and teacher training may create challenges for Directors of Special Education. Purpose. This study examined the factors that may contribute to the placement of Latino English language learners in special education as perceived by Directors of Special Education. Research questions. This study answered two questions: (1) Do Directors of Special Education in California believe that there is an overrepresentation of Latino English language learners in special education? (2) What do Directors of Special Education perceive are the factors that lead to the placement of Latino English language learners in special education classes? Methodology. This study used a non-descriptive design and surveyed Directors of Special Education in California districts with an average daily attendance (ADA) of 10,000 or more students. Data for this study was analyzed using percentages, frequencies, mean, and Chi-Square. Ninety-eight Directors of Special Education in districts of ten thousand or more ADA were emailed a questionnaire through SurveyMonkey, and twenty-seven responded. Significant findings. The results suggest that Directors of Special Education do not believe that there is an overrepresentation of Latino English language learners in special education. The results of the survey found six factors that exhibited a significant proportion of positive responses. Recommendations for practice and future studies are also included.

Abstract:
Summer bridge programs (SBPs) have been used as a means of increasing students' college readiness and academic skills. University Southeast implemented a SBP in 2013 for students placing into developmental courses on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA). However, researchers have found mixed results when evaluating the effectiveness of SBPs, and at University Southeast, it has not been investigated. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the difference in TSIA score gains between first-time-in-college students with developmental-level test scores who attended a three-week SBP and those who did not. Tinto's longitudinal model of student departure guided the study examining how university-provided support may increase a student's skills and abilities before the start of college. The research questions focused on the gain scores on TSIA math, reading, and writing pre- and posttests for first-time-in-college students completing the SBP and a control group not participating in the SBP and taking the TSIA a second time. A total of 769 archived test scores from 2014 and 2015 were analyzed using an independent-samples t test. Data analysis found significant gains only in the area of TSIA math, which suggests that college administrators reevaluate the use of SBPs. This study contributes to positive social change because it provides research-based data to administrators of the local SBP and demonstrates the need to explore options that will increase college readiness while ensuring that institutional funds are being used effectively.

Abstract:
A large number of children find themselves in foster care situations in South Africa with placements that have to be monitored by social workers. This is a demanding task, given the nature of foster placements and the heavy caseloads of social workers responsible for monitoring of foster placements. Although a wealth of information on social work supervision is to be found in the prevailing literature, no comparative volume of information is to be found on supervision in child welfare in particular. A model for supervision in this field must still be developed. In view of this and considering the supervisory role occupied by the researcher in Child Welfare South Africa, Free State, it was decided to embark on a research project investigating supervision in the field of child welfare, specifically with foster care social workers. Supervision in the field of child welfare is under researched and that a supervision model for this purpose should still be developed. The research results indicated that social workers monitoring foster care placements have large caseloads and that some of them receive supervision for too long. The supervision that they receive fulfils most of their needs, and that they found their supervisors very accessible. The most important learning needs were related to the Children’s Act no.38 of 2005 as it applies to foster placements, and the submission of section 159 reports in time.

Abstract:

Nursing students’ clinical abilities are highly dependent on the quality of the clinical experience obtained, while placed in the clinical environment. The clinical environment has key role players, which include the clinical supervisor. The primary role of the clinical supervisor is to guide nursing students to become best practice nursing professionals. However, globally, literature alludes to the failure of educating institutions to deliver competent nursing professionals, to meet the needs of patients and deliver quality patient care. Anecdotal evidence at the participating university indicated the possibility that various factors such as high student supervisor ratio and increased workload for clinical supervisors may impact on the ability of the supervisors to function effectively in the clinical settings. At the participating university, this may have been due to various factors, such as large student numbers, as well as social and environmental challenges experienced by the clinical supervisors. The aim of this study was to explore and describe the lived experiences of clinical supervisors, who supervise nursing students at a higher education institution. The study employed a qualitative research approach, utilizing a descriptive phenomenological design. Purposive sampling was used to select eight (8) participants, who were all clinical supervisors of first and second-year nursing students at the HEI (Higher Education Institution) under study. Data was collected by means of in-depth interviews and analysed, using Tesch’s method of data analysis. The five (5) major themes identified, focused on the experiences of clinical supervisors regarding: time as a constraint to job productivity; the impact of the organisational culture on the fluidity of support; limited resources; interpersonal relationships as a dynamic communication process; and impact on the self. In this study, participants focused on their experience of clinical supervision as it related to time, the organisational culture, resources and the impact of the experience on the self. The researcher based on the findings concluded that clinical supervisors are generally satisfied with their jobs and they love the teaching role that they portray. They are unhappy with the circumstances, that they experiencing as challenging in which they must do their clinical supervisor job.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate effective ways of providing educational services for at-risk students who are repeatedly placed out of the regular classroom into an alternative school. Characteristics of both settings were investigated in terms of meeting student needs to determine what ingredients might be missing from either or both settings that should be implemented to help these students succeed. The research was qualitative and used a case study design. Primary data were gathered from interviews with five students placed in an alternative school setting and interviews with teachers and administrators in both the regular school and the alternative school. Cumulative student records were also used. The researcher concluded that students who are repeatedly placed in the alternative program are a very small percentage in each school; however, there is a need for better resources in both the regular and alternative programs to meet the needs of these students. Key ingredients are better communication between the two settings and a better understanding of the role of the alternative program in serving these students. There is also a need for transition planning and follow-up with students who are not finding success when placed back in the regular classroom and are being pulled back and forth between the two programs.

Lavoie, Katie. "Les pratiques entourant le programme d'hébergement avec encadrement intensif : une analyse qualitative de la perception des intervenants." Thèse, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/10669.

Full text
Abstract:
This dissertation outlines practices regarding the placement in intensive supervision unit for youth centers since the advent of the reform. This was influenced by polemics and controversies caused by the belief that this measure does not respect the rights of young people by restraining their freedom. The intensive supervision unit was perceived by lawyers as illegal because no legal basis existed. To resolve this debate, the legislature established in the Youth Protection Act, in 2007, the article 11.1.1 that now frames the use of this measure. To know the effects of this reform in the practices of counsellors, qualitative interviews were conducted with twenty-five employees of youth centers in Montreal and Laval. Despite some implementation difficulties and some signs of resistance to change, the results suggest that this reform enhances the rights of young people. About living conditions, major changes are at the heavy profile of the clientele and the overcrowding intensive supervision units. Also, the mix profiles on the rehabilitation of youth is discussed and analyzed in terms of the concept of socio-cultural inertia and in regard of respecting human children rights.

This study aims to describe the practical experience of supervisors in the Children and Youths Placement Institution through researchers, and from the ecological perspective,we will discuss the reconciliation process from tiro supervisior to mature supervisior in the past four years. The purpose of the research is that the researcher construct self-Identity in the reconciliation process of a supervisory role by the practical experience. Therefore,The researcher can more clearly control themselves to exercise supervisory duties, and construct the resettlement agency supervisor's instruction manual by my self. The researcher want to continue to work hard in social work, and make more effective contributions to the field of social work practice. With case study research desigh and methods as the methodology, The researcher describe the practical experience of supervisors in the Children and Youths Placement Institution in the past four years. The research result is that the researcher experienced the exploration, conflict, reconciliation, reorganization, and maturity, etc. It finds that it has an interdependent and reciprocal relationship with the environment. It enters the collision of life history, the change of interpersonal relationship, the ability to supervise the role, the feedback of the role, the influence of the habitat, the reconciliation through reconciliation. The process of moving towards a mature supervisor begins a series of reflective issues.it include that Does the supervisor role is right for me? Clarify your own values and perceptions of various differences, further understand yourself, explore the evolution of your own supervisory role, and finally understand your stress, professional exhaustion and self-care. After reflectiving and reflexiving, the researcher produces Self-Identity and is able to move forward with a sense of competence and hope. The study found that the current supervisory system has been regarded as an important indicator of maintaining service quality in social welfare. However, efforts still need to be made to construct a supervisor training mechanism in the field. In addition, the supervisors personally construct a set of their own supervisors' reflective and reflexive mechanisms for the practice of supervision services are also very important!

