Full textNesta dissertação é modelado computacionalmente o processo de corrosão por pites em aço inoxidável. Foi implementado um programa computacional que modela a distribuição da concentração local de espécies agressivas, o grau de dano do filme passivo, a suscetibilidade a pites e a distribuição dos pites, com base no modelo de PUNCKT et al. [2004]. Como uma contribuição desta dissertação foi considerada uma dependência entre a concentração local de espécies agressivas e a corrente anódica simulada. Também foi considerada, como outra contribuição do presente trabalho, a existência de pites estáveis e o efeito determinístico decorrente das regiões de inclusões de MnS em aços inoxidáveis. A geração de pites sobre uma superfície metálica é modelada usando um processo randômico de nucleação de pites, e a solução do modelo matemático permite a visualização da superfície corroída.
In the present work a computational model of the pitting corrosion process in stainless steal is developed. A computational program was implemented for the determination of the distribution of the local concentration of aggressive species, the degree of the passive film damage, the susceptibility of pitting and the pitting distribution, based on the PUNCKT et al. [2004] model. As a contribution of the present work dependence between the local concentration of aggressive species and the simulated anodic current is considered. It was also considered, as another contribution, the existence of stable pits and the deterministic effect of regions of MnS inclusions in stainless steel. The generation of pits over a metallic surface is modeled using a random process of pits nucleation, and the mathematical model solution gives the corroded surface visualization.

Full textO objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar as características morfológicas da corrosão localizada na liga de alumínio 1050 e a cinética de crescimento em tamanho dos pites induzidos por ensaios de imersão estática em solução de NaCl, pH 6,0, aerada naturalmente à temperatura ambiente. As amostras foram examinadas antes e após o ensaio de corrosão por microscopia ótica e microscopia eletrônica de varredura e, posteriormente foram analisadas através de um método de captura, processamento digital e análise de imagens, recentemente desenvolvido pelo grupo de Corrosão e Eletroquímica da FEG/UNESP. Exames na superfície da liga após 168h de imersão em NaCl 0,0043 mol/L indicaram um ataque localizado na matriz adjacente às partículas Al:Fe:Si e Al:Fe as quais revelaram um caráter catódico. Mediante análise da variação temporal dos parâmetros obtidos concluiu-se que a área dos pites não muda significativamente enquanto a densidade e a fração de área corroída aumentam com o tempo. A variação temporal indicou que velocidade de corrosão, em termos de propagação superficial, diminui com o tempo de imersão. As características morfológicas e os tamanhos dos pites nos perfis da superfície corroída foram estudados. Os pites induzidos não podem ser representados por uma única geometria, senão pela distribuição morfológica seguinte: i) sem exclusão das cavidades: hemisférico > transição A > transição B > irregular > cônico > cilíndrico; ii) com exclusão das cavidades: hemisférico > transição A > transição B > irregular ~cônico, sem evidências dos pites cilíndricos. Os pites mais profundos foram encontrados especialmente na classe de transição B. A velocidade de crescimento em profundidade (P) ou em largura (L) dos pites foi melhor representada, após a exclusão das cavidades, mediante a lei cinética seguinte:...
This work aim has beem to study the morphologic characteristics of localized corrosion on aluminum alloy 1050 and the growth kinetics in size of pits induced by static immersion tests in NaCl solution, pH 6.0, naturally aerated at room temperature. The samples have been examined before and after the corrosion test by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy and subsequently analyzed by a capturing method, digital processing and image analysis, recently developed by the Corrosion and Electrochemistry group of FEG / UNESP. Investigations on the alloy surface after 168h immersion in NaCl 0.0043 mol / L has showed a localized attack on the matrix adjacent to the particles Al: Fe: Si and Al: Fe which have disclosed a cathodic character. By analyzing the temporal variation of obtained parameters it has been concluded that pits area does not change significantly while density and corroded area fraction increase with the time. Temporal variation has indicated that corrosion rate in terms of propagating surface, decreases with immersion time. The morphological characteristics and pits sizes in the corroded surface profiles have been studied. The induced pits may not be represented by a unique geometry, but by the following morphologic distribution: i) without cavities exclusion: hemispheric > transition A > transition B > irregular > conical > cylindrical ii) excluding cavities: hemispheric > transition A > transition B > irregular ~ conical, without cylindrical pits evidence. The deepest pits have been found particularly in transition B class. The pits growth rate in depth (P) or in width (L) has been better represented, after cavities exclusion, by the following kinetics law: P or L = ktm, with k and m empirical values that depend on a combination of different factors

