Abstract:
The article highlights the problem of gradual professional training of future coaches in the field of fitness, recreational physical culture, studying at the State University of Physical Education and Sports. The main aspects of such training are the formation and improvement of a complex of personal and professional qualities. In this regard, a sociological survey of students of the first cycle of study (1-3 courses) in the specialty «Fitness and recreational programs» was organized. For this, questionnaires were developed, the questions of which were conditionally divided into 3 categories: the first – determines the knowledge of preparation for the profession and activities of a fitness trainer; the second – studies the aspirations to acquire new skills, knowledge and skills of a fitness trainer; the third – reveals the professional qualities and abilities of a fitness trainer. The analysis of the survey results revealed that all the interviewed students are confident in the correct choice of their profession. In the learning process, there is a gradual, staged, growth of the level of professional training, including the formation of professional and personal qualities, as well as professional and motor abilities. At the same time, it can be noted that all the students participating in the survey, to one degree or another, are engaged in self-improvement, attending various events aimed at improving the level of their preparedness for the activity of a fitness trainer. This allowed a larger number of students (67%) to get a job in fitness clubs by the third year. In addition, it turned out that all the students who participated in the survey were involved in some kind of sport. Many of them work as trainers in fitness clubs without changing their direction in sports. Thus, one can observe the phased dynamics of the formation of a specialist, fitness trainer, from the first year of study at the university to the third.

Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between physical activity in sport and feelings of well-being, testing alternative interpretations of the relationship between these two variables. It was expected that there would be positive relationships between physical activity on the one hand and physical fitness, feelings of well-being, social interaction in the sport and exercise environment, and socioeconomic status on the other hand. It was also expected that physical fitness, social interaction, and socioeconomic status would be positively related to psychological well-being. Further, it was expected that any positive zero-order relationship of physical activity and well-being would be at least in part a result of the conjoint effects of the other variables. The analyses were conducted separately for the male and female subsamples of a large survey study of Canadian adults. The results, after controls, show a modest positive relationship of physical activity and well-being for males but no such relationship for females. The predicted independent effects of the control factors obtained for both males and females. Interpretations of the results are discussed.

Abstract:
The problem of development and improvement of physical qualities, increasing the level of physical fitness, achieving high working capacity of students is considered. The relevance of the study is obvious, since increasing the level of physical fitness of student youth and improving health are among the priority areas of state policy. According to the analysis of literary sources, data are given on the low level of physical fitness of modern student youth. One of the factors of the insufficient level of development of the physical qualities of girls and boys is the lack of motor activity, caused, among other things, by students' dependence on the Internet. An assessment of the initial level of development of physical fitness of first-year students is given and the nature of the development of individual physical qualities of those involved is considered. It was revealed that girls have a lower level of physical fitness than boys. High values in girls were noted when performing a test for the flexibility of the spinal column. The worst results were shown by girls when assessing endurance, strength and speed-strength abilities. Male students demonstrated high results in tests that reflect the strength of the abdominal muscles, the strength of the muscles of the arms and upper shoulder girdle. Low test scores were noted when young men performed endurance running, standing long jump.

Abstract:
This paper explores the ways in which figurational sociology can offer a useful lens through which to understand the ongoing use of fitness testing as a means to physically educate young people. We contribute to a theoretical discussion around how physical education teachers have come to think about and enact fitness testing so pervasively. Applying a figurational lens: (a) encourages us to view fitness testing as a historically rooted practice; (b) sensitises us to the importance of social interdependencies and habitus when trying to understand their prevalence; (c) helps us to go beyond the labelling of fitness testing as ‘disciplinary’ and encourages us to identify the (un)intended consequences of fitness testing, and how these are enabling and constraining and for whom. Using a figurational lens we identify scientisation and shaming as two social processes that can help us understand why physical educators use fitness testing as a context for learning despite a lack of evidence to suggest its worth. The theorising articulated in this paper, together with the sociological work it follows, can help us move forward in terms of pedagogical possibilities for physical education.