Abstract:
The study is devoted to a holistic comparative and pedagogical analysis of the professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in the system of professional medical education in Germany. Within the framework of the research, a thorough analysis of pedagogical, psychological, medical, philosophical scientific works on the problem was carried out; the basic conceptual and terminological apparatus is clarified and interpreted; the state of research of the problem in the pedagogical discourse is clarified; features of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany are revealed; based on comparative and pedagogical analysis, the possibilities of using progressive ideas of the German experience in Ukraine are substantiated. According to the study of psychological and pedagogical research of Ukrainian and German scientists on the problem of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel, it is stated that the researched problem was studied by Ukrainian comparative researchers superficially, without gaining systematic coverage. Clarification of the essence of the key concepts of the study («system of professional medical education», «professional and specialized training of nursing personnel») showed different approaches of Ukrainian and German scientists to the interpretation of their content. At the same time, in the Ukrainian pedagogical discourse, there are no such concepts as «geriatric nursing training» («Altenpflegeausbildung»), «health and pediatric nursing training» («Gesundheits-und Kinderkrankenpflegeausbildung»). «nursing assistant training» («Pflegeassistenzausbildung»), which are legally recognized in Germany. The system of professional medical education in Germany is characterized, which includes the following components: legislative and regulatory support and regulation of medical education, in particular, nursing training at various federal levels; the academic and non-academic educational sphere of the system of professional medical education, the dual model of the organization of professional and specialized training; availability of a network of professional education institutions (nursing) of different types; content and technological support of theoretical and practical training of nursing personnel, etc. It was found that the specifics of the system of professional medical education in Germany is characterized by the presence of conditions for basic training, advanced training, further education of nursing personnel, and obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing within the concept of lifelong learning. It was found that the specifics of the professional activities of nursing personnel in Germany involves documenting the nursing process (information gathering, event planning, nursing report, and evaluation); establishing nursing diagnoses for patients using international classification systems of nursing; care for the elderly and care for children in specialized health care facilities. Based on the analysis of educational activities, curricula of German professional education institutions that train nursing personnel, organizational and didactic features were identified, namely: curricula are built on a modular basis, their content is differentiated into the compulsory modules and the elective modules; education in the educational program has a professional orientation; differentiation of methods of theoretical and practical training; placement supervision and practical support of nursing students; application of various models of nursing didactics (activity-oriented learning, problem-oriented learning, experience-oriented learning, gestalt approach to learning, case-based nursing didactics, subject-oriented nursing didactics, interactionist nursing didactics or didactics of interaction, a competence-theoretical model of nursing didactics, nursing didactics of professional qualifications’ framework); use of electronic learning and methodological support (electronic portfolio, electronic lectures, electronic textbooks, mobile learning, blended learning, electronic learning platforms). Based on the comparative and pedagogical analysis of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany and Ukraine, common and different approaches are identified. It was found that the legal framework for professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany and Ukraine has some differences. There is no particular law in Ukraine to regulate the professional and specialized training of both nursing personnel and other health care workers in Ukraine. The institutional and managerial components analysis shows higher schools and higher education institutions for professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany and Ukraine. In Germany, it is much broader and consists of a variety of federal and state administrations in medical education as well as in the number of educational institutions and health care facilities, including university clinics, health centers, geriatric boarding houses, rehabilitation clinics. The main difference between the content of curricula in Germany and educational programs in Ukraine is the modularized structure of curricula, with modules being a cluster or a combination of educational activities (classes) focused on a specific thematic or semantic focus. Despite some common forms of training in both countries, the German experience favors nursing personnel’s digital training. As a result of the study, the possibilities of implementing progressive ideas of German pedagogical experience to improve the professional and specialized training of nursing personnel at the national and regional levels and educational institutions’ level are substantiated. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is that: - for the first time in native pedagogical science, the peculiarities and didactic principles of professional training of nursing personnel in Germany (normative-legal base of professional training of nursing personnel; variety of types of institutions of nursing education (institutions of non-academic education ‒ schools of geriatric/health and pediatric nursing, professional specialized schools of nursing, institutions of academic education ‒ higher specialized schools, universities), dual form of education, the formation of the content of professional and specialized training based on nursing didactics and nursing pedagogy, a wide range of specializations of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel; Flexicare 50+, IMED-KOMM.EU, MeCoPflege for the formation of media competence, specialized speech and other professional competences of nursing personnel, placement supervision, organization of research work and independent work of nurses; use of problem-oriented teaching methods); the specifics of the professional activity of nursing personnel in Germany is clarified; a comparative and pedagogical analysis of the content of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany and Ukraine; the possibilities of implementation of progressive ideas of the German experience for the improvement of the professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Ukraine are outlined; - improved semantic and educational and methodological support for professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Ukraine; the content of the concepts «professional and specialized training of nursing personnel», «professional training of nursing personnel» and «specialized training of nursing personnel» is specified; - further development of the provisions on current trends in the development of digital technologies in the professional and specialized training of nursing personnel; use of the competence approach in professional nursing education. The practical significance of the obtained research results lies in the creation and implementation of the educational reference book «Nursing Education: the Experience of Germany» in the educational process of higher educational institutions in Ukraine, which helped to deepen the knowledge of teachers and students on the specifics of professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Germany, and judgments on the development of nursing education in the global educational space and substantiation of the possibilities of implementing the progressive ideas of the German experience to improve the professional and specialized training of nursing personnel in Ukraine. Research materials can be used in an improved legal framework in the field of nursing education; development of educational and professional programs, didactic complexes of educational disciplines for professional training of nursing personnel; textbooks, special courses, and special seminars, as well as to improve the assessment system, planning independent work of nursing students. The research results will be useful for undergraduates, graduate students, doctoral students in the preparation and implementation of research and to improve the professional competence and professional development of nursing personnel.