Resumo: Neste trabalho apresentamos uma análise detalhada dos transientes de fotocorrente em amostras de GaAs semi-isolante, discutindo a sua aplicação e utilidade como um método de caracterização de impurezas e defeitos, com níveis de energia profundos na banda proibida, de semicondutores altamente esistivos. As medidas do transiente de fotocorrente foram realizadas com um sistema digital inteiramente projetado e construído no próprio laboratório. Apresentamos os detalhes deste projeto, incluindo o "hardware" e "software" envolvidos. O sistema realiza medidas do transiente em tempo real, com alta resolução e fidelidade. Resumimos as noções básicas de emissão e captura de portadores de carga pelos centros num semicondutor, necessárias para analisar os transientes de fotocorrente. Apresentamos um sistema de equações que descrevem estes processos de emissão e captura com as soluções correntes de primeira aproximação encontradas na literatura. Avançamos nesta análise, propondo soluções analíticas com menos aproximações que descrevem melhor o fenômeno experimental. Apresentamos também simulações do transiente de corrente através das soluções numéricas das equações diferenciais com condições de contorno muito próximas das experimentais. Tanto as soluções analíticas quanto as numéricas apresentam comportamentos semelhantes na descrição dos transientes observados. A alta resolução dos transientes medidos permitiu uma análise original e detalhada da forma do decaimento de fotocorrente, comparando-os com as previsões dos modelos teóricos. Em conseqüência, foi possível fazer também uma análise critica do método convencional de tratamento de transientes de fotocorrente, baseado no denominado espectro PITS ("Photo Induced Transient Spectroscopy"). Finalmente, sugerimos um método alternativo de análise direta dos transientes, o que possibilitou a determinação de valores muito mais confiáveis dos parâmetros para os níveis de energia profundos em semicondutores resistivos. Apresentamos espectros PITS de GaAs semi-isolante em diferentes configurações de polarização, iluminação e condições de superfície. Caracterizamos as armadilhas observadas nestas amostras, incluindo as energias de ativação e seções de choque de captura de portadores. Observamos também que, sob condições especiais, ocorre um fenômeno pouco compreendido: o aparecimento de picos negativos no espectro PITS. Apresentamos uma interpretação original para este fenômeno, que está contida nas soluções analíticas e numéricas, apresentadas neste trabalho, para o sistema de equações diferenciais que descrevem o transiente
Abstract: We present a detailed analysis or photocurrent transients in semi-insulating GaAs and we discuss its usefulness as a method for characterization or deep level impurities and defects in high resistivity semiconductors. The photocurrent transient measurements were performed in a "home made" automatic digital system. We present the project details including the hardware and software. This system has the capacity to measure transients in real time with high resolution and fidelity. We summarize the fundamentals of charge carrier emission and capture from deep centers in semiconductors, necessary to analyze the photocurrent transients. We present the differential equations that describes the emission and capture processes with solutions in the first approximation found in the literature. We propose new analytic solutions. in high dark current approximation, that better describe the experimental phenomena. We also present photocurrent transient simulations using numerical solutions of the differential equations with initial conditions very similar to the experimental ones. Both the analytic and numeric solutions presented here, describe equally well the observed photocurrent decay. The high resolution or the measured transients allowed na original and detailed analysis or the photocurrent decay shape. We made a critical analysis or the conventional method or photocurrent transients treatment. based on the so called Photo Induced Transient Spectroscopy (PITS) spectra. In conclusion, we suggest an alternative method for PITS data reduction based on direct analysis of the photocurrent transients, that resulted in more reliable values of activation energy and capture cross section for semi-insulating materials. We present PITS spectra of semi-insulating GaAs in different configurations of polarization, illumination and surface conditions. We characterize the observed traps in the samples, including the activation energies and carrier capture cross sections. We also observed negative peaks in PITS spectra. We present an original interpretation of this phenomenon, based in our analytical and numerical solutions of the differential equation set

A resistência à corrosão por pites dos aços-ferramenta AISI H12 revestido com carbeto de vanádio depositado por pulverização catódica magnetrônica (Magnetron Sputtering) e AISI H13 nitretado sob plasma pulsado foi investigada através de medidas eletroquímicas de potencial de circuito aberto, polarização cíclica e impedância eletroquímica em soluções de NaCl 3,5% e 0,9%. Foram investigados filmes de carbeto de vanádio com diferentes espessuras e estequiometrias, depositados sobre a superfície do substrato com diferentes temperaturas para o aço H12. Para os estudos com o aço H13, parâmetros como o tempo de tratamento e a temperatura do substrato durante o processo de nitretação foram analisados. As melhores condições de proteção foram obtidas com as amostras submetidas a tratamento superficial em altas temperaturas e maiores tempos de tratamento, para ambas as técnicas de deposição. Os valores de potencial de pite (Epit) foram deslocados para valores mais nobres, para ambos os aços estudados, o que resulta em maior proteção contra a corrosão localizada. Informações a respeito da microestrutura e morfologia das superfícies modificadas foram obtidas através de experimentos de difração de raios-X e microscopia eletrônica de varredura, respectivamente. A dureza superficial ainda foi determinada por ensaios de nanoindentação. A eficiência de proteção foi associada à composição e a microestrutura das novas camadas na superfície.