Physical Activity as a Sociological PhenomenonWe are living in a time when society, culture and science have become increasingly aware of the great importance of sport not only as a part of mass culture, but broadly understood, for individual and social health and well-being. Physical activity of people plays an increasingly more important role in scientific interest regarding way of life found in contemporary society; it is a crucial factor in the process of officiating the level of healthy and active lifestyles, quality of life, and health in general. An indispensable role of physical activity in the course of human life is also confirmed, both permanently and scientifically, in the context of obesity prevention. The development of a sedentary lifestyle is the result of a socialization process that is developed at youth and continued into adulthood, and leads to physical inactivity. At the present we face in our cultural settings an apparent trend: People are becoming more and more individualized, losing the beneficial impact of community activities, involved in passive way of life that lacks a proper level of physical activities and active sport. The contemporary United States fitness industry, in conjunction with the medical endorsement of exercise and the marketing of lifestyle consumption, has made possible the emergence and rapid growth of health and fitness services. This paper brings together the sociological fields of work, consumption, and physical culture, suggesting how the structure and organization of personal training impacts upon how fitness is sold. Drawing from interviews with personal trainers, the occupation is discussed as a combination of frontline service work, emotional labor, and flexible work strategies, resulting in a variety of job roles: the representation of the fitness club, the brokering of clients’ consumer relationships with the fitness industry, the motivation of clients through service relationships, and the entrepreneurial cultivation of a client base and semi-professional authority.

Abstract:
Background. The main purpose of this study was to explore the body-mass index and waist circumference associated with physical fitness by gender. Methods. In this cross-sectional study, we included 1036 adolescents (55.4% girls) from eight randomly selected secondary schools within the city of Zagreb (Croatia). Body-mass index and waist circumference were objectively measured. Physical fitness included three tests: (1) 1 min sit-ups, (2) standing long jump and (3) a sit-and-reach test. Associations were calculated using linear regression models. Results. Boys had higher body-mass index and waist circumference values, compared to girls (p < 0.001). They also performed better in 1 min sit-ups and the standing long jump tests (p < 0.001), while girls obtained higher values in the sit-and-reach test (p < 0.001). In boys, body-mass index and waist circumference were associated with 1 min sit-ups and the standing long jump. In girls, waist circumference was also associated with 1 min sit-ups and the standing long jump, while body-mass index was only associated with this standing long jump. Conclusions. Our study shows that anthropometric indices have non-linear associations with physical fitness tests in a large sample of Croatian adolescents. Screening for thinness and obesity to predict the level of physical fitness should be of a great interest.

Abstract:
Physical fitness is an essential aspect of life. The role of physical fitness in living life is limited to athletes and society in general. For workers, having a fit body will increase productivity because they do not feel tired quickly. Good physical fitness is supported by good endurance as well. However, endurance does not play a single role in supporting physical activity. Having good endurance is indeed beneficial and is a must for individuals involved in activities or work that take a long time. Please note that every activity or work has specific targets that must be completed. Other aspects must be possessed in order to become an individual with complete physical fitness. The demands of the quality of physical fitness in the general public certainly cannot be equated with athletes' standards. For the general public, not getting tired of doing work and meeting the targets given by the institution where they work is already extraordinary.

Abstract:
Physical activity measures for a large, nationally representative sample of Australian boys and girls aged 9, 12, and 15 were related to multiple dimensions of physical fitness. Physical activity during a one-week period was only modestly related to physical fitness. However, relations tended to be higher for length of time multiplied by METs (METs - minday1) than for time alone, time multiplied by perceived effort, or METs - min day−1 multiplied by effort, whereas time multiplied by effort did no better than time alone. Relations tended to be nonlinear in that progressively higher levels of activity had less positive associations with physical fitness. The pattern and size of the relations were consistent across scores for boys and girls aged 9 to 15. Self-report measures of typical and recent (within one week) physical activity both contributed to the prediction of physical fitness, indicating that both aspects of physical activity are important.

Physical inactivity has been shown to increase the risk for several chronic diseases across the lifespan. However, the impact of physical activity and aerobic fitness on childhood cognitive and brain health has only recently gained attention. The purposes of this article are to: 1) highlight the recent emphasis for increasing physical activity and aerobic fitness in children’s lives for cognitive and brain health; 2) present aspects of brain development and cognitive function that are susceptible to physical activity intervention; 3) review neuroimaging studies examining the cross-sectional and experimental relationships between aerobic fitness and executive control function; and 4) make recommendations for future research. Given that the human brain is not fully developed until the third decade of life, preadolescence is characterized by changes in brain structure and function underlying aspects of cognition including executive control and relational memory. Achieving adequate physical activity and maintaining aerobic fitness in childhood may be a critical guideline to follow for physical as well as cognitive and brain health.

