Abstract:

Abstract:
Automating inspection of critical infrastructure such as sewer systems will help utilities optimize maintenance and replacement schedules. The current inspection process consists of manual reviews of video as an operator controls a sewer inspection vehicle remotely. The process is slow, labor-intensive, and expensive and presents a huge potential for automation. With this work, we address a central component of the next generation of robotic inspection of sewers, namely the choice of 3D sensing technology. We investigate three prominent techniques for 3D vision: passive stereo, active stereo, and time-of-flight (ToF). The Realsense D435 camera is chosen as the representative of the first two techniques wheres the PMD CamBoard pico flexx represents ToF. The 3D reconstruction performance of the sensors is assessed in both a laboratory setup and in an outdoor above-ground setup. The acquired point clouds from the sensors are compared with reference 3D models using the cloud-to-mesh metric. The reconstruction performance of the sensors is tested with respect to different illuminance levels and different levels of water in the pipes. The results of the tests show that the ToF-based point cloud from the pico flexx is superior to the output of the active and passive stereo cameras.

Abstract:
Pico hydro or a small scale hydroelectric power plant is used as the rotating energy of the generator. Pico hydro is a hydroelectric power plant that has a power of less than 5 kW. Technically, Pico hydro has three main components namely water, turbine and generator. Turbine type propeller reaction has a special profile that causes a decrease in water pressure during the blades. This pressure difference exerts force on the blade so that the runner (rotating part of the turbine) can rotate. Permanent magnets are used to produce magnetic flux. Permanent magnets used are rare-eatrhrod magnet material, neodymium-iron-boron NdFeB with N35 type. The planned generator released is 36.85 V, 500 rpm, 50 hz. This designed water turbine has four blades which cannot change its angle. As for the measurement results produce a voltage of 35.1 V with a manufacturing efficiency of 95 %. Charging the battery voltage must be more than 12 V, therefore the generator must be turned at least 200 rpm with a voltage of 14 V to be used for charging batteries.

Abstract:
The RFPM(Radial Flux Permanent Magnet) generator has numerous advantages such as high output voltage and output power, high efficiency, manufacture easy but the slotted RFPM generator configuration produces the cogging torque. The cogging torque would be the source of acoustic noise and vibration. This paper presents the electromagnetic structure design analysis and the cogging torque reduction design of RFPM generator. It is composed of the inner stator and the outer stator and internal rotor. We called it as DG-RFPMG(Dual Generator-Radial Flux Permanent Magnet Generator). Firstly, the design of the pole-arc ratio of rotor magnets to reduce cogging torque is studied. Secondly, the design of the stator displacement of the outer stator and the inner stator to reduce the cogging torque is studied. Finally, the combined design optimization considering both the pole- arc ratio and the stator displacement to reduce the cogging torque is studied. The design of DG-RFPMG was calculated by 2D FEM(Finite Element Method).

Abstract:
Almost everything we know of Michael Marullus – Greek exile, Neoplatonist, mercenary soldier – is mediated by his poetry, much of which seems positively to invite biographical decoding. The poet tells us he was conceived in the year Constantinople fell to the Turks (1453), after which his family fled, via Ragusa (modern Dubrovnik), to Italy. Here he grew up under the Iliadae … tecta Remi (Siena?), received an excellent education, and from an early age was frequenting the humanist academy of Giovanni Pontano at Naples. Marullus reports that when just seventeen, fate tore him away from his studies and plunged him into a military career (Epig. 2.32.71–3). Between wars, both abroad and within Italy, he composed Latin poetry – including four books of controversial ‘pagan’ hymns –, edited Lucretius, and fraternised with such prominent figures in the literary and intellectual culture of the day as Jacopo Sannazaro and Giovanni Pico della Mirandola. Severed from an eventful life by a fittingly dramatic death, Marullus drowned in an attempt to cross the river Cecina in full flood. His poetic talents were much appreciated in his own time, for example by Leonardo Da Vinci and Thomas More. The love lyrics to ‘Neaera’, though perhaps stiff and conventional to modern taste, inspired Ronsard. His untimely death drew Latin epitaphs from all over Italy.

Abstract:
A comprehensive analysis of optical and dielectric properties of a material is very much essential for the research of device fabrication. From this perception, the sodium (Na) doped lanthanum manganite with 15% substitution of La by Na (La0.85Na0.15MnO3) has been synthesized using the flux method and investigated to observe the optical absorbance, refractive index, capacitance and dielectric constant. In this study, we have reported better optical absorbance for the monovalent Na doping with a slightly lower value of the energy band gap (~ 1.57 eV) compared to the divalent Sr doping on parent LaMnO3. The structural analysis has been accomplished using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to confirm the ability of the flux method to grow higher order La0.85Na0.15MnO3 crystal satisfactorily. Optical properties of La0.85Na0.15MnO3 have been estimated using UV-Vis spectroscopy and the frequency dependent electronic properties (ac conductivity, dielectric constants and capacitance) have been investigated using a precision impedance analyzer. The capacitance has been reported in Pico farad range for La0.85Na0.15MnO3 crystal with the low value of dielectric constant throughout the high-frequency region.

Abstract:
Abstract. Seasonal cycle of biogenic fluxes obtained from sediment trap at two locations 5°24' N, 86°46' E (southern Bay of Bengal trap; SBBT) and 3°34' N, 77°46' E (equatorial Indian Ocean trap; EIOT) within the equatorial Indian Ocean (EIO) were examined to understand the factors that control them. The sediment trap data at SBBT was collected for ten years from November 1987 while that at EIOT was for a one year period from January 1996. The characteristic of biogenic flux at SBBT was the strong seasonality with peak flux in August, while lack of seasonality characterised the flux at EIOT. The high chlorophyll biomass at the SBBT during the summer monsoon was supported by a combination of processes such as wind-mixing and advection, both of which supplied new nitrogen to the upper ocean. In contrast, the elevated chlorophyll at EIOT during summer monsoon was supported only by wind mixing. High cell counts of phytoplankton (> 5 μm) at SBBT dominated by diatoms suggest the operation of classical food web and high carbon export. On the contrary, dominance of pico-phytoplankton and one-and-a-half time higher magnitude of micro-zooplankton biomass along with 2-fold lesser meso-zooplankton at EIOT indicated the importance of microbial loop. The substantial decrease in the carbon export at EIOT indicated faster remineralization of photosynthetically produced organic matter.