Full textThe removal of vegetation and overburden changes the naturalwater purifying processes and thus decreases the groundwaterprotection in gravel pit areas. The sand and gravel depositsusedfor aggregate extraction in Sweden are also often valuablefor extraction of groundwater as a drinking water resource. TheSwedish legislation requires that gravel pits be restored afterthe cessation of extraction, the aim being to reestablishvegetation and to reinstate groundwater purifyingprocesses.
The objective of this study was to improve our understandingof the processes governing groundwater protection andvegetation establishment so that these could be applied toimproving restoration methods for reestablishing naturalgroundwater protection. The focus was on the importance of soilphysical properties of the topsoil for vegetation establishmentand groundwater recharge.
Actual field methods for restoration were reviewed.Conflicts between aggregate extraction and groundwaterinterests were common. In many cases the actual restorationcarried out differed from pre-planned specifications in permitdocumentation.
Commonly available substrates that might be used forrestoration of gravel pits were investigated. The soils weredescribed as regards texture, organic content, porosity, waterretention and hydraulic conductivity. The way in which acombination of the water retention characteristic and theunsaturated conductivity influenced the behaviour of thesoil-plant-atmosphere system was demonstrated using aprocess-orientated simulation model. Plants with well-developedaboveground characteristics and shallow roots in particularexerted the highest requirements on the soil physicalproperties.

Full textEste projeto de pesquisa teve como objetivo estudar toda evolução que governa o crescimento, distribuição e classificação dos pites em aços inoxidáveis austeníticos ABNT 304 e 310S obtidos no estado como recebido e tratados, submetidos a diferentes tempos de exposição em névoa salina. A originalidade deste trabalho baseou-se no desenvolvimento de uma técnica para caracterização morfológica e da corrosão localizada associando com os aspectos de descrição de formas, tamanho, parâmetros específicos e populacionais. O aço inoxidável 304 apresentou morfologia irregulares > região de transição A> cônicos >hemisféricos > região de transição B, sendo que irregulares e região de transição A em maiores quantidades no sistema. Na liga tratada a cada tempo de exposição, a quantidade de pites é da mesma ordem, ou seja, região de transição A, irregulares, cônicos, hemisféricos, região de transição B, sendo que os pites na região de transição A e irregulares estão presentes em maior quantidades no sistema. O aço inoxidável 310S, como recebido, exibiu a seguinte morfologia: pites hemisféricos > região de transição A > região de transição B > irregulares > cônicos, sendo que os pites estão presentes em maiores quantidades em: hemisféricos e região de transição A. A quantidade de pites na liga tratada a cada tempo de exposição é da mesma ordem: região de transição B > hemisféricos > região de transição A > cônicos >irregulares. O aço inoxidável 304 apresentou maior resistência à corrosão por pite do que o aço inoxidável 310S, e também diferenças na distribuição, classificação e mediana dos tamanhos dos pites, conforme os resultados obtidos na avaliação estatística da superfície e perfis dos mesmos.
This research project has had as objective to study all evolution that governs the growth, distribution and classification of pits in ABNT 304 and 310S austenitic stainless steels obtained in the state as receveid and treated, submitted to different times of exposition in saline mist. The originality of this work has been based on the development of a technique for morphologic characterization and of located corrosion associating with the shape description, size specific and population parameters. The 304 stainless steel has presented the following morphology: irregular > transition region A > conic > hemispherical > transition region B, in which irregular and transition region A > are in larger amounts in the system. In the treated alloy at each exposition time, the pits amount is at the same order, in other words, transition region A, irregular, conic, hemispherical, transition region B, in which the pits in the transtion region A and irregular are present in larger amounts in the system. The 310S stainless steel, as receveid, has exhibited the following morphology: hemispherical pits > transition region A > transtion region B > irregular > conic, in which the pits are present in large amounts in: hemispherical pits and transition region A. The pits amount in the treated alloy at each time of exposition has the same order: transition region B > hemispherical > transition region A > conic> irregular. The 304 stainless steel has presented pit corrosion resistance larger than the 310S stainless steel, and also differences in the distribution, classification and pits sizes medium, according to the results obtained in the statistical evaluation of their surface and profiles.

Full textThe research investigates the case of the Gruppo Finanziario Tessile (GFT) to detect changes and transformations of fashion and design culture in the Italian historical context of the 1980s, using the exhibition as a fragment of space and time in which to observe the interaction between the company and its public. Shedding light on the unexplored work of Turin's Marketing, Communication and Image Department, the countless institutional exhibitions held between 1983 and 1988 appear as interesting cultural vehicles for design communication. The analysis of the communication of the GFT is divided thematically inside and outside the Pitti Uomo fair, reaching a range of small answers to the question that drives the whole research: "Does culture pay?" Thanks to the continuous multidisciplinary confrontation that emerges in this narrative, it can be said that the company had at least tried to foster the link between economic, social and cultural aspects of clothing, providing valid examples of how to incorporate culture into clothing and vice versa. By doing this, the last reign of the Rivets closed behind globalization with the presentiment that the cultural and humanistic dimension of the Italian product was destined to increasingly influence consumer attitudes.