AbstractThe main aim of the study was to examine whether relationships exist between particular temperamental traits within the concept of Regulative Theory of Temperament and components of physical fitness, that are most crucial for success in sport. The research involved 108 individuals including 63 men (age 21.1 ± 1.6 yrs) and 45 women (age 20.7 ± 1.3 yrs). None of the respondents were professionally engaged in sport. Components of physical fitness included: aerobic capacity, strength, agility, static-dynamic balance and reaction time. The respondents also completed two questionnaires: the Formal Characteristics of Behaviour – Temperament Inventory and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The results indicate that the temperamental traits had average to poor correlations with the components of physical fitness, whereas more statistically significant correlations were observed in women. Negative correlations were obtained between emotional reactivity and agility, which was a result confirmed by previous research. All temperamental traits related with the energetic aspects of behaviour correlated with simple reaction time in women. Physical activity and aerobic capacity did not correlate with any of the studied traits. The results do not allow for any general conclusions to be drawn, but can serve as a reference point for future research on temperamental traits as delineated by Regulative Theory of Temperament and their relationship with the components of physical fitness.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to explore the meanings of women’s involvement in physical recreation. Although much has been written about girls’ and women’s involvement in competitive athletics, less is known about the everyday physical involvement of women who are committed to fitness activities, recreational sports, and/or outdoor activities. Data from indepth interviews were collected from 29 participants in physical activity. A process of “constant comparison” was used to develop conclusions about the social psychological meanings of physical recreation. Physical recreation was analyzed in relation to three themes: the setting and structures associated with physical activity, the worth of physical activity, and the means for negotiating opportunities for participation. The gendered meanings associated with physical recreation provided further social psychological and sociological understandings of the recreation choices and multilayered reality of women’s lives.

Abstract:
People with intellectual disabilities (ID) have high rates of overweight and obesity, heart and metabolic diseases, and low motor development. These factors compromise functional independence and autonomy in activities of daily living. The objective of this study was to clarify the design and implementation of multicomponent physical exercise programs (MPEPs) and evaluate their effects on physical fitness in people with ID. A search for scientific articles in English published before 2022 was conducted using Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct databases. Scientific papers describing the effects of MPEPs on physical fitness in people with ID were considered. A total of 374 articles involving people with ID were included. Positive physical fitness outcomes were found in interventions with MPEPs in its morphological components and to a lesser extent in the motor, muscular, metabolic, and cardiorespiratory aspects in people with ID. Further research is needed to standardize and elucidate the effects of the MPEP on other functional dimensions of physical fitness to use them as a physical activity alternative to reduce sedentary behavior in people with ID.

Abstract:
The article examines the use of the CrossFit system as a means of health fitness training in vocational and applied physical training of future law enforcement officers. It was found that CrossFit training complexes should be designed taking into account the level of physical fitness of cadets and must be included in the content of physical training classes for law enforcement officers. CrossFit develops in a balanced way all the components of physical fitness of an individual including cardio-respiratory endurance, performance, strength, flexibility, speed, power, coordination, accuracy, balance, and agility. An experimental program based on cross-fit exercises was presented, which consisted of five blocks. It was pointed out that vocational and applied physical training of law enforcement officers (military officers, firefighters, and officers of various law enforcement agencies) in the United States, Canada, Europe is carried out using health fitness training, in particular the CrossFit system.

Abstract:
Purpose: This cross-sectional study assessed the associations of gender, age, level of intellectual disabilities (IDs) and of daily sedentary and physical activity (PA) time with physical fitness in adults with ID. Materials and methods: Sixty adults (mean age = 39.19 ± 11.70 years) with ID participated in this cross-sectional study. PA was monitored for 7 days using an ActiGraph GT3X monitor. Physical fitness was measured with a 6-min walking test, isometric push-up test, modified curl-up test, handgrip strength test, and back-saver sit-and-reach test. Results: (a) An age of ≥39 years and female gender were associated with lower performance in multiple aspects of physical fitness. (b) More moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) was associated with greater muscular strength and endurance (modified curl-ups: β = 0.36, p < 0.01; handgrip strength: right, β = 0.52, p < 0.01; left, β = 0.52, p < 0.01). (c) More light-intensity PA (LPA) was associated with greater upper-body muscular endurance (β = 0.42, p < 0.01) and greater flexibility (right leg: β = 0.36, p < 0.01; left leg: β = 0.38, p < 0.01). Conclusion: LPA may be as beneficial as MVPA to the physical fitness of adults with ID. Future studies should focus on developing effective PA interventions for adults with ID, especially for women and individuals aged ≥39 years, by incorporating both LPA and MVPA.