Abstract:
South Africa is currently facing a severe shortage of trained and competent social workers. Case loads have reached proportions of such magnitude that social workers in the field are battling to meet the needs of the people they serve, while still maintaining high ethical and professional standards. The impact of HIV/AIDS on the field of social work has currently redirected a major part of the focus of the profession on meeting the needs of child-headed households, to find and train foster parents for these children and generally to assist the poorest of the poor to access various grants applicable to their circumstances. This redirection appears also to have changed the emphasis regarding social work training requirements. Whereas in the past the newly qualified social worker was able to acquire additional skills in the workplace, under the guidance of experienced social workers, today it would seem that the demands of the work place are such that the social worker needs to take on significant responsibilities on entering the field. At the same time the Department of Social Services in South Africa is encouraging universities to increase the intake of social work students, in an attempt to meet this rising need for personnel trained to meet the current requirements of the clients of social work services. This exploratory research will focus on the applicability of UNISA (University of South Africa) social work training to these current requirements of social work by tapping into three different frames of reference: 1) The experiences and perceptions of the final year social work student in their placement setting, and particularly on whether they have felt their UNISA training equipped them for the work they are required to do. 2) The way the UNISA student is perceived by the practice setting personnel (contact person), and whether they meet the requirements of the field setting. 3) Input from the UNISA appointed supervisors responsible for the final year social work students' professional development in the field. The person-centred approach and the developmental approach have been briefly discussed in relation to social work in South Africa in the literature review and form the backdrop to this research, guiding the researcher in the exploration of the perceptions of the three different types of respondents. Post-modern theory is also at the root of the researcher's attempt to find fit between the different perceptions and the implications for social work training at a distance learning institute in South Africa today.