Abstract:
Studies have found that older adults often experience severe problems due to a lack of exercise, including an increased risk of falls, increased psychological problems and reduced social participation. However, the practicality and sustainability of exercise or physical fitness activities among older adults are questionable because these adults may face physical and psychological obstacles. Hence, this study proposed a research model to explore the physical fitness behaviours of the elderly subjects and the specific factors for maintaining their motivation to participate in exercise or physical fitness activities. A survey for a total of 101 subjects of residents of Chang Gung Health and Culture Village (CGHCV) was conducted to investigate the effects of the elderly’s group identification and psychological proximity on their attitude and intention toward physical fitness. The results show that the group identification of the physical fitness activities, psychological proximity, intention toward physical fitness and subjective norms of the subjects did not affect their attitudes towards physical fitness or their intention to participate in exercise or physical fitness activities in the future. Therefore, the influence of group identification with other older adults of the same age on empathy allowed the subjects to understand the problematic aspects of physical fitness. Group identification among the subjects allowed them to adjust to their physical fitness problems through sympathy. It mediated the physical fitness problems of the subjects through the ageism effect.

Abstract Homeschooling is a growing trend in the USA and abroad with both reported consequences and benefits to youth physical health. The purpose of this study was to examine whether changes in youth physical health could be related to the number of years a student spends in homeschool. Body composition (body mass index and body fat), muscular fitness (lower extremity, abdominal and upper extremity) and cardiorespiratory fitness (Progressive Aerobic Capacity Endurance Run) were assessed in 211 youth ages 5–17. Data analysis showed weak or non-significant relationships between years in homeschool and all aspects of youth physical health. Time spent in homeschool is weakly or not at all related to multiple aspects of youth physical health. Parents and policy makers should not be concerned with detrimental physical health effects of homeschooling on youth.

Abstract:
Maintaining fitness and a healthy bodyweight can enhance police officer safety, de-escalation of situations, and subsequently survivability of the officer in addition to overall health and wellness. This can be difficult to implement without the support of the police chief and command staff. Support for these areas by agency leadership can (will) impact the implementation and success of wellness programs in agencies. However, the support for health and wellness programs including how they impact on staff performance is not well understood by law enforcement police chiefs. This paper analyzes police chiefs’ perspectives on police officer physical fitness and bodyweight and the impact on multiple aspects of the job as well as barriers to implementing programs. To answer this, a survey consisting of twenty- two questions was distributed to 1,179 Texas police chiefs via email. The survey completion rate was 91% (511 surveys started/446 completed) with an overall response rate of 39% (1,179 total surveys distributed/446 surveys completed). Incomplete and non-chief responses were removed from the final sample, leaving 425 survey responses. Results indicated 99.5% of respondents believed it is important or somewhat important for officers to be at a healthy bodyweight. Officer safety is heavily impacted in six of the top eight areas identified as being most affected by officers not maintaining fitness or a healthy weight. The other two items represented in the top eight are related to command presence. Police chiefs indicated that the increased burden on joints was most impacted by a police officer carrying excess weight. Promotion or advancement in a career was perceived to be least impacted by being overweight. Stamina was reported as being most impacted by officers being unfit or physically inactive, followed by an increased burden on joints and the ability to defend and protect oneself. The top potential barriers to officers’ physical fitness represented by police chiefs were individual unwillingness or laziness. A more thorough understanding of perceptions and beliefs by law enforcement leadership can help enhance the alignment of programs, impact habits, and ultimately influence the daily choices that officers make. These perceptions can also assist in the development of programs to further support officer readiness, safety, and survivability as well as overall health.

Abstract:
Physical fitness is defined as a person’s capacity to perform at a high level in terms of their strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility, and other athletic attributes. The morphological and functional aspects of the human body are intimately linked when it comes to determining one’s level of physical fitness. It is possible to categorize physical fitness into two types: healthy physical fitness and competitive physical fitness, depending on the performance and role it plays in various groups of individuals. Competitive physical fitness is built on the foundation of healthy physical fitness, which is the ability of the organ systems to work properly for a particular set of people. Healthful physical fitness is a prerequisite for the future growth of competitive competition. The simulation study of physical fitness training is an important topic, regardless of whether the goal is to achieve healthy physical fitness or competitive physical fitness. This work combines it with deep learning algorithms to propose a strategy MPRN-ATT-LSTM for physical training simulation analysis. First, this work proposes the idea of a hybrid model, which uses a residual network structure (MPRN) with a pooling layer to learn features from time series to reduce the dimension. Then, the extracted feature vector is sent to the LSTM model for further feature extraction. Considering that the LSTM model has high requirements on sequence of input sequence, when input sequence is changed or unreasonable, it may lead to inaccurate feature extraction and affect the classification results. This work solves this problem by adding a self-attention mechanism, which can better focus on information important for classification and give higher weights. Finally, a large number of experiments are carried out in this work to verify the superiority of this method for simulation analysis of physical training.

Abstract:
Background: Many aspects affect precision sports like shooting. Skills such as strength and balance are related to shooting performance and therefore, they should be trained. Thus, planned physical workouts can help to improve Olympic Shooting performance. The main objective of this study was to determine elite shooters’ perspective about fitness trainings. Methods: Eight elite international shooters were interviewed using a semi-structured script validated by an expert shooting committee. Their responses were transcribed and analyzed using qualitative methods. The following categories were obtained: fitness training importance on performance, fitness professional support, precompetitive fitness exercises’ orientation and intensity, main motor abilities, recovery process, fitness evaluation and test and physical training influence on the psychological state. Results: The results suggest that athletes consider physical training as a key factor in their performance. Shooters mainly train strength and endurance exercises, depending on the competitions schedule. However, no consensus exists regarding the professional in charge of fitness trainings, nor the recovery methods to minimize performance losses. In addition, general balance trainings or physical condition tests to evaluate the training progress do not seem to be used. Conclusion: We conclude that there should be greater control of fitness training and recovery processes in Olympic shooting.

Abstract:
Smartphones and mobile fitness applications or apps have brought a new experience to physical activities such as running, walking, and cycling. Increased sharing of these activities by users of social networking sites affords the collection of large physical activity datasets. This study assesses to what extent raw data from mobile fitness applications (MFAs) posted on Twitter can be used for studying physical activity and what added value they can provide. A total of 22,258 tweets collected over a nine-month period using RunKeeper mobile fitness app were analyzed. A quantitative analysis of the entire data set and a content analysis of a subset of 2,868 tweets were performed. The data from MFAs exchanged via Twitter provided rich information on various aspects of physical activity including timing and distance of runs, bicycle rides, and walks. Personal reflections shared by RunKeeper users contained additional details on how the activity was experienced. Although further research is needed to determine the representativeness and generalizability of such data, the results of this study may indicate an important direction for extending current methodological practices in physical activity research.

Abstract:
Aim. The paper deals with theoretical and experimental substantiation of an individual approach to health-improving female training. Materials and methods. A specific individual orientation of training effects for women aged from 21 to 35 years was determined depending on their somatotypes: asthenic (n = 14), normosthenic (n = 18) and hypersthenic (n = 16). Individual somatotype-based health-improving training programs were implemented by 48 women during a nine-month macrocycle. The following research methods were used: anthropometric measurements, somatotyping, control and pedagogical tests, a set of biomedical methods, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. Distinctive somatotype features, body composition, functional status, physical fitness were determined in women engaged in shaping. The asthenic type is characterized by the smallest weight and height, as well as body circumference measurements, vital capacity, hand dynamometry, and body composition data. The hypersthenic type is described by the highest figures for the parameters studied. The normosthenic somatotype is distinguished by average data. Assessment of physical development, functional status and physical fitness in women demonstrated deviations from standard values for most indicators. The individualized method of developing health-improving female training programs based on somatotype characteristics provided statistically significant positive dynamics of physical development, body composition, functional status, physical fitness compared with the initial values. Conclusion. The focus of health-improving training programs for women aged from 21 to 35 years is determined based on morphofunctional and conditioning features that are specific for various somatotypes.

The positive association between heart rate variability and cardiorespiratory fitness in youth populations is unclear. In this regard, several methodological aspects related to heart rate variability analysis could partially explain the disagreement between studies. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the influence of the heart rate on data analysis is unclear. In the present short communication, we discuss the impact of the heart rate on the associations between heart rate variability and cardiorespiratory fitness in youth. In addition, we proposed some aspects that should be considered for statistical analyses when the relationship between heart rate variability and cardiorespiratory fitness is studied. Finally, we should acknowledge that these recommendations may be applicable for other health-related outcomes different than cardiorespiratory fitness (e.g., inflammatory markers, cognition, cardiovascular disease status).
